1 00:00:00,440 --> 00:00:06,400 Speaker 1: The Around the NFL Podcast has been waiting all day 2 00:00:06,519 --> 00:00:11,880 Speaker 1: for Sunday night. From the Chris Westling podcast studio, It's 3 00:00:11,920 --> 00:00:15,280 Speaker 1: Around the NFL. I am Dan Hansis, and I have heroes, 4 00:00:16,520 --> 00:00:20,920 Speaker 1: Greg Rosenthal, Mark Sessler. It is yes, hard to believe, 5 00:00:22,400 --> 00:00:26,480 Speaker 1: the tenth season for the Around the NFL Podcast covering 6 00:00:26,640 --> 00:00:29,840 Speaker 1: our league, and it all starts right here in a 7 00:00:29,840 --> 00:00:33,080 Speaker 1: lot of ways, with the Week one flagship show. Mark 8 00:00:33,159 --> 00:00:36,280 Speaker 1: pinch yourself, baby. I have been pinching myself all day, 9 00:00:36,400 --> 00:00:39,360 Speaker 1: which is was weird. I thought, well, just just saw 10 00:00:39,400 --> 00:00:42,000 Speaker 1: these sounds of like, oh oh, Mark, I'd like him 11 00:00:42,000 --> 00:00:43,760 Speaker 1: from the corner. It was a lot. I enjoy it 12 00:00:43,800 --> 00:00:45,840 Speaker 1: the way I want to. I was studying Mark very 13 00:00:45,880 --> 00:00:49,159 Speaker 1: closely today Greg, as you know, Uh, this is the 14 00:00:49,200 --> 00:00:51,760 Speaker 1: first Sunday of football where Mark's not a Browns fan, 15 00:00:52,120 --> 00:00:54,680 Speaker 1: or so we're being supposedly. So we're going to get 16 00:00:54,720 --> 00:00:58,080 Speaker 1: into that. We're going to get into the the drama 17 00:00:58,200 --> 00:01:00,800 Speaker 1: of Week one, a lot of great dishes, a nice 18 00:01:00,800 --> 00:01:05,119 Speaker 1: start to regular season. But before we get to that, 19 00:01:05,800 --> 00:01:07,759 Speaker 1: let's get to what I thought was maybe the big 20 00:01:07,800 --> 00:01:11,199 Speaker 1: statement of Week one. Let us head to the desert, 21 00:01:11,360 --> 00:01:13,520 Speaker 1: Hardman and Dyer in the back build. At the same 22 00:01:13,560 --> 00:01:22,319 Speaker 1: time they shuttle touchdown Chancehalls City two drives two touchdowns 23 00:01:22,319 --> 00:01:24,360 Speaker 1: a play they love to run to Kelsey, they go 24 00:01:24,440 --> 00:01:28,240 Speaker 1: to Clyde Edwards Hilaire and the Chiefs are on fire 25 00:01:28,280 --> 00:01:31,800 Speaker 1: in this first quarter of the season. Well said by 26 00:01:31,880 --> 00:01:34,920 Speaker 1: Mitch Holt is we're gonna all our friends are coming back. 27 00:01:35,319 --> 00:01:37,840 Speaker 1: Mitch Holt, this is back with us w d A 28 00:01:37,920 --> 00:01:43,399 Speaker 1: F No Tyreek Hill, no problem for Patrick Mahomes, who 29 00:01:43,440 --> 00:01:49,000 Speaker 1: threw for three sixty and five touchdowns in the Chiefs 30 00:01:49,000 --> 00:01:53,080 Speaker 1: over the Cardinals in Arizona, Mark We all felt confident 31 00:01:53,200 --> 00:01:57,080 Speaker 1: in Andy Reid's ability to move forward without Hill, one 32 00:01:57,080 --> 00:01:59,240 Speaker 1: of the best playmakers ever, by the way, but it 33 00:01:59,280 --> 00:02:03,480 Speaker 1: was surprising how immediate and insanely successful they were right 34 00:02:03,480 --> 00:02:05,600 Speaker 1: out of the shoot. I mean, you can look at 35 00:02:05,600 --> 00:02:09,600 Speaker 1: this game. I think in two ways. One the Chiefs 36 00:02:09,720 --> 00:02:13,480 Speaker 1: are I think, way better than we would have even expected, 37 00:02:13,480 --> 00:02:16,560 Speaker 1: and their new offense looks dashing. Or the Cardinals are 38 00:02:16,600 --> 00:02:21,000 Speaker 1: a hot, gigantic roaming dissolving mess. Um. I am giving 39 00:02:21,000 --> 00:02:23,680 Speaker 1: the credit here to the Chiefs because was at the 40 00:02:23,680 --> 00:02:28,560 Speaker 1: first roaming dissolving mess of the season. Yeah, John the box. 41 00:02:29,280 --> 00:02:32,040 Speaker 1: I just thought Patrick Mahomes. I mean, it's it's it's 42 00:02:32,080 --> 00:02:35,000 Speaker 1: almost a tiresome exercise to try to describe Patrick Mahomes 43 00:02:35,080 --> 00:02:38,240 Speaker 1: when he's playing this way. But the offense, which had 44 00:02:38,280 --> 00:02:40,320 Speaker 1: gone through a transition, it was this whole business like 45 00:02:40,720 --> 00:02:44,560 Speaker 1: can they possibly mask the loss of Tyreek Hill? They 46 00:02:44,600 --> 00:02:46,800 Speaker 1: look better to me? And I know they're playing a 47 00:02:46,880 --> 00:02:50,120 Speaker 1: terrible defense that's compromised at cornerback, but he played a 48 00:02:50,160 --> 00:02:52,280 Speaker 1: nearly perfect first half. I mean, they could have put 49 00:02:52,360 --> 00:02:54,480 Speaker 1: up way more points than they did a few little 50 00:02:54,480 --> 00:02:57,240 Speaker 1: things hadn't happened to them. They lost Harrison Butcker, their 51 00:02:57,320 --> 00:03:00,160 Speaker 1: kicker for part of the game. Um, he looked like 52 00:03:00,200 --> 00:03:02,359 Speaker 1: he was severely injured. And then he came back too, 53 00:03:02,800 --> 00:03:05,360 Speaker 1: So they dodged that bullet. But I think if you 54 00:03:05,400 --> 00:03:08,960 Speaker 1: watched this offense, they're using a lot of two tight 55 00:03:09,080 --> 00:03:11,680 Speaker 1: three tight end sets um. Their running game to me, 56 00:03:11,800 --> 00:03:14,639 Speaker 1: looks much more vibrant. I think that's been maybe one 57 00:03:14,639 --> 00:03:16,200 Speaker 1: thing in the last couple of seasons where the run 58 00:03:16,200 --> 00:03:18,640 Speaker 1: game they didn't really have a classic lead guy and 59 00:03:18,760 --> 00:03:21,360 Speaker 1: sometimes didn't seem to come together. I did today. I 60 00:03:21,360 --> 00:03:23,840 Speaker 1: think Clyde Edwards Selaire looked as good as I've seen 61 00:03:23,919 --> 00:03:28,000 Speaker 1: him look Uh, the wide receiver situation, They're fine, They're fine. 62 00:03:28,040 --> 00:03:31,440 Speaker 1: I just think this this is the Andy Reid one 63 00:03:31,480 --> 00:03:34,200 Speaker 1: game in you have to say they completely succeeded so far. 64 00:03:34,360 --> 00:03:36,640 Speaker 1: I'll t you up like this, because we went into 65 00:03:36,680 --> 00:03:40,080 Speaker 1: the Sunday saying, you know, Mahomes and Rogers to the 66 00:03:40,120 --> 00:03:43,520 Speaker 1: Greats are entering this season with new supporting casts, with 67 00:03:43,520 --> 00:03:45,640 Speaker 1: big changes with the Hall of Fame receiver leaving the 68 00:03:45,680 --> 00:03:48,800 Speaker 1: building and Mahomes and he's your MVP picks, So I 69 00:03:48,800 --> 00:03:50,880 Speaker 1: know you're feeling good about this. Did not miss a 70 00:03:50,880 --> 00:03:52,880 Speaker 1: beat and that's a credit of course to him, but 71 00:03:52,960 --> 00:03:55,760 Speaker 1: also Andy Reid. Yeah, you were saying, you know, Andy 72 00:03:55,800 --> 00:03:58,160 Speaker 1: Reid doesn't get the credit, and you know that he's 73 00:03:58,200 --> 00:04:02,840 Speaker 1: the one cooking up all those grandfather right, He's the 74 00:04:02,880 --> 00:04:05,880 Speaker 1: one who's doing the Belichick what we think Bow Belichick 75 00:04:05,920 --> 00:04:07,720 Speaker 1: should be doing in the offseason. Not that he's not 76 00:04:07,760 --> 00:04:10,400 Speaker 1: doing it too, but he's not doing on like this. 77 00:04:10,680 --> 00:04:13,760 Speaker 1: And it's not just Okay, we're gonna come up with 78 00:04:13,800 --> 00:04:16,800 Speaker 1: these crazy passing plays. It's the running plays where I 79 00:04:16,839 --> 00:04:18,960 Speaker 1: think they get the most creative, and they're using the 80 00:04:19,000 --> 00:04:22,760 Speaker 1: athleticism of their offensive lineman like the big like run 81 00:04:22,800 --> 00:04:26,039 Speaker 1: game type of dorks. And I'm saying this finally a 82 00:04:26,040 --> 00:04:28,520 Speaker 1: guy I think of Chris brown On on Twitter, who 83 00:04:28,520 --> 00:04:31,680 Speaker 1: does smart football. He's noticing how they're doing these like 84 00:04:32,000 --> 00:04:36,520 Speaker 1: power shovel plays at the goal line with their fullbacks, 85 00:04:36,520 --> 00:04:38,320 Speaker 1: which is like taking it all the way back to 86 00:04:38,400 --> 00:04:44,680 Speaker 1: like New Rockney Clark Shaughnessy, like old the old style football, 87 00:04:44,920 --> 00:04:47,720 Speaker 1: but before you even knew what the passing game was. 88 00:04:47,800 --> 00:04:50,200 Speaker 1: And if you can mix a little bit of that 89 00:04:50,800 --> 00:04:53,680 Speaker 1: and the passing game and the brilliance of Patrick Mahomes, 90 00:04:53,720 --> 00:04:55,760 Speaker 1: feeling like, Okay, you guys are sleeping on me a 91 00:04:55,760 --> 00:04:58,320 Speaker 1: little bit. This is what you get. Thirty three first 92 00:04:58,360 --> 00:05:01,120 Speaker 1: downs in sixties six plays. I know this is the 93 00:05:01,160 --> 00:05:03,160 Speaker 1: first game, but we will not have a better stat 94 00:05:03,560 --> 00:05:05,960 Speaker 1: in this entire show than that. That is outrageous. I've 95 00:05:06,000 --> 00:05:09,160 Speaker 1: never heard such a thing. Yeah, And Clyde Edwards Hilaire 96 00:05:09,240 --> 00:05:11,520 Speaker 1: is a guy that I know fantasy owners have been 97 00:05:11,560 --> 00:05:14,200 Speaker 1: frustrated because as a former first round pick, he was 98 00:05:14,200 --> 00:05:17,320 Speaker 1: supposed to be an unstoppable chess piece when they brought 99 00:05:17,360 --> 00:05:19,000 Speaker 1: him into the team two years ago, and he kind 100 00:05:19,000 --> 00:05:21,040 Speaker 1: of faded out of the game plan by the end 101 00:05:21,080 --> 00:05:23,840 Speaker 1: of last season. But the way he was being deployed here. Yes, 102 00:05:23,960 --> 00:05:27,640 Speaker 1: Juju Smith Schuster hits the ground running productive, Travis Kelsey 103 00:05:27,839 --> 00:05:31,520 Speaker 1: as dominant as ever. So, yes, the Chiefs are humming. 104 00:05:31,560 --> 00:05:34,040 Speaker 1: The Chiefs are gonna be okay, and a reminder that 105 00:05:34,080 --> 00:05:35,920 Speaker 1: they should be seen as the favorite in the a 106 00:05:36,000 --> 00:05:39,640 Speaker 1: f C West. On the other side of the ball here, uh, cessy, 107 00:05:39,839 --> 00:05:41,719 Speaker 1: you know, there's some lipstick on the pig here with 108 00:05:41,800 --> 00:05:44,920 Speaker 1: Kyler Murray's numbers. But it was ugly. It was ugly 109 00:05:44,960 --> 00:05:47,080 Speaker 1: all the way around. The offense all right, maybe they 110 00:05:47,120 --> 00:05:48,800 Speaker 1: got put in a bad spot, but the defense wasn't 111 00:05:48,800 --> 00:05:52,640 Speaker 1: even competitive. Well, the defense looks awful. I mean they 112 00:05:53,240 --> 00:05:57,400 Speaker 1: go watch how wide open Chiefs targets are. I mean 113 00:05:57,400 --> 00:05:59,760 Speaker 1: there's there's multiple plays where there's no one around them 114 00:05:59,760 --> 00:06:02,000 Speaker 1: and they and they got They're already bad at cornerback. 115 00:06:02,040 --> 00:06:04,200 Speaker 1: They lost a cornerback in early on the game and 116 00:06:04,240 --> 00:06:06,360 Speaker 1: Byron Murphy. I I don't even know if he came back, 117 00:06:06,400 --> 00:06:09,320 Speaker 1: but it didn't matter. They were just they did not play. 118 00:06:10,160 --> 00:06:12,479 Speaker 1: And on offense, it's like, first of all, I don't 119 00:06:12,480 --> 00:06:14,320 Speaker 1: want to overreact to this one week, but I think 120 00:06:14,320 --> 00:06:17,680 Speaker 1: they have some real issues. Uh, you don't have DeAndre Hopkins. 121 00:06:17,680 --> 00:06:20,680 Speaker 1: We get that you lost Rondel Moore days ago. They 122 00:06:20,680 --> 00:06:24,360 Speaker 1: don't really have. They just looked discombobulated to me. And 123 00:06:24,480 --> 00:06:26,520 Speaker 1: with Kyler Murray, I mean, when he's good, he's good, 124 00:06:26,720 --> 00:06:29,600 Speaker 1: but I thought that you he missed a bunch of 125 00:06:29,600 --> 00:06:32,160 Speaker 1: wide open guys today. And something that's going on with 126 00:06:32,240 --> 00:06:34,440 Speaker 1: Kyler Murray is his I think he just sometimes maybe 127 00:06:34,560 --> 00:06:37,320 Speaker 1: doesn't see the field. He was also under Darrest a bunch. 128 00:06:37,400 --> 00:06:40,120 Speaker 1: I mean, it was just a messy, messy outing. And 129 00:06:40,520 --> 00:06:44,560 Speaker 1: after this whole journey where we've resigned the coach, we've 130 00:06:44,560 --> 00:06:48,159 Speaker 1: resigned the GM, we extended the quarterback. Thinking this is 131 00:06:48,200 --> 00:06:50,640 Speaker 1: the vision, this is the offense that you want to say. 132 00:06:50,760 --> 00:06:53,440 Speaker 1: You know, it's the NFC version where Andy Reiden go 133 00:06:53,560 --> 00:06:55,400 Speaker 1: cook it up, but soaking Cliff Kingsbury. That was the 134 00:06:55,400 --> 00:06:57,839 Speaker 1: whole concept here, and they just to me looked like 135 00:06:57,880 --> 00:06:59,440 Speaker 1: they picked up where they left off, which was not 136 00:06:59,480 --> 00:07:02,120 Speaker 1: a good place. What did you say in the news room, 137 00:07:02,120 --> 00:07:04,880 Speaker 1: They should they should just surprise everyone and give another extensions, 138 00:07:06,080 --> 00:07:09,280 Speaker 1: change the narrative, just keep on handing out extensions because 139 00:07:09,320 --> 00:07:11,800 Speaker 1: you're in deep now. The Big Wills and the entire 140 00:07:11,840 --> 00:07:15,640 Speaker 1: Cardinals organization, they were so convinced of being right about 141 00:07:15,680 --> 00:07:18,440 Speaker 1: this QB, this coach and this GM that they were 142 00:07:18,440 --> 00:07:21,720 Speaker 1: handing out money like it was. It was. But it's 143 00:07:21,720 --> 00:07:24,440 Speaker 1: also like every all the concerns that we had about 144 00:07:24,480 --> 00:07:28,560 Speaker 1: the Cardinals how last year ended. Also, you know how 145 00:07:28,800 --> 00:07:32,360 Speaker 1: no defenses throughout Patrick Mahomes's career has blitzed them at all, 146 00:07:32,360 --> 00:07:35,520 Speaker 1: because it's like poison. Uh. Today they decided to try 147 00:07:35,520 --> 00:07:37,560 Speaker 1: to flip the script in Arizona. They were the first 148 00:07:37,560 --> 00:07:40,560 Speaker 1: team in Patrick Mahomes's career to blitz them more than 149 00:07:40,640 --> 00:07:43,640 Speaker 1: half of the snaps that did not work out well, 150 00:07:44,000 --> 00:07:46,320 Speaker 1: it did not farewell for them. How many how many? Uh, 151 00:07:46,600 --> 00:07:48,480 Speaker 1: of all three of us, how many it's week ones 152 00:07:48,560 --> 00:07:51,000 Speaker 1: are we gonna hear it? Okay, but it's fair, it's fair. 153 00:07:51,360 --> 00:07:55,200 Speaker 1: Everything needs to be kept in that mindset because the preseasons, 154 00:07:55,240 --> 00:07:57,000 Speaker 1: you know what it is. Now, it's gonna take time 155 00:07:57,040 --> 00:07:59,679 Speaker 1: for these teams. But the Cardinals, clearly we're not ready. 156 00:07:59,680 --> 00:08:01,640 Speaker 1: Shout out to Justin Reid, by the way, who replaced 157 00:08:01,640 --> 00:08:04,960 Speaker 1: Harrison Butker as place kicker for the Chiefs for in 158 00:08:05,000 --> 00:08:07,200 Speaker 1: the first half and when one of two pt s 159 00:08:07,720 --> 00:08:10,880 Speaker 1: and blasted a kickoff out of the end zone. Yeah, no, 160 00:08:10,920 --> 00:08:13,640 Speaker 1: I think he's remarkable. It's not the first person you 161 00:08:13,640 --> 00:08:15,920 Speaker 1: can think of a safety as your backup kicker, but 162 00:08:15,960 --> 00:08:17,600 Speaker 1: the first p a t He nailed it out. He 163 00:08:17,600 --> 00:08:19,800 Speaker 1: could be He could be a kickoff specialist. The Colts 164 00:08:19,840 --> 00:08:22,440 Speaker 1: could have used him today. That was the greatest show 165 00:08:22,480 --> 00:08:26,040 Speaker 1: of athleticism I've seen so far this season. All right, 166 00:08:26,240 --> 00:08:30,600 Speaker 1: so Chiefs rolling cards, hurting, Let's check in. Oh, I 167 00:08:30,640 --> 00:08:32,360 Speaker 1: also locked this up. By the way, when you lock 168 00:08:32,440 --> 00:08:34,000 Speaker 1: it so, you don't even want to sweat it, you 169 00:08:34,040 --> 00:08:35,719 Speaker 1: just want to see it's a nice one. You want 170 00:08:35,760 --> 00:08:37,599 Speaker 1: to see. We did. We all did very nice for 171 00:08:37,640 --> 00:08:41,679 Speaker 1: the most part. Everyone. So the Chiefs already set up 172 00:08:41,679 --> 00:08:44,679 Speaker 1: for a huge TNF matchup with an a f C 173 00:08:44,880 --> 00:08:49,760 Speaker 1: West rival this week, and that rival was playing the Raiders. 174 00:08:49,880 --> 00:08:53,000 Speaker 1: Let's get into that game. Shotgun snap looking right, car 175 00:08:53,040 --> 00:08:55,840 Speaker 1: clops a pocket hit crap that he has dropped. The 176 00:08:55,840 --> 00:08:59,839 Speaker 1: ball is up and the charger's habit. Let's chargers have it. 177 00:09:00,000 --> 00:09:05,319 Speaker 1: Showey Bosta Khalil Mac it was a Khalil Max strit sack. 178 00:09:06,280 --> 00:09:08,920 Speaker 1: You heard it there, Matt Money Smith, Daniel Jeremiah k 179 00:09:09,120 --> 00:09:11,760 Speaker 1: y s Are Khalil Max sack fumble of Derek Carr 180 00:09:11,800 --> 00:09:14,680 Speaker 1: on fourth down near midfield was the difference for the Chargers, 181 00:09:15,720 --> 00:09:17,920 Speaker 1: who jumped out to a fast start and held on 182 00:09:18,000 --> 00:09:25,400 Speaker 1: to defeat the Raiders nineteen at Sophi Stadium. Listen, did 183 00:09:25,440 --> 00:09:28,360 Speaker 1: I think that the Chargers We're gonna charge that thing 184 00:09:28,440 --> 00:09:31,000 Speaker 1: up at the end? Yeah? I had. I had some 185 00:09:31,080 --> 00:09:34,640 Speaker 1: serious doubts about Los Angeles ability to close that game out, 186 00:09:35,160 --> 00:09:38,720 Speaker 1: and yet Derek Carr just wasn't gonna let it happen. 187 00:09:38,800 --> 00:09:41,600 Speaker 1: Because this is one of those games with car where 188 00:09:41,679 --> 00:09:45,319 Speaker 1: you start to think, jeez, all the all the criticisms 189 00:09:45,360 --> 00:09:46,960 Speaker 1: that he gets, and they will be pushed back from 190 00:09:47,040 --> 00:09:50,640 Speaker 1: Raider fans or people in the family or whatever it is. 191 00:09:51,160 --> 00:09:53,760 Speaker 1: But he put the ball on the ground. He threw 192 00:09:53,800 --> 00:09:56,560 Speaker 1: three interceptions, and I think if they get better quarterback 193 00:09:56,559 --> 00:09:59,000 Speaker 1: playing this game, they do steal it from the Chargers, 194 00:09:59,000 --> 00:10:01,120 Speaker 1: who were were voll able by the end of this game. 195 00:10:02,000 --> 00:10:05,599 Speaker 1: I mean, it's not really his thing to make mistakes 196 00:10:05,679 --> 00:10:08,720 Speaker 1: like that. What what were they about? Were they mental 197 00:10:08,880 --> 00:10:11,240 Speaker 1: errors where that the past rush is getting to him 198 00:10:11,240 --> 00:10:13,600 Speaker 1: because Cleio Mac had a day, maybe he just started 199 00:10:13,640 --> 00:10:16,120 Speaker 1: getting a little frantic. It was. I think maybe he 200 00:10:16,240 --> 00:10:19,160 Speaker 1: seemed a little scattered in this game, and it wasn't uh, 201 00:10:19,400 --> 00:10:21,960 Speaker 1: you know, it wasn't terrible. He did, for instance, connect 202 00:10:22,000 --> 00:10:25,200 Speaker 1: with Davante Adams repeatedly. Adams had ten catches for a 203 00:10:25,240 --> 00:10:27,600 Speaker 1: hundred and forty yards, forty one yards and a touchdown 204 00:10:27,840 --> 00:10:30,600 Speaker 1: on seventeen targets. So you know, I think this is 205 00:10:30,720 --> 00:10:33,600 Speaker 1: again the week one side of this. It's gonna take 206 00:10:33,640 --> 00:10:35,960 Speaker 1: some time to calibrate this thing and find ways to 207 00:10:36,040 --> 00:10:39,720 Speaker 1: keep Darren Waller involved, to have Hunter Renfro involved. Remember 208 00:10:39,760 --> 00:10:43,040 Speaker 1: how important Renfro was today while they're at a good game, 209 00:10:43,080 --> 00:10:46,040 Speaker 1: four for seventy nine after contract over the weekend. By 210 00:10:46,080 --> 00:10:48,360 Speaker 1: the way, I think with with car you kind of 211 00:10:48,400 --> 00:10:52,080 Speaker 1: saw that, um perhaps maybe he's trying to figure out 212 00:10:52,080 --> 00:10:53,719 Speaker 1: how he wants to do this. But yeah, I think 213 00:10:53,720 --> 00:10:55,160 Speaker 1: he got mixed up a little bit of this game. 214 00:10:55,200 --> 00:10:57,360 Speaker 1: I think he got putting a blender and he made 215 00:10:57,360 --> 00:10:59,960 Speaker 1: mistakes that they cost him this game. I mean that's 216 00:11:00,000 --> 00:11:02,320 Speaker 1: two fumbles that he had. Also they were lucky and 217 00:11:02,400 --> 00:11:04,560 Speaker 1: fortunate not to lose them, but one of them, when 218 00:11:04,559 --> 00:11:06,800 Speaker 1: we were watching this together, it was the classic, just 219 00:11:06,880 --> 00:11:09,360 Speaker 1: holding the ball too long and allowing the pressure to 220 00:11:09,360 --> 00:11:12,280 Speaker 1: find him. I mean, he was getting he was he 221 00:11:12,320 --> 00:11:14,720 Speaker 1: was running around back there. I think this one note 222 00:11:14,920 --> 00:11:16,839 Speaker 1: beyond the fact that the Chargers we were wondering and 223 00:11:16,880 --> 00:11:19,880 Speaker 1: almost gave this game away. The defensive parts like Khalil 224 00:11:19,960 --> 00:11:23,240 Speaker 1: Mack looked like he looked great today and and that's big. 225 00:11:23,440 --> 00:11:25,160 Speaker 1: I didn't really know what we were gonna get from 226 00:11:25,200 --> 00:11:27,240 Speaker 1: Kalil mc Necessarily over the course of the season, we'll 227 00:11:27,240 --> 00:11:30,200 Speaker 1: see three sacks, four QB hits, right he fits in 228 00:11:30,240 --> 00:11:32,200 Speaker 1: this defense. Brandon Stilly went and got Hi because he 229 00:11:32,240 --> 00:11:34,120 Speaker 1: knows who he is and right away he was the 230 00:11:34,120 --> 00:11:36,400 Speaker 1: difference in this game. And Keenan Allen went out of 231 00:11:36,400 --> 00:11:39,640 Speaker 1: this game with the hamstring early. Uh, and that was 232 00:11:39,760 --> 00:11:41,560 Speaker 1: you know, we'll keep an eye on that because Alan 233 00:11:41,640 --> 00:11:43,839 Speaker 1: is such an important part of what the Chargers do. 234 00:11:44,000 --> 00:11:46,080 Speaker 1: But you had a guy like DeAndre Carter who stepped 235 00:11:46,120 --> 00:11:49,160 Speaker 1: in and he scores a touchdown. He has another big conversion, 236 00:11:49,200 --> 00:11:52,440 Speaker 1: he goes three for sixty four. Gerald Everett carries in 237 00:11:53,040 --> 00:11:56,280 Speaker 1: um a Raiders defender backing into the end zone for 238 00:11:56,280 --> 00:11:58,640 Speaker 1: another touchdown. That was a crazy play. Yeah, And I 239 00:11:58,679 --> 00:12:02,400 Speaker 1: think Herbert played a Herbert game. He starts out his 240 00:12:02,480 --> 00:12:06,880 Speaker 1: season very well, mistake free football and in front of 241 00:12:06,880 --> 00:12:09,079 Speaker 1: a lot of Raiders fans Exame was played across the 242 00:12:09,120 --> 00:12:11,840 Speaker 1: street from us UH the Chargers, and we've talked about 243 00:12:11,840 --> 00:12:14,199 Speaker 1: this with the Rams too. You could tell they they 244 00:12:14,559 --> 00:12:16,320 Speaker 1: figured out how we play in our own building. Now 245 00:12:16,360 --> 00:12:19,040 Speaker 1: it's different than most stadiums, it's different than most teams 246 00:12:19,040 --> 00:12:21,400 Speaker 1: have to deal with. But they took care of business. 247 00:12:21,480 --> 00:12:23,440 Speaker 1: Is a nice way for the Charges to start the 248 00:12:23,480 --> 00:12:26,400 Speaker 1: season because we've seen it too often where they find 249 00:12:26,400 --> 00:12:28,720 Speaker 1: a game like this and it goes away, goes the 250 00:12:28,760 --> 00:12:30,920 Speaker 1: wrong way, and then when they missed the playoffs by 251 00:12:30,920 --> 00:12:33,160 Speaker 1: a game, you're like, oh, what about that week one? Well, 252 00:12:33,160 --> 00:12:37,000 Speaker 1: and they've got the Chiefs next week. You couldnot let 253 00:12:37,000 --> 00:12:39,079 Speaker 1: this one slip away and go in deal with Kansas 254 00:12:39,120 --> 00:12:41,280 Speaker 1: City at oh and one, right, and they you think 255 00:12:41,320 --> 00:12:44,160 Speaker 1: about the difference in that Kansas City game, for instance, 256 00:12:44,200 --> 00:12:46,600 Speaker 1: they're probably gonna be without Keenan Allen, and so now 257 00:12:46,640 --> 00:12:49,160 Speaker 1: you can afford maybe to do that because Herbert's at 258 00:12:49,160 --> 00:12:51,360 Speaker 1: the point where he's making guys better. But I'm a 259 00:12:51,400 --> 00:12:53,720 Speaker 1: little worried about a situation no one had more than 260 00:12:53,760 --> 00:12:57,040 Speaker 1: four targets on this team where it's like DeAndre Carter, 261 00:12:57,600 --> 00:13:01,920 Speaker 1: Trey McKitty had three catches, Xander or Vath had a touchdown. 262 00:13:01,960 --> 00:13:03,880 Speaker 1: I mean, I feel like I'm just making up names here, 263 00:13:03,960 --> 00:13:06,319 Speaker 1: Whereas Palm, you know, Josh Palmer and Mike Williams, the 264 00:13:06,320 --> 00:13:08,640 Speaker 1: guys you expected didn't do much of anything. On the 265 00:13:08,640 --> 00:13:12,400 Speaker 1: flip side of Mac was the Raiders big acquisition Chandler Jones, who, 266 00:13:12,440 --> 00:13:15,480 Speaker 1: from at least what I read, I gotta watch this closely. 