00:00:00 Speaker 1: Hello, listener. It was supposed to be a repeat episode this week, and I said, no again, my heart is just so generous. Let's unlock a Patreon episode. So here is one for you to listen to. I absolutely love this episode, and don't forget. You can come to patreon dot com slash. I said, no gifts to get more content like this, here we go. 00:00:28 Speaker 2: Hell, I invited you here, gonna made myself perfectly clear, But you're a guest to my home. You gotta come to me empty And I said, no, guests, your presences presents enough. I already had too much stuff, So how do you dare. 00:00:55 Speaker 3: To surbey me? 00:01:07 Speaker 1: Welcome to I said, no gifts. I'm Bridger Wineger. We're here in the backyard. We're here in Patreon world. You've made it over the paywall as usual. What's going on my life? I was gone for four days. I was in Utah. And the way things are falling apart, the way I'm falling behind, it's unreal. And what do I mean? What do I have to do? I have to watch the Little House on the Prairie. No one even expects me to do that, but it feels like I'm unraveling quickly. So that's kind of where I am. I what else is going on? Almost nothing. I had a lot of garlic last night, and I think that kind of brings us to today, which is exciting. I truly just adore today's guest. She's incredible. It's Katie Fisher. 00:01:59 Speaker 3: Thank you so much for having me Bridger, Katie. 00:02:02 Speaker 1: I mean, I couldn't think. There's a very short list of people I would rather. I mean that I've what am I trying to say here? You're in a short list of people that are like top priority. 00:02:12 Speaker 3: To be on this Come come on, you've stopped it. 00:02:14 Speaker 1: I've you're somebody, and I feel like you must have this experience with a lot of people where it just feels like I think we've known each other for maybe a year and a half, right, yeah, but it feels like you've just always been in my life. 00:02:26 Speaker 3: That is so kind, and I feel exactly the same way about you. I felt, you know, I felt like a little well you know, I think you give off a vibe I would have picked up if this was not the correct interpretation of our relationship. But the moment we met, I was like, Okay, I really like this person. And then every time I would see you at a party, which is like I feel like when we're most often getting into each other some sort of birthday thing, I immediately be lying to. 00:02:53 Speaker 1: You, Oh, you're such a safe harbor at a party. 00:02:56 Speaker 3: That is exactly how I feel, because I think we're the same in the sense that, well, you seem no offense overwhelmed parties. 00:03:06 Speaker 1: I think that's an enormous understanding. I'm like, I walk in the door and I'm like, already you turning back to my car. I've had enough, you know. 00:03:14 Speaker 3: And I guess now that I think about most times that we've talked at parties, it's you have your book bag and you're out, you are actively leaving, and then I sort of grab you from the debts and I pull you back into the vortex because I want to leave but I can yet, And then I make you talk to me for twenty minutes. 00:03:33 Speaker 1: You're kind of a cheat at parties for me then to extend it's like a free life or I'm like, here's someone I actually want to speak to, and I won't be exhausted talking to them, so it makes me seem like I'm at the party for a while. 00:03:45 Speaker 3: But we're actually like so on the far out, we're by the exit, right, but still one foot in the party, one foot out. 00:03:54 Speaker 1: When you say you can't leave the party, is that just because you have social grace? 00:03:58 Speaker 3: And I, well, no, I guess it's because more often than not I'm there with Luke. 00:04:06 Speaker 1: Sure is like mister talk right, He's I mean, such a He's another person who's so easy to talk. 00:04:12 Speaker 3: He's so wonderful. My boyfriend is a He's a professional talker. He also has a podcast. He also does like a live shows where he interview views people and whatever on Twitch. 00:04:26 Speaker 1: A wonderful Twitch show. 00:04:27 Speaker 3: Wonderful Twitch show. And so he has the gift of gab. And I would say I do as well, but not to the degree that he does, where I think that more often than not, I'm in my head right, you know what I mean, where I'm just sort of like, okay, am I talking too much? Am I? 00:04:45 Speaker 1: Like? 00:04:45 Speaker 3: For example, literally yesterday I did a podcast. This is not normal for me, and I left freaking out feeling like, oh no, do I talk too much? 00:04:54 Speaker 1: But it's like it's a podcast, of course, that's the job, main job of the podcast. 00:04:58 Speaker 3: I did my job, but I was like, am I a monster? Did I monologue? 00:05:02 Speaker 1: I mean I've run into people on I won't say what podcasts, but on a podcast where I've thought, oh, that person person should stop talking. 00:05:10 Speaker 3: See that. 00:05:11 Speaker 1: I can't imagine you're that person. I hope not, but I feel like, yeah, our relationships are similar where Jim my boyfriend will he doesn't live in his head. Yes, and sometimes I'm like maybe a little bit, I've been there and just think about what's going. 00:05:25 Speaker 3: Take a step in, Yeah, come on, let's close that door just a touch, right. 00:05:29 Speaker 1: But Luke has a slight and this is not a slight on him, but a party boys to him like to have a good time. Yes, So I feel like I'm so jealous of that. I know. 00:05:38 Speaker 3: And he has sort of like a he's not a jock, but the first time I met him, I thought that he was like a like a power alpha. 00:05:45 Speaker 1: Yeah, but he's like a sturdy guy. 00:05:47 Speaker 3: He's a sturdy guy. He's like barrel chested, and he has like a big booming voice that marries and he's very confident. And so you see that and you're like, okay, well that's like a. 00:05:57 Speaker 1: Guy who led a frat right on paper, someone I should not like exactly and I adore. 00:06:02 Speaker 3: Yeah, and he's like the biggest sweet pea in the entire world. Couldn't be more opposite, you know, like likes anime, etcetera. You know what I like is so not that guy. But at a party, he really cleans up. He really mops the floor at a party because he's just so easy. And I think that I, you know, also at a party. Well, I think part of the reason why we get along so well is like I think it's like, well. 00:06:25 Speaker 1: I excel one on one right, Yes, I mean that's why a party to me is a little bit of a waste of time, yeah, because I'm like, well, I would rather just go out to dinner with every one of these people, no exactly. 00:06:36 Speaker 3: And instead it's like I feel like I'm in this like bit circus where you get like this like bit tornado where you keep running into people and you're like oh, and then it's like for fifteen seconds each you get kind of locked and and then everyone has the same sort of fear in their eyes because everyone's. 00:06:52 Speaker 1: Oh yeah everyone, and everyone has the same nerosi. 00:06:56 Speaker 3: You know, and it's like I feel like I'm in a conversation for five minutes. I say, I have to go to the bathroom. I don't. 00:07:01 Speaker 1: Oh my god, the people think I have a uti or something like. Something is going on with this man's bless something is really he just told me he just had to go to the bathroom ten times over the last half hour. 00:07:12 Speaker 3: You guys have to start a GoFundMe. Richard's really unwell. 00:07:17 Speaker 1: He's destroying our toilets. 00:07:18 Speaker 3: Oh no, it's flooding you guys. Yeah, well, I am so glad you feel that way. I feel the exact same way about you. What a delight that is, because sometimes you think that you have found that person and actually you're being a terrorist. 00:07:32 Speaker 1: Oh my god, Yes, And I mean I've felt that a way about you, Like I'm like, what if she's just like tolerating? Oh no, here he comes again. Not a single party. I can have any peace that wretched redheaded man keeps finding me. 00:07:46 Speaker 3: Oh no, all I want to do is hanging out with my sweet boyfriend with his beautiful gift of gas. I just want to be in the throes of this party. 00:07:56 Speaker 1: Oh no, m yeah, it's a yeah, what a what a blessed say? I'm so go ahead No, you go ahead. You're the guest I get to call. I called the shots on the guests. Okay, that's how social interactions were. 00:08:10 Speaker 3: Wait, okay, well I was. I got excited and I meant to, uh comment on your intro because you mentioned Little House on the Prairier. 00:08:20 Speaker 1: Oh wait, are you go ahead? 00:08:22 Speaker 3: Well, it's not that I'm familiar in it. 00:08:23 Speaker 1: Okay, what if I ended it there? So I had some thoughts on your intro, I'd have nothing to say about it. 00:08:30 Speaker 3: They interrupt you to say that, Okay, it's just that I you said you brought it up in the sense that did you mean that you you went to uha Utah? You haw? You went to Utah and then you said you weren't doing well and so you turned to Little House on the Prairie and the comfort. 00:08:50 Speaker 1: No, so what the cases we've I've been I've been watching Little House on the Prairie for the first time. Oh and I feel like since I started talking about it on this podcast, a lot of listeners are like, I'm on season seven, episode fifty, and I'm like, I'm still halfway through season one. Wow, the slow the pace that we watched TV in this household is ridiculous. 00:09:10 Speaker 3: What do you say? 00:09:11 Speaker 1: What? Like? What? 00:09:12 Speaker 3: How often are you returning to something one a night? Okay, that's normal though, I guess. 00:09:18 Speaker 1: But I feel like I know a lot of people who are like, I've watched four in a row, and I just this show in particular is very slow. Yeah, and kind of nothing ever happens, and Jim is asleep about halfway through each show, so it takes forever. But in missing four days while being in Utah, I feel like now I've fallen behind on another thing. Yeah, absolutely, and it's that show obviously has ended in I think nineteen eighty two, so I don't know that it matters that. 00:09:46 Speaker 3: Spoil over. Yeah, I've never watched a peep of it. Do you Is it something that you like confidently recommend to people or is it kind of really it's. 00:09:56 Speaker 1: It's so fascinating. It's so like innocent and sweet and low steaks in so many ways, sometimes a little too Christian. Sure it gets into some where it's like, oh this was on network TV, and they're like, totally, Laura is like climbing a mountain to talk to God. 00:10:14 Speaker 3: Okay, yeah, so it's not just a little it's like. 00:10:17 Speaker 1: Kind of Yeah, there episodes where it's full like what is happening? Pretty heavy handed, and then she meets it like an angel on the top of the mountain who also looks like kind of just like a miner who lives it's sort of thing as a kid. If I had watched it, I'd be like, that's scary. That's to meet a strange man in the mountains. 00:10:33 Speaker 3: I thought you meant like a person under age. 00:10:39 Speaker 1: She meets a guy who can't drink or drive, but he's holy, he's very close to God. 00:10:47 Speaker 3: What would you rather see gun to your head? An underaged angel, Angel that has worked in the mines. 