Well, yes, they have announced some plans to 0:12:43.297 --> 0:12:48.537 make changes to how asylum seekers are processed now. And 0:12:48.617 --> 0:12:53.017 to put this into context, a federal judge has determined 0:12:53.457 --> 0:12:56.937 in response to lawsuits by a group of states that 0:12:57.017 --> 0:13:03.737 are frustrated by the Biden administrations continuing failure to get 0:13:03.777 --> 0:13:06.897 control of the border and deter illegal migration. So this 0:13:06.977 --> 0:13:09.417 judge said, look, under immigration law, you have two choices. 0:13:09.457 --> 0:13:11.817 You either have to detain people or you have to 0:13:11.857 --> 0:13:16.977 send them back to Mexico to await any processing. For example, 0:13:16.977 --> 0:13:19.977 if they want to make an asylum application. Well, the 0:13:20.017 --> 0:13:23.217 Biden administration is saying, well, we're going to do something 0:13:23.257 --> 0:13:27.137 different now. They've proposed a system that will allow people 0:13:27.217 --> 0:13:31.057 to apply for asylum at the border and be essentially 0:13:31.057 --> 0:13:36.377 whisked into the country to have their hearing in about 0:13:36.497 --> 0:13:41.297 three weeks with an asylum officer, a bureaucrat from a 0:13:41.337 --> 0:13:43.857 group of people that they are now trying to hire 0:13:45.017 --> 0:13:49.337 who will be interpreting the law according to guidelines that 0:13:50.337 --> 0:13:55.777 the Biden administration gives them, instead of going to immigration 0:13:55.937 --> 0:14:01.777 court where an immigration judge would decide on their asylum application. 0:14:02.177 --> 0:14:05.257 So basically it's a way to expedite kind of waving 0:14:05.297 --> 0:14:09.297 people through and laundering their status as asylum applicants so 0:14:09.337 --> 0:14:11.737 that they don't have to do what the judge said, 0:14:11.737 --> 0:14:16.017 which is either detain people or send them back across 0:14:16.057 --> 0:14:20.617 the border to Mexico. So it's a revolutionary change to 0:14:20.857 --> 0:14:25.377 how illegal border crossers will be handled. That is guaranteed 0:14:25.817 --> 0:14:29.337 to increase the incentives for people to come here and 0:14:29.417 --> 0:14:31.977 try to get in because they know this is basically 0:14:32.017 --> 0:14:36.817 a formalized catch and release program. And what percentage do 0:14:36.817 --> 0:14:39.177 we have some idea right now? With Title forty two 0:14:39.217 --> 0:14:42.817 still in place, there have been huge numbers of migrants 0:14:43.257 --> 0:14:45.497 illegally crossing in the US and then seeking to stay 0:14:45.577 --> 0:14:47.937 here over the last year, let's just say, the last 0:14:47.937 --> 0:14:51.577 twelve months or so, what percentage of them are actually 0:14:52.217 --> 0:14:54.657 likely to be able to stay? I mean, this is 0:14:54.657 --> 0:14:56.417 I think where it starts to get really confusing for people, 0:14:56.417 --> 0:14:59.657 because there's the asylum track. There are single adult males, 0:14:59.777 --> 0:15:01.937 their family units. I've seen the family units at the 0:15:01.937 --> 0:15:04.777 border and women with small children. They're treated very differently. 0:15:04.977 --> 0:15:08.217 They're unaccompanied miners. Who is getting to stay right now 0:15:08.217 --> 0:15:11.977 and who does it well? In the last six months, 0:15:12.017 --> 0:15:15.497 there have been about a million people encountered by the 0:15:15.577 --> 0:15:19.737 border patrol, and about half of those have been allowed 0:15:19.737 --> 0:15:24.297 to stay under the policy they've expelled. Biden administration policy 0:15:24.337 --> 0:15:27.337 has been to expel about half of the people arriving 0:15:27.617 --> 0:15:30.577 on Title forty two and let the other half come in. 0:15:30.617 --> 0:15:34.777 And of course there's an additional tens of thousands of 0:15:34.897 --> 0:15:38.657 goataways that we know about coming through per month as well, 0:15:39.097 --> 0:15:41.857 and those are a whole other story. They're just getting 0:15:41.937 --> 0:15:47.217 through with this possible change that we're expecting from the 0:15:47.257 --> 0:15:53.457 administration that they've been kind of forecasting themselves with some 0:15:53.537 --> 0:15:58.377 documents that they've filed with federal government. I would expect 0:15:58.497 --> 0:16:02.537 that the vast majority of people who are coming would 0:16:02.537 --> 0:16:06.577 have the ability to enter the country under whether it's 0:16:06.657 --> 0:16:11.017 as an asylum applicant or under some other forms that 0:16:11.097 --> 0:16:15.657 the Biden administration uses, because they are actually shrinking detention 0:16:15.737 --> 0:16:19.137 capacity at the border, which should tell us that they're 0:16:19.177 --> 0:16:22.177 not planning on detaining. They're not planning on sending people 0:16:22.217 --> 0:16:26.217 back right away. They're planning on having this managed math 0:16:26.617 --> 0:16:30.017 entry of people who show up at the border under 0:16:30.057 --> 0:16:35.057 the guise of a humanitarian admission. Obviously everyone 0:16:40.257 --> 0:16:42.537 sitting is like a million in six months.