267 00:13:15,760 --> 00:13:19,280 Speaker 1: Uh Ray Shawn Slater shut down pretty well throughout the game. 268 00:13:19,360 --> 00:13:23,440 Speaker 1: They're they're great in this. I like this Tray mckittie. 269 00:13:23,440 --> 00:13:24,800 Speaker 1: I think that's I don't know if that's a real name, 270 00:13:24,840 --> 00:13:28,520 Speaker 1: but that's like a Sessler named Xander Horrorveth also felt 271 00:13:28,520 --> 00:13:32,480 Speaker 1: like Assessler there is there is a tendency for, you know, 272 00:13:32,559 --> 00:13:34,440 Speaker 1: to get on the quarterback too much and then not 273 00:13:34,720 --> 00:13:36,680 Speaker 1: bring up the offensive line, and I think that was 274 00:13:36,720 --> 00:13:38,839 Speaker 1: a issue in this game so well. He was sacked 275 00:13:38,880 --> 00:13:43,640 Speaker 1: six times car and UM Vegas was shifting around their unit. 276 00:13:43,720 --> 00:13:48,400 Speaker 1: I used three different uh combinations UM in their offensive 277 00:13:48,440 --> 00:13:51,320 Speaker 1: line trying to find that stability. So yeah, I think 278 00:13:51,320 --> 00:13:53,720 Speaker 1: this is a their work in progress. They have the 279 00:13:53,760 --> 00:13:56,920 Speaker 1: Cardinals next week, so that's a team. Depending how you 280 00:13:56,960 --> 00:13:59,400 Speaker 1: look at it, you know that you're either getting the 281 00:13:59,400 --> 00:14:02,040 Speaker 1: Cardinals at a time or the worst time, But that 282 00:14:02,200 --> 00:14:04,200 Speaker 1: becomes an important game for the Raiders because you know 283 00:14:04,240 --> 00:14:06,640 Speaker 1: the Chiefs are gonna be often running this one quick question, 284 00:14:06,720 --> 00:14:10,960 Speaker 1: like Josh McDaniels, did you notice Josh McDaniels esque elements 285 00:14:10,960 --> 00:14:12,840 Speaker 1: to the offense? Was it was just a lot of 286 00:14:12,840 --> 00:14:15,160 Speaker 1: focus on Davontadas because the run, the ground game did 287 00:14:15,160 --> 00:14:17,439 Speaker 1: not did Number one. I can't give you a real 288 00:14:17,480 --> 00:14:20,960 Speaker 1: take on the Josh McDaniels ask uh flare to the offense. 289 00:14:21,320 --> 00:14:23,480 Speaker 1: All I could tell you is that it didn't do much. 290 00:14:23,560 --> 00:14:27,920 Speaker 1: They didn't do enough shots. Did he seem as agitated 291 00:14:28,080 --> 00:14:30,400 Speaker 1: and or fired up as he was at points of 292 00:14:30,440 --> 00:14:32,480 Speaker 1: his Broncos career. You know what, I'm gonna have to 293 00:14:32,560 --> 00:14:35,520 Speaker 1: go back and watch the Josh McDaniels sideline shots as well. 294 00:14:35,680 --> 00:14:37,520 Speaker 1: We didn't, So we didn't. We're putting a lot of 295 00:14:37,560 --> 00:14:40,640 Speaker 1: heat on We didn't help you out there with questions. 296 00:14:40,880 --> 00:14:43,840 Speaker 1: Let's now, So those are two like games that are interesting. 297 00:14:43,880 --> 00:14:46,920 Speaker 1: So you have the Chiefs making a huge statement, the 298 00:14:47,040 --> 00:14:52,080 Speaker 1: Cardinals laying an egg, the Chargers refusing to Charger, and 299 00:14:52,280 --> 00:14:54,400 Speaker 1: the Raiders that there are a lot of hype stumbling 300 00:14:54,400 --> 00:14:56,840 Speaker 1: out of the Gates. But now let's get to something fun. 301 00:14:56,960 --> 00:15:00,040 Speaker 1: Let's get to a crazy ending. Sorry grave Digger, go 302 00:15:00,040 --> 00:15:03,640 Speaker 1: to Nashville. Jones takes the snap, rolls right, shovel pass 303 00:15:03,640 --> 00:15:07,600 Speaker 1: for Barkley Parkley in to the two point conversion all 304 00:15:07,600 --> 00:15:10,080 Speaker 1: a little shovel past his sake one and then he 305 00:15:10,160 --> 00:15:13,720 Speaker 1: did the rest, taking on defenders and a giant house 306 00:15:13,760 --> 00:15:17,120 Speaker 1: the League twenty with one oh six A goo that's 307 00:15:17,160 --> 00:15:22,440 Speaker 1: playing the win Bob ha Yes it is Bob Papa 308 00:15:22,600 --> 00:15:25,000 Speaker 1: and Carl Banks with the call w F A N 309 00:15:26,440 --> 00:15:29,080 Speaker 1: Hey you know what that? Hey, this is Carl Rigo 310 00:15:29,200 --> 00:15:34,120 Speaker 1: park I'll tell you what there, Jean Table and Joe Judge. 311 00:15:34,360 --> 00:15:37,000 Speaker 1: One guy plays to win, one guy doesn't play at all. 312 00:15:38,000 --> 00:15:40,080 Speaker 1: I'll hang up and listen. It's also not wrong that 313 00:15:40,200 --> 00:15:43,840 Speaker 1: call Daniel Jones and a one yard touchdown past Chris 314 00:15:43,880 --> 00:15:46,680 Speaker 1: me arc. And it was followed by that gutsy two 315 00:15:46,720 --> 00:15:50,040 Speaker 1: point conversion by I don't care if it's if it's 316 00:15:50,120 --> 00:15:56,040 Speaker 1: my arc, it's ARC. Understand you're taking editorial, you know, 317 00:15:56,360 --> 00:15:59,640 Speaker 1: freeweight freebees with that, but I don't approve uh gutsy 318 00:15:59,720 --> 00:16:02,720 Speaker 1: two one conversion by se Kwon Barkley there and then 319 00:16:02,760 --> 00:16:06,120 Speaker 1: setting up big bone Randy to push a forty seven 320 00:16:06,200 --> 00:16:08,920 Speaker 1: yard or which or pull forty seven yard or which 321 00:16:09,040 --> 00:16:12,040 Speaker 1: Greggy I predicted in the newsroom live even pointed to 322 00:16:12,080 --> 00:16:16,840 Speaker 1: the exact spot in the screen to go. Dan literally 323 00:16:16,920 --> 00:16:20,200 Speaker 1: like trace the arc of where the ball was going 324 00:16:20,280 --> 00:16:22,560 Speaker 1: to go in front of a stunned newsroom. And then 325 00:16:23,120 --> 00:16:28,640 Speaker 1: when exactly where that arc was I was But after 326 00:16:28,680 --> 00:16:30,400 Speaker 1: the Jets play back, I could use a w and 327 00:16:30,440 --> 00:16:32,240 Speaker 1: I got one. Anyway, it all added up to a 328 00:16:32,280 --> 00:16:36,840 Speaker 1: stunning Giants win over the Titans. Let's spring in a 329 00:16:36,880 --> 00:16:40,200 Speaker 1: devastated grave Digger who you know this is his maiden 330 00:16:40,880 --> 00:16:45,080 Speaker 1: UM flagship program as our main producer, and uh you 331 00:16:45,080 --> 00:16:47,600 Speaker 1: know we asked him to be our voice on this one, 332 00:16:47,640 --> 00:16:49,760 Speaker 1: to follow this game to cover and then helped us, 333 00:16:49,880 --> 00:16:52,320 Speaker 1: help us dissect it. And this is a tough way 334 00:16:52,360 --> 00:16:56,240 Speaker 1: to get thrown into the fire. How you doing, buddy. 335 00:16:57,280 --> 00:17:00,400 Speaker 1: You know it's all good. It's just football. It's not 336 00:17:00,440 --> 00:17:03,520 Speaker 1: like my life or anything. I mean, you seemed like 337 00:17:03,760 --> 00:17:07,840 Speaker 1: a sad puppy talk about half an hour ago. It's 338 00:17:07,880 --> 00:17:11,480 Speaker 1: definitely disappointing way to open the season, obviously, but weak 339 00:17:11,520 --> 00:17:15,240 Speaker 1: ones are like this all around the league right now. 340 00:17:15,440 --> 00:17:21,280 Speaker 1: Packers losing rams losing you know, you can never because 341 00:17:21,400 --> 00:17:24,000 Speaker 1: this is a game that Tennessee was in control of. 342 00:17:24,040 --> 00:17:26,440 Speaker 1: Where did things start to kind of spin out for him? Yeah? 343 00:17:26,520 --> 00:17:28,760 Speaker 1: The Titans looked like the dominant team in the first half, 344 00:17:28,800 --> 00:17:31,600 Speaker 1: winning in all phases, explosive punt return, forcing three and 345 00:17:31,680 --> 00:17:34,240 Speaker 1: ounce they were getting after. Daniel Jones had like four 346 00:17:34,320 --> 00:17:36,439 Speaker 1: or five sacks in the first half, I think, and 347 00:17:36,480 --> 00:17:39,520 Speaker 1: then in the second half they gave up big plays. 348 00:17:39,600 --> 00:17:43,040 Speaker 1: It was like the Giants weren't moving the ball effectively 349 00:17:43,160 --> 00:17:45,959 Speaker 1: on Tennessee, but they had a huge shot to Sterling 350 00:17:45,960 --> 00:17:48,879 Speaker 1: Shepard for a touchdown and explosive se Quon Barkley sixty 351 00:17:48,920 --> 00:17:52,359 Speaker 1: eight yard run, another thirty three yard run, and with 352 00:17:52,480 --> 00:17:55,119 Speaker 1: nine minutes left, the Giants were poised to tie the 353 00:17:55,160 --> 00:17:58,720 Speaker 1: game twenty to thirteen, and Daniel Jones made a horrible decision, 354 00:17:58,760 --> 00:18:01,399 Speaker 1: really the only bad decision he made all day, looking 355 00:18:01,400 --> 00:18:04,159 Speaker 1: in the end zone and just stared down a receiver. 356 00:18:04,200 --> 00:18:06,439 Speaker 1: A Monty Hooker was all over it from the beginning 357 00:18:06,520 --> 00:18:08,520 Speaker 1: and broke on it and intercepted it in the end zone. 358 00:18:08,560 --> 00:18:10,640 Speaker 1: It was like, all right, Titans can close this out 359 00:18:10,680 --> 00:18:12,760 Speaker 1: now with the ball nine minutes to go, at their 360 00:18:12,760 --> 00:18:15,800 Speaker 1: own twenty yard line. Titans go three and out quickly 361 00:18:15,880 --> 00:18:19,920 Speaker 1: punted away, the Giants get a huge run from se 362 00:18:19,960 --> 00:18:22,640 Speaker 1: Kuon Barkley at thirty three yard run and then, um, 363 00:18:23,359 --> 00:18:28,560 Speaker 1: I mean, yeah, development, and I understand that se Kuan 364 00:18:28,720 --> 00:18:31,080 Speaker 1: is on a New York Giant, Giant team that even 365 00:18:31,119 --> 00:18:35,199 Speaker 1: today's result notwithstanding, is a work in progress and a 366 00:18:35,240 --> 00:18:39,440 Speaker 1: team that's rebuilding. But that makes them interesting in the 367 00:18:39,520 --> 00:18:41,840 Speaker 1: NFC East. If he's gonna have a hundred and sixty 368 00:18:41,840 --> 00:18:44,480 Speaker 1: four total yards are excuse me, a hundred ninety four 369 00:18:44,720 --> 00:18:47,400 Speaker 1: total yards. He had the two point conversion. The longest 370 00:18:47,480 --> 00:18:51,080 Speaker 1: run from play from scrimmage for the Giants since Daniel 371 00:18:51,160 --> 00:18:53,560 Speaker 1: Jones is eight yards. Stumble run on a prime time 372 00:18:53,560 --> 00:18:56,000 Speaker 1: a couple of years ago. That was huge. That helped 373 00:18:56,000 --> 00:18:58,840 Speaker 1: turn in this game as well. Yeah, se Kwon Berkeley 374 00:18:58,960 --> 00:19:01,240 Speaker 1: was borderline on stubble. I mean, even when it felt 375 00:19:01,240 --> 00:19:03,240 Speaker 1: like the Titans were bottling him up, he was mustling 376 00:19:03,240 --> 00:19:06,000 Speaker 1: forward for for extra yards. And the difference in the 377 00:19:06,040 --> 00:19:07,919 Speaker 1: game I think was the explosive plays. I mean, the 378 00:19:07,960 --> 00:19:11,240 Speaker 1: Giants had big explosive plays that set them up for scores. 379 00:19:11,600 --> 00:19:14,960 Speaker 1: The Titans had a couple big explosives in the passing game, 380 00:19:15,000 --> 00:19:18,960 Speaker 1: but not enough to sustain success on offense, and like 381 00:19:19,040 --> 00:19:21,800 Speaker 1: keep the Giants offense off the field at the end 382 00:19:21,800 --> 00:19:23,400 Speaker 1: of the game when they had to close it out, 383 00:19:23,520 --> 00:19:26,320 Speaker 1: and I thought Tannehill looked pretty good. He had a 384 00:19:26,320 --> 00:19:29,080 Speaker 1: couple of misses in there, but overall pretty good game 385 00:19:29,119 --> 00:19:32,840 Speaker 1: for Tannehill. Derrick Henry, I will say, looks a step 386 00:19:32,960 --> 00:19:35,919 Speaker 1: slower than he does when he's at his peak, and 387 00:19:36,280 --> 00:19:38,880 Speaker 1: that could just be early season Derrick Henry. He he 388 00:19:38,960 --> 00:19:41,159 Speaker 1: usually takes a few weeks to really get going. Or 389 00:19:41,200 --> 00:19:43,200 Speaker 1: it could be a twenty eight year old running back 390 00:19:43,200 --> 00:19:45,920 Speaker 1: coming off a major foot injury that doesn't have the 391 00:19:45,960 --> 00:19:48,360 Speaker 1: same juice he used to have. But I do think 392 00:19:48,400 --> 00:19:50,200 Speaker 1: if you're a Giants fan, you have to be encouraged 393 00:19:50,240 --> 00:19:54,040 Speaker 1: by the way they stuck with it, because at halftime 394 00:19:54,080 --> 00:19:55,840 Speaker 1: it felt like this was gonna end in a blowout 395 00:19:55,880 --> 00:19:57,760 Speaker 1: for Tennessee, and the Giants came out in the second 396 00:19:57,800 --> 00:20:00,640 Speaker 1: half and made all the pavel teams don't give up. 397 00:20:01,119 --> 00:20:02,600 Speaker 1: But you know what, I know, I get that that's 398 00:20:02,600 --> 00:20:04,719 Speaker 1: a joke, but like um, I do think that this 399 00:20:04,880 --> 00:20:07,240 Speaker 1: was a big day for Brian Table because a couple 400 00:20:07,240 --> 00:20:09,119 Speaker 1: of things. I think we showed it during our highlight 401 00:20:09,119 --> 00:20:11,720 Speaker 1: package too. He got in the face of Daniel Jones 402 00:20:11,760 --> 00:20:14,399 Speaker 1: after that one mistaken was just drawing him out. I 403 00:20:14,440 --> 00:20:16,159 Speaker 1: like that. I think it's like he's chanting. So this 404 00:20:16,240 --> 00:20:17,760 Speaker 1: is your one year to figure out what you are, 405 00:20:17,840 --> 00:20:20,280 Speaker 1: Daniel Jones, or you're out of here. And the coaching 406 00:20:20,280 --> 00:20:23,280 Speaker 1: decision at the end to point instead of tying it up. 407 00:20:23,359 --> 00:20:25,720 Speaker 1: How many compare that to what Lovey Smith did in 408 00:20:25,760 --> 00:20:29,080 Speaker 1: Houston today, which we'll get too late head coach who 409 00:20:29,119 --> 00:20:35,600 Speaker 1: did and everything else in their own goal compared virtually 410 00:20:35,600 --> 00:20:38,040 Speaker 1: any coach in the league because they're down to point there. 411 00:20:38,200 --> 00:20:42,000 Speaker 1: The analytics would actually say, I don't know this for effects, 412 00:20:42,000 --> 00:20:44,080 Speaker 1: but I'm guessing it would be much more down on 413 00:20:44,119 --> 00:20:45,879 Speaker 1: going for the two there because there's still a minute 414 00:20:45,920 --> 00:20:47,760 Speaker 1: left that you give the other team a chance to 415 00:20:47,760 --> 00:20:50,920 Speaker 1: go win. That's more traditionally a place you just take 416 00:20:50,960 --> 00:20:53,240 Speaker 1: the points because there's a minute left, the other team 417 00:20:53,320 --> 00:20:55,760 Speaker 1: gets set up to win, which the Titans you know 418 00:20:55,840 --> 00:20:57,680 Speaker 1: did by the way, So you're taking all that risks 419 00:20:57,680 --> 00:21:00,200 Speaker 1: without the payoff. But I love that. It's trusting your 420 00:21:00,200 --> 00:21:03,760 Speaker 1: best player, say Kwan Barkley, and I'm so glad I 421 00:21:03,800 --> 00:21:06,040 Speaker 1: got to see that highlight before. You know, as we're 422 00:21:06,119 --> 00:21:08,280 Speaker 1: we're talking, if you're watching us on YouTube, it's it's 423 00:21:08,280 --> 00:21:11,840 Speaker 1: also going up there, um for all our audio listeners. 424 00:21:12,200 --> 00:21:16,000 Speaker 1: His lateral quickness on that play is what got it done. 425 00:21:16,160 --> 00:21:18,800 Speaker 1: I mean, the Titans linebacker is in position to many 426 00:21:21,200 --> 00:21:22,840 Speaker 1: and he can just scow it. And you could see 427 00:21:22,880 --> 00:21:25,320 Speaker 1: that in a little bit of practice footage and the 428 00:21:25,359 --> 00:21:27,919 Speaker 1: preseason that we saw of Barkley that like, wow, that 429 00:21:28,040 --> 00:21:32,479 Speaker 1: lateral explosion, Uh is absolutely back. Another preseason star, Kyle Phillips, 430 00:21:32,480 --> 00:21:35,400 Speaker 1: who we kept talking up, was the leading receiver the time, 431 00:21:36,560 --> 00:21:38,400 Speaker 1: by the way, because his numbers looked like he maybe 432 00:21:38,520 --> 00:21:42,080 Speaker 1: stopped finally, you know, indulging in edibles before practicing games. 433 00:21:42,640 --> 00:21:44,720 Speaker 1: Raylon Burks looked pretty good. I mean, he had a 434 00:21:44,800 --> 00:21:48,280 Speaker 1: few big catches. He was targeted on another one that 435 00:21:48,280 --> 00:21:51,239 Speaker 1: that Um didn't come down with, but he looked pretty good. 436 00:21:51,280 --> 00:21:53,720 Speaker 1: Kyle Phillips was pretty good. But Kyle Phillips had a 437 00:21:53,720 --> 00:21:57,320 Speaker 1: almost killer muffed punt which is what set up the 438 00:21:57,359 --> 00:21:59,920 Speaker 1: Amani hook again it but he ran a perfect round minute, 439 00:22:00,000 --> 00:22:02,280 Speaker 1: perfect catch to set up the game winning play and 440 00:22:02,280 --> 00:22:04,359 Speaker 1: that was that was a timing type of throw that 441 00:22:04,400 --> 00:22:06,320 Speaker 1: you have to trust he's gonna be exactly where it was. 442 00:22:06,600 --> 00:22:08,880 Speaker 1: And it gets me to one thing that drives me crazy. 443 00:22:08,960 --> 00:22:11,920 Speaker 1: In the NFL, how badly botched that end of game 444 00:22:11,960 --> 00:22:14,840 Speaker 1: sequence was by Rabo, the head coach of the Year, 445 00:22:15,000 --> 00:22:18,920 Speaker 1: did not play that very well. He they used a 446 00:22:19,000 --> 00:22:22,040 Speaker 1: time out to prevent a delay of game. Ryan Tannehill 447 00:22:22,080 --> 00:22:23,960 Speaker 1: had to snap off, but they had already called the 448 00:22:23,960 --> 00:22:26,840 Speaker 1: time out to prevent the delay. I would have rather 449 00:22:26,920 --> 00:22:29,119 Speaker 1: taken five yards at that point than I then I 450 00:22:29,160 --> 00:22:31,480 Speaker 1: wouldn't waste the time out. So use your time out. 451 00:22:31,560 --> 00:22:33,520 Speaker 1: You had two or three plays left there. Instead they 452 00:22:33,600 --> 00:22:36,280 Speaker 1: back up three or four yards to make big bone. 453 00:22:36,359 --> 00:22:40,080 Speaker 1: Randy hit it right to Dan's don't I don't know 454 00:22:40,119 --> 00:22:44,359 Speaker 1: why do this? Don't ever settle for a forty five 455 00:22:44,440 --> 00:22:50,600 Speaker 1: to forty yards running a quick ur in the moment 456 00:22:50,640 --> 00:22:52,520 Speaker 1: as well, This is not the guys just stroking it 457 00:22:52,560 --> 00:22:56,480 Speaker 1: in practice. You need to give them more h latitude there. 458 00:22:56,680 --> 00:22:58,520 Speaker 1: And you put your kicker in a bad spot and 459 00:22:58,560 --> 00:23:01,000 Speaker 1: he failed you. And that's the way it is. And 460 00:23:01,040 --> 00:23:02,679 Speaker 1: by the way, they also looked like you knew who 461 00:23:02,720 --> 00:23:04,480 Speaker 1: was gonna miss that kick. Went to look on his face. 462 00:23:04,520 --> 00:23:10,320 Speaker 1: I just well, look on his face that um, the Titans. Now, 463 00:23:10,359 --> 00:23:12,440 Speaker 1: they do this for a reason, the schedule makers. They 464 00:23:12,480 --> 00:23:15,800 Speaker 1: give you the cookie to start the season at home 465 00:23:16,160 --> 00:23:18,520 Speaker 1: against the g Men, and then they say, we're giving 466 00:23:18,520 --> 00:23:21,000 Speaker 1: you the cookie because we're sending you to Buffalo next week. 467 00:23:21,359 --> 00:23:23,680 Speaker 1: And guess what Monday night they have to now play 468 00:23:23,720 --> 00:23:26,639 Speaker 1: the Bills the Titans, and the Giants get the Panthers. 469 00:23:26,640 --> 00:23:28,399 Speaker 1: So they're potentially set up for a nice start to 470 00:23:28,440 --> 00:23:31,199 Speaker 1: their season. We're just getting started here. Let's take a 471 00:23:31,240 --> 00:23:33,400 Speaker 1: break and then we're gonna We're gonna welcome in an 472 00:23:33,400 --> 00:23:37,720 Speaker 1: old friend, all right, and welcome back. Here we are. 473 00:23:38,680 --> 00:23:41,840 Speaker 1: I told you a friend was joining us. Mary is 474 00:23:41,880 --> 00:23:47,359 Speaker 1: a man ready to be married. Now, Nick Shook, welcome 475 00:23:47,480 --> 00:23:50,920 Speaker 1: back to the flagship program. It's another season together in 476 00:23:51,000 --> 00:23:55,720 Speaker 1: congratulations on your upcoming nuptials. Sir, thank you so much. 477 00:23:55,760 --> 00:23:58,440 Speaker 1: You know, I hate to kill the running podcast bit, 478 00:23:58,560 --> 00:24:01,680 Speaker 1: but long enough I had to get the job done. 479 00:24:01,760 --> 00:24:04,000 Speaker 1: You know, how much do you how much credit do 480 00:24:04,040 --> 00:24:08,600 Speaker 1: you give Dan and and this show question forgetting it done? 481 00:24:08,640 --> 00:24:10,520 Speaker 1: Because it had been putting pressure on you for a 482 00:24:10,560 --> 00:24:14,280 Speaker 1: long time. I would give it to get the ball rolling, 483 00:24:14,480 --> 00:24:18,160 Speaker 1: and then you know, and the other was me. I mean, 484 00:24:18,480 --> 00:24:20,000 Speaker 1: it's a lot, right, you know, I know, I'm just 485 00:24:20,080 --> 00:24:22,080 Speaker 1: kidding you got you guys gave me a little nudge, 486 00:24:22,119 --> 00:24:24,919 Speaker 1: but it was gonna happen regardless. Uh I was actually 487 00:24:24,920 --> 00:24:26,600 Speaker 1: waiting to make it real special in l A and 488 00:24:26,640 --> 00:24:29,480 Speaker 1: then uh I got tired of waiting and just said, well, 489 00:24:29,480 --> 00:24:31,600 Speaker 1: there's a nice speech on Lake Erie in the sun setting. 490 00:24:31,680 --> 00:24:33,480 Speaker 1: And I woke up that morning it was just said, 491 00:24:33,480 --> 00:24:35,359 Speaker 1: I'm doing it today. Would you did you put the 492 00:24:35,440 --> 00:24:37,040 Speaker 1: ring on a credit card? Or do you have that 493 00:24:37,119 --> 00:24:41,560 Speaker 1: cash stored away like a wise investor? Funny that you 494 00:24:41,640 --> 00:24:45,239 Speaker 1: asked that. Interestingly enough, when I first met her, how 495 00:24:45,280 --> 00:24:47,960 Speaker 1: much I didn't have a sit I didn't have a 496 00:24:47,960 --> 00:24:51,320 Speaker 1: savings account, and that was my inspiration actually started savings 497 00:24:51,359 --> 00:24:53,080 Speaker 1: account was because I one day I thought, you know, 498 00:24:53,160 --> 00:24:57,960 Speaker 1: I think she might be the savings account for that month. 499 00:24:58,520 --> 00:25:01,480 Speaker 1: All right, congratulations chook. Let's dig in on some a 500 00:25:01,640 --> 00:25:05,280 Speaker 1: f C North heat, starting with a trip to Cincinnati. 501 00:25:05,440 --> 00:25:10,040 Speaker 1: Checking in with the defending American Football Conference champions straight 502 00:25:10,040 --> 00:25:13,560 Speaker 1: away to kick good snap down kickers on its way 503 00:25:13,800 --> 00:25:17,160 Speaker 1: that kickers long enough, high en up, and it's good 504 00:25:17,920 --> 00:25:24,080 Speaker 1: that kicking on the Steelers survive in Cincinnati. Howard happened. 505 00:25:24,359 --> 00:25:27,240 Speaker 1: It'll take you an hour, me an hour to tell you. 506 00:25:29,640 --> 00:25:32,480 Speaker 1: Bill He'll grow with it. Called w d V E. 507 00:25:32,600 --> 00:25:35,040 Speaker 1: That might have been Craig Wolfley yelling in the background. 508 00:25:35,960 --> 00:25:38,160 Speaker 1: Chris Bobswell kick the fifty three yard field goals time 509 00:25:38,160 --> 00:25:42,719 Speaker 1: expirering overtime, and the Steelers overcome t J. Watts injury 510 00:25:42,800 --> 00:25:46,480 Speaker 1: late in the fourth quarter to beat the Bengals. It 511 00:25:46,640 --> 00:25:50,240 Speaker 1: was sloppy from both sides, but at the end shook 512 00:25:50,280 --> 00:25:52,960 Speaker 1: Pittsburgh's win. Here felt like a near miracle. You had 513 00:25:53,240 --> 00:25:55,520 Speaker 1: the Bengals failing to convert a p A T at 514 00:25:55,520 --> 00:25:57,720 Speaker 1: the end of regulation that would have won the game. 515 00:25:58,040 --> 00:26:00,200 Speaker 1: Then they have a short field goal blocked at think 516 00:26:00,520 --> 00:26:04,080 Speaker 1: the snapper was involved in both miss q's here, and 517 00:26:04,119 --> 00:26:06,720 Speaker 1: that opened the door for Trabinsky and then Boswell to 518 00:26:06,760 --> 00:26:08,720 Speaker 1: get it done. And we'll get to we'll get to 519 00:26:08,800 --> 00:26:10,880 Speaker 1: t J. Watt in a second, but first let's focus 520 00:26:11,160 --> 00:26:14,359 Speaker 1: on what was a gutty win for Pittsburgh. Gutty win 521 00:26:14,480 --> 00:26:17,040 Speaker 1: powered by their defense. I mean we we we I 522 00:26:17,040 --> 00:26:19,320 Speaker 1: think Greg would attest to this to the Steelers defense 523 00:26:19,359 --> 00:26:20,960 Speaker 1: has a reputation for being good, but it wasn't as 524 00:26:21,000 --> 00:26:24,439 Speaker 1: good as maybe we thought last year. They reversed that narrative. 525 00:26:24,720 --> 00:26:27,640 Speaker 1: That narrative today. I mean, they came out like Gangbusters. 