00:10:58 Speaker 1: Angel who's worked in the mines. You see an angel who's gotten his hands sturdy, Yeah, who's seen the tough times. 00:11:04 Speaker 2: Yeah. 00:11:04 Speaker 1: It isn't just you know, wings and a harp, right, I mean angel? Yeah, an angel. I feel like we need a rougher brand of angels. I think that's really nice. Yeah, you want an angel with the experience, Yeah, a bit like a kid. Angel is going to be precocious, totally irritating. I guess like then we're wondering, like when did you die? Yeah, it's tough, which is a tragic tough. Our angels, now this is a question and I probably should know the answer to this, but our angels former humans who died, or they their own breed of heavenly. 00:11:34 Speaker 3: Creature, like yeah, sort of like a like a unicorner like right. 00:11:39 Speaker 1: They never like we're never a person. They just like God created them as his own arm. 00:11:44 Speaker 3: I think it absolutely is a person that died, because then it's like, what are you talking about when you're like God gained another angel? 00:11:50 Speaker 1: Oh that's right, yeah, phrase yeah, okay, right. 00:11:54 Speaker 3: Unless it's like something yeah, because it's like what if it's what you proposed? It's like God gained another angel? Is like when someone happens to die here, something really freaky happens there where like a cloud starts like pulsating, and then like a hand starts sticking, and everyone starts screaming, and then you know, and then you know, and then it forms into a person. There's wings, they're screaming, and they're so wet. They're so wet, and it's good. 00:12:24 Speaker 1: It's like a bird coming out of an egg. 00:12:25 Speaker 3: Yeah, and then God has to feed it the yeah yeah, yeah, God it's costs throwing up in its mouth and then it eventually becomes a person, and then it gains the harp, and the harp represents how many times it's gotten thrown up in its mouth, like how much nutrients each string on the harp is how many times it's happened. 00:12:44 Speaker 1: Why are birds the only creature who throws up into the baby's mouth? 00:12:48 Speaker 3: Because it's like, what else. 00:12:49 Speaker 1: Are they gonna do? That's what every stret should do, regurgitation. What do you mean humans should be doing that? 00:12:58 Speaker 3: Well, wait a second, wait a second, because I think that's actually untrue. 00:13:04 Speaker 1: I think, hold on, oh boy, here we go. I have you know what. I was a child of animal planting, Miss Zoo encyclopes, little miss. 00:13:12 Speaker 3: Little miss mammal coming in. I I do think that there are certain like I don't want to say coyote with full confidence, but I want to say, like a coyote, like interesting is bringing food back to their young and at least chewing it. 00:13:29 Speaker 1: Right, pre chewing, pre chewing kind of like a parent, like cutting up the hot dog on a plate. 00:13:33 Speaker 3: One hundred percent doing sort of like a beanie weenie. Yeah, I do think that, Like, yeah, I think it's like maybe a raccoon situation or like, I think that is that is part of it. 00:13:43 Speaker 1: I can see a raccoon like ripping up bread. 00:13:46 Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, making like a panzanella. 00:13:49 Speaker 1: Yeah. 00:13:51 Speaker 3: I'm not into a panzanella me neither. I'm kind of like I wish it was just bread, and I wish it was just selling. 00:13:57 Speaker 1: Yeah, it's the two. It's like, well, we've just ruined both of these things in such an incredible way. 00:14:01 Speaker 3: I completely agree. And I also feel like every time I see it, I'm like, I can feel what it's going to be like putting you know where. It's like I can feel my mouth being ripped to sheds by the toasted bread points, you know what I mean. Trying to have a conversation. 00:14:16 Speaker 1: It makes no sense. 00:14:17 Speaker 3: I can't handle it. What's your favorite salad? 00:14:19 Speaker 1: My favorite salad? Cob? 00:14:21 Speaker 3: Oh? You didn't hesitate? 00:14:23 Speaker 1: Oh? I love a cob set. Have you had a Clark Street diner? 00:14:26 Speaker 3: Not in a long time? 00:14:27 Speaker 1: It they're cob salad. I could eat that three meals a day, Oh my god. Although it takes like four hours. I call it the four hour salad because it's just your working through it takes. And this is a secret, this is something I've learned recently a great power move at any dining situation, if you order the salad, you are now in control of the speed of the meal. That's so real because the other person, if they didn't get a salad, they'll be done a tenth of the way through your salad. 00:14:53 Speaker 3: Sandwich is like ten bytes. 00:14:54 Speaker 1: Oh yeah, yeah, salad is minimum three hundred and fifty bytes. 00:14:58 Speaker 3: I completely agree. Also, like what's what's going on? Like what's the fork keft? 00:15:04 Speaker 1: You know? 00:15:04 Speaker 3: Are you doing like a dainty pee here and there? Like a chickpea stab here and there? Yeah? I completely agree. You know who has a fantastic socept that I've been really obsessed with recently. I found it and I said, I'm never letting this go. 00:15:16 Speaker 1: Jata on uh oh on York York. 00:15:20 Speaker 3: The chicken kale salad. Can I break it down? 00:15:23 Speaker 1: Please? I would love to know because I have questions. I have a whole Jata discussion to have after this. 00:15:28 Speaker 3: Absolutely Okay, it's like a you know, shredded massaged kale. 00:15:32 Speaker 1: So it's not yet dry. 00:15:34 Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean it's like yeah yeah, but it's like it's like it. 00:15:38 Speaker 1: Does have to massage, you have to massage. 00:15:40 Speaker 3: I'm just doing this until this is. 00:15:42 Speaker 1: My big complain about sweet Green. I don't think they massage their kale. And then it feels like you're eating just like roughie. 00:15:47 Speaker 3: Yeah, I agree. So this is like not that they've done it right. Really nice moist grilled chicken that's sliced, which I. 00:15:56 Speaker 1: Always am like, that's a tough thing to do, Oh my god, because if when you slice it up, clock is sticking yep, and. 00:16:01 Speaker 3: It's it's they don't mess around. It's really nicely charred, really nicely seasoned, really okay. And then you've got something that I forget is so wonderful in a salad, but deeply toasted. 00:16:12 Speaker 1: Pine nuts, Oh fantastic. Oh my god, such an easy addition. 00:16:17 Speaker 3: Easy and you're like, this feels so like special all of a sudden. 00:16:21 Speaker 1: And easy to distribute through a salad. 00:16:23 Speaker 3: No, exactly, it's so great. It's like, yeah, it doesn't like become like one horrible right right. Yeah. And then it's just like really good cheese like I think, you know, like a palm or whatever, and everything's like really beautifully coated in the palm. And then they have I'm forgetting some stuff. I assume there's like chickpea. Oh there's a lot of like avocado. 00:16:41 Speaker 1: Ok, this is my dream salad and that's what I'm saying. 00:16:44 Speaker 3: And then I'm almost done. The dressing is like a gorgeous like lemony sort of cheese, oh vinaigrette. 00:16:54 Speaker 1: That I might get this for dinner. 00:16:55 Speaker 3: It's so great. If you do, please let me know. 00:16:58 Speaker 1: I will because I've been to John and for the listener, Uh who's not based in Los Angeles? Again, Wait, but Katie did give you all the ingredients to make the salad. Yes, so stop complaining and get making. So you know what? 00:17:11 Speaker 3: Shut up? 00:17:12 Speaker 1: Toss it up, baby baby? What was I? Oh, I've been to Jatta is spelled gg I t A, which is mildly confusing. I'm not quite sure how that works. G G I A t A Okay what did I say? 00:17:27 Speaker 3: I T A Oh I A t A yeah, okay, yeah, I'm sorry. 00:17:33 Speaker 2: What is that? 00:17:33 Speaker 3: What is I don't know what the yeah, I don't know what the double G is. 00:17:38 Speaker 1: Yeah, I could have done without. I don't know that anyone needed. Yeah, but it's a little sandwich salad place. But I've only ever this is my fault ordered raps. But because and I will defend myself. The first one I had sounded incredible, and I've had so a real success with a buffalo chicken wrap in other place. Oh right, Yeah, it's almost always a surefire hit. 00:18:03 Speaker 3: Totally not a jotna. That doesn't surprise me. 00:18:07 Speaker 1: Then I had a Caesar wrap Chicken Caesar wrap. Again, I feel like you can order that at a theme park and have a good version of totally didn't work. Really, I feel like they underdressed it. I think with a wrap you really need to just dump as much dressing as the pole. 00:18:21 Speaker 3: It's really not about anything other. 00:18:23 Speaker 1: Than no, it should be essentially a burrito in like moisture left you need the foil to catch, yes, absolutely, it should be getting soggy while eating, yeah, absolutely so. But now the salad is basically that without the dry tortilla. Totally, so that will be my next move there. 00:18:42 Speaker 3: You gotta do the salad. The sandwich is really good, but it is kind of a nightmare right where it's like, I'm not really a giant sandwich in the middle of the day. 00:18:51 Speaker 1: No, that's a dinner. 00:18:52 Speaker 3: That's a dinner, and I like, I totally agree. I did it the other day to like to like fit in. 00:19:02 Speaker 1: Our peer pressured. 00:19:03 Speaker 3: It was fear pressured into a big, delicious sandwich where I was just like working with a bunch of people and we all went to Bubb and Grandma's on others songs. 00:19:10 Speaker 1: Oh I had their meat loaft sandwich the other day. Oh my god, that thing is nine pounds and I ate the entire thing. 00:19:17 Speaker 3: That's what I'm saying. 00:19:18 Speaker 1: Delicious, It's so fabulous. 00:19:20 Speaker 3: I had the brisket for the first time. 00:19:21 Speaker 1: Oh with the apples. 00:19:23 Speaker 3: I hadn't, and I'd been, I'd been, I'd been avoiding it. It's like, this seems like a big mess, and it is. It's sort of a big, horrible mess, and it's and it's sort of a big mess on the tummy, it's a big mess on the plate, in the hands. But again, I was like with a bunch of fellas working and they were like, let's go to Bulbs. And then I was like, yeah, I guess I'll get a big sandwich. And it truly was like in the middle of eating, it's like it was so wonderful, but it was. 00:19:47 Speaker 1: Like it's noon, so yeah, but they're not open for dinner. Guess what, well, they're open Sundays and Mondays. Have you been No, I'm dying to go. 00:19:57 Speaker 3: It's we have to go. It's so good. 00:20:01 Speaker 1: I looked at like dreamt about this menu, the chicken dish. Oh, oh my god. We have to stop because listener, you should make a trip to Los Angeles. We're doing the live show August twenty second. You can go to both of these restaurants. What are we talking about? Book the flight, the flight, but you. 00:20:20 Speaker 3: Have to make sure the live show is on a Sunday or Monday. 00:20:22 Speaker 1: Well, it's on a Friday, so they have to do a Friday through Sunday or Friday through. You can do a weekend, perfect weekend trip. That's really well, say boss, I'm not going to be here Monday. I gotta take a long weekend. 