They really playing 233 00:11:38,800 --> 00:11:41,200 Speaker 4: to the crowd, like it's it's like a show. You're 234 00:11:41,240 --> 00:11:44,560 Speaker 4: coming to the game. Peorrea is Central. They playing at 235 00:11:44,600 --> 00:11:48,280 Speaker 4: the field House at Bradley and it's like, you know, 236 00:11:48,400 --> 00:11:51,240 Speaker 4: the stage is elevated, they black out the crowd like 237 00:11:51,360 --> 00:11:54,120 Speaker 4: they it's like a show man Friday night, Like that's 238 00:11:54,160 --> 00:11:56,480 Speaker 4: where you want to be. So I grew up watching that, 239 00:11:57,080 --> 00:11:59,880 Speaker 4: watching those players the just man, they just did everything. 240 00:12:00,120 --> 00:12:02,720 Speaker 4: My confidence, like the Bulls was the nineties. But like 241 00:12:02,760 --> 00:12:06,079 Speaker 4: for me in Peoria, like man, you're central, Like that's 242 00:12:06,120 --> 00:12:06,920 Speaker 4: that's what I grew up. 243 00:12:07,320 --> 00:12:09,600 Speaker 1: So when it came down to you choosing which school 244 00:12:09,640 --> 00:12:11,560 Speaker 1: you wanted to go to, a. 245 00:12:11,600 --> 00:12:17,280 Speaker 2: Ball boiler, rich Wood everywhere about that decision and what 246 00:12:17,360 --> 00:12:22,280 Speaker 2: made you choose high school? Yeah, man, my Pops was wild. 247 00:12:22,480 --> 00:12:31,600 Speaker 4: He had me going, Pops tripping, Pop trip, he had 248 00:12:31,760 --> 00:12:34,160 Speaker 4: you know, he working at rich Woods. I'm going, but 249 00:12:34,200 --> 00:12:36,600 Speaker 4: he taking me. See that's the thing like that, that 250 00:12:36,760 --> 00:12:37,400 Speaker 4: was his secret. 251 00:12:37,400 --> 00:12:37,760 Speaker 2: Sauce. 252 00:12:38,200 --> 00:12:41,040 Speaker 4: Son, you're gonna go to the hood. I'm taking you down. 253 00:12:41,120 --> 00:12:43,120 Speaker 4: You're playing at these games. I'm gonna drop you off. 254 00:12:43,160 --> 00:12:46,120 Speaker 4: I'll be back like job Pop. So he taking me, 255 00:12:46,240 --> 00:12:48,280 Speaker 4: you know, he taken me everywhere to play, like I 256 00:12:48,360 --> 00:12:51,600 Speaker 4: want you to play against everybody. You're not dodging anybody, 257 00:12:52,120 --> 00:12:55,000 Speaker 4: you know. So I'm going to all the high schools. 258 00:12:55,000 --> 00:12:58,880 Speaker 4: But doing this, everybody think I'm coming today high school 259 00:12:58,920 --> 00:13:01,120 Speaker 4: because at this time I'm eighth grade. I'm a little 260 00:13:01,160 --> 00:13:03,360 Speaker 4: you know, I'm a phenie. I'm going all these camps, 261 00:13:03,920 --> 00:13:07,280 Speaker 4: so everybody think I'm going to their high school. I 262 00:13:07,360 --> 00:13:10,600 Speaker 4: ended up going to rich Woods. A lot of my 263 00:13:10,679 --> 00:13:12,600 Speaker 4: friends go out there. I told you I was the 264 00:13:12,600 --> 00:13:17,000 Speaker 4: ball boy for you know, Mike Robinson team, and at 265 00:13:17,040 --> 00:13:19,480 Speaker 4: the time, they got one of the best teams. They go, 266 00:13:19,600 --> 00:13:24,040 Speaker 4: they end up going downstate. Marcus Jackson played at Marquette. 267 00:13:24,400 --> 00:13:27,880 Speaker 4: He is senior. A couple of Steve Turner, a couple 268 00:13:27,920 --> 00:13:31,080 Speaker 4: of these guys were the star players. So I go 269 00:13:31,160 --> 00:13:34,400 Speaker 4: there and that was kind of the best team in 270 00:13:34,440 --> 00:13:35,880 Speaker 4: the area at the time. But where a lot of 271 00:13:35,920 --> 00:13:38,959 Speaker 4: my friends was going. But looking back, I should have 272 00:13:39,040 --> 00:13:41,280 Speaker 4: been at Central. That's where I grew up at. I 273 00:13:41,320 --> 00:13:45,160 Speaker 4: grew up Central, Illinois, which we called a hill down 274 00:13:45,160 --> 00:13:47,400 Speaker 4: the hill. That's Manuel up the hill on top of 275 00:13:47,400 --> 00:13:49,480 Speaker 4: the hill, that's Central. You know what I'm saying. We 276 00:13:49,520 --> 00:13:50,320 Speaker 4: don't like each other. 277 00:13:50,520 --> 00:13:50,760 Speaker 3: You know. 278 00:13:52,320 --> 00:13:56,240 Speaker 4: What it is like, you know, it's beef. But I 279 00:13:56,720 --> 00:13:59,040 Speaker 4: should have been at Central. That's that's probably where I 280 00:13:59,040 --> 00:13:59,559 Speaker 4: should have been. 281 00:14:00,760 --> 00:14:03,720 Speaker 1: You watched all this history, you watched Frank them and 282 00:14:03,760 --> 00:14:06,240 Speaker 1: all of them winning state title. Tell us what it 283 00:14:06,320 --> 00:14:11,679 Speaker 1: meant for you to win a state title in Illinois. 284 00:14:10,280 --> 00:14:14,040 Speaker 4: Man, I mean some of the greatest hoopers, Like Illinois 285 00:14:14,120 --> 00:14:18,840 Speaker 4: is known marsh Madness. Like high school basketball, like you 286 00:14:18,880 --> 00:14:20,680 Speaker 4: said it U and I that's what it was. You know, 287 00:14:20,760 --> 00:14:23,880 Speaker 4: state championships, some legendary games down there, and then we 288 00:14:23,920 --> 00:14:26,520 Speaker 4: had to go through the Chicago teams. At the time, 289 00:14:26,680 --> 00:14:29,920 Speaker 4: you only had one you had two classes. You don't 290 00:14:30,000 --> 00:14:32,400 Speaker 4: have one Chicago team that could come out of there, 291 00:14:33,320 --> 00:14:35,920 Speaker 4: which was wrong because you had probably you know, three 292 00:14:35,920 --> 00:14:38,640 Speaker 4: of them that probably could have won, right, three, four, 293 00:14:38,840 --> 00:14:42,160 Speaker 4: five teams at the time. So we ended up playing 294 00:14:42,720 --> 00:14:46,560 Speaker 4: Von Steuben. We ended up playing Chicago Von Steuben and 295 00:14:47,160 --> 00:14:51,880 Speaker 4: Home with Fossmore. That's crazy, Home with Fossmore in the championship. 296 00:14:51,960 --> 00:14:53,960 Speaker 4: That was my last year. In the first year, we 297 00:14:54,040 --> 00:14:58,640 Speaker 4: beat throwing with in the championship. But Edie cry no, no, no, 298 00:14:58,840 --> 00:15:01,200 Speaker 4: he was So I went to the state was freshman 299 00:15:01,240 --> 00:15:03,800 Speaker 4: year with rich was and Eddie beat us by thirty. 