526 00:26:27,720 --> 00:26:30,240 Speaker 1: Make a Fitzpatrick picks off, Joe Burrows first past the 527 00:26:30,280 --> 00:26:33,080 Speaker 1: season for a pick six. T J. Watt jumps up 528 00:26:33,080 --> 00:26:35,480 Speaker 1: and gets a pick, there's a forced fumble. They're all 529 00:26:35,480 --> 00:26:38,800 Speaker 1: over him all day. That revamped offensive line struggled, specifically 530 00:26:38,800 --> 00:26:40,840 Speaker 1: a left guard, and the Steelers took advantage of that. 531 00:26:41,119 --> 00:26:43,560 Speaker 1: They put them on short fields. Travisky didn't have to 532 00:26:43,560 --> 00:26:45,760 Speaker 1: do too much offensively because two of their fourth scoring 533 00:26:45,840 --> 00:26:49,080 Speaker 1: drives started in Cincinnati territory. It wasn't until they actually 534 00:26:49,160 --> 00:26:50,919 Speaker 1: kicked the game winner that they went close to the 535 00:26:50,960 --> 00:26:52,399 Speaker 1: length of the field to get in position for that, 536 00:26:52,480 --> 00:26:54,119 Speaker 1: and that wasn't even close really to the length of 537 00:26:54,119 --> 00:26:55,640 Speaker 1: the field that they start on their own twenties. So 538 00:26:55,960 --> 00:26:57,880 Speaker 1: all the credit in the world goes to their defense, 539 00:26:58,040 --> 00:27:00,760 Speaker 1: their offense to us and steps to take forward. But man, 540 00:27:00,840 --> 00:27:02,639 Speaker 1: this is a group that made some editions in the 541 00:27:02,680 --> 00:27:05,240 Speaker 1: off season, and all of those editions really paid off. 542 00:27:05,320 --> 00:27:07,920 Speaker 1: Cam Sutton had a nice up and down performance where 543 00:27:07,920 --> 00:27:10,120 Speaker 1: he made some big plays, had some also some big errors, 544 00:27:10,119 --> 00:27:12,880 Speaker 1: but redeemed himself. If you're a Steelers fan, you gotta 545 00:27:12,880 --> 00:27:15,520 Speaker 1: feel excited, not because of what you saw necessarily from 546 00:27:15,560 --> 00:27:18,080 Speaker 1: Mr Bisky, but the fact that that defense is looks 547 00:27:18,080 --> 00:27:19,840 Speaker 1: like it's back to where you expect it to be. 548 00:27:19,880 --> 00:27:21,399 Speaker 1: And if it can be like this all year, then 549 00:27:21,440 --> 00:27:23,399 Speaker 1: you're gonna be in every game you play. Yeah, but 550 00:27:23,520 --> 00:27:25,119 Speaker 1: is it going to be like that without t J 551 00:27:25,200 --> 00:27:28,520 Speaker 1: Watt He he left for the pectorial injury. The report 552 00:27:28,880 --> 00:27:32,000 Speaker 1: is that, uh, you know they're they're feeling fearing it's 553 00:27:32,000 --> 00:27:34,960 Speaker 1: a torn pectorial injury. He was almost seen mouthing I 554 00:27:35,000 --> 00:27:37,000 Speaker 1: tore my peck, so that that's what they think and 555 00:27:37,040 --> 00:27:40,960 Speaker 1: that will usually keep you out for much of the season. Uh. 556 00:27:41,000 --> 00:27:44,800 Speaker 1: And their thin there, And yes, I hear what you're saying. 557 00:27:44,840 --> 00:27:47,000 Speaker 1: I'm looking forward to watching it. But it's pretty rare 558 00:27:47,040 --> 00:27:49,200 Speaker 1: that you win a game or a game needs to 559 00:27:49,240 --> 00:27:52,359 Speaker 1: go to overtime. When you win the turnover battle five zero, 560 00:27:52,440 --> 00:27:54,320 Speaker 1: it's like a little bit of a double edged sword 561 00:27:54,320 --> 00:27:57,119 Speaker 1: there where you you lost the first down battle thirty 562 00:27:57,160 --> 00:27:59,840 Speaker 1: two to thirteen. Uh. And it's great that they ended 563 00:27:59,920 --> 00:28:02,080 Speaker 1: up getting the win there, but you would almost expect 564 00:28:02,640 --> 00:28:05,480 Speaker 1: that them to win by more in that kind of situation. Yeah, 565 00:28:05,520 --> 00:28:08,320 Speaker 1: they didn't sustain the offense that you wanted. Um, you know, 566 00:28:08,480 --> 00:28:11,120 Speaker 1: Travisky hit some passes that you were like, Okay, look 567 00:28:11,320 --> 00:28:13,880 Speaker 1: he looks pretty decent. Pat Freremouth down the sideline. Find 568 00:28:13,960 --> 00:28:16,040 Speaker 1: a couple of different guys down the sideline. But if 569 00:28:16,040 --> 00:28:18,640 Speaker 1: you look at it statistically, very average twenty one thirty 570 00:28:18,680 --> 00:28:21,800 Speaker 1: eight of passer rating below eighty. And they lost the 571 00:28:21,840 --> 00:28:23,760 Speaker 1: time of possession battle in a big way that like 572 00:28:23,800 --> 00:28:26,440 Speaker 1: you mentioned with the first down difference, they didn't sustain 573 00:28:26,560 --> 00:28:29,479 Speaker 1: drives for most of the day. Naja Harris was his 574 00:28:29,760 --> 00:28:32,200 Speaker 1: rushing yards overexpected were in the negative, so they didn't 575 00:28:32,200 --> 00:28:36,480 Speaker 1: block well enough for him to really He left with 576 00:28:36,480 --> 00:28:38,560 Speaker 1: the foot injury and he had a Letts let Frank 577 00:28:38,560 --> 00:28:40,520 Speaker 1: injury and can't choose. So that's concerning. Keep an eye 578 00:28:40,520 --> 00:28:42,840 Speaker 1: on that. It's the same foot. Yeah, the Bengals at 579 00:28:42,840 --> 00:28:44,960 Speaker 1: the ball for forty three minutes and forty three seconds. 580 00:28:45,600 --> 00:28:47,760 Speaker 1: Uh in this game. It did go through overtime to 581 00:28:47,800 --> 00:28:50,280 Speaker 1: the very end. But yeah, that would be my concern. 582 00:28:50,360 --> 00:28:54,320 Speaker 1: And I'm looking forward to watching this game because yes, 583 00:28:54,480 --> 00:28:57,480 Speaker 1: it's a gutty win, maybe a miracle win, but two 584 00:28:58,120 --> 00:29:00,760 Speaker 1: one yards of total offense and maybe not Johiris down 585 00:29:00,760 --> 00:29:03,200 Speaker 1: now and now you take out T. J. Watt for 586 00:29:03,280 --> 00:29:06,320 Speaker 1: maybe the season, maybe into deep into the second half, 587 00:29:06,920 --> 00:29:09,680 Speaker 1: and you you feel like Mark that maybe the Steelers, 588 00:29:09,960 --> 00:29:13,560 Speaker 1: even with the win today, there's reason to be concerned. Well, 589 00:29:13,600 --> 00:29:16,600 Speaker 1: I think there's Their offensive line is a major concern. 590 00:29:16,640 --> 00:29:19,440 Speaker 1: They're lucky that they have Mr Rabinsky. What the assets 591 00:29:19,480 --> 00:29:21,960 Speaker 1: that you bring his mobility is escapability. I don't think 592 00:29:21,960 --> 00:29:24,400 Speaker 1: they're gonna be able to work themselves out of jams 593 00:29:24,400 --> 00:29:26,840 Speaker 1: week after week. This this kind of was with the 594 00:29:26,880 --> 00:29:29,320 Speaker 1: weirdest game. I was watching this from wire to wire 595 00:29:29,360 --> 00:29:31,440 Speaker 1: and there's one of the weirdest performances. I have to 596 00:29:31,440 --> 00:29:33,320 Speaker 1: ask you this a thought, Nick, because you look at 597 00:29:33,400 --> 00:29:36,280 Speaker 1: Joe Burrow and I the Bengals all offseason. I feel 598 00:29:36,280 --> 00:29:38,840 Speaker 1: like they were being disrespected a little bit as and 599 00:29:38,960 --> 00:29:41,000 Speaker 1: thinking people they might tail off a little bit, but 600 00:29:41,120 --> 00:29:43,760 Speaker 1: Joe Burrow was the reason that you had faith they 601 00:29:43,800 --> 00:29:45,959 Speaker 1: get back to where they were. Uh. Did you come 602 00:29:46,000 --> 00:29:48,320 Speaker 1: out of this with genuine concern for Joe Burrow? Is 603 00:29:48,360 --> 00:29:50,440 Speaker 1: it just an off day? It felt more like an 604 00:29:50,440 --> 00:29:52,600 Speaker 1: off day, some rust, some lack of reps. I mean 605 00:29:52,680 --> 00:29:54,720 Speaker 1: he did miss miss a good portion of training camp. 606 00:29:54,720 --> 00:29:57,960 Speaker 1: With that appendix, removal, so it felt like he was 607 00:29:58,040 --> 00:29:59,920 Speaker 1: kind of shaking off the rust and he made some 608 00:30:00,000 --> 00:30:02,640 Speaker 1: bad decisions. He was also pressured into some bad decisions. 609 00:30:02,640 --> 00:30:05,000 Speaker 1: Like I said, the left guard was a huge problem 610 00:30:05,040 --> 00:30:07,160 Speaker 1: for me watching their offensive line play because that's supposed 611 00:30:07,160 --> 00:30:09,280 Speaker 1: to be the one weakness that they improved in the 612 00:30:09,320 --> 00:30:11,520 Speaker 1: off season and it just didn't stand up today. It 613 00:30:11,560 --> 00:30:13,800 Speaker 1: didn't hold up against the test of the Steelers front. 614 00:30:13,840 --> 00:30:16,000 Speaker 1: And you give Pittsburgh some credit, but you know, he 615 00:30:16,080 --> 00:30:18,840 Speaker 1: still made plays. He still got them in situations to 616 00:30:18,960 --> 00:30:20,840 Speaker 1: be able to score and lead them back. But I 617 00:30:20,840 --> 00:30:23,080 Speaker 1: mean they they're in the red zone on multiple occasions 618 00:30:23,080 --> 00:30:25,680 Speaker 1: and struggling to get three yards, struggling to get into 619 00:30:25,680 --> 00:30:27,240 Speaker 1: the end zone when they're on the doorstep of the 620 00:30:27,280 --> 00:30:29,640 Speaker 1: goal line. They need fourth down to be able to 621 00:30:29,720 --> 00:30:32,480 Speaker 1: score the game tying touchdown. They leave points on the 622 00:30:32,480 --> 00:30:34,920 Speaker 1: board just before halftime because again they're right on the 623 00:30:34,960 --> 00:30:37,440 Speaker 1: doorstep of the end zone and they don't convert. So 624 00:30:37,800 --> 00:30:40,720 Speaker 1: their strength with Burrow is down field, but when the 625 00:30:40,840 --> 00:30:43,200 Speaker 1: field gets shortened, I am a little concerned about their 626 00:30:43,200 --> 00:30:45,520 Speaker 1: ability to move the football. They're they're not gonna face 627 00:30:45,600 --> 00:30:48,080 Speaker 1: his defense like this every week. But so I mean 628 00:30:48,120 --> 00:30:50,760 Speaker 1: to answer your question in kind of a rambling way. 629 00:30:51,120 --> 00:30:53,440 Speaker 1: It was more rust than anything. I still have confidence, 630 00:30:53,480 --> 00:30:54,880 Speaker 1: and then he still made the plays. I think he 631 00:30:54,960 --> 00:30:57,440 Speaker 1: just gotta get his feet underneath them. The uh. This 632 00:30:57,640 --> 00:31:00,320 Speaker 1: was a really fun game to watch. By the end 633 00:31:00,320 --> 00:31:02,760 Speaker 1: of it, it was almost exhausting because those late games 634 00:31:02,920 --> 00:31:05,560 Speaker 1: start and you're like, all right, guys, let's wrap this up. 635 00:31:05,560 --> 00:31:08,320 Speaker 1: It's a it's a little sloppy. My favorite call call, 636 00:31:08,400 --> 00:31:10,280 Speaker 1: and I think Greg and I both reacted in real 637 00:31:10,320 --> 00:31:13,640 Speaker 1: time to it was Iron Eagle. Boswell won the game 638 00:31:13,640 --> 00:31:15,840 Speaker 1: with a long kick, but he nearly won it earlier 639 00:31:15,840 --> 00:31:18,440 Speaker 1: and over time with a kick at the last moment 640 00:31:18,520 --> 00:31:21,360 Speaker 1: knuckled and drilled the upright at like eighty seven miles 641 00:31:21,360 --> 00:31:23,480 Speaker 1: per hour. Let's listen in too, Iron Eagle with the 642 00:31:23,480 --> 00:31:31,920 Speaker 1: call from boss Well, Oh god, what is happening here? 643 00:31:33,640 --> 00:31:36,360 Speaker 1: Grave joking, we might wanna trim what is happening here 644 00:31:36,400 --> 00:31:39,280 Speaker 1: for our own show going forward? All right, chook. So 645 00:31:39,400 --> 00:31:42,200 Speaker 1: that's the situation with the Steelers, that's the situation of 646 00:31:42,280 --> 00:31:44,160 Speaker 1: the Bengals. And by the way, go to Dallas to 647 00:31:44,200 --> 00:31:47,080 Speaker 1: get the Cowboys next week at oh and one. Now 648 00:31:47,160 --> 00:31:50,200 Speaker 1: I want to come down there for and you know, 649 00:31:50,480 --> 00:31:52,960 Speaker 1: the I know one last thing on that because it's 650 00:31:53,000 --> 00:31:55,400 Speaker 1: so important. They had the game one on the late 651 00:31:55,480 --> 00:31:59,800 Speaker 1: Jamaar Chase touchdown as time expired, uh, and they get 652 00:31:59,840 --> 00:32:02,640 Speaker 1: the p A t blocked by who else makea Fitzpatrick. 653 00:32:03,160 --> 00:32:05,720 Speaker 1: And then there was an issue on the snap as 654 00:32:05,760 --> 00:32:07,640 Speaker 1: well on the short field goal kick. What was the 655 00:32:07,680 --> 00:32:10,200 Speaker 1: background there with the snapper and what happened with the 656 00:32:10,200 --> 00:32:12,600 Speaker 1: Bengals the back room was that was not their starting 657 00:32:12,640 --> 00:32:16,440 Speaker 1: long snapper. That was a replacement who was thrown in there? 658 00:32:16,600 --> 00:32:20,719 Speaker 1: And obviously they had that feels like the underrated like 659 00:32:20,960 --> 00:32:23,440 Speaker 1: plot line in football, whether it's a long snapper or 660 00:32:23,440 --> 00:32:26,040 Speaker 1: the kicker, there's nobody behind him you could trust. So 661 00:32:27,880 --> 00:32:32,080 Speaker 1: there there's nothing worse though, like for for a Bengal 662 00:32:32,160 --> 00:32:35,040 Speaker 1: season that was just riding as high as possible until 663 00:32:35,080 --> 00:32:37,800 Speaker 1: the very end last year. To lose to the Steelers 664 00:32:38,280 --> 00:32:42,000 Speaker 1: at home, missing these two types of kicks, that's as 665 00:32:42,000 --> 00:32:44,200 Speaker 1: bad as as bad as it gets. All right, and 666 00:32:44,600 --> 00:32:47,400 Speaker 1: let's now move to listen. We don't know where Mark's 667 00:32:47,440 --> 00:32:50,400 Speaker 1: journey is as a fan, but I know Shookie. He's 668 00:32:50,400 --> 00:32:54,120 Speaker 1: born in Bread, he's Ohio. And the Browns had a 669 00:32:54,160 --> 00:33:01,160 Speaker 1: game today against the Carolina Panthers, and it ended well 670 00:33:00,400 --> 00:33:04,040 Speaker 1: up for work. We did snee on the ground at 671 00:33:04,600 --> 00:33:08,320 Speaker 1: killing over the ball back, he's into it, rind end 672 00:33:08,360 --> 00:33:10,600 Speaker 1: On ranting to kick it up and it is hit. 673 00:33:10,720 --> 00:33:19,800 Speaker 1: It is good, Gork, but that seconds the ball game 674 00:33:21,160 --> 00:33:25,840 Speaker 1: great called by Jim Donovan w k r K. Here's 675 00:33:25,880 --> 00:33:30,040 Speaker 1: the quote from Mark Adam Sessler immediately to my left, 676 00:33:30,040 --> 00:33:35,000 Speaker 1: not my middle name, Oh god, Cleveland, just one. What 677 00:33:35,040 --> 00:33:37,680 Speaker 1: does it mean? We're gonna get into that later? What 678 00:33:37,720 --> 00:33:40,800 Speaker 1: was the inflection all about? What was in his professional 679 00:33:41,320 --> 00:33:44,440 Speaker 1: in his head? Rookie Cad York kicked to go ahead 680 00:33:44,480 --> 00:33:47,120 Speaker 1: fifty eight yard field goal of eight seconds to play. 681 00:33:47,160 --> 00:33:51,440 Speaker 1: Cream Hunt scored two times and the Brown said, Baker, 682 00:33:52,840 --> 00:33:58,680 Speaker 1: you're not gonna have anybody up vengeance denied win over 683 00:33:58,800 --> 00:34:01,880 Speaker 1: the Panthers for the Browns in Charlotte Chookie. The Browns 684 00:34:01,880 --> 00:34:04,760 Speaker 1: had a messy off off season, to say the least, 685 00:34:04,800 --> 00:34:07,440 Speaker 1: but a dramatic win in the season opener is how 686 00:34:07,480 --> 00:34:10,360 Speaker 1: they wanted to turn the page. Yeah, and part of 687 00:34:10,400 --> 00:34:13,120 Speaker 1: the off season transition included a replacement of color commentator 688 00:34:13,120 --> 00:34:15,160 Speaker 1: in the booth. The person you here screaming and almost 689 00:34:15,239 --> 00:34:18,200 Speaker 1: voice cracking is Nathan's Girv, the senior broadcaster for the 690 00:34:18,200 --> 00:34:23,160 Speaker 1: team commentary debut, shout out to him and understanding that 691 00:34:23,560 --> 00:34:27,200 Speaker 1: he couldn't control his emotions and then usiastic individual. Yeah, 692 00:34:27,239 --> 00:34:29,960 Speaker 1: he certainly is. Uh so, I mean this this is 693 00:34:29,960 --> 00:34:32,160 Speaker 1: a game that result wise surprised me. I had picked 694 00:34:32,160 --> 00:34:33,719 Speaker 1: the Panthers and and got all the heat from the 695 00:34:33,760 --> 00:34:37,719 Speaker 1: Browns fans this week understandably so um and mainly because 696 00:34:37,719 --> 00:34:39,239 Speaker 1: I didn't think the Browns can actually put up this 697 00:34:39,280 --> 00:34:41,440 Speaker 1: many points. Not that is a lot of points, but 698 00:34:41,480 --> 00:34:43,960 Speaker 1: if you watch their offense in this game, they can't 699 00:34:44,000 --> 00:34:46,480 Speaker 1: move the ball very consistently unless it's on the ground. 700 00:34:46,480 --> 00:34:48,520 Speaker 1: They ran the crap out of the football on the ground, 701 00:34:48,520 --> 00:34:50,160 Speaker 1: had over two hundred rushing yards as a team I 702 00:34:50,160 --> 00:34:52,960 Speaker 1: think the finish of two seventeen on the ground. Obviously 703 00:34:53,040 --> 00:34:55,640 Speaker 1: Nick Chubb carrying the way with a hundred forty one carries, 704 00:34:55,719 --> 00:34:57,880 Speaker 1: but Kareem Hunt was really the X factor offensively. He 705 00:34:57,920 --> 00:35:00,520 Speaker 1: had a touchdown reception lined up as a full back 706 00:35:00,560 --> 00:35:02,440 Speaker 1: in the eye formation on the goal line, which is 707 00:35:02,480 --> 00:35:04,759 Speaker 1: a dead giveaway fullback flat. Hello, they're gonna throw at 708 00:35:04,760 --> 00:35:06,680 Speaker 1: the Hunt in the flat look out for that. The 709 00:35:06,680 --> 00:35:12,240 Speaker 1: Panthers did not but he also ripped that regime. Yeah exactly, 710 00:35:12,520 --> 00:35:14,840 Speaker 1: yeah exactly. Not not prepared in the situation, but the 711 00:35:14,840 --> 00:35:17,560 Speaker 1: personnel but that and then Donovan People's Jones made a 712 00:35:17,560 --> 00:35:20,320 Speaker 1: handful of really clutched catches throughout the game. That's the 713 00:35:20,360 --> 00:35:21,839 Speaker 1: guy that the Browns are really gonna need to step 714 00:35:21,920 --> 00:35:24,400 Speaker 1: up offensively. So the story of the game is controlled 715 00:35:24,440 --> 00:35:26,839 Speaker 1: the clock, controlled possession on the ground, and did enough 716 00:35:26,880 --> 00:35:30,600 Speaker 1: defensively to help yourself feel position wise getting situations where 717 00:35:30,600 --> 00:35:32,000 Speaker 1: you can maybe put some points on the board. They 718 00:35:32,080 --> 00:35:34,480 Speaker 1: left a lot of points out there on the field, however, 719 00:35:34,520 --> 00:35:36,600 Speaker 1: which is concerning and goes back to why I picked 720 00:35:36,600 --> 00:35:39,359 Speaker 1: them to lose this game. Cookie the and as much 721 00:35:39,360 --> 00:35:43,839 Speaker 1: as we can deride Caroline's coaching staff, the idea that 722 00:35:44,280 --> 00:35:47,440 Speaker 1: anyone thinks that Jacoby were set with that surrounding cast 723 00:35:47,560 --> 00:35:50,879 Speaker 1: of playmakers is gonna put up big points. Nobody thinks 724 00:35:50,880 --> 00:35:53,600 Speaker 1: that so was sharp was Caroline is stack in the box? 725 00:35:53,680 --> 00:35:56,839 Speaker 1: We have eight nine facing uh these two running backs, 726 00:35:56,880 --> 00:35:58,640 Speaker 1: because that feels like how everyone should be playing the 727 00:35:58,640 --> 00:36:00,399 Speaker 1: Browns and they shouldn't be able to move the at all, 728 00:36:01,600 --> 00:36:03,359 Speaker 1: not in a per down basis. There were times where 729 00:36:03,400 --> 00:36:05,440 Speaker 1: I only saw six guys in the box, and you 730 00:36:05,480 --> 00:36:07,439 Speaker 1: gotta credit the Browns offensive line. The one thing they've 731 00:36:07,440 --> 00:36:09,919 Speaker 1: been able to do under Kevin Stefanski is block well 732 00:36:09,960 --> 00:36:12,200 Speaker 1: on outside runs. They were able to do that very 733 00:36:12,280 --> 00:36:15,279 Speaker 1: effectively today and give Nick Chuck just enough room to 734 00:36:15,360 --> 00:36:17,360 Speaker 1: hit that one cut and burst up the field and 735 00:36:17,440 --> 00:36:19,520 Speaker 1: rip off some nice runs. I think I saw a 736 00:36:19,560 --> 00:36:21,640 Speaker 1: graphic late in the game where it was average down 737 00:36:21,640 --> 00:36:24,000 Speaker 1: in distance on third down, the Panthers were something like 738 00:36:24,080 --> 00:36:26,760 Speaker 1: ten plus and the Browns are at six point six. 739 00:36:26,800 --> 00:36:28,520 Speaker 1: And that all goes back to the fact that you 740 00:36:28,520 --> 00:36:30,279 Speaker 1: can stay on schedule in first and second down to 741 00:36:30,360 --> 00:36:32,040 Speaker 1: ruin the football. Even late when they had to get 742 00:36:32,040 --> 00:36:34,279 Speaker 1: in position to kick that game winning field goal, they 743 00:36:34,280 --> 00:36:36,680 Speaker 1: were still going to the run because they knew it 744 00:36:36,760 --> 00:36:39,600 Speaker 1: was their best way to move the football. So they're 745 00:36:39,640 --> 00:36:41,680 Speaker 1: built to be able to win games like this if 746 00:36:41,719 --> 00:36:43,680 Speaker 1: they can get defensive stops. They played a really good 747 00:36:43,680 --> 00:36:46,600 Speaker 1: half defensively until the final possession for the Panthers. They 748 00:36:46,640 --> 00:36:49,080 Speaker 1: had some blown coverages and then the avalanche came. Because 749 00:36:49,120 --> 00:36:51,880 Speaker 1: again they blew some coverages. It looked like Baker Mayfield 750 00:36:51,880 --> 00:36:54,279 Speaker 1: was going to lead a comeback win, but ultimately the 751 00:36:54,320 --> 00:36:56,560 Speaker 1: Browns got something that they never get in this situation, 752 00:36:56,560 --> 00:36:58,479 Speaker 1: which is a clutch kick. Usually they're on the losing 753 00:36:58,560 --> 00:37:01,160 Speaker 1: end of this situation. I'm sitting there watching it bridgets here. 754 00:37:01,480 --> 00:37:05,080 Speaker 1: You know, now, my fiance, no chance he makes this chance, 755 00:37:05,120 --> 00:37:08,080 Speaker 1: he makes this that he's he's not making this field goal. 756 00:37:08,080 --> 00:37:09,920 Speaker 1: They're losing this game, and he drilled it. So the 757 00:37:10,239 --> 00:37:11,879 Speaker 1: turn of events for the brown When the last time 758 00:37:11,920 --> 00:37:14,000 Speaker 1: they won an opener with I mean I mentioned this 759 00:37:14,040 --> 00:37:16,920 Speaker 1: four hundred times on the broadcast, was the first year 760 00:37:16,960 --> 00:37:18,719 Speaker 1: I moved to l A, which is two thousand four. 761 00:37:19,080 --> 00:37:22,480 Speaker 1: That is an absurd um anti streak right there. So 762 00:37:22,640 --> 00:37:26,600 Speaker 1: this was big for the Browns. It sure was Shookie. 763 00:37:26,640 --> 00:37:29,160 Speaker 1: Any other thoughts about Mayfield. Did you think that he 764 00:37:29,200 --> 00:37:31,239 Speaker 1: played well in this game? I know it started off 765 00:37:31,480 --> 00:37:34,040 Speaker 1: extremely slowly, but he really came on and almost stole it. 766 00:37:35,120 --> 00:37:37,319 Speaker 1: He was puture in the first half. A lot of 767 00:37:37,320 --> 00:37:40,600 Speaker 1: the familiar things for Baker, passes, knockdown to the line 768 00:37:40,600 --> 00:37:44,320 Speaker 1: of scrimmage, really ugly interception, throwne offense looking out of sync. 769 00:37:44,400 --> 00:37:46,600 Speaker 1: But when guys were open, he did find them and 770 00:37:46,600 --> 00:37:48,680 Speaker 1: he really hit his stride. In the second half, especially 771 00:37:48,680 --> 00:37:51,280 Speaker 1: in the fourth quarter, it looked like a textbook Mayfield 772 00:37:51,280 --> 00:37:53,160 Speaker 1: comeback game, but this time he did not end up 773 00:37:53,160 --> 00:37:55,160 Speaker 1: on the winning end. This was a tough spot. I 774 00:37:55,160 --> 00:37:57,080 Speaker 1: I wanted both of these teams to lose, and not 775 00:37:57,160 --> 00:37:59,120 Speaker 1: that I was a huge Baker fan before the last 776 00:37:59,160 --> 00:38:01,920 Speaker 1: couple of weeks, but he completely lost me. So I 777 00:38:02,000 --> 00:38:04,120 Speaker 1: was rooting against him, and then of course rooting against 778 00:38:04,120 --> 00:38:06,759 Speaker 1: the Browns sort of semi permanently. So it was like 779 00:38:06,800 --> 00:38:08,319 Speaker 1: there was no way to win this game. What was 780 00:38:08,360 --> 00:38:11,960 Speaker 1: up with the Christian McCaffrey usage here? Only fourteen touches? 781 00:38:12,400 --> 00:38:14,719 Speaker 1: Is this go back to them now just being so 782 00:38:14,800 --> 00:38:17,480 Speaker 1: paranoid about him getting hurt that they're really trying to 783 00:38:17,480 --> 00:38:19,640 Speaker 1: ease him out of the offense a little bit. Well, 784 00:38:19,680 --> 00:38:20,960 Speaker 1: they tried to get him the ball early, and the 785 00:38:20,960 --> 00:38:22,839 Speaker 1: Browns did a really good job of bottling him up. 786 00:38:22,880 --> 00:38:24,680 Speaker 1: It wasn't until the second half that he really made 787 00:38:24,680 --> 00:38:26,520 Speaker 1: a difference. He had a nice run on third and 788 00:38:26,520 --> 00:38:28,960 Speaker 1: seven where he broke four tackles to move the chains 789 00:38:29,000 --> 00:38:31,319 Speaker 1: on one of their key scoring drives. But yeah, just 790 00:38:31,360 --> 00:38:33,320 Speaker 1: not a big enough of a focal part of the offense. 