1 00:00:00,160 --> 00:00:02,920 Speaker 1: Welcome back to the Giants Huttle Podcast. John Schmulk back 2 00:00:03,000 --> 00:00:04,800 Speaker 1: with you, and it's time for part two of our 3 00:00:04,800 --> 00:00:08,280 Speaker 1: reporters mock Draft. I found the reporter that covers every 4 00:00:08,360 --> 00:00:12,360 Speaker 1: NFL team that picks between one and thirty six, where 5 00:00:12,400 --> 00:00:15,160 Speaker 1: the Giants have their second round pick. You already heard 6 00:00:15,200 --> 00:00:17,200 Speaker 1: part one. You can find it on Giants dot com, 7 00:00:17,239 --> 00:00:20,759 Speaker 1: the Giants Mobile app, or on all your favorite podcast platforms. 8 00:00:20,760 --> 00:00:23,800 Speaker 1: Where we had picks one through sixteen. The highlight Poul 9 00:00:23,840 --> 00:00:26,400 Speaker 1: Schwartz at number four, selecting Isaiah Simmons for the New 10 00:00:26,440 --> 00:00:29,320 Speaker 1: York Giants. He will rejoin us to wrap up this 11 00:00:29,440 --> 00:00:32,520 Speaker 1: mock draft to pick thirty six. So we pick up 12 00:00:33,080 --> 00:00:37,560 Speaker 1: part two with selection number seventeen and round number one. 13 00:00:37,880 --> 00:00:40,320 Speaker 1: Fellow team in the NFC East. We will go a 14 00:00:40,320 --> 00:00:42,479 Speaker 1: little bit longer on this one because they are arrival 15 00:00:42,479 --> 00:00:46,360 Speaker 1: of the New York Football Giants. We thank de Orlando 16 00:00:46,440 --> 00:00:49,280 Speaker 1: lad Better from the Atlanta Falcons who took C. J. Henderson, 17 00:00:49,760 --> 00:00:53,599 Speaker 1: which I imagine might make David Hellman from Dallas Cowboys 18 00:00:53,640 --> 00:00:56,560 Speaker 1: dot Com a little bit annoyed. Yeah, well a little 19 00:00:56,560 --> 00:00:59,240 Speaker 1: bit annoyed because I do think, you know, all things 20 00:00:59,280 --> 00:01:02,720 Speaker 1: being equal, I think C j Henderson is the cowboys 21 00:01:02,800 --> 00:01:06,240 Speaker 1: pipe dream of a first round pick. But I'm also 22 00:01:06,319 --> 00:01:09,520 Speaker 1: a little bit relieved because I'm looking at the options 23 00:01:09,520 --> 00:01:11,520 Speaker 1: that have been taken off the board in front of me, 24 00:01:12,120 --> 00:01:14,520 Speaker 1: and it makes my job pretty easy. And if it 25 00:01:14,560 --> 00:01:16,600 Speaker 1: falls this way for the Cowboys on draft night, I 26 00:01:16,600 --> 00:01:18,520 Speaker 1: think it will make their jobs pretty easy as well. 27 00:01:18,880 --> 00:01:20,520 Speaker 1: By the way, you can find David Helmet on Dallas 28 00:01:20,560 --> 00:01:22,320 Speaker 1: Cowboys dot com also one of the hosts of their 29 00:01:22,400 --> 00:01:24,080 Speaker 1: Draft Show, which, by the way, is a great podcast 30 00:01:24,080 --> 00:01:25,520 Speaker 1: even if you're not a Cowboys fan. They do a 31 00:01:25,520 --> 00:01:27,240 Speaker 1: real good job covering the draft. Make sure you go 32 00:01:27,319 --> 00:01:30,160 Speaker 1: check it out. Um, Dave, besides Henderson, who else are 33 00:01:30,160 --> 00:01:33,080 Speaker 1: the Cowboys sitting here kind of you know, crossing their figures, 34 00:01:33,120 --> 00:01:35,560 Speaker 1: hoping might drop to him at seventeen where they get 35 00:01:35,600 --> 00:01:39,280 Speaker 1: some real good value for him. I think you look 36 00:01:39,319 --> 00:01:42,480 Speaker 1: at and I know everybody talks about, you know, you 37 00:01:42,520 --> 00:01:45,560 Speaker 1: take the best player regardless of need. But I've I've 38 00:01:45,600 --> 00:01:47,520 Speaker 1: always felt that that's a little bit of a lie. 39 00:01:47,960 --> 00:01:50,440 Speaker 1: You know, if the best player available at seventeen was 40 00:01:50,440 --> 00:01:53,320 Speaker 1: a running back, there's absolutely no way the Cowboys are 41 00:01:53,320 --> 00:01:55,480 Speaker 1: going to draft him, you know. With Ezekiel Elliott and 42 00:01:55,480 --> 00:01:57,640 Speaker 1: Tony Pollard already on the roster. That doesn't make sense. 43 00:01:57,680 --> 00:02:00,000 Speaker 1: So you look at the areas of need and where 44 00:02:00,080 --> 00:02:03,160 Speaker 1: it lines up with pick seventeen. Cornerback is a big one. 45 00:02:03,600 --> 00:02:06,000 Speaker 1: We know they like c J. Henderson, They've talked to 46 00:02:06,120 --> 00:02:08,720 Speaker 1: Christian Fulton out of l s u UH. They've had 47 00:02:08,760 --> 00:02:11,480 Speaker 1: an eye on Jeff Gladen, he out of TCU. But 48 00:02:11,520 --> 00:02:15,120 Speaker 1: then for me, the other one's obviously pass rusher. Robert 49 00:02:15,160 --> 00:02:17,520 Speaker 1: Quinn left in free agency. He went to Chicago on 50 00:02:17,520 --> 00:02:21,960 Speaker 1: a gigantic contract. The Cowboys signed Alton Smith, but the 51 00:02:21,960 --> 00:02:26,000 Speaker 1: guy hasn't played. Same thing kind of goes for Randy Gregory. 52 00:02:26,080 --> 00:02:29,400 Speaker 1: Neither one of those guys has officially been been reinstated 53 00:02:29,480 --> 00:02:33,320 Speaker 1: by the league from suspension. So if you're counting on that, 54 00:02:33,520 --> 00:02:36,040 Speaker 1: I think you're kind of crazy. And that's why I 55 00:02:36,160 --> 00:02:39,760 Speaker 1: keep circling back to Caleb and Jason um the You know, 56 00:02:39,800 --> 00:02:43,240 Speaker 1: he's a right end hybrid rush linebacker, defensive end out 57 00:02:43,240 --> 00:02:47,600 Speaker 1: of L s u UH. Super athletic, super talented, got 58 00:02:47,600 --> 00:02:50,600 Speaker 1: a lot of upside. He's only twenty years old, doesn't 59 00:02:50,680 --> 00:02:54,120 Speaker 1: have the on field production that you probably would prefer 60 00:02:54,240 --> 00:02:58,040 Speaker 1: from a top twenty pick, but again, a guy much upside. 61 00:02:58,040 --> 00:03:00,760 Speaker 1: It's it's hard not to be intrigued. Cowboys and Giants 62 00:03:00,840 --> 00:03:03,680 Speaker 1: Dave are in similar situations. They carry over the front office. 63 00:03:03,720 --> 00:03:06,040 Speaker 1: Obviously the Jones is always gonna make the calls there. 64 00:03:06,080 --> 00:03:08,600 Speaker 1: The Giants still of Dave Gentleman, but a new coaching staff. 65 00:03:08,840 --> 00:03:11,560 Speaker 1: And I know from our perspective, we really don't know 66 00:03:11,680 --> 00:03:14,360 Speaker 1: for sure exactly what Patrick Graham's defense is gonna look like. 67 00:03:14,600 --> 00:03:17,200 Speaker 1: So you guys are trying to talk about prospects for 68 00:03:17,400 --> 00:03:20,480 Speaker 1: Cowboys defense, do you even know what Mike Nolan's trying 69 00:03:20,520 --> 00:03:22,240 Speaker 1: to do with the front and and and and how 70 00:03:22,280 --> 00:03:25,160 Speaker 1: he wants to play? Yeah, I mean that is that 71 00:03:25,320 --> 00:03:28,919 Speaker 1: is the dominant storyline around Dallas right now, is trying 72 00:03:28,960 --> 00:03:31,640 Speaker 1: to figure out just what that might look like. I 73 00:03:31,680 --> 00:03:34,680 Speaker 1: mean a great example is, you know, defensive tackle has 74 00:03:34,680 --> 00:03:36,760 Speaker 1: been a need for the Cowboys for years, and a 75 00:03:36,800 --> 00:03:39,400 Speaker 1: lot of people talk about Javon kin Law because of that. 76 00:03:39,880 --> 00:03:42,320 Speaker 1: But with Mike McCarthy and Mike Nolan in the building, 77 00:03:42,560 --> 00:03:45,640 Speaker 1: they go out and sign uh, not just Gerald McCoy, 78 00:03:45,680 --> 00:03:48,600 Speaker 1: but Dhantari Poe as well. Who you know, he played 79 00:03:48,880 --> 00:03:51,000 Speaker 1: a lot of four Uh, he played a lot in 80 00:03:51,000 --> 00:03:53,160 Speaker 1: a four man front. For Carolina last year, but he 81 00:03:53,280 --> 00:03:56,400 Speaker 1: really made his name playing as a three four defensive tackle. 82 00:03:57,040 --> 00:03:59,520 Speaker 1: Um and Steven Jones actually went on the radio in 83 00:03:59,600 --> 00:04:02,560 Speaker 1: Dallas on Tuesday afternoon and was talking about how they 84 00:04:02,560 --> 00:04:04,720 Speaker 1: would have never shown an interest in a player like 85 00:04:04,760 --> 00:04:08,040 Speaker 1: that when Rod Marinelli was their defensive coordinator. So I 86 00:04:08,080 --> 00:04:11,240 Speaker 1: think you're jumping to conclusions thinking that Mike Nolan is 87 00:04:11,240 --> 00:04:13,320 Speaker 1: going to turn this into its three four defense. But 88 00:04:13,400 --> 00:04:15,960 Speaker 1: I do think they want to be much more versatile, 89 00:04:16,040 --> 00:04:18,800 Speaker 1: much more multiple, and it's gonna look a lot different. 90 00:04:18,800 --> 00:04:21,000 Speaker 1: And that's it's definitely a challenge for us to cover 91 00:04:21,080 --> 00:04:23,760 Speaker 1: the team because you've got to consider all different types 92 00:04:23,800 --> 00:04:27,039 Speaker 1: of players. And then you know, there's the the years 93 00:04:27,080 --> 00:04:30,400 Speaker 1: old joke about the Cowboys not valuing the safety position. 94 00:04:30,680 --> 00:04:33,919 Speaker 1: Is that something that could change under Mike Nolan or 95 00:04:34,000 --> 00:04:36,560 Speaker 1: is that more of a front office philosophy. Should the 96 00:04:36,560 --> 00:04:39,760 Speaker 1: Cowboys be talking about Davier McKinney and Grant Delpit at 97 00:04:39,760 --> 00:04:42,760 Speaker 1: pick seventeen? Uh? If this was last year, I would 98 00:04:42,760 --> 00:04:45,560 Speaker 1: have said, no chance in hell, there's no way Rod 99 00:04:45,600 --> 00:04:47,599 Speaker 1: Marinelli and Jason Garrett are going to draft the safety 100 00:04:47,600 --> 00:04:49,800 Speaker 1: in the top twenty. But I don't think you can 101 00:04:49,880 --> 00:04:52,440 Speaker 1: rule it out when you're talking about this new staff. 102 00:04:53,000 --> 00:04:56,160 Speaker 1: That's interesting. So your thoughts here do you think a 103 00:04:56,279 --> 00:04:58,520 Speaker 1: trade ups possible? The Cowboys are gonna have a bunch 104 00:04:58,560 --> 00:05:01,120 Speaker 1: of depensatory picks and next years draft, So would they 105 00:05:01,120 --> 00:05:05,279 Speaker 1: be willing maybe to dip in to their one draft 106 00:05:05,600 --> 00:05:08,760 Speaker 1: capital to maybe move up here to get a guy 107 00:05:08,800 --> 00:05:11,000 Speaker 1: like Henderson if if they really value them that much 108 00:05:11,000 --> 00:05:15,440 Speaker 1: at Corner, I think it would have to be I 109 00:05:15,440 --> 00:05:18,240 Speaker 1: think it would have to be something kind of crazy. Um. 110 00:05:18,640 --> 00:05:20,719 Speaker 1: I don't know if they do that for C. J. Henderson, 111 00:05:20,760 --> 00:05:24,360 Speaker 1: Do they do it for Jeffrey Okuda? If for some 112 00:05:24,440 --> 00:05:27,400 Speaker 1: crazy reason he falls a little bit and he's still there, 113 00:05:27,440 --> 00:05:31,080 Speaker 1: you know, around pick nine or ten. Maybe Derek Brown 114 00:05:31,120 --> 00:05:33,560 Speaker 1: is another one. As soon as I saw his bad 115 00:05:33,600 --> 00:05:36,240 Speaker 1: three cone time at the combine, I thought, oh, if 116 00:05:36,240 --> 00:05:38,120 Speaker 1: this guy, you know, if this guy kind of falls 117 00:05:38,160 --> 00:05:40,800 Speaker 1: down towards ten or twelve, maybe the Cowboys are interested 118 00:05:40,800 --> 00:05:45,920 Speaker 1: in making a move. Uh. But no, I'd be surprised. Um, 119 00:05:45,960 --> 00:05:47,880 Speaker 1: they haven't done a ton of trading up over the 120 00:05:47,960 --> 00:05:51,359 Speaker 1: last five or six years, and I'm not convinced there's 121 00:05:51,400 --> 00:05:54,080 Speaker 1: a prospect that's such a slam dunk that they should 122 00:05:54,080 --> 00:05:56,159 Speaker 1: be doing that. If anything, I think a lot of 123 00:05:56,160 --> 00:05:59,320 Speaker 1: people in the Cowboys media and fan base would prefer 124 00:05:59,360 --> 00:06:01,640 Speaker 1: for them to trade it back. Maybe, you know, if 125 00:06:01,680 --> 00:06:03,920 Speaker 1: somebody like New England or New Orleans wants to come 126 00:06:04,000 --> 00:06:06,360 Speaker 1: up for a guy like Jordan's loves right around there, 127 00:06:06,440 --> 00:06:08,560 Speaker 1: pick seventeen, maybe you could add a pick or two 128 00:06:08,839 --> 00:06:10,760 Speaker 1: and you'll still have plenty of options, you like in 129 00:06:10,760 --> 00:06:14,280 Speaker 1: the mid twenties. I think that sounds more plausible than 130 00:06:14,360 --> 00:06:16,960 Speaker 1: jumping up, because, like I said, I'm just I'm not 131 00:06:17,000 --> 00:06:19,440 Speaker 1: convinced there's a prospect out there that they're gonna be 132 00:06:19,480 --> 00:06:21,200 Speaker 1: so smitten with that they feel like they have to 133 00:06:21,200 --> 00:06:23,479 Speaker 1: do it. Yeah, I got to imagine that becomes more likely, 134 00:06:23,560 --> 00:06:26,520 Speaker 1: right of both Chason and Henderson are gone, and maybe 135 00:06:26,560 --> 00:06:29,360 Speaker 1: the you know, best player left is a kin law, 136 00:06:29,440 --> 00:06:32,960 Speaker 1: than the trade down probably becomes more likely, right Yeah, 137 00:06:33,000 --> 00:06:35,840 Speaker 1: you know, even with the change in coaching staff, I 138 00:06:36,160 --> 00:06:38,599 Speaker 1: would have to see the Cowboys spend a top twenty 139 00:06:38,600 --> 00:06:40,720 Speaker 1: pick on a defensive tackle to believe that they would 140 00:06:40,720 --> 00:06:43,960 Speaker 1: do it. I just I don't think that they think 141 00:06:44,000 --> 00:06:46,400 Speaker 1: there's enough bang for their buck. So yeah, I mean, 142 00:06:46,680 --> 00:06:51,359 Speaker 1: Henderson and Chason I view as that's the best case scenario. 143 00:06:51,520 --> 00:06:53,400 Speaker 1: If one of if one of those guys are there, 144 00:06:53,800 --> 00:06:56,120 Speaker 1: or if both of them are somehow there, that's that's 145 00:06:56,160 --> 00:06:59,080 Speaker 1: your absolute best case scenario. If that's gone, and I 146 00:06:59,120 --> 00:07:00,960 Speaker 1: know you know in the scenario Areo we're dealing with, 147 00:07:01,680 --> 00:07:04,000 Speaker 1: all three of the big receivers are gone as well. 148 00:07:04,080 --> 00:07:07,360 Speaker 1: I think if one of those three of Judy Ruggs 149 00:07:07,680 --> 00:07:10,520 Speaker 1: or um Phobee Lamb was still sitting there, I think 150 00:07:10,560 --> 00:07:12,880 Speaker 1: they'd at least have to talk about it. Uh, they 151 00:07:12,920 --> 00:07:15,200 Speaker 1: don't have a slot receiver right now. They really only 152 00:07:15,240 --> 00:07:17,520 Speaker 1: have the duo of a Marii Cooper and Michael Gallup, 153 00:07:17,840 --> 00:07:20,280 Speaker 1: so they do need to do something about the receiver position. 154 00:07:20,720 --> 00:07:23,840 Speaker 1: I don't think they want to, which again, that's that's 155 00:07:23,840 --> 00:07:26,080 Speaker 1: what makes this scenario so easy for me, is that 156 00:07:26,120 --> 00:07:30,200 Speaker 1: they're kind of wiped out everywhere except for the one 157 00:07:30,240 --> 00:07:32,440 Speaker 1: big need, which is pass rusher. Which is why you know, 158 00:07:32,480 --> 00:07:34,640 Speaker 1: if I'm making the call, I would I would run 159 00:07:34,680 --> 00:07:37,200 Speaker 1: to the podium to draft Caleb and Jason. I've heard 160 00:07:37,200 --> 00:07:40,440 Speaker 1: some people whisper center here because of Travers Frederick announcing 161 00:07:40,480 --> 00:07:42,320 Speaker 1: his retirement, but to me that seems a little bit 162 00:07:42,440 --> 00:07:45,560 Speaker 1: rich at seventeen though, Yeah, that just feels like an 163 00:07:45,560 --> 00:07:48,280 Speaker 1: overreaction to me. Uh, you know, the Cowboys made the 164 00:07:48,280 --> 00:07:51,000 Speaker 1: playoffs two years ago with Joe Looney starting at center 165 00:07:51,080 --> 00:07:54,920 Speaker 1: when Travis was sick with gamba a syndrome. Looney is 166 00:07:54,920 --> 00:07:58,200 Speaker 1: still on the roster. They just drafted Connors Governed in 167 00:07:58,240 --> 00:08:01,040 Speaker 1: the top one hundred last year. Uh. They drafted him 168 00:08:01,040 --> 00:08:03,160 Speaker 1: as a guard, but he did start a whole season 169 00:08:03,200 --> 00:08:06,560 Speaker 1: at center, so they've got options. And and again, the 170 00:08:06,640 --> 00:08:09,360 Speaker 1: seventeen feels awfully rich for a center unless it's a 171 00:08:09,440 --> 00:08:13,760 Speaker 1: generational prospect. I know Peter King reported that they're high 172 00:08:13,800 --> 00:08:17,280 Speaker 1: on Caesar Us out of Michigan. And again, if they 173 00:08:17,280 --> 00:08:20,160 Speaker 1: were to trade back later in the first round with 174 00:08:20,280 --> 00:08:24,360 Speaker 1: somebody maybe that's more plub I would be pretty surprised 175 00:08:24,360 --> 00:08:27,040 Speaker 1: to see him do that at seventeen. Dave, also stuff, 176 00:08:27,080 --> 00:08:30,680 Speaker 1: my friend was making official Cowboys seventeenth overall pick in draft. 177 00:08:30,680 --> 00:08:33,439 Speaker 1: Who you got you gonna go with Calevan Chason out 178 00:08:33,440 --> 00:08:35,200 Speaker 1: of l s U and try to fix this Cowboys 179 00:08:35,200 --> 00:08:37,760 Speaker 1: pass rush. Good stuff, Dave. We really appreciated my friend. 180 00:08:37,800 --> 00:08:39,480 Speaker 1: Let's talking in down the road. Best to luck to you. 181 00:08:39,520 --> 00:08:43,400 Speaker 1: Stay safe anytime man, y'all to stay say thanks. We 182 00:08:43,480 --> 00:08:46,760 Speaker 1: thank David Hellman from Dallas Cowboys dot Com for joining us. 183 00:08:46,760 --> 00:08:50,240 Speaker 1: They select Calevan Chason. Now let's go. We welcome back 184 00:08:50,360 --> 00:08:54,280 Speaker 1: Armando Salgaro, who covers the Dolphins for the Miami Harold 185 00:08:54,360 --> 00:08:57,040 Speaker 1: already talked to him when they selected two earlier on 186 00:08:57,080 --> 00:08:59,920 Speaker 1: in this draft. Armando. Dolphins are up for their second 187 00:09:00,040 --> 00:09:03,400 Speaker 1: of three first round picks. Um, what are your thoughts 188 00:09:03,400 --> 00:09:05,560 Speaker 1: here in terms of how this draft has gone leading 189 00:09:05,600 --> 00:09:08,240 Speaker 1: up to the selection? Who maybe were you hoping might 190 00:09:08,280 --> 00:09:12,480 Speaker 1: be there but are unfortunately off the board. Yeah. My 191 00:09:12,600 --> 00:09:15,720 Speaker 1: thoughts on this draft, as um, as I was saying, 192 00:09:15,960 --> 00:09:21,079 Speaker 1: is I hate this draft because I want really good tackles, 193 00:09:21,360 --> 00:09:25,679 Speaker 1: and this draft shows that really good tackles go fast 194 00:09:26,000 --> 00:09:29,440 Speaker 1: in uh, in these exercises, as they will by the 195 00:09:29,480 --> 00:09:35,040 Speaker 1: way on April. So the Dolphins, they don't really have 196 00:09:35,360 --> 00:09:38,320 Speaker 1: a guy that they could plug in at left tackle 197 00:09:38,480 --> 00:09:43,320 Speaker 1: right now. Julian Davenport is on the roster. But you know, 198 00:09:44,120 --> 00:09:48,480 Speaker 1: if you're going to expend a lot of resources on 199 00:09:48,800 --> 00:09:53,640 Speaker 1: having your forever franchise quarterback at number five, you better 200 00:09:53,679 --> 00:09:57,560 Speaker 1: start figuring out a way to protect that guy. So, um, 201 00:09:57,600 --> 00:10:01,520 Speaker 1: so that's where I'm at. Okay, Well, would you think 202 00:10:01,640 --> 00:10:04,880 Speaker 1: there be a consideration and how much would what they 203 00:10:04,880 --> 00:10:07,400 Speaker 1: do with the first pick obviously impacted, where if they 204 00:10:07,400 --> 00:10:09,079 Speaker 1: have to move up a few spots to try to 205 00:10:09,120 --> 00:10:11,120 Speaker 1: grab one of those tackles, that they would use some 206 00:10:11,200 --> 00:10:14,679 Speaker 1: of your excess draft capital to go get somebody, or 207 00:10:14,840 --> 00:10:18,000 Speaker 1: if everything is liquidated, would they maybe think about moving 208 00:10:18,040 --> 00:10:20,200 Speaker 1: down if they had used some of their draft capital 209 00:10:20,240 --> 00:10:25,640 Speaker 1: to move up for two of them both. So in 210 00:10:25,960 --> 00:10:30,280 Speaker 1: this draft, obviously the Dolphins are sitting at eighteen, but 211 00:10:30,400 --> 00:10:35,400 Speaker 1: as you noted, they have excess draft capital, and I 212 00:10:35,440 --> 00:10:40,040 Speaker 1: would think that because that includes two second round picks, 213 00:10:40,920 --> 00:10:45,200 Speaker 1: um they've got you know, five picks in the top seventy, 214 00:10:45,240 --> 00:10:47,920 Speaker 1: they would be willing to move up to try to 215 00:10:48,080 --> 00:10:52,679 Speaker 1: get to one of those top three or four offensive tackles. 216 00:10:53,480 --> 00:10:56,240 Speaker 1: Having said that, we were not able to do that. 217 00:10:56,960 --> 00:11:01,959 Speaker 1: And if on draft day they're sitting there and the 218 00:11:02,000 --> 00:11:05,280 Speaker 1: top three or four offensive tackles are gone at eighteen, 219 00:11:05,880 --> 00:11:08,120 Speaker 1: I would think that they would think about going in 220 00:11:08,200 --> 00:11:14,800 Speaker 1: the other direction. And because frankly, a guy like um 221 00:11:14,920 --> 00:11:21,400 Speaker 1: Josh Jones from Houston or even the USC kid Austin Jackson, 222 00:11:21,880 --> 00:11:24,319 Speaker 1: I think they're gonna be good players in the NFL. 223 00:11:24,880 --> 00:11:28,880 Speaker 1: I really do. But if you're picking them at eighteen, 224 00:11:29,679 --> 00:11:32,440 Speaker 1: you might be over drafting him a little bit, um 225 00:11:33,200 --> 00:11:36,800 Speaker 1: and and so you know, it's about value as well 226 00:11:36,840 --> 00:11:41,880 Speaker 1: as getting good players, and the value for those players 227 00:11:42,040 --> 00:11:47,880 Speaker 1: that at that spot, it's it's arguable. Well I'm on though. 228 00:11:48,600 --> 00:11:50,480 Speaker 1: I feel like you're the first person I've really put 229 00:11:50,480 --> 00:11:53,320 Speaker 1: into a real tough spot. Jordan rod Reeg was very 230 00:11:53,400 --> 00:11:56,400 Speaker 1: upset that Asas Simmons wasn't there for the Panthers. And 231 00:11:56,440 --> 00:11:58,200 Speaker 1: now you're kind of in a tough spot here, So 232 00:11:58,640 --> 00:12:00,959 Speaker 1: make your selection. Who are you kicking with the eighth 233 00:12:01,040 --> 00:12:06,680 Speaker 1: overall selection in the Giants Huddle mock draft? Right, So again, 234 00:12:07,600 --> 00:12:10,800 Speaker 1: I probably would want to trade down. I don't want 235 00:12:10,840 --> 00:12:14,319 Speaker 1: to pick a running back this early. Although the Dolphins 236 00:12:14,320 --> 00:12:17,959 Speaker 1: need a running back, I definitely need a left tackle, 237 00:12:18,640 --> 00:12:23,360 Speaker 1: and I'm going with Austin Jackson of usc Um. You know, 238 00:12:23,480 --> 00:12:28,600 Speaker 1: I know that he's probably a late first round guy, um, 239 00:12:28,679 --> 00:12:32,120 Speaker 1: but it is what it is, man. It's not a 240 00:12:32,120 --> 00:12:35,920 Speaker 1: perfect science, and I'm gonna get him coached up with 241 00:12:35,960 --> 00:12:39,240 Speaker 1: my awesome coaching staff and he is going to be 242 00:12:39,320 --> 00:12:44,160 Speaker 1: a stud. Sounds great, Armando, good stuff. We will talk 243 00:12:44,240 --> 00:12:48,240 Speaker 1: to you at selection number twenty six that you acquired 244 00:12:48,280 --> 00:12:51,160 Speaker 1: from the Houston Texans for Laramie Tonso we appreciated my friends, 245 00:12:51,160 --> 00:12:55,280 Speaker 1: stay safe, my pleasure, Thank you. That was Armando Salgaro 246 00:12:55,600 --> 00:12:57,720 Speaker 1: covers the Dolphins for the Mammi Herald. Again. We'll hear 247 00:12:57,720 --> 00:13:00,439 Speaker 1: from him again and pick number twenty six in our 248 00:13:01,480 --> 00:13:05,200 Speaker 1: Giants Hudo Reporter mock draft. And now we welcome back 249 00:13:05,240 --> 00:13:08,080 Speaker 1: in Vic Tafer. He covers the Oakland Raiders for the 250 00:13:08,160 --> 00:13:10,680 Speaker 1: Athletic VIC. Based on the guys I've sent you that 251 00:13:10,720 --> 00:13:13,040 Speaker 1: have gone off the board, anyone in that group that 252 00:13:13,080 --> 00:13:16,160 Speaker 1: you're kind of sitting there targeting hoping might be there 253 00:13:16,200 --> 00:13:18,079 Speaker 1: for the Raiders when they come around for their second 254 00:13:18,080 --> 00:13:21,400 Speaker 1: pick at number nineteen. Well, I was probably playing for 255 00:13:21,640 --> 00:13:23,360 Speaker 1: c Henderson, but I forge it was a long shot 256 00:13:23,440 --> 00:13:25,800 Speaker 1: above He's definitely got some buzz. He's a really good 257 00:13:25,800 --> 00:13:28,480 Speaker 1: press man corner, so that was the one guy I 258 00:13:28,520 --> 00:13:30,840 Speaker 1: was looking at. I probably wanted straight down if I 259 00:13:30,840 --> 00:13:32,440 Speaker 1: could right at this point, but I'm not sure we 260 00:13:32,440 --> 00:13:36,840 Speaker 1: can do that, So I'm ready to the braver pray forward. Yeah, 261 00:13:37,080 --> 00:13:39,400 Speaker 1: when we talked to pick number twelve, you selected Jerry's 262 00:13:39,440 --> 00:13:42,720 Speaker 1: You to the wide receiver cornerback? Was your other need? 263 00:13:43,000 --> 00:13:45,400 Speaker 1: Now that you see kind of what's happened since that 264 00:13:45,440 --> 00:13:49,920 Speaker 1: twelve pick. Do you think going Judy was the right decision? Yeah? 265 00:13:50,000 --> 00:13:52,120 Speaker 1: I still do. I think I mean time, I could 266 00:13:52,280 --> 00:13:55,120 Speaker 1: Henderson twelve and see at nineteen. But I definitely think 267 00:13:55,200 --> 00:13:57,000 Speaker 1: Judy is probably the best guy as far as immediate 268 00:13:57,040 --> 00:13:59,240 Speaker 1: state for the Raiders. So I'm happy with that, and 269 00:13:59,280 --> 00:14:02,520 Speaker 1: I think there's a guy we'll like you that nineteen. Well, 270 00:14:02,600 --> 00:14:04,400 Speaker 1: let's talk about it. Who were the guys that you're 271 00:14:04,480 --> 00:14:06,880 Speaker 1: thinking about right here in number nineteen for the Raiders 272 00:14:06,880 --> 00:14:09,520 Speaker 1: based on who's left? Well, I can't trade down. I'm 273 00:14:09,600 --> 00:14:11,800 Speaker 1: gonna go with the last year. We have a lot 274 00:14:11,800 --> 00:14:13,840 Speaker 1: of success with Clemsons. If I go with the A. J. 275 00:14:13,920 --> 00:14:17,200 Speaker 1: Turell the quarterback got a Clemson? Who else was in 276 00:14:17,200 --> 00:14:19,640 Speaker 1: the mix for you? Um? If you decided not to 277 00:14:19,680 --> 00:14:23,080 Speaker 1: go with Terrell? Thank Javan Johnson's interesting. But I think 278 00:14:23,360 --> 00:14:25,520 Speaker 1: is this your shoulder problems to me as the concern? 