00:20:33 Speaker 3: You know, I gotta get that Bubbs dinner chicken And the boss says what and then you repeat it again and then you get fired. 00:20:41 Speaker 1: Lose your job. The Econnery is the all time peak. We're all having an incredible talk comedy. What could go wrong? 00:20:50 Speaker 3: Go wrong? Really? Nice? 00:20:52 Speaker 1: Wow? We do need to go there for dinner. 00:20:54 Speaker 3: We have to, and I think that that should happen soon. 00:20:56 Speaker 1: I took a long break from bub and Grandma's, and sure, we'll keep talking about it because they opened, I think in twenty one, and I had a whole conspiracy theory about this place because we are in kind of a rapidly gentrifying area of Los Angeles, and they they opened next to a restaurant that had been protested. Yeah, done more, it dones more. And so they opened shortly after. And my conspiracy theory was, We're going to open with lower prices as to avoid people freaking out, because it was very reasonable. They did that, and then not that long after just a few months, the prices ticked up. But I still think it's in comparison to rest of LA. And now that I've gone back recently, I'm like, oh, actually, it is kind of For the quality of food, it's fairly affordable. 00:21:46 Speaker 3: It's so sad to reckon with that because I completely agree with you, but it's like, there are so many times where I'm like over the moon, thrilled that I've paid twenty five dollars for a normal sandwich with all ingredients that cost forty cents and it doesn't make me sick or taste like shit, And I'm like, you know what, that's a great deal. 00:22:06 Speaker 1: What a bark. 00:22:06 Speaker 3: It is just like, oh, I've been brainwashed, and it's just like there's so many times where I've gone out in this god forsake in town. I love living here or whatever, but it's like and I've just paid just an absurd for food. That's like, well, I just simply could have made this at home. 00:22:20 Speaker 1: Oh yeah, the price is there's an I'm not going to name. There's another sandwich restaurant here that I won't even call out. I think I have on this restaurant on this podcast before that I think was ground zero for sandwich prices just doubling overnight, and I think I know what you're talking about. Does it start with a W? 00:22:38 Speaker 3: Yes? 00:22:39 Speaker 1: Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, and great sandwiches, but again not that great. Sorry not to turn a whole the sitting into a culture of twenty five dollars sandwiches. 00:22:51 Speaker 3: It's too much. And it's also like the whole like, okay, I'm gonna I'm gonna pivot a little bit. We'll see so bub and Grahama's everything. What's your thought on a smash burger? 00:23:05 Speaker 1: Oh enough, yes, I agree. I think it's a delicious tasting thing totally. But now there used to be a restaurant in LA called gold State. Yea Golden State on Fairfax, not a smash burger, probably the best hamburger I've ever eaten, whoa. And they were hanging in there until the pandemic that then that shut them down. Then they opened up. They also own a coffee shop next door called Kofax. Oh yeah, and they started selling hamburgers out of that and it was like a miracle because every other hamburger in LA is now a smash Burger. So we would drive to West Hollywood probably every other week at least, just to get a hamburger there. And now that's closed. 00:23:48 Speaker 3: Well have you been to Castles? 00:23:50 Speaker 1: Now this is a whole other conversation I don't have with you because I call it Casselles. And now which of us is right? 00:23:58 Speaker 3: Well, so I think I actually started. I started out in my Castle's Journey the Cells, but then I got nervous because then I was like, am I like adding like a fanciness to this that, like it's a hamburger place, right? But then I but I don't know, I don't know the answer. 00:24:14 Speaker 1: If I had my phone nearby. I would call them right now. 00:24:16 Speaker 3: Yes, how do you say it? And they're like, don't call here. 00:24:21 Speaker 1: This is what my method would be. The answer, say the name, and I would hang up on them. 00:24:25 Speaker 3: That's genius. That's like, that's a better thing than what I said. 00:24:29 Speaker 1: Because if I'm more, if I'm wondering if a business is open for the day, I won't call and ask what their hours are. I'll call and hang up on them. I'm like, well, they answered the phone, certainly they're open. That's free because I don't want to say are you open, because then I don't want My fear is I'll be like, what do you think. 00:24:45 Speaker 3: You're gonna be met with like a exactly like yeah, that's a really you're kind of like doing like a sort of a prank. 00:24:52 Speaker 1: Call, which is probably more. I bet the employee is thrilled that they don't have to answer any questions. 00:24:57 Speaker 3: Yeah, honestly. 00:24:58 Speaker 1: But you bring up Castle's Casselle and tell me why. 00:25:02 Speaker 3: I think it's really delicious. 00:25:04 Speaker 1: Best absolute best patty melt I've ever had. 00:25:07 Speaker 3: It's so psycho, it's so good. 00:25:10 Speaker 1: It's what you get there. 00:25:11 Speaker 3: Well, and my orders changed. So I used to live in Koreatown, and I was there in Koreatown during the pandemic and Castle Slash Casseels was like a every once in a while treat to go that because I did like a carry out window during the oh yeah, and it was like, you know, at fifteen minute walk from my place, and it felt like such a special treat because also the way it's like very kind of like it's like a it's like an everyman sugarfish way they do the carry out because it's like, you know, a big cardboard box. It's like very handsome, like the stamp of like the logo stamped on it, right, and then it's like a checkered wax paper. 00:25:51 Speaker 1: Oh, I love that paper. 00:25:52 Speaker 3: And it's like so you just feel like taken care of, you know. So I used to do like a like a run of the mill like cheeseburger with with everything right, you know. I think aesthetically, it's like give me the onion ring, give me the likeliness. 00:26:06 Speaker 4: I love. 00:26:07 Speaker 1: Like the the fry there, I think is really excellent French fry. 00:26:11 Speaker 3: It's like they're not doing them right. Oh they are. 00:26:14 Speaker 1: Nobody else. 00:26:15 Speaker 3: Nobody else is doing it. 00:26:16 Speaker 1: Every other manager in the city should go try at Cassel's Castle's French fry. 00:26:21 Speaker 3: It's so it's so spot on. And then I would get they used to have and I think maybe maybe it's like a rotating special thing, but they used to have a tamer and soda. 00:26:32 Speaker 1: Oh that sounds incredible. 00:26:34 Speaker 4: It was just like. 00:26:36 Speaker 3: Unreal, oh, really really really great stuff. So I just sort of did like a classic meal with a little. 00:26:42 Speaker 1: Thun drink right right. 00:26:44 Speaker 3: But then I then I started to play around because I think it was like you know, COVID lockdown brain, where I was like, if I get this and it's not perfect, I'm gonna lose enough time. So I found the thing that worked, and I was like, well, I can't. But then once everything was normal and I felt normal and stable, I started getting patty. 00:27:03 Speaker 1: Melts, the patty melts with the crispy cheese on the outside. I've ever seen something like this before. It's really wonderful stuff they've got Secretly the Denver Omelet's very good. 00:27:12 Speaker 3: That's fascinating, very. 00:27:13 Speaker 1: Good fried chicken sandwich. They're so good. What a great place. It's underrated. 00:27:18 Speaker 3: It's really underrated. 00:27:19 Speaker 1: There's one in there. I know. I will say. The service is a little crazy. 00:27:23 Speaker 3: Yeah, it's a little bit bananas. 00:27:24 Speaker 1: I feel like they have a new employee every single time we're there who's just learning what's going on. 00:27:28 Speaker 3: They don't know what's happening. 00:27:30 Speaker 1: But the food's always good. How are you having your hamburger cooked medium rare? Me too? Wow? Come on, just two souls connected hearing. 00:27:43 Speaker 3: I'm so glad that you feel the same way about smash burgers. I think enough is enough. I don't care about them. No, did you go there's like that new one that opened on eel Rock Boulevard that I live in Eagle Rock and nobody cares. But it's like it's a neighborhood and there's. 00:27:59 Speaker 1: One that get your map out, start circling things. 00:28:01 Speaker 3: Oh sorry, but there's one that opened next to my house that like everyone in my neighborhood was like freaking out about. And I was like, you know, it was caught in four conversations in a week where it's like, oh my god, have you been to this place? And I went with Luke and it was like, dude, this is just whatever it's what is it called? 00:28:19 Speaker 1: Can you name it? 00:28:21 Speaker 3: Oh? 00:28:22 Speaker 1: I was suspicious that this was a smash burger place, and I'm just not going to do it. 00:28:27 Speaker 3: It's gross. I mean, it's not even gross, it's fine, but it's like, you know what, I want my hamburger to have meat. 00:28:32 Speaker 1: Yes, sorry, I wanted to endanger my heart. Yes, I uh. And that place, like the idea of it seems very nice and I would love to, but it's like, come on, you're what, it's such a fad. It's that we had moved past that. 00:28:45 Speaker 3: I agree. It feels very like like twenty twelve food culture right to right, you know where it's just like all of a sudden when everyone was like putting like bacon on the doughnuts, you know what I mean. And it's like very like we're taking smash burgers and actually that's the old and it's like, you know, I wish that that wasn't the case. 00:29:04 Speaker 1: Do you know what? There's another restaurant and I will name this place Burger Lords. Oh. 00:29:08 Speaker 3: I haven't been actually this place. 00:29:10 Speaker 1: Speaking of gentrification, it feels like they're trying to gentrify a gentrified neighborhood. That's so because they use because it's to the uh the place which I can't remember, the lodge it's called lodge room. Yeah, this place used to be run by other people. They sold it to these new people and and it used to be good. Whoa they sold it to them. They stripped the menu to nothing but their one smash burger and it's literally twenty five dollars, and it's kind of like, deal with it. That's the attitude of the place. I don't leave negative reviews for restaurants that often, but you get the people are burning them down. 00:29:50 Speaker 3: Oh my god, that's so awesome, as they should. I think that's like so offensive. 00:29:56 Speaker 1: Oh, it's so it's cruel. Let's just say it. It's cruel, cruel. 00:30:00 Speaker 3: If you were to open a restaurant, what would you serve? 00:30:03 Speaker 1: Oh, that's a great question. I think I would probably do. Oh, I can't open a Mexican restaurant. I feel like that becomes problematic pretty quickly. Although I eat so many burritos. You could have a text Mex Text Mex. I probably do you know what I would do? Breakfast burritos, breakfast burritos and tacos, because there's another local chain that I think is slipping. Huh, breakfast Tacos totally they're expanding too quickly. 