300 00:15:04,280 --> 00:15:06,800 Speaker 4: We played him the first game down state and Eddie, 301 00:15:07,080 --> 00:15:09,880 Speaker 4: Eddie probably had forty he dunking on his drop step 302 00:15:10,040 --> 00:15:13,200 Speaker 4: dunk like just he was a man. And then he gone, 303 00:15:13,240 --> 00:15:15,280 Speaker 4: this is like two thousand and three, two thousand and four, 304 00:15:15,800 --> 00:15:18,360 Speaker 4: and so by that time I'm a junior and senior 305 00:15:18,840 --> 00:15:23,880 Speaker 4: I think that's uh Shannon Brown, Yeah, Richard McBride, those 306 00:15:24,000 --> 00:15:27,920 Speaker 4: those guys a little bit younger and then uh yeah, man, 307 00:15:28,040 --> 00:15:30,360 Speaker 4: just winning you know, just just winning the state like 308 00:15:31,200 --> 00:15:32,480 Speaker 4: you know, it was just my time. 309 00:15:32,720 --> 00:15:33,080 Speaker 2: Yeah. 310 00:15:33,320 --> 00:15:37,280 Speaker 4: Really like again, just like I say, watching y'all seeing 311 00:15:37,800 --> 00:15:41,360 Speaker 4: Franklin and seeing Manual and Surge and you know, Surge 312 00:15:41,400 --> 00:15:43,560 Speaker 4: won four state titles. Like what they did was he 313 00:15:43,640 --> 00:15:49,160 Speaker 4: was legendary. That's a legendary, you know, man, Wayne McClain. 314 00:15:48,920 --> 00:15:50,920 Speaker 2: Like legend and legends. 315 00:15:52,040 --> 00:15:54,440 Speaker 4: He was the big dog got that seriously, like they 316 00:15:54,560 --> 00:15:57,960 Speaker 4: really ran things, you know, Wayne McClain, like you know, 317 00:15:58,280 --> 00:16:01,360 Speaker 4: they was really like there was a father to a 318 00:16:01,360 --> 00:16:04,760 Speaker 4: lot of guys too, right, there was your coach, but 319 00:16:04,880 --> 00:16:07,600 Speaker 4: you know, coming out of those rough areas, you know, 320 00:16:07,640 --> 00:16:10,440 Speaker 4: a lot of the players, they was like a father figure. 321 00:16:10,560 --> 00:16:13,160 Speaker 4: So they was real titans, man. And I grew up 322 00:16:13,200 --> 00:16:15,560 Speaker 4: watching that and you know, being able to win and 323 00:16:15,600 --> 00:16:18,440 Speaker 4: put my name that's my name is Stone, like that 324 00:16:18,560 --> 00:16:19,280 Speaker 4: was special for me. 325 00:16:19,720 --> 00:16:21,520 Speaker 1: But you don't know nothing about this. I remember that. 519 00:25:58,359 --> 00:26:02,000 Speaker 4: This is like two thous and I first went up 520 00:26:02,000 --> 00:26:04,560 Speaker 4: there two thousand and three, and I remember watching Mike 521 00:26:04,680 --> 00:26:08,040 Speaker 4: play big Mic, seeing the run, seeing the games. I 522 00:26:08,040 --> 00:26:09,680 Speaker 4: ain't get a chance to play, get on the court 523 00:26:09,720 --> 00:26:13,080 Speaker 4: or nothing. But then two thousand and four, you know, 524 00:26:13,280 --> 00:26:16,399 Speaker 4: like they got all these mock drafts, and then you 525 00:26:16,400 --> 00:26:18,880 Speaker 4: know Dwight Howard in the class he gone, he ain't 526 00:26:18,880 --> 00:26:21,439 Speaker 4: going to college. Sure he's telling everybody, I'm gone. He 527 00:26:21,800 --> 00:26:25,080 Speaker 4: projected to be number one pick. Were playing the McDonald's games, 528 00:26:25,160 --> 00:26:27,480 Speaker 4: j R. Smith, I think he's the MVP. Like, man, 529 00:26:27,520 --> 00:26:30,760 Speaker 4: I think I'm finna go to the league off this game, 530 00:26:31,000 --> 00:26:33,919 Speaker 4: Like damn, you was just going to college. Like so 531 00:26:34,000 --> 00:26:36,280 Speaker 4: it was just a wave, you know, you it came out. 532 00:26:36,680 --> 00:26:39,240 Speaker 4: You know, bron was a class before us, Big Perk. 533 00:26:39,800 --> 00:26:42,720 Speaker 4: You know those guys indeb like they was. 534 00:26:42,680 --> 00:26:51,280 Speaker 3: A class him. It was to Minnesota. 535 00:26:51,320 --> 00:26:54,040 Speaker 2: That's right, That's right. So it was just a lot 536 00:26:54,040 --> 00:26:56,800 Speaker 2: of it was a wave going on. For me. I 537 00:26:56,880 --> 00:26:57,560 Speaker 2: always knew. 538 00:26:57,600 --> 00:27:00,920 Speaker 4: I was like, I'm going to college again, buck fifty, 539 00:27:01,320 --> 00:27:03,840 Speaker 4: Like I need to get stronger, I need to develop, 540 00:27:03,960 --> 00:27:06,800 Speaker 4: work on my jump shot, all these things. So in 541 00:27:06,840 --> 00:27:10,880 Speaker 4: my mind, I'm going to college. But I start going 542 00:27:10,920 --> 00:27:14,119 Speaker 4: up to Hoops at the time, and you know all 543 00:27:14,160 --> 00:27:16,600 Speaker 4: these mock drafts. You know, you could be top ten, 544 00:27:16,720 --> 00:27:20,120 Speaker 4: you could be lottery whatever it was. But I did 545 00:27:20,200 --> 00:27:23,679 Speaker 4: one workout. Tim Grover at the time acted as my agent. 546 00:27:23,760 --> 00:27:27,120 Speaker 4: He like he like, Sean, We're gonna do one workout. 547 00:27:27,200 --> 00:27:29,480 Speaker 4: I'm gonna bring thirty teams up here. I'm like, damn, 548 00:27:29,520 --> 00:27:31,600 Speaker 4: you can get all thirty of these teams up here. 549 00:27:31,640 --> 00:27:34,160 Speaker 4: Like Tim at the time had cloud like that. Yeah 550 00:27:34,320 --> 00:27:36,960 Speaker 4: he did, Yeah, like he had it. So I do 551 00:27:37,080 --> 00:27:40,000 Speaker 4: one workout this before the pre draft at Hoops. All 552 00:27:40,080 --> 00:27:44,520 Speaker 4: thirty gms there, like assistant gms or gms. I remember 553 00:27:44,560 --> 00:27:48,240 Speaker 4: Steve Curry, John Paxton, Chris Mullin, like they all sitting there. 554 00:27:48,520 --> 00:27:52,640 Speaker 4: You know, I'm looking like, damn, like these real decision makers. Okay, 555 00:27:52,960 --> 00:27:56,200 Speaker 4: So I'm doing a one on old workout by myself 556 00:27:56,560 --> 00:28:00,280 Speaker 4: for like an hour. Afterwards, we go up totate to 557 00:28:00,320 --> 00:28:05,000 Speaker 4: the weight room. Nobody even really said nothing, so I'm 599 00:30:03,520 --> 00:30:07,080 Speaker 1: like a all right. Then the next week, I guess 600 00:30:07,080 --> 00:30:09,520 Speaker 1: it kind of hit everybody like, oh shit, he ain't 601 00:30:09,560 --> 00:30:11,760 Speaker 1: going He going straight to the league. 602 00:30:11,760 --> 00:30:14,920 Speaker 2: So you ain't have it like a lay reaction in Peoria. 603 00:30:15,160 --> 00:30:17,680 Speaker 4: I mean, you know, I feel like it was more 604 00:30:17,800 --> 00:30:20,160 Speaker 4: like people wanted to say something, but they ain't know 605 00:30:20,200 --> 00:30:22,520 Speaker 4: what to say, you know what I'm saying, Like they 606 00:30:22,520 --> 00:30:24,560 Speaker 4: ain't know how to look at me now, like damn 607 00:30:25,040 --> 00:30:27,320 Speaker 4: he about to go to the league. Like it was 608 00:30:27,360 --> 00:30:30,040 Speaker 4: almost like I was already in the league at pure 609 00:30:30,200 --> 00:30:33,320 Speaker 4: like I was already removed by that time, like and 610 00:30:33,400 --> 00:30:35,960 Speaker 4: so you know, and be honest with you, I wasn't 611 00:30:36,000 --> 00:30:37,040 Speaker 4: spending a lot of time there. 