New Mexico, where we're providing service, 0:05:28.920 --> 0:05:31.960 does not have abortion restrictions, and so we're not fighting 0:05:32.000 --> 0:05:35.400 that fight here. But the Satanic Temple is in process 0:05:35.520 --> 0:05:39.600 of legally trying to get care provided in some other 0:05:39.640 --> 0:05:43.760 states where it is not so friendly. And so what TST. The mission of the Satanic Temple 0:06:25.440 --> 0:06:28.479 is to encourage benevolence and empathy, you know, to really 0:06:28.960 --> 0:06:34.600 advocate for practical, common sense, factual based information really really 0:06:34.640 --> 0:06:38.240 important for this group. They oppose in justice like taking 0:06:38.240 --> 0:06:40.640 away rights for women who want to have abortion as 0:06:40.680 --> 0:06:44.520 part of their healthcare, trans rights, LGBTQ rights, those kind 0:06:44.560 --> 0:06:48.000 of things. And so that's really the overarching kind of 0:06:48.040 --> 0:06:51.680 mission statement of the Satanic Temple and making sure that 0:06:51.880 --> 0:06:54.280 decisions that are being made, whether that's at a local 0:06:54.480 --> 0:06:58.320 government level or at the upper levels of the United 0:06:58.320 --> 0:07:01.159 States government, that those decision are based on facts and 0:07:01.160 --> 0:07:04.200 based on science and not based on a religion that 0:07:04.360 --> 0:07:07.400 is not based in science or based in facts, and 0:07:07.560 --> 0:07:12.040 is you know, and excludes certain people because for whatever reason, 0:07:13.160 --> 0:07:16.840 the fundamental tenets of the Satanic Temples, so there are 0:07:16.840 --> 0:07:19.480 seven of them. The tenants also 0:07:53.960 --> 0:07:56.800 talk a little bit about compassion and empathy towards people, 0:07:57.200 --> 0:08:01.320 trying to understand people, not judgingtruggle for justice, you know, 0:08:01.400 --> 0:08:05.440 and not having certain groups marginalized. I think when people hear the Satanic Temple, 0:09:35.160 --> 0:09:37.880 they're thinking, oh my gosh, they're worshiping Satan. I'm going to read what the TST 0:15:02.440 --> 0:15:05.680 Health site says about the abortion ritual. So it serves 0:15:05.720 --> 0:15:08.600 as a protective right. Its purpose is to cast off 0:15:08.680 --> 0:15:11.400 unwanted feelings that a patient may be experiencing due to 0:15:11.440 --> 0:15:14.160 choosing to have a legal and medically safe abortion. The 0:15:14.320 --> 0:15:17.680 ritual is designed to alleviate stressors and empower the patient 0:15:17.720 --> 0:15:20.200 to be guided by the Satanic Temple's third and fifth 0:15:20.240 --> 0:15:24.000 tenants when pursuing their decision. The ritual serves to assist 0:15:24.000 --> 0:15:26.480 in affirming their decision and to ward off the effects 0:15:26.480 --> 0:15:29.240 of unjust persecution, which can cause one to stray from 0:15:29.240 --> 0:15:32.480 the paths of scientific reasoning and free will, and those 0:15:32.520 --> 0:15:35.040 third and fifth tenants.