00:30:30 Speaker 3: Oh I know, yes, yeah, yeah, Yeah, it's not great. 00:30:34 Speaker 1: It's not great. It used to be really good. 00:30:35 Speaker 3: It's too salty now, way too salty. 00:30:37 Speaker 1: And frequently wet. 00:30:39 Speaker 3: I agree. 00:30:40 Speaker 1: And it's just like that's an easy thing to make. Yeah. 00:30:43 Speaker 3: Yeah, it's like this isn't rocket science. 00:30:45 Speaker 1: Yeah, that's right. Yeah, so it'd probably be that. But I have honestly thought about opening a cookie bakery, like if I had. 00:30:51 Speaker 3: To open You're mister Cookie, I'm Cookie. You're your doctor Cookie. Yeah, the doctor is in the prognosis is cookie. The last time I was here, I to meet your sweet, perfect, wonderful puff. 00:31:06 Speaker 1: We should have her on the podcast. 00:31:08 Speaker 3: You said you mentioned it in my heart skipped to beat and I wasn't gonna say anything, But now that you mention it again, I really hope she comes down. 00:31:14 Speaker 1: Should we? Uh? I want to find out what you would open? Do you need a minute to think about as far as a restaurant or should we cover this and then bring Bonnie. 00:31:22 Speaker 3: Out for I think I know? 00:31:24 Speaker 1: Okay? What is it? 00:31:27 Speaker 2: Uh? 00:31:29 Speaker 3: Fried baloney sandwiches? 00:31:30 Speaker 1: Oh I've never had one? 00:31:32 Speaker 3: Oh? 00:31:33 Speaker 1: Wow? Wow? What h what goes into this? 00:31:37 Speaker 3: Okay? So it's I mean, so I'm from the South, right, I grew up partially with this woman who lived in deep South Tennessee and Pegram and she would make us fried baloney sandwiches all the time. Rip Judy. She recently passed. She was awesome. She was really, really great. But it's just like she would get bologne. Did you know bloney came on a log. 00:32:00 Speaker 1: That's one of the unfortunate things about a balooney. It's just like, I wish that this was just slices or something. I don't need to know anything else about this meat. 00:32:07 Speaker 3: I didn't know. I mean, it's like now you go to a deli and you're like, oh, for sure. At the time when I was a child, I was like, what is that? And then she would bring it up from their freezer and like what you know, like on her counter, but she would thick slice like two and a half inch. Oh, that's the thick thick Baloney's I've never had a thick that's the trick. That's really wonderful. And then you take that you put that in a pan. 00:32:33 Speaker 1: Right, I don't think you. 00:32:34 Speaker 3: Really need butter oil. You know, it's right, it's got enough of that in there, It's got whatever is in there is seep and out and it'll fry and it's it's sort of excretions and you give it a nice year and then you know, I think ideally, Actually it was really sweet when when Judy passed away, I had my brother come over to my house and we made all of the foods that were like, oh, that's so sweet. We watched Angel on the Outfield, which was like the movie that we would watch at our house, and we made biscuits and apple butter. We made fried baloney sandwiches and we like even tracked down like the apple butter that was oh wow, like found it online and it's like you know, spoiler, it's like cheap, normal apple, but very specific. But anyway, so it's like big thick baloney, seared, seared, seared, and then you get good bread like I think ideally either you know, not like a potato bread because it's kind of too mush, but like as much as I love that, but maybe something with a little bit of no, you know what, I'm gonna go back potato bread. Get a potato bread, and then you get a crisp, good butter lettuce, a nice thick cut, good quality tomato, good thick mayonnaise. Either side of the bread and cheese optional. I don't like it with cheese. But it's just like a It's almost like you're doing. 00:33:58 Speaker 1: A Blteah, it's like a hardy blt exactly. And I was just I can't remember who I was complaining too recently that a belt really never feels like a sandwich to me, Like this is so this corrects that, right, It's more like because we're closing in on Hamburger territory, but with bacon flavor. 00:34:13 Speaker 3: Almost it's really nice. 00:34:15 Speaker 1: Wow, that feels like a business that could happen. 00:34:17 Speaker 3: I think it could happen, and I wouldn't be a I wouldn't be like and that's actually all we have, you know. I wouldn't be like you know, it would be it'd be sixty cents and then it would be on a menu full of like Yeah, I would do biscuits. I would do sort of like an egg sandwich. I would do like a nice like cucumber vinegar salad. Oh, everything's really cheap, you know. I do like a pickle situation. 00:34:40 Speaker 1: This sounds incredible. This to me, I frequently feel like I eat like a I like detective food. What do you mean food like that you just ordered a diner that you could have with the coffee. 00:34:50 Speaker 3: But that's really nice. I like, you have to do a lot of research to say what's in it. 00:34:55 Speaker 1: I'm looking into every ingredient to make sure that it's clean eating. 00:35:00 Speaker 3: You're terrorizing everywhere. That is I totally feel you. So you're saying, like a slice of pie a nice like yeah, non no nonsense, sandwich. 00:35:10 Speaker 1: Yes, yeah, yeah. I remember when I was eating or when I was working at Kimmy Schmidt. I remember they had a birthday cake come in and I had a slice and I had it with a cup of black coffee and my boss said, what are you a traveling salesman? And I thought, kind of, that's kind of my diet. 00:35:25 Speaker 3: It's really nice. It's so like wonderful. We like when when when we have you know, like if there's like a holiday or we have a party. Oh my god, somebody brought we we had a Fourth of July thing that hmm I did. 00:35:39 Speaker 1: Huh, Katie, I actually want to apologize someone I was so looking forward to coming to this. 00:35:44 Speaker 3: Interesting someone didn't show up to even though RSVPD yes on the party for and then oh and behold, I wake up this morning. I say, what a wonderful time to just stretch and enjoy my morning. Came emergency text from Bridger. Can you do a big favorite? Can you be a guest on the pod? 00:36:03 Speaker 1: Oh? 00:36:04 Speaker 3: Is that interesting? Is the second? But I throw a wonderful party and you're nowhere to be seen. That's okay, that's totally fine. 00:36:12 Speaker 1: But anyway, I was actually I not only was I planning to come, I was telling people I'm going to Katie's. What the next day I was going to Utah seven am? 00:36:21 Speaker 3: Oh, that's why. 00:36:22 Speaker 1: And I had an early Fourth of July party that I went to at noon. Yeah, And I kept telling Jim, I'm going to Katy's. I'm going to Katy's or you can't do two parties like find Jim, you don't have to come, I'm going to Katie's. The wall of fatigue that hit me. Yeah, I was like, and I'm telling you, there are so many parties that I'm happy to just not go to totally. This was one that was a true moral dilemma for me where I almost texted you, but then I was like, she doesn't want to hear, she does not care. 00:36:50 Speaker 3: Well, it's not that I was like, well, I'm not to lay it on thick. It's like I would have loved to see you. It wasn't that I was like crushed that you weren't there. I totally get it. Like I'm if there's someone who's at a different party, it's Bridger. It's like, I'm sure that you're You're mister party truly, not you're doctor Cookie, You're mister Well okay, you don't like parties, but you're at them. 00:37:10 Speaker 1: I'm adam, you're at them just a nice reluctantly there. Yeah, but this is a party that I would not have been reluctantly there. 00:37:16 Speaker 3: That's nice. 00:37:16 Speaker 1: But literally, I don't know what happened to me. 00:37:18 Speaker 3: It was hot. 00:37:19 Speaker 1: I think it was the heat. I think just being on the heat for like the forty five minutes I was. The other event was just like sun sickness. 00:37:26 Speaker 3: It was really tough because ours started at three and then people came uh at like three on the dot actually and then like it didn't it wasn't tolerable to be outside until about five, and it was really tough and just like muscling through conversation and like Luke was on, I mean Luke came alive on the grill. 00:37:45 Speaker 1: Sure, of course, I. 00:37:46 Speaker 3: Mean I will. I will say, not to make you feel bad, not to rub it in, but you did miss Piggy and her big shirt. 00:37:50 Speaker 1: I know, just read that. I wanted to see the big shirt my doggy. 00:37:53 Speaker 3: Piggy has a shirt and it is a Hawaiian shirt, and she does look terrific and it fits her like a glove and she really becomes sort of a different kind of doggie in the sense that she's like slightly more gross. 00:38:07 Speaker 1: Well, it's a power shirt. 00:38:09 Speaker 3: It's a power shirt. She really becomes like a wretched guy. Yeah, it's sort of like a guy you set a bowling alley who's been overserved. Yeah. Absolutely, But what was I gonna say? 00:38:21 Speaker 1: We were talking about the fourth of July party, me not attending. 00:38:24 Speaker 3: Right, I was, I was. I was trying to make you sure shirt, Piggy shirt. You know what, I don't think it matters, doesn't matter, it doesn't matter. 00:38:32 Speaker 1: Go think about it. I'll go get Bonnie and you think about maybe try to remember. 00:38:36 Speaker 3: Okay, Oh my gosh, oh my goodness, is that the most wonderful puppy that's ever Oh? 00:38:46 Speaker 1: You a little nervous Bonnie is a little nervous. She's never been on a podcast before. 00:38:51 Speaker 3: He can we can sniff. You can sniff the shoes, you can sniff. 00:38:55 Speaker 1: Oh okay, figure, Oh my goodness, Bonnie's a little shy on Mike, let me see. Could you want to get up here so you can be on the camera. 00:39:10 Speaker 3: Oh, she is the most precious angel. Yes, that is terrific. 00:39:18 Speaker 1: Bonnie's appearing on camera for the first time. 00:39:21 Speaker 3: Wow, this is the first Bonnie. 00:39:23 Speaker 1: Yeah, this is the first Bonnie on the podcast. 00:39:26 Speaker 3: I am so honored to be part of this moment. How do you feel holding a microphone and Bonnie? 00:39:32 Speaker 1: It's perfect, It's so natural, so natural. Okay, Bonnie, I think you just need to use the bathroom. Then we'll go back. 00:39:39 Speaker 3: Okay, okay, Well goodbye. You're an angel and you're perfect and never change. High sweet bean. Oh my goodness, you have such a wonderful smile. I'm gonna cry. What a perfect puppy. Have you guys ever seen a puppy so wonderful? O? God, I love dogs. That was so wonderful. 00:40:08 Speaker 1: Okay, for the listener, if you're just listening, just imagine the perfect angel of the world sitting on my lap for a minute. 00:40:16 Speaker 3: Do you think any of that's gonna make it in? 00:40:17 Speaker 1: Oh? Absolutely, some of that. Connor do as what you need as far as editing and cutting that. But we should have some Bonnie on camera. 