Joe Biden and his 0:03:47.640 --> 0:03:51.440 speech talked about the fact that, you know, three decades ago, 0:03:51.640 --> 0:03:55.640 pell grants used to cover eighty percent, eighty percent of 0:03:55.680 --> 0:04:01.080 the cost of your tuition. Now it covers thirty percent 0:04:01.480 --> 0:04:06.880 if you're lucky. And this is for state, right state universities. 0:04:07.520 --> 0:04:13.080 And the amount of debt that young people and families 0:04:13.120 --> 0:04:16.760 are being forced to take on an order to be 0:04:16.880 --> 0:04:20.760 able to get an education that then supposedly is going 0:04:20.839 --> 0:04:24.440 to move them up the economic ladder just doesn't even 0:04:24.480 --> 0:04:29.920 make any sense. Biden announced that he will forgive 0:06:50.680 --> 0:06:54.280 ten thousand dollars in federal student loan debt for most borrowers, 0:06:54.400 --> 0:06:57.880 delivering financial relief to millions of Americans. This is According 0:06:57.880 --> 0:07:02.160 to CNBC, Biden will cancel up to twenty thousand for 0:07:02.320 --> 0:07:06.400 recipients of PELL grants. At least nine million borrowers could 0:07:06.480 --> 0:07:11.600 have their balances entirely wiped out with Biden's plan the 0:07:11.760 --> 0:07:14.239 relief and this is how it will work. The relief 0:07:14.480 --> 0:07:18.120 will be limited two Americans earning under one hundred and 0:07:18.200 --> 0:07:21.600 twenty five thousand dollars per year or two hundred and 0:07:21.600 --> 0:07:24.920 fifty thousand dollars for married couples or heads of household. 0:07:25.280 --> 0:07:27.920 The relief is also capped at the amount of a 0:07:27.960 --> 0:07:33.680 borrower's outstanding eligible debt per the Education Department. They are saying through December 0:07:41.720 --> 0:07:45.800 thirty first, twenty twenty two. We have not 0:09:38.280 --> 0:09:43.000 since then made any type of significant investment into education, 0:09:43.080 --> 0:09:47.600 and yet we constantly talk about global competitiveness and how 0:09:47.640 --> 0:09:51.480 does that even make sense once again to Republicans in 0:09:51.520 --> 0:09:54.800 these Republican red states that are saying that they don't 0:09:54.800 --> 0:09:57.360 really give a shit about your child's education, they don't 0:09:57.360 --> 0:10:01.640 care about investing, or what they want to do is 0:10:01.720 --> 0:10:04.880 just lower standards or wipe them out altogether, or wipe 0:10:04.880 --> 0:10:10.240 out public education altogether in favor of Catholic universities, Christian universities, 0:10:10.800 --> 0:10:15.240 or charter schools that don't have to again align right 0:10:16.040 --> 0:10:22.000 with the public education requirements.