279 00:14:25,560 --> 00:14:27,880 Speaker 1: So I love the trade back to trade doown? I could? Um. 280 00:14:28,120 --> 00:14:30,360 Speaker 1: The tackles are not only crazy about this spotting thing, 281 00:14:30,600 --> 00:14:33,080 Speaker 1: it's kind of bad. It's a bad little spot for 282 00:14:33,080 --> 00:14:35,080 Speaker 1: the draft of first guys are can come in and 283 00:14:35,280 --> 00:14:39,480 Speaker 1: have an immediate impact. Well, vic Armando saw Garo, who 284 00:14:39,480 --> 00:14:41,840 Speaker 1: was our last guest for the Miami Herald. Um. He 285 00:14:42,160 --> 00:14:44,040 Speaker 1: wanted to trade down from eighteen, and he ended up 286 00:14:44,040 --> 00:14:46,120 Speaker 1: taking Austin Jackson. He throws a little bit of a reach, 287 00:14:46,160 --> 00:14:48,240 Speaker 1: So this is always where it starts getting tough. We 288 00:14:48,280 --> 00:14:50,280 Speaker 1: appreciate the time my friends. Stay safe out there, and 289 00:14:50,320 --> 00:14:53,840 Speaker 1: we'll talk to you down the road. Okay, we thank 290 00:14:53,960 --> 00:14:56,680 Speaker 1: Vic Tafer for joining us from the Athletic covering the Raiders. 291 00:14:56,680 --> 00:14:58,800 Speaker 1: They take a j Terrell. And now we go back 292 00:14:58,800 --> 00:15:01,600 Speaker 1: to someone we heard from earlier in our mock draft, 293 00:15:01,600 --> 00:15:04,160 Speaker 1: that is Mike Dorocco. He covers the Jacksonville Jaguars for 294 00:15:04,480 --> 00:15:08,720 Speaker 1: ESPN and second pick of the first round four Jacksonville. Mike, 295 00:15:09,200 --> 00:15:11,440 Speaker 1: what are your thoughts here about how the first nineteen 296 00:15:11,520 --> 00:15:13,680 Speaker 1: picks have gone? Is this about what you expected? Or 297 00:15:13,720 --> 00:15:16,720 Speaker 1: you got some surprises in there for you? Uh No, 298 00:15:16,880 --> 00:15:19,600 Speaker 1: I mean pretty went pretty much went away. I expected 299 00:15:20,280 --> 00:15:23,680 Speaker 1: Ken long Brown gone early. Um, you know, and and 300 00:15:23,680 --> 00:15:26,480 Speaker 1: then the quarterbacks are all gone obviously, not that I 301 00:15:26,480 --> 00:15:29,800 Speaker 1: thought the Jacks were looking quarterbacks in the first rounds 302 00:15:29,920 --> 00:15:33,000 Speaker 1: or not. Um, But yeah, I didn't see too many surprises. 303 00:15:33,040 --> 00:15:35,520 Speaker 1: They're one guy, two guys, that I was hoping would 304 00:15:35,520 --> 00:15:38,040 Speaker 1: have slipped a little further were Henderson and Ruggs, because 305 00:15:38,040 --> 00:15:40,720 Speaker 1: I know the Jacks really like both of those guys. Um, 306 00:15:40,880 --> 00:15:44,000 Speaker 1: so uh, you know, just leaves them in a spot 307 00:15:44,000 --> 00:15:46,440 Speaker 1: here where you know, in reality, if they don't really 308 00:15:46,440 --> 00:15:48,760 Speaker 1: like what's here, they probably would end up trading down 309 00:15:48,840 --> 00:15:51,000 Speaker 1: or back out of the first pick up some extra picks. 310 00:15:51,040 --> 00:15:54,120 Speaker 1: But you know, we'll see how it goes there in 311 00:15:54,120 --> 00:15:57,680 Speaker 1: in real life next week. But you know, I'm ready 312 00:15:57,720 --> 00:15:59,680 Speaker 1: to make my pick for the Jacks. Okay, Well, Mike, 313 00:15:59,680 --> 00:16:01,520 Speaker 1: before we get to the name, give me the guys 314 00:16:01,560 --> 00:16:03,280 Speaker 1: that are kind of in the mixed view here that 315 00:16:03,320 --> 00:16:08,240 Speaker 1: you were deciding between before you made your final decision. Yeah. Well, 316 00:16:08,280 --> 00:16:11,520 Speaker 1: like I said, Henderson and Ruggs were there. Um, you know, 317 00:16:11,560 --> 00:16:13,680 Speaker 1: the Jack's needs some help at defensive tackle, like we 318 00:16:13,760 --> 00:16:16,040 Speaker 1: talked about before. So Ross Blacklock was a guy that 319 00:16:16,080 --> 00:16:21,920 Speaker 1: I can series as well. Um. Christian sult In the 320 00:16:21,920 --> 00:16:26,160 Speaker 1: cornerback at L s U. Sorry, wash, just uh, I 321 00:16:26,200 --> 00:16:28,440 Speaker 1: had a little bit I couldn't read my writing down 322 00:16:28,440 --> 00:16:30,520 Speaker 1: what I had written here on my notes. Christian Fulton 323 00:16:30,520 --> 00:16:32,480 Speaker 1: the cornerback out of L s U. And Trevon Diggs 324 00:16:32,480 --> 00:16:34,920 Speaker 1: the corner out of Alabama were guys that I think 325 00:16:35,240 --> 00:16:38,000 Speaker 1: would be the top three guys I would consider taking 326 00:16:38,000 --> 00:16:40,360 Speaker 1: at this pick right now. How do you go about 327 00:16:40,440 --> 00:16:42,600 Speaker 1: separating those corners because I know, based on what I've 328 00:16:42,640 --> 00:16:44,640 Speaker 1: read around the league, there's a lot of disagreement as 329 00:16:44,640 --> 00:16:48,520 Speaker 1: to how teams have that next group of quarterbacks ranked. Yeah, 330 00:16:48,600 --> 00:16:51,120 Speaker 1: and and it just kind of depends on on sort 331 00:16:51,160 --> 00:16:53,360 Speaker 1: of what you really really like about a guy. I 332 00:16:53,400 --> 00:16:56,960 Speaker 1: know Diggs. Diggs is a little bit bigger, uh than 333 00:16:57,040 --> 00:16:59,480 Speaker 1: Christian Fulton, but I think Christian Fulton is a little 334 00:16:59,520 --> 00:17:01,920 Speaker 1: bit fast, um from what you I'm saying, And it 335 00:17:01,960 --> 00:17:04,359 Speaker 1: just kind of depends on really what you want. Both 336 00:17:04,359 --> 00:17:08,240 Speaker 1: those guys seem to be pre pretty similar in terms 337 00:17:08,240 --> 00:17:10,719 Speaker 1: of coverage ability and and you know, I think, uh, 338 00:17:10,760 --> 00:17:12,840 Speaker 1: I think Fulton has a little bit better ball skills, 339 00:17:13,000 --> 00:17:15,280 Speaker 1: So I think that might be the way that you 340 00:17:15,320 --> 00:17:18,440 Speaker 1: would kind of differentiate those guys. But you know, it really, 341 00:17:19,200 --> 00:17:21,119 Speaker 1: when you've got guys that are kind of similar a 342 00:17:21,160 --> 00:17:23,320 Speaker 1: little bit, it really just kind of goes down to 343 00:17:24,920 --> 00:17:28,920 Speaker 1: what you like. When when you've now your FaceTime video 344 00:17:28,920 --> 00:17:31,840 Speaker 1: and you know, facetiming or zoom calls, you know what 345 00:17:31,920 --> 00:17:34,200 Speaker 1: kind of feel you got from those guys and your 346 00:17:34,200 --> 00:17:36,560 Speaker 1: research in terms of you know, what are you getting 347 00:17:36,640 --> 00:17:38,639 Speaker 1: from that guy in the locker room? What kind of 348 00:17:39,200 --> 00:17:40,800 Speaker 1: student of the game is he going to be? That 349 00:17:40,880 --> 00:17:43,359 Speaker 1: kind of stuff. So um, but all it takes is 350 00:17:43,400 --> 00:17:46,280 Speaker 1: for one GM to to really like a guy over 351 00:17:46,320 --> 00:17:47,919 Speaker 1: the other guy. And and you know it can be 352 00:17:48,000 --> 00:17:50,359 Speaker 1: just as simple as that, Mike, make your pick for 353 00:17:50,400 --> 00:17:56,680 Speaker 1: the Jacksonville Jaguar is overall in the Giant Huddle mock draft. Yeah, 354 00:17:56,920 --> 00:17:59,320 Speaker 1: losing a J boy, excuse me, trading a J boy 355 00:17:59,440 --> 00:18:02,199 Speaker 1: with and left a huge hole for the jong bar 356 00:18:02,240 --> 00:18:06,159 Speaker 1: as a corner, especially with Don Dearkiston are signing not 357 00:18:06,280 --> 00:18:09,359 Speaker 1: working out, So I'm gonna have them grab Christian Fault 358 00:18:09,400 --> 00:18:11,560 Speaker 1: in the corner out of l s U with the 359 00:18:11,640 --> 00:18:13,840 Speaker 1: number twenty pick and then he plugs in right as 360 00:18:13,840 --> 00:18:16,199 Speaker 1: the starter on the other side, opposite Trey Herndon. And 361 00:18:16,240 --> 00:18:20,520 Speaker 1: now that Jack's uh you know, uh probably have well 362 00:18:20,560 --> 00:18:23,359 Speaker 1: halsticks one of their two biggest weaknesses. My good stuff, 363 00:18:23,400 --> 00:18:25,240 Speaker 1: my friend. We really appreciate your helping us out with 364 00:18:25,280 --> 00:18:27,399 Speaker 1: the mock this year. You had two pigs double duty. 365 00:18:27,600 --> 00:18:29,399 Speaker 1: We thank you for helping us stay safe down there. 366 00:18:29,480 --> 00:18:31,680 Speaker 1: We'll talk to you down the road, enjoy the draft. Thanks, 367 00:18:31,720 --> 00:18:35,080 Speaker 1: appreciate you having me. We thank Mike Droco from ESPN 368 00:18:35,240 --> 00:18:37,840 Speaker 1: covering the Jacksonville Jaguars. Now we head to the NFC 369 00:18:38,000 --> 00:18:40,600 Speaker 1: East to a division arrival of the Philadelphia Eagles, and 370 00:18:40,600 --> 00:18:44,320 Speaker 1: who better than Dave Spider, who writes for the Eagles website. Dave, 371 00:18:44,560 --> 00:18:47,520 Speaker 1: I hope you guys are well and surviving this very 372 00:18:47,640 --> 00:18:51,760 Speaker 1: very strange time in America. Yes, I am doing fine. 373 00:18:51,840 --> 00:18:56,720 Speaker 1: Thank you, and prayers and best wishes to everybody out there. 374 00:18:57,320 --> 00:19:01,000 Speaker 1: Scary times. Let's all hope that we have a NFL 375 00:19:01,040 --> 00:19:03,119 Speaker 1: season to enjoy. Yeah, absolutely, and a big thank you 376 00:19:03,119 --> 00:19:04,760 Speaker 1: to all those folks out there on the front lines, 377 00:19:04,800 --> 00:19:06,960 Speaker 1: the healthcare workers and everybody else by the way, you know, 378 00:19:07,000 --> 00:19:09,720 Speaker 1: delivery guys, people that work in the grocery stores that 379 00:19:09,760 --> 00:19:12,000 Speaker 1: allow everybody kind of still live their lives and you know, 380 00:19:12,040 --> 00:19:14,159 Speaker 1: putting themselves at risk, well, the MT workers and all 381 00:19:14,160 --> 00:19:16,560 Speaker 1: that sort of stuff. So that let's get to the 382 00:19:16,560 --> 00:19:21,000 Speaker 1: fun stuff. Um, any surprises or anyone maybe that you 383 00:19:21,000 --> 00:19:24,160 Speaker 1: were hoping could drop to the Eagles here at their 384 00:19:24,240 --> 00:19:26,879 Speaker 1: selection in the first round, number twenty one that is 385 00:19:26,920 --> 00:19:30,560 Speaker 1: not on the board. Yeah, you know, everybody with the 386 00:19:30,920 --> 00:19:35,920 Speaker 1: in the fan base is certainly saying, oh, we need receivers, 387 00:19:35,920 --> 00:19:41,000 Speaker 1: So so I'm keeping my eyes open. Uh. Certainly, Rugs 388 00:19:41,200 --> 00:19:45,480 Speaker 1: was somebody that Eagles fans had hope would still be 389 00:19:45,520 --> 00:19:49,920 Speaker 1: there twenty one. So he's not there. Obviously, Judy and 390 00:19:49,920 --> 00:19:52,600 Speaker 1: and and Lamb not gonna happen. But you know, I 391 00:19:52,640 --> 00:19:54,840 Speaker 1: think it had Rugged slipped down, maybe the Eagles would 392 00:19:54,840 --> 00:19:57,920 Speaker 1: certainly consider somebody with that kind of speet. We saw 393 00:19:57,960 --> 00:20:02,240 Speaker 1: what happened to the Eagles off Jim when DeShawn Jackson 394 00:20:02,680 --> 00:20:06,359 Speaker 1: was sent off the field with injuries. So, um, you 395 00:20:06,400 --> 00:20:09,720 Speaker 1: know that was the player I think separated from the 396 00:20:09,800 --> 00:20:12,720 Speaker 1: rest of the wide receiver. But he's off the board, 397 00:20:12,800 --> 00:20:16,440 Speaker 1: so the Eagles don't have to force the issue if 398 00:20:16,440 --> 00:20:19,240 Speaker 1: they if they don't want to. So besides wide receiver, Dave, 399 00:20:19,320 --> 00:20:22,800 Speaker 1: what other positions of need are you really looking after 400 00:20:22,800 --> 00:20:27,080 Speaker 1: the Eagles here in raft? Yeah? I really think that cornerback, 401 00:20:27,240 --> 00:20:31,000 Speaker 1: even though they made the trade for Darius Slay, it 402 00:20:31,160 --> 00:20:37,399 Speaker 1: is time to get long term answers in place frontline talent, 403 00:20:38,320 --> 00:20:41,760 Speaker 1: and the Eagles have that opportunity at number twenty one. 404 00:20:42,280 --> 00:20:46,359 Speaker 1: With Trayvon Digs from Alabama still on the board. The 405 00:20:46,440 --> 00:20:48,000 Speaker 1: things that he can do, the way that he can 406 00:20:48,000 --> 00:20:51,960 Speaker 1: fit into this scheme. I think that would be a 407 00:20:52,080 --> 00:20:54,919 Speaker 1: name that you just really wouldn't pass up if he's there. 408 00:20:56,920 --> 00:20:59,480 Speaker 1: Is that your official pick for the Eagles? Yeah, and 409 00:20:59,480 --> 00:21:02,280 Speaker 1: I am I plenty sure is this and looking very well. 410 00:21:02,280 --> 00:21:04,920 Speaker 1: Could be a wide receiver, But there are enough wide 411 00:21:04,960 --> 00:21:07,560 Speaker 1: receivers in this draft that you can come back and 412 00:21:07,600 --> 00:21:10,600 Speaker 1: get one in round two. The Eagles have two picks 413 00:21:10,640 --> 00:21:13,280 Speaker 1: in the fourth round. Everything everybody is saying is that 414 00:21:13,400 --> 00:21:18,040 Speaker 1: the depth and wide receiver is unprecedented for many years. 415 00:21:18,400 --> 00:21:22,280 Speaker 1: So I'm making a pick of the very talented Digs 416 00:21:23,200 --> 00:21:27,520 Speaker 1: and shoring up cornerback for the next several seasons. Then 417 00:21:27,600 --> 00:21:30,600 Speaker 1: you can come back and address linebacker. Then you can 418 00:21:30,640 --> 00:21:33,240 Speaker 1: come up back and address wide receiver. You don't have 419 00:21:33,320 --> 00:21:35,639 Speaker 1: to do it in round one. So yeah, Gigs is 420 00:21:35,680 --> 00:21:38,719 Speaker 1: my pick for the Philadelphia Eagles at number twenty one 421 00:21:38,760 --> 00:21:40,719 Speaker 1: in the first round. Now, does he stick out like 422 00:21:40,760 --> 00:21:43,520 Speaker 1: a sore thumb for you at the cornerback position based 423 00:21:43,520 --> 00:21:45,679 Speaker 1: on the other guys that are available? Is that a 424 00:21:45,680 --> 00:21:47,800 Speaker 1: pretty easy choice among the guys that are left for you? 425 00:21:48,560 --> 00:21:51,399 Speaker 1: For me, it is based on his side six two 426 00:21:52,000 --> 00:21:57,600 Speaker 1: range plays really well in zone coverage, can press wide receivers, 427 00:21:57,760 --> 00:22:02,000 Speaker 1: gives the Eagles the opportunity with Flay to match up 428 00:22:02,040 --> 00:22:05,480 Speaker 1: again and they and they're solid inside with Nicole Nickel, 429 00:22:05,560 --> 00:22:08,120 Speaker 1: Robie Coleman who comes over from the Rams, and free 430 00:22:08,119 --> 00:22:13,240 Speaker 1: agency was a great value signing man. Yeah. So, I mean, 431 00:22:13,480 --> 00:22:17,040 Speaker 1: I think they can really really add to what they had. 432 00:22:17,240 --> 00:22:21,200 Speaker 1: They gave up the most ex plays in the NFL 433 00:22:21,280 --> 00:22:23,560 Speaker 1: last year, and when the Eagles played the Giants, you 434 00:22:23,600 --> 00:22:27,040 Speaker 1: saw it, John, the Eagles could not control the down 435 00:22:27,320 --> 00:22:31,679 Speaker 1: field throw. And they've invested in the defensive line with 436 00:22:31,760 --> 00:22:36,040 Speaker 1: Javon Hargrave, They've invested in the defensive backfield with Flay, 437 00:22:36,119 --> 00:22:40,280 Speaker 1: and I think gigs really complete defense. Now, was there 438 00:22:40,320 --> 00:22:44,880 Speaker 1: any thoughts either Kenneth Murray or Patrick Queen here the 439 00:22:44,960 --> 00:22:47,960 Speaker 1: number two and number three consensus linebackers still on the 440 00:22:47,960 --> 00:22:51,399 Speaker 1: board after Isaiah Simmons. Yeah, I mean very much so. 441 00:22:51,600 --> 00:22:54,720 Speaker 1: But it just would be so out of character for 442 00:22:54,800 --> 00:22:58,960 Speaker 1: the Eagles to go linebacker round one. I don't remember 443 00:22:59,000 --> 00:23:02,000 Speaker 1: the last time we did. I think Nike one maybe 444 00:23:02,119 --> 00:23:04,360 Speaker 1: sounds like the Giants. Sounds like the Giants with call 445 00:23:04,440 --> 00:23:08,680 Speaker 1: Banks from U C. L A. But um, I mean 446 00:23:08,720 --> 00:23:11,879 Speaker 1: it's a possibility. But I just think that you know, 447 00:23:11,960 --> 00:23:14,359 Speaker 1: the way the Egels have invested up front, they really 448 00:23:14,720 --> 00:23:18,000 Speaker 1: believe that the defense goes through the D line that 449 00:23:18,080 --> 00:23:20,680 Speaker 1: you have you can you can have your linebackers run free, 450 00:23:21,080 --> 00:23:23,679 Speaker 1: run clean, and you invest in the back end, you 451 00:23:23,760 --> 00:23:26,159 Speaker 1: invest in the front end. And that's why I'm going Gigs. 452 00:23:26,160 --> 00:23:29,240 Speaker 1: So you know, I consider Justin Jefferson here, and I 453 00:23:29,280 --> 00:23:31,720 Speaker 1: consider the linebackers here, but I just think you go 454 00:23:31,840 --> 00:23:34,040 Speaker 1: best player on the board, and I think it's Biggs. 455 00:23:34,160 --> 00:23:36,240 Speaker 1: All right, final question day before we say goodbye, And 456 00:23:36,240 --> 00:23:38,000 Speaker 1: this is a topic that we've talked a lot about 457 00:23:38,040 --> 00:23:41,720 Speaker 1: on the shows that we're still doing on remote. Are 458 00:23:41,760 --> 00:23:43,959 Speaker 1: the Eagles just really licking their chops here? I mean, 459 00:23:43,960 --> 00:23:46,640 Speaker 1: they've got to be really happy about the fact that 460 00:23:46,680 --> 00:23:50,439 Speaker 1: there's probably gonna be no offseason program in person, and 461 00:23:50,440 --> 00:23:52,280 Speaker 1: then you have the virtual stuff. But it's not the 462 00:23:52,359 --> 00:23:54,880 Speaker 1: same and they're the only team in the division that's 463 00:23:54,880 --> 00:23:58,040 Speaker 1: returning the same head coach and the same offense and 464 00:23:58,119 --> 00:24:03,520 Speaker 1: the same defense. Nobody's nobody's happy about this situation. Of course, 465 00:24:03,560 --> 00:24:06,520 Speaker 1: of course, right certainly, Eagles on paper would have an 466 00:24:06,520 --> 00:24:10,240 Speaker 1: advantage because they come back more intact, and you know, 467 00:24:10,280 --> 00:24:14,040 Speaker 1: with it with some extra with everybody understanding the scheme 468 00:24:14,080 --> 00:24:16,600 Speaker 1: for the most part. However, I will go back to this, 469 00:24:16,720 --> 00:24:18,960 Speaker 1: and I've said this before with you. There has not 470 00:24:19,080 --> 00:24:23,280 Speaker 1: been a repeat winner in the NFD in two thousand three, 471 00:24:23,520 --> 00:24:27,760 Speaker 1: two thousand four. It is a division where crazy things happen. 472 00:24:28,240 --> 00:24:31,440 Speaker 1: Two thousand twenty will be no exception. And as as 473 00:24:31,560 --> 00:24:34,680 Speaker 1: as has been proven in many ways, is not shy 474 00:24:34,720 --> 00:24:38,400 Speaker 1: about being crazy, Dave. It's that's not shame. It's been 475 00:24:38,480 --> 00:24:41,040 Speaker 1: unpleasant so far, and we hope it gets a lot 476 00:24:41,080 --> 00:24:43,800 Speaker 1: better and everybody stays healthy and we can all enjoy 477 00:24:44,240 --> 00:24:48,119 Speaker 1: a great football season together. Absolutely best best to you 478 00:24:48,200 --> 00:24:50,119 Speaker 1: and your family and everybody in the Eagles organization day 479 00:24:50,160 --> 00:24:51,920 Speaker 1: if you guys are a real good group. We hope 480 00:24:51,960 --> 00:24:55,159 Speaker 1: everybody's well and we'll hopefully see you in person and 481 00:24:55,240 --> 00:24:58,480 Speaker 1: not so long. Yeah, and the schedule comes out May. John, 482 00:24:58,520 --> 00:25:01,679 Speaker 1: thanks you and to everybody out there. Giants, good people, 483 00:25:02,000 --> 00:25:05,440 Speaker 1: good folks, love their jobs, love their lives, and let's 484 00:25:05,440 --> 00:25:08,560 Speaker 1: all stay healthy. We thank Dave Spidarrow from the Eagles 485 00:25:08,560 --> 00:25:11,320 Speaker 1: website for joining us. They select Trayvon Diggs and I 486 00:25:11,400 --> 00:25:14,400 Speaker 1: know our next team, the Minnesota Vikings, might have had 487 00:25:14,440 --> 00:25:16,800 Speaker 1: some interest in a cornerback spot. They've had some fly 488 00:25:16,880 --> 00:25:19,280 Speaker 1: the coop this offseason to talk about it. A Reef 489 00:25:19,359 --> 00:25:22,920 Speaker 1: ha San he covers the Vikings for the Athletic A Reef, 490 00:25:22,960 --> 00:25:25,440 Speaker 1: you got John Schulk here in New Jersey. Hope everybody 491 00:25:25,440 --> 00:25:29,440 Speaker 1: in your world is safe in these really strange times. Yeah, 492 00:25:29,560 --> 00:25:31,440 Speaker 1: I hope everyone in your world is safe as well. 493 00:25:31,960 --> 00:25:34,760 Speaker 1: They are, thank you very much. All right, before we 494 00:25:34,760 --> 00:25:36,920 Speaker 1: get to the actual pick, let's let's kind of focusing 495 00:25:36,920 --> 00:25:39,359 Speaker 1: on what you think the biggest needs are for the 496 00:25:39,359 --> 00:25:43,560 Speaker 1: Minnesota Vikings right now heading into still obviously trying to 497 00:25:43,600 --> 00:25:46,480 Speaker 1: be contenders in the NFC. Yeah, for sure. Well this 498 00:25:46,560 --> 00:25:48,160 Speaker 1: is a bit of a rough craft sneering for them 499 00:25:48,200 --> 00:25:51,920 Speaker 1: because they need new starters at cornerback, multiple new starts 500 00:25:51,920 --> 00:25:54,840 Speaker 1: at cornerback. They will also need, you know, some receivers. 501 00:25:54,880 --> 00:25:57,600 Speaker 1: They they traded Spawn digs away for the pick that 502 00:25:57,640 --> 00:26:00,520 Speaker 1: we're using the select right now. And then also, like 503 00:26:00,640 --> 00:26:03,680 Speaker 1: every year, the Vikings do need offensive linemen and they 504 00:26:03,760 --> 00:26:05,960 Speaker 1: could stand to make a couple of picks on the 505 00:26:06,000 --> 00:26:08,080 Speaker 1: defensive line, both on the interior and the edge. So 506 00:26:08,119 --> 00:26:11,080 Speaker 1: a lot of options for them considering they have a 507 00:26:11,080 --> 00:26:13,520 Speaker 1: lot of needs. You know, no no, Everson Griffin. You 508 00:26:13,640 --> 00:26:17,840 Speaker 1: lost the all the quarterbacks, Davier Rhodes, Trey Wayne's, Mackenzie Alexander, 509 00:26:18,080 --> 00:26:21,480 Speaker 1: Everson Griffin's out the door too, and they traded Stefon Digs. 510 00:26:21,960 --> 00:26:24,760 Speaker 1: Any thoughts of perhaps trading down for the Vikings to 511 00:26:24,880 --> 00:26:26,760 Speaker 1: try to create a little bit more volume of picks 512 00:26:26,840 --> 00:26:29,760 Speaker 1: from one of these two slots. Yeah, No, absolutely, I 513 00:26:29,800 --> 00:26:33,439 Speaker 1: think that in this particular draft scenary, the that has 514 00:26:33,480 --> 00:26:36,920 Speaker 1: played out ideally, they would they would trade down grab 515 00:26:36,960 --> 00:26:38,800 Speaker 1: some more picks. You're right, they've got a couple of needs. 516 00:26:38,800 --> 00:26:40,680 Speaker 1: I think that they would want to take a couple 517 00:26:40,720 --> 00:26:42,760 Speaker 1: of shots in the second round, just as they can 518 00:26:42,880 --> 00:26:45,840 Speaker 1: really kind of fill out that roster. Like you said, alright, 519 00:26:45,880 --> 00:26:47,639 Speaker 1: so give me your pick and then I'll follow up 520 00:26:47,640 --> 00:26:49,800 Speaker 1: with a quick question. Who is your selection? A reef 521 00:26:49,800 --> 00:26:53,720 Speaker 1: for the Minnesota Vikings at selection number twenty two in 522 00:26:53,800 --> 00:26:59,080 Speaker 1: the Giants Huddle drafty Well all picked the Vikings select 523 00:26:59,560 --> 00:27:02,320 Speaker 1: Jalen Johnson, Utah cornerback. I think we're a little bit 524 00:27:02,320 --> 00:27:05,200 Speaker 1: worried about the run on cornerbacks here and and the 525 00:27:05,280 --> 00:27:08,800 Speaker 1: number of physical cornerbacks that can play Zimmer style of football. Uh, 526 00:27:08,840 --> 00:27:10,840 Speaker 1: he's running a little bit thin so we grab a 527 00:27:10,840 --> 00:27:14,000 Speaker 1: corner that is an average to above average athlete that's 528 00:27:14,000 --> 00:27:17,320 Speaker 1: got some technique to clean up, but some pretty remarkable instincts. 