00:40:29 Speaker 3: You gotta have Bonnie on cam. She's so fabulous. I really, just while you were gone, I was talking about how like a wave of calm washed over after witnessing her. She's so cute. 00:40:39 Speaker 1: She is a perfect woman. Oh and you brought her a lovely little gift. I did an elephant dressed like a ballerina. 00:40:46 Speaker 3: Actually it was a hippo. 00:40:47 Speaker 1: Oh yeah, hippo. Actually, my apologies to the hippo community. 00:40:54 Speaker 3: So yeah, did she chew it? 00:40:56 Speaker 1: Oh yeah, of course she went crazy for Oh that's so good. Funny because every toy like that she chews up. But she has one bowl that's in her crate with her that is just her roommate. She doesn't rip it apart. She just sleeps. 00:41:13 Speaker 3: That's so nice. You have a special friend. Can I bring up something that's kind of crazy? 00:41:20 Speaker 1: Of course. 00:41:23 Speaker 3: I was while you were gone. The first time. I sort of whispered this to camera, and then I was like, I don't know if I'm going to bring this up, but then I am, and I'm just gonna see where it goes. And part of this you already know, and then there's another part that you don't know. And I really want to preface this by saying I mean this as no. I hope to God this doesn't make you feel weird or bad in any way. This this ends in tears. I'm never welcome back. I'm gonna I'm gonna come out with a gun. Okay, So I sent you a mess a while ago saying that your podcast made my sleep rotation. Yes, yes, And I for the listener, I've had like trouble sleeping for a very long time, like ten years ago. I started listening to podcasts just to like wind down at night. And I have sort of like a queue, like an eight hour cue Oh my God, all night because I'll routine up and uh and then I just need to like drift back off right whatever. And I was like, had been searching a lot for cause it was tough as I listened to a lot of comedy podcasts, I listened to a lot of like research podcasts, but I needed something that was like something that holds my attention enough that it will take my mind off of whatever I'm like kind of spinning out about. But then also not something like so gripping, like we're doing like a four part series about this really crazy you know what I mean, like where did she end up? Where exactly? Welcome back to where'd she go exactly? And this is the final light that you learned where she went exactly? So I couldn't do that. And also with comedy podcasts, it's tough because it's like it was a really delightful What I'm getting to is that yours is so perfect because you have a the most perfect voice in the world. Oh that's very sweet and b it's like it's it's it's so soothing and so fun and so lightheart. Anyway, so I was it was on rotation. It was just it was heavy in the rotation for for months and months, and I would just cueue up. I said, no gifts and it was so great, and then something really crazy happened? 00:43:36 Speaker 1: What and I haven't brought this up to Oh I cannot. 00:43:40 Speaker 3: You told. I woke up and in like half of a dream stain and I had to go back and find it to make sure I wasn't like hallucinating. But on the podcast, you told a story from my life that happened to me and Anna about. 00:43:58 Speaker 1: Oh my god, of course, oh my lord. 00:44:04 Speaker 3: And it's like a really crazy story and it was really insane to basically, my friend and I were at a sauna and a woman passed away and. 00:44:14 Speaker 1: The most devastating thing I've ever heard. 00:44:16 Speaker 3: It was really crazy and in a lot of ways and so sad, and like, you know what, I'm gonna, fucking I'm gonna this is We're departing from what I just said all to say that it was the most wild experience of my life. Because I was sleeping and I was like. 00:44:31 Speaker 1: Oh, because I'm a podcast, imagine. 00:44:34 Speaker 3: Sometimes it makes its way into my dream, right, And then all of a sudden I was confronted with this like, well, here's someone else saying something that is like that feels familiar. Oh no, that happened? Did that happen to me? And then it's sort of this nightmare situation anyway, so that I'm and I like, and then I was like Charlie Coughlin, yeah, And I was like, unfortunately, I don't think listen any not that I'm like, you're always bringing me up. But it was just like, oh, it was so crazy. 00:45:02 Speaker 1: Imagine. 00:45:03 Speaker 3: Yeah, it was really like I was in a different orbit basically what happened? Should I tell you? Yeah? 00:45:07 Speaker 1: I would love because I didn't have all the details and I've always been so curious. 00:45:10 Speaker 3: Okay, this is crazy, this was awful. Okay. So me and Anna and Luke went to on a beautiful Monday night just to unwine. And then we're there from like eight pm to ten pm or something. We're coming out and Luke's already in the waiting room waiting for us to leave, and then we're checking out and there's a woman with like a face mask on and whatever who like clearly is like a patron of the sauna, who is in the middle of begging the front staff for help. 00:45:46 Speaker 1: Uh huh. 00:45:47 Speaker 3: And we so we walk in and it's like, please, please do something, Please you have to do something, please help, please help. We look at the staff. They are not looking at her. WHOA, They are not reacting to her. WHOA. The only thing that we see is them. Eventually, they're like, we'll get to it. And then and then we're like we kind of ignore it for a second because we're like, maybe it's maybe she's like nuts, She's like, my sauna smells bad. But then she turns to us and she was like, please, you have to help me. There's someone who isn't moving in the sauna. Please help, please help, And then we like look at each other and then we look at the people the again, the staff aren't doing anything, so weird, it's crazy, and so then we go back. She she pulls us back into the sauna and there was a woman who was in there who had passed away, and we uh, like we took her pulse and you know, like she had been clearly like had been. What was really awful was that we had seen her. I mean, the whole thing was awful, but we had seen her alive. Oh when we were in the summer, Yeah, and like she was just you know, great, and she was just hanging out and having a nice time, like chilling. She had a little caddy and right, you know, it was like clearly like a like a veteran, right, a goer and uh and so okay, so if that's not bad enough, so we're we're there. We have like taken the pulse of this woman. And this is also after like slowly approaching her like ten minutes has gone by between us like confirming that this woman has passed, and like when we were in the front lobby and this woman was screaming for help right right, So there's a lot of time here. After we confirm that she's passed. One employee walks back slowly huh and sort of warily right, and I and another patron because there's like six women look at her and we're like, call nine one one right now. And then we watch her turn around and walk out. Who we're not running, we're not even jogging what She comes back three times and we and we say in English and in Spanish, you need to call nine one one right now. So it's like there's no way that there was any confusion. And then basically oh and then, uh, what else happened? So then we're they eventually call nine one one. It took too long, I would say. And then meanwhile, no one from the staff has done anything to even put up a partition to put up to take control of the situation, because there's other people in this Yeah, of course, so there's women that are coming out of like just getting massages or whatever the sauna that this woman is in. This body. So me and Anna are and these other women have taken it upon ourselves to like notify everyone else in the changing room in the sauna. We're blocking off the area. We are telling women like, hey, there's gonna be like firemen and policemen that are coming back here in probably twenty minutes. Everyone needs everyone's naked. So we're like, you need to change the criers. And so we just like completely took control. 00:49:32 Speaker 1: You're now managing the spa, managing. 00:49:35 Speaker 3: The spa, and so, you know, so all of that happens. We're back there. You know, it's probably forty minutes or whatever. We talked to the fire department, we talked to the police for a little bit. We finally leave. It's like also hitting us that, like we have discovered a body and it's horrible and what a terrible sad thing this is. So now, like that sort of trauma is like setting up and we're starting to like cry and shake and leaving the sauna. And guess what happens when we try to leave. They say that'll be forty dollars. 00:50:09 Speaker 1: This to me was the biggest, the biggest error of all. 00:50:13 Speaker 3: They'll say that'll be forty dollars. 00:50:15 Speaker 1: Unbelievable. I say, what what. 00:50:20 Speaker 3: Sorry, what what is that? It's forty dollars? Do you mean you're gonna give me forty dollars? What do you mean? And then the guy was so disrespectful, and I was like, I was like, we just we just saw a body. Like we were so shell shot, of course that I didn't even have it in me to because normally I like, yeah, you'd be like well no, I'll be like you fuck you. But I was so we were so out of it, and I was like, there's a body that we just saw a body, and he was like, yeah, it'll be forty dollars, was so cold, didn't ask if we were okay, didn't check up, We pay for it. We leave, and then Luke has been in the lobby the entire time, and then we we check in with him. He's like the woman who was initially asking for help was out there for. 00:51:02 Speaker 1: A while, who knows how long? 00:51:05 Speaker 3: Who knows. 00:51:07 Speaker 1: So then so then we leave. 00:51:11 Speaker 3: This is a this is sort of a saga. It's okay, oh yeah, of course, okay, okay. So then afterwards we're so shaken up, and it's like one of those things that's like so traumatic. But then you started to think about it and you're like, wait, no, that's completely insane, right, what an outrageous thing that no one took control, no one seemed to care. All of it felt very disrespectful to both the person who passed and also all of the other patrons, where you're just not there's no protocol for this. So then we leave, So we leave a Google review. So I step, I put on my combat boots and I put on my bereat, and I take to the computer. And well, so me and Luke actually we we we leave Google reviews and. 00:51:55 Speaker 1: And did you like lay out the situation in the reviews? 00:51:57 Speaker 3: Kind of? I kind of wanted to be sort of respectful because it's like, this is like a person who passed, but then also, you know, but also fuck this place, you know. Luke was actually more oh yeah, no, no, So I think the three of us did. Within minutes, we all get really threatening, like legal threatening nails that are really long, right, that are very clearly like they are trying to intimidate us into silence. And they used like vague legal jargon that had no like I'm not a lawyer, I'm a cartoonist. I don't know nothing about Nathan, but I looked at it and I was like, that doesn't make sense because they said something about like you are utilizing anti slap something something slapp right, which is something that means I think anti slap law is applied to like it doesn't even matter. It's not applicable to the situation at all. Okay, okay, it's something that happens after a lawsuit, like you can not candor someone if they have proven that you are right. Right, if you said I have a tentacle leg and I took you to court and I said, no, I don't, here's proof, and. 00:53:11 Speaker 1: They could no longer keep saying yes, that's my anti slap. Well I think okay. 00:53:15 Speaker 3: Anyway, so it was just like you're just sort of and it also felt very copy paste. 