612 00:30:37,080 --> 00:30:37,520 Speaker 2: I was up in. 613 00:30:37,560 --> 00:30:41,400 Speaker 4: Chicago time like it's and now it's I'm gone, you know, 614 00:30:41,600 --> 00:30:43,960 Speaker 4: like I end up graduating. Like I said, I'm still 615 00:30:44,040 --> 00:30:46,880 Speaker 4: leaving school. I probably got maybe two three weeks left 616 00:30:47,080 --> 00:30:50,520 Speaker 4: because I declared late, maybe like not even a month 617 00:30:50,600 --> 00:30:54,240 Speaker 4: before pre drive. So at that time, I'm probably spending 618 00:30:54,680 --> 00:30:57,960 Speaker 4: four days just to go to school, you know, graduate 619 00:30:58,160 --> 00:31:00,920 Speaker 4: and I'm gone, you know, like I'm out of there. 620 00:31:00,960 --> 00:31:03,040 Speaker 2: So was that the only workout you had? Did you? 621 00:31:03,360 --> 00:31:05,240 Speaker 1: After you got the agent and stuff? Did you start 622 00:31:05,280 --> 00:31:07,520 Speaker 1: working out for teams? And for me also too, I 670 00:33:32,360 --> 00:33:35,320 Speaker 4: felt that was normal because coming out of high school, 671 00:33:35,400 --> 00:33:37,479 Speaker 4: like that's what we was trying to do, Like I 672 00:33:37,560 --> 00:33:40,960 Speaker 4: wanted to face you know, Sebastian and you know all 673 00:33:41,000 --> 00:33:43,920 Speaker 4: the other top guards and so for me, Darius Washington 674 00:33:44,080 --> 00:33:48,280 Speaker 4: was a name, Yeah, he was a name in our class. 675 00:33:48,760 --> 00:33:52,320 Speaker 4: Ended up going to Memphis. But like being able to like, again, 676 00:33:52,640 --> 00:33:55,400 Speaker 4: we're not hiding, like we need to go against these 677 00:33:55,400 --> 00:33:56,959 Speaker 4: guys I need to show. I need to see what 678 00:33:57,000 --> 00:33:59,400 Speaker 4: I'm capable of. I want to match up against them 679 00:33:59,400 --> 00:34:01,360 Speaker 4: and see where I'm that. So you did work with 680 00:34:01,400 --> 00:34:04,560 Speaker 4: the workout with the Clippers though, Yeah, absolutely, we got 681 00:34:04,560 --> 00:34:07,440 Speaker 4: picked and we never worked out for him. Really never 682 00:34:07,520 --> 00:34:10,920 Speaker 4: worked didn't either, none of but they picked. 683 00:34:10,920 --> 00:34:12,160 Speaker 2: They had three picks that. 684 00:34:12,160 --> 00:34:15,000 Speaker 3: Year and they picked the man's first key on second, 685 00:34:15,080 --> 00:34:16,719 Speaker 3: me third, and not one of us worked out. 686 00:34:16,880 --> 00:34:21,920 Speaker 2: Elgend Baylor to the GM at the time, mother him 687 00:34:21,960 --> 00:34:24,600 Speaker 2: and Jeff Jeff Wellbon who was like the president of Orlando. 688 00:34:25,000 --> 00:34:27,600 Speaker 2: He was like the assistant. They knew what they was doing. 689 00:34:27,640 --> 00:34:29,880 Speaker 4: So Mike Dunlevy was the coach at the time. I 690 00:34:29,880 --> 00:34:31,919 Speaker 4: don't know if you play no, I played my last 691 00:34:32,280 --> 00:34:35,000 Speaker 4: last year. Listen, yeah, listen, yeah, yeah. 692 00:34:35,160 --> 00:34:38,160 Speaker 2: I fucking love Mike Nobody listen. 693 00:34:38,280 --> 00:34:41,480 Speaker 3: I love all my coaches my whole career, but not 694 00:34:41,640 --> 00:34:45,279 Speaker 3: one coach that I played for was on me. Like 695 00:34:45,520 --> 00:34:49,040 Speaker 3: Mike Dunleavy senior like fuck that bus his ass, like 696 00:34:49,120 --> 00:34:50,680 Speaker 3: you know, and he's surprised you did. 697 00:34:50,680 --> 00:34:52,440 Speaker 2: He talked like that, right, he. 698 00:34:52,440 --> 00:34:55,200 Speaker 3: Talked like that, like man, whatever you know dropped you 699 00:34:55,440 --> 00:34:58,279 Speaker 3: drive you They'll be like hey, they put they just 700 00:34:58,360 --> 00:35:00,720 Speaker 3: su look down. 701 00:35:00,640 --> 00:35:05,040 Speaker 2: Up fuck that drop it anyway. What he'd just see you was acting 829 00:40:59,920 --> 00:41:00,200 Speaker 3: like that. 830 00:41:01,040 --> 00:41:03,400 Speaker 2: Well I couldn't act like that because I had y'all 831 00:41:03,440 --> 00:41:09,200 Speaker 2: with me. I had this is what I'm saying, prime example. 832 00:41:09,320 --> 00:41:11,759 Speaker 3: I argue you that probably more so Year one, but 833 00:41:11,800 --> 00:41:14,239 Speaker 3: I still felt like, like you understand, you know him, 834 00:41:14,280 --> 00:41:17,480 Speaker 3: in his heart he loved l so it was a 835 00:41:17,520 --> 00:41:20,399 Speaker 3: part of him. He would go at him and bust 836 00:41:20,480 --> 00:41:24,600 Speaker 3: his ass. I felt like he could do more. Prime example. 837 00:41:24,680 --> 00:41:26,320 Speaker 3: And you know what I'm trying the truth. Were driving 838 00:41:26,400 --> 00:41:29,359 Speaker 3: up Year two, were driving up the training camp from 839 00:41:29,640 --> 00:41:32,319 Speaker 3: we played training CAUs in Palm spring We driving from 840 00:41:32,480 --> 00:41:33,960 Speaker 3: LA to Palm Springs. 841 00:41:34,360 --> 00:41:38,200 Speaker 2: Whole way. What I'm telling you, fuck that now. I 842 00:41:38,239 --> 00:41:41,840 Speaker 2: love that Lo too. I love him. Look hey, he 843 00:41:42,040 --> 00:41:42,439 Speaker 2: like man. 844 00:41:42,760 --> 00:41:44,520 Speaker 3: He tells, you know, they gonna start at me. I say, 845 00:41:44,680 --> 00:41:47,200 Speaker 3: I don't give a fuck. You better serve notice that 846 00:41:47,280 --> 00:41:49,040 Speaker 3: this this ship is being given. 847 00:41:48,760 --> 00:41:51,080 Speaker 2: And it ain't gonna last long. I'm gonna take this ship. 848 00:41:51,400 --> 00:41:54,760 Speaker 2: I would go everybody killed everybody. 849 00:41:54,760 --> 00:41:58,200 Speaker 1: I don't feel that way because our second team killed 850 00:41:58,280 --> 00:42:00,640 Speaker 1: them all the time. And then when second team I 851 00:42:00,719 --> 00:42:04,040 Speaker 1: never mesched up with l It was always Corey going 852 00:42:04,239 --> 00:42:06,160 Speaker 1: low because I played the four right. 