529 00:27:17,320 --> 00:27:18,879 Speaker 1: Trust his eyes a lot and does a lot of 530 00:27:18,920 --> 00:27:21,560 Speaker 1: tape studies, So it sounds like a Zimmer cornerback. He's 531 00:27:21,600 --> 00:27:23,600 Speaker 1: got the appropriate links to compete on the outside and 532 00:27:23,640 --> 00:27:27,040 Speaker 1: the inside. Seems like somebody that they would cover it. Yeah, 533 00:27:27,080 --> 00:27:28,840 Speaker 1: I agree. I think it's I think it's a real 534 00:27:28,920 --> 00:27:31,200 Speaker 1: nice fit for the way the Vikings want to play defense. 535 00:27:31,720 --> 00:27:36,400 Speaker 1: Any consideration to Justin Jefferson here, who's probably, at least 536 00:27:36,440 --> 00:27:39,320 Speaker 1: according to most experts, probably the best receiver left on 537 00:27:39,359 --> 00:27:42,440 Speaker 1: the board. Honestly, that's who I was gonna pick before 538 00:27:42,440 --> 00:27:45,040 Speaker 1: I got scared off by by that cornerback roup. So 539 00:27:45,760 --> 00:27:48,840 Speaker 1: uh yeah, I really do like Justin Jefferson. He would 540 00:27:48,880 --> 00:27:51,520 Speaker 1: have been my pick. But even if he goes off 541 00:27:51,560 --> 00:27:53,679 Speaker 1: the board, I think the Vikings can be pretty happy 542 00:27:53,760 --> 00:27:55,560 Speaker 1: with the receivers that are going to be left when 543 00:27:55,560 --> 00:27:58,320 Speaker 1: they get to pick again at five. So that's that's 544 00:27:58,320 --> 00:27:59,840 Speaker 1: a big part of it too, is that they get 545 00:28:00,000 --> 00:28:02,240 Speaker 1: will tip in the first round said they'll they'll take 546 00:28:02,320 --> 00:28:05,720 Speaker 1: the scarcer position at I think was Johnson the easy 547 00:28:05,760 --> 00:28:08,040 Speaker 1: pick for you based on the other cornerbacks left remaining 548 00:28:09,320 --> 00:28:11,600 Speaker 1: not as easy. I do like Jeff Gladdeny a lot, 549 00:28:11,600 --> 00:28:14,760 Speaker 1: but I think the physical profile, the size um that 550 00:28:14,760 --> 00:28:16,679 Speaker 1: that helps a little bit more when it comes to 551 00:28:16,720 --> 00:28:18,600 Speaker 1: somebody like Johnson. Rife will talk to you in a 552 00:28:18,600 --> 00:28:21,560 Speaker 1: couple of picks. We appreciated my friend alright, looking forward 553 00:28:21,600 --> 00:28:24,200 Speaker 1: to it. We thank Arif Hasan, who covers the vikings 554 00:28:24,200 --> 00:28:26,440 Speaker 1: for the Athletics. So we head on to pick number 555 00:28:26,480 --> 00:28:29,560 Speaker 1: twenty three, the new England Patriots. You welcome in Mike Greece, 556 00:28:29,560 --> 00:28:33,040 Speaker 1: who covers them for ESPN. Mike, we appreciate you being 557 00:28:33,080 --> 00:28:36,280 Speaker 1: with us. Boy, new work for the Patriots. Tom Brady 558 00:28:36,280 --> 00:28:38,760 Speaker 1: has moved on. So what's the general thoughts here as 559 00:28:38,760 --> 00:28:42,120 Speaker 1: the Patriots embark upon a new era? They'll Bill Belichick 560 00:28:42,160 --> 00:28:44,840 Speaker 1: still demand in charge. Well, you know, I think there's 561 00:28:44,840 --> 00:28:46,760 Speaker 1: a couple of distant thoughts. The first is one of 562 00:28:46,840 --> 00:28:50,960 Speaker 1: appreciation for everything that Tom Brady brought the Patriots over 563 00:28:51,000 --> 00:28:53,880 Speaker 1: the years, and then one of a new beginning. Because 564 00:28:54,160 --> 00:28:57,200 Speaker 1: the question here is, well the Patriots invest in the 565 00:28:57,280 --> 00:29:00,840 Speaker 1: quarterback position, and if they do, how high will they 566 00:29:00,920 --> 00:29:03,880 Speaker 1: do it? So you have those two factors In addition 567 00:29:03,960 --> 00:29:07,240 Speaker 1: to the in Bill we trust saying, people say, with 568 00:29:07,320 --> 00:29:11,400 Speaker 1: Bill Belichick running the football operation for his twenty first year, 569 00:29:11,720 --> 00:29:14,800 Speaker 1: they have confidence that he'll position the team one way 570 00:29:14,880 --> 00:29:18,960 Speaker 1: or the other for sixteen success. So is there a 571 00:29:19,000 --> 00:29:21,480 Speaker 1: thought of a potential trade up this year Mike to 572 00:29:21,560 --> 00:29:24,240 Speaker 1: go get that quarterback? Or is that a little bit 573 00:29:24,280 --> 00:29:27,920 Speaker 1: too big of a jump or picking? Well, Look, what 574 00:29:28,000 --> 00:29:31,800 Speaker 1: I would say is Bill Belichick has made seventies seven 575 00:29:32,360 --> 00:29:36,440 Speaker 1: Draft day trade in his twenty years with the Patriots, 576 00:29:36,480 --> 00:29:40,160 Speaker 1: and if I've learned anything over that time, it's nothing 577 00:29:40,680 --> 00:29:43,320 Speaker 1: should surprise us one way or the other. All it 578 00:29:43,400 --> 00:29:46,480 Speaker 1: takes is for him to fall in love with one guy. 579 00:29:46,600 --> 00:29:49,120 Speaker 1: And I think we all subscribe to the theory that 580 00:29:49,520 --> 00:29:51,959 Speaker 1: if there's a quarterback that you feel is the answer, 581 00:29:52,200 --> 00:29:55,240 Speaker 1: there's really no price that you can pay too rich 582 00:29:55,320 --> 00:29:59,160 Speaker 1: to go ahead and do it. All right, Mike, give 583 00:29:59,200 --> 00:30:01,760 Speaker 1: me your select in here? Who do the Patriots select 584 00:30:02,080 --> 00:30:05,360 Speaker 1: at pick number twenty three overall? And the Giant huddle 585 00:30:05,440 --> 00:30:08,720 Speaker 1: mock draft. Well, the way I have the Patriots needs 586 00:30:08,800 --> 00:30:11,240 Speaker 1: sort of listed, it's the you know, the quarterbacks in 587 00:30:11,280 --> 00:30:14,160 Speaker 1: a separate category. In the standpoint of if you fall 588 00:30:14,200 --> 00:30:16,360 Speaker 1: in love with a guy that that Trump's everything, then 589 00:30:16,360 --> 00:30:18,880 Speaker 1: I have tight end. And at this point I just 590 00:30:19,080 --> 00:30:21,440 Speaker 1: I felt like a little rich maybe to go with 591 00:30:21,480 --> 00:30:23,840 Speaker 1: the tight end. So I went to my number two need, 592 00:30:23,920 --> 00:30:26,720 Speaker 1: and I really liked what I saw with Kenneth Murray, 593 00:30:26,800 --> 00:30:30,720 Speaker 1: the Oklahoma linebacker available for the Patriots. That's my number 594 00:30:30,720 --> 00:30:32,960 Speaker 1: two need. And here's a guy that might be able 595 00:30:32,960 --> 00:30:36,240 Speaker 1: to play on all four downs, possibly be a starter 596 00:30:36,360 --> 00:30:40,440 Speaker 1: alongside Dante high Tower. A nice contrast in playing style 597 00:30:40,720 --> 00:30:42,360 Speaker 1: between the two of them. And one thing I've learned 598 00:30:42,360 --> 00:30:44,000 Speaker 1: on the scouting trail is that if you're gonna take 599 00:30:44,000 --> 00:30:46,320 Speaker 1: a linebacker in the first round, you want to make 600 00:30:46,320 --> 00:30:49,720 Speaker 1: sure he factors in the first down, second down, third down, 601 00:30:49,760 --> 00:30:52,360 Speaker 1: and even on special teams. That Murray would do that. 602 00:30:52,840 --> 00:30:54,960 Speaker 1: On the final file up before we say goodbye, Mike, 603 00:30:55,080 --> 00:30:59,360 Speaker 1: what other players were in consideration for you besides Murray? Well, 604 00:30:59,400 --> 00:31:01,479 Speaker 1: you know, the the tight end spot that I mentioned. 605 00:31:01,480 --> 00:31:04,320 Speaker 1: I'm thinking of myself. Is that too rich for someone 606 00:31:04,400 --> 00:31:07,320 Speaker 1: like Cole Commet of Notre Dame? You know? And it's 607 00:31:07,360 --> 00:31:10,479 Speaker 1: hard to know because this isn't a deep tight end class. 608 00:31:10,480 --> 00:31:13,000 Speaker 1: And if you really need one and you really think 609 00:31:13,040 --> 00:31:16,400 Speaker 1: he's heading shoulders above the rest. Well, you know, maybe 610 00:31:16,400 --> 00:31:18,480 Speaker 1: that isn't too rich to take him there. So I 611 00:31:18,560 --> 00:31:20,680 Speaker 1: was batting that around a little bit. And then the 612 00:31:20,720 --> 00:31:23,600 Speaker 1: offensive line can never go wrong there. One of the 613 00:31:23,680 --> 00:31:26,960 Speaker 1: tackle for off the board, but still I don't think 614 00:31:27,000 --> 00:31:30,000 Speaker 1: that's a bad spot to look tackle there because as 615 00:31:30,040 --> 00:31:32,080 Speaker 1: we saw with the Patriot last year when they had 616 00:31:32,080 --> 00:31:34,960 Speaker 1: a run of injuries and retirements on the offensive line, 617 00:31:34,960 --> 00:31:37,760 Speaker 1: those needs are really tough to fill on the flies. 618 00:31:37,840 --> 00:31:40,600 Speaker 1: You can never go wrong developing a prospect up front 619 00:31:40,600 --> 00:31:43,440 Speaker 1: with the top pick. Mike, We appreciate the time. Stay safe, 620 00:31:43,480 --> 00:31:45,800 Speaker 1: my friend. All right you as well, thanks for having me. 621 00:31:46,560 --> 00:31:48,800 Speaker 1: We say thank you to Mike Reecee, who covers the 622 00:31:48,840 --> 00:31:52,880 Speaker 1: Patriots for ESPN, and we head down to Nylands where 623 00:31:52,920 --> 00:31:56,720 Speaker 1: Larry Holder covers the Saints for the Athletic. Larry, thanks 624 00:31:56,720 --> 00:31:59,920 Speaker 1: for being with us. The Saints still trying to find 625 00:32:00,080 --> 00:32:03,240 Speaker 1: that second Super Bowl for Drew Brees. They love to 626 00:32:03,280 --> 00:32:06,000 Speaker 1: wheel in deals. Let's start their thoughts on a potential 627 00:32:06,040 --> 00:32:08,280 Speaker 1: trade up or down for the Saints this year at 628 00:32:08,360 --> 00:32:12,440 Speaker 1: number Yeah. The Saints are always looking to wheel and deal. Uh. 629 00:32:12,480 --> 00:32:15,120 Speaker 1: Whether or not they even have enough draft assets to 630 00:32:15,160 --> 00:32:17,800 Speaker 1: do it, they still make it happen. Borrowing picks from 631 00:32:17,840 --> 00:32:21,680 Speaker 1: another year. Uh. So you know, I feel like the 632 00:32:21,800 --> 00:32:25,040 Speaker 1: Saints though in this draft, you know, maybe they would 633 00:32:25,080 --> 00:32:27,440 Speaker 1: be more apt to actually move down, which would be 634 00:32:27,440 --> 00:32:30,840 Speaker 1: a rarity for them, uh, given they don't have a 635 00:32:30,880 --> 00:32:33,480 Speaker 1: second round pick. But we've also seen in the past 636 00:32:33,560 --> 00:32:36,920 Speaker 1: where uh, even if they don't have that, they might 637 00:32:37,000 --> 00:32:40,040 Speaker 1: pull the trigger and go maybe get one of those 638 00:32:40,120 --> 00:32:44,000 Speaker 1: top receivers in the draft. Uh they did in when 639 00:32:44,000 --> 00:32:45,880 Speaker 1: they moved up to go get Brandon Cooks and what 640 00:32:46,000 --> 00:32:49,680 Speaker 1: was supposed to be a heavily laden wide receiver draft. 641 00:32:49,760 --> 00:32:52,520 Speaker 1: And so you know, I wouldn't put that out of 642 00:32:52,600 --> 00:32:55,080 Speaker 1: the total question for the Saints. But I do still 643 00:32:55,080 --> 00:32:57,920 Speaker 1: feel like twenty four that they can get a pick 644 00:32:58,000 --> 00:33:00,360 Speaker 1: that can definitely help them right away. Where do you 645 00:33:00,400 --> 00:33:02,200 Speaker 1: see the major needs right now for the Saints to 646 00:33:02,240 --> 00:33:04,680 Speaker 1: put him over the top. Yeah, I just alluded to 647 00:33:04,760 --> 00:33:08,240 Speaker 1: wide receiver. I do feel like they could use a 648 00:33:08,360 --> 00:33:11,680 Speaker 1: young wide receiver, even though they added Emmanuel Sanders this 649 00:33:11,800 --> 00:33:16,080 Speaker 1: soft season to join up with Michael Thomas. But I 650 00:33:16,120 --> 00:33:20,400 Speaker 1: would definitely also look at linebacker. A. J. Kleine left 651 00:33:20,600 --> 00:33:24,800 Speaker 1: to free agency to go to Buffalo. Alexand Alone and 652 00:33:24,960 --> 00:33:27,720 Speaker 1: Kiko Alonso have both been injury laden and the only 653 00:33:27,760 --> 00:33:31,840 Speaker 1: real linebacker they had that we know who can regularly 654 00:33:31,880 --> 00:33:35,120 Speaker 1: stay healthy is za Mario O'Davis. So I do feel 655 00:33:35,160 --> 00:33:37,440 Speaker 1: like that the Saints have not really addressed that in 656 00:33:37,480 --> 00:33:42,320 Speaker 1: free agency either. So I think linebacker also interior offensive line, 657 00:33:42,360 --> 00:33:45,680 Speaker 1: that's kind of a sneaky poet, uh for the Saints 658 00:33:45,720 --> 00:33:49,600 Speaker 1: to possibly look at. With Larry Warford going into the 659 00:33:49,640 --> 00:33:53,160 Speaker 1: final year of his contract. Well, then I imagine Larry, 660 00:33:53,240 --> 00:33:56,600 Speaker 1: this line's up pretty well. Because Justin Jefferson is still 661 00:33:56,640 --> 00:34:00,240 Speaker 1: hanging around the twenty four and Patrick Queen hanging round 662 00:34:00,360 --> 00:34:03,800 Speaker 1: at twenty four. Who's your pick for the Saints overall 663 00:34:04,080 --> 00:34:08,719 Speaker 1: in the Giants huddle knock draft, that's the debate, and uh, 664 00:34:08,840 --> 00:34:12,319 Speaker 1: it hits really close to Homes and Dellas just right 665 00:34:12,400 --> 00:34:15,560 Speaker 1: down the road. Uh. So the Saints are certainly familiar 666 00:34:15,600 --> 00:34:19,200 Speaker 1: with both Patrick Queen and and Justin Jefferson. The fact 667 00:34:19,280 --> 00:34:21,279 Speaker 1: that Queen is on the board, though I'm gonna go 668 00:34:21,400 --> 00:34:25,600 Speaker 1: lineback and Kate Patrick Queen middle linebacker. They could certainly 669 00:34:25,680 --> 00:34:31,360 Speaker 1: use the middle linebacker within this group and wide receiver. 670 00:34:31,560 --> 00:34:34,239 Speaker 1: Because of the depth of the draft, uh and the 671 00:34:34,440 --> 00:34:38,000 Speaker 1: lack of totally by adding Sanders in in the off season, 672 00:34:38,000 --> 00:34:40,719 Speaker 1: and free agency doesn't mean they have to take a 673 00:34:40,719 --> 00:34:44,480 Speaker 1: wide receiver right now. But Patrick Queen falls right into 674 00:34:44,480 --> 00:34:47,680 Speaker 1: their laps and the Saints will take him, and I 675 00:34:47,719 --> 00:34:50,480 Speaker 1: think he would jump in immediately. Uh, and you try 676 00:34:50,520 --> 00:34:53,359 Speaker 1: to push him to be your starter middle linebacker week 677 00:34:53,440 --> 00:34:55,880 Speaker 1: one of the season. Tremendous stuff, Larry. I hope you 678 00:34:55,920 --> 00:34:58,640 Speaker 1: and your family everybody's stay safe. Stay safe, and we'll 679 00:34:58,640 --> 00:35:01,040 Speaker 1: talk to you down the road. I appreciate the time, Yetta, 680 00:35:01,120 --> 00:35:03,880 Speaker 1: thanks for having We thank Larry Holder from the athletic 681 00:35:03,920 --> 00:35:06,160 Speaker 1: We go to his colleague back up in Minnesota. We 682 00:35:06,200 --> 00:35:08,520 Speaker 1: heard from just a couple of picks ago. We welcome 683 00:35:08,560 --> 00:35:11,000 Speaker 1: back in a reef Hasan a reef. We talked about 684 00:35:11,000 --> 00:35:14,239 Speaker 1: either a corner or receiver at your last pick. Two 685 00:35:14,320 --> 00:35:17,560 Speaker 1: linebackers and Kenneth Murray and Patrick Queen. Since you made 686 00:35:17,600 --> 00:35:21,240 Speaker 1: that selection, you went cornerback before. Is this an easy 687 00:35:21,239 --> 00:35:22,960 Speaker 1: one to look at the top wide receiver on the 688 00:35:23,000 --> 00:35:25,960 Speaker 1: board right here? Yeah? Absolutely. You know, we were a 689 00:35:26,000 --> 00:35:28,440 Speaker 1: little bit worried that that that receiver might be gone, 690 00:35:28,480 --> 00:35:31,879 Speaker 1: but we really like the talent at the position. Uh, 691 00:35:31,920 --> 00:35:34,800 Speaker 1: It's still important to try and grab as much counting 692 00:35:34,840 --> 00:35:36,239 Speaker 1: as you can't one of the most important positions in 693 00:35:36,239 --> 00:35:39,520 Speaker 1: the NFL. So with the pick, the Vikings will select 694 00:35:39,719 --> 00:35:44,160 Speaker 1: wide receiver justin Jefferson, who is a really good route runner, 695 00:35:44,680 --> 00:35:47,720 Speaker 1: doesn't have elite athletic traits, but above average and almost 696 00:35:47,719 --> 00:35:51,440 Speaker 1: that every category, especially when it comes to quickness. Obviously, 697 00:35:51,520 --> 00:35:53,160 Speaker 1: you know you're gonna have to worry about whether or 698 00:35:53,160 --> 00:35:54,960 Speaker 1: not he'll be able to perform in press, whether or 699 00:35:54,960 --> 00:35:57,040 Speaker 1: not he'll be able to perform outside of that really 700 00:35:57,120 --> 00:36:00,120 Speaker 1: excellent offense that elis you had um, but he be 701 00:36:00,160 --> 00:36:03,120 Speaker 1: a great compliment to Adam Feeling. Any thoughts to maybe 702 00:36:03,120 --> 00:36:06,359 Speaker 1: picking one of the bigger outside receivers here rather than 703 00:36:06,400 --> 00:36:09,120 Speaker 1: someone like Jefferson who operated almost primarily out of the 704 00:36:09,120 --> 00:36:12,440 Speaker 1: slot in college, whether it's a Denzel Mims or a 705 00:36:12,480 --> 00:36:15,760 Speaker 1: Michael Pittman or Te Higgins or a Brandon Iook somebody 706 00:36:15,800 --> 00:36:19,840 Speaker 1: like that. Yeah, certainly that that that certainly crossed my mind. 707 00:36:20,000 --> 00:36:23,160 Speaker 1: And having kind of a big play, big catch receiver 708 00:36:23,640 --> 00:36:25,359 Speaker 1: like one of those guys that you mentioned, I think 709 00:36:25,360 --> 00:36:26,920 Speaker 1: would help a lot, especially in the red zone. But 710 00:36:26,920 --> 00:36:30,279 Speaker 1: it turns out Adam Feeling is really great at those 711 00:36:30,320 --> 00:36:32,920 Speaker 1: situations despite only being about six ft all. He plays 712 00:36:32,960 --> 00:36:35,320 Speaker 1: a lot like a six four, big contested catch receiver 713 00:36:35,640 --> 00:36:37,560 Speaker 1: when it comes to the red zone, and I kind 714 00:36:37,560 --> 00:36:39,360 Speaker 1: of want to replicate some of the things that that 715 00:36:39,480 --> 00:36:42,520 Speaker 1: offense did with Stefon digs in there. I think Jefferson 716 00:36:42,560 --> 00:36:44,640 Speaker 1: comes the closest that way. You can do all the 717 00:36:44,680 --> 00:36:46,919 Speaker 1: same stuff that was working for the offense pretty well, 718 00:36:47,239 --> 00:36:50,279 Speaker 1: and you can you can kind of expand in terms 719 00:36:50,320 --> 00:36:53,480 Speaker 1: of just making sure that jefferson skill set translate to 720 00:36:53,520 --> 00:36:55,760 Speaker 1: the NFL. So I certainly think that that's a good idea. 721 00:36:55,840 --> 00:36:57,919 Speaker 1: With how many good big bodies there are, I think 722 00:36:57,920 --> 00:36:59,879 Speaker 1: you can also find that type a little bit later 723 00:37:00,040 --> 00:37:02,120 Speaker 1: the draft. I wouldn't be surprised if the Vikings double 724 00:37:02,120 --> 00:37:05,400 Speaker 1: dipped any thought at a pass rusher at this spot. 725 00:37:05,480 --> 00:37:08,640 Speaker 1: Anyone worth the bang for the buck in your opinion, Yeah, 726 00:37:08,800 --> 00:37:10,600 Speaker 1: there's a couple of pass rushers. You know. You take 727 00:37:10,640 --> 00:37:13,120 Speaker 1: a look at the Penn State kid, gross models, you 728 00:37:13,160 --> 00:37:16,080 Speaker 1: take a look at the IOA kid pretty close to 729 00:37:16,080 --> 00:37:18,960 Speaker 1: to where the Vikings are. Uh and in the biggest 730 00:37:18,960 --> 00:37:21,839 Speaker 1: problem in this draft is that the talent at edge 731 00:37:21,880 --> 00:37:23,840 Speaker 1: rusher does drop off the later you go. But the 732 00:37:23,920 --> 00:37:27,360 Speaker 1: Vikings don't really pick edge rushers in the first two rounds. 733 00:37:27,360 --> 00:37:29,439 Speaker 1: You know, they get their Everson Griffins in the fourth 734 00:37:29,480 --> 00:37:32,160 Speaker 1: round or Daniel Hunter in the third round. They've been 735 00:37:32,160 --> 00:37:33,920 Speaker 1: doing it again and again. They haven't picked him since 736 00:37:33,960 --> 00:37:37,480 Speaker 1: two dozen five, so I think, yeah, and they've always 737 00:37:37,520 --> 00:37:39,719 Speaker 1: been able to produce really excellent pass rush. So I 738 00:37:39,760 --> 00:37:43,000 Speaker 1: think you trust what that what that excellent defensive line coach. Uh, 739 00:37:43,040 --> 00:37:45,520 Speaker 1: you know staff can do for you. Grab somebody in 740 00:37:45,520 --> 00:37:47,600 Speaker 1: the third, fourth round that that meets kind of their 741 00:37:47,600 --> 00:37:50,359 Speaker 1: athletic thresholds. Uh and and hope it works out because 742 00:37:50,400 --> 00:37:52,960 Speaker 1: they've earned the trust a Reef, great stuff, my friends, 743 00:37:52,960 --> 00:37:55,839 Speaker 1: stay safe, and we appreciate your time taking two selections 744 00:37:55,840 --> 00:37:58,200 Speaker 1: for us in this year's mock draft. Yeah, thanks for 745 00:37:58,280 --> 00:38:01,160 Speaker 1: having me. We thank a Reef for Son for making 746 00:38:01,320 --> 00:38:05,040 Speaker 1: that second pick for the Minnesota Vikings in the last four. 747 00:38:05,640 --> 00:38:08,000 Speaker 1: Now all head over to another familiar face, the man 748 00:38:08,080 --> 00:38:12,400 Speaker 1: that's making his third pick in this year's Giants Huddle 749 00:38:12,680 --> 00:38:18,400 Speaker 1: mock draft, Armando Salgaro. He covers the Maami Dolphins for 750 00:38:18,440 --> 00:38:22,400 Speaker 1: the Miami Herald, and he's selecting a pick number twenty six. Armando, 751 00:38:22,520 --> 00:38:27,040 Speaker 1: have you are you surprised at all about who's gone 752 00:38:27,200 --> 00:38:32,399 Speaker 1: off the board? Since we last spoke. I'm not surprised, 753 00:38:32,880 --> 00:38:37,040 Speaker 1: but I'm, you know, to be honest with you, John, 754 00:38:37,120 --> 00:38:40,760 Speaker 1: I'm gonna go in a different direction. So it doesn't 755 00:38:40,840 --> 00:38:46,400 Speaker 1: matter what what has happened, um, because I'm I've got 756 00:38:46,480 --> 00:38:52,000 Speaker 1: a strategy. I'm gonna do the I've got a strategy play. Okay, Well, 757 00:38:52,320 --> 00:38:56,880 Speaker 1: talk to me about your strategy, alright. So obviously early 758 00:38:56,960 --> 00:39:02,120 Speaker 1: on I picked a quarterback and then I picked the 759 00:39:02,239 --> 00:39:05,480 Speaker 1: left tackle that I hope can start. I would have 760 00:39:05,520 --> 00:39:10,400 Speaker 1: loved to have gotten Andrew Thomas, but dang it, who's 761 00:39:10,480 --> 00:39:15,560 Speaker 1: gone and and so right, and so I you know, 762 00:39:15,680 --> 00:39:20,520 Speaker 1: I went with the next available, best player available at tackle, 763 00:39:21,600 --> 00:39:27,520 Speaker 1: and I believe that was Jackson, correct from USC. All right, Well, 764 00:39:27,760 --> 00:39:30,040 Speaker 1: i still have that quarterback that I want to protect, 765 00:39:30,600 --> 00:39:32,640 Speaker 1: and I'm going to go back to the offensive line. 766 00:39:33,239 --> 00:39:39,040 Speaker 1: Because here's the thing. The Miami Dolphins have had a 767 00:39:39,160 --> 00:39:43,680 Speaker 1: search going on for a franchise quarterbacks in stam Marino 768 00:39:44,360 --> 00:39:51,680 Speaker 1: retired and after so that's a long time twenty years. 769 00:39:52,120 --> 00:39:55,000 Speaker 1: Guess what. One of the reasons they haven't been able 770 00:39:55,040 --> 00:40:00,560 Speaker 1: to identify a good quarterback and actually have them produce 771 00:40:01,040 --> 00:40:03,920 Speaker 1: is they haven't really had a good offensive line in 772 00:40:03,960 --> 00:40:07,960 Speaker 1: a long time either, um, and I think it's time. 773 00:40:08,320 --> 00:40:12,359 Speaker 1: So I'm going back to the offensive line again with 774 00:40:12,440 --> 00:40:14,799 Speaker 1: my third pick in the first round. All right, make 775 00:40:14,840 --> 00:40:16,120 Speaker 1: the pick and then we'll talk about it. Who do 776 00:40:16,160 --> 00:40:19,160 Speaker 1: you got, Armando? All right? So I am going to 777 00:40:19,320 --> 00:40:24,720 Speaker 1: take unless I'm wrong, Josh Jones is still available? Correct, 778 00:40:24,840 --> 00:40:26,560 Speaker 1: Yes he is, sir, And you I know he was 779 00:40:26,600 --> 00:40:28,120 Speaker 1: one of the two guys you were considering with your 780 00:40:28,200 --> 00:40:34,320 Speaker 1: last pick. Correct. And so I'm taking Josh Jones with 781 00:40:34,920 --> 00:40:43,400 Speaker 1: my twenty what overall pick? Overall pick? And I was 782 00:40:43,520 --> 00:40:51,359 Speaker 1: thinking of doing the center position instead with uh with 783 00:40:51,480 --> 00:40:57,120 Speaker 1: the Michigan kids, Caesar Ruiz, especially because as the general 784 00:40:57,160 --> 00:40:59,719 Speaker 1: manager of the Miami Dolphins, I like to make my 785 00:40:59,760 --> 00:41:03,799 Speaker 1: own They're happy, and Stephen Ross is a big time 786 00:41:03,840 --> 00:41:11,520 Speaker 1: Michigan guy. But and I like my job. But I 787 00:41:11,560 --> 00:41:14,480 Speaker 1: think i'm you know, the tackle is the is the 788 00:41:14,520 --> 00:41:16,879 Speaker 1: better value at this page. So that's what I'm doing. 