00:53:19 Speaker 1: Us probably happened before so so. 00:53:26 Speaker 3: So I the Google review stays up because they're like take it down. No, no, no, the Google review stays up. This is where it gets like quite sad. I get a message from someone through the Google review who responds and says, I am the son of the woman. Oh really terrible. I'm the son of the woman who was found at the SPA. Here is my number. I would like to talk to you. So for the next couple of months, I am in touch with this woman's family and they're awesome and but they I you know, I gave I talked to them, I talked to their lawyer. I learned a lot about her. She seemed so amazing and great and like and it was something that I I cause I didn't want to put the fear of God in them. I was like, listen, like, I can give you my account. I don't know if your mother had a condition. I don't know. You know it's ASAUA and you do sign a wave right, right, and that is real. But the fact of the matter is is that I'm thirty two. Anna's however old Stanna is young. 00:54:33 Speaker 1: I've heard she's like in her mid seventies. 00:54:35 Speaker 3: She's mid seventies. Anna is ninety six. And we were in the hot tub for about ten minutes and both of us got so light headed we had to get out right something. So it's sort of unusually high temperature in my opinion. Not only that, but usually at these places there are staff members of course checking in on people. 00:54:53 Speaker 1: Yes, because it is kind of a dangerous thing. You were going to fall awa, you me? People, Yeah, keeping checking in, we spaw. 00:55:00 Speaker 3: It's constant. People are constantly opening this on a doors, checking in. There's timers. 00:55:05 Speaker 1: You know. 00:55:05 Speaker 3: There was not a single staff member back there for the entire time we were there. So I told them this the family, and I was just like listen, like if it were my mom, I would want to know, like what's like. They seemed very under they were very underprepared for this. My experience was that it felt unusually warm and there was nobody checking in right, so you know, and so anyway, we kept in contact. She was like sending me pictures of her mom, and she was just like the best. It was really very and it like, I don't know, it was just very like humanity can be really nice sometimes. It was just like they were just like a really beautiful family, and I felt so terrible for them with a horrible tragedy, but I just learned a lot about this woman and she seemed awesome anyway. And what I did get to tell them was like, well, if if there's anything I can say is that your mother died very peacefully, and she looked like incredibly relaxed. I mean, I know, that's like a kind of a crazy thing to say, but it was right. She was like literally like chilling and had her caddy and was in asana and was very peaceful. It was very I don't know, it was at some whatever anyway. Anyway, Uh so I talked to the lawyer. This is the lot. I'm wrapping up the last thing that I told. I don't know where the case is at. Now what I learn this is not the first time this has happened. Of course, there are active investigations. Wow, whoa, I'm glad this is on Patreon. I don't I know. 00:56:37 Speaker 1: Listener, please be discreet about the whole staff is the listeners. 00:56:45 Speaker 3: But it was like it's it's really not good over there, and uh yeah, so this is not the first time. It probably won't be the last time. And I think that place should be shut. 00:56:56 Speaker 1: Yeah, it's crazy. Hopefully the city is getting involved. 00:56:59 Speaker 3: I hope. 00:57:00 Speaker 1: Oh what a thing to have been through. 00:57:03 Speaker 3: So there I was sleeping and then I hear. 00:57:06 Speaker 1: You hear like the loosest retelling of the story possible me like grasping for details, just deeply inaccurate that nicely, No, it was it was. 00:57:21 Speaker 3: It was really it was really kind of a crazy experience, but by no means was it. Like I guess it was scary because I was. 00:57:27 Speaker 1: Sleep Yeah, and like my retelling is probably kind of like the weird, nightmarish version of right, It's like, well, this is kind of the details, they're just in a weird order. 00:57:34 Speaker 3: Well, I mean you did kind of tell a ghost story, which is I think how you tell a story like that? 00:57:37 Speaker 1: Yeah, because it's so scary. So unfair to you anyway, Well wild look, speaking of egregious behavior. Oh no, there is something. This is a good pivot for story, Katie. I was excited to have you here on the podcast today. 00:57:56 Speaker 3: I was so thrilled. 00:57:57 Speaker 1: I was so happy you were going to do it. I adore. I thought we would have a nice conversation and we would move on with our days. So I was a little surprised when you came kind of just trotting into my house holding what could not more clearly be a gift. The podcast is called, I said, no gifts, Right, do you have any explanations this for me? I don't know. I don't know what's going on. 00:58:21 Speaker 3: Listen. I you're right, So I want to start there and say that you are completely valid in your feeling. 00:58:28 Speaker 1: And you're running theme in this podcasting right, very right, So I have I would say, I guess I would challenge that it's a gift and maybe. 00:58:42 Speaker 3: More of a forget me not. 00:58:45 Speaker 1: I love forgetting me, not forget me not. 00:58:48 Speaker 3: Yes, and and but you know, but I do think I bent the rules. 00:58:54 Speaker 1: Well, should I open it here on the podcast? 00:58:56 Speaker 2: Yes? 00:58:56 Speaker 3: Please, if that's okay with you? 00:58:58 Speaker 1: If I sure, well, yeah, will bend the rules once once, no one tell any other guests. It's in kind of this gorgeous gift bag, this brown Starbucks bag. 00:59:12 Speaker 3: Yes, I ordered a coffee beforehand, and I said, what. 00:59:15 Speaker 1: A fabulous Yeah, perfect, Okay, I'm reaching in Okay. Oh now it's wrapped in a crunchy brown paper. 00:59:21 Speaker 3: That's right, be careful now, it's delicate. Oh it is. 00:59:25 Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a heart it. 00:59:28 Speaker 3: Oh isn't that the most wonderful thing you've seen? Can you believe it? 00:59:36 Speaker 1: It's a little yellow pig taxi cab. It's almost impossible to describe as a salt or pepper shaker. And it's a taxi cab that's kind of bent purposefully. Yeah, it looks like it's been in a car accident. Actually it's a cracked window, yes. And then it has a pig driver, yes, who is also coincidentally the same color as the tech he kept, so he almost looks like he's part of part of it. It's kind of a freakish monster. And it's absolutely adorable. 01:00:06 Speaker 3: Isn't it the most delightful thing you've seen ever? 01:00:10 Speaker 1: Come from? Okay? 01:00:10 Speaker 3: Well so so the reason why it's all okay? So it came from an antique store in uh outside of Bakersfield. I went Whitewater Rafting recently and we went to like a little shop. It was two peas and anse and I love like little I call them faw fast little goo goos, you know, love this sort of bullshit, you know. And so this is this is one of a pair. I have the other one. 01:00:37 Speaker 1: Oh, this is now we're bonded. 01:00:38 Speaker 3: And this is a forget me not because so yes, it's a saltan and or pepper shaker. I bought two sets. So this is a pig in a taxi, and then there was another one that was pigs playing the flute, and I just thought these are so fantastic. But you know what's interesting about these is that you would think the way that the because so for the less it's like, yeah, the pig is hanging out of the taxi, he's got like a wry little smile on him. He's done something naughty. You imagine what he's done is he's crashed the taxi because the hood is like bent up in a kind of crazy way. But because it's like a salt and pepper shaker, you would imagine what's the other one. 01:01:16 Speaker 1: The matching thing. I would imagine whatever he's run into. Maybe it's a dumpster with another pig peaking out, that he's run into a tree that is now splintered. Another car. 01:01:26 Speaker 3: That's so creative and such a better, better thing than what it actually is, which is an identical thiss. It's identical. They don't even it's not even the opposite. They don't even like, Okay, well, surely they're gonna like where the hoods bend, they're gonna touch, you know what I'm saying. Of course they face the exact same way and kind. 01:01:50 Speaker 1: Of pushed together. Ultimately totally. 01:01:53 Speaker 3: Nor is there an indication of whether or not it's salt or pepper. 01:01:56 Speaker 1: Oh no, I would you just have to guess I wonder if salt if the holes indicates I've never thought about that. 01:02:03 Speaker 3: That's so smart, Bridger, they're the same holes three, because I think you're right totally, it's the. 01:02:09 Speaker 1: Same holes, right, I mean, there are so many options this could have been, Like the pepper could have been like a pig body. Yeah, it's run over, you met, you know, so it's obviously a New York pig. So may like a fire hydrant that's been tipped over, totally coming out of it. Yeah, but they've just got the identical thing. Yeah, they've just got baffling. 01:02:31 Speaker 3: I mean I have because I've been keeping them on my desk because I'm like, I don't know what to do with the right you know. I mean, I think they're fantastic. I really think it's like kind of the most bizarre Salter pepper shaker thing I've ever seen. Yeah, I don't know what to make heads or tails of it, because it's just sort of like, why have it crash in a weird shape like that if you're not going. 01:02:49 Speaker 1: To like complete right, what's the story? 01:02:52 Speaker 3: That's the story here? But I just thought it was like, yeah, I think regardless, it's so confusing, But I find it to be so precious and charming. And I I thought to myself, I know how much you And and for the listener, Bridgard just did. 01:03:06 Speaker 1: Something that I had to complete. 01:03:08 Speaker 3: It stopped my heart, which was that he so he rested the pig in the taxi salt and pepper shaker on his laptop and then sort of nuzzled his black raspberry lacroix just gently against it, so that actually it completes the scene. Folks, the pig driving the taxi has crashed into the lacroix, and. 01:03:30 Speaker 1: Of course he did. He was probably distracted by this giant can of sparkling lass, I said. 01:03:35 Speaker 3: And then you know, he said, the cans of water should not be that big. You know, I've seen a lot in my day as a pig taxi driver, but that is a first. 01:03:43 Speaker 1: This is me doing someone's job for them exactly. 