791 00:38:33,360 --> 00:38:35,239 Speaker 1: And and the big reason was they just had no 792 00:38:35,360 --> 00:38:39,160 Speaker 1: rhythm offensively, They had no opportunity to kind of continuously 793 00:38:39,280 --> 00:38:42,040 Speaker 1: feed him the football because they were constantly behind schedule 794 00:38:42,200 --> 00:38:44,600 Speaker 1: third and long and the Browns knew that the screens 795 00:38:44,640 --> 00:38:47,120 Speaker 1: were coming and it just didn't give a lot of opportunities. Now, 796 00:38:47,120 --> 00:38:49,719 Speaker 1: he did score touchdown going airborne, which I was like, oh, man, 797 00:38:49,760 --> 00:38:51,440 Speaker 1: don't get hurt. Just because of how he's gotten hurt 798 00:38:51,440 --> 00:38:54,359 Speaker 1: in the past, I would anticipate that they work him 799 00:38:54,360 --> 00:38:56,719 Speaker 1: in more because that's their best chance. No matter who 800 00:38:56,760 --> 00:38:59,120 Speaker 1: they haven't receiver and tight end, he's still their best 801 00:38:59,600 --> 00:39:02,480 Speaker 1: chance ago win games. So they have to be feeding 802 00:39:02,520 --> 00:39:04,319 Speaker 1: him more than they did on Sunday. All right, So 803 00:39:04,360 --> 00:39:08,040 Speaker 1: now let's talk, um, Greg, I'll start with you in 804 00:39:08,080 --> 00:39:11,920 Speaker 1: this just me, Um, where did you? Where did you 805 00:39:12,000 --> 00:39:14,759 Speaker 1: see Cessler? I was sessy in the newsroom to you, 806 00:39:15,440 --> 00:39:19,839 Speaker 1: and we've known him for a decade and no one 807 00:39:19,920 --> 00:39:22,360 Speaker 1: loves the Browns more than Mark Sessler and shook you. 808 00:39:22,520 --> 00:39:24,560 Speaker 1: He shook you know, and in the distant rear view, 809 00:39:24,600 --> 00:39:26,919 Speaker 1: I'm sorry, Nick, like this was this was the Mark 810 00:39:27,000 --> 00:39:29,480 Speaker 1: that we knew was in love. And I thought some 811 00:39:29,520 --> 00:39:32,520 Speaker 1: of the comments he was making maybe spoke to that 812 00:39:32,600 --> 00:39:36,279 Speaker 1: was still inside him, which was my curiosity entering Sunday's act, right, 813 00:39:36,320 --> 00:39:38,040 Speaker 1: I mean it really You can even go back to 814 00:39:38,120 --> 00:39:41,040 Speaker 1: Wednesday or so on our text thread when he found 815 00:39:41,040 --> 00:39:43,359 Speaker 1: out that this was Shooks game and he was like, 816 00:39:43,440 --> 00:39:45,600 Speaker 1: what that Shooks gape? That that right, there was the 817 00:39:45,719 --> 00:39:48,840 Speaker 1: early that was an early tale. But it's like you 818 00:39:48,840 --> 00:39:51,319 Speaker 1: can even you can watch it, you can still watch it. 819 00:39:51,880 --> 00:39:53,960 Speaker 1: Well that's kind of the point, right, And then you 820 00:39:53,960 --> 00:39:56,200 Speaker 1: you mentioned that quote that he said, oh god, the 821 00:39:56,200 --> 00:39:58,520 Speaker 1: Browns one, and I'll let you talk about the tone 822 00:39:58,560 --> 00:40:04,640 Speaker 1: of that quote. But one thing I've noticed by the way, 823 00:40:03,239 --> 00:40:09,799 Speaker 1: it PM Eastern when apparently the quarterback for Cleveland did 824 00:40:09,840 --> 00:40:13,200 Speaker 1: something Jacobe were set making a play, right, right, I 825 00:40:13,239 --> 00:40:16,200 Speaker 1: do remember it was a rare sight in. But if 826 00:40:16,239 --> 00:40:18,520 Speaker 1: you kind of just make that a different game, is 827 00:40:18,520 --> 00:40:21,400 Speaker 1: he's saying Kirk Cousins making a play in that situation. 828 00:40:21,440 --> 00:40:23,520 Speaker 1: I don't. I don't hear that. Well. So one thing 829 00:40:23,520 --> 00:40:25,480 Speaker 1: I've noticed over the years with Mark though, is post 830 00:40:25,520 --> 00:40:27,520 Speaker 1: Browns game. So I'm gonna take it till the game's over. 831 00:40:28,200 --> 00:40:29,719 Speaker 1: We'll get to you. Mark, just hang on a second 832 00:40:29,920 --> 00:40:34,760 Speaker 1: post Browns game following a victory. Um, he'll be really 833 00:40:34,800 --> 00:40:37,359 Speaker 1: excited for the early parts of the next game. He'll 834 00:40:37,400 --> 00:40:40,480 Speaker 1: be super into it. He'll be like really fired up 835 00:40:40,520 --> 00:40:43,000 Speaker 1: about what's happening to Kyler Murray and Patrick Mahomes in 836 00:40:43,040 --> 00:40:46,239 Speaker 1: certain things. If they win, if they lose. Sometimes it's 837 00:40:46,239 --> 00:40:48,359 Speaker 1: a it's a little bit more of a quieter Mark, 838 00:40:48,480 --> 00:40:50,240 Speaker 1: you know what I mean? And he had a special 839 00:40:50,280 --> 00:40:53,480 Speaker 1: sort of zeal, even a yeah exactly. Everything had a 840 00:40:53,520 --> 00:40:55,520 Speaker 1: little more light to it. So just well, this is 841 00:40:55,520 --> 00:40:59,040 Speaker 1: your impression. Do you have any take on this? And 842 00:40:59,200 --> 00:41:02,799 Speaker 1: think you've been watching from a distance with Mark? I 843 00:41:02,840 --> 00:41:04,920 Speaker 1: think it's Greg summed up best in a text. He 844 00:41:04,960 --> 00:41:06,480 Speaker 1: asked me what my games were for this week, and 845 00:41:06,520 --> 00:41:09,480 Speaker 1: of course I listed the Browns and UH and the Panthers, 846 00:41:09,640 --> 00:41:12,160 Speaker 1: and he texted me back, you will make it easier 847 00:41:12,200 --> 00:41:14,040 Speaker 1: for Mark to give up the Browns, And I said, 848 00:41:14,800 --> 00:41:18,600 Speaker 1: I will bear his cross. That's nice of you all. 849 00:41:18,760 --> 00:41:21,400 Speaker 1: Do you have anything to add about Did you feel anything, 850 00:41:21,560 --> 00:41:24,960 Speaker 1: you know, flicker inside you during that stirring come back 851 00:41:25,000 --> 00:41:28,359 Speaker 1: there at the end. I'm trying to explain this to 852 00:41:28,400 --> 00:41:33,279 Speaker 1: you probably twice three times a week. I'm comfortable with 853 00:41:33,600 --> 00:41:36,680 Speaker 1: my decision. And I actually was enjoying football more in 854 00:41:36,760 --> 00:41:43,240 Speaker 1: general today because I wasn't emotionally attached to one team 855 00:41:42,560 --> 00:41:45,560 Speaker 1: and like I again, that did not really I know, 856 00:41:45,840 --> 00:41:48,560 Speaker 1: I know what we're attempting to do here, Um Greg, 857 00:41:48,600 --> 00:41:51,360 Speaker 1: I think that I was. I was probably commenting on 858 00:41:52,000 --> 00:41:54,799 Speaker 1: eight or nine games today. Now we have to read 859 00:41:54,840 --> 00:41:57,800 Speaker 1: into that. He's gonna try to camouflage it in as 860 00:41:57,840 --> 00:42:00,799 Speaker 1: we're going to do conversations like this. But the thing 861 00:42:00,840 --> 00:42:03,720 Speaker 1: that gets me more than anything is him repeating insistently, 862 00:42:04,200 --> 00:42:06,640 Speaker 1: I feel nothing. It's no different than any other game. 863 00:42:06,800 --> 00:42:08,920 Speaker 1: So how could that even be possible? How could you 864 00:42:08,920 --> 00:42:13,120 Speaker 1: feel nothing? Even if you're somehow landing in the middle. 865 00:42:13,320 --> 00:42:15,880 Speaker 1: You still have all this history you have Baker Mayfield 866 00:42:16,040 --> 00:42:18,680 Speaker 1: was the guy you have de Sean Watson and that 867 00:42:18,840 --> 00:42:21,839 Speaker 1: idea which turned you off so much. You have all 868 00:42:21,880 --> 00:42:23,640 Speaker 1: your years of the Browns, and yet that lands on 869 00:42:23,719 --> 00:42:26,560 Speaker 1: I feel nothing. That doesn't all add up. Even if 870 00:42:26,600 --> 00:42:29,880 Speaker 1: it's confusing, and you surely feel something, that's your psychology 871 00:42:30,360 --> 00:42:31,919 Speaker 1: and this is not I don't want you to see. 872 00:42:31,920 --> 00:42:34,560 Speaker 1: This is ganging up on you. Mark. It's really It's 873 00:42:34,600 --> 00:42:38,640 Speaker 1: an important in terms of the podcast and a character 874 00:42:38,719 --> 00:42:41,160 Speaker 1: study of of someone that we work with very closely 875 00:42:41,200 --> 00:42:43,640 Speaker 1: to get to the bottom of this, and the investigation 876 00:42:43,680 --> 00:42:47,400 Speaker 1: will continue as the season continue one thing. For for 877 00:42:47,640 --> 00:42:49,480 Speaker 1: Nick and for other people. I am like, I have 878 00:42:49,600 --> 00:42:52,040 Speaker 1: nothing against people that are sticking with the Browns, that 879 00:42:52,080 --> 00:42:56,480 Speaker 1: are longtime, lifelong Browns fans. I'm happy for them when 880 00:42:56,520 --> 00:42:59,200 Speaker 1: they win. It's just I have removed myself from the 881 00:42:59,239 --> 00:43:05,759 Speaker 1: situation than a bridge fortely excited about what's occurring. I'll 882 00:43:05,800 --> 00:43:08,839 Speaker 1: say this as somebody who had many huddle up conversations 883 00:43:08,880 --> 00:43:10,960 Speaker 1: with Cessler in the newsroom back in the day after 884 00:43:11,000 --> 00:43:14,279 Speaker 1: the brown suffered yet another excruciating loss. I find it 885 00:43:14,320 --> 00:43:16,320 Speaker 1: hard to believe that he will be able to separate 886 00:43:16,400 --> 00:43:18,879 Speaker 1: so easily than to the course of this season. We'll 887 00:43:18,960 --> 00:43:22,879 Speaker 1: leave it at that. Nick Shook from Cleveland checking in. 888 00:43:23,160 --> 00:43:25,600 Speaker 1: We'll see you next week, buddy. Thanks guys. All right, 889 00:43:26,440 --> 00:43:29,000 Speaker 1: let's ook you with some quirkers there big time. Let's 890 00:43:29,000 --> 00:43:31,960 Speaker 1: take a break and we'll be right back. All right, 891 00:43:32,000 --> 00:43:34,440 Speaker 1: We say goodbye to Shook and let us head to 892 00:43:34,600 --> 00:43:40,359 Speaker 1: the NFC North. Wild stuff going on here. Well that's 893 00:43:40,360 --> 00:44:05,279 Speaker 1: strong maybe so right, just starting great call there by 894 00:44:05,360 --> 00:44:08,799 Speaker 1: Paul Allen kf A. And you know we're old enough 895 00:44:08,840 --> 00:44:13,719 Speaker 1: to have seen Randy Moss at his apex with the Vikings, 896 00:44:14,920 --> 00:44:16,799 Speaker 1: and I didn't think I've ever see anybody that could 897 00:44:16,800 --> 00:44:20,200 Speaker 1: approach Mosson probably won't, but the fact that the Vikings 898 00:44:20,239 --> 00:44:25,040 Speaker 1: have another absolute monster stud in his early twenties with 899 00:44:25,120 --> 00:44:30,279 Speaker 1: Justin Jefferson, that's nice. That's that's riches. Justin Jefferson went 900 00:44:30,280 --> 00:44:35,319 Speaker 1: off for four and two touchdowns, leading the Vikings with 901 00:44:35,400 --> 00:44:39,080 Speaker 1: Kirk Cousins of course, to a seven win over the 902 00:44:39,200 --> 00:44:45,000 Speaker 1: Packers and Kevin O'Connell's debut, and this one is a 903 00:44:45,000 --> 00:44:49,960 Speaker 1: tough way greg for the Packers to begin their defense 904 00:44:50,000 --> 00:44:54,080 Speaker 1: at the NFC North title. No. Looking so hapless on 905 00:44:54,200 --> 00:44:56,520 Speaker 1: both sides of the ball was shocking to me. And 906 00:44:56,600 --> 00:45:01,120 Speaker 1: maybe actually I shouldn't be as shocked because as Justin Jefferson, 907 00:45:01,239 --> 00:45:05,160 Speaker 1: as you mentioned, like is a big time player, Dalvin 908 00:45:05,200 --> 00:45:08,120 Speaker 1: Cook is a big time player. Daniel Hunter and now 909 00:45:08,239 --> 00:45:10,719 Speaker 1: Zadarius Smith who had great, great games that both of 910 00:45:10,760 --> 00:45:13,160 Speaker 1: them are big time players. And there's this idea that 911 00:45:13,200 --> 00:45:15,799 Speaker 1: the Vikings are just blah, they're boring, they're the same 912 00:45:15,880 --> 00:45:18,960 Speaker 1: team every year and maybe that's where they'll land this year. 913 00:45:19,600 --> 00:45:23,000 Speaker 1: But they do have awesome players at the heart of it. 914 00:45:23,360 --> 00:45:25,400 Speaker 1: If they don't get in their own way. And most 915 00:45:25,440 --> 00:45:28,680 Speaker 1: of the second half was spent with Hansas, who had 916 00:45:28,680 --> 00:45:31,839 Speaker 1: a lot of correct predictions, mid game predictions that went 917 00:45:31,880 --> 00:45:34,080 Speaker 1: well for him today. But what didn't go well with 918 00:45:34,239 --> 00:45:36,520 Speaker 1: him saying, Oh, the Vikings are gonna viking here, and 919 00:45:36,520 --> 00:45:39,000 Speaker 1: this one's gonna keep getting closer, keep getting closer. And 920 00:45:39,040 --> 00:45:41,520 Speaker 1: you know what, it didn't because their defense stood up, 921 00:45:42,120 --> 00:45:44,479 Speaker 1: their offense held the ball enough in the second half, 922 00:45:44,480 --> 00:45:46,359 Speaker 1: even if they really only got a couple of field 923 00:45:46,360 --> 00:45:49,520 Speaker 1: goals there. And most importantly, as you mentioned justin Jefferson 924 00:45:50,000 --> 00:45:52,680 Speaker 1: is just outrageous. You can you mentioned he's not gonna 925 00:45:52,680 --> 00:45:55,400 Speaker 1: be another Moss. Well, Randy Moss is the only player 926 00:45:55,400 --> 00:45:57,680 Speaker 1: in NFL history to have as many hundred and fifty 927 00:45:57,760 --> 00:46:02,680 Speaker 1: yard games this young, this stage of his Jeffers, Yeah, 928 00:46:02,719 --> 00:46:05,319 Speaker 1: I mean he it was a fascination to watch him. 929 00:46:05,320 --> 00:46:07,279 Speaker 1: And I think the flip side of this was that 930 00:46:07,680 --> 00:46:10,880 Speaker 1: this was not last year's Packers on offense or the 931 00:46:10,960 --> 00:46:13,600 Speaker 1: year before or the year before, because the Davante Adams 932 00:46:13,600 --> 00:46:17,080 Speaker 1: free Packers, unlike the Chiefs missing Tyreek Hill, did not 933 00:46:17,200 --> 00:46:19,360 Speaker 1: have an answer. And I thought that Aaron Rodgers, you 934 00:46:19,360 --> 00:46:21,719 Speaker 1: know that in the first half especially, they had one 935 00:46:21,800 --> 00:46:24,360 Speaker 1: drive out of seven that went from more than thirteen yards. 936 00:46:24,760 --> 00:46:27,759 Speaker 1: They looked confused. To me, there were big mistakes I 937 00:46:27,800 --> 00:46:29,480 Speaker 1: and we we talked about this too as a group 938 00:46:29,719 --> 00:46:33,040 Speaker 1: that Christian Watson dropped what would have been a home 939 00:46:33,120 --> 00:46:36,440 Speaker 1: run touchdown that would have been that was literally the 940 00:46:36,480 --> 00:46:38,800 Speaker 1: first pass of the season, would have been a seventy 941 00:46:38,840 --> 00:46:42,400 Speaker 1: five yards. They held it up in a way I 942 00:46:42,440 --> 00:46:44,160 Speaker 1: think to send him. I don't know if they dialed 943 00:46:44,280 --> 00:46:45,840 Speaker 1: up to send a message, but they dialed it up 944 00:46:45,880 --> 00:46:48,040 Speaker 1: knowing like, Okay, here's the first play of the season. 945 00:46:48,040 --> 00:46:50,759 Speaker 1: Can we get Watson for seventy five perfect throw by 946 00:46:50,840 --> 00:46:52,600 Speaker 1: Rodgers and yeah, it goes right through his hand. They 947 00:46:52,960 --> 00:46:55,440 Speaker 1: had a J. Dillon stuffed on the goal line in 948 00:46:55,120 --> 00:46:57,120 Speaker 1: a in a possession that would have changed this game, 949 00:46:57,280 --> 00:46:59,920 Speaker 1: because I know what you're saying, Dan, Because the Viking 950 00:47:00,280 --> 00:47:03,799 Speaker 1: were hot and then they cooled down significantly for such 951 00:47:03,840 --> 00:47:06,000 Speaker 1: a long stretch of time that you could see the 952 00:47:06,040 --> 00:47:08,520 Speaker 1: Packers with a wide open door to get back into 953 00:47:08,520 --> 00:47:10,879 Speaker 1: the game. But Aaron Rodgers looked as frustrated as I've 954 00:47:10,880 --> 00:47:12,360 Speaker 1: seen him in a long time, and he looked a 955 00:47:12,360 --> 00:47:14,279 Speaker 1: little banged up at stretches. For me too, he was 956 00:47:14,320 --> 00:47:17,280 Speaker 1: getting hit hard, and this to me was a very 957 00:47:17,440 --> 00:47:19,759 Speaker 1: harbinger of doom for the Packers, although I can think 958 00:47:19,920 --> 00:47:22,200 Speaker 1: remember how they started last year too. I'll use it again. 959 00:47:22,239 --> 00:47:24,200 Speaker 1: It's just week one, so we don't want to get 960 00:47:24,200 --> 00:47:26,160 Speaker 1: too ahead of ourselves, but you're right, it's not a 961 00:47:26,200 --> 00:47:28,200 Speaker 1: great start for them. And I'll tell exactly the moment 962 00:47:28,440 --> 00:47:30,759 Speaker 1: where I was like, Okay, I know the vikings. We 963 00:47:30,800 --> 00:47:33,120 Speaker 1: all know the vikings. We know that the Packers have done, 964 00:47:33,200 --> 00:47:36,680 Speaker 1: especially in the regular season under La Flora, with Rogers 965 00:47:36,680 --> 00:47:38,279 Speaker 1: winning back to back m v ps. They got it, 966 00:47:38,320 --> 00:47:42,280 Speaker 1: they were down twenty nothing. Uh in the second quarter, 967 00:47:42,800 --> 00:47:46,000 Speaker 1: they get they get the touchdown, they finally get on 968 00:47:46,040 --> 00:47:48,160 Speaker 1: the board seven place, seventy five yards. Then they get 969 00:47:48,200 --> 00:47:50,719 Speaker 1: a punt, so now they have the ball back in 970 00:47:50,760 --> 00:47:53,000 Speaker 1: the third quarter down twenty seven, and I'm thinking myself, 971 00:47:53,000 --> 00:47:54,480 Speaker 1: they're gonna go down the field. They're gonna make it. 972 00:47:55,640 --> 00:47:59,360 Speaker 1: And then that Minnesota offense, which under the prior regime 973 00:47:59,400 --> 00:48:01,920 Speaker 1: with Kirk Cousin is there, can go to sleep. They 974 00:48:01,920 --> 00:48:04,000 Speaker 1: could be on fire for stretches, and then they can 975 00:48:04,000 --> 00:48:05,959 Speaker 1: go into deep funks when they go into a three 976 00:48:05,960 --> 00:48:07,960 Speaker 1: and out binge. And I thought it was gonna be 977 00:48:07,960 --> 00:48:10,879 Speaker 1: a situation where Rogers has the ball down six late 978 00:48:10,880 --> 00:48:14,720 Speaker 1: in the game. And yet credit to Minnesota's defense because 979 00:48:14,800 --> 00:48:18,920 Speaker 1: the fact that Minnesota, despite all this great fireworks from Jefferson, 980 00:48:18,920 --> 00:48:20,719 Speaker 1: they only finished with twenty three points in this game, 981 00:48:21,000 --> 00:48:24,280 Speaker 1: but they made its stand up because the Vikings defense 982 00:48:24,320 --> 00:48:27,319 Speaker 1: did not let Aaron Rodgers get things rolling. And you 983 00:48:27,400 --> 00:48:29,800 Speaker 1: definitely felt it. Greg. I mean, I know Davante Adams 984 00:48:29,800 --> 00:48:33,680 Speaker 1: did well with Derrick car statistically today, but you felt 985 00:48:33,680 --> 00:48:35,560 Speaker 1: there were moments in the game where it's like, oh, 986 00:48:35,600 --> 00:48:37,480 Speaker 1: this is where Davante would give him a big pick 987 00:48:37,560 --> 00:48:40,719 Speaker 1: me up. And it's gonna take time, you think, for 988 00:48:40,800 --> 00:48:43,920 Speaker 1: the Packers to find that A J. Dillon was their 989 00:48:44,000 --> 00:48:46,400 Speaker 1: leading receiver. And then beyond that, it was nice to 990 00:48:46,400 --> 00:48:48,479 Speaker 1: see Robert touny In back in the mix. He looks good. 991 00:48:48,960 --> 00:48:51,319 Speaker 1: Beyond that, they're two leading white Outs where Dubs and 992 00:48:51,640 --> 00:48:53,799 Speaker 1: and Watson two rookies, and so I think it will 993 00:48:53,880 --> 00:48:58,279 Speaker 1: come eventually. Uh you know they Sammy Watkins was in 994 00:48:58,280 --> 00:49:01,640 Speaker 1: this game and didn't make a big differ. Alan Lazard 995 00:49:01,680 --> 00:49:04,000 Speaker 1: hopefully returns. They were missing a lot of players, so 996 00:49:04,280 --> 00:49:08,120 Speaker 1: David Baktier and Elton Jenkins Elkton Jenkins, like it's a 997 00:49:08,200 --> 00:49:13,200 Speaker 1: very hard name to You're just not use both both 998 00:49:13,200 --> 00:49:16,759 Speaker 1: players were cautiously expected to play in this game, and 999 00:49:16,800 --> 00:49:19,040 Speaker 1: so you went and then they neither one of them did. 1000 00:49:19,320 --> 00:49:22,239 Speaker 1: And they also lost Runyon Uh their starting guard during 1001 00:49:22,239 --> 00:49:25,399 Speaker 1: the game. So suddenly you're down three offensive lineman. So 1002 00:49:25,840 --> 00:49:30,560 Speaker 1: if you're trying to make this receiver salad kind of work, uh, 1003 00:49:30,600 --> 00:49:33,640 Speaker 1: you at least need to have that really strong offensive line. 1004 00:49:33,680 --> 00:49:36,560 Speaker 1: The combination of the two made it look like their 1005 00:49:36,640 --> 00:49:39,399 Speaker 1: last game that they played, which was against the forty nine, 1006 00:49:39,480 --> 00:49:42,120 Speaker 1: I mean, which was against the forty niners in the playoffs. 1007 00:49:42,120 --> 00:49:44,200 Speaker 1: If you're not protecting them and you don't have those 1008 00:49:44,200 --> 00:49:46,840 Speaker 1: guys out wide, you're just gonna be a total mess. 1009 00:49:47,080 --> 00:49:51,120 Speaker 1: And the Vikings were extremely physical, like Zadarius Smith, DJ 1010 00:49:51,200 --> 00:49:54,040 Speaker 1: want Um Uh Hunter. They all look fresh. And I 1011 00:49:54,080 --> 00:49:57,239 Speaker 1: give their coaching staff um some credit here because it's 1012 00:49:57,239 --> 00:50:00,840 Speaker 1: a new coaching staff ed. Donna tells the defensive coordinator 1013 00:50:00,880 --> 00:50:02,719 Speaker 1: he had a play at the goal line that really 1014 00:50:02,760 --> 00:50:04,880 Speaker 1: mixed up Rodgers. I think Greg Olsen, who did a 1015 00:50:04,880 --> 00:50:07,560 Speaker 1: great job in his first game officially as the number 1016 00:50:07,560 --> 00:50:10,840 Speaker 1: one guy, like really explained it and he confused Aaron Rodgers. 1017 00:50:11,200 --> 00:50:13,200 Speaker 1: And they have a new coaching staff on both sides. 1018 00:50:13,239 --> 00:50:15,480 Speaker 1: It was a very common composed game where I think 1019 00:50:15,560 --> 00:50:17,719 Speaker 1: Kirk Cousins played with a lot of clarity. So if 1020 00:50:17,719 --> 00:50:19,279 Speaker 1: we want to give the coach to some credit, we 1021 00:50:19,440 --> 00:50:21,560 Speaker 1: give it to them. Maybe it's just the players. Either way, 1022 00:50:21,600 --> 00:50:24,920 Speaker 1: it was like a very a very strong opening salvo. 1023 00:50:25,880 --> 00:50:28,080 Speaker 1: If you're if you're O'Connell, I mean you're you're having 1024 00:50:28,080 --> 00:50:30,000 Speaker 1: to deal with the Packers in week one, and like 1025 00:50:30,040 --> 00:50:32,719 Speaker 1: it kind of tells you everything that this journey could 1026 00:50:32,760 --> 00:50:34,239 Speaker 1: be for them. And so I love the win. I 1027 00:50:34,239 --> 00:50:36,719 Speaker 1: mean I get concerned for Aaron Rodgers. There was a 1028 00:50:36,719 --> 00:50:40,920 Speaker 1: play where three Vikings defenders essentially just descended on him 1029 00:50:40,920 --> 00:50:42,880 Speaker 1: and destroyed him and it resulted in a fumble. And 1030 00:50:42,920 --> 00:50:46,280 Speaker 1: it's like we Aaron Rodgers has not built like Josh Allen. I. 1031 00:50:46,360 --> 00:50:49,200 Speaker 1: You always just worry about the Aaron Rodgers collar RNE situation. 1032 00:50:49,280 --> 00:50:53,200 Speaker 1: Things like that. He looked uncomfortable and it's just like 1033 00:50:53,600 --> 00:50:55,400 Speaker 1: he also is a kind of guy that if you're 1034 00:50:55,400 --> 00:50:58,839 Speaker 1: gonna get him agitated and frustrated early on, you're gonna 1035 00:50:58,880 --> 00:51:00,759 Speaker 1: hear about it. And I cannot wait to see what 1036 00:51:00,800 --> 00:51:03,839 Speaker 1: his comments are. The Packers get the Bears at home 1037 00:51:03,880 --> 00:51:06,960 Speaker 1: Sunday Night Football next week. The Vikings get the Eagles 1038 00:51:07,000 --> 00:51:08,960 Speaker 1: on Monday Night football next week. That's gonna be a 1039 00:51:09,000 --> 00:51:13,760 Speaker 1: great early school Who miss their lock? Only one person 1040 00:51:13,800 --> 00:51:16,560 Speaker 1: missed their lock this week? Who, well, couldn't not the 1041 00:51:16,560 --> 00:51:23,280 Speaker 1: Titans fan hopefully not. Yeah, you know to read digging 1042 00:51:23,360 --> 00:51:27,799 Speaker 1: his own grave, I mean was flying high. He introduced 1043 00:51:27,880 --> 00:51:33,440 Speaker 1: Jessica for the first time really meaningfully into social situation. Yes, 1044 00:51:33,480 --> 00:51:35,480 Speaker 1: we met her briefly at the holiday party, but that 1045 00:51:35,560 --> 00:51:37,560 Speaker 1: was kind of at the point in the relationship where 1046 00:51:37,600 --> 00:51:40,319 Speaker 1: Graver was, you know, we weren't trying to keep it 1047 00:51:40,440 --> 00:51:42,360 Speaker 1: on the download a little bit um and it was 1048 00:51:42,400 --> 00:51:45,800 Speaker 1: slightly suspicious. That was wonderful and he left just feeling 1049 00:51:45,800 --> 00:51:48,600 Speaker 1: I think great about everything. He's part of the team 1050 00:51:48,640 --> 00:51:52,080 Speaker 1: and is it's great one. At the holiday party, they 1051 00:51:52,080 --> 00:51:54,200 Speaker 1: were in the shadows, right, and I felt like when 1052 00:51:54,239 --> 00:51:56,880 Speaker 1: we got together on the eve of the season, it 1053 00:51:56,960 --> 00:51:58,920 Speaker 1: was stepping into the light and it was a wonderful time. 1054 00:51:58,960 --> 00:52:01,239 Speaker 1: So think about that. They about your relationship and all 1055 00:52:01,280 --> 00:52:02,480 Speaker 1: the good things you have in you. That's what I 1056 00:52:02,520 --> 00:52:04,520 Speaker 1: would say. This is what I would if I were 1057 00:52:04,560 --> 00:52:09,040 Speaker 1: to sing a little song for go ahead. His team lost, 1058 00:52:09,840 --> 00:52:14,000 Speaker 1: He lost his luck. When it rains, it pours but 1059 00:52:14,120 --> 00:52:20,719 Speaker 1: he still has Jessica. You know, we don't get that 1060 00:52:20,719 --> 00:52:25,080 Speaker 1: song with lost right, No, that's not this is my 1061 00:52:25,400 --> 00:52:28,719 Speaker 1: I care about his well being. Like he's saying that 1062 00:52:28,840 --> 00:52:31,400 Speaker 1: song in the back to Uh. He was really like 1063 00:52:31,440 --> 00:52:34,799 Speaker 1: full throadd it was beautiful. Um. And speaking of the 1064 00:52:34,880 --> 00:52:39,279 Speaker 1: vikingsst they have the Eagles on Monday night, but they 1065 00:52:39,360 --> 00:52:45,720 Speaker 1: also have a game in London against the Saints. Saints 1066 00:52:45,760 --> 00:52:48,239 Speaker 1: and we'll be there and we're gonna be doing our 1067 00:52:48,320 --> 00:52:54,799 Speaker 1: live show from London the Thursday, uh, September twenty night. 