789 00:41:17,320 --> 00:41:19,680 Speaker 1: Any thought to a running back. I believe you mentioned 790 00:41:19,719 --> 00:41:22,239 Speaker 1: that thought to me in one of your prior selections 791 00:41:22,280 --> 00:41:26,120 Speaker 1: as well. Sure, yeah, no, there are there are some 792 00:41:26,760 --> 00:41:32,160 Speaker 1: outstanding running backs still available, and I've got two second 793 00:41:32,239 --> 00:41:38,360 Speaker 1: round picks. That sounds about perfect, doesn't it. Yeah, absolutely, Armando, 794 00:41:38,480 --> 00:41:40,719 Speaker 1: great stuff, my friend. We really appreciate you making three 795 00:41:40,760 --> 00:41:43,680 Speaker 1: picks for us this year. Hopefully the Dolphins will make 796 00:41:43,719 --> 00:41:46,399 Speaker 1: some good ones for your saken. You know, the NFC East, 797 00:41:46,440 --> 00:41:50,040 Speaker 1: it's a whole new world. Who knows what's going to happen. Yah, Well, 798 00:41:50,080 --> 00:41:52,680 Speaker 1: all I can tell you is next year the Dolphins 799 00:41:52,760 --> 00:41:56,319 Speaker 1: have two first round picks. Again, nothing wrong with that, 800 00:41:56,400 --> 00:42:00,400 Speaker 1: my friend. Thank you, Armando. We thank Armando sell Garrow 801 00:42:00,440 --> 00:42:03,440 Speaker 1: from the Mammi Herald for making the Dolphins third first 802 00:42:03,520 --> 00:42:05,399 Speaker 1: round pick in our mock draft. And now we turn 803 00:42:05,440 --> 00:42:08,480 Speaker 1: our attention back to the west coast of the Seattle 804 00:42:08,520 --> 00:42:12,440 Speaker 1: Seahawks to Bob Condata, who covers them for the Seattle Times. Bob, 805 00:42:12,840 --> 00:42:14,799 Speaker 1: thanks for being with us first of all. And the 806 00:42:14,840 --> 00:42:18,480 Speaker 1: Seahawks are the kings of unpredictability here, so I'm putting 807 00:42:18,480 --> 00:42:20,560 Speaker 1: in a really tough spot to try to actually predict 808 00:42:20,600 --> 00:42:24,880 Speaker 1: what they're gonna do. Yeah, although they have a they 809 00:42:24,880 --> 00:42:27,480 Speaker 1: have a really really obvious need this year, so you 810 00:42:27,480 --> 00:42:30,719 Speaker 1: know you're seeing almost everybody, um sort of give them 811 00:42:30,719 --> 00:42:33,120 Speaker 1: a defensive lineman and particularly a defensive end that somebody 812 00:42:33,160 --> 00:42:35,759 Speaker 1: who's arrested the pastor because that was the real big 813 00:42:35,800 --> 00:42:37,799 Speaker 1: Achilles seat. The last year they only had twenty eight 814 00:42:37,800 --> 00:42:41,280 Speaker 1: sacks um. Only the Miami Dolphins I think had fewer 815 00:42:41,280 --> 00:42:43,600 Speaker 1: than that. Uh So it was a real issue for them, 816 00:42:43,680 --> 00:42:46,319 Speaker 1: and they said going into the off season, improving that 817 00:42:46,440 --> 00:42:49,840 Speaker 1: was going to be basically their number one goal. And 818 00:42:50,080 --> 00:42:51,960 Speaker 1: they don't even look like they've done that really yet 819 00:42:52,000 --> 00:42:54,719 Speaker 1: because they haven't been able to resign Dadavian Clowney and 820 00:42:55,080 --> 00:42:57,400 Speaker 1: some other things. So, uh, you know, it looks for 821 00:42:57,480 --> 00:42:59,120 Speaker 1: all the world out here like they're waiting to the 822 00:42:59,160 --> 00:43:01,800 Speaker 1: draft to release try to address that. What's your field? 823 00:43:01,840 --> 00:43:03,880 Speaker 1: Do you think they're still in the mix for Clowney? 824 00:43:03,880 --> 00:43:06,680 Speaker 1: What do you think is going on there? Um? You know, 825 00:43:06,960 --> 00:43:08,800 Speaker 1: I mean I think there's I think there's a chance. 826 00:43:08,840 --> 00:43:11,080 Speaker 1: But obviously they didn't give him the kind of offer 827 00:43:11,160 --> 00:43:12,880 Speaker 1: he was expecting. I think he was I think he 828 00:43:12,920 --> 00:43:15,480 Speaker 1: really wanted to, you know, a twenty million dollar a 829 00:43:15,560 --> 00:43:17,480 Speaker 1: year kind of offered, and I don't think they ever 830 00:43:17,560 --> 00:43:19,680 Speaker 1: came anywhere close to that. And it's just sort of 831 00:43:19,680 --> 00:43:22,239 Speaker 1: a difference of opinion over what a guy's worth basically, 832 00:43:22,800 --> 00:43:25,680 Speaker 1: And uh, you know, the Seahawks have they've this is 833 00:43:25,719 --> 00:43:27,440 Speaker 1: sort of how they run the franchise the last ten 834 00:43:27,480 --> 00:43:29,279 Speaker 1: years since Pete Carroll and John Sider have been there. 835 00:43:29,280 --> 00:43:30,799 Speaker 1: And that's why you've seen some of their you know, 836 00:43:30,800 --> 00:43:33,719 Speaker 1: they didn't buzz on Richard Sherman or Earl Thomas or 837 00:43:33,800 --> 00:43:35,720 Speaker 1: some of these other guys you know who had really 838 00:43:35,719 --> 00:43:38,839 Speaker 1: long um tenures here. They sort of decide what they 839 00:43:38,880 --> 00:43:40,680 Speaker 1: think a guy's value is and sort of stick to it, 840 00:43:40,719 --> 00:43:42,920 Speaker 1: and that's what they've done here with Clowney. But you know, 841 00:43:42,960 --> 00:43:45,479 Speaker 1: Clowney is not getting better offers to anybody helps either, 842 00:43:45,560 --> 00:43:48,600 Speaker 1: otherwise he'd be signed um with somebody right now. So 843 00:43:48,760 --> 00:43:50,480 Speaker 1: you know, I think there's still a chance that it works, 844 00:43:50,480 --> 00:43:52,200 Speaker 1: that it kind of circles back unto the ends up 845 00:43:52,200 --> 00:43:55,880 Speaker 1: with the Seahawks, So Bob, But then this was not 846 00:43:56,040 --> 00:43:59,279 Speaker 1: a great draft for defensive ends and pass rushers the 847 00:43:59,320 --> 00:44:01,400 Speaker 1: top two off the board, which I'm sure you're not 848 00:44:01,440 --> 00:44:05,080 Speaker 1: surprised by, Calevan Chase On gone obviously, Chase Young gone. 849 00:44:05,320 --> 00:44:07,480 Speaker 1: Who are the pass rushers that you think the Seahawks 850 00:44:07,480 --> 00:44:11,080 Speaker 1: would be thinking about at this spot at Yeah, I 851 00:44:11,120 --> 00:44:13,680 Speaker 1: think a j. Panessa of Iowa I think would make 852 00:44:13,719 --> 00:44:15,480 Speaker 1: a lot of sense. And then I think the guy 853 00:44:15,520 --> 00:44:17,880 Speaker 1: that you're seeing a lot of people, uh speculate as 854 00:44:17,880 --> 00:44:21,239 Speaker 1: a Seattle gets her gross Patasa penn State. Uh. If 855 00:44:21,239 --> 00:44:22,680 Speaker 1: I had to pick one of those two, would probably 856 00:44:22,719 --> 00:44:26,680 Speaker 1: go with gross grossmtas Um. He sort of just fits 857 00:44:26,680 --> 00:44:28,440 Speaker 1: the profile a little bit more of being just a 858 00:44:28,480 --> 00:44:31,319 Speaker 1: pure pass rusher, which is really what Seattle needs. They 859 00:44:31,360 --> 00:44:32,960 Speaker 1: just kind of need some speed off the edge. They 860 00:44:33,000 --> 00:44:34,960 Speaker 1: find a couple of veteran guys who have been with 861 00:44:35,000 --> 00:44:38,080 Speaker 1: Seattle before, Bruce Servant and Benson Mayowa. But you know, 862 00:44:38,160 --> 00:44:40,560 Speaker 1: neither of them necessarily project as being you know, a 863 00:44:40,560 --> 00:44:43,359 Speaker 1: real long term fixes at that at all, So they 864 00:44:43,360 --> 00:44:45,160 Speaker 1: definitely need to add a young pass rusher. So I 865 00:44:45,200 --> 00:44:47,479 Speaker 1: think he'd probably be the more logical of those two. 866 00:44:47,680 --> 00:44:50,279 Speaker 1: All right, so let's make it official, Bob, who do 867 00:44:50,320 --> 00:44:55,160 Speaker 1: you predict that the Yeah, yeah, you have to Grossmatas 868 00:44:55,360 --> 00:44:58,160 Speaker 1: penn State. Um, well, just pencil him and pen him, 869 00:44:58,200 --> 00:44:59,920 Speaker 1: put him in ink there for the Seahawks there and 870 00:45:00,000 --> 00:45:01,839 Speaker 1: over twenties seven. You think any chance of to trade 871 00:45:01,880 --> 00:45:05,080 Speaker 1: down here for Seattle, You think they're gonna stay put? No, 872 00:45:05,160 --> 00:45:06,640 Speaker 1: I think it's a great chance they trade down. They 873 00:45:06,640 --> 00:45:09,960 Speaker 1: haven't used the original first round picks in two thousand eleven, 874 00:45:10,080 --> 00:45:14,360 Speaker 1: so it's sort of the always yeah, and they always, 875 00:45:14,360 --> 00:45:16,200 Speaker 1: I mean they've they've used first round picks, but not 876 00:45:16,239 --> 00:45:18,719 Speaker 1: their original one since two thousand eleven. Every year since 877 00:45:18,719 --> 00:45:21,239 Speaker 1: then they traded their first round pick in one way 878 00:45:21,320 --> 00:45:24,120 Speaker 1: or another. And uh, yeah, for sure, it makes a 879 00:45:24,160 --> 00:45:26,040 Speaker 1: lot of sense. They only have seven draft picks at 880 00:45:26,040 --> 00:45:29,279 Speaker 1: the moment um, which would be the fewest last when 881 00:45:29,480 --> 00:45:31,360 Speaker 1: last year about this time they had four picks and 882 00:45:31,360 --> 00:45:33,600 Speaker 1: they ended up with eleven by the time the draft ended. 883 00:45:33,640 --> 00:45:36,239 Speaker 1: So they're sort of that's sort of John Snyder's mo 884 00:45:36,480 --> 00:45:39,400 Speaker 1: is to try to accumulate picks, especially in sort of 885 00:45:39,400 --> 00:45:41,759 Speaker 1: those middle rounds. He likes to try to do that. 886 00:45:42,200 --> 00:45:43,840 Speaker 1: You know, last year they did a lot of packaging 887 00:45:43,840 --> 00:45:46,040 Speaker 1: and picks ended up with some extra ones that they 888 00:45:46,080 --> 00:45:48,319 Speaker 1: were able to trade up and go get Dk Metcalfine 889 00:45:48,440 --> 00:45:51,359 Speaker 1: and the flexibility to go after players that they really liked, 890 00:45:51,480 --> 00:45:54,359 Speaker 1: especially in sort of those middle rounds. Bob, we really 891 00:45:54,400 --> 00:45:57,440 Speaker 1: appreciate the time, my friend. Stay safe and enjoy the draft. 892 00:45:58,320 --> 00:46:02,000 Speaker 1: All right, Okay, thank you, We thank Bob can data 893 00:46:02,040 --> 00:46:05,759 Speaker 1: from the Seattle Times, you too. Grossmatos is off the 894 00:46:05,800 --> 00:46:07,759 Speaker 1: board and we head back to the East Coast to 895 00:46:07,840 --> 00:46:10,080 Speaker 1: a good buddy. We've had many a drink at the 896 00:46:10,200 --> 00:46:13,799 Speaker 1: NFL Combine over the course of the last decade or so, 897 00:46:13,840 --> 00:46:16,360 Speaker 1: it feels like. And that's Garrett Danning, who is the 898 00:46:16,400 --> 00:46:19,640 Speaker 1: team reporter for the Ravens wet website for the Baltimore Ravens. Garrett, 899 00:46:19,640 --> 00:46:23,120 Speaker 1: good to hear your voice, man, Hope everything's good with you. Yeah, 900 00:46:23,200 --> 00:46:24,880 Speaker 1: great to catch jus you. I hope you're doing well. 901 00:46:25,480 --> 00:46:28,319 Speaker 1: It's uh, you know when I hear of the guy 902 00:46:28,440 --> 00:46:30,440 Speaker 1: you tour, Gross Massa is coming off the board right 903 00:46:30,480 --> 00:46:32,920 Speaker 1: before the Ravens. He would have been an interesting option 904 00:46:33,560 --> 00:46:37,080 Speaker 1: for them. It's so it's uh, Seahawks may it's not 905 00:46:37,239 --> 00:46:39,040 Speaker 1: the same thing, and they just take care of business. 906 00:46:39,360 --> 00:46:41,640 Speaker 1: One pick for the Ravens are on the board, all right, 907 00:46:41,680 --> 00:46:45,480 Speaker 1: So besides pass rush, given what you just said, what 908 00:46:45,600 --> 00:46:48,280 Speaker 1: other needs are you really looking at for the Ravens 909 00:46:48,280 --> 00:46:50,960 Speaker 1: here in the first round of this year's draft. Yeah, 910 00:46:51,000 --> 00:46:53,719 Speaker 1: I think offensive line, martially yawned to the right guard 911 00:46:53,800 --> 00:46:55,560 Speaker 1: who's probably gonna be a Hall of Famer one day, 912 00:46:55,880 --> 00:46:59,080 Speaker 1: retired this offseason, So that leaves a massive hole in 913 00:46:59,080 --> 00:47:01,680 Speaker 1: the middle of the Ravens offensive line. And then pass 914 00:47:01,800 --> 00:47:04,560 Speaker 1: rush certainly is an area. And then linebacker I think 915 00:47:04,560 --> 00:47:07,600 Speaker 1: those are the you know, kind of big three. UM. 916 00:47:07,680 --> 00:47:10,440 Speaker 1: Inside linebacker could be a position that the Ravens look 917 00:47:10,480 --> 00:47:13,280 Speaker 1: to address in the first round. Now, the top three 918 00:47:13,840 --> 00:47:16,040 Speaker 1: linebackers are all off the board already based on this 919 00:47:16,200 --> 00:47:19,440 Speaker 1: mock um, so that puts you know, that position a 920 00:47:19,520 --> 00:47:23,200 Speaker 1: little bit in a difficult situation. UM. And then I 921 00:47:23,200 --> 00:47:25,680 Speaker 1: think there's an out by chance of wide receiver, a 922 00:47:25,680 --> 00:47:28,600 Speaker 1: guy like a Tee Higgins could the Ravens could consider, 923 00:47:29,080 --> 00:47:31,160 Speaker 1: uh here. So I would think that if I were 924 00:47:31,200 --> 00:47:35,799 Speaker 1: putting priority wise, I think it's offensive line, it's linebacker, 925 00:47:36,160 --> 00:47:38,520 Speaker 1: and then it's the combination of either pass rush or 926 00:47:38,600 --> 00:47:44,080 Speaker 1: wide receiver. Do you think given the drop off, I 927 00:47:44,120 --> 00:47:46,280 Speaker 1: think most people think there is one, at least after 928 00:47:46,360 --> 00:47:49,760 Speaker 1: Patrick Queen and Kenneth Murray, that the Ravens might consider 929 00:47:49,880 --> 00:47:51,840 Speaker 1: a move up here to try to grab one of 930 00:47:51,840 --> 00:47:55,520 Speaker 1: those interior linebackers to be the centerpiece of that defense. 931 00:47:56,280 --> 00:47:57,879 Speaker 1: I think that there is a chance. I don't think 932 00:47:57,880 --> 00:48:01,120 Speaker 1: they would go up too far. Um. Eric to Costa, 933 00:48:01,160 --> 00:48:03,960 Speaker 1: the gentle manager of the Ravens, low picks, and he's 934 00:48:04,000 --> 00:48:07,040 Speaker 1: always looking, you know, if if things played out on 935 00:48:07,200 --> 00:48:10,319 Speaker 1: draft weekend the way they have in this draft, I 936 00:48:10,360 --> 00:48:12,520 Speaker 1: think the Ravens would be working the phones to try 937 00:48:12,600 --> 00:48:15,480 Speaker 1: to move back. I think that's the more likely scenario, 938 00:48:15,840 --> 00:48:18,120 Speaker 1: moved back to say seven or eight picks maybe out 939 00:48:18,120 --> 00:48:21,160 Speaker 1: of the first round, and then try to accumulate some 940 00:48:21,200 --> 00:48:25,200 Speaker 1: additional assets. They've already got a lot of picks in 941 00:48:25,239 --> 00:48:27,799 Speaker 1: the They've got nine picks in this year's draft, two 942 00:48:27,840 --> 00:48:30,799 Speaker 1: second rounders, two third rounders. But if they could add 943 00:48:30,840 --> 00:48:33,399 Speaker 1: even more in that second third round range, I think 944 00:48:33,400 --> 00:48:35,560 Speaker 1: that they would jump at that opportunity. So if the 945 00:48:35,640 --> 00:48:37,600 Speaker 1: board looks like it does right now, I think the 946 00:48:37,640 --> 00:48:40,719 Speaker 1: most likely situation would probably be worked the phones to 947 00:48:40,760 --> 00:48:43,880 Speaker 1: see if they can move back all right. Unfortunately, trading 948 00:48:43,960 --> 00:48:47,040 Speaker 1: is not an option here. And like you said that, 949 00:48:47,160 --> 00:48:49,640 Speaker 1: the top two linebackers off the board. Not a ton 950 00:48:49,680 --> 00:48:52,440 Speaker 1: of top interior offensive lineman in this draft. Not a 951 00:48:52,440 --> 00:48:55,000 Speaker 1: great pass rush draft either. Wide receivers pretty deep though. 952 00:48:55,040 --> 00:48:58,360 Speaker 1: So Garrett, with Ravens stand here, who's your selection for 953 00:48:58,400 --> 00:49:02,399 Speaker 1: them at number twenty eight in the Giants Huddle mock draft? Yeah? 954 00:49:02,440 --> 00:49:04,479 Speaker 1: I would say there's three guys that I'd been besiding between. 955 00:49:04,600 --> 00:49:08,880 Speaker 1: Zack von linebacker from Wisconsin, j F Vanessa, uh pass 956 00:49:08,960 --> 00:49:11,480 Speaker 1: rusher out of Iowa, but I'm gonna go with the 957 00:49:11,560 --> 00:49:15,960 Speaker 1: Michigan center guard season Ruise. Uh. They could he could 958 00:49:15,960 --> 00:49:18,000 Speaker 1: be a plug and place starter, can play center, could 959 00:49:18,040 --> 00:49:20,879 Speaker 1: also play guard. Um, so he's somebody. Like I said, 960 00:49:20,880 --> 00:49:23,720 Speaker 1: the Ravens want to continue to upgrade that offensive line, 961 00:49:23,840 --> 00:49:26,799 Speaker 1: especially with the retirement of Martia Yonda, and I think 962 00:49:26,880 --> 00:49:30,000 Speaker 1: Ruise would be a day one starter. Likely they can 963 00:49:30,040 --> 00:49:31,960 Speaker 1: move back and maybe try to get him. Say it, 964 00:49:32,239 --> 00:49:36,160 Speaker 1: you know, in the in the early thirties. But I 965 00:49:36,200 --> 00:49:38,200 Speaker 1: think what I'm playing by the rules here, But I'm 966 00:49:38,200 --> 00:49:40,080 Speaker 1: just gonna go ahead and take him and get a 967 00:49:40,239 --> 00:49:42,560 Speaker 1: day one starter on the offensive line here, pick number 968 00:49:42,560 --> 00:49:44,319 Speaker 1: twenty eight for the Ravens. Well, if they do want 969 00:49:44,320 --> 00:49:47,120 Speaker 1: to move down and get and get Ruise, I'll slide 970 00:49:47,120 --> 00:49:49,480 Speaker 1: you a little secret here. And again this is not 971 00:49:49,520 --> 00:49:51,520 Speaker 1: inside information, but there's a lot of chatter up here 972 00:49:51,560 --> 00:49:53,680 Speaker 1: that the Giants could be looking center at thirty six, 973 00:49:53,680 --> 00:49:55,640 Speaker 1: So I would not move anywhere past there. If you 974 00:49:55,640 --> 00:49:57,560 Speaker 1: want to make sure you get your guy, all right, 975 00:49:57,600 --> 00:50:01,640 Speaker 1: get to know, I'll pass that along. I appreciated Garrett. 976 00:50:01,680 --> 00:50:03,759 Speaker 1: That good stuff. And we'll talk to you down the road, 977 00:50:03,760 --> 00:50:06,160 Speaker 1: all right, pal, all right, man, talk to you later, 978 00:50:06,560 --> 00:50:11,000 Speaker 1: all right. We thank Garrett Downing from Baltimore Ravens team website. 979 00:50:11,000 --> 00:50:13,440 Speaker 1: They select Caesar Louisa Center out of Michigan. We go 980 00:50:13,520 --> 00:50:16,360 Speaker 1: to pick twenty nine for the Tennessee Titans. We welcome 981 00:50:16,360 --> 00:50:18,919 Speaker 1: to Paul Coharsky has covered the NFL for a long time. 982 00:50:18,960 --> 00:50:21,120 Speaker 1: You can find the work at Paul Coharsky dot com 983 00:50:21,400 --> 00:50:23,359 Speaker 1: and on the Midday one eighty on one oh four 984 00:50:23,520 --> 00:50:27,160 Speaker 1: five the Zone down in Nashville. Paul, thanks so much 985 00:50:27,200 --> 00:50:28,960 Speaker 1: for being with us. Hope everybody in your world is 986 00:50:29,000 --> 00:50:32,640 Speaker 1: safe and healthy and doing well. What are your thoughts here, 987 00:50:32,680 --> 00:50:35,000 Speaker 1: just in terms of the Titans overall approach and their 988 00:50:35,080 --> 00:50:37,440 Speaker 1: thoughts with where they are after making a bit of 989 00:50:37,440 --> 00:50:42,880 Speaker 1: a Cinderella playoff run last year. Picking at twenty nine. Yeah, well, uh, 990 00:50:43,040 --> 00:50:47,680 Speaker 1: it was a big free agent um offseason and keeping 991 00:50:47,800 --> 00:50:51,680 Speaker 1: Ryan's Tannehill with the new contract and keeping Derrick Henry 992 00:50:51,760 --> 00:50:55,720 Speaker 1: with the franchise tag obviously the two big moves. Lost 993 00:50:55,800 --> 00:50:59,360 Speaker 1: Jack Conklin to the Browns uh in free agency, but 994 00:51:00,280 --> 00:51:02,560 Speaker 1: resigned Dennis Kelly, who has been their swing guy. I 995 00:51:02,600 --> 00:51:05,760 Speaker 1: think they still need a right tackle to compete with him, 996 00:51:05,800 --> 00:51:08,200 Speaker 1: and that would have been in consideration for me. Here 997 00:51:08,400 --> 00:51:14,200 Speaker 1: losing Logan Ryan. It appears very versatile nickelback UM, and 998 00:51:14,680 --> 00:51:17,960 Speaker 1: I think that's the biggest concern on the front line 999 00:51:18,080 --> 00:51:23,040 Speaker 1: here played a Ton Championship pedigree, very versatile UM. And 1000 00:51:23,120 --> 00:51:27,279 Speaker 1: so I'm thinking about Jeff Gladney. But I'm gonna go 1001 00:51:27,320 --> 00:51:30,440 Speaker 1: a little bit off because You've You've got so many 1002 00:51:30,480 --> 00:51:33,919 Speaker 1: cornerbacks gone here, and if I'm not mistaken, you don't 1003 00:51:33,920 --> 00:51:36,400 Speaker 1: have any safety's gone. Is that right? That is correct? 1004 00:51:36,400 --> 00:51:38,440 Speaker 1: There was a big time run. You had three you 1005 00:51:38,520 --> 00:51:42,239 Speaker 1: had four straight part of me cornerbacks taken from nineteen 1006 00:51:42,280 --> 00:51:45,720 Speaker 1: to twenty two A. J. Terrell, Christian Fulton, Trayvon Diggs, 1007 00:51:45,800 --> 00:51:50,600 Speaker 1: and Jalen Johnson went four straight picks. So I mean, look, 1008 00:51:50,800 --> 00:51:53,719 Speaker 1: there there's still a good cornerback here in Gladney who 1009 00:51:54,280 --> 00:51:56,920 Speaker 1: I like and I think could be the pick. But 1010 00:51:57,000 --> 00:52:00,920 Speaker 1: I'm gonna be unconventional and say getting getting presumably the 1011 00:52:00,960 --> 00:52:04,040 Speaker 1: best safety here, despite the fact that the Titans have 1012 00:52:04,120 --> 00:52:09,959 Speaker 1: two very good safeties and Kevin Byard and um Kenny 1013 00:52:10,000 --> 00:52:13,960 Speaker 1: macaro I'm gonna take Xavier McKinney from Bama and I'm 1014 00:52:13,960 --> 00:52:17,600 Speaker 1: gonna play him in the slot, UM in the nickel 1015 00:52:17,680 --> 00:52:21,359 Speaker 1: and the dime packages as very much a cover guy 1016 00:52:21,400 --> 00:52:24,920 Speaker 1: who's gonna wind up on tight ends on some some receivers, 1017 00:52:25,280 --> 00:52:28,239 Speaker 1: and he's going to be a super versatile guy for 1018 00:52:28,280 --> 00:52:31,320 Speaker 1: the Titans right out of the bank, right out of 1019 00:52:31,320 --> 00:52:34,600 Speaker 1: the gate. Excuse me. And Uh, I'm thinking that that's 1020 00:52:34,840 --> 00:52:40,400 Speaker 1: a kind of versatile new age NFL move, Um that 1021 00:52:40,480 --> 00:52:43,080 Speaker 1: could pay off. I think he's got the skills to 1022 00:52:43,160 --> 00:52:47,000 Speaker 1: do it. He's an instinctive, uh, full speed ahead kind 1023 00:52:47,000 --> 00:52:51,600 Speaker 1: of guy with with range. Uh he can diagnose stuff 1024 00:52:51,680 --> 00:52:54,520 Speaker 1: and help put himself in position to make plays. That 1025 00:52:54,520 --> 00:52:57,480 Speaker 1: that makes it seem like, uh, he was a corner 1026 00:52:57,520 --> 00:52:59,799 Speaker 1: all along. And then uh, you know he can do 1027 00:52:59,840 --> 00:53:03,040 Speaker 1: safety stuff too, Paul, they did trade drill. Casey has 1028 00:53:03,080 --> 00:53:04,680 Speaker 1: been a real good player for you guys for a 1029 00:53:04,719 --> 00:53:08,200 Speaker 1: long time, and he thought of the pass rusher here, Well, 1030 00:53:08,719 --> 00:53:12,160 Speaker 1: they need edge pass rushing help. They have for a 1031 00:53:12,200 --> 00:53:15,719 Speaker 1: long time. But Casey's a defensive tackle and his replacement 1032 00:53:15,760 --> 00:53:19,239 Speaker 1: actually came last year at number nineteen where they made 1033 00:53:19,280 --> 00:53:23,120 Speaker 1: the big, big pick with Jeffrey Simmons. He takes he 1034 00:53:23,239 --> 00:53:27,160 Speaker 1: takes Casey's place. Um, They're they're not great on the 1035 00:53:27,200 --> 00:53:29,720 Speaker 1: defensive line, but for as often as they're in Nickel. 1036 00:53:29,760 --> 00:53:33,960 Speaker 1: They're only playing two defensive linemen. That'll be Simmons and 1037 00:53:34,080 --> 00:53:38,799 Speaker 1: de Kwon Jones, the veteran run stopper on the edge. 1038 00:53:38,840 --> 00:53:41,360 Speaker 1: They've got a variety of guys now, Harold Landry and 1039 00:53:41,480 --> 00:53:45,399 Speaker 1: Vick Beasley the headliners there. Beasley on a one year 1040 00:53:45,480 --> 00:53:48,799 Speaker 1: prove it deal coming over from Atlanta. Uh, he's got 1041 00:53:48,800 --> 00:53:52,640 Speaker 1: some work ethic questions. Uh, Mike Vrabel doesn't stand for 1042 00:53:52,680 --> 00:53:56,000 Speaker 1: that started sort of stuff. We're going to see a transformation. 1043 00:53:56,120 --> 00:53:58,400 Speaker 1: I suspect the final question and he thought of a 1044 00:53:58,440 --> 00:54:00,840 Speaker 1: trade up or down here. If they were going to 1045 00:54:00,920 --> 00:54:02,759 Speaker 1: do one of the other, which one would you think 1046 00:54:02,760 --> 00:54:05,719 Speaker 1: would be more likely? Yeah, I think down would be 1047 00:54:05,760 --> 00:54:08,080 Speaker 1: more likely, particularly on a board like yours, if they 1048 00:54:08,080 --> 00:54:11,279 Speaker 1: could still wide up with with McKinney or glad me 1049 00:54:11,800 --> 00:54:16,040 Speaker 1: or bound maybe from Wisconsin. Um, Titans don't have a 1050 00:54:16,080 --> 00:54:18,560 Speaker 1: lot of holes on the starting lineup, but their their 1051 00:54:18,640 --> 00:54:22,560 Speaker 1: second tier is not very good. It's not been long since, uh, 1052 00:54:22,680 --> 00:54:25,640 Speaker 1: you know, two years ago. They made trades up to 1053 00:54:25,760 --> 00:54:28,960 Speaker 1: get Rashaun Evans in the first round, to get Harold 1054 00:54:29,040 --> 00:54:32,080 Speaker 1: Landry in the second round, to get Dame Crookshank back 1055 00:54:32,160 --> 00:54:36,600 Speaker 1: up safety later on, and then drafted Luke Frock Uh 1056 00:54:36,640 --> 00:54:40,040 Speaker 1: in the in the fifth or sixth um. They ended 1057 00:54:40,080 --> 00:54:42,239 Speaker 1: up with only four players out of that draft, only 1058 00:54:42,320 --> 00:54:45,279 Speaker 1: three who are on their roster. They trade up a lot, 1059 00:54:45,320 --> 00:54:47,840 Speaker 1: though they usually end up with the same amount of picks, 1060 00:54:48,160 --> 00:54:50,359 Speaker 1: but they haven't done well fleshing out the back end 1061 00:54:50,400 --> 00:54:53,279 Speaker 1: of their roster. At cornerback where I'm talking about. They 1062 00:54:53,320 --> 00:54:58,720 Speaker 1: really have two guys in Doory Jackson and Malcolm Butler, 1063 00:54:58,880 --> 00:55:02,040 Speaker 1: and after that not just people you haven't heard of 1064 00:55:02,080 --> 00:55:05,640 Speaker 1: who aren't good enough, but not even bodies. Uh. And 1065 00:55:05,680 --> 00:55:08,000 Speaker 1: so they really need to replenish the rest of the roster. 