01:03:45 Speaker 3: And he said, also, honey, black raspberry, what that means? Honey? What what do you mean by that? What's that taste like? Is it black or ras? 01:03:55 Speaker 1: And he's not getting a sip. 01:04:00 Speaker 3: Well, so I guess my challenge to you is and this is not usually part of it, but I was thinking out loud listen. I know that you hate gifts, but are you really mad looking at this little I. 01:04:12 Speaker 1: Couldn't possibly do. This is one of these you know, the amount of gifts I get on this podcast is other worldly at this point. Sure, so many of them just end up in my garage because they can't be in a home, an adult home, or it just starts to look like you're gathering garbage. This is going to go on the kitchen counter. 01:04:29 Speaker 3: I'm so. 01:04:30 Speaker 1: I have several ideas already. 01:04:32 Speaker 3: Oh my, I mean, I just think it's so homey, it's so sweettas mine's on my work desk. And I bet if you fill it up with salt and I fill up mine with pepper or whatever, and we use it, I bet one of us our hands will start to roll or something. Something will happen. 01:04:47 Speaker 1: Well, yeah, there'll be some mind meld of like one of us will be like, oh my god, their food isn't seasoned correctly. 01:04:54 Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, and then it's like I'm hungry and I got a call Bridger. Yeah yeah, that's really. 01:04:58 Speaker 1: What They're so happy about this. And you went whitewater rafting before getting it, I did. Can you believe for the first time? Yes, how was that? 01:05:06 Speaker 3: You know, it was really it was truly extremely fun. Oh jealous, it was really fun. It was a couple's trip. Okay, we hadn't gone really on a proper couples trip. It was us and our friends Carry and Joey and and they're fantastic and we love them so much, and you know, it's always like, it's not I didn't feel like we were taking a gamble with them because they're so easy right to hang out with. But you you're always like, what's gonna happen? 01:05:27 Speaker 1: You never know people's vacation styles. Is that nuts all over the place. 01:05:31 Speaker 3: Have you ever had like one go seriously awry? 01:05:33 Speaker 1: Thank God? 01:05:33 Speaker 3: No? 01:05:34 Speaker 1: But it could happen at any moment. You never know people, I mean the moment you go on a vacation with a stranger, yeah, or not a stranger, a friend who you have never done it with. 01:05:43 Speaker 4: Yeah. 01:05:43 Speaker 1: It could be a full experience, ruining thing completely because people just do different things completely. 01:05:50 Speaker 3: And I also like, I mean, maybe it's easier with couples because it's so much more natural to branch off and do your couple right on t to take a three hour break or we're actually getting on a walk or whatever. Group trips I think is really the ground zero. 01:06:03 Speaker 1: Oh, of course toxic the things that can happen with a group of people. Uh, and tensions are you know, while traveling are high peoples, they're less savory. Qualities can come out. Yes, And then with a group trip you can start bonding against each other. Oh, you can form Oh my god, I mean it becomes survival. 01:06:22 Speaker 3: It can become survivor and alliances. 01:06:24 Speaker 1: And alliances happened, and then that could end friendships. 01:06:29 Speaker 3: It makes me like my heart is like palpatator. 01:06:31 Speaker 1: Have you had a bad one? 01:06:33 Speaker 3: Yes? Absolutely? 01:06:35 Speaker 1: Oh god, yeah, really tough to end a friendship? Yeah, Actually, can you say where it was or will it give away? 01:06:45 Speaker 3: I can't imagine that this is going to make it back to the person. Okay, it could actually No, it doesn't matter. I don't care. Yeah. Yeah, it happened in New Orleans. 01:06:54 Speaker 1: Oh and it should be such a good time. I know, just a good time. I've been watching Secret Lives of Mormon wives and they just went to New Orleans on a girl's trip. What happened did not go well? 01:07:03 Speaker 3: You were like, it went perfect? I ever seen It's like little house on the Prairie that episode of Realize of Mormon lines a sort of Christian No. 01:07:12 Speaker 1: They played pregnancy roulette, which I don't know if I wasn't aware of. 01:07:17 Speaker 3: This, missus Ransom. 01:07:18 Speaker 1: I mean, these are all women like essentially thirty and under who are desperate to be pregnant at all times having children, and for whatever reason they decided to play pregnancy roulette, which is you get pregnancy tests and then everybody peace on them, you know, well of course, and then they like put them in a you put them in a jar and then pull them out one by one to see if someone in the group is pregnant. But it remains anonymous. 01:07:45 Speaker 3: Baffling, that's not that is absolutely not a thing that exists anywhere else outside of that ship. 01:07:52 Speaker 1: I can't imagine why would you do the show? 01:07:54 Speaker 3: Unwell? Also, like also just even hygienically speaking, the jar of pissed on Oh and you're reaching in no. 01:08:02 Speaker 1: Get your favorite snacks as well food. 01:08:05 Speaker 3: Yeah, you've got the mixed nuts here, and you've got the peepe sticks there, and then it's sort of like, oh, one of us is pregnant, okay, and it's sort of like so then it's like, well, I guess they're Mormon, so they don't drink. 01:08:17 Speaker 1: No, they well, it's unclear with this group of people. Yeah, that's kind of their secret life. And one of them, I mean, meanwhile, I'm like, this show is so dangerous for these people because one of them has been struggling with fertility and just like trying to get pregnant. She is my least favorite character on the show, and I do hate her, but in this moment, she ye, you know, He're like, it's a compelling you know, Oh my god, Like, how could this person? Like why are they doing this to this person? 01:08:41 Speaker 3: Should I watch this? 01:08:44 Speaker 1: Literally impossible for me to say at this point, I'm going to say, yes, okay, what guided you to that? I think, especially for someone who didn't grow up in that culture, is fascinating totally because it's just unlike any other behavior. Do you see adults they're not quite adults, I guess, because they're all quite young, but they're the arrested development going on. 01:09:10 Speaker 3: Completely. 01:09:11 Speaker 1: It's all very strange. 01:09:13 Speaker 2: Now. 01:09:13 Speaker 3: I guess I'm sort of realizing in real time that I think I did watch the first few episodes of the first season because this is a new show, yes, right, and this is like the one that's like the big like who who. At the beginning is that there was like a thing online where they they're TikTok. 01:09:26 Speaker 1: Yes, and they're all like, maybe there was just swingers scandal which haunts them for the apparently the rest of their lives. 01:09:33 Speaker 3: And was that real or is that something that I have to continue. 01:09:36 Speaker 1: To be a mystery. I'll be honest. There you get more and more details, but everybody's story is different, and my my grand theory is that none of them has any idea what swinging even is. 01:09:47 Speaker 3: It's like that's the thing, right, It's like maybe one one kissed. 01:09:51 Speaker 1: Someone, right, That's where it's like. At one point, I think they do bring up spin the bottle. 01:09:56 Speaker 3: I literally was about to say spin the bottle as a bit. It's so crazy, it's. 01:09:59 Speaker 1: Like Disney brain, yeah yeah. But then another one claims they were all showering together. So it's like we're big swings between behaviors. But I don't know that we'll ever really know what happened within the swinging community in Utah with these gals. My guess is somewhere in between, you know what, I'm gonna watch watch it and let me know you think I will, well, I think we should play a game. Okay, we'll play a game called Gifter a Curse. Okay, so let me get our game pieces here. Do you have anything to currently promote? No, people should be following you on social media? 01:10:37 Speaker 3: Sure, yeah, I mean I listen. I'm at Katie kat Y Official FI s H E l L on Instagram. I have a defunct cartoon account called at sex Underscore is underscore weird. 01:10:56 Speaker 1: I'm worth checking out for sure. 01:10:58 Speaker 3: Both are worth checking out. Absolutely. I have an updated that cartoon account about three years. But I do cartoons, I do animations, and I'm currently working on a book that will be out goodness, gracious, who knows when. 01:11:12 Speaker 1: I can't imagine? 01:11:13 Speaker 3: And that's that's about it. 01:11:15 Speaker 1: I would say, everybody type Katie Fisher into wherever you want and just go crazy. Just okay, this is how we play Gift or Curse. I'm going to name three things. You'll tell me if they're a gift or a curse and why. Okay, I'll t if you're right or wrong, because there are correct ants, totally all right. This first one is from a listener named Matt. Gift or a Curse car, d excuse me, gift you a curse car decals that say mommy AF or daddy AF. 01:11:43 Speaker 3: Curse why? Because that's insane. It's it's the same thing as any sort of I feel strongly about any bumper sticker with an attitude, any sort of like to me, that's like honestly akin to like a sort of slick and a girl big boob, you know, in the window. 01:12:04 Speaker 1: I just think it's like, why would you why? That's the first impression, right right, and maybe the only impression. 01:12:10 Speaker 3: Maybe the only impression, Am I right? 01:12:14 Speaker 1: Correct? 01:12:15 Speaker 3: That's okay. I was so scared of like I don't know you at all. 01:12:18 Speaker 1: I can't look. I have a lot of opinions and a lot of thoughts and a lot of things, but a mommy AF or daddy AF who it's And it's also the new culture of trying to put attitude on being a parent, That's what I'm saying, which is so annoying. 01:12:32 Speaker 3: That's what that's referring to, you know. 01:12:34 Speaker 1: I think it's like kind of trying to be like I'm a mother, which shows this weird insecurity about being a parent. I think where it's just like, well, you made the choice own it. Don't try to turn it into your new edgy. That's lifestyle real. 01:12:47 Speaker 3: I guess you know what. I guess because of the af of it all, it felt young enough and internety enough that I thought it was like weird kink stuff. 01:12:55 Speaker 1: Oh and it could be. It could be, which is still annoying on it as a bumper sticker. 01:12:59 Speaker 3: And why would you ever want to even blur those lines? If you have like your sweet precious sun in the back right going on your first like Easter Sunday trip, why would you ever want you? 01:13:11 Speaker 1: And I totally agree. 01:13:12 Speaker 3: It's like this, like, isn't it so ironic that I'm a dad? 01:13:15 Speaker 1: No? No, it's not. 01:13:17 Speaker 3: You made a choice deal with this. 01:13:19 Speaker 1: Yes, you're raising a human being at this point. Please, you have some level of earnestness. 01:13:24 Speaker 3: You have to just take this seriously. 