1068 00:52:54,840 --> 00:52:56,680 Speaker 1: I want to say, let's let's make sure we get 1069 00:52:56,719 --> 00:53:00,560 Speaker 1: that right. And we tickets are on sale on Ticketmaster 1070 00:53:01,480 --> 00:53:04,160 Speaker 1: right and we are we have made some adjustments we 1071 00:53:04,360 --> 00:53:06,960 Speaker 1: have well it's like the Packers offense, they're gonna be 1072 00:53:06,960 --> 00:53:12,360 Speaker 1: need to making some adjustments now. We're not. We're not 1073 00:53:12,440 --> 00:53:15,319 Speaker 1: at that level. We I really want to say thank 1074 00:53:15,320 --> 00:53:18,040 Speaker 1: you to all the listeners who have bought tickets. We've 1075 00:53:18,040 --> 00:53:20,960 Speaker 1: had an amazing response, uh and they're going quickly. But 1076 00:53:21,000 --> 00:53:23,399 Speaker 1: we also heard from a lot of listeners that thought 1077 00:53:23,400 --> 00:53:25,960 Speaker 1: the price point was like a little high. And I 1078 00:53:26,000 --> 00:53:28,520 Speaker 1: get it. We're not like super involved in in all 1079 00:53:28,520 --> 00:53:33,719 Speaker 1: that decision. And I'm just saying we're learning as we go, 1080 00:53:34,040 --> 00:53:37,239 Speaker 1: and our relationship with the listeners is paramount to us, 1081 00:53:37,280 --> 00:53:39,160 Speaker 1: and so we're learning as we go as we're trying 1082 00:53:39,160 --> 00:53:42,320 Speaker 1: out these new things. And we tickets are free. We know, 1083 00:53:42,520 --> 00:53:46,160 Speaker 1: we did work it out with with Ticketmaster with Live 1084 00:53:46,280 --> 00:53:50,719 Speaker 1: Nation that we have twenty five pound tickets now will 1085 00:53:50,760 --> 00:53:58,120 Speaker 1: be available on Ticketmaster as of Monday morning. So we're 1086 00:53:58,120 --> 00:54:00,759 Speaker 1: not looking to books anyone out financial like we were. 1087 00:54:00,920 --> 00:54:03,319 Speaker 1: You know, we're just we're just like, okay, tell us 1088 00:54:03,320 --> 00:54:05,120 Speaker 1: what to do, We're gonna do it. And so so 1089 00:54:05,480 --> 00:54:08,080 Speaker 1: because we want as many people as possible to come 1090 00:54:08,200 --> 00:54:09,600 Speaker 1: see it, and we heard from a lot of you 1091 00:54:09,640 --> 00:54:11,880 Speaker 1: and we want to listen to uh the seats in 1092 00:54:11,920 --> 00:54:14,040 Speaker 1: the balcony or we we've opened up some seats in 1093 00:54:14,040 --> 00:54:16,440 Speaker 1: the balcony that will be twenty five pounds, so check 1094 00:54:16,480 --> 00:54:18,520 Speaker 1: them out and Mark will personally meet and greet with 1095 00:54:18,560 --> 00:54:22,000 Speaker 1: each of you in the balcony. All right, let us now, 1096 00:54:22,560 --> 00:54:25,920 Speaker 1: well that's not technically true, but we'll see. All right, 1097 00:54:26,320 --> 00:54:28,359 Speaker 1: let's put that up there, because then it acts. Then 1098 00:54:28,680 --> 00:54:34,120 Speaker 1: we're gonna encounter more ticketmaster dot Com search around the 1099 00:54:34,200 --> 00:54:37,400 Speaker 1: NFL London. Here we go. Let's move on to the 1100 00:54:37,480 --> 00:54:40,680 Speaker 1: highest scoring game of Week one and went down at 1101 00:54:40,760 --> 00:54:45,080 Speaker 1: ford Field. Get the grid out hurts thanks to slip. 1102 00:54:45,560 --> 00:54:49,360 Speaker 1: He's pumping. He is going out of this foot the 1103 00:54:49,440 --> 00:54:53,200 Speaker 1: fourth snline by A J. Brown. He works at four 1104 00:54:53,320 --> 00:55:03,080 Speaker 1: across the five fourth class a great Oh, no grave digger. Oh. 1105 00:55:03,200 --> 00:55:07,200 Speaker 1: He brings out the bongos. That's a pro. Give me 1106 00:55:07,560 --> 00:55:11,440 Speaker 1: the Bunages, give me the Bunagles. He's still got Jessica. 1107 00:55:11,680 --> 00:55:15,759 Speaker 1: He's still got Jessica. Even though A J. Brown went 1108 00:55:15,800 --> 00:55:24,640 Speaker 1: off today in in a Eagles uniform, that is Meryl 1109 00:55:24,680 --> 00:55:28,520 Speaker 1: Reese w I p with the call. Jalen Hurts three 1110 00:55:28,920 --> 00:55:31,440 Speaker 1: thirty three total yards in a touchdown. A J. Brown 1111 00:55:31,480 --> 00:55:33,920 Speaker 1: a career high, tying a hundred fifty five yards in 1112 00:55:34,040 --> 00:55:38,959 Speaker 1: his debut with the Eggles, and Philly holds on five 1113 00:55:39,120 --> 00:55:42,960 Speaker 1: over the Lions at Ford Field. The Eagles scored twenty 1114 00:55:43,000 --> 00:55:45,800 Speaker 1: four points in the second quarter. They were up seventeen 1115 00:55:45,800 --> 00:55:48,239 Speaker 1: and the fourth and then Jared Goff in Detroit. They 1116 00:55:48,320 --> 00:55:51,520 Speaker 1: put some lipstick on that piggy greggy. But the Eagles 1117 00:55:51,560 --> 00:55:54,239 Speaker 1: are gonna be a problem for defenses, aren't they. A. J. 1118 00:55:54,440 --> 00:55:57,000 Speaker 1: Brown is gonna be a problem. I'm digging the grave 1119 00:55:57,040 --> 00:55:58,839 Speaker 1: of that trade. It was a bad idea. You could 1120 00:55:58,840 --> 00:56:03,799 Speaker 1: have found the money to keep the Okay, Okay, I 1121 00:56:03,920 --> 00:56:06,600 Speaker 1: agree with Greg. Should have found the money. They could 1122 00:56:06,600 --> 00:56:08,920 Speaker 1: have figured it out. Of course, we don't need to 1123 00:56:09,160 --> 00:56:15,320 Speaker 1: know Justin doesn't go home and then suddenly Jessica is 1124 00:56:15,360 --> 00:56:17,120 Speaker 1: annoyed with him about something off the cuff to he 1125 00:56:17,160 --> 00:56:19,560 Speaker 1: does not need it today. It's a totally fair point. 1126 00:56:19,600 --> 00:56:21,280 Speaker 1: Here's the thing, though, A J. Brown was the difference 1127 00:56:21,280 --> 00:56:23,200 Speaker 1: in this game. I believe if A J. Brown was 1128 00:56:23,239 --> 00:56:25,160 Speaker 1: not on this team, if the Eagles had not made 1129 00:56:25,160 --> 00:56:28,000 Speaker 1: this trade, they actually lose this game because while some 1130 00:56:28,800 --> 00:56:32,040 Speaker 1: uh parts of this matchup were similar to a year ago, 1131 00:56:32,160 --> 00:56:36,120 Speaker 1: ultimately Philadelphia ran the ball when they needed to. It 1132 00:56:36,200 --> 00:56:38,120 Speaker 1: was not just lipstick on a pig. I mean at 1133 00:56:38,120 --> 00:56:40,160 Speaker 1: the very end of the game that Peoples needed to 1134 00:56:40,200 --> 00:56:43,120 Speaker 1: get multiple first downs to assault this game away, and 1135 00:56:43,160 --> 00:56:45,840 Speaker 1: they were able to buy running and they took a 1136 00:56:46,000 --> 00:56:49,720 Speaker 1: very gutsy fourth in one call where Jalen Hurts barely 1137 00:56:49,840 --> 00:56:52,160 Speaker 1: got it um or else they would have turned the 1138 00:56:52,200 --> 00:56:54,200 Speaker 1: ball back over the Lions, who might have just won 1139 00:56:54,280 --> 00:56:56,560 Speaker 1: this game the way their offense was going. But A J. 1140 00:56:56,760 --> 00:57:01,560 Speaker 1: Brown's ability to make contested catch is in tight traffic 1141 00:57:01,880 --> 00:57:04,320 Speaker 1: and then make a couple of plays after the catch. 1142 00:57:04,520 --> 00:57:07,839 Speaker 1: After he made those tough catches made Jalen Hurts look 1143 00:57:07,920 --> 00:57:10,400 Speaker 1: better because I think those were the same throws he 1144 00:57:10,520 --> 00:57:13,279 Speaker 1: threw last year and they just went incomplete or they 1145 00:57:13,280 --> 00:57:15,319 Speaker 1: were like a seven yard game. It's the guy that 1146 00:57:15,360 --> 00:57:18,720 Speaker 1: the Eagles have been looking for for years to be 1147 00:57:18,840 --> 00:57:21,360 Speaker 1: that type of guy that makes the quarterback better, and 1148 00:57:21,360 --> 00:57:23,160 Speaker 1: that's what they have in play here right now. What 1149 00:57:23,280 --> 00:57:27,120 Speaker 1: so DeVante Smith, though I'm looking at his line zero yards, 1150 00:57:27,400 --> 00:57:31,280 Speaker 1: zero four targets, Brown definitely had most of the attention. 1151 00:57:31,800 --> 00:57:34,480 Speaker 1: I think Smith had a drop in there. Um, I 1152 00:57:34,680 --> 00:57:37,480 Speaker 1: wouldn't be concerned about that, just because their offense was 1153 00:57:37,760 --> 00:57:41,000 Speaker 1: extremely efficient. This was not a game with a ton 1154 00:57:41,040 --> 00:57:44,640 Speaker 1: of possessions. Considering how many points were scored, I believe 1155 00:57:44,680 --> 00:57:47,320 Speaker 1: including the last drive, which was very effective, they won 1156 00:57:47,360 --> 00:57:49,080 Speaker 1: the game on it. They only had ten drives and 1157 00:57:49,080 --> 00:57:51,160 Speaker 1: you put up thirty eight points. That that wasn't a 1158 00:57:51,160 --> 00:57:54,320 Speaker 1: problem Jalen Hurts. His legs also, which I still think 1159 00:57:54,360 --> 00:57:58,680 Speaker 1: are weirdly overlooked, were the other difference too, because early 1160 00:57:58,720 --> 00:58:01,960 Speaker 1: in the game they did not really play well on offense. 1161 00:58:02,000 --> 00:58:05,240 Speaker 1: He was getting confused by blitzes, and yet the Lions 1162 00:58:05,280 --> 00:58:08,640 Speaker 1: were blitzing and getting to Jalen Hurts and he was 1163 00:58:08,760 --> 00:58:10,920 Speaker 1: making them pay with his legs. He ends up with 1164 00:58:11,040 --> 00:58:14,520 Speaker 1: ninety yards on the ground. Very few of those were 1165 00:58:14,560 --> 00:58:16,800 Speaker 1: called runs. He had a couple effective called runs, but 1166 00:58:16,840 --> 00:58:19,360 Speaker 1: most of them were scrambles where it's like, this drive's 1167 00:58:19,400 --> 00:58:21,800 Speaker 1: gonna end unless Jalen Hurts goes and picks up fourteen 1168 00:58:21,840 --> 00:58:23,520 Speaker 1: yards here, let's go pick up for it. I feel 1169 00:58:23,600 --> 00:58:26,240 Speaker 1: very close to Dan Campbell after covering the Hard Knocks 1170 00:58:26,240 --> 00:58:29,080 Speaker 1: season with Colleen Wolfe Um. I do want to hear 1171 00:58:29,200 --> 00:58:33,120 Speaker 1: from UH coach Grit himself after the loss. Let's see 1172 00:58:33,360 --> 00:58:36,440 Speaker 1: how Campbell was doing. This is game one and we 1173 00:58:36,520 --> 00:58:38,919 Speaker 1: got a long season here, and I said, the good 1174 00:58:38,920 --> 00:58:40,880 Speaker 1: news is that we didn't play very well and we 1175 00:58:40,960 --> 00:58:43,120 Speaker 1: lost by three. That's what you can take away from 1176 00:58:43,160 --> 00:58:46,880 Speaker 1: this now if we just take this whole approach where 1177 00:58:46,920 --> 00:58:48,840 Speaker 1: every week it's like, well we play, you know, we 1178 00:58:48,960 --> 00:58:51,080 Speaker 1: lost by three, Well we lost by three, we lost 1179 00:58:51,120 --> 00:58:52,760 Speaker 1: by three, Then what are we doing? So we gotta 1180 00:58:52,800 --> 00:58:55,160 Speaker 1: clean this up and UH, we gotta be better. We 1181 00:58:55,240 --> 00:58:58,000 Speaker 1: gotta be a lot better in all areas. He's right, 1182 00:58:58,080 --> 00:59:02,160 Speaker 1: because they have now graduated from it being good enough 1183 00:59:02,200 --> 00:59:03,880 Speaker 1: to be competitive. That was last year and that's why 1184 00:59:03,880 --> 00:59:07,080 Speaker 1: everybody liked them, because they they were very easy to 1185 00:59:07,160 --> 00:59:09,560 Speaker 1: root for. But I'm not saying you needed to win 1186 00:59:09,600 --> 00:59:11,920 Speaker 1: this game. But this can't be the story of the 1187 00:59:11,920 --> 00:59:14,400 Speaker 1: Lions again or else it's not really working. I mean, 1188 00:59:14,440 --> 00:59:16,919 Speaker 1: if we look at week one and say, the outcomes 1189 00:59:16,960 --> 00:59:19,960 Speaker 1: are far more variable and bizarre than you're gonna get 1190 00:59:20,000 --> 00:59:22,400 Speaker 1: over the course of other weeks. Typically, they lost to 1191 00:59:22,640 --> 00:59:25,320 Speaker 1: Philadelphia forty four to six a year ago, and that 1192 00:59:25,400 --> 00:59:27,280 Speaker 1: was in the middle of the season, and that by 1193 00:59:27,280 --> 00:59:29,080 Speaker 1: that point the Eagles had figured out what they wanted 1194 00:59:29,120 --> 00:59:30,960 Speaker 1: to be a run heavy jugg or not. But I'd 1195 00:59:31,000 --> 00:59:32,960 Speaker 1: look at this game for the Lions and say, number one, 1196 00:59:33,000 --> 00:59:34,959 Speaker 1: they started off with a great drive out of the gate, 1197 00:59:35,360 --> 00:59:37,000 Speaker 1: and they looked like they kind of did in the 1198 00:59:37,000 --> 00:59:39,240 Speaker 1: preseason to me. I know, they gave up a ton 1199 00:59:39,280 --> 00:59:40,920 Speaker 1: of points, but I think it's a tough team on 1200 00:59:41,000 --> 00:59:42,920 Speaker 1: both sides of the line. They didn't They only got 1201 00:59:42,920 --> 00:59:44,600 Speaker 1: one sack on Hurts today. I mean, he's really well 1202 00:59:44,600 --> 00:59:46,520 Speaker 1: protected by that line in general. But this is not 1203 00:59:46,600 --> 00:59:51,440 Speaker 1: a disaster for Detroit. On any looks great, yes, but 1204 00:59:51,720 --> 00:59:53,640 Speaker 1: I think you're playing in one of the more dangerous 1205 00:59:53,640 --> 00:59:56,160 Speaker 1: offenses around now. I mean, the Lions are one of 1206 00:59:56,240 --> 00:59:58,680 Speaker 1: the worst defenses in the league last year. I think 1207 00:59:58,720 --> 01:00:01,800 Speaker 1: their secondary has potential to be one of the worst 1208 01:00:01,840 --> 01:00:04,240 Speaker 1: in the league. I think at moments they played fairly well, 1209 01:00:04,280 --> 01:00:05,760 Speaker 1: and but Campbell was like, we got to improve in 1210 01:00:05,800 --> 01:00:09,160 Speaker 1: all phases. Uh no, your defense is lousy. You need 1211 01:00:09,200 --> 01:00:13,320 Speaker 1: to improve your defense. And I know Goff struggled late 1212 01:00:13,320 --> 01:00:15,520 Speaker 1: in the second quarter. He had like thirteen yards and 1213 01:00:15,560 --> 01:00:18,080 Speaker 1: so they started slow offensively, but they still put up 1214 01:00:18,120 --> 01:00:20,840 Speaker 1: thirty five and Swift had the best game of his career. 1215 01:00:20,880 --> 01:00:23,320 Speaker 1: They were missing two offensive linemen at guard and they 1216 01:00:23,400 --> 01:00:25,720 Speaker 1: ran really well. So I don't know, it just seems 1217 01:00:25,720 --> 01:00:28,880 Speaker 1: like a defensive problem to me. Seventeen rushes for Hurts 1218 01:00:28,960 --> 01:00:32,120 Speaker 1: is that it seems a little high. You okay with 1219 01:00:32,120 --> 01:00:35,360 Speaker 1: that the ball that much, it was a lot high. 1220 01:00:35,760 --> 01:00:37,920 Speaker 1: It was not most of them were not called. So 1221 01:00:38,000 --> 01:00:40,919 Speaker 1: you mentioned like there was only one sack. They got 1222 01:00:41,080 --> 01:00:44,040 Speaker 1: free rushers and they blitzed and confused him quite a bit, 1223 01:00:44,080 --> 01:00:47,320 Speaker 1: and then he would just beat the free rushers and that. 1224 01:00:47,480 --> 01:00:49,760 Speaker 1: But it also I think speaks to how teams will 1225 01:00:49,760 --> 01:00:53,000 Speaker 1: attack the Eagles because he They didn't really have a 1226 01:00:53,000 --> 01:00:55,680 Speaker 1: lot of answers passing wise early for that, but his 1227 01:00:55,680 --> 01:01:03,400 Speaker 1: his legs were the answer. Let us oh oh oh yes, Markie, 1228 01:01:04,200 --> 01:01:06,240 Speaker 1: you and I you and I both. That's a good 1229 01:01:06,240 --> 01:01:09,760 Speaker 1: way to start. We should pick the same team every week. 1230 01:01:11,120 --> 01:01:14,480 Speaker 1: That doesn't sound because I can I tell you what. 1231 01:01:14,560 --> 01:01:16,840 Speaker 1: Let's not fight it. Can I tell you why? Because 1232 01:01:16,840 --> 01:01:21,800 Speaker 1: it was agitating Greg. No that it was. It was 1233 01:01:22,400 --> 01:01:26,919 Speaker 1: wanted into a psychological jar and we twisted him into 1234 01:01:27,000 --> 01:01:30,160 Speaker 1: like an emotional pretzel and that was fun. It distressed him. 1235 01:01:30,200 --> 01:01:35,560 Speaker 1: If you could upset Greg physically or emotionally, then it's like, alright, 1236 01:01:38,720 --> 01:01:40,680 Speaker 1: that that's what I try to do. That's not I 1237 01:01:40,680 --> 01:01:42,880 Speaker 1: don't want to do that, Greg, but just knowing it 1238 01:01:42,960 --> 01:01:46,920 Speaker 1: happens occasionally, it's like, oh Greg's human, he feels things 1239 01:01:47,040 --> 01:01:49,800 Speaker 1: and I could can I can connect and physically I'm 1240 01:01:49,800 --> 01:01:52,240 Speaker 1: struggling on this Sunday. It added a nice element to 1241 01:01:52,320 --> 01:01:54,760 Speaker 1: you know, we spend nine ten hours together on Sundays. 1242 01:01:54,760 --> 01:01:56,880 Speaker 1: It added in a nice element to um. Yes, Gregg's 1243 01:01:56,920 --> 01:02:00,840 Speaker 1: gutting through um some he's not feeling great, so we 1244 01:02:00,880 --> 01:02:04,040 Speaker 1: appreciate you not feeling well. And then I asked, is 1245 01:02:04,080 --> 01:02:05,840 Speaker 1: it possible that you're going to be giving us what 1246 01:02:05,960 --> 01:02:08,120 Speaker 1: you have And I'm sitting two feet away from Greg 1247 01:02:08,240 --> 01:02:10,400 Speaker 1: and I didn't get a clear answer on that. Yeah, 1248 01:02:10,680 --> 01:02:12,760 Speaker 1: then we're gonna be locking up something together. We're gonna 1249 01:02:12,760 --> 01:02:16,440 Speaker 1: be headlocking Rosenthump from the infirmary. Let's take a brain. 1250 01:02:16,520 --> 01:02:20,640 Speaker 1: We'll be right back. Let's roll on kenth Play of 1251 01:02:20,720 --> 01:02:24,760 Speaker 1: the drive for the Bears. I formation under center fields, 1252 01:02:24,800 --> 01:02:30,880 Speaker 1: takes and fakes, quit time, lovest quick to the anode, touchdown, 1253 01:02:31,680 --> 01:02:36,400 Speaker 1: touchdown Theirs. He feathered it in their beautif plays, crapped 1254 01:02:36,440 --> 01:02:39,040 Speaker 1: it in the end zone, Jeff Jonny act with a 1255 01:02:39,080 --> 01:02:42,320 Speaker 1: called W B B M. I like that move that 1256 01:02:43,000 --> 01:02:46,280 Speaker 1: econymious st Brown where you catch the touchdown or you 1257 01:02:46,520 --> 01:02:49,160 Speaker 1: crossed into the end zone then you fire the ball 1258 01:02:49,640 --> 01:02:52,919 Speaker 1: into the wall. It's always better when it's the era 1259 01:02:53,160 --> 01:02:55,720 Speaker 1: in someone else's building and it's their logo and you 1260 01:02:55,800 --> 01:02:57,600 Speaker 1: hit their logo with the ball. But in this case, 1261 01:02:57,840 --> 01:03:00,800 Speaker 1: he fired into the Chicago Bears logo. And that's fine 1262 01:03:00,880 --> 01:03:03,800 Speaker 1: because everything's fine around the Bears right now because the 1263 01:03:03,880 --> 01:03:07,920 Speaker 1: Eberflus Revolution is upon us. Justin fields through two second 1264 01:03:07,960 --> 01:03:11,240 Speaker 1: half touchdowns, including that go ahead score to equan st Brown, 1265 01:03:11,640 --> 01:03:15,160 Speaker 1: Eddie Jackson set up TV with an interception, and yes, 1266 01:03:15,280 --> 01:03:18,480 Speaker 1: the Bears beat the Niners nineteen ten on a rainy 1267 01:03:18,600 --> 01:03:24,400 Speaker 1: day in Chicago. A Mark sela, weather is the ultimate equalizer, 1268 01:03:24,400 --> 01:03:27,240 Speaker 1: Am I right? Well, you're dead right, and I'm not 1269 01:03:27,320 --> 01:03:31,240 Speaker 1: surprised that you are. But this the rain in this game. Uh, 1270 01:03:31,480 --> 01:03:34,920 Speaker 1: at times it became manageable, but there were moments of 1271 01:03:35,080 --> 01:03:38,920 Speaker 1: intense downpour. I mean, it's certainly it's almost hard to 1272 01:03:39,040 --> 01:03:42,160 Speaker 1: evaluate the quarterback playing. This was gonna be my my 1273 01:03:42,280 --> 01:03:44,640 Speaker 1: follow up question, which is how much do you put 1274 01:03:44,760 --> 01:03:46,680 Speaker 1: in this game because of the other how much did 1275 01:03:46,720 --> 01:03:49,040 Speaker 1: that play a role or should be given be given? 1276 01:03:49,160 --> 01:03:51,120 Speaker 1: Chicago a lot of credit for what happened. I did 1277 01:03:51,160 --> 01:03:54,080 Speaker 1: give them credit just because the Niners, if anything, you 1278 01:03:54,160 --> 01:03:57,000 Speaker 1: believe in their defense entirely. And when Justin Fields, who 1279 01:03:57,000 --> 01:03:59,400 Speaker 1: had nineteen yards in the first half and really was 1280 01:03:59,440 --> 01:04:02,880 Speaker 1: not a fact or he found holes in the Niner 1281 01:04:02,960 --> 01:04:05,320 Speaker 1: secondary to make some big plays. He had a fifty 1282 01:04:05,360 --> 01:04:07,080 Speaker 1: one yard touchdown strike he had that one do a 1283 01:04:07,120 --> 01:04:08,880 Speaker 1: nick with me as St. Brown, I mean where he 1284 01:04:08,960 --> 01:04:10,400 Speaker 1: had two guys open on that. I thought he saw 1285 01:04:10,480 --> 01:04:13,439 Speaker 1: the field field well there, so he made the most 1286 01:04:13,520 --> 01:04:16,760 Speaker 1: of it. Uh. I. Both teams ran the ball thirty 1287 01:04:16,840 --> 01:04:19,200 Speaker 1: seven times, but I think the Niners probably came into 1288 01:04:19,200 --> 01:04:22,120 Speaker 1: the game wanting to do that to begin with. They 1289 01:04:22,280 --> 01:04:24,800 Speaker 1: Trey Lance was not going to the air very early 1290 01:04:24,880 --> 01:04:26,640 Speaker 1: on because of the weather. But Trey Lance to me, 1291 01:04:27,000 --> 01:04:28,840 Speaker 1: and it's gonna be a real week to week journey 1292 01:04:28,880 --> 01:04:31,680 Speaker 1: with Trey Lance because he will always do things in 1293 01:04:31,760 --> 01:04:34,640 Speaker 1: a game that make you believe. But there were times 1294 01:04:34,720 --> 01:04:37,120 Speaker 1: when he looked really lost to me, and he generated 1295 01:04:37,160 --> 01:04:39,600 Speaker 1: three points in the second half. They couldn't get out 1296 01:04:39,600 --> 01:04:41,360 Speaker 1: of their own way. It just it's quarterback. Looks like 1297 01:04:41,440 --> 01:04:44,480 Speaker 1: it will be a liability at times, but again because 1298 01:04:44,520 --> 01:04:50,080 Speaker 1: of the because of the weather, because of the weather, 1299 01:04:50,240 --> 01:04:52,560 Speaker 1: he's been all over the map all summer, and I 1300 01:04:52,680 --> 01:04:55,080 Speaker 1: think it's just it's a lot like they really broke 1301 01:04:55,160 --> 01:04:57,880 Speaker 1: down the fact that, like this Niner's offense, while it's 1302 01:04:57,960 --> 01:05:02,080 Speaker 1: quarterback friendly and your it's well coached, the terminology, the 1303 01:05:02,360 --> 01:05:05,360 Speaker 1: whole mental process of taking on what what they're asking 1304 01:05:05,400 --> 01:05:07,880 Speaker 1: a quarterback to do takes time. It's not easy. And 1305 01:05:08,160 --> 01:05:09,720 Speaker 1: this is someone that has not played a lot of 1306 01:05:09,760 --> 01:05:12,440 Speaker 1: football in the past couple of years, and he's got 1307 01:05:12,560 --> 01:05:14,280 Speaker 1: the gifts. I mean, I thought there were a couple 1308 01:05:14,320 --> 01:05:17,080 Speaker 1: of times when Trey Lance uh stood up in the 1309 01:05:17,120 --> 01:05:19,320 Speaker 1: pocket and made a throw when he could have in 1310 01:05:19,400 --> 01:05:21,080 Speaker 1: a different place. If he were a little bit less 1311 01:05:21,120 --> 01:05:23,040 Speaker 1: lower on its maturity at this point on the field, 1312 01:05:23,160 --> 01:05:24,920 Speaker 1: he would have taken off to scramble like I mean, 1313 01:05:24,960 --> 01:05:27,680 Speaker 1: he tried to make plays, but they just they this 1314 01:05:27,840 --> 01:05:29,840 Speaker 1: was not their day. And I really thought that some 1315 01:05:29,920 --> 01:05:33,919 Speaker 1: of defensive breakdowns led to tray Lander led to Justin 1316 01:05:34,040 --> 01:05:36,480 Speaker 1: Fields saving it for the Bears. This is a big win. 1317 01:05:36,560 --> 01:05:38,400 Speaker 1: I mean, this is a Super Bowl type team the Niners, 1318 01:05:38,480 --> 01:05:40,320 Speaker 1: and people were looking at the Bears as a bottom 1319 01:05:40,400 --> 01:05:43,880 Speaker 1: five operations. They're clearly rebuilding. I don't think anyone expected 1320 01:05:43,920 --> 01:05:46,800 Speaker 1: this to happen. It's a it's a nice moment for Chicago, 1321 01:05:47,120 --> 01:05:49,560 Speaker 1: right They only had two d and four total yards. 1322 01:05:49,680 --> 01:05:54,280 Speaker 1: They were outgained by a hundred and twenty seven yards. 