1066 00:55:08,280 --> 00:55:11,960 Speaker 1: And uh, they don't have a sift um. They don't 1067 00:55:12,000 --> 00:55:13,759 Speaker 1: have a fourth in this draft because of the Ryan 1068 00:55:13,800 --> 00:55:16,000 Speaker 1: Tannehilt trade. They don't have a sixth in this draft. 1069 00:55:16,000 --> 00:55:19,440 Speaker 1: They have three seventh They need more middle of the 1070 00:55:19,480 --> 00:55:21,560 Speaker 1: middle range picks to kind of fill out some of 1071 00:55:21,560 --> 00:55:24,360 Speaker 1: the debt. Paul, awesome stuff, my friend, great information. We 1072 00:55:24,400 --> 00:55:26,719 Speaker 1: appreciate you joining us. Stay safe down there. We'll talk 1073 00:55:26,760 --> 00:55:29,040 Speaker 1: to you down the road and enjoy the draft you too. 1074 00:55:29,080 --> 00:55:31,360 Speaker 1: Thanks for having me. All right, we move on to 1075 00:55:31,440 --> 00:55:35,720 Speaker 1: pick number thirty at twenty nine. Paul Kaharski select Xavier 1076 00:55:35,800 --> 00:55:38,840 Speaker 1: McKinney for the Tennessee Titans. So we head to the 1077 00:55:38,920 --> 00:55:41,319 Speaker 1: NFC North to the Green Bay Packers and to make 1078 00:55:41,320 --> 00:55:44,240 Speaker 1: the selection for them is Pete Doherty covers the Packers 1079 00:55:44,239 --> 00:55:48,320 Speaker 1: for the Green Bay Press Gazette and Packers News dot Com. Pete, 1080 00:55:48,320 --> 00:55:50,799 Speaker 1: thanks a lot for being with us the Packers again 1081 00:55:50,880 --> 00:55:54,680 Speaker 1: another deep playoff run with Aaron Rodgers. What do you 1082 00:55:54,719 --> 00:55:57,839 Speaker 1: think they're thinking about here and their major needs trying 1083 00:55:57,840 --> 00:55:59,520 Speaker 1: to find a player that can try to put them 1084 00:55:59,520 --> 00:56:04,160 Speaker 1: over the top. A lot of needs. Um. Probably the 1085 00:56:04,200 --> 00:56:08,480 Speaker 1: biggest is receiver, but um real close with the inside 1086 00:56:08,520 --> 00:56:14,359 Speaker 1: linebacker and tackle where they lost Brian Bulaga. Um, you know, 1087 00:56:14,560 --> 00:56:16,600 Speaker 1: they need a lot of things. They could they need 1088 00:56:16,640 --> 00:56:21,080 Speaker 1: a corner. Um, there's they need depth at a lot 1089 00:56:21,120 --> 00:56:24,399 Speaker 1: of positions. Uh, this is a big draft for him 1090 00:56:24,480 --> 00:56:26,080 Speaker 1: and there's a lot of ways they could go in 1091 00:56:26,080 --> 00:56:28,680 Speaker 1: the first round. They could take the best guy from 1092 00:56:28,719 --> 00:56:33,279 Speaker 1: among several positions and and really help themselves. So giving 1093 00:56:33,280 --> 00:56:36,280 Speaker 1: all their needs, Pete, do you think that a trade 1094 00:56:36,320 --> 00:56:39,279 Speaker 1: down here, if they can find somebody looking to trade up, 1095 00:56:39,520 --> 00:56:43,239 Speaker 1: could be a possibility. I do. Um. I mean it's 1096 00:56:43,239 --> 00:56:46,080 Speaker 1: every year, it is, but it makes me think of 1097 00:56:46,120 --> 00:56:48,280 Speaker 1: the year when they traded back from thirty to thirty 1098 00:56:48,320 --> 00:56:50,759 Speaker 1: six and draft at Jordy Nelson. I think that was 1099 00:56:50,800 --> 00:56:54,719 Speaker 1: in a wait um. And so they're picking thirty on 1100 00:56:54,840 --> 00:56:56,759 Speaker 1: in this one, and it does seem like, you know, 1101 00:56:56,800 --> 00:57:00,439 Speaker 1: with the depth a receiver, maybe when they're pickings, they'd 1102 00:57:00,440 --> 00:57:02,319 Speaker 1: feel like they could get a guy just as good, 1103 00:57:03,440 --> 00:57:05,600 Speaker 1: you know, five or six or eight picks later than 1104 00:57:05,640 --> 00:57:07,439 Speaker 1: where they are and they could use the extra pick 1105 00:57:07,520 --> 00:57:09,680 Speaker 1: and maybe use that to move up in the second 1106 00:57:09,760 --> 00:57:12,359 Speaker 1: or third rounds for a guy that got targeted. So yeah, 1107 00:57:12,400 --> 00:57:15,200 Speaker 1: I think that's well, it's always a possibility. I think 1108 00:57:15,200 --> 00:57:19,040 Speaker 1: it's an even greater possibility this year than in past years. Alright, 1109 00:57:19,080 --> 00:57:21,280 Speaker 1: so before you make the actual pick, who were the 1110 00:57:21,320 --> 00:57:23,800 Speaker 1: guys that you're really thinking about that you think could 1111 00:57:23,840 --> 00:57:27,919 Speaker 1: be a major made in a major consideration given how 1112 00:57:28,000 --> 00:57:32,080 Speaker 1: this mock has gone picks one through Yeah, well with 1113 00:57:32,320 --> 00:57:34,560 Speaker 1: Murray and Queen gone, because I think those guys would 1114 00:57:34,560 --> 00:57:38,160 Speaker 1: have been real possibilities. Um, you know, it's gonna be 1115 00:57:38,400 --> 00:57:41,959 Speaker 1: be interesting. Jordan loves them there. You know, I don't 1116 00:57:41,960 --> 00:57:44,280 Speaker 1: know what they think of him, but I know they've 1117 00:57:44,280 --> 00:57:48,080 Speaker 1: looked really hard at all the quarterbacks and you know, 1118 00:57:48,920 --> 00:57:50,600 Speaker 1: they really like him and think he can be a 1119 00:57:50,600 --> 00:57:53,360 Speaker 1: winning starter in this league. I don't know how you 1120 00:57:53,480 --> 00:57:57,919 Speaker 1: pass him up, but you know, you got Cleveland from 1121 00:57:58,320 --> 00:58:01,960 Speaker 1: Boise State to tackle. I think, uh, that would fill 1122 00:58:01,960 --> 00:58:04,920 Speaker 1: a big need. And he's a pretty highly rated guy. 1123 00:58:04,960 --> 00:58:07,600 Speaker 1: And there's a several receivers they might be picking from, 1124 00:58:07,600 --> 00:58:13,560 Speaker 1: with Ayuk and h mems and and Reagor among among others. Alright, 1125 00:58:13,600 --> 00:58:15,760 Speaker 1: so Pete, let's let's make the pick here. Who do 1126 00:58:15,800 --> 00:58:18,560 Speaker 1: you select for the Packers at pick number thirty in 1127 00:58:18,640 --> 00:58:22,520 Speaker 1: the two thousand and twenty Giants Huddlenock Draft. Yeah, I'm 1128 00:58:22,560 --> 00:58:24,400 Speaker 1: you know, part of me has really attempted to go 1129 00:58:24,480 --> 00:58:27,120 Speaker 1: with Love, but I just I still don't see him 1130 00:58:27,160 --> 00:58:30,120 Speaker 1: pulling the trigger around the quarterback quite yet. I think 1131 00:58:30,120 --> 00:58:33,040 Speaker 1: that's a year or two away. Um, so I'm going 1132 00:58:33,080 --> 00:58:36,920 Speaker 1: to go with Brandon Ayuk, the receiver from Arizona State. 1133 00:58:36,960 --> 00:58:40,040 Speaker 1: He's a really dynamic guy. They've got a huge receiving corps. 1134 00:58:40,040 --> 00:58:42,400 Speaker 1: As far as just physical size, this guy is a 1135 00:58:42,440 --> 00:58:47,960 Speaker 1: little smaller, but he's way more dynamic than anybody they've got. So, um, 1136 00:58:48,120 --> 00:58:50,120 Speaker 1: that's why I'm gonna go with. That's my best guests 1137 00:58:50,160 --> 00:58:54,160 Speaker 1: on what they would do if with this scenario that, uh, 1138 00:58:54,520 --> 00:58:57,240 Speaker 1: with the way the draft is falling for for your draft, 1139 00:58:57,400 --> 00:58:59,520 Speaker 1: who you think would be the next wide receiver up 1140 00:58:59,560 --> 00:59:01,240 Speaker 1: after I you from the guys that are left, as 1141 00:59:01,240 --> 00:59:02,640 Speaker 1: you mentioned, a lot of the guys left, A big guys, 1142 00:59:02,720 --> 00:59:05,360 Speaker 1: right like Tee Higgins and and and and Michael Pittman 1143 00:59:05,520 --> 00:59:08,400 Speaker 1: and guys like that. Yeah, And I don't think, you know, 1144 00:59:08,400 --> 00:59:11,040 Speaker 1: they've got so many big receivers. Their whole core is huge, 1145 00:59:11,120 --> 00:59:13,600 Speaker 1: So I I'm just not convinced that they would add 1146 00:59:13,640 --> 00:59:16,320 Speaker 1: another guy like that. They've already got five guys six 1147 00:59:16,360 --> 00:59:20,400 Speaker 1: core taller. Yeah, they do. They could put on a 1148 00:59:20,600 --> 00:59:23,640 Speaker 1: you know, a really good college basketball team with us. 1149 00:59:23,680 --> 00:59:26,200 Speaker 1: I mean, it's it's amazing that the good Acouster g 1150 00:59:26,360 --> 00:59:30,520 Speaker 1: I'm just obviously really loves big receivers. What's a big 1151 00:59:30,720 --> 00:59:35,920 Speaker 1: catch radius? Um, But I'm thinking, you know, uh, maybe Reager. 1152 00:59:36,200 --> 00:59:38,280 Speaker 1: You know, he's a really explosive player. I could see 1153 00:59:38,320 --> 00:59:40,960 Speaker 1: him being the kind of guy who they might be 1154 00:59:40,960 --> 00:59:43,440 Speaker 1: able to get up. They trade down five or six spots, 1155 00:59:43,480 --> 00:59:45,560 Speaker 1: they might still be able to get him in the 1156 00:59:45,680 --> 00:59:48,760 Speaker 1: in the low thirties. Pete. Awesome stuff, my friend. I 1157 00:59:48,800 --> 00:59:51,200 Speaker 1: really appreciate the time stay safe out there. Hope you 1158 00:59:51,240 --> 00:59:53,080 Speaker 1: and your family you're good and we'll talk to you 1159 00:59:53,160 --> 00:59:55,400 Speaker 1: down the road. Enjoy the draft next week. Alright, good 1160 00:59:55,480 --> 00:59:57,680 Speaker 1: luck the rest of the night. Thanks thank you to 1161 00:59:57,840 --> 01:00:00,520 Speaker 1: Pete Doherty from the Green Day Press Gazette and Packers 1162 01:00:00,520 --> 01:00:02,360 Speaker 1: News dot com. They see like Brandon and you get 1163 01:00:02,480 --> 01:00:04,360 Speaker 1: number thirty. Now we head to the west coast to 1164 01:00:04,440 --> 01:00:07,200 Speaker 1: San Francisco. We welcome back in one of our double 1165 01:00:07,240 --> 01:00:10,280 Speaker 1: dippers for this year's draft, Matt Barrows from the Athletic. 1166 01:00:10,560 --> 01:00:13,680 Speaker 1: The forty Niners had to pick at overall, they selected 1167 01:00:13,760 --> 01:00:16,760 Speaker 1: ceedee Lamb. Matt. Now that you've seen what's happened between 1168 01:00:16,800 --> 01:00:20,080 Speaker 1: thirteen and thirty, uh do are you happy with your 1169 01:00:20,120 --> 01:00:24,760 Speaker 1: first peck? And based on what's happened since then? I am, um. 1170 01:00:24,800 --> 01:00:28,160 Speaker 1: I think Ceo m is fantastic, probably the best wide 1171 01:00:28,160 --> 01:00:31,000 Speaker 1: receiver in the draft. There is still a receiver that 1172 01:00:31,080 --> 01:00:35,520 Speaker 1: I like a lot. Who's who's still remaining. That's Denzel 1173 01:00:35,640 --> 01:00:39,200 Speaker 1: Mims for Baylor. So if I hadn't taken the receiver 1174 01:00:39,320 --> 01:00:42,720 Speaker 1: at thirteen, I probably would have taken Mims at this spot, 1175 01:00:42,800 --> 01:00:45,520 Speaker 1: number thirty one. But um, you know this is a 1176 01:00:45,760 --> 01:00:47,320 Speaker 1: this is a good draft. I mean there are a 1177 01:00:47,360 --> 01:00:50,000 Speaker 1: lot of good wide receivers, a lot of good often 1178 01:00:50,080 --> 01:00:53,600 Speaker 1: to tackle, like good cornerbacks still left. So I think 1179 01:00:53,640 --> 01:00:56,320 Speaker 1: if this were the scenarios, the forty Niners would be happy, 1180 01:00:56,880 --> 01:00:58,920 Speaker 1: all right? So right now, what do you consider the 1181 01:00:59,000 --> 01:01:01,280 Speaker 1: major needs after you have taken lambing And who are 1182 01:01:01,280 --> 01:01:05,200 Speaker 1: the guys you're considering right here at pick one? Yeah, 1183 01:01:05,640 --> 01:01:08,520 Speaker 1: I think the major needs are cornerback, defensive tackle, and 1184 01:01:08,840 --> 01:01:14,480 Speaker 1: offensive tackle. And UH, I would consider uh Ross Blacklock 1185 01:01:14,720 --> 01:01:19,200 Speaker 1: from from TCU a defensive tackle. I would consider Jalen 1186 01:01:19,280 --> 01:01:24,000 Speaker 1: reagor uh if I if I still needed a wide receiver. Um. 1187 01:01:24,680 --> 01:01:27,360 Speaker 1: There's some cornerbacks too that I like, But I think 1188 01:01:27,360 --> 01:01:32,520 Speaker 1: there are enough cornerbacks and defensive tackles UM later in 1189 01:01:32,520 --> 01:01:34,520 Speaker 1: the draft that I would I would go for that 1190 01:01:34,560 --> 01:01:38,800 Speaker 1: big ticket item and I would draft Ezra Cleveland from 1191 01:01:38,880 --> 01:01:42,360 Speaker 1: Boys in State Here. UH Joe Staley that the team's 1192 01:01:42,400 --> 01:01:45,400 Speaker 1: left tackle. He's probably gonna come back this uh this 1193 01:01:45,640 --> 01:01:50,880 Speaker 1: next year, but he hasn't said that yet, so there's 1194 01:01:50,880 --> 01:01:52,800 Speaker 1: a little bit of mystery in the air with him. 1195 01:01:53,400 --> 01:01:56,920 Speaker 1: And even if he did, UM, he's not going to 1196 01:01:56,960 --> 01:02:00,000 Speaker 1: be playing for very much longer. He's the longest tenure 1197 01:02:00,200 --> 01:02:03,400 Speaker 1: forty nineer on the roster, and this guy at Cleveland 1198 01:02:03,560 --> 01:02:06,080 Speaker 1: is is very Joe Staley like, he's very light on 1199 01:02:06,160 --> 01:02:10,120 Speaker 1: his feed um, and uh, I think by getting him 1200 01:02:10,160 --> 01:02:14,280 Speaker 1: at thirty one, it's sort of a nice um balance 1201 01:02:14,440 --> 01:02:18,520 Speaker 1: that you get that future left tackle who may need 1202 01:02:18,960 --> 01:02:21,800 Speaker 1: a year or two to develop. Man. Even if Joe 1203 01:02:21,800 --> 01:02:24,280 Speaker 1: Staley comes back, You've got this guy in the first rounds. 1204 01:02:24,280 --> 01:02:28,160 Speaker 1: That means you've effectively got him for five years. Um, 1205 01:02:28,240 --> 01:02:30,280 Speaker 1: you can use that's his year option. So I just 1206 01:02:30,320 --> 01:02:32,600 Speaker 1: think it's a it's a smart move. It's a h 1207 01:02:33,000 --> 01:02:35,720 Speaker 1: like I said, a big ticket move, a move that 1208 01:02:35,760 --> 01:02:37,960 Speaker 1: looks to the future. And uh, I think that's what 1209 01:02:38,640 --> 01:02:40,919 Speaker 1: will do and they rapid fire. This is a prime 1210 01:02:40,960 --> 01:02:43,440 Speaker 1: trade down opportunity, right trying to pick up another pick 1211 01:02:43,440 --> 01:02:44,800 Speaker 1: in the next couple of rounds. I don't think the 1212 01:02:44,840 --> 01:02:46,919 Speaker 1: Niners picked the one round five after this or four, 1213 01:02:47,720 --> 01:02:50,880 Speaker 1: that's right, No, not not until round five. And so yeah, 1214 01:02:50,920 --> 01:02:53,600 Speaker 1: I mean they have looked very closely at a lot 1215 01:02:53,640 --> 01:02:56,640 Speaker 1: of guys who are going to be picked in the second, third, 1216 01:02:56,640 --> 01:02:59,720 Speaker 1: and fourth rounds, and so I think that they expect 1217 01:02:59,720 --> 01:03:02,480 Speaker 1: to raid one of those two. I's not both of 1218 01:03:02,560 --> 01:03:06,280 Speaker 1: those first round picks and do with the Seattle Seahawks 1219 01:03:06,280 --> 01:03:08,840 Speaker 1: did last year, which is just recoup a lot of 1220 01:03:08,840 --> 01:03:11,480 Speaker 1: those mid mid round types of picks. And I think 1221 01:03:11,520 --> 01:03:14,840 Speaker 1: that frankly besro Cleveland would be a mechanism to do that. 1222 01:03:14,880 --> 01:03:17,200 Speaker 1: I think there are some of these teams that didn't 1223 01:03:17,200 --> 01:03:20,360 Speaker 1: pick an offensive tackle early in the UH, you know, 1224 01:03:20,440 --> 01:03:23,360 Speaker 1: in the top ten UH would want to double zip 1225 01:03:23,440 --> 01:03:26,800 Speaker 1: and and hit that position again. So I think that 1226 01:03:26,840 --> 01:03:30,000 Speaker 1: would be a way for the fourteen Understry trade back 1227 01:03:30,120 --> 01:03:34,160 Speaker 1: maybe five or six spots and then get an additional 1228 01:03:34,640 --> 01:03:37,000 Speaker 1: second day pick. Yeah, and the Giants picked as s 1229 01:03:37,120 --> 01:03:38,919 Speaker 1: m is at four, they pick at thirty. Sex Boy, 1230 01:03:39,000 --> 01:03:40,640 Speaker 1: that seems like I could make a little bit of sense. 1231 01:03:40,640 --> 01:03:43,040 Speaker 1: We'll see what happens. Matt. We really appreciate the time, man, 1232 01:03:43,080 --> 01:03:46,640 Speaker 1: thanks so much. Be safe, alright, thank you. We think 1233 01:03:46,680 --> 01:03:49,120 Speaker 1: Matt Barrows covers the forty nine is for the athletic. 1234 01:03:49,200 --> 01:03:51,320 Speaker 1: You go from the NFC West up to the a 1235 01:03:51,440 --> 01:03:54,960 Speaker 1: f C West and the two thousand and nineteen Slash 1236 01:03:55,000 --> 01:03:59,560 Speaker 1: twenty Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs. Matt Derek a 1237 01:03:59,680 --> 01:04:02,840 Speaker 1: cover them for Chiefs Digest. Matt, thanks for being with 1238 01:04:02,920 --> 01:04:06,800 Speaker 1: us today. Obviously can't feel any better picking the number 1239 01:04:06,840 --> 01:04:08,720 Speaker 1: thirty two in the draft. The Chiefs coming off the 1240 01:04:08,760 --> 01:04:11,040 Speaker 1: Super Bowl win, what do you see as the major 1241 01:04:11,120 --> 01:04:13,840 Speaker 1: needs for a team that continues to try to solidify 1242 01:04:13,880 --> 01:04:16,680 Speaker 1: around Patrick Mahomes. Yeah, you're right. I mean, coming off 1243 01:04:16,680 --> 01:04:19,080 Speaker 1: a Super Bowl championship, you should have a team that 1244 01:04:19,120 --> 01:04:21,360 Speaker 1: doesn't have a whole lot of needs. And and that's 1245 01:04:21,360 --> 01:04:23,440 Speaker 1: where the Chiefs do find themselves. They were able to 1246 01:04:23,520 --> 01:04:25,640 Speaker 1: get a couple of off seasons signing, get some guys 1247 01:04:25,680 --> 01:04:28,400 Speaker 1: that came back from last year's squad. So don't don't 1248 01:04:28,440 --> 01:04:31,160 Speaker 1: go into this draft with the necessarily a need for 1249 01:04:31,200 --> 01:04:34,600 Speaker 1: an immediate starter in But there's a couple of position 1250 01:04:34,600 --> 01:04:37,040 Speaker 1: groups that they definitely seem to be looking at. UM. 1251 01:04:37,120 --> 01:04:40,000 Speaker 1: Authentic line is one. There's a that's a group that 1252 01:04:40,040 --> 01:04:42,200 Speaker 1: they think that there's a lot of depths at UM. 1253 01:04:42,360 --> 01:04:44,880 Speaker 1: Same thing with the cornerback position that do think there's 1254 01:04:44,920 --> 01:04:48,200 Speaker 1: some depth there. And linebacker. They're looking for some guys 1255 01:04:48,240 --> 01:04:50,160 Speaker 1: who can who can cover out of the back, can 1256 01:04:50,200 --> 01:04:53,680 Speaker 1: cover and help them out, especially with their nickel defense 1257 01:04:53,680 --> 01:04:55,240 Speaker 1: that they love to play. They'd like to have a 1258 01:04:55,240 --> 01:04:58,760 Speaker 1: coverage linebacker, somebody who can work in space. You think 1259 01:04:58,840 --> 01:05:01,360 Speaker 1: a trade up or each trade down would be more 1260 01:05:01,440 --> 01:05:05,400 Speaker 1: likely for the Chiefs of thirty two. Well, with five 1261 01:05:05,480 --> 01:05:07,960 Speaker 1: draft picks and insures draft, they would definitely like to 1262 01:05:08,000 --> 01:05:10,919 Speaker 1: have some more capital, and so I think of any 1263 01:05:10,920 --> 01:05:13,520 Speaker 1: scenario that's out they're moving down is the most likely. 1264 01:05:14,040 --> 01:05:16,480 Speaker 1: And Brett Beach is a general manager, doesn't like to 1265 01:05:16,480 --> 01:05:18,600 Speaker 1: stand pat and he said before in the past that 1266 01:05:18,680 --> 01:05:21,600 Speaker 1: when he goes through his mock scenarios with his personnel group, 1267 01:05:21,960 --> 01:05:24,640 Speaker 1: they always think he's gonna move up. But this seems 1268 01:05:24,680 --> 01:05:27,760 Speaker 1: like the best scenario for them to probably move backwards, 1269 01:05:27,880 --> 01:05:31,280 Speaker 1: especially if if someone falls to that number thirty two spot, 1270 01:05:31,400 --> 01:05:34,080 Speaker 1: where someone at the top of the second round might 1271 01:05:34,120 --> 01:05:36,160 Speaker 1: be wanting to make sure that they can jump up there. 1272 01:05:36,800 --> 01:05:38,919 Speaker 1: Get a guy, you know with a number thirty two 1273 01:05:39,000 --> 01:05:40,880 Speaker 1: with the you know, they can keep a fifth year option. 1274 01:05:40,960 --> 01:05:44,240 Speaker 1: There's a lot of value there. So uh, certainly, if 1275 01:05:44,280 --> 01:05:46,360 Speaker 1: someone drops late in the first round, and to think 1276 01:05:46,440 --> 01:05:48,240 Speaker 1: Chiefs think that there's a need to go up and 1277 01:05:48,240 --> 01:05:50,920 Speaker 1: maybe move five spots, they're not afraid to do that. 1278 01:05:51,160 --> 01:05:53,920 Speaker 1: But I think of all the scenarios out there, then 1279 01:05:53,960 --> 01:05:56,840 Speaker 1: picking at thirty two is probably pretty slim, and I 1280 01:05:56,880 --> 01:05:59,600 Speaker 1: think there's a really good chance they move backwards. So, Matt, 1281 01:05:59,640 --> 01:06:01,800 Speaker 1: based on what's happened in this draft, then you must 1282 01:06:01,800 --> 01:06:04,200 Speaker 1: not be too happy because you wanted you said, either 1283 01:06:04,240 --> 01:06:06,920 Speaker 1: an offensive tackle and you take a look in seven 1284 01:06:07,000 --> 01:06:09,720 Speaker 1: or off the board already at pick number thirty two, 1285 01:06:09,720 --> 01:06:12,960 Speaker 1: Ezra Cleveland the most recent one cornerback. There was a 1286 01:06:13,040 --> 01:06:14,880 Speaker 1: run on those players early on in the draft. Not 1287 01:06:14,920 --> 01:06:16,680 Speaker 1: a ton left there though there was one player that 1288 01:06:16,760 --> 01:06:18,520 Speaker 1: might stand out like a sore thumb at this point, 1289 01:06:18,760 --> 01:06:20,760 Speaker 1: and then the top three linebackers are all gone. So 1290 01:06:20,960 --> 01:06:23,440 Speaker 1: make your pick thirty second overall selection, final pick in 1291 01:06:23,440 --> 01:06:25,920 Speaker 1: the first round in the Giants Huddle mock draft, who 1292 01:06:25,920 --> 01:06:29,760 Speaker 1: do the Chiefs select. There's one great scenario, which is 1293 01:06:29,760 --> 01:06:31,920 Speaker 1: that Jordan's love is still there, and if the Chiefs 1294 01:06:31,920 --> 01:06:34,480 Speaker 1: can find a buyer for Jordan's love, I think they're 1295 01:06:34,480 --> 01:06:36,640 Speaker 1: going to trade out of this spot. But if they 1296 01:06:36,640 --> 01:06:38,800 Speaker 1: stick at thirty two, with the options that are out there, 1297 01:06:38,800 --> 01:06:40,840 Speaker 1: and you're right there, a lot of positions are picked over, 1298 01:06:41,560 --> 01:06:43,800 Speaker 1: I think they're gonna go with Lloyd Cushionberry from l 1299 01:06:43,880 --> 01:06:46,440 Speaker 1: s U. They need in terrier line help. That's the 1300 01:06:46,480 --> 01:06:49,160 Speaker 1: one weakness on the offensive line where they really needs 1301 01:06:49,160 --> 01:06:51,560 Speaker 1: some support inside um that's the kind of guy that 1302 01:06:51,600 --> 01:06:55,000 Speaker 1: could come in and start immediately. And that's one position 1303 01:06:55,120 --> 01:06:57,800 Speaker 1: group that inter your offensive line that they need to 1304 01:06:57,800 --> 01:07:00,400 Speaker 1: provide more help for Patrick Mahomes. You all that in 1305 01:07:00,400 --> 01:07:02,800 Speaker 1: the Super Bowl. So I think interior AUF empty line 1306 01:07:02,880 --> 01:07:05,480 Speaker 1: the big need and that would be a great gift. 1307 01:07:05,520 --> 01:07:08,880 Speaker 1: Forty two very interesting. I know some people have mocked 1308 01:07:08,880 --> 01:07:11,400 Speaker 1: a running back to the Chiefs at this pick. Is 1309 01:07:11,440 --> 01:07:13,840 Speaker 1: that a situation where if you trade down, you pick 1310 01:07:13,960 --> 01:07:15,560 Speaker 1: up a couple of extra picks in the middle rounds, 1311 01:07:15,560 --> 01:07:19,240 Speaker 1: that's where you might hunt that running back. Absolutely, you 1312 01:07:19,240 --> 01:07:21,320 Speaker 1: know there are some running backs there that are available, 1313 01:07:21,320 --> 01:07:23,360 Speaker 1: But I think that the Chiefs are in that camp that, 1314 01:07:23,520 --> 01:07:25,320 Speaker 1: you know, they believe that running back is the position 1315 01:07:25,360 --> 01:07:27,920 Speaker 1: that you can find guys deeper in the draft. And okay, 1316 01:07:28,000 --> 01:07:30,160 Speaker 1: some point, I mean every rhyme running back on the 1317 01:07:30,160 --> 01:07:32,600 Speaker 1: board is still out there. So I think they definitely 1318 01:07:32,600 --> 01:07:34,400 Speaker 1: feel if that's the need that they could move back. 1319 01:07:34,720 --> 01:07:36,720 Speaker 1: They do like the stable they have. They've got a 1320 01:07:36,720 --> 01:07:38,280 Speaker 1: lot of a lot of guys that got the numbers 1321 01:07:38,320 --> 01:07:41,320 Speaker 1: back there, led by Damian Williams, so they don't feel 1322 01:07:41,320 --> 01:07:44,080 Speaker 1: that that's a huge need. But there's as as the 1323 01:07:44,160 --> 01:07:46,600 Speaker 1: Crame Hunts selection a couple of years ago showed you 1324 01:07:46,640 --> 01:07:48,680 Speaker 1: can find great value in the second, third, and fourth 1325 01:07:48,760 --> 01:07:52,880 Speaker 1: rounds of that spot. Absolutely, Matt Derek from the Chief's Digests, 1326 01:07:52,920 --> 01:07:55,040 Speaker 1: we appreciate the time, my friends. Stay safe out there. 