01:13:26 Speaker 1: Yes, And you're absolutely correct there, I will say there, How do you feel about new I feel like there's been like a bumper sticker renaissance, where like there are new bumper stickers where like sometimes I'll find myself like, oh, that is a good bumper sticker. For example, I think someone that drives around Highland Park has one that I think says why litter shove it up your ass? 01:13:44 Speaker 3: Oh that's nice, which is just sure. 01:13:49 Speaker 1: And occasionally there's one where I'm like, I feel like there's one where it says something about like the whole car is being run by a team of rats. 01:13:56 Speaker 3: Oh yeah. Sometimes I'm like, well, maybe there's some decent bumper stickers if you think of the key honking I'm listening to, and then like a very specific we've done it too much, it's over. 01:14:05 Speaker 1: Yeah, I think if we're going to do keep honking, we need a whole new variation. I agree, but I think that there have been and I think we're kind of we need to put that one back on the shelf. 01:14:14 Speaker 3: Keep honking. I literally have a gun in my mouth and my hand is shaking and my fingers on the trigger, and if you do it one more time, I might do it. Just do what I dare you keep honking? 01:14:23 Speaker 1: Yes, my thought was keep honking. My mom died last summer, and I just can handle anything at this point. I think, yeah, if you're gonna go, you have to really get into life details, you know. 01:14:34 Speaker 3: I do like a bumper sticker that's long in a big overshare. Yes, I think that's pretty nice. 01:14:38 Speaker 1: Maybe that's the new category. Yeah, but yeah, bumper stickers. I'll never have one. I don't think I'll ever have a bumper sticker. No, but okay, you got that one correct. Number two. This is from Brittany Gift or a curse. When the restaurant cashier asks if you want sauce, you say no, only to find multiple sauces in the bag of food anyway. 01:14:59 Speaker 3: Gift why, because, I mean, I think it really depends on what we're doing here, you know, if this is like a fry or. 01:15:09 Speaker 1: You know, I think you know what you know. 01:15:11 Speaker 3: Here's their actual reason. And this is maybe just a me thing, but sometimes I panic in situations like that, and I'm like, I don't want to be difficult. I'll do the shortest way out of this. Yes, no, thank you, have a nice day. And then I'm eating something and I'm like, God, I wish I had a sauce, even just to have the option. And also even if the thing that I'm eating doesn't require a sauce, Guess where that sauce is going, right in the fridge. 01:15:37 Speaker 1: Oh yeah, of course. 01:15:38 Speaker 3: Guess what I'm making the next day something that that sauce will go nicely on? Am I right or am I wrong? 01:15:43 Speaker 1: Correct? 01:15:43 Speaker 2: Ah? 01:15:44 Speaker 1: Oh it's a kif. How could you possibly think this is a curse? This is very Grandma energy. Whoever is giving you the extra sauces is looking out for you exactly. They're seeing there like I actually know what you need. 01:15:55 Speaker 3: Yeah, it's like the note in the lunchbox completely. 01:15:58 Speaker 1: Yeah, it's such a it's a real sweet gesture. They see what you need. The cashier, anyone in charge of a sauce ultimately knows better than you totally. Why would you complain about that you got a free little X or something for the fridge or potentially to experiment with your food? Yes? Who cares? That's a gift, a game they're playing with you. Okay, you've gone too so far, very nice And where is the final one? 01:16:26 Speaker 2: Here? 01:16:29 Speaker 1: Wow? I've highlight these in a way that is almost blinding. I'll be honest. Okay, Oh here we go. Here it is. This is from a listener named Ruth Gift or a Curse, beginning a social media post with here's the thing curse correct? Why would you have to say anything else? 01:16:55 Speaker 3: Why would you I would say any one of those camp sort of like like when you when you post like a best friend and you start a long post with this one, oh you know what. 01:17:06 Speaker 4: I mean, or like I don't normally uh huh, you know, not to be too emotional or whatever, to be abundantly clear, to. 01:17:18 Speaker 3: Be abundantly clear. 01:17:19 Speaker 1: Uh, what's what other ones are there? You've said this one a lot. 01:17:26 Speaker 3: Of people have, or like they're recently. I mean, of course like that, there's been a lot of allegations. 01:17:35 Speaker 1: But yeah, I feel like there are so many of those where and there's always like who was ground zero? Who's the first person that type this? That was just like here's what I'm thinking, yes, and then it caught on the post went viral, and then suddenly that phrases just somebody thinks, oh, this is how you speak, this is how you would announced, this is how you write a post. 01:17:51 Speaker 3: Which was the one that Ruth said, here's the thing, here's the thing. 01:17:54 Speaker 1: Oh, shut up, what do you think that's that's in reference to let's see, here's the thing, here's the thing. And yeah, there's like a particular type of posts that this here's the thing, and it usually isn't the thing. It's like, it's not It's like it doesn't really mean it's a meaningless beginning to a total like it's like memish. We need to find a way to describe the sort of Internet language where yeah, it is almost a meme, right right, here's the thing. And then it would be like. 01:18:28 Speaker 3: I feel like it's like a rant. It's it's a it's a it's a ramp. 01:18:32 Speaker 1: Into into some annoying opinion. 01:18:35 Speaker 3: I don't normally feel this way about the taco stand, but they got they gave me extra sauce and I specifically said none. And as someone who is very mindful about food waste, you know what I mean, it's like, here's the thing. 01:18:50 Speaker 1: Yeah. And also beginning any post, no post should be more than two sentences anyway, So if you're saying here's the thing, and that having to lay out a bunch of stuff, get a substack or something so we can orre you folly. 01:19:00 Speaker 3: Unless it's like here's the thing, I'm engaged. 01:19:05 Speaker 1: I do feel like there are a lot of here's the thing where it's like I don't like this and blah blah blah, and then it like becomes like a tribute to somebody about their personality or how cool they are. 01:19:15 Speaker 3: Totally, so lame, totally, and I find it's like I don't even I the only times I will read and really like interact with a very long you know, onslaught of whatever is like death posts of any kind of course, right, it's like, yeah, like and there's and there are people have mixed feelings about that, and I understand why because it's like the question of who's it for? But it's like, I don't know. I think in this day and age, you want to let people know something that. 01:19:45 Speaker 1: Yeah, and I also think that that is ultimately just for the person too. Yeah. 01:19:49 Speaker 3: I agree. 01:19:49 Speaker 1: Sometimes you especially with really serious things, it's like do whatever you need to do. 01:19:53 Speaker 3: I agree. It's it's like, you know, it's I've only had to do that once in my life. But it was like, I don't know, cathartic nice and you're sharing and it's communal and whatever. But anyway, it's like you know, pets like people whatever. It's like, I really, you know, I'm down for it and I read it and it's sweet and it's nice and it's like a moment out of your day where you sit with that person or that pet anyway, but you can't be saying like an opinion, and you can't just be talking. 01:20:19 Speaker 1: About a memory, right, And the other thing about here's the thing is I kind of like that phrase. I think when it properly use, I feel like it's like a tough person to you. You know, somebody's really tough when they're saying here's the thing, and then they're telling you, yeah, it's like a good aunt or uncle pulling you aside. Here's the thing. Yeah, giving you some information. But if it's my cousin, shut up, shut up, you got it. I don't want to see here's the thing. On Instagram here's the thing. 01:20:46 Speaker 3: And it's like a picture of them like walking through a meadow and it's like the saturation's really weird, and they have like a white dress and like cowboy boots. There's like a chain link fence, you know what I mean. 01:20:57 Speaker 1: It's like, we are not doing that here's the thing. I don't usually mix formal in the Western. 01:21:01 Speaker 3: Left, but today, on this Wednesday, I said, I actually said it's time. And actually every year I feel like I've become more and more of myself and I just want to honor that because I feel like as women, as women also as women, sorry, as women. As a woman, I can say, I mean genuinely, it's like, we gotta get away from it. We can't be doing these like stamp No, it diminishes everything you have to say. Yeah, I will say, you want to know what's really delicious? When you're talking shit and someone says, here's the thing. 01:21:36 Speaker 1: Oh yeah, of course, here's the thing. Oh yeah, Oh yeah. 01:21:41 Speaker 3: Dude, I was just out. This is not at all what we're talking about. But I was just out at dinner and we all realized it at the same time that we all had the same shared dislike for someone, and I haven't had that in so long. 01:21:55 Speaker 1: The best. Oh my god, I'm gonna we have to circle back after the recording. I doubt if I know this person. 01:22:02 Speaker 3: I doubt you did. 01:22:03 Speaker 1: Oh okay, but you might. Okay for the full circle, okay, and we should wrap up for everyone, But I do I'm quickly going to say along those lines when I want to. If I've heard a story about someone I hate, or if I've heard gossip about somebody, I text another friend, Yes have you heard about blank? And the first And I'm not a big lol person, not really into it at all, But if somebody responds to that question with lowercase lol. My heart sores. Oh, because it's like that they know exactly what I'm talking about and they're ready to get into it. 01:22:37 Speaker 3: Oh my god, it is the most It's like, the lowercase lol is the most like I see you, I see you, and I have so much to say. It's not interesting the way that language develops that way. Yes, it's really like who buddy, Oh, I got something for you. 01:22:54 Speaker 1: Oh my god, so satisfying. It's like a warm bath. Yeah. Oh well, we're not going to answer. We've answered every question we possibly could today. 01:23:02 Speaker 3: I think, so what a Delighttie. 01:23:05 Speaker 1: I'm so glad you could do the podcask you so much. 01:23:07 Speaker 3: I truly had a blast. Bonnie was here. 01:23:09 Speaker 1: What this is such a fully formed episode. This is easily I would say, a top five episode of the whole show, get out top five. 01:23:18 Speaker 3: Do you say this to everyone? 01:23:19 Speaker 1: No? Absolutely, I want to start telling people this is a bottom three and. 01:23:24 Speaker 3: Maybe you should step it up in the future, and maybe you should get it together and you should work on you. Here's the thing. 01:23:31 Speaker 1: Here's the thing. We're deleting the audio. 01:23:36 Speaker 3: We're putting a different guest. 01:23:38 Speaker 1: No, Oh my god, I knew you would be fantastic. 01:23:41 Speaker 3: I had so much fun. 01:23:42 Speaker 1: Thank you for being listener.