853 00:42:06,280 --> 00:42:08,480 Speaker 2: Right, you know what I'm saying. So I never could 854 00:42:08,600 --> 00:42:11,520 Speaker 2: really was and at the time for me, like see, 855 00:42:11,800 --> 00:42:13,719 Speaker 2: that's what I'm saying, you've left. And if if I 856 00:42:13,719 --> 00:42:14,360 Speaker 2: would have had. 857 00:42:14,239 --> 00:42:15,840 Speaker 4: A little bit more of that gas, I felt like 858 00:42:16,800 --> 00:42:18,719 Speaker 4: my foot on the gas a little bit harder, like 859 00:42:19,680 --> 00:42:22,040 Speaker 4: even you know, even though no, no, you see what 860 00:42:22,040 --> 00:42:25,880 Speaker 4: I'm saying, Like, but okay, Bobby Simmons, I had Corey mcghetty, 861 00:42:26,040 --> 00:42:29,040 Speaker 4: you know, like the Chicago guys. Gentry wasn't ready 883 00:43:24,040 --> 00:43:26,399 Speaker 3: for that shit yet he was still in his If 884 00:43:26,480 --> 00:43:28,640 Speaker 3: Q played Corey, don't play. If Corey played Q, don't 885 00:43:28,680 --> 00:43:30,840 Speaker 3: play like he ain't know how to like let everybody. 886 00:43:31,600 --> 00:43:34,600 Speaker 3: That made everybody be in everybody neck all day long. 887 00:43:35,360 --> 00:43:37,440 Speaker 2: Even if we even though we was tight, it was like, 888 00:43:37,560 --> 00:43:39,480 Speaker 2: that's why why you think? I remember hearing the 891 00:43:44,920 --> 00:43:47,560 Speaker 3: store the year after we was about to fucking go 892 00:43:47,880 --> 00:43:50,120 Speaker 3: like and that was partially why. 893 00:43:50,040 --> 00:43:52,760 Speaker 2: I left because it was like to make a decision. 894 00:43:53,960 --> 00:43:56,040 Speaker 3: No, we all could have stayed, but it just wasn't 895 00:43:56,080 --> 00:43:58,360 Speaker 3: to me, it didn't seem healthy. It was like Bobby 896 00:43:58,520 --> 00:44:01,520 Speaker 3: was emerging. So I learned a lot from him just 992 00:48:31,320 --> 00:48:33,960 Speaker 4: about like how to run a team and how to 993 00:48:34,400 --> 00:48:37,239 Speaker 4: you know, like he gave energy to guys similar how 994 00:48:37,280 --> 00:48:39,600 Speaker 4: you was, you know, talking to d Miles, Like he 995 00:48:39,800 --> 00:48:42,000 Speaker 4: had that in him where it's like, come on, what 996 00:48:42,120 --> 00:48:44,759 Speaker 4: you waiting on, Like let's go, you know, And he 997 00:48:44,920 --> 00:48:47,759 Speaker 4: showed me how to run a team, you know, and 998 00:48:48,239 --> 00:48:50,400 Speaker 4: always like he was never afraid of the moment. He 999 00:48:50,680 --> 00:48:52,520 Speaker 4: you know, like he went the rock like give it 1000 00:48:52,600 --> 00:48:54,479 Speaker 4: to me, y'all get out the way, like I'm gonna 1001 00:48:54,480 --> 00:48:57,879 Speaker 4: get to my spot, and watching him how to lead. 1002 00:48:58,440 --> 00:48:59,560 Speaker 2: He had his own style. 1003 00:49:00,280 --> 00:49:02,880 Speaker 4: I think it war on people if you wasn't a 1004 00:49:03,000 --> 00:49:06,080 Speaker 4: certain type, you know, like you see what I'm saying, 1005 00:49:06,239 --> 00:49:08,920 Speaker 4: like it'll wear on you, you know, Like we got 1006 00:49:08,960 --> 00:49:12,040 Speaker 4: into it a couple of times during the game. But again, 1007 00:49:12,160 --> 00:49:14,440 Speaker 4: it all come from a place of competition and want 1008 00:49:14,520 --> 00:49:17,400 Speaker 4: to win, you know, like love don't want to win, 1009 00:49:17,520 --> 00:49:19,480 Speaker 4: you don't love it, get out the way, you know. 1010 00:49:19,800 --> 00:49:23,239 Speaker 4: And I respected that, and you gotta respect it. And 1011 00:49:23,360 --> 00:49:26,200 Speaker 4: so like, I learned a lot from Sam those couple 1012 00:49:26,239 --> 00:49:28,680 Speaker 4: of years that I was with him. He taught me 1013 00:49:28,760 --> 00:49:31,479 Speaker 4: a lot, just again how to control the game, time 1014 00:49:31,560 --> 00:49:35,080 Speaker 4: and score possessions, you know, like man when to take 1015 00:49:35,160 --> 00:49:38,120 Speaker 4: over the game, like just hitting timely shots. You know, 1016 00:49:38,280 --> 00:49:40,680 Speaker 4: team going to run, he comes, Okay, we got to 1017 00:49:40,719 --> 00:49:43,560 Speaker 4: get a bucket. Just learning watching them from the bench, 1018 00:49:44,120 --> 00:49:47,520 Speaker 4: watching how you move, and just just his energy was infectuous. 1019 00:49:48,160 --> 00:49:50,720 Speaker 4: He was definitely a big mentor for me at that stage. 1020 00:49:54,960 --> 00:49:58,000 Speaker 1: So you trending up and you're getting better and better 1021 00:49:58,120 --> 00:50:02,160 Speaker 1: every year, and then your injury come right like one 1022 00:50:02,200 --> 00:50:06,160 Speaker 1: of the worst in most you've seen in the NBA history. 1023 00:50:06,520 --> 00:50:08,480 Speaker 1: I God, damn, I had tears in my eyes when 1024 00:50:08,520 --> 00:50:11,600 Speaker 1: I was watching that. And just knowing you and knowing 1025 00:50:11,680 --> 00:50:13,239 Speaker 1: your ability and knowing how. 1026 00:50:13,200 --> 00:50:13,920 Speaker 2: You training up. 1027 00:50:14,520 --> 00:50:17,120 Speaker 1: Just take us back to that day, the injury and 1028 00:50:17,840 --> 00:50:20,400 Speaker 1: the doctor's time out they might need to amputate your 1029 00:50:20,480 --> 00:50:21,840 Speaker 1: leg and all that stuff. 1030 00:50:22,000 --> 00:50:24,960 Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, I mean it's it's it's documented, but It's 1031 00:50:25,040 --> 00:50:28,320 Speaker 4: one of those things where you can't really prepare for 1032 00:50:28,440 --> 00:50:30,680 Speaker 4: it and just timing. 1033 00:50:30,800 --> 00:50:31,480 Speaker 2: You just never know. 1034 00:50:31,640 --> 00:50:33,480 Speaker 4: That's why I try to tell young fellas like, man, 1035 00:50:33,600 --> 00:50:37,240 Speaker 4: take it serious because you just don't know. And especially 1036 00:50:37,280 --> 00:50:39,320 Speaker 4: a lot of young fellas too, Like I feel like 1037 00:50:39,440 --> 00:50:41,840 Speaker 4: that's the thing now where when I came in, it 1038 00:50:41,960 --> 00:50:43,759 Speaker 4: was vets. I'm sure when y'all came in, it was 1039 00:50:43,800 --> 00:50:45,560 Speaker 4: a lot of vets. It was a lot of guys 1040 00:50:45,640 --> 00:50:46,520 Speaker 4: over thirty. 1041 00:50:46,680 --> 00:50:47,800 Speaker 2: You know, fifty years. 