In May of twenty twenty one, 0:02:22.737 --> 0:02:25.897 the Vice President launched the Call to Action for businesses 0:02:25.897 --> 0:02:29.737 and social enterprises to make significant commitments to promote economic 0:02:29.737 --> 0:02:33.577 opportunity for people in the region. Aggregate commitments under this 0:02:33.617 --> 0:02:37.737 initiative now total more than three point two billion dollars. Now, look, 0:02:38.457 --> 0:02:43.177 it's fine to be trying to help with economic prosperity 0:02:43.297 --> 0:02:46.897 and a near neighbor, in this case Central America, But 0:02:47.057 --> 0:02:49.177 does anybody think this is actually gonna deal with the 0:02:49.217 --> 0:02:51.297 fact that we have hundreds of thousands of people coming 0:02:51.297 --> 0:02:54.457 into the country illegally right now? And also how likely 0:02:54.617 --> 0:02:57.177 is it that the economic calculus for somebody from say 0:02:57.217 --> 0:03:01.057 Al Salvador or Honduras or Guatemala of the Northern Triangle countries, 0:03:01.777 --> 0:03:04.337 We'll think, you know what, my country is so prosperous 0:03:04.377 --> 0:03:07.617 right now, who needs America? That's pretty unlikely.