1323 01:05:54,360 --> 01:05:58,320 Speaker 1: So it's not a traditional win. But who Caress and 1324 01:05:58,400 --> 01:06:00,720 Speaker 1: the forty Niners in terms of bad whether it's like that, 1325 01:06:00,840 --> 01:06:03,160 Speaker 1: that's how they got to the NFC Championship as they 1326 01:06:03,200 --> 01:06:05,640 Speaker 1: found a way to win a bad weather game, losing 1327 01:06:05,760 --> 01:06:10,520 Speaker 1: Elijah Mitchell so early in the game. Uh, it did 1328 01:06:10,560 --> 01:06:13,120 Speaker 1: not sound like a back Jeff Wilson came in. But 1329 01:06:13,160 --> 01:06:15,200 Speaker 1: I mean, I I don't know, to be honest, Like 1330 01:06:15,640 --> 01:06:18,440 Speaker 1: it wasn't helpful at all, But isn't it every season 1331 01:06:18,480 --> 01:06:22,360 Speaker 1: that are losing running backs? Like but I feel like 1332 01:06:22,440 --> 01:06:26,880 Speaker 1: Elijah Mitchell was so easily the number one most talented 1333 01:06:26,920 --> 01:06:30,360 Speaker 1: guy on that team. They could have used George that most. 1334 01:06:30,480 --> 01:06:33,280 Speaker 1: It's not there. And and one thing to watch really 1335 01:06:33,400 --> 01:06:35,560 Speaker 1: for the rest of the season, and and I will 1336 01:06:35,680 --> 01:06:38,160 Speaker 1: when I watch this game, is that they have four 1337 01:06:38,240 --> 01:06:42,840 Speaker 1: new offensive line starters, none of them with pedigree, almost 1338 01:06:42,920 --> 01:06:45,880 Speaker 1: none of them with any playing experience, almost none of them, 1339 01:06:45,960 --> 01:06:49,400 Speaker 1: you know, being drafted in the first five rounds. On 1340 01:06:49,520 --> 01:06:52,440 Speaker 1: most teams, that's all anyone would talk about. But because 1341 01:06:52,480 --> 01:06:55,160 Speaker 1: it's the forty niners and they will get mcglinchie back, 1342 01:06:55,160 --> 01:06:57,960 Speaker 1: who's hurt, people are just like, well, Shanahan always figures 1343 01:06:58,000 --> 01:07:00,400 Speaker 1: it out. But it's it's something to watch. It is 1344 01:07:00,560 --> 01:07:05,080 Speaker 1: and you know, yards and penalties just to sloppy starts 1345 01:07:05,120 --> 01:07:07,200 Speaker 1: of this season. I'm gonna watch this game. I want 1346 01:07:07,200 --> 01:07:10,080 Speaker 1: to figure out what's going on. I already Bears fans 1347 01:07:10,640 --> 01:07:12,240 Speaker 1: getting on me and the mentions because I had the 1348 01:07:12,240 --> 01:07:14,200 Speaker 1: Bears at thirty two in the power rankings, like, well, 1349 01:07:14,240 --> 01:07:16,919 Speaker 1: we beat your team at number three. Well, yeah, that's 1350 01:07:17,080 --> 01:07:20,400 Speaker 1: that's that's fair. It's a nice win for them. But 1351 01:07:20,560 --> 01:07:22,880 Speaker 1: I do want to see both of these teams on 1352 01:07:23,160 --> 01:07:25,520 Speaker 1: a dry track and see where things are a week 1353 01:07:25,560 --> 01:07:28,680 Speaker 1: from now. But taking nothing away from Chicago, that's a 1354 01:07:28,720 --> 01:07:31,560 Speaker 1: big win. Uh. And again a city that's starving for 1355 01:07:31,680 --> 01:07:34,760 Speaker 1: anything of interest to beat the Niners, who came within 1356 01:07:34,840 --> 01:07:36,520 Speaker 1: a fourth quarter of meltdown of going to the Super 1357 01:07:36,560 --> 01:07:40,480 Speaker 1: Bowl last year. Very nice, very nice start, all right, 1358 01:07:40,560 --> 01:07:47,440 Speaker 1: let us keep moving on. Let's head to Miami, Miamis. 1359 01:07:48,800 --> 01:07:53,280 Speaker 1: Let's come into got him footballs out touchdown Miami. Ingram 1360 01:07:53,680 --> 01:07:58,320 Speaker 1: picked it up on the bounce. Yes that Melvin Ingram, 1361 01:07:58,960 --> 01:08:01,120 Speaker 1: no gloves on, doesn't wear the gloves I always like that, 1362 01:08:01,320 --> 01:08:06,800 Speaker 1: no tape. Driss player Jimmy Cephalo w q A M 1363 01:08:07,240 --> 01:08:10,280 Speaker 1: with the call, Safety Brandon Jones screamed off the corner, 1364 01:08:10,600 --> 01:08:14,520 Speaker 1: walloped mac Jones. The ensuing fumble scooped up and running 1365 01:08:14,560 --> 01:08:17,040 Speaker 1: for a score by Ingram. The signature played for the 1366 01:08:17,080 --> 01:08:20,400 Speaker 1: Dolphins in a twenty seven win over the Patriots and 1367 01:08:20,560 --> 01:08:24,920 Speaker 1: Mike McDaniel's debut as head coach of the Dolphins uh 1368 01:08:25,080 --> 01:08:28,160 Speaker 1: to a tongue of voloa through for to seventy and 1369 01:08:28,240 --> 01:08:31,719 Speaker 1: a touchdown flash some chemistry Tyreek Hill, who was involved 1370 01:08:31,800 --> 01:08:35,320 Speaker 1: early and often. Um, But this was about the defense 1371 01:08:35,520 --> 01:08:36,960 Speaker 1: and they were the star in this game. And the 1372 01:08:37,040 --> 01:08:40,360 Speaker 1: Patriots managed a single scoring drive on a day that 1373 01:08:40,600 --> 01:08:43,280 Speaker 1: ended with mac Jones dipping into an X ray room 1374 01:08:43,720 --> 01:08:46,760 Speaker 1: to get his back looked at. They canceled his subsequent 1375 01:08:47,360 --> 01:08:50,960 Speaker 1: um press availability because of that. So as we record this, 1376 01:08:51,080 --> 01:08:52,960 Speaker 1: we don't know if that's a serious issue or what. 1377 01:08:54,160 --> 01:08:56,960 Speaker 1: But here we are, Gregg, this is where we're at 1378 01:08:57,040 --> 01:08:59,880 Speaker 1: right now. I thought that the Patriots the score tells 1379 01:09:00,000 --> 01:09:02,360 Speaker 1: you know, you score once and all these drives are 1380 01:09:02,479 --> 01:09:04,200 Speaker 1: not a good day for the offense. The fact that 1381 01:09:04,240 --> 01:09:06,120 Speaker 1: Mac Jones could be hurt, that could be a disaster 1382 01:09:06,240 --> 01:09:08,800 Speaker 1: for this offense. But I think the second commater night 1383 01:09:08,920 --> 01:09:13,640 Speaker 1: night if um, it was the second quarter where they 1384 01:09:13,720 --> 01:09:15,760 Speaker 1: let the game go away. The second quarter. When you 1385 01:09:15,840 --> 01:09:18,559 Speaker 1: watch this game, you'll say, oh, that's the Patriots offense 1386 01:09:18,640 --> 01:09:21,000 Speaker 1: that we heard about all summer. The rest of the game, 1387 01:09:21,040 --> 01:09:24,000 Speaker 1: they they found they moved the ball at times on 1388 01:09:24,080 --> 01:09:27,280 Speaker 1: the ground, especially, so it wasn't an out and out disaster. 1389 01:09:27,920 --> 01:09:30,559 Speaker 1: Um that you might expect, but at the same time, 1390 01:09:30,680 --> 01:09:33,439 Speaker 1: results are results, and this is a relatively easy win 1391 01:09:33,560 --> 01:09:35,720 Speaker 1: from Miami, despite the fact that it looks like it 1392 01:09:35,800 --> 01:09:39,800 Speaker 1: was somewhat close, right, I mean, trying to take some 1393 01:09:39,960 --> 01:09:41,960 Speaker 1: sort of moral victory, and I've seen You're not the 1394 01:09:42,040 --> 01:09:43,800 Speaker 1: only one positioning it this way. I could. I've seen 1395 01:09:43,840 --> 01:09:46,280 Speaker 1: it sort in some Patriots circles like well, actually, the 1396 01:09:46,400 --> 01:09:49,840 Speaker 1: running game looked pretty professional for most of it. They 1397 01:09:49,920 --> 01:09:51,840 Speaker 1: just had to go away from it and they moved 1398 01:09:51,880 --> 01:09:54,560 Speaker 1: the ball. It's like if you're trying to spin positives 1399 01:09:54,560 --> 01:09:57,120 Speaker 1: out of a seven point performance where you lose by 1400 01:09:57,240 --> 01:09:59,880 Speaker 1: thirteen against a Dolphins team, that's you know, it's not 1401 01:10:00,080 --> 01:10:03,320 Speaker 1: seventy two Dolphins here. Uh. That just shows you where 1402 01:10:03,400 --> 01:10:05,519 Speaker 1: the bar is right now, and it's at a different 1403 01:10:05,640 --> 01:10:07,920 Speaker 1: level than than I think I can remember in the 1404 01:10:08,040 --> 01:10:11,719 Speaker 1: last twenty years. It's concerning they did lose the turnover 1405 01:10:11,760 --> 01:10:14,240 Speaker 1: battle three to nothing that there's no way they're going 1406 01:10:14,280 --> 01:10:16,320 Speaker 1: to be able to survive that way that's been there. 1407 01:10:17,200 --> 01:10:21,479 Speaker 1: Their most consistent aspect to the Bill Belichick regime is 1408 01:10:21,560 --> 01:10:23,960 Speaker 1: turnover margin. Even with Mac Jones last year, it's one 1409 01:10:24,000 --> 01:10:25,240 Speaker 1: of the ways they ended up being in the top 1410 01:10:25,320 --> 01:10:27,280 Speaker 1: ten in scoring as they had all these short fields 1411 01:10:27,360 --> 01:10:29,040 Speaker 1: and that's that's the way they're gonna have to win 1412 01:10:29,120 --> 01:10:31,479 Speaker 1: this year. And it was the opposite today. The Athletic 1413 01:10:31,560 --> 01:10:34,519 Speaker 1: wrote it this way. The scheme was bad, the receivers 1414 01:10:34,560 --> 01:10:37,479 Speaker 1: couldn't get open, the line struggled, a bad day all 1415 01:10:37,520 --> 01:10:39,880 Speaker 1: around for the offense. And I guess what I'm concerned 1416 01:10:39,880 --> 01:10:41,200 Speaker 1: about a little bit is because I think that we 1417 01:10:41,280 --> 01:10:45,920 Speaker 1: were contemplating a reality where like the regular season begins, uh, 1418 01:10:46,040 --> 01:10:50,639 Speaker 1: switches flipped in all this summertime, issues, problems, concerns over 1419 01:10:50,680 --> 01:10:52,680 Speaker 1: the offense go away, and it's it seems to me 1420 01:10:52,880 --> 01:10:54,680 Speaker 1: to be I don't know. I mean, I've been more 1421 01:10:54,720 --> 01:10:56,760 Speaker 1: optimistic others. I didn't even think that would happen. I 1422 01:10:56,800 --> 01:10:59,840 Speaker 1: think this is gonna take time. But I don't think 1423 01:10:59,840 --> 01:11:02,600 Speaker 1: it's cold. It's it's not. You can't say it's a 1424 01:11:02,640 --> 01:11:04,840 Speaker 1: good start. I want to know, like, who are the 1425 01:11:04,920 --> 01:11:07,400 Speaker 1: playmakers on this team. Kendrick Born led the team in 1426 01:11:07,439 --> 01:11:09,479 Speaker 1: receiving last year, didn't even play until the fourth quarter. 1427 01:11:09,880 --> 01:11:12,680 Speaker 1: He's been in the doghouse. I don't know what can 1428 01:11:12,760 --> 01:11:16,000 Speaker 1: they afford to stuff like And this is maybe he's 1429 01:11:16,040 --> 01:11:18,760 Speaker 1: getting to her like a more broad um insight on 1430 01:11:18,840 --> 01:11:20,960 Speaker 1: the Patriots or an attempt at insight that you could 1431 01:11:21,040 --> 01:11:22,639 Speaker 1: us you can get away with that stuff when Tom 1432 01:11:22,680 --> 01:11:24,760 Speaker 1: Brady was the quarterback, if born as a guy that 1433 01:11:24,840 --> 01:11:27,280 Speaker 1: can make plays, get him on the field, figure out 1434 01:11:27,280 --> 01:11:29,439 Speaker 1: whatever it is, get it worked out, or get him 1435 01:11:29,439 --> 01:11:30,960 Speaker 1: out of the building and find someone else that can 1436 01:11:31,000 --> 01:11:35,400 Speaker 1: make those plays. So I wasn't overly uh one over 1437 01:11:35,520 --> 01:11:38,600 Speaker 1: by TWA and the offense, yet I know it was 1438 01:11:38,720 --> 01:11:40,880 Speaker 1: an again a nice win. You get, you beat New 1439 01:11:40,960 --> 01:11:43,560 Speaker 1: England again, which is becoming a regular thing for the 1440 01:11:43,640 --> 01:11:46,479 Speaker 1: Dolphins lately. But I still need to see more from 1441 01:11:46,520 --> 01:11:49,520 Speaker 1: their offense. Will be interesting how they do against Baltimore. 1442 01:11:49,640 --> 01:11:52,160 Speaker 1: In Baltimore. The Ravens played very well against the Jets 1443 01:11:52,240 --> 01:11:55,679 Speaker 1: on defense today. But the Patriots, we're gonna see Greggy, 1444 01:11:55,920 --> 01:11:59,479 Speaker 1: especially if mac Jones is injured. That's a major problem. Yeah, 1445 01:11:59,520 --> 01:12:03,040 Speaker 1: they're early is not easy as well. I do think 1446 01:12:03,160 --> 01:12:05,760 Speaker 1: that you can look at certain situations with two uh 1447 01:12:06,000 --> 01:12:07,920 Speaker 1: and in this game, you know, first getting the ball 1448 01:12:08,000 --> 01:12:09,880 Speaker 1: that much to Tyreek Hill and letting him make some 1449 01:12:09,960 --> 01:12:12,519 Speaker 1: plays after the catch early, but that forty two yard 1450 01:12:12,600 --> 01:12:15,600 Speaker 1: touchdown to Jalen Waddle with eighteen seconds left in the 1451 01:12:15,680 --> 01:12:18,200 Speaker 1: first half. You know, probably the key playing the game 1452 01:12:18,200 --> 01:12:21,720 Speaker 1: along with that fumble return for the touchdown that's on 1453 01:12:21,840 --> 01:12:24,559 Speaker 1: a fourth and seven in a in an awkward part 1454 01:12:24,640 --> 01:12:26,760 Speaker 1: of the field, that with that much time left, there's 1455 01:12:26,800 --> 01:12:29,720 Speaker 1: twenty four seconds left to start to play that if 1456 01:12:29,840 --> 01:12:32,720 Speaker 1: if it's an incompletion there, you know, the Patriots have 1457 01:12:32,840 --> 01:12:35,519 Speaker 1: twenty seconds to to go get a field goal. But 1458 01:12:35,680 --> 01:12:40,160 Speaker 1: Mike McDaniel, um, I think showing some stones, showing some 1459 01:12:40,360 --> 01:12:44,040 Speaker 1: confidence in his young quarterback. For yeah, we can call 1460 01:12:44,080 --> 01:12:46,439 Speaker 1: them stones. I've we've learned what we can talk about. 1461 01:12:46,560 --> 01:12:51,040 Speaker 1: You can talk stones that you know, that's showing something 1462 01:12:51,160 --> 01:12:53,560 Speaker 1: that's a that's not a short fourth down to go for, 1463 01:12:53,960 --> 01:12:57,040 Speaker 1: and for him to reward that confidence with a nice 1464 01:12:57,080 --> 01:12:59,439 Speaker 1: strike that that Jalen Waddle does the work. That's great. 1465 01:12:59,720 --> 01:13:02,640 Speaker 1: Trying who's on the call for CBS in this game. 1466 01:13:02,680 --> 01:13:04,640 Speaker 1: Maybe he was Dan Fouts, Fouts is still there, right, 1467 01:13:05,439 --> 01:13:09,040 Speaker 1: Fouts gone, I can't remember. Whoever it was was saying, oh, 1468 01:13:09,160 --> 01:13:10,880 Speaker 1: they should not be doing this, they should not be 1469 01:13:10,960 --> 01:13:13,240 Speaker 1: going for this fourth down near midfield for the reasons 1470 01:13:13,320 --> 01:13:16,400 Speaker 1: Greg said. And then Jalen Wattle catches ball and stride 1471 01:13:16,479 --> 01:13:18,719 Speaker 1: and he's gone. So that was kind of a turning 1472 01:13:18,800 --> 01:13:21,400 Speaker 1: point in this game, I do. Tyree Hill did speak 1473 01:13:22,240 --> 01:13:28,519 Speaker 1: with Adam Arceletta along with Greg Gumbels. He completely it 1474 01:13:28,600 --> 01:13:31,240 Speaker 1: was Archiletta who's doubting it, and then Archieletta said, you 1475 01:13:31,280 --> 01:13:34,720 Speaker 1: know what that take I take that back anyway, Tyree Hill. 1476 01:13:35,040 --> 01:13:37,559 Speaker 1: He was wearing his uh, the viper what are they called, 1477 01:13:37,600 --> 01:13:40,160 Speaker 1: pit vipers? Whatever those classes are, it's not gonna age 1478 01:13:40,160 --> 01:13:43,759 Speaker 1: well and keeps asking us unanswerable questions. The pit pit vipers? 1479 01:13:43,880 --> 01:13:45,760 Speaker 1: Is that what it is? Graver? You're young. I got 1480 01:13:45,840 --> 01:13:48,200 Speaker 1: thumbs up from people. He's wearing the pit vipers and 1481 01:13:48,240 --> 01:13:50,240 Speaker 1: the pit vipers. I just want to let everybody know 1482 01:13:51,040 --> 01:13:53,960 Speaker 1: that lived through the early nineties as a teen when 1483 01:13:54,000 --> 01:13:56,960 Speaker 1: stuff like this was popular. It's gonna look really stupid 1484 01:13:57,000 --> 01:13:59,639 Speaker 1: and like ten twelve years I see what I see 1485 01:13:59,640 --> 01:14:02,360 Speaker 1: what you're looking at now. Yeah, that's a hideous choice 1486 01:14:02,400 --> 01:14:05,000 Speaker 1: for He was watching his pit vipers in the locker 1487 01:14:05,080 --> 01:14:08,639 Speaker 1: room and talking up Mike McDaniels, who has stones for days. 1488 01:14:10,479 --> 01:14:13,920 Speaker 1: Oh man, I said this outside man like, hey McDaniels, 1489 01:14:14,160 --> 01:14:17,040 Speaker 1: he's gonna need a wheelbarrow man for the can because 1490 01:14:17,040 --> 01:14:19,160 Speaker 1: you got a lot of you know what, I'm saying 1491 01:14:19,240 --> 01:14:23,120 Speaker 1: so Gussie called by him we had two um ways 1492 01:14:23,160 --> 01:14:27,080 Speaker 1: to describe men's testicles that were bleeped out there, but 1493 01:14:27,560 --> 01:14:29,639 Speaker 1: just no, that's what he was referring to. The man's 1494 01:14:29,680 --> 01:14:32,599 Speaker 1: got gumption. He also called Hi McDaniels. I would maybe 1495 01:14:32,640 --> 01:14:34,479 Speaker 1: at some point, because you know, I think a lot 1496 01:14:34,520 --> 01:14:37,160 Speaker 1: of writers and others did the same out of the gate. 1497 01:14:37,240 --> 01:14:39,800 Speaker 1: But your your head coach's last name is McDaniel. I'm 1498 01:14:39,800 --> 01:14:42,840 Speaker 1: just gonna let you know. I didn't even realize I 1499 01:14:43,000 --> 01:14:46,120 Speaker 1: was stealing Tyreek Hill's bit there, you know, I mean, 1500 01:14:46,160 --> 01:14:48,200 Speaker 1: I took his point. I I said that he had 1501 01:14:50,120 --> 01:14:52,360 Speaker 1: I thought you were I thought you were just building tonight. 1502 01:14:52,560 --> 01:14:54,479 Speaker 1: It was a reference to it because we are like 1503 01:14:54,960 --> 01:14:57,679 Speaker 1: um some people that we've worked out over the years. 1504 01:14:57,880 --> 01:15:00,160 Speaker 1: I'm thinking of one in particular who no longer is 1505 01:15:00,200 --> 01:15:01,679 Speaker 1: at our company, but we used to do a show 1506 01:15:01,680 --> 01:15:03,599 Speaker 1: with him. If you would say something in a pre 1507 01:15:03,760 --> 01:15:06,439 Speaker 1: show meeting, he would always steal whatever your point is 1508 01:15:06,720 --> 01:15:08,519 Speaker 1: and then use it on the show. That was kind 1509 01:15:08,560 --> 01:15:10,599 Speaker 1: of what I did to Tyreek Hill right there. Well, 1510 01:15:10,800 --> 01:15:12,320 Speaker 1: I think he'll get over it. And by the way, 1511 01:15:12,360 --> 01:15:14,760 Speaker 1: there was a at hard Rock Stadium. There was a 1512 01:15:14,840 --> 01:15:19,200 Speaker 1: stadium fire. Someone left on their their grill and then 1513 01:15:19,240 --> 01:15:23,000 Speaker 1: it blew up a bunch of cars. So you can 1514 01:15:23,080 --> 01:15:25,519 Speaker 1: connect that to the Patriots and their offense however you want. 1515 01:15:25,600 --> 01:15:29,160 Speaker 1: But it was an implosion of some kind for New England. 1516 01:15:29,200 --> 01:15:32,160 Speaker 1: And let's see how they get back on track. If 1517 01:15:32,240 --> 01:15:34,880 Speaker 1: they can, let's move on to another a f C 1518 01:15:35,000 --> 01:15:36,880 Speaker 1: East team that once again is trying to get back 1519 01:15:36,960 --> 01:15:40,040 Speaker 1: on track. The Jets hosted the Ravens at the Meadow Ends. 1520 01:15:40,960 --> 01:15:45,840 Speaker 1: Lamar winding up going deep for Batman. He's got him touchdown. 1521 01:15:46,800 --> 01:15:50,920 Speaker 1: Third touchdown today for Lamar Jackson and that was a 1522 01:15:51,160 --> 01:15:57,160 Speaker 1: strike from deep fifty five yards. How long? How long 1523 01:15:57,320 --> 01:16:05,800 Speaker 1: must we sing this song? Hellong? Hellong? Jerry Sandusky with 1524 01:16:05,880 --> 01:16:09,599 Speaker 1: the call w B A L. Lamar Jackson threw three 1525 01:16:09,680 --> 01:16:13,320 Speaker 1: touchdown passes, including two to Devonne do Rene. I mean, 1526 01:16:13,360 --> 01:16:24,320 Speaker 1: what are we doing here? I touchdowns or whatever? The 1527 01:16:24,439 --> 01:16:29,920 Speaker 1: Ravens roll past the Jets on a rainy Sunday, very 1528 01:16:30,160 --> 01:16:35,479 Speaker 1: very talented group. Jackson went seventeen of thirty two thirteen 1529 01:16:35,560 --> 01:16:39,880 Speaker 1: yards touched under Seoan Bateman through one pick uh. This 1530 01:16:40,360 --> 01:16:44,120 Speaker 1: came after ESPN reported that Jackson had turned down a 1531 01:16:44,560 --> 01:16:47,439 Speaker 1: five year extension worth more than two fifty million dollars. 1532 01:16:47,520 --> 01:16:49,639 Speaker 1: So he's pulling, he's doing the iron judge move. He's 1533 01:16:49,680 --> 01:16:51,760 Speaker 1: betting on himself, and he says, I'm going to be 1534 01:16:51,800 --> 01:16:53,960 Speaker 1: the highest paid player in the world after I finished 1535 01:16:54,040 --> 01:16:57,840 Speaker 1: this season. So starting off well for Jackson didn't run 1536 01:16:57,960 --> 01:17:00,880 Speaker 1: much in this game. Uh. In fact, Ravens didn't do 1537 01:17:01,080 --> 01:17:03,599 Speaker 1: much in this game on offense. Initially, the Jets defense 1538 01:17:03,680 --> 01:17:08,000 Speaker 1: came out flying around, but the Ravens defense was better 1539 01:17:08,240 --> 01:17:11,519 Speaker 1: because and part of that is Jets don't have Lamar Jackson. 1540 01:17:11,560 --> 01:17:15,040 Speaker 1: The Jets have Joe Flacco and Joe Flacco in front 1541 01:17:15,080 --> 01:17:17,880 Speaker 1: of a line that can't really block well right now, 1542 01:17:17,960 --> 01:17:22,160 Speaker 1: with George Fans struggling specifically after being moving back to 1543 01:17:22,360 --> 01:17:25,800 Speaker 1: left tackle, after being at right tackle, after being at 1544 01:17:25,920 --> 01:17:28,599 Speaker 1: left tackle, snip snap, snip snap, and then they lost 1545 01:17:28,680 --> 01:17:31,479 Speaker 1: their right tackle right they had a rookie. Uh, they 1546 01:17:31,560 --> 01:17:33,479 Speaker 1: put in a rookie. I might have missed that. I 1547 01:17:33,520 --> 01:17:35,719 Speaker 1: don't know if that if he went out with Anyway, 1548 01:17:36,000 --> 01:17:37,880 Speaker 1: the point is that Jets could not move the ball. 1549 01:17:38,200 --> 01:17:41,080 Speaker 1: The Ravens made enough plays and then in the third 1550 01:17:41,200 --> 01:17:43,040 Speaker 1: quarter hit on a couple of big ones and this 1551 01:17:43,160 --> 01:17:46,040 Speaker 1: game was over. So very disappointing if your Jets fan, 1552 01:17:46,120 --> 01:17:48,320 Speaker 1: if you're a Ravens fan, it's a big turn the 1553 01:17:48,400 --> 01:17:52,439 Speaker 1: page after last year's frustrations and you move on with 1554 01:17:52,560 --> 01:17:54,760 Speaker 1: the w in your back pocket you were expecting to get. 1555 01:17:55,360 --> 01:17:58,000 Speaker 1: Are you concerned, I know that you said the defense 1556 01:17:58,080 --> 01:17:59,759 Speaker 1: came out playing well for the Jets. Are you concerned 1557 01:17:59,760 --> 01:18:02,680 Speaker 1: about the coaching overall, the offensive coaching or is it 1558 01:18:02,800 --> 01:18:05,519 Speaker 1: just the Joe Flacco can't do it anymore? Yeah? I don't. 1559 01:18:05,600 --> 01:18:07,880 Speaker 1: I think with Jets fans we're just sick of it. 1560 01:18:08,040 --> 01:18:10,320 Speaker 1: It's just like, come on now, I don't want to 1561 01:18:10,320 --> 01:18:13,000 Speaker 1: hear any excuses. I think Robert Salo and Joe Douglas 1562 01:18:13,200 --> 01:18:16,320 Speaker 1: and and you could say, yeah, sure, Joe Flacco was 1563 01:18:16,400 --> 01:18:18,960 Speaker 1: in there, so whatever. But at the same time, we've 1564 01:18:19,000 --> 01:18:21,960 Speaker 1: heard some not so great things about Zack Wilson's development 1565 01:18:22,000 --> 01:18:24,400 Speaker 1: behind the scenes, and he's coming off a bad rookie year. 1566 01:18:24,479 --> 01:18:26,640 Speaker 1: So the idea, now we're gonna switch. You're gonna ask 1567 01:18:26,720 --> 01:18:28,800 Speaker 1: Jets fans now to switch from Oh, let's get behind 1568 01:18:28,880 --> 01:18:31,000 Speaker 1: Joe Flacco. Maybe we'll keep the job too. Oh man, 1569 01:18:31,080 --> 01:18:33,400 Speaker 1: if we could just get Zack Wilson back, we need 1570 01:18:33,479 --> 01:18:37,920 Speaker 1: to Flacco more than any people outside the Flacco family. Absolutely, 1571 01:18:38,080 --> 01:18:41,559 Speaker 1: so when we're expected, when we're being told by Robert 1572 01:18:41,600 --> 01:18:44,280 Speaker 1: Salo what a great player Joe Flacco still is. And 1573 01:18:44,360 --> 01:18:47,560 Speaker 1: then this is the performance by the offense. Yeah, it's disappointing. 1574 01:18:47,600 --> 01:18:49,960 Speaker 1: And it was a sloppy performance overall by the Jets, 1575 01:18:50,000 --> 01:18:54,479 Speaker 1: who dropped, drop touchdown passes, fumbled the ball, just didn't 1576 01:18:54,600 --> 01:18:58,200 Speaker 1: play well. And uh, you know, on the raven side, 1577 01:18:59,200 --> 01:19:01,519 Speaker 1: just a great job by their defense, which obviously had 1578 01:19:01,920 --> 01:19:04,320 Speaker 1: a nice assignment in Week one, but they just took 1579 01:19:04,360 --> 01:19:06,680 Speaker 1: care of business and they were able on offense to 1580 01:19:06,760 --> 01:19:09,200 Speaker 1: get by. We didn't have Ronnie Stanley in this game, 1581 01:19:09,280 --> 01:19:11,519 Speaker 1: the left tackle, but then Juwan James, who the poor 1582 01:19:11,560 --> 01:19:13,960 Speaker 1: guy just can't stay healthy. He goes out again and 1583 01:19:14,040 --> 01:19:16,400 Speaker 1: gets carded. So they finished the game with their third 1584 01:19:16,479 --> 01:19:19,400 Speaker 1: string left tackle. But they're still moving the ball and 1585 01:19:19,479 --> 01:19:21,360 Speaker 1: scoring points when they need to in this game. So 1586 01:19:21,920 --> 01:19:24,599 Speaker 1: they're just two franchises in different places. And if you're 1587 01:19:24,600 --> 01:19:27,320 Speaker 1: a Jets fan, it is not too soon to panic 1588 01:19:27,439 --> 01:19:29,760 Speaker 1: because this is not supposed to be the way this 1589 01:19:29,960 --> 01:19:32,960 Speaker 1: game played out. My dad, Keith Hanss, who was supposed 1590 01:19:33,000 --> 01:19:35,160 Speaker 1: to give us a dispatch today, he went to the 1591 01:19:35,240 --> 01:19:39,200 Speaker 1: meadow Lands with some family friends, did the whole tailgating 1592 01:19:39,439 --> 01:19:41,080 Speaker 1: and went there and got rained on and watched a 1593 01:19:41,160 --> 01:19:44,240 Speaker 1: team no show, and it's just like enough, let's go, 1594 01:19:45,160 --> 01:19:48,200 Speaker 1: let's go. Let's start doing something and giving the fans 1595 01:19:48,320 --> 01:19:52,040 Speaker 1: something to at least root for, because again the calendar changes, 1596 01:19:52,479 --> 01:19:55,680 Speaker 1: nothing seems to change for the Jets. Good job by 1597 01:19:57,600 --> 01:20:00,799 Speaker 1: oh it sure is. I think I think the Ravens, 1598 01:20:00,960 --> 01:20:03,719 Speaker 1: who are still short some key players. J K. Dobbins 1599 01:20:04,120 --> 01:20:05,880 Speaker 1: was out, you know, we know Gus Edwards is out, 1600 01:20:05,920 --> 01:20:09,400 Speaker 1: so Kenyan Drake was there, you know, leading rusher and 1601 01:20:09,800 --> 01:20:13,080 Speaker 1: uh well, if you want to call it that, running games. 