1042 00:50:50,280 --> 00:50:52,839 Speaker 4: Five, you know, and so like you found a lot 1043 00:50:52,880 --> 00:50:54,960 Speaker 4: of these guys and you know, guys making a lot, 1044 00:50:55,120 --> 00:50:58,200 Speaker 4: you know, like the Max guys or whatever, and they 1045 00:50:58,280 --> 00:51:01,880 Speaker 4: got their own way, you know, doing things. But you 1046 00:51:01,960 --> 00:51:03,919 Speaker 4: know that don't mean that should be your way because 1047 00:51:03,960 --> 00:51:06,560 Speaker 4: you never know when your time is up. Like, you 1048 00:51:06,680 --> 00:51:08,839 Speaker 4: got to really take it serious soon as you get 1049 00:51:08,840 --> 00:51:11,640 Speaker 4: in and really establish yourself. You may it's one thing 1050 00:51:11,680 --> 00:51:13,640 Speaker 4: to make it to the league, but then once you 1051 00:51:13,760 --> 00:51:15,520 Speaker 4: make it, you start all over and I don't nobody 1052 00:51:15,640 --> 00:51:18,279 Speaker 4: care about you was a second pick, third pill. Like 1053 00:51:18,400 --> 00:51:21,239 Speaker 4: that's great, but like I'm finna, you know, like start 1054 00:51:21,320 --> 00:51:24,160 Speaker 4: from scratch, Start from scratch, like this high eat you 1055 00:51:24,200 --> 00:51:27,399 Speaker 4: see what I'm saying. So had that mentality and take 1056 00:51:27,440 --> 00:51:30,320 Speaker 4: it serious as a professional because you never know, because 1057 00:51:30,360 --> 00:51:33,839 Speaker 4: for me, you know, the sky was the limit all 1058 00:51:33,880 --> 00:51:36,759 Speaker 4: this potential. I'm starting to realize some of that potential 1059 00:51:37,080 --> 00:51:40,120 Speaker 4: year three, you know, like the stats and who I'm 1060 00:51:40,160 --> 00:51:42,560 Speaker 4: going up against, and just you know, really like feeling 1061 00:51:42,640 --> 00:51:45,160 Speaker 4: myself like okay, like I could be an All Star 1062 00:51:45,320 --> 00:51:47,000 Speaker 4: one day. I can you know, like I could have 1063 00:51:47,719 --> 00:51:50,000 Speaker 4: you know, a fifteen you know year career and win 1064 00:51:50,040 --> 00:51:52,960 Speaker 4: a championship, be a starting guard, all these things. So 1065 00:51:53,680 --> 00:51:55,719 Speaker 4: you know, just like that, it was taken away from 1066 00:51:55,760 --> 00:51:58,960 Speaker 4: a standpoint of you know, the severity of the injury. 1067 00:51:59,160 --> 00:52:02,440 Speaker 4: You know, you're talking amputation, You're talking about do I 1068 00:52:02,480 --> 00:52:02,959 Speaker 4: got nerve? 1069 00:52:03,040 --> 00:52:05,920 Speaker 2: Damn? Is you talking about? You know, like am I 1070 00:52:06,040 --> 00:52:09,200 Speaker 2: gonna play basketball again? All these things? Like what you mean? 1071 00:52:09,440 --> 00:52:13,080 Speaker 4: I've been playing since I was That's all I know, right, 1072 00:52:13,640 --> 00:52:16,360 Speaker 4: no college degree? Right, what I'm falling back on? What 1073 00:52:16,480 --> 00:52:20,000 Speaker 4: else I'm gonna do? All the real world things start 1074 00:52:20,080 --> 00:52:22,719 Speaker 4: coming you see what I'm saying to my mental So 1075 00:52:23,440 --> 00:52:27,080 Speaker 4: now I'm looking I'm like all right, like you know, 1076 00:52:27,200 --> 00:52:29,640 Speaker 4: I got a long hil to climb, you know, like 1077 00:52:29,800 --> 00:52:32,600 Speaker 4: I can't. You got too probably a week or two 1078 00:52:32,719 --> 00:52:36,240 Speaker 4: before surgery, where I'm you know, feeling sorry for myself, 1079 00:52:36,600 --> 00:52:39,520 Speaker 4: why me, all this, all this stuff? And then after 1080 00:52:39,600 --> 00:52:41,520 Speaker 4: that it's like, all right, well, I just got to 1081 00:52:41,560 --> 00:52:43,239 Speaker 4: put the work in, you know, Like I don't know 1082 00:52:43,320 --> 00:52:45,360 Speaker 4: what kind of player I'm gonna be. I don't know 1083 00:52:45,480 --> 00:52:47,600 Speaker 4: if I'm gonna make it back in the league. I 1084 00:52:47,600 --> 00:52:50,160 Speaker 4: got a year on my contract at the time. I 1085 00:52:50,280 --> 00:52:52,800 Speaker 4: missed the whole year, my last year with the Clippers. 1086 00:52:52,960 --> 00:52:55,080 Speaker 4: It's my fourth year in the league. Shot out the 1087 00:52:55,160 --> 00:52:58,799 Speaker 4: whole season. Pretty much everybody writing you off. You done 1088 00:53:00,000 --> 00:53:02,080 Speaker 4: what I'm saying, like it's a rap. Yeah, they don't 1089 00:53:02,160 --> 00:53:05,600 Speaker 4: pick up the option. So I ended up going to 1090 00:53:05,680 --> 00:53:08,480 Speaker 4: Miami because I just need a fresh start. I don't 1091 00:53:08,520 --> 00:53:11,759 Speaker 4: play basketball the whole year. You know, I'm just now 1092 00:53:11,880 --> 00:53:15,480 Speaker 4: coming back. It was tough, man, because you just battling 1093 00:53:15,560 --> 00:53:19,880 Speaker 4: yourself every day like you're not you know, like you said, competition, 1094 00:53:20,480 --> 00:53:22,840 Speaker 4: like you get a rise. I'm going against him today. 1095 00:53:23,000 --> 00:53:25,000 Speaker 4: I'm about to go. You don't get none of that. 1096 00:53:25,239 --> 00:53:28,560 Speaker 4: It's you against you. You're going to physical therapy. I'm 1097 00:53:28,600 --> 00:53:30,719 Speaker 4: going six days a week. I got to learn how 1098 00:53:30,760 --> 00:53:32,680 Speaker 4: to walk again. I got to learn how to I'm 1099 00:53:32,760 --> 00:53:35,160 Speaker 4: already skinny. You know, I lost all the muscle I 1100 00:53:35,239 --> 00:53:38,239 Speaker 4: had in my leg. You know, I'm looking like, damn. 1101 00:53:38,200 --> 00:53:40,680 Speaker 2: When you first got the injury, when you first looked, 1102 00:53:40,719 --> 00:53:41,640 Speaker 2: like what did you think? 1103 00:53:42,000 --> 00:53:45,160 Speaker 4: First off, I had been injured before I dislocated my 1104 00:53:45,239 --> 00:53:48,520 Speaker 4: other knee. So I'm thinking like I'm gonna be all right, 1105 00:53:49,160 --> 00:53:51,440 Speaker 4: you know, like I'm gonna be cool. I've been injured before. 1106 00:53:51,719 --> 00:53:55,440 Speaker 4: Like I'm not thinking the severity of it, Like everything 1107 00:53:55,560 --> 00:53:58,279 Speaker 4: I did to it, it was, you know, like a 1108 00:53:58,440 --> 00:54:01,320 Speaker 4: car accident, like it was real trauma. You know, my 1109 00:54:01,480 --> 00:54:04,840 Speaker 4: leg all this, you know, bobulated and you know, disfigured. 