1327 01:07:55,080 --> 01:07:56,600 Speaker 1: We'll talk to you down the road and enjoy the 1328 01:07:56,680 --> 01:07:59,280 Speaker 1: draft on Thursday night. Thanks a lot, take care. We 1329 01:07:59,400 --> 01:08:01,680 Speaker 1: say thank you. Have met Derek from Chiefs Digests for 1330 01:08:01,800 --> 01:08:03,640 Speaker 1: making the pick for the Chiefs to close out our 1331 01:08:03,640 --> 01:08:05,800 Speaker 1: first round. Now we're gonna do a few picks here 1332 01:08:05,800 --> 01:08:07,640 Speaker 1: and round number two before we get to the Giants 1333 01:08:07,640 --> 01:08:10,240 Speaker 1: at thirty six. And the Bengals leadoff round number two 1334 01:08:10,320 --> 01:08:11,920 Speaker 1: the same way they let off the draft when they 1335 01:08:11,920 --> 01:08:14,280 Speaker 1: selected Joe Burrow. Rejoining us play by play man for 1336 01:08:14,280 --> 01:08:17,400 Speaker 1: the Cincinnati Bengals on the radio, that is Dan Horde. Dan, 1337 01:08:17,520 --> 01:08:19,640 Speaker 1: your thoughts on picks one through thirty two. I know 1338 01:08:19,720 --> 01:08:22,040 Speaker 1: it's real tough to kind of think about and predict 1339 01:08:22,120 --> 01:08:24,479 Speaker 1: what might happen in an entire round. That's what you 1340 01:08:24,560 --> 01:08:26,200 Speaker 1: kind of have to do when you think about round 1341 01:08:26,280 --> 01:08:28,400 Speaker 1: number two. Did it go about the way you thought 1342 01:08:28,439 --> 01:08:31,559 Speaker 1: it would or is any surprises um you think sitting 1343 01:08:31,600 --> 01:08:34,280 Speaker 1: for you here at number thirty three. Well, they are 1344 01:08:34,280 --> 01:08:37,160 Speaker 1: a handful of guys that I thought might be gone, 1345 01:08:37,520 --> 01:08:40,439 Speaker 1: might be gone. Excuse me, but the Patriots and the 1346 01:08:40,520 --> 01:08:43,519 Speaker 1: Saints broke my heart when they selected Kenneth Murray and 1347 01:08:43,520 --> 01:08:46,439 Speaker 1: Patrick Queen back to back at twenty three and twenty four. 1348 01:08:46,880 --> 01:08:49,839 Speaker 1: Those are the two guys that the Bengals are hoping 1349 01:08:50,280 --> 01:08:52,920 Speaker 1: slide somehow slide through the first round and make it 1350 01:08:52,920 --> 01:08:56,080 Speaker 1: to the top of a round two. So not necessarily 1351 01:08:56,240 --> 01:08:58,720 Speaker 1: thinking that's going to happen, but certainly hoped it might 1352 01:08:58,880 --> 01:09:01,720 Speaker 1: and it didn't. So that scrambles the plan a little 1353 01:09:01,760 --> 01:09:03,720 Speaker 1: bit for Cincinnati. So what are their needs? Are you 1354 01:09:03,800 --> 01:09:05,960 Speaker 1: looking at for the Bengals here? As now they try 1355 01:09:06,000 --> 01:09:10,760 Speaker 1: to build around Joe Burrow. Well, the biggest need is linebacker, 1356 01:09:10,800 --> 01:09:12,920 Speaker 1: which is why they wanted one of those two guys. 1357 01:09:12,960 --> 01:09:16,920 Speaker 1: If either slid and now the pickings at linebacker become 1358 01:09:16,960 --> 01:09:19,800 Speaker 1: a lot thinner, You've still got some decent players there, 1359 01:09:19,800 --> 01:09:23,600 Speaker 1: but they are guys that have a definite strength and 1360 01:09:23,640 --> 01:09:27,400 Speaker 1: a definite weakness, whereas Murray and Queen are more well rounded. 1361 01:09:27,760 --> 01:09:29,720 Speaker 1: So now the Bengals have to decide, all right, do 1362 01:09:29,800 --> 01:09:32,240 Speaker 1: you take a linebacker at a position of feed even 1363 01:09:32,320 --> 01:09:36,080 Speaker 1: though he might not be a great three down guy. 1364 01:09:36,200 --> 01:09:38,600 Speaker 1: Do you take a different player because maybe he's the 1365 01:09:38,640 --> 01:09:41,240 Speaker 1: highest player on your board, or do you see if 1366 01:09:41,240 --> 01:09:44,720 Speaker 1: there's a trade partner to move down. Honestly, if they're 1367 01:09:44,720 --> 01:09:47,599 Speaker 1: an opportunity to make a trade here where the Bengals 1368 01:09:47,600 --> 01:09:51,120 Speaker 1: would still get a second round pick and somebody else's third, 1369 01:09:51,160 --> 01:09:53,200 Speaker 1: I think they would hop on it because they only 1370 01:09:53,200 --> 01:09:55,679 Speaker 1: have one pick in every round, and they definitely would 1371 01:09:55,720 --> 01:09:58,280 Speaker 1: like to have more than seven picks in this draft. 1372 01:09:58,680 --> 01:10:01,280 Speaker 1: So if there's a trading partner that's willing to give 1373 01:10:01,360 --> 01:10:03,040 Speaker 1: up a third round pick to move up to the 1374 01:10:03,080 --> 01:10:05,960 Speaker 1: top of round two, U there are quarterbacks that are 1375 01:10:05,960 --> 01:10:08,519 Speaker 1: still on the board and intrigue people. Maybe there's a 1376 01:10:08,600 --> 01:10:11,800 Speaker 1: quarterback needy team that will do that. So that would 1377 01:10:11,840 --> 01:10:15,120 Speaker 1: be the number one objective for Cincinnati. But we'll see 1378 01:10:15,120 --> 01:10:17,400 Speaker 1: if there's a trade partner that's interested. Would a wide 1379 01:10:17,400 --> 01:10:20,360 Speaker 1: receiver be an option here? Only five have gone off 1380 01:10:20,400 --> 01:10:22,439 Speaker 1: the board in a pretty deep class A J Green 1381 01:10:22,479 --> 01:10:24,800 Speaker 1: obviously they franchised them. Who knows what that's going to 1382 01:10:24,880 --> 01:10:27,559 Speaker 1: be long term. Dan, you have Tyler Boyd there already, 1383 01:10:27,560 --> 01:10:29,880 Speaker 1: who's a very solid wide receiver, and he thought to 1384 01:10:29,920 --> 01:10:31,960 Speaker 1: go in just wide receiver hid because that could very 1385 01:10:31,960 --> 01:10:34,920 Speaker 1: well be the best player on the board. Very possible 1386 01:10:35,000 --> 01:10:37,439 Speaker 1: because of two guys that are still there that we're 1387 01:10:37,479 --> 01:10:40,559 Speaker 1: not taking in the first round, Denzel Mims out of 1388 01:10:40,560 --> 01:10:43,800 Speaker 1: Baylor and Laviscus n Alt out of Colorado, both their 1389 01:10:43,840 --> 01:10:46,840 Speaker 1: first round talents. I think both are guys that will 1390 01:10:46,880 --> 01:10:50,639 Speaker 1: have first round grades on the Bengals board. Mims probably 1391 01:10:50,720 --> 01:10:52,760 Speaker 1: is a little bit of a better fit. He's more 1392 01:10:52,800 --> 01:10:55,880 Speaker 1: of an outside guy, kind of a poor man's a 1393 01:10:56,040 --> 01:10:59,320 Speaker 1: J Green and terms of his body type, and certainly 1394 01:10:59,360 --> 01:11:03,760 Speaker 1: had a tremendous career at Baylor. But there are so 1395 01:11:04,000 --> 01:11:07,000 Speaker 1: many wide receivers in this draft you be able to 1396 01:11:07,040 --> 01:11:08,960 Speaker 1: get a good one in the third, in the fourth, 1397 01:11:09,320 --> 01:11:11,400 Speaker 1: I mean, you could take a couple of wide receivers 1398 01:11:11,400 --> 01:11:14,320 Speaker 1: still before this draft is finished, and I don't know 1399 01:11:14,560 --> 01:11:16,240 Speaker 1: if I want to take one at the top of 1400 01:11:16,240 --> 01:11:19,480 Speaker 1: the second round when there's just such a glut still available. 1401 01:11:19,479 --> 01:11:21,920 Speaker 1: All right, So then let's make the pick, assuming you 1402 01:11:21,920 --> 01:11:24,320 Speaker 1: cannot trade down, which unfortunately are the rules that we're 1403 01:11:24,360 --> 01:11:27,120 Speaker 1: dealing because, by the way, nearly every team in the 1404 01:11:27,200 --> 01:11:34,360 Speaker 1: last i'd say probably since pick almost twenty or twenty one, 1405 01:11:34,479 --> 01:11:37,200 Speaker 1: aside from the Patriots and the Saints have basically said 1406 01:11:37,200 --> 01:11:39,160 Speaker 1: they would like to trade down if they could, so 1407 01:11:39,240 --> 01:11:41,960 Speaker 1: you are not alone in wishing for a trade down. 1408 01:11:42,000 --> 01:11:44,360 Speaker 1: Who do The Bengals selected thirty third overall, the first 1409 01:11:44,400 --> 01:11:47,639 Speaker 1: pick and round number two in the Giants Huddle mock Draft. 1410 01:11:48,360 --> 01:11:54,160 Speaker 1: The Bengals will select Wisconsin linebackers slash edge player Zach 1411 01:11:54,280 --> 01:11:57,920 Speaker 1: Bond six two two d, thirty eight pounds, First team 1412 01:11:57,920 --> 01:12:00,839 Speaker 1: All American last year, twelve and a half Zack's nineteen 1413 01:12:00,880 --> 01:12:04,839 Speaker 1: and a half tackles for loss. They addressed the linebacker position, 1414 01:12:05,040 --> 01:12:08,919 Speaker 1: albeit with a guy that doesn't have the past coverage 1415 01:12:08,960 --> 01:12:11,920 Speaker 1: skills they would not ideally like to have at that position, 1416 01:12:12,479 --> 01:12:15,960 Speaker 1: but a tremendous pass rusher and hopefully athletic enough that 1417 01:12:16,080 --> 01:12:18,559 Speaker 1: he can improve as a pass defender. Well, you just 1418 01:12:18,600 --> 01:12:20,719 Speaker 1: broke the hearts of some Giant fans who are hoping 1419 01:12:20,760 --> 01:12:23,400 Speaker 1: he might be that exact type of linebacker for them 1420 01:12:23,400 --> 01:12:26,120 Speaker 1: at number thirty six. If they go offensive tackle in 1421 01:12:26,160 --> 01:12:28,439 Speaker 1: the first round in this draft, they didn't, so not 1422 01:12:28,479 --> 01:12:31,120 Speaker 1: necessarily a need. But if they go offensive tackle at four, 1423 01:12:31,160 --> 01:12:33,479 Speaker 1: that could be a player the Giants uh target at 1424 01:12:33,520 --> 01:12:35,920 Speaker 1: thirty six. Dan, we really appreciated my friend. Thanks so much. 1425 01:12:35,920 --> 01:12:37,800 Speaker 1: We'll talk to you down the road. It was fun. 1426 01:12:37,840 --> 01:12:40,120 Speaker 1: Thanks John. We thank Dan Horde, played by a play 1427 01:12:40,200 --> 01:12:42,360 Speaker 1: man for the Bengals. They select Zack Baond with the 1428 01:12:42,400 --> 01:12:44,679 Speaker 1: first pick in the second round of thirty third overall. 1429 01:12:44,800 --> 01:12:47,160 Speaker 1: Next up a team we're hearing from from the first 1430 01:12:47,200 --> 01:12:51,080 Speaker 1: time today, the Indianapolis Colts making their selection at pick 1431 01:12:51,240 --> 01:12:53,439 Speaker 1: number thirty four, which they acquired in a trade with 1432 01:12:53,479 --> 01:12:55,519 Speaker 1: the Redskins last year, and they move up for Montez 1433 01:12:55,560 --> 01:12:58,879 Speaker 1: Sweat is Stephen Holder who covers them for the Athletic 1434 01:12:58,920 --> 01:13:01,760 Speaker 1: Steven We appreciate a time here. Obviously the Colts are 1435 01:13:01,760 --> 01:13:04,679 Speaker 1: gonna be waiting a long time to make this first pick, 1436 01:13:05,240 --> 01:13:07,920 Speaker 1: or are they. Do you see a potential trade up here, 1437 01:13:07,960 --> 01:13:10,160 Speaker 1: maybe for the Colts to find somebody that plays a 1438 01:13:10,200 --> 01:13:15,400 Speaker 1: certain key position. Well, I think it's interesting that's always 1439 01:13:15,439 --> 01:13:18,080 Speaker 1: on the table. They have two second round picks, so 1440 01:13:18,120 --> 01:13:20,640 Speaker 1: they have the ammunition to do it and listen to 1441 01:13:20,640 --> 01:13:23,600 Speaker 1: the one position where you'd be interested in doing that 1442 01:13:23,640 --> 01:13:26,479 Speaker 1: at his quarterback. And I just think Jordan's love being 1443 01:13:26,479 --> 01:13:29,280 Speaker 1: on the board is really interesting to me. Look, you know, 1444 01:13:29,560 --> 01:13:32,280 Speaker 1: as the Colts still had their number thirteen pick, which 1445 01:13:32,320 --> 01:13:34,680 Speaker 1: they traded. I don't know that he would be the 1446 01:13:34,680 --> 01:13:38,519 Speaker 1: pick at thirteen, but at thirty four you gotta If 1447 01:13:38,560 --> 01:13:41,719 Speaker 1: he's sliding towards thirty four, you gotta start thinking about 1448 01:13:41,720 --> 01:13:45,120 Speaker 1: it at that point. I mean, the potential potential franchise 1449 01:13:45,240 --> 01:13:47,639 Speaker 1: quarterback when you've got a thirty eight year old starter 1450 01:13:47,760 --> 01:13:49,960 Speaker 1: in Philip Rivers, I mean, that just makes a lot 1451 01:13:49,960 --> 01:13:53,280 Speaker 1: of sense. Now. I think the cold Jordan love polarizing 1452 01:13:53,360 --> 01:13:55,920 Speaker 1: might actually be an understatement. There are some people that 1453 01:13:56,000 --> 01:13:58,919 Speaker 1: and then love him. Obviously, he has all the physical 1454 01:13:59,000 --> 01:14:01,400 Speaker 1: tools that you would want to a quarterback, but there's 1455 01:14:01,400 --> 01:14:03,519 Speaker 1: a lot of stuff not to like to depending on 1456 01:14:03,560 --> 01:14:05,639 Speaker 1: who you talk to. So do you have a feel 1457 01:14:05,680 --> 01:14:07,880 Speaker 1: for how much the Colt's value in because it's great 1458 01:14:07,880 --> 01:14:09,600 Speaker 1: to say this guy could be a starting quarterback, but 1459 01:14:09,600 --> 01:14:11,240 Speaker 1: you also don't want to use a second round pick 1460 01:14:11,840 --> 01:14:13,639 Speaker 1: on a quarterback that you have to dedicate a few 1461 01:14:13,720 --> 01:14:17,360 Speaker 1: years too, and then that could potentially set the franchise back. Yeah, 1462 01:14:17,680 --> 01:14:19,280 Speaker 1: that's the thing, You're you hit it on the head. 1463 01:14:19,479 --> 01:14:22,360 Speaker 1: He is sort of your classic boom er bust guy, 1464 01:14:22,800 --> 01:14:25,760 Speaker 1: I really think, because he does make some mistakes and 1465 01:14:26,000 --> 01:14:28,800 Speaker 1: he's going into a league where those mistakes they will 1466 01:14:28,800 --> 01:14:32,160 Speaker 1: make you pay for those on defense, and he's gonna 1467 01:14:32,240 --> 01:14:34,559 Speaker 1: have to play a cleaner brand of football to play 1468 01:14:34,600 --> 01:14:36,559 Speaker 1: in the NFL and succeed in the NFL. But he's 1469 01:14:36,560 --> 01:14:40,240 Speaker 1: got a skill set that very few guys have. So 1470 01:14:40,600 --> 01:14:43,200 Speaker 1: you know, the question there is who is he and 1471 01:14:43,240 --> 01:14:45,639 Speaker 1: what's he going to be? And that's just such such 1472 01:14:45,680 --> 01:14:48,599 Speaker 1: a really hard question. But I do think the upside 1473 01:14:48,680 --> 01:14:51,120 Speaker 1: is so high. I will say this, the Colts are 1474 01:14:51,120 --> 01:14:55,040 Speaker 1: really intrigued by him, and I think just the the 1475 01:14:55,080 --> 01:14:58,599 Speaker 1: skill set that he has. Uh, the strengths are so 1476 01:14:58,680 --> 01:15:02,280 Speaker 1: obvious that might be worth the chance or worth taking 1477 01:15:02,280 --> 01:15:04,639 Speaker 1: the chance for them. So he would be a really 1478 01:15:04,680 --> 01:15:07,400 Speaker 1: interesting prospect for the Colts. Uh, they have to address 1479 01:15:07,439 --> 01:15:10,320 Speaker 1: their quarterback situation in the very near future, all right, 1480 01:15:10,400 --> 01:15:12,160 Speaker 1: before we make the pick, officials, I think I know 1481 01:15:12,160 --> 01:15:15,280 Speaker 1: where you're leaning at this point. If Jordan Loves not 1482 01:15:15,400 --> 01:15:17,479 Speaker 1: on the board, or they failed to trade up to 1483 01:15:17,640 --> 01:15:20,240 Speaker 1: select him or another quarterback, what other positions do you 1484 01:15:20,280 --> 01:15:24,479 Speaker 1: think are a real big position of need for the Colts, Stephen, 1485 01:15:24,520 --> 01:15:27,040 Speaker 1: Because really they're an excellent team with Philip Rivers. I'm 1486 01:15:27,040 --> 01:15:28,840 Speaker 1: sure they're thinking we can try to make a run 1487 01:15:28,920 --> 01:15:31,840 Speaker 1: here with Tom Brady, out of the a f C. No, 1488 01:15:32,040 --> 01:15:34,280 Speaker 1: that's exactly right. I mean the trade they made with 1489 01:15:35,200 --> 01:15:38,639 Speaker 1: San Francisco for the Forest Buckner. Look, they really think that, 1490 01:15:39,080 --> 01:15:41,439 Speaker 1: uh they I'm not saying they think they're a super 1491 01:15:41,439 --> 01:15:43,760 Speaker 1: Bowl team, but they do think they aren't that far 1492 01:15:43,800 --> 01:15:47,160 Speaker 1: away from really being a team. That that makes some noise, 1493 01:15:47,240 --> 01:15:49,960 Speaker 1: So I agree with you. And then I would say 1494 01:15:50,160 --> 01:15:53,240 Speaker 1: one position where I think last year it really was 1495 01:15:53,280 --> 01:15:55,000 Speaker 1: an issue for the Colts late in the season because 1496 01:15:55,000 --> 01:15:57,439 Speaker 1: of injuries and just because of overall lack of performance. 1497 01:15:57,439 --> 01:16:00,200 Speaker 1: It was wide receiver, no question, and this is a 1498 01:16:00,240 --> 01:16:02,760 Speaker 1: great draft for them to have that need. They're gonna 1499 01:16:02,760 --> 01:16:04,360 Speaker 1: be able to address that need. So I think you 1500 01:16:04,400 --> 01:16:08,920 Speaker 1: know you're talking Denzil MEM's you're talking uh, certainly guys 1501 01:16:09,000 --> 01:16:14,479 Speaker 1: like uh uh, tons of guys in that that first round, 1502 01:16:14,560 --> 01:16:17,639 Speaker 1: late first round, in early second round, uh, sort of 1503 01:16:17,720 --> 01:16:19,880 Speaker 1: Regent T Higgins and guys like that. So I mean, 1504 01:16:19,880 --> 01:16:22,960 Speaker 1: they're gonna have tons of choices even into the third round. 1505 01:16:23,240 --> 01:16:25,720 Speaker 1: But uh, wide receiver would be one, and then the 1506 01:16:25,800 --> 01:16:29,120 Speaker 1: other is always going to be pass rusher just because 1507 01:16:29,160 --> 01:16:31,120 Speaker 1: that's always a need. But obviously that is not a 1508 01:16:31,240 --> 01:16:33,400 Speaker 1: deeper position in this draft. So that may be a 1509 01:16:33,400 --> 01:16:36,439 Speaker 1: tougher UH job to pull off a Steven make the 1510 01:16:36,479 --> 01:16:40,160 Speaker 1: selection the Colts overall second pick in round number two 1511 01:16:40,200 --> 01:16:43,200 Speaker 1: from the Washington Redskins and Giants on a mock draft, 1512 01:16:43,240 --> 01:16:46,080 Speaker 1: who do you believe the Colts would select in this position? 1513 01:16:47,160 --> 01:16:48,760 Speaker 1: So you know what I'm going for it. I'm gonna 1514 01:16:48,840 --> 01:16:52,519 Speaker 1: go with Jordan's Love. I just think the certainly are 1515 01:16:52,560 --> 01:16:55,880 Speaker 1: rolling the dice, but the payoffs, the potential payoff is 1516 01:16:55,880 --> 01:16:59,040 Speaker 1: so high that for the Colts it's worth it. And 1517 01:16:59,479 --> 01:17:01,280 Speaker 1: I just think it. He could be a guy who 1518 01:17:01,439 --> 01:17:03,679 Speaker 1: could be dynamic for a team for years to come. 1519 01:17:04,160 --> 01:17:06,360 Speaker 1: And if you're wrong, you're wrong. But if you get 1520 01:17:06,400 --> 01:17:08,639 Speaker 1: it right with this guy, the playoff is gonna be huge. 1521 01:17:08,640 --> 01:17:13,040 Speaker 1: So uh, Colts certainly the long term quarterback. Given Andrew 1522 01:17:13,120 --> 01:17:15,879 Speaker 1: lux decision, this would be a great choice with him. Steven, 1523 01:17:15,880 --> 01:17:19,160 Speaker 1: excellent stuff, my friend. Really appreciate the time. Stay safe 1524 01:17:19,160 --> 01:17:21,400 Speaker 1: and we'll talk to you down the road. Enjoy the draft. Hey, 1525 01:17:21,400 --> 01:17:23,280 Speaker 1: thanks for having me. All right, we're up to pick 1526 01:17:23,360 --> 01:17:26,320 Speaker 1: number thirty five. We thank Stephen Holder from the Athletic 1527 01:17:26,400 --> 01:17:29,879 Speaker 1: for selecting Jordan's Love to the Colts at thirty fourth overall, 1528 01:17:30,200 --> 01:17:34,120 Speaker 1: the third picking round number two belongs to Detroit Lions. 1529 01:17:34,360 --> 01:17:36,960 Speaker 1: We welcome back in Jeff Risden, who is the editor 1530 01:17:37,040 --> 01:17:39,720 Speaker 1: of the Lions Wire. And there's a lot of work 1531 01:17:39,720 --> 01:17:41,800 Speaker 1: on the draft too, So I'll ask you some draft 1532 01:17:41,840 --> 01:17:44,920 Speaker 1: question Jeff, after we get your pick, but let's start here. 1533 01:17:45,160 --> 01:17:47,040 Speaker 1: You've done a lot of work on this draft. What 1534 01:17:47,120 --> 01:17:50,160 Speaker 1: are the big surprises for you from picks one through 1535 01:17:50,200 --> 01:17:53,040 Speaker 1: thirty four. I think I was a little surprised at 1536 01:17:53,080 --> 01:17:56,360 Speaker 1: how quickly the offensive lineman all went, uh, and not 1537 01:17:56,479 --> 01:17:58,439 Speaker 1: necessarily just the first year, but the group after that. 1538 01:17:58,520 --> 01:18:01,760 Speaker 1: To the guys like Austin Jackson and Ezra Cleveland, I 1539 01:18:01,760 --> 01:18:03,960 Speaker 1: thought they might follow a little bit further than they did. Uh, 1540 01:18:04,000 --> 01:18:05,960 Speaker 1: And to see them off the board already at thirty 1541 01:18:06,000 --> 01:18:08,280 Speaker 1: five is a little bit surprising. Said something that won't 1542 01:18:08,280 --> 01:18:11,560 Speaker 1: happen in reality, But my goodness, it's uh, it was 1543 01:18:11,640 --> 01:18:14,320 Speaker 1: quite quite a storm on the on the offensive line there. Yeah, 1544 01:18:14,360 --> 01:18:18,400 Speaker 1: also both centers Caesar Loise and Lloyd Cushionburry done as well. 1545 01:18:19,040 --> 01:18:21,960 Speaker 1: A bunch of cornerbacks off the board, but not that 1546 01:18:22,040 --> 01:18:25,519 Speaker 1: many wide receivers only five. Yeah, and they just a 1547 01:18:25,520 --> 01:18:28,240 Speaker 1: little bit surprising. And uh, that's good for the Lions 1548 01:18:28,240 --> 01:18:30,960 Speaker 1: because they happen to new wide receivers, which probably kIPS 1549 01:18:31,000 --> 01:18:34,120 Speaker 1: forward going. Interesting, all right, but I thought you might 1550 01:18:34,160 --> 01:18:35,960 Speaker 1: go somewhere else. All right, let's talk about this first 1551 01:18:36,040 --> 01:18:38,839 Speaker 1: lines needs. What are you thinking right here after selecting 1552 01:18:38,880 --> 01:18:42,679 Speaker 1: Jeffrey Okuda at third? Overall, they either need a pass 1553 01:18:42,760 --> 01:18:45,000 Speaker 1: rusher or a wide receiver. Remember, they do not have 1554 01:18:45,080 --> 01:18:48,920 Speaker 1: a wide receiver under contract after next season, and Marvin 1555 01:18:49,000 --> 01:18:51,360 Speaker 1: Jones and Danny and Adola are both playing out there 1556 01:18:51,560 --> 01:18:53,519 Speaker 1: what will be their final years in Detroit. So they've 1557 01:18:53,560 --> 01:18:56,080 Speaker 1: got to get a long term answer in the great 1558 01:18:56,080 --> 01:18:59,519 Speaker 1: class to do that. In if Etur gross Models was there, 1559 01:18:59,600 --> 01:19:03,880 Speaker 1: he being consideration. Um, if you know so that that 1560 01:19:03,960 --> 01:19:06,240 Speaker 1: to pass rusher was still around, it would certainly be 1561 01:19:06,280 --> 01:19:10,000 Speaker 1: a consideration. But it looks like the better value here 1562 01:19:10,040 --> 01:19:12,720 Speaker 1: is the wide receiver. Interesting, how about Agia Panessa? How 1563 01:19:12,800 --> 01:19:16,800 Speaker 1: much do you consider him here, especially since he's kind 1564 01:19:16,800 --> 01:19:20,719 Speaker 1: of that power in that Matt Patricia from the Patriots 1565 01:19:20,800 --> 01:19:24,000 Speaker 1: lineage tends to like Yeah, and I like him a lot, 1566 01:19:24,080 --> 01:19:25,920 Speaker 1: And uh, if I were making the pick, I would 1567 01:19:25,920 --> 01:19:28,400 Speaker 1: make him the pick. But I'm gonna do what I 1568 01:19:28,439 --> 01:19:30,360 Speaker 1: think I'm trying to do what I think they will do. 1569 01:19:30,520 --> 01:19:31,880 Speaker 1: And I don't think that they want to do that. 1570 01:19:31,920 --> 01:19:34,280 Speaker 1: I think they'll they will find him redundant with Trey Flowers, 1571 01:19:34,320 --> 01:19:36,519 Speaker 1: who is the best player on their defense already, I 1572 01:19:36,560 --> 01:19:38,599 Speaker 1: think they will get a little bit more variety under 1573 01:19:38,600 --> 01:19:41,080 Speaker 1: their defense. Last I would hope that's what they're thinking. Anyways. 1574 01:19:41,080 --> 01:19:43,160 Speaker 1: All right, well let's let's talk about the wide receivers 1575 01:19:43,200 --> 01:19:45,360 Speaker 1: that are left. Who do you like? Who would you 1576 01:19:45,400 --> 01:19:48,120 Speaker 1: consider here and what type of wide receiver because there's 1577 01:19:48,120 --> 01:19:50,320 Speaker 1: a lot of different shapes and sizes in this class. 1578 01:19:50,479 --> 01:19:53,200 Speaker 1: Are you looking forward for the Lions? You know, I'm 1579 01:19:53,200 --> 01:19:57,120 Speaker 1: looking at the Darrell Double offense. Offensive coordinator. He typs 1580 01:19:57,160 --> 01:20:00,240 Speaker 1: prefer guys that can make contested catches, can work down 1581 01:20:00,280 --> 01:20:02,200 Speaker 1: the field and works their way back to the quarterback. 