He's very concerned. 0:04:51.080 --> 0:04:53.760 One thing I want you to understand about Colossi, there's 0:04:53.800 --> 0:04:57.800 really no historical indication that Paul had ever been there. 0:04:59.040 --> 0:05:01.720 He had not visited this church. And you'll see in 0:05:01.760 --> 0:05:05.039 our study today. Something convicting to me this week is 0:05:05.400 --> 0:05:09.640 Paul is extremely concerned about this church because it's a church, 0:05:10.040 --> 0:05:13.040 it's part of the Church universal. Uh. He has this 0:05:13.120 --> 0:05:16.440 pastor that has visited him while he is in jail 0:05:16.560 --> 0:05:19.240 in Rome on house arrest and says, hey, I got 0:05:19.240 --> 0:05:22.839 a problem. I'm in over my head. I've got the Judaizers. 0:05:23.279 --> 0:05:26.000 Uh they're they're in here sprinkling some of this legalism 0:05:26.240 --> 0:05:28.520 from the Old Covenant. I'm fighting that. I got the 0:05:28.560 --> 0:05:31.480 Gnostics in here. They're coming in here with some weird 0:05:31.560 --> 0:05:36.520 mysticism and kind of a commendation of odd things. And 0:05:36.560 --> 0:05:40.200 they're they're they're teaching bad theology. And and Paul goes 0:05:40.279 --> 0:05:42.920 right into action and he writes and sends with this 0:05:43.000 --> 0:05:46.520 pastor back, Hey, let me remind you of the Gospel. 0:05:46.640 --> 0:05:49.720 Let me remind you of who Jesus is. And so 0:05:50.080 --> 0:05:54.080 he has spent time reminding them about the deity of Christ. 0:05:54.200 --> 0:05:57.480 That's the thing that's that's really being debated by those 0:05:57.520 --> 0:06:00.960 that are trying to influence this this little church, and 0:06:01.000 --> 0:06:05.320 they're trying to take away or dethrone Jesus. They certainly 0:06:05.320 --> 0:06:08.880 believe in Jesus, but they dethrone Jesus. And the one 0:06:08.920 --> 0:06:12.120 thing that they keep taking issue with is the deity 0:06:12.160 --> 0:06:17.159 of Christ. So Paul has reminded them of that. And 0:06:17.200 --> 0:06:19.599 now when he gets into two, what he wants to 0:06:19.600 --> 0:06:22.039 do is say, I want you to experience the truth, 0:06:22.080 --> 0:06:24.960 but I want you to experience where the issues are. 0:06:25.240 --> 0:06:28.200 And't that important If you're ever discipling someone or you're 0:06:28.200 --> 0:06:32.240 helping somebody and they're getting bad theology, we can't just 0:06:32.360 --> 0:06:34.920 tell them it's bad theology. We got to tell them. 0:06:35.000 --> 0:06:37.360 Let me tell you why it's bad theology. Here's what's 0:06:37.400 --> 0:06:39.840 wrong with it. And so what Paul wants to do 0:06:39.880 --> 0:06:41.400 is saying, I want you to know the truth about 0:06:41.440 --> 0:06:44.559 this cult. Uh when when a person kept calling 0:07:20.320 --> 0:07:22.360 the show on my day job, and because we do 0:07:22.400 --> 0:07:24.760 talk about our faith even on the day job, and 0:07:24.800 --> 0:07:28.920 he said, we're just part of Christianity. We're just another denomination. 0:07:29.560 --> 0:07:31.920 And I said, so you're telling me what y'all believe 0:07:32.120 --> 0:07:34.840 is no different than what I believe in the Bible. 0:07:34.920 --> 0:07:37.720 He said, that's right, We're just another denomination. I said, 0:07:37.720 --> 0:07:41.400 so I don't need the Book of Mormon. The first part of that 0:08:51.880 --> 0:08:53.400 for I want you to know, this is the Paul. 0:08:53.440 --> 0:08:56.079 This is Paul. I want you to know how great 0:08:56.120 --> 0:09:00.120 a struggle I have for you. And for those at 0:09:00.200 --> 0:09:03.680 Leiah Decilla, we'll talk about that, and for all who 0:09:03.720 --> 0:09:08.320 have not seen me face to face that their hearts 0:09:08.760 --> 0:09:12.800 may be encouraged being knit together in love. Uh, I'm just gonna worry about 0:10:04.880 --> 0:10:06.880 what I'm doing at my local church. I mean, we 0:10:07.320 --> 0:10:11.920 have brothers and sisters being slaughtered by Muslims because they 0:10:11.920 --> 0:10:15.240 will not denounce Jesus. And you really have a hard 0:10:15.240 --> 0:10:19.520 time finding anybody who cares that. It's a pretty big deal. 0:10:19.880 --> 0:10:22.560 And Paul says, we need to make the problems of 0:10:22.600 --> 0:10:25.720 our brothers and sisters our own. And so he's gonna 0:10:25.800 --> 0:10:30.880 call the believers in the church to experience the truth. 0:10:31.160 --> 0:10:34.000 And then he's going to expose the lie. This was not some you would think like 0:13:09.600 --> 0:13:12.400 these other churches that were in these meccas. It really wasn't. 0:13:12.480 --> 0:13:15.920 It was a small town. And so he didn't think 0:13:15.960 --> 0:13:20.000 that uh he had uh, he had issues in Rome. 0:13:20.080 --> 0:13:23.640 But Colossie and apparently layah de Sea, where they were 0:13:23.679 --> 0:13:26.000 in the thick of a battle themselves, and he found 0:13:26.080 --> 0:13:28.920 their battle to be at least either more important than 0:13:28.960 --> 0:13:31.600 his own or at least as important as his own. 0:13:31.640 --> 0:13:34.040 Now Laya to Sea was different.