1602 01:20:13,120 --> 01:20:15,200 Speaker 1: So that's a little that's a little bit of a concern. 1603 01:20:15,680 --> 01:20:18,519 Speaker 1: But I think they have to feel good. Granted it's 1604 01:20:18,560 --> 01:20:21,920 Speaker 1: against the Jets, but they have their secondary back and 1605 01:20:22,040 --> 01:20:24,720 Speaker 1: they're like a back to front type of defense. Make 1606 01:20:24,840 --> 01:20:27,479 Speaker 1: the other quarterback hold the ball so that the pressure 1607 01:20:27,560 --> 01:20:29,240 Speaker 1: can get there. And I went into this game, you know, 1608 01:20:29,320 --> 01:20:32,200 Speaker 1: really thinking if there is a weakness on this entire team, 1609 01:20:32,240 --> 01:20:34,760 Speaker 1: it's their pass thrush. They did get eleven quarterback hits. 1610 01:20:34,800 --> 01:20:37,840 Speaker 1: I know it's against Joe Flacco throwing the ball fifty 1611 01:20:37,920 --> 01:20:40,920 Speaker 1: nine times. Fifty nine times Joe Flacco through a fifty 1612 01:20:41,000 --> 01:20:42,759 Speaker 1: nine times. I know it was. You know that's because 1613 01:20:42,800 --> 01:20:47,800 Speaker 1: of the guess the opener against Peyton Manning, like he 1614 01:20:47,880 --> 01:20:49,880 Speaker 1: looked really old. And we know that Joe, even in 1615 01:20:49,920 --> 01:20:51,600 Speaker 1: the best of times, was never a mobile guy. But 1616 01:20:51,640 --> 01:20:55,160 Speaker 1: when you really have these statues behind an offensive line, 1617 01:20:55,280 --> 01:20:57,840 Speaker 1: it does remind you, especially in the modern game as 1618 01:20:57,880 --> 01:20:59,880 Speaker 1: fast as it is now, when you have a guy 1619 01:21:00,160 --> 01:21:02,839 Speaker 1: can't make any yardage up, it can evade the pressure 1620 01:21:02,920 --> 01:21:07,519 Speaker 1: and turn negatives into um positive plays and scramble and 1621 01:21:07,640 --> 01:21:10,439 Speaker 1: get yards. It just puts you in an even tougher 1622 01:21:10,600 --> 01:21:13,479 Speaker 1: box in terms of your offense. So very poor start. 1623 01:21:13,600 --> 01:21:17,080 Speaker 1: No excuses for Sale or Douglas or anyone else. That's 1624 01:21:17,240 --> 01:21:19,080 Speaker 1: enough of this, Like, you need to figure out a 1625 01:21:19,160 --> 01:21:22,880 Speaker 1: way to be competitive in your building to start a season. 1626 01:21:22,920 --> 01:21:25,680 Speaker 1: You've got seventy five thousand Jets fans who put up 1627 01:21:25,760 --> 01:21:29,160 Speaker 1: with BS for a decade straight, and that's how you 1628 01:21:29,280 --> 01:21:32,400 Speaker 1: started this season. They sat in the rain and waited 1629 01:21:32,479 --> 01:21:34,720 Speaker 1: for three and a half hours for something to cheer for, 1630 01:21:35,200 --> 01:21:38,480 Speaker 1: and you gave them nothing. This is no longer acceptable. 1631 01:21:38,520 --> 01:21:41,160 Speaker 1: It has been acceptable for half a decade. Now we're 1632 01:21:41,200 --> 01:21:44,360 Speaker 1: not gonna take it Jets fans are going to boo 1633 01:21:44,920 --> 01:21:48,479 Speaker 1: boo lustily and everyone heads will roll. If this happens again, 1634 01:21:48,600 --> 01:21:50,839 Speaker 1: we shall see You're going to You're going to Cleveland 1635 01:21:50,880 --> 01:21:54,720 Speaker 1: next week. We'll see how that goes. I don't my 1636 01:21:54,840 --> 01:21:57,320 Speaker 1: guard's up about this season. After a performance like that, 1637 01:21:58,360 --> 01:22:04,920 Speaker 1: should we take a break? I think yes? Oh man, unbelievable. 1638 01:22:04,960 --> 01:22:09,760 Speaker 1: Let's take a break and uh continue on. All right, 1639 01:22:09,800 --> 01:22:12,720 Speaker 1: we're back. Let's get to a great rivalry game. New 1640 01:22:12,840 --> 01:22:15,840 Speaker 1: Orleans and Atlanta. They hate each other. Let's see what 1641 01:22:15,920 --> 01:22:20,160 Speaker 1: happened in Georgia. Twenty three seconds loft Will Lots, kick 1642 01:22:20,240 --> 01:22:26,200 Speaker 1: is down and the kick is good. Well, Lots puts 1643 01:22:26,280 --> 01:22:32,720 Speaker 1: the Saints off top. What's nineteen seconds to playing? Mike 1644 01:22:32,800 --> 01:22:39,000 Speaker 1: Costs with the call w W L Lots. They missed 1645 01:22:39,080 --> 01:22:41,360 Speaker 1: Lots last year. Now they got him back. He had 1646 01:22:41,400 --> 01:22:43,920 Speaker 1: a core injury. He kicked a fifty one yard field 1647 01:22:43,960 --> 01:22:48,479 Speaker 1: goal nineteen seconds to play. After Jameis Winston lead a 1648 01:22:48,520 --> 01:22:51,560 Speaker 1: pair of late touchdown drives and the SATs steel to 1649 01:22:51,680 --> 01:22:55,360 Speaker 1: twenty six victory away from the Falcons and Dennis Allen's 1650 01:22:55,439 --> 01:22:59,880 Speaker 1: coaching debut mark. The Saints struggled to get into a 1651 01:23:00,000 --> 01:23:03,559 Speaker 1: groove offensively, but they did just in time. This game 1652 01:23:03,720 --> 01:23:07,920 Speaker 1: was insane. I think, you know, with twelve minutes to 1653 01:23:08,000 --> 01:23:11,160 Speaker 1: go in the final quarter, the Saints were down twenty 1654 01:23:11,240 --> 01:23:15,120 Speaker 1: six to ten, and I imagine myself coming on this 1655 01:23:15,240 --> 01:23:17,320 Speaker 1: show to talk with you about what I had witnessed, 1656 01:23:17,680 --> 01:23:21,479 Speaker 1: and it was all Falcons who put the heat on 1657 01:23:21,640 --> 01:23:24,560 Speaker 1: Jamis Winston early on. I had to pivot, but I 1658 01:23:24,600 --> 01:23:27,640 Speaker 1: want to talk about them to start, because you know, 1659 01:23:27,960 --> 01:23:29,920 Speaker 1: that's another team that I think people just said bottom 1660 01:23:29,960 --> 01:23:32,599 Speaker 1: three material, no skill position players, all sorts of issues 1661 01:23:32,640 --> 01:23:36,400 Speaker 1: on defense. Dean P's came out in this the defensive 1662 01:23:36,439 --> 01:23:40,200 Speaker 1: coordinator going after Winston, going after that line, and they 1663 01:23:40,240 --> 01:23:43,200 Speaker 1: were winning the battle. And then at some point in 1664 01:23:43,320 --> 01:23:48,080 Speaker 1: that fourth quarter, Jamis Winston turned magical and uh, you know, 1665 01:23:48,400 --> 01:23:50,000 Speaker 1: we we know he can do this kind of thing. 1666 01:23:50,080 --> 01:23:52,360 Speaker 1: But he over the course of these two touchdown drives, 1667 01:23:52,640 --> 01:23:55,120 Speaker 1: went eleven for twelve for a hundred and fifty seven 1668 01:23:55,360 --> 01:23:58,719 Speaker 1: hundred fifty seven yards and hitting money two point conversion 1669 01:23:58,760 --> 01:24:01,920 Speaker 1: as well. I think that they're receiving Corpsy got will 1670 01:24:02,000 --> 01:24:04,599 Speaker 1: Let's back. But Jarvis Lander had a hundred and fourteen 1671 01:24:04,680 --> 01:24:06,479 Speaker 1: yards and a couple of big plays in this big 1672 01:24:06,600 --> 01:24:10,120 Speaker 1: signing for very little for very little. Chris Lavy had 1673 01:24:10,240 --> 01:24:13,000 Speaker 1: got going, Michael Thomas the reson they were not connecting 1674 01:24:13,040 --> 01:24:15,240 Speaker 1: early on, and Jamis winstonets and throws that were a 1675 01:24:15,280 --> 01:24:19,920 Speaker 1: little bit behind. They got hot towards the end and 1676 01:24:19,960 --> 01:24:21,680 Speaker 1: you could just see the chemistry. And it kind of 1677 01:24:21,760 --> 01:24:24,360 Speaker 1: for me with New Orleans because I I they're a 1678 01:24:24,479 --> 01:24:27,680 Speaker 1: weird team there are They told us all offseason that 1679 01:24:27,760 --> 01:24:29,680 Speaker 1: Taysom Hill was going to be a tight end. We 1680 01:24:29,760 --> 01:24:32,200 Speaker 1: just should ever believed him. But he was taking direct 1681 01:24:32,280 --> 01:24:34,960 Speaker 1: snaps out of the backfield and making all sorts of 1682 01:24:35,000 --> 01:24:38,479 Speaker 1: big plays too, And so the Saints, not surprisingly are 1683 01:24:38,520 --> 01:24:41,320 Speaker 1: a fun watch, but I was real concerned about him 1684 01:24:41,360 --> 01:24:43,600 Speaker 1: through three plus quarters until they turn it around. And 1685 01:24:43,640 --> 01:24:47,640 Speaker 1: if you're the Falcons number one, This Corderrel Patterson thing, 1686 01:24:47,680 --> 01:24:49,160 Speaker 1: which a year ago I thought was just gonna be 1687 01:24:49,479 --> 01:24:51,200 Speaker 1: maybe a one year kind of flash in the pan 1688 01:24:51,880 --> 01:24:53,920 Speaker 1: undred and twenty yards of twenty two carries, had some 1689 01:24:54,040 --> 01:24:56,439 Speaker 1: big plays in this and was taking it to the 1690 01:24:56,520 --> 01:24:59,479 Speaker 1: Saints defense as well. Marcus Mariota, He's not perfect, but 1691 01:25:00,200 --> 01:25:02,200 Speaker 1: I also think that they're the way the Arthur Smith 1692 01:25:02,320 --> 01:25:05,000 Speaker 1: uses these guys like the Falcons were fun to watch. 1693 01:25:05,680 --> 01:25:09,960 Speaker 1: I can not expect This is the worst loss. They 1694 01:25:10,080 --> 01:25:12,200 Speaker 1: totally gagged and it is a bad loss. But I 1695 01:25:12,280 --> 01:25:16,600 Speaker 1: just think expectations wise though, if we're gonna look at 1696 01:25:16,640 --> 01:25:19,599 Speaker 1: them as a middle mid range team, I mean, they 1697 01:25:19,720 --> 01:25:22,120 Speaker 1: can do some things. It is a disappointing loss because 1698 01:25:22,200 --> 01:25:24,320 Speaker 1: you cannot crumble that way they had the Saints in 1699 01:25:24,439 --> 01:25:27,040 Speaker 1: Week one at home. The fact that it's the Saints, 1700 01:25:27,120 --> 01:25:29,240 Speaker 1: I mean, it's the Saints. I choked before the game. 1701 01:25:29,280 --> 01:25:31,240 Speaker 1: The fact that I didn't draft this game. It's my 1702 01:25:31,360 --> 01:25:34,080 Speaker 1: own fault. I've said it so many times on this show. 1703 01:25:34,120 --> 01:25:35,599 Speaker 1: You guys are sick of it. This is the best 1704 01:25:35,760 --> 01:25:39,120 Speaker 1: rivalry in the NFL because the fans hate each other. 1705 01:25:39,280 --> 01:25:41,680 Speaker 1: I think more than any two fan bases hate each other, 1706 01:25:41,960 --> 01:25:44,519 Speaker 1: and the game's always deliver. You might have that you 1707 01:25:44,600 --> 01:25:47,439 Speaker 1: know number eight and you know Fox team on the call, 1708 01:25:47,520 --> 01:25:49,800 Speaker 1: but who cares. This was the best game of the day, 1709 01:25:50,160 --> 01:25:54,240 Speaker 1: just just for the insanity that you score seventeen points 1710 01:25:54,520 --> 01:25:56,720 Speaker 1: in the last eleven minutes and then you have the 1711 01:25:56,800 --> 01:25:59,599 Speaker 1: Saints players Duncan on the Falcons like in their press 1712 01:25:59,640 --> 01:26:03,439 Speaker 1: cont it's like waving Falcons flags like it's a real rivalry. 1713 01:26:03,800 --> 01:26:06,519 Speaker 1: And to lose it at home in front of your 1714 01:26:06,640 --> 01:26:11,160 Speaker 1: stunned fans. It's as bad of a loss as you 1715 01:26:11,200 --> 01:26:14,640 Speaker 1: could have. And for what for Winston? I mean you 1716 01:26:14,720 --> 01:26:17,160 Speaker 1: mentioned it. In those three drives he had one in 1717 01:26:17,280 --> 01:26:20,719 Speaker 1: completion in two hundred and thirteen yards in the fourth quarter, 1718 01:26:21,400 --> 01:26:23,800 Speaker 1: he was he was like Pique Joe Montana for one 1719 01:26:23,880 --> 01:26:26,760 Speaker 1: quarter of his life work. I mean, they're they're very 1720 01:26:26,880 --> 01:26:29,680 Speaker 1: solid team. They have a good defense, and they have 1721 01:26:29,760 --> 01:26:33,000 Speaker 1: a nice running game. And these receivers. Now if this 1722 01:26:33,200 --> 01:26:35,519 Speaker 1: is Landry and Landry's gotta stay healthy. Of course that's 1723 01:26:35,560 --> 01:26:38,200 Speaker 1: been an issue. Michael Thomas of course has to stay healthy. 1724 01:26:38,840 --> 01:26:41,280 Speaker 1: But you add those guys on the field, and if 1725 01:26:41,320 --> 01:26:44,240 Speaker 1: a is a guy that's going to continue to develop. Yeah, 1726 01:26:45,320 --> 01:26:47,800 Speaker 1: Thomas was literally foaming at the mouth at one point. 1727 01:26:47,880 --> 01:26:50,040 Speaker 1: Did you see that, Mark? I think it was maybe 1728 01:26:50,120 --> 01:26:52,519 Speaker 1: after the two points. I think he might need to 1729 01:26:52,560 --> 01:26:57,240 Speaker 1: get a Raby ship. He was just so fired up 1730 01:26:57,280 --> 01:26:59,920 Speaker 1: after scoring. He had two touchdowns that and he was 1731 01:27:00,080 --> 01:27:04,760 Speaker 1: just like a guy. It was this trash talking on 1732 01:27:04,840 --> 01:27:06,679 Speaker 1: the sideline. I'm not sure to who and then spit 1733 01:27:06,880 --> 01:27:10,040 Speaker 1: was all over his own that. I think you've now 1734 01:27:10,160 --> 01:27:12,800 Speaker 1: laid out everything that could possibly because like they missed 1735 01:27:12,840 --> 01:27:15,800 Speaker 1: that intensity though, like he one thing I remember from 1736 01:27:15,840 --> 01:27:18,080 Speaker 1: that run and he was so young in it back 1737 01:27:18,120 --> 01:27:21,120 Speaker 1: in what seventeen when they probably should have won the 1738 01:27:21,160 --> 01:27:24,160 Speaker 1: Super Bowl. He was like their team leader as a 1739 01:27:24,360 --> 01:27:26,920 Speaker 1: rookie and a second year player. And so if he's healthy, 1740 01:27:26,960 --> 01:27:30,200 Speaker 1: I think he adds like a something special even beyond 1741 01:27:30,320 --> 01:27:33,559 Speaker 1: his production. I'll ask you this mark. So I think 1742 01:27:33,560 --> 01:27:35,960 Speaker 1: it's great the Cordell Patterson has a chance to, you know, 1743 01:27:36,040 --> 01:27:39,000 Speaker 1: put together another really productive season. Here has certainly started 1744 01:27:39,000 --> 01:27:42,760 Speaker 1: out well. Mariota's numbers don't look terrible, not overwhelming. Drake 1745 01:27:42,880 --> 01:27:45,160 Speaker 1: London was involved in his first game. But how is 1746 01:27:45,240 --> 01:27:47,880 Speaker 1: Kyle Pitts only have two catches for nineteen yards? I 1747 01:27:47,920 --> 01:27:51,040 Speaker 1: mean that has to be for this Mariota thing to work, 1748 01:27:51,439 --> 01:27:54,000 Speaker 1: He's got to have that chemistry with Pitts, who is 1749 01:27:54,000 --> 01:27:56,360 Speaker 1: supposed to be a guy that's putting up big numbers 1750 01:27:56,439 --> 01:27:59,280 Speaker 1: every week. Now is the answers year two? He struggled together. 1751 01:27:59,280 --> 01:28:01,640 Speaker 1: I I if that's more of a Saints matchup thing, 1752 01:28:01,720 --> 01:28:03,640 Speaker 1: because I I want to give that more time. But 1753 01:28:03,960 --> 01:28:05,559 Speaker 1: you know, this is supposed to be a matchup proof. 1754 01:28:05,880 --> 01:28:08,840 Speaker 1: I don't know, maybe you know credit to Dennis Allen 1755 01:28:08,880 --> 01:28:10,600 Speaker 1: and company. There, they took him out. I mean he 1756 01:28:10,800 --> 01:28:15,200 Speaker 1: he had seven targets into two catches. So it wasn't 1757 01:28:15,200 --> 01:28:17,320 Speaker 1: as if Mariotta totally ignored him, just it was not 1758 01:28:17,400 --> 01:28:20,280 Speaker 1: a productive day. I like Drake London made a couple 1759 01:28:20,280 --> 01:28:22,360 Speaker 1: of big plays in this too. I mean, I'm just 1760 01:28:22,400 --> 01:28:24,800 Speaker 1: saying I get what you're saying that it's the worst loss, 1761 01:28:24,840 --> 01:28:29,040 Speaker 1: but the expectations for the Falcons were like five. I 1762 01:28:29,120 --> 01:28:30,880 Speaker 1: just mean, if you're there and you're a fan, or 1763 01:28:31,479 --> 01:28:33,360 Speaker 1: it would suck, but like high that you were at 1764 01:28:33,439 --> 01:28:36,240 Speaker 1: with twelve minutes left to losing that games, I thought 1765 01:28:36,240 --> 01:28:38,160 Speaker 1: it was promising in the past rush that that we 1766 01:28:38,280 --> 01:28:43,680 Speaker 1: thought didn't even exist in Atlanta. Alright, so oh pull 1767 01:28:43,760 --> 01:28:48,080 Speaker 1: that one out, bros. The Cincinnati Zoo. They get a 1768 01:28:48,160 --> 01:28:50,200 Speaker 1: lock out of that game. You shouldn't. They should have 1769 01:28:50,240 --> 01:28:52,880 Speaker 1: to give it back, and this is it's a good 1770 01:28:52,920 --> 01:28:55,320 Speaker 1: harbinger for them though, if they can pull this out 1771 01:28:55,400 --> 01:28:58,479 Speaker 1: of it. They did a big Crystal Lave a game too, 1772 01:28:58,960 --> 01:29:03,160 Speaker 1: and he didn't have give it to him. Then he 1773 01:29:03,280 --> 01:29:06,639 Speaker 1: made a key revoked the block try next week, Crystal 1774 01:29:06,720 --> 01:29:09,320 Speaker 1: Lovey did not have a big game. I think he 1775 01:29:09,400 --> 01:29:11,720 Speaker 1: did help helps set up you know that It's like 1776 01:29:11,880 --> 01:29:14,160 Speaker 1: Mark's elaborate sandwich props. You gotta nail all of it. 1777 01:29:14,960 --> 01:29:17,240 Speaker 1: You can't leave this horse shoes. This is not a 1778 01:29:17,280 --> 01:29:21,840 Speaker 1: hand grename. All right, Let's move on to Houston. You're 1779 01:29:21,840 --> 01:29:27,880 Speaker 1: smelling upset sort of chip for blankets ship to try 1780 01:29:27,960 --> 01:29:31,439 Speaker 1: to win the game. For the Indianapolis Colts, Hawk is 1781 01:29:31,520 --> 01:29:36,719 Speaker 1: the holder, snap is down, the kick is up. It's good. 1782 01:29:37,600 --> 01:29:42,040 Speaker 1: The Texas cocked like a chip messing. That's the sound 1783 01:29:42,080 --> 01:29:49,760 Speaker 1: of that kick beering right. Don Rodrigo blakenship blanket and 1784 01:29:49,880 --> 01:29:55,080 Speaker 1: yanked it. Lego Man pushed it. Matt Ryan rallied Indianapolis 1785 01:29:55,120 --> 01:29:57,759 Speaker 1: in the fourth quarter to force overtime against the Texans 1786 01:29:57,840 --> 01:30:02,520 Speaker 1: and his Cults debut, but neither team could score in overtime. 1787 01:30:02,640 --> 01:30:06,320 Speaker 1: Both blanked in their two possessions in the extra period, 1788 01:30:07,000 --> 01:30:14,000 Speaker 1: blank and Ship, blank and yanked final Houston. Sometimes sometimes 1789 01:30:14,439 --> 01:30:17,080 Speaker 1: uh tie is a loss. Sometimes it tie feels like 1790 01:30:17,120 --> 01:30:19,720 Speaker 1: a win. If you're the Texans and Lovey Smith, you're 1791 01:30:19,800 --> 01:30:22,920 Speaker 1: up twenty to three entering the fourth quarter. But how 1792 01:30:22,960 --> 01:30:27,000 Speaker 1: about let's talk, Greggy. Let's talk Houston punting the ball 1793 01:30:27,080 --> 01:30:29,719 Speaker 1: at midfield and overtime and playing for a tie, Because 1794 01:30:30,439 --> 01:30:33,840 Speaker 1: I mean if you want listen, you hire Lovey Smith, 1795 01:30:33,920 --> 01:30:38,080 Speaker 1: You're gonna get Lovey Smith things. And we like Lovey Smith, 1796 01:30:38,479 --> 01:30:42,080 Speaker 1: but I didn't like who plays for a tie in anything? 1797 01:30:42,240 --> 01:30:45,000 Speaker 1: Really weird? Lov Smith plays for a tie? What was 1798 01:30:45,080 --> 01:30:47,920 Speaker 1: the down and distance? It wasn't like fourth and thirty six. No, 1799 01:30:48,240 --> 01:30:52,719 Speaker 1: it was fourth and three from the forty nine yard 1800 01:30:52,840 --> 01:30:59,760 Speaker 1: line with seconds. What what are we doing? Fourth and 1801 01:31:00,040 --> 01:31:03,640 Speaker 1: read from midfield? Here Here was Lovey Smith's explanation for 1802 01:31:06,080 --> 01:31:09,000 Speaker 1: white Beard. These are the announcers talking about it. Okay, 1803 01:31:09,120 --> 01:31:11,800 Speaker 1: let's hear it. I mean, if you have nothing to lose, 1804 01:31:11,840 --> 01:31:15,720 Speaker 1: if your love you here, No, they're gonna punt. I mean, 1805 01:31:15,760 --> 01:31:20,200 Speaker 1: this is playing for the tie, but but nothing a 1806 01:31:20,320 --> 01:31:25,479 Speaker 1: tie is better than what also from from beyond all 1807 01:31:25,520 --> 01:31:32,080 Speaker 1: of it than what are you telling your locker rooms saying, 1808 01:31:32,680 --> 01:31:35,040 Speaker 1: hey man, nobody thought were gonna win, and you know 1809 01:31:35,120 --> 01:31:37,320 Speaker 1: we almost won, but we didn't lose, so we're actually 1810 01:31:37,360 --> 01:31:41,960 Speaker 1: cool with a tie. Fourth and twelve, fourth and fifteen, Okay, 1811 01:31:42,120 --> 01:31:45,479 Speaker 1: I get it. Fourth and three. You're one completion away 1812 01:31:45,640 --> 01:31:47,720 Speaker 1: from being in field goal range and scoring one of 1813 01:31:47,760 --> 01:31:51,000 Speaker 1: the biggest upsets of Week one that that would stick 1814 01:31:51,040 --> 01:31:53,400 Speaker 1: to my ribs as a fan of that team and 1815 01:31:53,560 --> 01:31:57,800 Speaker 1: and he basically said, like a tie is better than 1816 01:31:57,840 --> 01:31:59,920 Speaker 1: a loss. He said, I thought a tie was better 1817 01:32:00,080 --> 01:32:03,599 Speaker 1: than a potential loss. And uh, he said, we it's 1818 01:32:03,680 --> 01:32:05,960 Speaker 1: not like he also said, in kind of throwing his 1819 01:32:06,040 --> 01:32:07,760 Speaker 1: own team under the bus, it's not like we were 1820 01:32:07,800 --> 01:32:10,280 Speaker 1: playing our best defense at the time. We were drained. 1821 01:32:10,840 --> 01:32:13,000 Speaker 1: I would have said, in love his defense, they weren't 1822 01:32:13,000 --> 01:32:15,200 Speaker 1: playing the best offense on at the time. They did 1823 01:32:15,280 --> 01:32:18,120 Speaker 1: not look like a team that was equally good to 1824 01:32:18,200 --> 01:32:20,960 Speaker 1: the Colts. They were outgained by more than two hundred yards. 1825 01:32:21,040 --> 01:32:25,240 Speaker 1: There were many, uh lucky moments for the Texans in 1826 01:32:25,360 --> 01:32:28,479 Speaker 1: this game. They made a Jerry Hughes made a great 1827 01:32:28,680 --> 01:32:32,320 Speaker 1: interception on a screenplay, but that was a little flukey, 1828 01:32:32,600 --> 01:32:36,679 Speaker 1: like Alec Pierce of the Colts dropped a wide open 1829 01:32:36,760 --> 01:32:39,600 Speaker 1: touchdown that they ended up getting no points off of 1830 01:32:39,680 --> 01:32:42,000 Speaker 1: the Colts in the first half. That the Colts Rodrigo 1831 01:32:42,080 --> 01:32:46,120 Speaker 1: Blanketship not only missed that kick, but kicked two kickoffs 1832 01:32:46,360 --> 01:32:49,519 Speaker 1: out of bounds I believe in a row, or at 1833 01:32:49,600 --> 01:32:52,200 Speaker 1: least two out of three in the second half. You 1834 01:32:52,240 --> 01:32:55,880 Speaker 1: know what the Texans did with those kids, Absolutely nothing. 1835 01:32:56,000 --> 01:32:58,120 Speaker 1: These were the Texans offense at the end of the game. 1836 01:32:58,160 --> 01:33:00,799 Speaker 1: And I think this is what Lovey might have and thinking, 1837 01:33:01,120 --> 01:33:02,880 Speaker 1: and he just didn't want to say it. He's saying, 1838 01:33:02,920 --> 01:33:05,519 Speaker 1: our defense might be tired. Uh, here was Davis Mills 1839 01:33:05,560 --> 01:33:08,559 Speaker 1: in the second half. Punt fumble, punt, punt, pun, punt, 1840 01:33:08,960 --> 01:33:13,120 Speaker 1: and Davis Mills his numbers were fine, thirty seven to 1841 01:33:13,320 --> 01:33:16,000 Speaker 1: forty for two. This was an ultimate you gotta watch 1842 01:33:16,080 --> 01:33:20,760 Speaker 1: the game performance because in key moments he was inaccurate. 1843 01:33:21,200 --> 01:33:23,280 Speaker 1: He made some bad decisions, and I know they just 1844 01:33:23,360 --> 01:33:25,200 Speaker 1: didn't all come back to haunt him, but he just 1845 01:33:25,880 --> 01:33:28,840 Speaker 1: he wasn't right, and especially down the stretch of that game, 1846 01:33:28,880 --> 01:33:31,120 Speaker 1: they were like hanging on for dear life, and I 1847 01:33:31,280 --> 01:33:33,680 Speaker 1: guess they sort of did. I just added up all 1848 01:33:33,760 --> 01:33:36,000 Speaker 1: those second half drives. You mentioned. They had seventy three 1849 01:33:36,040 --> 01:33:38,960 Speaker 1: total yards in the second half. I am not I 1850 01:33:39,040 --> 01:33:40,640 Speaker 1: don't agree with the decision at all, but I mean 1851 01:33:40,680 --> 01:33:43,600 Speaker 1: I can understand a defensive minded love you Smith not 1852 01:33:43,760 --> 01:33:47,120 Speaker 1: really trusting this offense today. He was. He was for seeing, 1853 01:33:47,160 --> 01:33:49,720 Speaker 1: let's sit down, saying you gotta make gonna go for it. 1854 01:33:49,840 --> 01:33:52,160 Speaker 1: He was seeing a situation where the worst, you know, 1855 01:33:52,280 --> 01:33:56,160 Speaker 1: a terrible game, and he knew what that loss felt 1856 01:33:56,200 --> 01:33:58,560 Speaker 1: like for a second because he was expecting black and 1857 01:33:58,600 --> 01:34:00,360 Speaker 1: Chips kick to go in. They had blown the game, 1858 01:34:00,400 --> 01:34:02,479 Speaker 1: and Frank Reich did the Mike Rabele thing. He kind 1859 01:34:02,520 --> 01:34:04,360 Speaker 1: of set up for a long blank and chip kick 1860 01:34:04,560 --> 01:34:06,920 Speaker 1: instead of keeping the pedal on the gas. There and 1861 01:34:07,520 --> 01:34:12,240 Speaker 1: a real coaching exhibition here. Um, I think you know 1862 01:34:12,840 --> 01:34:15,320 Speaker 1: what you're explaining, and I'm gonna watch us tomorrow. Like 1863 01:34:16,479 --> 01:34:19,800 Speaker 1: what Lovely Smith can't say is what he feels in 1864 01:34:19,880 --> 01:34:22,880 Speaker 1: that situation. And he didn't coach his team last year. 1865 01:34:22,920 --> 01:34:25,400 Speaker 1: He's new. His feeling is my team is not good enough. 