1582 01:20:02,720 --> 01:20:04,760 Speaker 1: They do to a slot receiver, somebody that can work 1583 01:20:04,800 --> 01:20:07,960 Speaker 1: the middle of the field. I think that's uh. Somebody 1584 01:20:08,000 --> 01:20:10,720 Speaker 1: that can do both of those would be high priority. 1585 01:20:10,800 --> 01:20:13,400 Speaker 1: But uh, there's a bit of a great guy like 1586 01:20:13,439 --> 01:20:17,280 Speaker 1: Justin Jefferson would be perfect here. But Alas he's gone. Yeah, 1587 01:20:17,400 --> 01:20:19,479 Speaker 1: he he made it far too, got the twenty five 1588 01:20:19,479 --> 01:20:21,320 Speaker 1: and not much further than that. And since then, Owen 1589 01:20:21,360 --> 01:20:23,840 Speaker 1: and Brandon, I you go off the board. All right, Jeff, 1590 01:20:23,880 --> 01:20:26,040 Speaker 1: so Um, I'll ask you why after you make the pick, 1591 01:20:26,400 --> 01:20:28,839 Speaker 1: who are you selecting for the lines at thirty five overall? 1592 01:20:28,840 --> 01:20:30,479 Speaker 1: And I think Johanant fans will be happy you're going 1593 01:20:30,560 --> 01:20:34,559 Speaker 1: wide receiver. Yeah, they probably are. Um and I could 1594 01:20:34,560 --> 01:20:36,240 Speaker 1: have been great too, But the way I compare him 1595 01:20:36,240 --> 01:20:38,559 Speaker 1: to Golden Tate and Lion stand still must Golden Tate, 1596 01:20:39,000 --> 01:20:40,880 Speaker 1: uh and sothers. Matthew Stafford, so that would have been 1597 01:20:40,880 --> 01:20:43,160 Speaker 1: a good one too. I'm gonna go with Denzel Mims. 1598 01:20:43,160 --> 01:20:47,920 Speaker 1: The legs here from Taylor here interesting. Any consideration to 1599 01:20:48,000 --> 01:20:51,840 Speaker 1: either Tee Higgins who was a great contested catch guy, 1600 01:20:51,920 --> 01:20:56,080 Speaker 1: Michael Pittman another contested catch guy, or your yards after 1601 01:20:56,080 --> 01:20:58,160 Speaker 1: catch guy who can play maybe some of that Golden 1602 01:20:58,160 --> 01:21:00,679 Speaker 1: Tate role in Olivisca chen Alta or you and raagor 1603 01:21:01,280 --> 01:21:04,280 Speaker 1: A lot of choices here for a wide receiver. Yeah, 1604 01:21:04,320 --> 01:21:06,800 Speaker 1: and and she is very appealing. The fact that he 1605 01:21:06,840 --> 01:21:08,840 Speaker 1: can do so many different things, he can play out 1606 01:21:08,840 --> 01:21:11,400 Speaker 1: of the backfield if heed him, I think that's what 1607 01:21:11,520 --> 01:21:14,439 Speaker 1: that's sort of diversity is hard to overlook. It's also 1608 01:21:14,520 --> 01:21:16,720 Speaker 1: tough to look past his injury history. This is the 1609 01:21:16,720 --> 01:21:19,920 Speaker 1: guy that's had a lot of little nagging injuries on 1610 01:21:19,960 --> 01:21:22,200 Speaker 1: a body that plays very physical like. But he plays 1611 01:21:22,200 --> 01:21:25,360 Speaker 1: similar to the way Inclin Bolden did. It's tough to 1612 01:21:25,439 --> 01:21:27,760 Speaker 1: keep your body in shape when when that's happening, and 1613 01:21:27,760 --> 01:21:29,559 Speaker 1: he's already had some signs of that in college. So 1614 01:21:29,920 --> 01:21:32,760 Speaker 1: I love the guy, but I can't take that risk here. 1615 01:21:32,800 --> 01:21:35,840 Speaker 1: I went with Men's um in part because they really 1616 01:21:35,840 --> 01:21:38,400 Speaker 1: click with him. At the Senior Bowl. Allions coach the 1617 01:21:38,400 --> 01:21:40,800 Speaker 1: North squad. At the Senior Bowl, he was there, he 1618 01:21:40,920 --> 01:21:43,439 Speaker 1: did very well. They seem to have good chemistry with him, 1619 01:21:43,479 --> 01:21:46,240 Speaker 1: and he showed the kind of attitude I think that 1620 01:21:46,280 --> 01:21:48,760 Speaker 1: they like to develop. He's the kind of guy that 1621 01:21:48,760 --> 01:21:51,519 Speaker 1: I think Mampatricia is going to really value. And he 1622 01:21:51,560 --> 01:21:55,479 Speaker 1: can win outside. Uh does have good speed, really good blocker. 1623 01:21:55,640 --> 01:21:57,599 Speaker 1: I think that that will also matter. That is something 1624 01:21:57,600 --> 01:22:00,000 Speaker 1: that the Lions stressed very heavily with their wide receivers. 1625 01:22:00,040 --> 01:22:04,000 Speaker 1: Flocking ability might not be the most savvy way to 1626 01:22:04,040 --> 01:22:07,479 Speaker 1: win games, but it is something that they value all right, Jeff, 1627 01:22:07,720 --> 01:22:10,320 Speaker 1: final question before we say goodbye. Now you're sitting here, 1628 01:22:10,439 --> 01:22:12,479 Speaker 1: if you if you're picking thirty six and and you're 1629 01:22:12,479 --> 01:22:15,120 Speaker 1: starting from a blank slate, no needs who do you 1630 01:22:15,160 --> 01:22:17,439 Speaker 1: think your best value players are that are left on 1631 01:22:17,479 --> 01:22:21,160 Speaker 1: the board for you? Right now? Fanessa is at the top. 1632 01:22:21,200 --> 01:22:23,519 Speaker 1: He He's a top fifteen player for me overall. I 1633 01:22:23,560 --> 01:22:26,400 Speaker 1: think it's gonna be very good. And I think he's 1634 01:22:26,439 --> 01:22:29,439 Speaker 1: got scheme versatility too. He could play outside at defensive 1635 01:22:29,439 --> 01:22:30,960 Speaker 1: and in the fourth three you can kick inside to 1636 01:22:30,960 --> 01:22:32,320 Speaker 1: a five at the three or four. He can even 1637 01:22:32,320 --> 01:22:34,559 Speaker 1: play down at a three technique if you needed to, 1638 01:22:34,600 --> 01:22:37,160 Speaker 1: and sort of a NASCAR package, so he would he 1639 01:22:37,160 --> 01:22:40,400 Speaker 1: would definitely be near the top of the list. Channel 1640 01:22:40,560 --> 01:22:44,000 Speaker 1: is up there. Um, that Reager is a good one. Um. 1641 01:22:44,040 --> 01:22:46,519 Speaker 1: I didn't actually look to see. Is Jeff Gladney still 1642 01:22:46,560 --> 01:22:50,320 Speaker 1: on the board. Jeff Gladney is the last and mobile, 1643 01:22:50,320 --> 01:22:52,120 Speaker 1: at least of my opinion, the last really kind of 1644 01:22:52,160 --> 01:22:55,559 Speaker 1: top corner still left. Yeah, he would certainly fit in 1645 01:22:55,640 --> 01:22:58,479 Speaker 1: this range too, because he's a very talented guy. He 1646 01:22:58,520 --> 01:23:01,519 Speaker 1: actually reminds me some of Darius Slay, who the Lions 1647 01:23:01,520 --> 01:23:04,240 Speaker 1: just got rid up to Philadelphia and a guy, by 1648 01:23:04,280 --> 01:23:06,519 Speaker 1: the way, if you're rubber back, a little history lesson here. 1649 01:23:06,760 --> 01:23:08,640 Speaker 1: Gariously was the second round pick. At the top of 1650 01:23:08,640 --> 01:23:10,439 Speaker 1: the second round. He was dreadful as a rookie. He 1651 01:23:10,479 --> 01:23:12,360 Speaker 1: got bench and he deserved that. He came back and 1652 01:23:12,400 --> 01:23:13,720 Speaker 1: it has been one of the best quarterbacks in the 1653 01:23:13,840 --> 01:23:16,519 Speaker 1: NFL ever since. I can definitely see that happening with Gladney. 1654 01:23:17,120 --> 01:23:20,559 Speaker 1: Interesting trade down possibility here off of the lines, Jeff, 1655 01:23:20,600 --> 01:23:23,880 Speaker 1: I should probably ask you that before we say goodbye. Yeah, 1656 01:23:24,000 --> 01:23:25,719 Speaker 1: I think they would certainly like to pick up another 1657 01:23:25,800 --> 01:23:28,120 Speaker 1: Day three, Day two pick if they could call back, 1658 01:23:28,160 --> 01:23:30,439 Speaker 1: you know, five to seven spots and get another guy 1659 01:23:30,920 --> 01:23:32,320 Speaker 1: in that same range, you know, some of the other 1660 01:23:32,320 --> 01:23:35,479 Speaker 1: wide receivers that we mentioned there, we'll still be available 1661 01:23:35,560 --> 01:23:37,400 Speaker 1: in five to seven spots. I think they'd love to 1662 01:23:37,400 --> 01:23:40,120 Speaker 1: do that. Awesome, Jeff, Great stuff, man. I appreciate you 1663 01:23:40,200 --> 01:23:42,479 Speaker 1: making two picks for us in this year's draft. A 1664 01:23:42,479 --> 01:23:44,280 Speaker 1: lot of work goes into this and it all comes 1665 01:23:44,280 --> 01:23:46,639 Speaker 1: with truition on Thursday. Try to enjoy it and we'll 1666 01:23:46,640 --> 01:23:48,960 Speaker 1: talk to you down the road, all right. I can't wait. 1667 01:23:49,000 --> 01:23:52,559 Speaker 1: Thank you. We thank Jeff Risden for selecting at pick 1668 01:23:52,640 --> 01:23:55,759 Speaker 1: number thirty five for the Detroit Lions. He selects Denzel 1669 01:23:55,840 --> 01:23:58,160 Speaker 1: Mims wide receiver out of bail Or, the six wide 1670 01:23:58,200 --> 01:24:00,880 Speaker 1: receiver off the board. And now we got the Paul 1671 01:24:00,960 --> 01:24:04,360 Speaker 1: Schwartz were welcoming back pick number thirty six, the Giants 1672 01:24:04,360 --> 01:24:07,160 Speaker 1: second round selection. Kind of the reason we did this 1673 01:24:07,200 --> 01:24:09,519 Speaker 1: whole exercise, Paul, to kind of see who would be 1674 01:24:09,600 --> 01:24:12,400 Speaker 1: left on the board when the Giants got the thirty 1675 01:24:12,439 --> 01:24:18,040 Speaker 1: six Seeing who's gotten selected in those last thirty two picks, 1676 01:24:18,600 --> 01:24:22,559 Speaker 1: what jumps out of you anything really surprised you at all? Yeah? 1677 01:24:22,600 --> 01:24:24,320 Speaker 1: What jumps out of me is I think the draft 1678 01:24:24,360 --> 01:24:26,719 Speaker 1: is basically over for the Giants, and you know, there's 1679 01:24:26,720 --> 01:24:28,800 Speaker 1: too many good players gone. You know, doesn't this happened 1680 01:24:28,800 --> 01:24:31,479 Speaker 1: every year? John, I always find this. The first round 1681 01:24:31,560 --> 01:24:33,360 Speaker 1: is fine, but then you get to the second round 1682 01:24:33,600 --> 01:24:36,120 Speaker 1: and you start hyper ventilating. With all these guys you 1683 01:24:36,240 --> 01:24:38,679 Speaker 1: kind of feel like, you know a little bit about 1684 01:24:38,720 --> 01:24:41,360 Speaker 1: get taken. And I always think sometimes, oh my gosh, 1685 01:24:41,360 --> 01:24:43,479 Speaker 1: there's nobody left, and then I think we'll wait a second. 1686 01:24:43,520 --> 01:24:46,559 Speaker 1: There's a lot more rounds to go. So it's um, 1687 01:24:46,640 --> 01:24:48,840 Speaker 1: you know, I would be very hard pressed to be 1688 01:24:48,920 --> 01:24:51,559 Speaker 1: one of these guys calling the shots with the Giants 1689 01:24:51,600 --> 01:24:53,280 Speaker 1: or another team because too many of these guys go 1690 01:24:53,320 --> 01:24:55,720 Speaker 1: off the board and I just get too heartbroken with 1691 01:24:55,800 --> 01:24:58,800 Speaker 1: these things. Um, as far as you know, I mean 1692 01:24:58,840 --> 01:25:01,639 Speaker 1: I mean, what have you have so far? Seven offensive 1693 01:25:01,680 --> 01:25:04,920 Speaker 1: linemen taken, seven, seven offensive tackles taken. Yeah, you have 1694 01:25:04,960 --> 01:25:08,960 Speaker 1: the top four, including Andrew Thomas. Then the Dolphins doubled 1695 01:25:09,040 --> 01:25:13,200 Speaker 1: up at offensive tackle. They selected Austin Jackson and Josh 1696 01:25:13,280 --> 01:25:16,240 Speaker 1: Jones to protect Tua, which makes sense. You know, injury 1697 01:25:16,240 --> 01:25:18,400 Speaker 1: prone quarterback, you want to protect him. And then you 1698 01:25:18,439 --> 01:25:20,920 Speaker 1: had the final offensive lineman as you're Cleveland go to 1699 01:25:20,920 --> 01:25:24,800 Speaker 1: the forty niners at thirty one. So, uh, there's your 1700 01:25:24,840 --> 01:25:27,439 Speaker 1: seven right there. And both top centers are gone to 1701 01:25:28,080 --> 01:25:30,360 Speaker 1: caeesar Reeves of the Ravens at twenty eight and Lloyd 1702 01:25:30,400 --> 01:25:35,320 Speaker 1: Cushionberry to the Chiefs at thirty two. Yeah, it's it's um, 1703 01:25:35,479 --> 01:25:37,120 Speaker 1: you know, I mean, look, we don't know if it 1704 01:25:37,160 --> 01:25:39,280 Speaker 1: will go that way. Everyone says that there will be 1705 01:25:39,320 --> 01:25:41,599 Speaker 1: a lot of offensive lineman taken. You know, usually there's 1706 01:25:41,600 --> 01:25:44,880 Speaker 1: a run on offensive tackles at some point, but um, 1707 01:25:44,920 --> 01:25:47,400 Speaker 1: you know this is you know, will will you know 1708 01:25:47,439 --> 01:25:51,639 Speaker 1: I picked Isaiah Simmons in the first round at number four. Um, 1709 01:25:51,680 --> 01:25:53,800 Speaker 1: and to show you where my head is right now, 1710 01:25:53,840 --> 01:25:58,840 Speaker 1: I think I'm already regretting that pick. Well, it's funny 1711 01:25:58,920 --> 01:26:02,080 Speaker 1: like this. We we were corded that first pick before 1712 01:26:02,200 --> 01:26:05,880 Speaker 1: Dave Gentleman spoke to the media on Monday, and then 1713 01:26:05,920 --> 01:26:08,920 Speaker 1: he indicated in that conversation that, yeah, you know, and 1714 01:26:08,960 --> 01:26:11,640 Speaker 1: I think the quote was the depth of the offensive 1715 01:26:11,640 --> 01:26:14,559 Speaker 1: tackle position in this class made him maybe not make 1716 01:26:14,600 --> 01:26:17,800 Speaker 1: it much of a priority in free agency. Right And now, 1717 01:26:17,840 --> 01:26:19,240 Speaker 1: what does he mean by depth? Does he mean the 1718 01:26:19,280 --> 01:26:20,840 Speaker 1: really good guys at the top? Does he mean a 1719 01:26:20,960 --> 01:26:23,160 Speaker 1: later round guys that he might like. And now we're 1720 01:26:23,200 --> 01:26:26,160 Speaker 1: gonna hear from Dave on Friday. We're recording this before that, 1721 01:26:26,560 --> 01:26:29,120 Speaker 1: So depending on what he says, then we might have 1722 01:26:29,160 --> 01:26:31,439 Speaker 1: a different idea if we might want to pick right now. 1723 01:26:31,479 --> 01:26:33,519 Speaker 1: I'm sure Dave is not going into this thinking, man, 1724 01:26:33,560 --> 01:26:35,960 Speaker 1: I gave those guys some real carriacs to chase here 1725 01:26:36,000 --> 01:26:38,040 Speaker 1: because he does not want to do that. I mean, 1726 01:26:38,080 --> 01:26:40,560 Speaker 1: my take from that was, you know, he said, you 1727 01:26:40,840 --> 01:26:43,519 Speaker 1: try to address as many needs and free agency as 1728 01:26:43,560 --> 01:26:46,360 Speaker 1: you can. Right now, they clearly did not address the 1729 01:26:46,439 --> 01:26:49,479 Speaker 1: need for a center. And my mind, a right tackle, 1730 01:26:49,680 --> 01:26:53,240 Speaker 1: I mean, Cam Fleming is a is a swing tackle. Um, 1731 01:26:53,280 --> 01:26:56,040 Speaker 1: if he has to start, he has to start. But uh, 1732 01:26:56,320 --> 01:26:58,960 Speaker 1: considering the contract they gave him, you know, he's they 1733 01:26:59,000 --> 01:27:01,479 Speaker 1: are not looking at him is any kind of right 1734 01:27:01,520 --> 01:27:07,599 Speaker 1: tackle starting option unless something happens. So given that he 1735 01:27:07,640 --> 01:27:11,679 Speaker 1: knows that the draft is very strong for offensive tackles, 1736 01:27:11,720 --> 01:27:13,960 Speaker 1: he knows he's got the fourth pick. You know, the 1737 01:27:14,080 --> 01:27:17,800 Speaker 1: Giants know they can get any offensive tackle they want 1738 01:27:17,840 --> 01:27:19,720 Speaker 1: if they just sit it for and take on right. 1739 01:27:19,760 --> 01:27:21,559 Speaker 1: I mean, I don't think anyone thinks one of those 1740 01:27:21,560 --> 01:27:24,080 Speaker 1: guys are gonna go in the top three. So if 1741 01:27:24,080 --> 01:27:26,120 Speaker 1: they're in love with someone, they said, we can sit there, 1742 01:27:26,200 --> 01:27:29,679 Speaker 1: we can contemplate the trade down um, or we can 1743 01:27:29,720 --> 01:27:32,880 Speaker 1: just take the guy we love and we'll say we 1744 01:27:32,920 --> 01:27:34,760 Speaker 1: think we should be said it either right or left 1745 01:27:34,760 --> 01:27:37,240 Speaker 1: tackle for the next ten years, and we're not gonna 1746 01:27:37,280 --> 01:27:39,679 Speaker 1: sweat it. You know, it's a position of need. Um. 1747 01:27:39,760 --> 01:27:42,200 Speaker 1: Everyone thinks that offensive tackles, if you want him, you 1748 01:27:42,200 --> 01:27:45,040 Speaker 1: gotta jump on him early. Right. I think in the league, 1749 01:27:45,600 --> 01:27:49,320 Speaker 1: by and large, most teams have an offensive tackle starting 1750 01:27:49,360 --> 01:27:51,000 Speaker 1: that was a first round draft pick. I mean, that's 1751 01:27:51,000 --> 01:27:53,480 Speaker 1: just the way it is, you know, not about linebackers, 1752 01:27:53,800 --> 01:27:56,760 Speaker 1: probably not about safeties, but tackles. If you want one, 1753 01:27:56,800 --> 01:27:59,040 Speaker 1: you gotta get one earlier. And I think, and I 1754 01:27:59,080 --> 01:28:02,000 Speaker 1: think this drest illustrates that I didn't mean drug. I'm 1755 01:28:02,000 --> 01:28:05,240 Speaker 1: just in with you because you get the thirty six year, 1756 01:28:05,280 --> 01:28:07,920 Speaker 1: your top seven guys are gone. Maybe you like Isai Wilson, 1757 01:28:07,960 --> 01:28:10,120 Speaker 1: I don't know, but no one left on the board 1758 01:28:10,120 --> 01:28:12,719 Speaker 1: as a plug and play guy and right tackle here. 1759 01:28:12,800 --> 01:28:14,679 Speaker 1: So all of a sudden, yeah, you've got a great 1760 01:28:14,680 --> 01:28:18,240 Speaker 1: player and Simmons, but boy, you're still looking at maybe 1761 01:28:18,240 --> 01:28:20,120 Speaker 1: a hole is the wrong word, but you have a 1762 01:28:20,200 --> 01:28:22,439 Speaker 1: litterally this way, you have no one under contract that 1763 01:28:22,600 --> 01:28:27,960 Speaker 1: right tackle beyond. And let's remember we also spoke with 1764 01:28:28,080 --> 01:28:31,240 Speaker 1: Joe Judgson's our first conference call. It's the first time 1765 01:28:31,240 --> 01:28:33,439 Speaker 1: we spoke making the pick right and you know, I 1766 01:28:33,479 --> 01:28:36,800 Speaker 1: thought it was very interesting what Joe Judge said about Look, 1767 01:28:36,920 --> 01:28:40,960 Speaker 1: you don't go into a draft thinking we got to 1768 01:28:41,000 --> 01:28:43,439 Speaker 1: get the NFL ready guy to plug in and play. 1769 01:28:43,479 --> 01:28:45,479 Speaker 1: You know, the plug and play thing is. You know 1770 01:28:45,479 --> 01:28:48,280 Speaker 1: what what he said is you always look long term 1771 01:28:48,320 --> 01:28:51,719 Speaker 1: with these picks. Who can help you best long term? 1772 01:28:52,000 --> 01:28:56,280 Speaker 1: He said, if you're looking for NFL ready, nobody's NFL ready. 1773 01:28:56,360 --> 01:28:58,280 Speaker 1: You know they all come in. They need the weight room, 1774 01:28:58,320 --> 01:29:00,839 Speaker 1: they need the strength of conditioning, they need the technique, 1775 01:29:00,840 --> 01:29:02,519 Speaker 1: they need to learn, what the heck the NFL is 1776 01:29:02,560 --> 01:29:04,840 Speaker 1: all about. So that was interesting to me and that, 1777 01:29:06,560 --> 01:29:09,760 Speaker 1: you know, it just it makes me think that, look, 1778 01:29:09,840 --> 01:29:12,120 Speaker 1: they're not looking at these guys. They're gonna say because 1779 01:29:12,160 --> 01:29:14,479 Speaker 1: look the Patriots, Joe Judge, Cape and Patriots, and I 1780 01:29:14,479 --> 01:29:17,200 Speaker 1: think the Patriots took great pride and had a lot 1781 01:29:17,240 --> 01:29:21,479 Speaker 1: of confidence that we can turn these prospects into players. 1782 01:29:21,520 --> 01:29:23,920 Speaker 1: So don't don't don't tell me this guy is a 1783 01:29:23,920 --> 01:29:27,280 Speaker 1: finished product from this big school. No, no, no, We're 1784 01:29:27,280 --> 01:29:30,080 Speaker 1: gonna make him a finished product in the time because 1785 01:29:30,120 --> 01:29:32,719 Speaker 1: we're really smart and we can develop these guys. And 1786 01:29:32,720 --> 01:29:34,800 Speaker 1: I think that's what Joe Judge wants to bring to 1787 01:29:34,840 --> 01:29:37,559 Speaker 1: the Giants. So you know, I'm not so hot and 1788 01:29:37,600 --> 01:29:42,080 Speaker 1: bothered over well, you know, Jedrick Wills is the most 1789 01:29:42,680 --> 01:29:45,120 Speaker 1: plug and play ready, right, A lot of people say that, 1790 01:29:45,280 --> 01:29:49,360 Speaker 1: or even Andrew Thomas, right, the most plug and play ready. 1791 01:29:49,560 --> 01:29:51,599 Speaker 1: The Giants aren't gonna care about that. They may have 1792 01:29:51,640 --> 01:29:54,200 Speaker 1: the guys start, but they're looking long term. You can't 1793 01:29:54,240 --> 01:29:56,719 Speaker 1: look short term with these high picks. Yeah, I agree 1794 01:29:56,720 --> 01:29:59,080 Speaker 1: with you. All right, So before we review even more 1795 01:29:59,080 --> 01:30:01,559 Speaker 1: about what's going on, are given where we are. You 1796 01:30:01,600 --> 01:30:04,439 Speaker 1: pick Simmons in the first round based on who's left, 1797 01:30:04,479 --> 01:30:07,800 Speaker 1: and again maybe where what are you thinking here based 1798 01:30:07,800 --> 01:30:09,560 Speaker 1: on the guys that are left, Paul, in terms of 1799 01:30:09,600 --> 01:30:12,400 Speaker 1: where you would go with thirty six. Well, here's the thing, 1800 01:30:12,479 --> 01:30:14,280 Speaker 1: Like I said, this is why I have what's Tom 1801 01:30:14,320 --> 01:30:18,599 Speaker 1: Coffin's great line, remorse for opportunity loss. Right, I already 1802 01:30:18,640 --> 01:30:22,920 Speaker 1: feel remorse for not taking the opportunity to take Jedrick 1803 01:30:22,960 --> 01:30:25,960 Speaker 1: Wills with the fourth pick. Okay, even though I think 1804 01:30:26,000 --> 01:30:28,160 Speaker 1: that would be better in the trade down. But still, okay, 1805 01:30:28,200 --> 01:30:30,160 Speaker 1: we we we can't talk for you know, two days 1806 01:30:30,160 --> 01:30:33,080 Speaker 1: about this. So I took Isaiah Simmons. So now I 1807 01:30:33,160 --> 01:30:36,599 Speaker 1: have to be true to my picks. I have an 1808 01:30:36,640 --> 01:30:40,439 Speaker 1: addressed offensive line. Yet you know what, I don't know 1809 01:30:40,479 --> 01:30:43,840 Speaker 1: if I can take an offensive lineman here at thirty six. Uh, 1810 01:30:43,880 --> 01:30:50,000 Speaker 1: you know, I don't know. Um is Isaiah Wilson from Georgia, 1811 01:30:50,040 --> 01:30:53,280 Speaker 1: the three fifty pound guys he worked the thirties six 1812 01:30:53,360 --> 01:30:56,519 Speaker 1: pick in the draft. I have a hard time believing that. Okay, 1813 01:30:56,600 --> 01:30:59,880 Speaker 1: so I'm gonna pass on that right now. Can I 1814 01:31:00,040 --> 01:31:02,960 Speaker 1: take a center? You know, I do really firmly believe 1815 01:31:03,000 --> 01:31:04,960 Speaker 1: the Giants can take a center high in the draft 1816 01:31:05,000 --> 01:31:08,559 Speaker 1: on the second day. Um, you have two gone, right, 1817 01:31:08,640 --> 01:31:11,080 Speaker 1: so we have I have Cushion Barry off the board 1818 01:31:11,120 --> 01:31:13,160 Speaker 1: and Louise off the board. So a lot of people, 1819 01:31:13,200 --> 01:31:15,640 Speaker 1: depending on who you talked to, would have Hennessy the 1820 01:31:15,680 --> 01:31:19,680 Speaker 1: next guy, right, Yeah, Tyler Beads from Wisconsin is you 1821 01:31:19,680 --> 01:31:21,880 Speaker 1: know he won the Rimington Award. You know he's he 1822 01:31:21,960 --> 01:31:24,439 Speaker 1: was the best center quote unquote in the country last 1823 01:31:24,479 --> 01:31:27,839 Speaker 1: year from Wisconsin. He's got some you know, physical issues 1824 01:31:27,880 --> 01:31:29,880 Speaker 1: that you know in this climate with not to getting 1825 01:31:29,880 --> 01:31:32,040 Speaker 1: the guy in your own building are hard. He's coming 1826 01:31:32,040 --> 01:31:34,720 Speaker 1: off shoulder surgery. So I don't know if I can 1827 01:31:34,760 --> 01:31:37,280 Speaker 1: take Matt Hennessy there. So you know what I'm gonna do. 1828 01:31:37,400 --> 01:31:41,080 Speaker 1: I'm gonna make everybody crazy, okay, and I'm gonna not 1829 01:31:41,160 --> 01:31:43,280 Speaker 1: take an offensive lineman again because I have to be 1830 01:31:43,320 --> 01:31:46,320 Speaker 1: true to the board. Right, I'm gonna take the safety 1831 01:31:46,360 --> 01:31:50,080 Speaker 1: from l s U. Grant Delpit, Oh, Grant Delpit. Now, 1832 01:31:50,360 --> 01:31:52,160 Speaker 1: and we we kind of talked off about this for 1833 01:31:52,200 --> 01:31:53,760 Speaker 1: a second, and I just want to kind of get 1834 01:31:53,800 --> 01:31:57,000 Speaker 1: into more detail with the on it. You know, giants 1835 01:31:57,000 --> 01:31:59,360 Speaker 1: and the pass rusher we all know that, and there's 1836 01:31:59,439 --> 01:32:02,200 Speaker 1: not a great draft for pass rushers and YouTube gross 1837 01:32:02,200 --> 01:32:04,240 Speaker 1: models is off the board. He could have been a consideration, 1838 01:32:04,760 --> 01:32:06,760 Speaker 1: but a Jpiness is still there. Guy has had a 1839 01:32:06,760 --> 01:32:09,000 Speaker 1: lot of sack production. He kind of fits that power 1840 01:32:09,240 --> 01:32:13,120 Speaker 1: end um profile that the Patriots have liked in years past. 1841 01:32:13,240 --> 01:32:15,920 Speaker 1: And you know, uh, Matt Patricia has used those guys 1842 01:32:15,920 --> 01:32:18,880 Speaker 1: in Detroit with Trey Flowers. What were your thoughts about 1843 01:32:18,880 --> 01:32:22,240 Speaker 1: maybe going pass Rusher with Epiness at this pick? Well, 1844 01:32:22,280 --> 01:32:24,600 Speaker 1: I actually watched to mult in college. My son is 1845 01:32:24,640 --> 01:32:27,320 Speaker 1: a junior at Wisconsin, so I watched all those games. 