1110 00:54:05,520 --> 00:54:10,319 Speaker 4: So again once the doctors actually told me, and it's 1111 00:54:10,400 --> 00:54:14,200 Speaker 4: really like you know, sinking in that. You know, we 1112 00:54:14,360 --> 00:54:16,680 Speaker 4: never dealt with the injury like this. We don't know 1113 00:54:16,960 --> 00:54:19,960 Speaker 4: what your timetable is gonna be. We don't know what 1114 00:54:20,160 --> 00:54:21,800 Speaker 4: kind of you know, how long it's going to be. 1115 00:54:21,880 --> 00:54:24,160 Speaker 4: It could be eight months, it could be two years, 1116 00:54:24,280 --> 00:54:26,879 Speaker 4: you know, Like I'm like, what you mean usually it's 1117 00:54:26,920 --> 00:54:29,400 Speaker 4: four to six, right, Like that's that's what you hear, 1118 00:54:29,560 --> 00:54:33,399 Speaker 4: Like six day, you know what I'm saying, Like that's 1119 00:54:33,440 --> 00:54:35,479 Speaker 4: what I'm trying to grasp on, and they not giving 1120 00:54:35,560 --> 00:54:37,359 Speaker 4: me that, And that's that's the hard part. 1121 00:54:37,400 --> 00:54:38,160 Speaker 2: When you in the dark. 1122 00:54:38,280 --> 00:54:40,719 Speaker 4: Now, all the doubt and all the mental you know, 1123 00:54:40,760 --> 00:54:43,680 Speaker 4: all the depression, all all that starts sinking in if 1124 00:54:43,760 --> 00:54:47,440 Speaker 4: you let it, you know. So it's like keeping that 1125 00:54:47,719 --> 00:54:50,440 Speaker 4: energy around me. I had good people around me, and 1126 00:54:50,560 --> 00:54:53,880 Speaker 4: my brother Arthur Jones, you know, he moved out with 1127 00:54:54,000 --> 00:54:59,000 Speaker 4: me to La like every day like just man sitting 1128 00:54:59,080 --> 00:55:01,840 Speaker 4: down reading the Bible, like just you know, just just 1129 00:55:01,960 --> 00:55:04,520 Speaker 4: pouring good energy into me, keeping me up beat, keeping 1130 00:55:04,560 --> 00:55:08,200 Speaker 4: me optimistic, so I can actually believe that I can 1131 00:55:08,280 --> 00:55:10,680 Speaker 4: come back. That's where it's starting the mind. Telling a 1132 00:55:10,719 --> 00:55:13,239 Speaker 4: lot of guys like it's starting the mind. You gotta 1133 00:55:13,320 --> 00:55:16,640 Speaker 4: believe it, you know. And I'm not a guru or anything, 1134 00:55:16,800 --> 00:55:20,120 Speaker 4: but just like again, going through it once you're able 1135 00:55:20,200 --> 00:55:23,320 Speaker 4: to like get past some of those friction points. I 1136 00:55:23,320 --> 00:55:25,080 Speaker 4: remember the first time I rode the bike for the 1137 00:55:25,160 --> 00:55:28,160 Speaker 4: first time, I got tears running down my minds because again, 1138 00:55:28,239 --> 00:55:32,080 Speaker 4: the emotional journey that you're carrying trying to get over 1139 00:55:32,160 --> 00:55:35,839 Speaker 4: the hump. I ain't gonna I don't 1307 01:03:22,160 --> 01:03:25,960 Speaker 4: want them you what I'm said, but to be you know, 1308 01:03:26,280 --> 01:03:30,000 Speaker 4: humbled at that level for me, again, the mindset shift 1309 01:03:30,120 --> 01:03:32,400 Speaker 4: you not him, no more so. I gotta really, like 1310 01:03:32,680 --> 01:03:34,840 Speaker 4: you know, put myself in a category to where it's 1311 01:03:34,880 --> 01:03:37,640 Speaker 4: like like, na, whatever I gotta do to play, that's 1312 01:03:37,680 --> 01:03:38,240 Speaker 4: what I'm gonna do. 1313 01:03:39,000 --> 01:03:40,440 Speaker 2: And that's what it was. 1314 01:03:40,600 --> 01:03:42,520 Speaker 3: Tell me this, like you said, after all those years 1315 01:03:42,560 --> 01:03:46,520 Speaker 3: and the long journey, like you played career high seventy 1316 01:03:46,600 --> 01:03:49,160 Speaker 3: six games that season, you had the third most minutes 1317 01:03:49,200 --> 01:03:52,440 Speaker 3: on the team, Like like fuck everybody else and what 1318 01:03:52,880 --> 01:03:55,800 Speaker 3: they like for you and your own man, how rewarding 1319 01:03:56,280 --> 01:03:59,560 Speaker 3: was that for you personally, Like, because nobody else went 1320 01:03:59,640 --> 01:04:02,960 Speaker 3: through it like you, everybody could make opinions and be like, hey, 1321 01:04:03,000 --> 01:04:05,040 Speaker 3: you did a good job. You probably like how proud 1322 01:04:05,040 --> 01:04:07,040 Speaker 3: of yourself were you for getting to that point and 1323 01:04:07,120 --> 01:04:07,680 Speaker 3: achieving that? 1324 01:04:08,040 --> 01:04:08,600 Speaker 2: Absolutely? 1325 01:04:08,800 --> 01:04:13,040 Speaker 4: No, I was, like I deserved it, you know, regardless 1326 01:04:13,160 --> 01:04:15,240 Speaker 4: of what the outcome is like I you know, like 1327 01:04:15,360 --> 01:04:18,680 Speaker 4: I deserve this, you know, like I always pride it. Again, 1328 01:04:18,960 --> 01:04:20,840 Speaker 4: I play to win. I played for the team. I 1329 01:04:20,920 --> 01:04:24,360 Speaker 4: want team success. But individually for me, it was like 1330 01:04:24,800 --> 01:04:28,040 Speaker 4: that was another milestone that was something to wear again, 1331 01:04:28,200 --> 01:04:32,440 Speaker 4: like I went in, I earned the respectue know what 1332 01:04:32,440 --> 01:04:35,480 Speaker 4: I'm saying, and to lead, you know, like I earned it. 1333 01:04:35,920 --> 01:04:38,840 Speaker 4: This wasn't given to me, like I own no handouts, 1334 01:04:39,240 --> 01:04:42,800 Speaker 4: you know nothing. So for me again that that's rewarding 1335 01:04:42,960 --> 01:04:46,440 Speaker 4: in itself, regardless of any you know, rewards or you know, 1336 01:04:46,600 --> 01:04:50,040 Speaker 4: any articles of what media say, Like I know, the 1337 01:04:50,160 --> 01:04:52,160 Speaker 4: work that I put in to get here, to get 1338 01:04:52,200 --> 01:04:55,160 Speaker 4: to this point, and so that can't never be taken away, 1339 01:04:55,480 --> 01:04:56,120 Speaker 4: you see what I'm saying. 1340 01:04:56,200 --> 01:04:58,640 Speaker 2: So that was special for me. And then to do 1341 01:04:58,760 --> 01:04:59,479 Speaker 2: it with the team. 1342 01:05:00,000 --> 01:05:01,760 Speaker 4: You know, it was some hall of famers on the team, 1343 01:05:01,920 --> 01:05:05,400 Speaker 4: like you know, you got ticket, you got Paul like 1344 01:05:06,480 --> 01:05:09,600 Speaker 4: d Wells, Joe Johnson like you know, these mad guys. 1345 01:05:09,800 --> 01:05:13,000 Speaker 4: But again the journey that I went through, they respected 1346 01:05:13,040 --> 01:05:15,440 Speaker 4: it cause you know, it ain't like I ain't got 1347 01:05:15,520 --> 01:05:17,720 Speaker 4: to talk about it like I showed you you know, 1348 01:05:17,880 --> 01:05:21,800 Speaker 4: and you're seeing it. So that again it is rewarding 1349 01:05:21,880 --> 01:05:22,360 Speaker 4: in that way. 1350 01:05:23,160 --> 01:05:26,080 Speaker 1: After that season, for Golden State to offer you a 1351 01:05:26,160 --> 01:05:30,160 Speaker 1: three year deal, how did that feel to finally get 1352 01:05:30,280 --> 01:05:33,200 Speaker 1: where you like, all right, I got a deal. I 1353 01:05:33,320 --> 01:05:34,920 Speaker 1: know I'm fing to be here for the next three 1354 01:05:34,960 --> 01:05:36,600 Speaker 1: year unless they traded, but I know I'm gonna be 1355 01:05:36,680 --> 01:05:37,280 Speaker 1: in the league. 