1866 01:34:25,920 --> 01:34:28,720 Speaker 1: So I'm gonna take a tie as as a win 1867 01:34:28,920 --> 01:34:31,599 Speaker 1: for us because we're lucky to even be in this position. 1868 01:34:31,840 --> 01:34:34,000 Speaker 1: But it's just weird when it's that close and it's 1869 01:34:34,080 --> 01:34:37,960 Speaker 1: twenty two three entering the fourth quarter. It's the gutless 1870 01:34:37,960 --> 01:34:42,080 Speaker 1: move the week. It's also like that little time left, 1871 01:34:42,360 --> 01:34:44,880 Speaker 1: like all you there would be under twenty seconds to 1872 01:34:44,960 --> 01:34:47,240 Speaker 1: go for you to stop them from getting into field 1873 01:34:47,280 --> 01:34:50,519 Speaker 1: goal range. Let's let's have a little confidence. But before 1874 01:34:50,680 --> 01:34:53,240 Speaker 1: moving on quickly, though, I have to give Reich some 1875 01:34:53,439 --> 01:34:57,040 Speaker 1: credit and Jonathan Taylor even more. The Colts are the 1876 01:34:57,160 --> 01:34:59,880 Speaker 1: only team in the NFL who falls down three score 1877 01:35:00,680 --> 01:35:04,040 Speaker 1: and catches up with the running game. They stayed very 1878 01:35:04,240 --> 01:35:05,920 Speaker 1: run heavy. In fact, I thought they kind of went 1879 01:35:05,960 --> 01:35:07,640 Speaker 1: away from the run a little too much in the 1880 01:35:07,720 --> 01:35:10,680 Speaker 1: third quarter, and as they were making that comeback, it 1881 01:35:10,800 --> 01:35:13,360 Speaker 1: was almost all running. They were down three scores. They 1882 01:35:13,439 --> 01:35:16,160 Speaker 1: took a field goal early in that process to make 1883 01:35:16,240 --> 01:35:18,320 Speaker 1: it fourteen points, and I was like, oh, you're taking 1884 01:35:18,360 --> 01:35:20,519 Speaker 1: the field goal to make it fourteen And they just 1885 01:35:20,600 --> 01:35:23,040 Speaker 1: kept handing the ball off to Jonathan Taylor, who had 1886 01:35:23,160 --> 01:35:25,880 Speaker 1: thirty one carries for a hundred and sixty one yards 1887 01:35:26,240 --> 01:35:28,960 Speaker 1: and it worked even down three scores. He was the 1888 01:35:29,040 --> 01:35:31,559 Speaker 1: key to the company. So he's the man. Matt Ryan 1889 01:35:31,600 --> 01:35:34,479 Speaker 1: also threw fifty passes. It's Matt Ryan well protected behind 1890 01:35:34,479 --> 01:35:37,040 Speaker 1: this line. I kept reading that the first staff especially, 1891 01:35:37,120 --> 01:35:38,760 Speaker 1: he was under a lot of I don't like that. 1892 01:35:38,840 --> 01:35:41,080 Speaker 1: For Matt Ryan. I thought he played okay in this game. 1893 01:35:41,200 --> 01:35:43,439 Speaker 1: He was not bad. Uh the first half. He was 1894 01:35:43,520 --> 01:35:46,000 Speaker 1: under a lot of pressure. All right, Let's head towards 1895 01:35:46,040 --> 01:35:51,720 Speaker 1: our nation's capital, well near it. On the third and 1896 01:35:51,800 --> 01:36:03,760 Speaker 1: eight jacksonal break six towards to polly Kill. Talk about 1897 01:36:03,800 --> 01:36:05,840 Speaker 1: the rookie faith and he has some of the best 1898 01:36:05,920 --> 01:36:10,840 Speaker 1: hands there are London. We are saying that action Day Weinstein, 1899 01:36:11,520 --> 01:36:15,320 Speaker 1: Julie Donaldson, w B I g with the call. I'll 1900 01:36:15,360 --> 01:36:19,960 Speaker 1: tell you this, if you are a fantasy person, go 1901 01:36:20,240 --> 01:36:24,760 Speaker 1: to your waiverward. Just make sure John Dodson's not, you know, 1902 01:36:24,920 --> 01:36:27,160 Speaker 1: accounted for it. If he's not, get him on your 1903 01:36:27,200 --> 01:36:29,520 Speaker 1: roster because that guy is gonna be an instant contributor. 1904 01:36:29,800 --> 01:36:32,040 Speaker 1: Nugget was one of my nugs, one of my takeaways 1905 01:36:32,040 --> 01:36:36,120 Speaker 1: from a win for the Commanders who took command in 1906 01:36:36,200 --> 01:36:41,720 Speaker 1: Week one, beat the Jaguars and uh Carson Wentz. I'll 1907 01:36:41,720 --> 01:36:44,200 Speaker 1: tell you what. Not a perfect game, not by any stretch. 1908 01:36:44,560 --> 01:36:49,880 Speaker 1: He threw interceptions on consecutive plays, and at that point 1909 01:36:50,720 --> 01:36:54,240 Speaker 1: the Jaguars took the lead as a result of his mistakes. 1910 01:36:54,840 --> 01:36:58,479 Speaker 1: But he rebounded and he had his first four touchdown 1911 01:36:58,600 --> 01:37:02,080 Speaker 1: game since, A faithful day in his career, a faithful 1912 01:37:02,160 --> 01:37:04,120 Speaker 1: day in the history of the Philadelphia Eagles. The day 1913 01:37:04,200 --> 01:37:06,360 Speaker 1: toris a c l on his left knee while on 1914 01:37:06,439 --> 01:37:10,640 Speaker 1: that scramble in December. So does that mean like this 1915 01:37:10,800 --> 01:37:12,120 Speaker 1: is the Wents that's here now, the guy that was 1916 01:37:12,160 --> 01:37:14,080 Speaker 1: gonna win m VP that year before he blew out 1917 01:37:14,080 --> 01:37:16,679 Speaker 1: his knee. No, that he still looks like Carson Wentz 1918 01:37:17,240 --> 01:37:19,240 Speaker 1: uh to me and the good and the bad. But 1919 01:37:19,320 --> 01:37:23,479 Speaker 1: it was a reminder of Wentz, who was a punching 1920 01:37:23,560 --> 01:37:27,280 Speaker 1: bag um really for years now, but especially this summer. 1921 01:37:27,360 --> 01:37:28,560 Speaker 1: And it was kind of seen as a joke that 1922 01:37:28,680 --> 01:37:31,400 Speaker 1: Washington could even think it could work with him, that 1923 01:37:31,520 --> 01:37:34,080 Speaker 1: when Wentz is feeling it and he can get going 1924 01:37:34,240 --> 01:37:36,639 Speaker 1: and he can make plays and he can move an offense. 1925 01:37:36,760 --> 01:37:38,519 Speaker 1: And that's what he did because this was a game, 1926 01:37:39,160 --> 01:37:42,200 Speaker 1: uh mark, where the Jaguars looked like they were gonna 1927 01:37:42,880 --> 01:37:45,640 Speaker 1: take command, like they had taken the punches, they had 1928 01:37:45,680 --> 01:37:48,680 Speaker 1: said thank you Carson Wentz for these gifts, and now 1929 01:37:48,720 --> 01:37:50,639 Speaker 1: we're gonna have a huge win and we're gonna show 1930 01:37:50,720 --> 01:37:54,160 Speaker 1: that we're not the same old Jacks. No. Wentz recovered 1931 01:37:54,360 --> 01:37:57,240 Speaker 1: and so did Washington and now they're wanted decided to 1932 01:37:57,320 --> 01:38:00,600 Speaker 1: really go ahead and start well. I mean, and you 1933 01:38:00,640 --> 01:38:03,559 Speaker 1: know it, Wentz had his mistakes, and that's my thing 1934 01:38:03,600 --> 01:38:05,320 Speaker 1: with Wentz is he's going to be productive. But you're 1935 01:38:05,439 --> 01:38:10,320 Speaker 1: waiting for that killer scenario, that killer action. That's not 1936 01:38:10,439 --> 01:38:13,040 Speaker 1: a perfect quarter at all. But Trevor Lawrence, who you know, 1937 01:38:13,120 --> 01:38:15,799 Speaker 1: we all project to have a big season for the environment, 1938 01:38:15,840 --> 01:38:17,720 Speaker 1: around him. That's so much better at this point. He 1939 01:38:17,800 --> 01:38:19,720 Speaker 1: had a terrible interception at the end of this game. 1940 01:38:20,439 --> 01:38:23,160 Speaker 1: He did he did it was a I want to 1941 01:38:23,240 --> 01:38:25,200 Speaker 1: think what the down a distance was, but it wasn't 1942 01:38:25,280 --> 01:38:28,920 Speaker 1: a um situation where he needed to make the throw 1943 01:38:29,000 --> 01:38:30,479 Speaker 1: he did. He kind of threw it up for grabs 1944 01:38:30,520 --> 01:38:33,080 Speaker 1: and under threw it and that was essentially uh the 1945 01:38:33,280 --> 01:38:34,680 Speaker 1: end of the game. And this was a team that 1946 01:38:34,760 --> 01:38:39,200 Speaker 1: was last in turnover margin last year minus twenty UM, 1947 01:38:39,320 --> 01:38:41,639 Speaker 1: but they were able to force three turnovers in this game, 1948 01:38:42,240 --> 01:38:45,679 Speaker 1: two interceptions and a fumble recovery. Um. The two picks 1949 01:38:45,680 --> 01:38:48,320 Speaker 1: set up ten points, so they you know, tray Von 1950 01:38:48,400 --> 01:38:52,799 Speaker 1: Walker had a interception on a screen pass attempt by Wentz. 1951 01:38:52,880 --> 01:38:55,760 Speaker 1: He had a sack as well, so that that was 1952 01:38:55,800 --> 01:38:58,960 Speaker 1: a very good sign um. But now we need Lawrence 1953 01:38:59,040 --> 01:39:01,160 Speaker 1: to clean an up a little bit. He was flagged 1954 01:39:01,160 --> 01:39:04,240 Speaker 1: twice for intentional grounding. He had the interception that Mark 1955 01:39:04,600 --> 01:39:07,680 Speaker 1: is alluding to. So they didn't show their ability, even 1956 01:39:07,720 --> 01:39:10,280 Speaker 1: with Doug Peterson there to find a way to win 1957 01:39:10,400 --> 01:39:13,559 Speaker 1: a game. But they were right there. They they're just losing. 1958 01:39:13,640 --> 01:39:16,599 Speaker 1: Is such a habit for this team that there's all 1959 01:39:16,640 --> 01:39:18,559 Speaker 1: these players that have been around for a few years, 1960 01:39:18,600 --> 01:39:20,599 Speaker 1: and I know there's a new players. I mean, they've 1961 01:39:20,640 --> 01:39:23,519 Speaker 1: done more losing than any team in the NFL, and 1962 01:39:23,680 --> 01:39:25,560 Speaker 1: like that's in the DNA. They they're gonna have to 1963 01:39:25,680 --> 01:39:28,160 Speaker 1: change it at some point soon. But they did get 1964 01:39:28,160 --> 01:39:30,000 Speaker 1: a lot of production out of you know, Christian Kirk, 1965 01:39:30,040 --> 01:39:32,360 Speaker 1: ands A Jones there their free agent pickups and E 1966 01:39:32,479 --> 01:39:34,600 Speaker 1: t N had a decent games in Dropper at a 1967 01:39:34,640 --> 01:39:37,040 Speaker 1: decent game, did have a decent game, but he also 1968 01:39:37,160 --> 01:39:39,600 Speaker 1: dropped a fourth in gold swing pass wide open. It 1969 01:39:39,680 --> 01:39:41,680 Speaker 1: was a little high. We should have had it and 1970 01:39:41,720 --> 01:39:44,160 Speaker 1: there was right And there was another one where he 1971 01:39:44,320 --> 01:39:46,280 Speaker 1: was open for a touchdown and Lawrence missed him. So 1972 01:39:46,960 --> 01:39:50,400 Speaker 1: it's those little things that are actually big things. And 1973 01:39:50,439 --> 01:39:52,560 Speaker 1: if you're Washington fan, I mean, this is sort of 1974 01:39:52,680 --> 01:39:56,559 Speaker 1: what you drew up on paper, especially a year ago. 1975 01:39:56,640 --> 01:39:59,280 Speaker 1: But now like Curtis Samuel had a game, like he 1976 01:39:59,560 --> 01:40:02,760 Speaker 1: caught eight passes, John Dotson is in the mix, caught 1977 01:40:02,760 --> 01:40:05,480 Speaker 1: a couple of touchdowns, mccoran had one big play. Antonio 1978 01:40:05,560 --> 01:40:08,120 Speaker 1: Gibson is now the main dude again and puts up 1979 01:40:08,120 --> 01:40:10,080 Speaker 1: a hundred and thirty two yards like they have players 1980 01:40:10,160 --> 01:40:14,720 Speaker 1: around Wentz. It's just like against better teams, are those 1981 01:40:14,720 --> 01:40:16,800 Speaker 1: interceptions gonna hurt more? I mean, Graver came down and 1982 01:40:16,840 --> 01:40:19,120 Speaker 1: here I know justin you were watching this game, and 1983 01:40:19,280 --> 01:40:21,800 Speaker 1: it's like he was like, yeah, I thought Wentz played 1984 01:40:21,840 --> 01:40:24,640 Speaker 1: pretty well except for those two terrible interception. I just 1985 01:40:24,760 --> 01:40:26,679 Speaker 1: was thinking, like, how many times has that been said 1986 01:40:26,680 --> 01:40:29,440 Speaker 1: about Wentz in his career? That's that's sort of the experience. 1987 01:40:30,120 --> 01:40:33,639 Speaker 1: I will say this. I read this um somewhere after 1988 01:40:33,720 --> 01:40:35,920 Speaker 1: the game and I thought it was interesting because it 1989 01:40:36,000 --> 01:40:38,240 Speaker 1: was well, let me say what it is. So Carson 1990 01:40:38,280 --> 01:40:42,360 Speaker 1: Wentz goes to the sideline after throwing the uh second 1991 01:40:42,400 --> 01:40:46,160 Speaker 1: interception on consecutive plays, goes there and he looks at 1992 01:40:46,240 --> 01:40:50,000 Speaker 1: Ron Rivera on the sideline head coach, and Rivera says 1993 01:40:50,040 --> 01:40:53,080 Speaker 1: to him, hey, you're gonna have to win this. Wentz responded, 1994 01:40:53,160 --> 01:40:56,760 Speaker 1: I will before walking away. It's dramatic. It's a nice lead. 1995 01:40:56,840 --> 01:40:59,000 Speaker 1: But you know what else it is. It's the opposite 1996 01:40:59,040 --> 01:41:03,080 Speaker 1: of Carson Wentz is Indianapolis experience where Frank Reich had 1997 01:41:03,280 --> 01:41:06,200 Speaker 1: no confidence and especially as the season went along and 1998 01:41:06,280 --> 01:41:08,559 Speaker 1: you could see I'm thinking of that Saturday December again 1999 01:41:09,080 --> 01:41:11,360 Speaker 1: against the Patriots, or like trying to hold on for 2000 01:41:11,439 --> 01:41:13,120 Speaker 1: dear life and wouldn't even let him make a throw. 2001 01:41:13,640 --> 01:41:16,280 Speaker 1: Like if Rivera is a little outside the box and 2002 01:41:16,479 --> 01:41:19,080 Speaker 1: gives Carson wants a chance, maybe he gets some mojo 2003 01:41:19,280 --> 01:41:23,200 Speaker 1: cooking and Washington surprises people. We'll see one game in. 2004 01:41:23,520 --> 01:41:26,320 Speaker 1: It's a nice day for the Commanders. We got the 2005 01:41:26,360 --> 01:41:28,519 Speaker 1: Carson Wentz experience, and we're gonna get it again. I 2006 01:41:28,600 --> 01:41:31,200 Speaker 1: mean that, yeah, man, that's fair. But it's also a 2007 01:41:31,280 --> 01:41:34,280 Speaker 1: great example saying I will and then doing it of 2008 01:41:34,439 --> 01:41:36,720 Speaker 1: taking command kind of yeah, he's like getting ready to 2009 01:41:36,800 --> 01:41:39,160 Speaker 1: you know, kind of I will. He was alluding to 2010 01:41:39,240 --> 01:41:43,280 Speaker 1: this day. This was it was all building to this moment. 2011 01:41:44,080 --> 01:41:46,040 Speaker 1: All right. We got one more game, Sunday night football. 2012 01:41:46,080 --> 01:41:49,040 Speaker 1: We sent Greg home not feeling well, but we got 2013 01:41:49,120 --> 01:41:51,880 Speaker 1: some business to get to from Jaral World. A bad 2014 01:41:52,000 --> 01:41:59,600 Speaker 1: night at Jaral World for the home team. First of 2015 01:41:59,680 --> 01:42:10,080 Speaker 1: go for fun, yes, sir, touchdown Tom Brady to Mike 2016 01:42:10,160 --> 01:42:13,160 Speaker 1: Evans like old times. It was the only touchdown of 2017 01:42:13,200 --> 01:42:15,439 Speaker 1: the game, but throwing a few more field goals and 2018 01:42:15,479 --> 01:42:17,720 Speaker 1: it was more than enough for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 2019 01:42:18,200 --> 01:42:20,600 Speaker 1: but begin their season on a winning note nineteen to 2020 01:42:20,840 --> 01:42:25,200 Speaker 1: three over the Cowboys. And if you're the Cowboys or 2021 01:42:25,280 --> 01:42:29,840 Speaker 1: Cowboys fan, this could not have been worse. Dak Prescott 2022 01:42:29,920 --> 01:42:35,400 Speaker 1: fourteen and thirty four yards, no touchdowns, an interception, bangs 2023 01:42:35,520 --> 01:42:39,080 Speaker 1: his hand uh during a pass rush um by the 2024 01:42:39,160 --> 01:42:43,519 Speaker 1: Bucks late in the game, X rays and the worst 2025 01:42:43,600 --> 01:42:46,920 Speaker 1: news the Cowboys could get he needs surgery for an 2026 01:42:46,960 --> 01:42:49,920 Speaker 1: injury in the joint above the thumb of his right hand. 2027 01:42:50,080 --> 01:42:53,320 Speaker 1: Jerry Jones, team owner, tells reporters shortly after the game, 2028 01:42:53,400 --> 01:42:56,080 Speaker 1: He's going to be out several weeks. So Mark not 2029 01:42:56,280 --> 01:42:58,439 Speaker 1: only and we'll get to the Bucks, but I think 2030 01:42:58,479 --> 01:43:01,080 Speaker 1: the Cowboys of the story coming out of this game, 2031 01:43:01,160 --> 01:43:04,200 Speaker 1: not only do you no show uh in your opener 2032 01:43:04,320 --> 01:43:07,360 Speaker 1: at home, you now lose your quarterback. And when you 2033 01:43:07,680 --> 01:43:11,200 Speaker 1: combine those two things, it paints a very ominous picture 2034 01:43:11,600 --> 01:43:15,439 Speaker 1: of the Cowboys near and potentially long term future this season. Well, 2035 01:43:15,479 --> 01:43:18,080 Speaker 1: even before this happened, the energy around this team tonight, 2036 01:43:18,120 --> 01:43:21,120 Speaker 1: their performance on offense, what was lacking, what was missing 2037 01:43:21,200 --> 01:43:25,040 Speaker 1: what we thought would be missing, which was wide receiver strength, depth, 2038 01:43:25,360 --> 01:43:27,720 Speaker 1: and it was they cannot win on the outside. And 2039 01:43:28,000 --> 01:43:30,920 Speaker 1: even before Dak Prescott was injured, this was not the 2040 01:43:31,000 --> 01:43:33,519 Speaker 1: Dak Prescott were used to seeing. This might have been 2041 01:43:33,560 --> 01:43:36,600 Speaker 1: one of his worst games that I can recall, and 2042 01:43:37,000 --> 01:43:38,800 Speaker 1: there were moments where he just was out of sync. 2043 01:43:39,040 --> 01:43:41,200 Speaker 1: We're talking about guys like Ceedee Lamon need to step up. 2044 01:43:41,240 --> 01:43:43,439 Speaker 1: It's just not the case tonight. And so the offense 2045 01:43:43,479 --> 01:43:45,600 Speaker 1: looked lacking. And what is even more concerning because I 2046 01:43:45,640 --> 01:43:48,599 Speaker 1: don't know how long he'll be gone, obviously, but they've 2047 01:43:48,640 --> 01:43:51,200 Speaker 1: got the Bengals, then the Giants, who look a little 2048 01:43:51,200 --> 01:43:54,080 Speaker 1: spicy right now, then Washington, and then if it goes 2049 01:43:54,120 --> 01:43:57,080 Speaker 1: on beyond that, the Rams and Eagles, and what I 2050 01:43:57,360 --> 01:43:59,920 Speaker 1: think what we've seen from Cooper Rush tells you Cooper 2051 01:44:00,040 --> 01:44:02,320 Speaker 1: Rush is not adequate to come in and win games, 2052 01:44:02,439 --> 01:44:04,760 Speaker 1: and he was. He was a big mess tonight. Yeah, 2053 01:44:04,800 --> 01:44:07,320 Speaker 1: we need to know more about how long that's going 2054 01:44:07,360 --> 01:44:09,080 Speaker 1: to be out, but it sounds like this is not 2055 01:44:09,160 --> 01:44:12,200 Speaker 1: going to be something. It might be October, who knows, 2056 01:44:12,320 --> 01:44:15,280 Speaker 1: but it's it's a situation that this season is in 2057 01:44:15,439 --> 01:44:18,200 Speaker 1: deep trouble immediately for the Cowboys. I don't think that's 2058 01:44:18,200 --> 01:44:21,439 Speaker 1: an overreaction. And you're right, Dak Prescott before he went 2059 01:44:21,479 --> 01:44:24,439 Speaker 1: out was not having a good game, and Ceedee Lamb 2060 01:44:24,840 --> 01:44:27,400 Speaker 1: he had a bad game. And these are two very 2061 01:44:27,479 --> 01:44:30,640 Speaker 1: good players that need to be great for the Cowboys 2062 01:44:30,760 --> 01:44:33,440 Speaker 1: to win this division and get back to the playoffs. 2063 01:44:34,200 --> 01:44:38,000 Speaker 1: And one night only neither played well and now one's 2064 01:44:38,040 --> 01:44:40,000 Speaker 1: on the shelf, and it's the most important guy to 2065 01:44:40,160 --> 01:44:42,360 Speaker 1: the team, and so you have to keep an eye 2066 01:44:42,439 --> 01:44:45,200 Speaker 1: on how the Cowboys handled this because he had Cooper 2067 01:44:45,280 --> 01:44:47,879 Speaker 1: Rush is not one of the better backups in football, 2068 01:44:48,320 --> 01:44:51,000 Speaker 1: and this could be, this could be the recipe. Let's 2069 01:44:51,040 --> 01:44:53,439 Speaker 1: be honest, for one of those oh and three one 2070 01:44:53,520 --> 01:44:56,120 Speaker 1: in five type starts and all of a sudden, it's 2071 01:44:56,120 --> 01:44:59,280 Speaker 1: all over for Dallas. So that that's a devastating setback 2072 01:44:59,600 --> 01:45:01,400 Speaker 1: for the team, both from a game and from a 2073 01:45:01,439 --> 01:45:03,400 Speaker 1: long term respect with dak Out on the on the 2074 01:45:03,439 --> 01:45:07,040 Speaker 1: buck side, you know, I thought, even though the scoreboard 2075 01:45:07,640 --> 01:45:10,720 Speaker 1: doesn't tell the story of an exciting game nineteen to three, 2076 01:45:10,760 --> 01:45:13,040 Speaker 1: they only had one touchdown, but they also didn't punt 2077 01:45:13,479 --> 01:45:16,120 Speaker 1: until late in the third quarter. They controlled the flow. 2078 01:45:16,240 --> 01:45:18,960 Speaker 1: Leonard Fournette looked great running for a hundred and twenty 2079 01:45:19,000 --> 01:45:21,680 Speaker 1: seven yards on six yards to carry. Mike Evans did 2080 01:45:21,760 --> 01:45:25,840 Speaker 1: Mike Evans things. Julio Jones. I know, the thing with 2081 01:45:25,960 --> 01:45:27,439 Speaker 1: him is you can't just view him as, oh, this 2082 01:45:27,560 --> 01:45:29,839 Speaker 1: is who he's gonna be because he can't stay healthy anymore. 2083 01:45:30,240 --> 01:45:32,800 Speaker 1: But this version of Julio Jones still looks explosive and 2084 01:45:32,840 --> 01:45:34,920 Speaker 1: could be a big time guy for the Bucks. Yeah. 2085 01:45:34,920 --> 01:45:36,800 Speaker 1: I mean they had a Tom Brady. Best throw of 2086 01:45:36,800 --> 01:45:39,479 Speaker 1: the night was that forty eight yard shot to Julio Jones. 2087 01:45:39,720 --> 01:45:43,200 Speaker 1: Great catch, great catch, great throw. There's chemistries are using him. 2088 01:45:43,240 --> 01:45:45,640 Speaker 1: He had two sweeps as well, So I liked the 2089 01:45:45,720 --> 01:45:49,439 Speaker 1: Julio Jones fit in this. They did lose Donovan Smith, 2090 01:45:49,479 --> 01:45:52,519 Speaker 1: their tackle. Chris Godwin came in and then left the 2091 01:45:52,560 --> 01:45:56,599 Speaker 1: game as well, and it was elo for Donovan Smith, 2092 01:45:56,640 --> 01:45:58,720 Speaker 1: and we'll see, we'll know more about that. So both 2093 01:45:58,800 --> 01:46:01,920 Speaker 1: of these teams cannot use anyone else along the offensive line. 2094 01:46:01,960 --> 01:46:05,599 Speaker 1: And the Cowboys also lost Connor McGovern and Terrence Steele 2095 01:46:05,680 --> 01:46:08,519 Speaker 1: operates as a penalty machine. So I just see concern 2096 01:46:08,640 --> 01:46:11,120 Speaker 1: all all over the place for the Cowboys when it 2097 01:46:11,160 --> 01:46:15,240 Speaker 1: comes to Tampa Bay. You know, they they looked more powerful. Obviously, 2098 01:46:15,400 --> 01:46:17,400 Speaker 1: was not the most watchable game on the planet, but 2099 01:46:17,640 --> 01:46:19,680 Speaker 1: I'm not leaving with much concern. I think there's still 2100 01:46:19,760 --> 01:46:21,840 Speaker 1: the Bucks, the same Bucks were used to Yeah, and 2101 01:46:21,880 --> 01:46:24,160 Speaker 1: I think and obviously Bruce arians is upstairs now he 2102 01:46:24,240 --> 01:46:27,320 Speaker 1: so Himan literally wearing like a Hawaiian shirt. While he's 2103 01:46:27,400 --> 01:46:31,879 Speaker 1: he's cellnically working, he's acknowledging on the telecast and interviews. 2104 01:46:31,920 --> 01:46:33,600 Speaker 1: Oh yeah, golf two or three times a week. This 2105 01:46:33,680 --> 01:46:35,840 Speaker 1: is a very nice job for Bruce Arians and it's 2106 01:46:35,840 --> 01:46:38,320 Speaker 1: a nice job for Todd Bowls because this team. You 2107 01:46:38,400 --> 01:46:41,840 Speaker 1: could see the way the defense swarmed, and that's another 2108 01:46:41,880 --> 01:46:44,120 Speaker 1: issue with Dallas. The offensive line, which we talked about 2109 01:46:44,200 --> 01:46:47,000 Speaker 1: during the summer, did not look good. They were overmatched 2110 01:46:47,040 --> 01:46:49,960 Speaker 1: in this game. So the Tampa Bay defense looked excellent 2111 01:46:50,040 --> 01:46:52,920 Speaker 1: in this game. And Brady is going to have bigger 2112 01:46:52,920 --> 01:46:55,200 Speaker 1: statistical days, but I didn't see anything to be concerned 2113 01:46:55,200 --> 01:46:57,000 Speaker 1: about him. It's been a kind of a funky, weird 2114 01:46:57,240 --> 01:47:00,080 Speaker 1: offseason for him. I think it's all systems go for 2115 01:47:00,160 --> 01:47:02,439 Speaker 1: the Bucks to uh to, you know, and you know 2116 01:47:02,479 --> 01:47:05,240 Speaker 1: what it's about with Tampa Bay at this point. Stay 2117 01:47:05,320 --> 01:47:08,839 Speaker 1: healthy enough and then win. You're ten, eleven, twelve, thirteen 2118 01:47:08,920 --> 01:47:11,240 Speaker 1: games and see what happens in January.