1846 01:32:27,360 --> 01:32:29,960 Speaker 1: You know, Wisconsin Iowa is always a really good game, 1847 01:32:30,040 --> 01:32:33,479 Speaker 1: really tough game. So I watched that a lot. And Um, 1848 01:32:33,520 --> 01:32:35,840 Speaker 1: I like him, you know, I don't love him. I 1849 01:32:35,880 --> 01:32:38,160 Speaker 1: think he's kind of you know, he did not test 1850 01:32:38,200 --> 01:32:40,439 Speaker 1: out well as a combine at all. Right, Um, he 1851 01:32:40,560 --> 01:32:43,559 Speaker 1: was not great at the combined. He's a better player 1852 01:32:43,600 --> 01:32:46,240 Speaker 1: than he is a tester. Okay, that's fine. Um, you 1853 01:32:46,280 --> 01:32:48,880 Speaker 1: need players, right, and you don't need testers. You know, 1854 01:32:48,880 --> 01:32:51,240 Speaker 1: we've seen plenty of guys who are great testers and 1855 01:32:51,240 --> 01:32:53,479 Speaker 1: and they're not great players. So he was not great 1856 01:32:53,680 --> 01:32:57,880 Speaker 1: at the combined with the height, speed, weight, measurable stuff. Um, 1857 01:32:57,920 --> 01:32:59,360 Speaker 1: you know, he's kind of got to me. I think 1858 01:32:59,360 --> 01:33:02,160 Speaker 1: he's a big guy. I think he gets the most 1859 01:33:02,160 --> 01:33:05,080 Speaker 1: out of what he has. But um, I just I 1860 01:33:05,080 --> 01:33:08,799 Speaker 1: don't see him as having a big upside in the NFL. 1861 01:33:08,920 --> 01:33:10,840 Speaker 1: I think he'll be good, I don't know if he'll 1862 01:33:10,840 --> 01:33:13,040 Speaker 1: be more than good. And so I'm thinking back to 1863 01:33:13,160 --> 01:33:17,880 Speaker 1: what Joe Judge said, Epanessa can probably come in and play, 1864 01:33:18,120 --> 01:33:20,800 Speaker 1: give you some snaps right away. He's very experienced from 1865 01:33:20,800 --> 01:33:23,680 Speaker 1: a good program, But that's not what they're looking for. 1866 01:33:23,760 --> 01:33:26,800 Speaker 1: They're looking for somebody now and for the future. What's 1867 01:33:26,840 --> 01:33:29,680 Speaker 1: his upside? You know, I think he's kind of he 1868 01:33:29,720 --> 01:33:32,200 Speaker 1: hasn't peaked, but I think he's closer to peeking than 1869 01:33:32,280 --> 01:33:35,040 Speaker 1: some of these other guys. Um. That's why I don't 1870 01:33:35,160 --> 01:33:36,680 Speaker 1: love him there. And I think that would be a 1871 01:33:36,720 --> 01:33:40,280 Speaker 1: little bit of a force for a pass rusher. Um 1872 01:33:40,439 --> 01:33:43,000 Speaker 1: and and and just like the offensive line to thirty 1873 01:33:43,040 --> 01:33:45,000 Speaker 1: six is a little bit of a force and a reach. 1874 01:33:45,600 --> 01:33:47,639 Speaker 1: Um And it kills me not to have an offensive 1875 01:33:47,640 --> 01:33:49,640 Speaker 1: lineman in the first two picks. That's why if I 1876 01:33:49,640 --> 01:33:52,240 Speaker 1: could go back, I would take the offensive lineman, and 1877 01:33:52,280 --> 01:33:56,439 Speaker 1: then at number thirty six, I can take Delpit And 1878 01:33:56,479 --> 01:33:58,680 Speaker 1: I say, Okay, now I've helped my offense and my 1879 01:33:58,760 --> 01:34:01,400 Speaker 1: defense and it's a little better combination there. Now you 1880 01:34:01,400 --> 01:34:03,840 Speaker 1: would slot delp It in at free safety is your 1881 01:34:03,840 --> 01:34:06,040 Speaker 1: single high guy, would you then maybe use Julian love 1882 01:34:06,120 --> 01:34:08,320 Speaker 1: in in the slot a little bit moving back to cornerback. 1883 01:34:08,320 --> 01:34:10,320 Speaker 1: How would you kind of work that mix? I would 1884 01:34:10,400 --> 01:34:12,040 Speaker 1: let the best man win, you know what I mean. 1885 01:34:12,120 --> 01:34:15,320 Speaker 1: I think Delpit is a single high guy. He's big, 1886 01:34:15,400 --> 01:34:18,040 Speaker 1: he packs a punch. He was better in two thousand 1887 01:34:18,120 --> 01:34:20,559 Speaker 1: eighteen than he wasn't two thousand nineteen. But he had 1888 01:34:20,600 --> 01:34:23,479 Speaker 1: an high ankle sprain in two thousand nineteen. He was 1889 01:34:23,680 --> 01:34:26,639 Speaker 1: terrific in two thousand eighteen. I mean he was terrific. 1890 01:34:26,680 --> 01:34:28,680 Speaker 1: And John, don't we see this? You know, you know 1891 01:34:28,840 --> 01:34:30,879 Speaker 1: ten years ago I would not be picking a safety 1892 01:34:30,880 --> 01:34:33,160 Speaker 1: at number thirty six, right. People just didn't do it 1893 01:34:33,280 --> 01:34:35,080 Speaker 1: very often. I mean, you know Kenny did it with 1894 01:34:35,160 --> 01:34:37,439 Speaker 1: Kenny Phillips, the Giants, you know you did. You had 1895 01:34:37,479 --> 01:34:39,400 Speaker 1: to be special, but it was kind of like you 1896 01:34:39,439 --> 01:34:42,040 Speaker 1: can get a safety. But now in this day and age, 1897 01:34:42,080 --> 01:34:46,120 Speaker 1: with with so many sub packages, you need athletic you know, 1898 01:34:46,200 --> 01:34:50,000 Speaker 1: two hundred and fifteen pound, two pound guys who can 1899 01:34:50,080 --> 01:34:52,920 Speaker 1: run and hit and cover on the field. Um, Delpit 1900 01:34:53,080 --> 01:34:54,840 Speaker 1: is a is a good he's good on the line 1901 01:34:54,880 --> 01:34:57,400 Speaker 1: of scrimmage, He's good deep. I think he fits very 1902 01:34:57,439 --> 01:35:00,080 Speaker 1: well with Jabrill Peppers. Okay, that's what I think. He 1903 01:35:00,160 --> 01:35:03,439 Speaker 1: fits well with your bro Peppers. And now if Julian 1904 01:35:03,560 --> 01:35:06,920 Speaker 1: Love you know, in year number two develops. Fine. You know, 1905 01:35:07,000 --> 01:35:10,479 Speaker 1: we saw the Giants years ago have great success with 1906 01:35:10,520 --> 01:35:13,559 Speaker 1: three safeties on the field. Okay, so that's fine, you 1907 01:35:13,560 --> 01:35:15,960 Speaker 1: know what I mean. And also I also have Isaiah 1908 01:35:15,960 --> 01:35:18,680 Speaker 1: Simmons on this team, So tell me something. Have you 1909 01:35:18,720 --> 01:35:21,599 Speaker 1: helped your defense? Now? Have you helped your past defense? 1910 01:35:21,640 --> 01:35:24,720 Speaker 1: Now with Isaiah Simmons and Grant Delpit? Right, I mean, 1911 01:35:25,080 --> 01:35:28,679 Speaker 1: you haven't fixed your offensive line, but you can argue 1912 01:35:28,680 --> 01:35:33,160 Speaker 1: that offensive line and and a really lousy defense the 1913 01:35:33,200 --> 01:35:35,360 Speaker 1: main reasons why this team hasn't been good the last 1914 01:35:35,400 --> 01:35:38,320 Speaker 1: few years. You've you know, now you have Blake Martinez. 1915 01:35:38,640 --> 01:35:43,480 Speaker 1: Now you have Kyle Kyler facral. Now you have uh, 1916 01:35:43,520 --> 01:35:48,519 Speaker 1: the cornerback Bradberry. Now you have Isaiah Simmons, and now 1917 01:35:48,560 --> 01:35:51,200 Speaker 1: you have Grant Delpit. Now you've got the makings of 1918 01:35:51,320 --> 01:35:54,440 Speaker 1: Now you put Patrick Graham in a room the defensive coordinator. 1919 01:35:54,920 --> 01:35:57,799 Speaker 1: Now he can have some funds. So we didn't address 1920 01:35:57,840 --> 01:36:00,120 Speaker 1: offensive line, but made the defense a whole heck up 1921 01:36:00,120 --> 01:36:01,800 Speaker 1: a lot better. Yeah, talk about the middle of that 1922 01:36:01,840 --> 01:36:04,280 Speaker 1: defense getting short up with a single high and delpot 1923 01:36:04,280 --> 01:36:06,160 Speaker 1: and a guy that can do a little everything in Simmons. 1924 01:36:06,240 --> 01:36:08,920 Speaker 1: That is that, you know, if they still give up 1925 01:36:08,920 --> 01:36:10,599 Speaker 1: a lot of passes the tight ends, then you need 1926 01:36:10,640 --> 01:36:13,200 Speaker 1: to launch some kind of investigation because those guys should 1927 01:36:13,240 --> 01:36:16,120 Speaker 1: do a real nice job against the posing tight ends. 1928 01:36:16,160 --> 01:36:19,040 Speaker 1: So besides offensive lines, I know, that's the obvious answer. 1929 01:36:19,080 --> 01:36:21,120 Speaker 1: We've talked about that kind of that nausea here, Paul, 1930 01:36:21,680 --> 01:36:23,800 Speaker 1: what now has you moved to to round three? There's 1931 01:36:23,960 --> 01:36:26,120 Speaker 1: thirty six picks, and by the way, would you look 1932 01:36:26,120 --> 01:36:28,240 Speaker 1: to trade down here based on who was left? Would 1933 01:36:28,240 --> 01:36:29,720 Speaker 1: that be a deal where you're like, look, let me 1934 01:36:29,760 --> 01:36:31,640 Speaker 1: move down maybe ten or fifteen spots, try to pick 1935 01:36:31,720 --> 01:36:34,120 Speaker 1: up an extra three since there is such a large 1936 01:36:34,160 --> 01:36:37,679 Speaker 1: gap between thirty six and well, I think, yeah, I agree, 1937 01:36:37,720 --> 01:36:41,439 Speaker 1: thirty six is a killer. It is an absolute killer. 1938 01:36:41,520 --> 01:36:43,479 Speaker 1: You know, the meat of this draft is going on 1939 01:36:43,600 --> 01:36:46,720 Speaker 1: there and you're sitting it out, so um, you know, 1940 01:36:46,760 --> 01:36:49,519 Speaker 1: if you could get a pick there, I mean, and 1941 01:36:49,560 --> 01:36:52,040 Speaker 1: I know giant fans when that Leonard Williams, what is 1942 01:36:52,080 --> 01:36:54,920 Speaker 1: that sixty six. What is the Leonard Williams picked they 1943 01:36:54,920 --> 01:36:56,880 Speaker 1: gave up. That would be let me see thirty six 1944 01:36:56,880 --> 01:36:58,680 Speaker 1: and the thirty two after that, that would probably be 1945 01:36:58,800 --> 01:37:01,759 Speaker 1: sixty eight sixty. I mean, that's gonna be a killer. 1946 01:37:01,800 --> 01:37:04,040 Speaker 1: I mean, that's gonna be. There's gonna be sewing on 1947 01:37:04,080 --> 01:37:06,480 Speaker 1: the board there. You know, the Giants fans are salivating 1948 01:37:06,520 --> 01:37:09,240 Speaker 1: about and um, you know he's gonna go and they're 1949 01:37:09,240 --> 01:37:11,400 Speaker 1: gonna say, darn it, you know we should have that pick, 1950 01:37:11,520 --> 01:37:14,280 Speaker 1: so um. Yeah, And anything the Giants can do to 1951 01:37:14,320 --> 01:37:18,440 Speaker 1: get a pick in that range would be very, very substantial, 1952 01:37:18,479 --> 01:37:21,760 Speaker 1: because I think there is when you can get I 1953 01:37:21,760 --> 01:37:24,720 Speaker 1: mean maybe Isaiah Wilson drops maybe, or you can get 1954 01:37:24,720 --> 01:37:26,960 Speaker 1: a center. You can get one of the two centers maybe, 1955 01:37:27,120 --> 01:37:29,880 Speaker 1: you know, maybe Hennessey and Beattish go before that. Look 1956 01:37:31,080 --> 01:37:34,280 Speaker 1: from thirty six to there's gonna be a ton of 1957 01:37:34,360 --> 01:37:39,160 Speaker 1: players who the Giants have rated bottom first second that 1958 01:37:39,240 --> 01:37:41,599 Speaker 1: are gonna go. And it's just gonna be a rough, 1959 01:37:41,720 --> 01:37:44,479 Speaker 1: rough stretch there. That's gonna be with these guys all 1960 01:37:44,520 --> 01:37:47,560 Speaker 1: sitting at home, you know, Joe Judge and North Attleboro 1961 01:37:47,680 --> 01:37:51,400 Speaker 1: and Dave Gettleman in New Jersey and Kevin Abrahams in Manhattan. 1962 01:37:51,680 --> 01:37:54,639 Speaker 1: I mean, oh, sitting alone with no one to kind 1963 01:37:54,640 --> 01:37:56,880 Speaker 1: of comfort them when those picks come off the board 1964 01:37:56,880 --> 01:38:00,680 Speaker 1: from thirty six, they're gonna feel very lonely. Yeah, I 1965 01:38:00,760 --> 01:38:02,800 Speaker 1: think Joe George I didn't want that dog next to him, 1966 01:38:02,800 --> 01:38:05,080 Speaker 1: a little stress relief with you know, Petner and all 1967 01:38:05,080 --> 01:38:08,000 Speaker 1: that stuff. He's gonna need Abbey's emotional support there waiting 1968 01:38:08,000 --> 01:38:11,160 Speaker 1: out that pick between thirty six and that's that's gonna 1969 01:38:11,160 --> 01:38:13,120 Speaker 1: be tough. Yes, I mean the the one picture I 1970 01:38:13,160 --> 01:38:15,200 Speaker 1: saw of Judge kind of sitting back on the couch 1971 01:38:15,640 --> 01:38:19,720 Speaker 1: and Abby the six year old Golden Retriever kind of 1972 01:38:20,040 --> 01:38:22,880 Speaker 1: looking a little bit sad and depressed on sitting on 1973 01:38:22,960 --> 01:38:25,960 Speaker 1: his thigh, And I said, boy, I don't want this 1974 01:38:26,040 --> 01:38:28,840 Speaker 1: image on on Thursday of the draft, because you gotta 1975 01:38:28,920 --> 01:38:30,960 Speaker 1: kind of be upbeat. There they looked both a little 1976 01:38:31,640 --> 01:38:34,160 Speaker 1: a weary of of of all the of all the 1977 01:38:34,240 --> 01:38:37,439 Speaker 1: draft preparations. So yeah, I mean, look, they want to 1978 01:38:37,439 --> 01:38:39,559 Speaker 1: get a center. Maybe with that third round pick they 1979 01:38:39,560 --> 01:38:42,760 Speaker 1: can get a center, but um, look you can draft 1980 01:38:42,800 --> 01:38:44,880 Speaker 1: centers in the third rounds who can come play for you. Right, 1981 01:38:44,920 --> 01:38:47,160 Speaker 1: Look at the Giants have had they won Super Bowls 1982 01:38:47,160 --> 01:38:52,400 Speaker 1: with guys, uh, you know who were undrafted or low drafted. Um, so, um, 1983 01:38:52,840 --> 01:38:55,000 Speaker 1: you can do it. So you can find one maybe, 1984 01:38:55,000 --> 01:38:56,720 Speaker 1: be honest, you would be kind of a diamond in 1985 01:38:56,760 --> 01:38:59,200 Speaker 1: the rough. Maybe he drops there because people are concerned 1986 01:38:59,240 --> 01:39:02,400 Speaker 1: about his his health, but he you know, he's been 1987 01:39:02,439 --> 01:39:05,280 Speaker 1: a good player for for three or four years and 1988 01:39:05,360 --> 01:39:07,519 Speaker 1: the Big ten for a big time running team. And 1989 01:39:07,600 --> 01:39:10,759 Speaker 1: you know Jonathan Teller didn't get all those six thousand 1990 01:39:10,760 --> 01:39:13,160 Speaker 1: plus yards on his own, so maybe he can help 1991 01:39:13,200 --> 01:39:15,400 Speaker 1: take Kawon Barkley get some yards for the Giants. Well. 1992 01:39:15,479 --> 01:39:19,000 Speaker 1: The final question, Paul, before we say goodbye, what's your 1993 01:39:19,040 --> 01:39:22,160 Speaker 1: thought on wide receiver here? And this is specific to 1994 01:39:22,160 --> 01:39:24,439 Speaker 1: the draft. Maybe I'll get one more general one, but 1995 01:39:25,160 --> 01:39:27,679 Speaker 1: would you try to target one in the round three 1996 01:39:27,920 --> 01:39:31,639 Speaker 1: top around four given how deep the classes and odds 1997 01:39:31,720 --> 01:39:34,400 Speaker 1: are when you get to that pick in then they 1998 01:39:34,479 --> 01:39:36,320 Speaker 1: pick a little bit later on top of the fourth round, 1999 01:39:36,560 --> 01:39:38,080 Speaker 1: there's a good chance the best player on the board 2000 01:39:38,120 --> 01:39:40,400 Speaker 1: is gonna be a wide receiver just because the classes 2001 01:39:40,520 --> 01:39:43,559 Speaker 1: that deep. Despite the lack of a need. You know, 2002 01:39:43,680 --> 01:39:46,120 Speaker 1: we talked about Golden Tate a little bit older, Sterling Shepard. 2003 01:39:46,160 --> 01:39:48,920 Speaker 1: The injury history would you think about targeting a wide 2004 01:39:48,920 --> 01:39:51,559 Speaker 1: out in that spot if value met where you would 2005 01:39:51,560 --> 01:39:53,680 Speaker 1: like it to be there, Well, I don't think it's 2006 01:39:53,720 --> 01:39:55,519 Speaker 1: that much of a lack. I don't think it's that 2007 01:39:55,600 --> 01:39:57,240 Speaker 1: much of a lack of a need, you know. I mean, 2008 01:39:57,280 --> 01:39:59,120 Speaker 1: I look, is it the number one need? No, But 2009 01:39:59,320 --> 01:40:01,800 Speaker 1: as you said, look, we all love Sterling Shepherd, but 2010 01:40:01,840 --> 01:40:05,439 Speaker 1: his concussion issues are a concern. I mean, there's no 2011 01:40:05,560 --> 01:40:08,320 Speaker 1: question about it. The Giants have to go into anything 2012 01:40:08,320 --> 01:40:11,360 Speaker 1: they do now looking at Sterling Shepherd and saying we 2013 01:40:11,439 --> 01:40:14,320 Speaker 1: hope to God that he holds up. But you know, concussions. 2014 01:40:14,360 --> 01:40:18,720 Speaker 1: You can't really prevent concussions, right, You can't legislate against concussions. 2015 01:40:18,760 --> 01:40:20,479 Speaker 1: You don't get them in practice most of the time. 2016 01:40:20,479 --> 01:40:22,080 Speaker 1: But when you're on the field, either you're out there 2017 01:40:22,160 --> 01:40:24,320 Speaker 1: or you're not. So that's an issue. Golden Tate is 2018 01:40:24,360 --> 01:40:27,280 Speaker 1: going into its eleventh season. That is not a time 2019 01:40:27,280 --> 01:40:30,880 Speaker 1: when receivers that are normal that aren't Larry Fitzgerald basically, 2020 01:40:30,880 --> 01:40:33,800 Speaker 1: you don't get better. Uh, And Darius Slayton was a 2021 01:40:33,840 --> 01:40:36,679 Speaker 1: real revelation as a rookie. So you know, it's it's 2022 01:40:36,720 --> 01:40:38,599 Speaker 1: a need. It's not the number one need, but it's 2023 01:40:38,600 --> 01:40:40,840 Speaker 1: a need. So I don't know if you target one there. 2024 01:40:41,080 --> 01:40:43,400 Speaker 1: But as you said, this is a very deep draft. 2025 01:40:43,640 --> 01:40:47,200 Speaker 1: So if they go in at at and there is 2026 01:40:47,240 --> 01:40:49,840 Speaker 1: a guy on their board who is a second round 2027 01:40:49,840 --> 01:40:53,080 Speaker 1: pick as a receiver and he's a bigger target, maybe, 2028 01:40:53,120 --> 01:40:54,840 Speaker 1: you know, I think they need a bigger guy. You know, 2029 01:40:54,880 --> 01:40:58,760 Speaker 1: they need someone with some meat on somebody who's six one, two, 2030 01:40:58,920 --> 01:41:01,120 Speaker 1: six three. If there's someone there and they said, we 2031 01:41:01,160 --> 01:41:03,280 Speaker 1: like this guy, this guy could be a number two 2032 01:41:03,320 --> 01:41:06,320 Speaker 1: receiver for us. He can be a starter type guy, 2033 01:41:07,040 --> 01:41:08,720 Speaker 1: you have to take him. Look, you have to get 2034 01:41:09,000 --> 01:41:12,040 Speaker 1: the best quality you can. And look, do I think 2035 01:41:12,120 --> 01:41:14,439 Speaker 1: you know in my draft as I'm doing it now, 2036 01:41:14,600 --> 01:41:16,960 Speaker 1: that they don't take an offensive lineman in the first 2037 01:41:17,000 --> 01:41:19,200 Speaker 1: three picks. No, I do not. You know, I got 2038 01:41:19,280 --> 01:41:21,559 Speaker 1: kind of pigeonholed with Simmons, and you know, you kind 2039 01:41:21,560 --> 01:41:24,280 Speaker 1: of have to that. You can't start chasing there. That's 2040 01:41:24,320 --> 01:41:27,160 Speaker 1: the problem is you can't start chasing. Oh, we need 2041 01:41:27,200 --> 01:41:30,519 Speaker 1: an offensive lineman. Let's take a tackle with And the 2042 01:41:30,560 --> 01:41:32,360 Speaker 1: guy is a fourth round pick and you're taking him 2043 01:41:32,360 --> 01:41:34,280 Speaker 1: in the third round. You know, it's not it's not 2044 01:41:34,320 --> 01:41:36,120 Speaker 1: a wise thing to do. So I don't think it 2045 01:41:36,120 --> 01:41:38,160 Speaker 1: will go that way, But no, I think you have 2046 01:41:38,240 --> 01:41:41,080 Speaker 1: to grab him. You know, you have to grab him. 2047 01:41:41,120 --> 01:41:42,720 Speaker 1: And there's not a lot of positions here that I 2048 01:41:42,720 --> 01:41:44,800 Speaker 1: would say stay away from. If it's a running back, 2049 01:41:45,439 --> 01:41:47,400 Speaker 1: you can stay away from it or trade down. You know, 2050 01:41:47,439 --> 01:41:49,439 Speaker 1: if there's a guy, if there's someone salivating about a 2051 01:41:49,520 --> 01:41:51,639 Speaker 1: running back, if you can trade down and let him 2052 01:41:51,640 --> 01:41:53,240 Speaker 1: have the running back. But because you don't need a 2053 01:41:53,320 --> 01:41:55,559 Speaker 1: running back in the first you know, first two days 2054 01:41:55,560 --> 01:41:58,639 Speaker 1: of this draft, but any quarterback, you don't need him 2055 01:41:58,640 --> 01:42:02,040 Speaker 1: anybody else fair aim, go for him. Closing statement, Paul, 2056 01:42:02,120 --> 01:42:04,840 Speaker 1: for you to be excited about this draft and to 2057 01:42:04,920 --> 01:42:06,600 Speaker 1: get to the end of it and say, boy, the 2058 01:42:06,680 --> 01:42:09,200 Speaker 1: Giants did really well. They really helped their team. They're 2059 01:42:09,200 --> 01:42:10,880 Speaker 1: gonna make them a lot better next year. They're on 2060 01:42:10,920 --> 01:42:13,720 Speaker 1: the right path. What do you need to see when 2061 01:42:13,720 --> 01:42:17,960 Speaker 1: we kind of take uh stake of everything either Saturday 2062 01:42:18,040 --> 01:42:20,840 Speaker 1: night or Sunday morning. Okay, I think that's a good one, 2063 01:42:20,880 --> 01:42:23,280 Speaker 1: and it's one I can answer. It's not Isaiah Simmons 2064 01:42:23,280 --> 01:42:25,000 Speaker 1: around four, even though I love the player and I 2065 01:42:25,080 --> 01:42:29,559 Speaker 1: drafted him. It's it's okay. I know who they're starting 2066 01:42:29,640 --> 01:42:32,960 Speaker 1: right tackle is barring anything crazy because they just drafted them, 2067 01:42:32,960 --> 01:42:34,880 Speaker 1: you know, very high in the first round. Number one 2068 01:42:35,200 --> 01:42:37,479 Speaker 1: that is that gets me excited because I want to 2069 01:42:37,479 --> 01:42:39,360 Speaker 1: see Daniel Jones on his feet and I want to 2070 01:42:39,400 --> 01:42:41,639 Speaker 1: see say Kom Barkley with the ball in his hands 2071 01:42:41,680 --> 01:42:45,840 Speaker 1: and not hit three yards in the backfield. So that's insurance. 2072 01:42:45,840 --> 01:42:48,200 Speaker 1: You have to do it. So that's number one. You 2073 01:42:48,200 --> 01:42:50,439 Speaker 1: have to get an offensive tackle you think can play. 2074 01:42:50,680 --> 01:42:53,679 Speaker 1: You need a defensive impact player, whether it's Simmons, whether 2075 01:42:53,720 --> 01:42:56,280 Speaker 1: it's Grant Delpit, whether it's Um. You know, what do 2076 01:42:56,280 --> 01:42:59,519 Speaker 1: you think of Kenneth Murray from uh Um, Oklahoma? You know, 2077 01:42:59,640 --> 01:43:02,960 Speaker 1: I mean maybe you go, maybe he's sitting there? Was 2078 01:43:03,000 --> 01:43:05,559 Speaker 1: he on your board at thirty six? Now Queen and 2079 01:43:05,640 --> 01:43:09,920 Speaker 1: Murray the two top linebackers. After Simmons went back to 2080 01:43:09,960 --> 01:43:13,880 Speaker 1: back to the Patriots at twenty three, they selected Murray 2081 01:43:13,880 --> 01:43:17,920 Speaker 1: and Patrick Queen from LSU went to the Saints at four. Okay, well, 2082 01:43:18,040 --> 01:43:20,599 Speaker 1: look here's the thing. Every time we talk about the draft, 2083 01:43:20,720 --> 01:43:22,439 Speaker 1: right and I mentioned someone of you or you mentioned 2084 01:43:22,479 --> 01:43:24,360 Speaker 1: someone and me, we say, I don't think he's gonna 2085 01:43:24,360 --> 01:43:26,519 Speaker 1: be there. I don't think he's gonna be About forty 2086 01:43:26,520 --> 01:43:29,439 Speaker 1: five guys we mentioned that about right. So I don't 2087 01:43:29,479 --> 01:43:31,519 Speaker 1: think they can be forty five guys picked in the 2088 01:43:31,560 --> 01:43:34,280 Speaker 1: first thirty five picks. Right. I'm not great at math, 2089 01:43:34,360 --> 01:43:36,840 Speaker 1: but I think that's true. So there will always be 2090 01:43:36,880 --> 01:43:38,880 Speaker 1: guys who will say, we didn't think we're there. So 2091 01:43:38,960 --> 01:43:41,800 Speaker 1: I think they needed an offensive tackle. They need a 2092 01:43:41,840 --> 01:43:44,600 Speaker 1: guy who is an impact player on defense, and and 2093 01:43:44,640 --> 01:43:46,559 Speaker 1: I think they need a center. They need to find 2094 01:43:46,600 --> 01:43:49,160 Speaker 1: a center who you can look at and say, maybe 2095 01:43:49,200 --> 01:43:52,559 Speaker 1: not but one I could see him getting a little 2096 01:43:52,560 --> 01:43:54,960 Speaker 1: bigger and stronger and playing center. And then after that 2097 01:43:55,200 --> 01:43:56,880 Speaker 1: you just fill in the blanks, and you know there'll 2098 01:43:56,880 --> 01:43:59,120 Speaker 1: be some guys that you're interested or not interested in. 2099 01:43:59,320 --> 01:44:03,040 Speaker 1: But that that's what I would say. Tackle, impact defensive player, 2100 01:44:03,400 --> 01:44:05,200 Speaker 1: not a pass rusher, because I don't think you're gonna 2101 01:44:05,200 --> 01:44:10,519 Speaker 1: get one. And um, center center. I can't can't thank 2102 01:44:10,560 --> 01:44:12,360 Speaker 1: you enough for all the time we really appreciate. I'm 2103 01:44:12,360 --> 01:44:14,559 Speaker 1: gonna miss seeing you're on the building for the draft. 2104 01:44:14,840 --> 01:44:16,960 Speaker 1: That's always fun have everybody there and kind of just 2105 01:44:17,000 --> 01:44:19,720 Speaker 1: waiting in anticipation. You're rush into the press conference room 2106 01:44:19,800 --> 01:44:21,959 Speaker 1: right after the pick gets made, and there's some urgency. 2107 01:44:22,360 --> 01:44:24,439 Speaker 1: Instead we'll just be chewing out on our couch, maybe 2108 01:44:24,439 --> 01:44:26,439 Speaker 1: having a beverager too as he watched the draft and 2109 01:44:26,680 --> 01:44:28,320 Speaker 1: kind of do everybody will do their thing on their own, 2110 01:44:28,320 --> 01:44:30,360 Speaker 1: but it'll still be fun.