1356 01:05:37,480 --> 01:05:39,919 Speaker 2: Yeah, you know what I'm saying. That was like max 1357 01:05:40,040 --> 01:05:45,160 Speaker 2: money to me straight up to go to the Bay 1358 01:05:45,400 --> 01:05:48,320 Speaker 2: and get that deal like that was yeah, that was it. 1359 01:05:48,480 --> 01:05:51,400 Speaker 4: Yeah, and they playoff team they right there? Yeah cusp, 1360 01:05:51,720 --> 01:05:54,800 Speaker 4: they just lost to the Clippers seven games. Yeah, you 1361 01:05:54,960 --> 01:05:58,440 Speaker 4: got the splash. Bros really like making their name like 1362 01:05:58,600 --> 01:06:02,040 Speaker 4: they coming Mark Jack and already and made the declaration 1363 01:06:02,200 --> 01:06:04,360 Speaker 4: the best shooters are all time. You know. 1364 01:06:04,560 --> 01:06:08,280 Speaker 2: It's like, okay, so now people paying attention. I just 1365 01:06:08,440 --> 01:06:08,880 Speaker 2: again that. 1366 01:06:11,240 --> 01:06:14,360 Speaker 4: Played seventy six games. I wanted to play a full season. 1367 01:06:14,880 --> 01:06:17,080 Speaker 4: That for me, I wanted to get to the playoffs, 1368 01:06:17,560 --> 01:06:20,040 Speaker 4: and then I wanted to win a championship. Those were 1369 01:06:20,080 --> 01:06:24,080 Speaker 4: the steps for me. Like individually, All Star, I wasn't 1370 01:06:24,200 --> 01:06:25,720 Speaker 4: you know, like all the wards all that. 1371 01:06:25,920 --> 01:06:26,080 Speaker 2: It was. 1372 01:06:26,200 --> 01:06:29,280 Speaker 4: It was more about like playing being out there on 1373 01:06:29,400 --> 01:06:31,720 Speaker 4: the court doing what I love to do. Then playing 1374 01:06:31,720 --> 01:06:33,840 Speaker 4: at a high level, you know, in the playoff basketball, 1375 01:06:33,880 --> 01:06:37,840 Speaker 4: that's different basketball. You know, I'm playing all these sorry 1376 01:06:37,920 --> 01:06:41,320 Speaker 4: teams to get to the Brooklyn you know, and then 1377 01:06:41,360 --> 01:06:43,720 Speaker 4: to go to Golden State where okay, this is a 1378 01:06:43,800 --> 01:06:47,480 Speaker 4: playoff roster, like they expected to do something. I like that, 1379 01:06:47,880 --> 01:06:49,600 Speaker 4: you know, like I'm like, okay, I get to be 1380 01:06:49,680 --> 01:06:51,960 Speaker 4: in the playoffs and really show people because that's where 1381 01:06:51,960 --> 01:06:53,720 Speaker 4: you can really see who is who in the playoffs, 1382 01:06:54,080 --> 01:06:56,000 Speaker 4: you know, like with the team, like with the players, 1383 01:06:56,520 --> 01:06:58,560 Speaker 4: and so we didn't think we was gonna win a 1384 01:06:58,640 --> 01:07:02,960 Speaker 4: championship our first year, but the expectation of being Okay, 1385 01:07:03,040 --> 01:07:05,560 Speaker 4: now I'm on a competitive team, like it matter now, 1386 01:07:05,640 --> 01:07:09,000 Speaker 4: people watching these games matter, We on TV all this. 1387 01:07:09,720 --> 01:07:11,840 Speaker 2: You know, that's where I wanted to be. You signed 1388 01:07:11,920 --> 01:07:14,080 Speaker 2: that deal, but you had to have surgery. Did that 1389 01:07:14,200 --> 01:07:17,160 Speaker 2: surgery scare you? Yeah? I had to have that surgery. 1390 01:07:17,200 --> 01:07:17,400 Speaker 3: Yeah. 1391 01:07:17,600 --> 01:07:20,760 Speaker 2: I still made the home opener and play. Absolutely. I 1392 01:07:20,760 --> 01:07:22,840 Speaker 2: don't know that I got anything you went through, and 1393 01:07:22,920 --> 01:07:24,240 Speaker 2: it's like, damn, I gotta get this. 1394 01:07:24,480 --> 01:07:26,560 Speaker 4: You should have seen the physical that I did just 1395 01:07:26,640 --> 01:07:29,920 Speaker 4: to get the deal done. Though I was stressing because 1396 01:07:30,440 --> 01:07:32,840 Speaker 4: you know, I played on a broken toe whatever in 1397 01:07:32,920 --> 01:07:35,120 Speaker 4: the playoffs. You know, you do what you gotta do, 1398 01:07:35,960 --> 01:07:38,520 Speaker 4: but to you know, you got to take the physical 1399 01:07:38,720 --> 01:07:40,880 Speaker 4: in order to get the contract. You know, the team 1400 01:07:40,880 --> 01:07:43,280 Speaker 4: will tell you. The trainers. Boy, I was like, I 1401 01:07:43,480 --> 01:07:46,080 Speaker 4: was in there shaking, trying to you know, pass the physical. 1402 01:07:46,360 --> 01:07:50,040 Speaker 4: They got me doing lunges and my toe and I'm like, 1403 01:07:50,200 --> 01:07:52,960 Speaker 4: cause I'm thinking, I'm like, damn, I'm finna fail the 1404 01:07:53,040 --> 01:07:56,040 Speaker 4: physical not get this deal. They don't not have a 1405 01:07:56,200 --> 01:07:58,840 Speaker 4: chance to play with the you know, competitive team. Now 1406 01:07:58,840 --> 01:08:00,360 Speaker 4: I'm gonna have to figure it out to be the 1407 01:08:00,480 --> 01:08:04,360 Speaker 4: journey man. So in my mind again just coming from 1408 01:08:04,400 --> 01:08:06,760 Speaker 4: where I'm coming from, this is another pinnacle. This is 1409 01:08:06,800 --> 01:08:10,000 Speaker 4: another step, another hurdle where I'm trying to climb over. 1410 01:08:10,480 --> 01:08:13,640 Speaker 4: After all I just did in that season, Yeah, through 1411 01:08:13,680 --> 01:08:16,280 Speaker 4: the playoffs and everything showed you that I can play 1412 01:08:16,320 --> 01:08:18,840 Speaker 4: at this level. And now I don't know if I'm 1413 01:08:18,880 --> 01:08:20,120 Speaker 4: a pass this damn physical. 1414 01:08:21,800 --> 01:08:27,320 Speaker 2: But I need this money. Yeah, man, I understand that. 1415 01:08:27,439 --> 01:08:29,800 Speaker 1: Man, You're going there because man, so much stuff you 1416 01:08:29,840 --> 01:08:32,280 Speaker 1: got to prove at the injury because you in that box. 1417 01:08:33,600 --> 01:08:34,719 Speaker 2: And I had to take my deal. 1418 01:08:35,040 --> 01:08:38,760 Speaker 4: Every deal I'm taking at the time is last year, 1419 01:08:38,920 --> 01:08:41,960 Speaker 4: non guaranteed because of the that we want to say, 1420 01:08:42,120 --> 01:08:44,960 Speaker 4: is healthy? See can he play all these games? So 1421 01:08:45,439 --> 01:08:48,560 Speaker 4: ain't no player options for me? They can't even negotiate that. 1422 01:08:48,680 --> 01:08:51,280 Speaker 4: I'm with a good agent and everything. But that was 1423 01:08:51,360 --> 01:08:53,120 Speaker 4: just kind of the situation I was in. I was 1424 01:08:53,160 --> 01:08:54,560 Speaker 4: the box, like you said, I was put in. 1425 01:08:54,800 --> 01:08:57,600 Speaker 1: When did you realize the group that you with was 1426 01:08:57,680 --> 01:09:01,559 Speaker 1: a special group once you got to go man out 1427 01:09:01,640 --> 01:09:02,000 Speaker 1: the gate. 1428 01:09:02,560 --> 01:09:04,760 Speaker 4: I made the home opener. I sat out pretty much 1429 01:09:04,800 --> 01:09:08,799 Speaker 4: the whole preseason. Made the opener. I'm starting off slow, 1430 01:09:09,080 --> 01:09:11,880 Speaker 4: and I'm coming off the bench. I was starting in Brooklyn. 1431 01:09:12,080 --> 01:09:14,720 Speaker 4: I'm kind of, you know, a little salty, like you know, 1432 01:09:14,800 --> 01:09:18,519 Speaker 4: I'm playing maybe twelve minutes, eleven minutes, like you know, 1433 01:09:18,640 --> 01:09:22,080 Speaker 4: this feeling like the old thing like where I'm I'm like, man, 1434 01:09:22,520 --> 01:09:24,240 Speaker 4: you know, like I ain't used to this. I need 1435 01:09:24,320 --> 01:09:27,519 Speaker 4: to be playing more. But I start out slow, but 1436 01:09:27,680 --> 01:09:31,280 Speaker 4: the team is winning. We get to November, they run 1437 01:09:31,360 --> 01:09:36,080 Speaker 4: off probably twelve games in a row. I'm like, wait 1438 01:09:36,120 --> 01:09:38,240 Speaker 4: a minute, this ain't normal. You know in the league, 1439 01:09:38,280 --> 01:09:40,800 Speaker 4: you might win, you know, two games, lose a game, 1440 01:09:40,960 --> 01:09:43,720 Speaker 4: lose two games, run off three or four games. But 1441 01:09:43,840 --> 01:09:46,240 Speaker 4: they ran off like twelve games in a row. Like, man, 1442 01:09:46,320 --> 01:09:48,840 Speaker 4: this is you know, like they running through teams too, 1443 01:09:49,040 --> 01:09:52,200 Speaker 4: you know, twenty beating them by twenty. I'm like, this 1444 01:09:52,320 --> 01:09:54,800 Speaker 4: is you know, like this tag, Yeah, they run, you know. 1445 01:09:54,960 --> 01:09:58,040 Speaker 4: And so they've been together too. That five is starting five, 1446 01:09:58,160 --> 01:10:01,040 Speaker 4: like they've been together. They insert Draymond to the starting lineup, 1447 01:10:01,439 --> 01:10:03,639 Speaker 4: you know, team just start taking off. So I'm like, man, 1448 01:10:04,280 --> 01:10:07,439 Speaker 4: we get into December, I'm looking, I'm like, I've never 1449 01:10:07,520 --> 01:10:10,800 Speaker 4: really been on a twelve game winning streak. I played 1450 01:10:10,920 --> 01:10:13,400 Speaker 4: ten years. I've never been on this type of winning 1451 01:10:13,439 --> 01:10:15,760 Speaker 4: street before. Like this is different, you know what I'm saying. 1452 01:10:15,840 --> 01:10:19,280 Speaker 4: So I think once we got to December, seeing how 1453 01:10:19,360 --> 01:10:21,720 Speaker 4: we was playing. We number one in the West, you 1454 01:10:21,800 --> 01:10:23,720 Speaker 4: know the rankers. I've never been on the team that 1455 01:10:24,200 --> 01:10:26,040 Speaker 4: won in the West. You see what I'm saying. All 1456 01:10:26,120 --> 01:10:28,080 Speaker 4: this is new to me because you know, the teams 1457 01:10:28,080 --> 01:10:30,879 Speaker 4: I've been on, we weren't that good. Even the Clippers, 1458 01:10:30,920 --> 01:10:33,640 Speaker 4: we was middle of the pack. So that to me 1459 01:10:33,760 --> 01:10:36,800 Speaker 4: where I was like, okay, like this it's definitely something 1460 01:10:36,800 --> 01:10:40,400 Speaker 4: special here. Watching how Stephen Clay got hot, watching them 1461 01:10:40,479 --> 01:10:43,280 Speaker 4: put teams away, you know, damn there in the third quarter. 1462 01:10:43,720 --> 01:10:46,560 Speaker 4: You know, I'm like, this is an elite team, you know, 1463 01:10:46,760 --> 01:10:50,000 Speaker 4: like they're not good. They elite, Like we one of 1464 01:10:50,040 --> 01:10:53,200 Speaker 4: the best teams in the NBA. So just off of 1465 01:10:53,280 --> 01:10:55,800 Speaker 4: that alone, we got a chance to win this, you know, 1466 01:10:56,080 --> 01:10:56,400 Speaker 4: Like so. 1467 01:10:56,439 --> 01:10:59,439 Speaker 2: It made you change your mindset on what you had 1468 01:10:59,479 --> 01:11:00,280 Speaker 2: to bring there you go. 1469 01:11:01,040 --> 01:11:04,920 Speaker 4: So now I'm like, okay again Steph Clay, like watching 1470 01:11:04,960 --> 01:11:07,559 Speaker 4: them what they doing, you know, watching what Steph is doing. 1471 01:11:07,960 --> 01:11:11,640 Speaker 4: He in the MVP conversations, he running off thirties, you know, 1472 01:11:11,840 --> 01:11:14,439 Speaker 4: like he one of those guys you know, like he 1473 01:11:14,960 --> 01:11:17,360 Speaker 4: So I'm like, all right, you know, like I need 1474 01:11:17,439 --> 01:11:19,280 Speaker 4: to be a star in my role, you know what 1475 01:11:19,280 --> 01:11:21,200 Speaker 4: I'm saying, Like I need to bring what am I 1476 01:11:21,320 --> 01:11:22,320 Speaker 4: gonna bring to the table? 1477 01:11:22,840 --> 01:11:23,679 Speaker 2: You know that's different. 1478 01:11:24,040 --> 01:11:26,640 Speaker 4: Okay, every time them guys went to the bench last year, 1479 01:11:26,680 --> 01:11:29,320 Speaker 4: and I knew that from playing in Brooklyn the year before, 1480 01:11:29,880 --> 01:11:31,920 Speaker 4: the team kind of give up the lead, you see 1481 01:11:32,000 --> 01:11:33,880 Speaker 4: what I'm saying, Like they have increased the lead and 1482 01:11:33,960 --> 01:11:36,400 Speaker 4: then put the bench in, they kind of get a 1483 01:11:36,439 --> 01:11:39,360 Speaker 4: little back. You know, you got to put them in early. 1484 01:11:39,560 --> 01:11:42,879 Speaker 4: They can't rest as long. Okay, we need to extend 1485 01:11:42,960 --> 01:11:45,920 Speaker 4: that or hold the line at least. And so that's 1486 01:11:46,000 --> 01:11:48,800 Speaker 4: kind of that was our notion, Like no felas like 1487 01:11:49,280 --> 01:11:51,160 Speaker 4: we're gonna hold the line. At least we're gonna you know, 1488 01:11:51,320 --> 01:11:53,800 Speaker 4: this ain't when team's gonna get the one up on us. Like, 1489 01:11:54,000 --> 01:11:56,120 Speaker 4: let's make sure that we do our job. This is 1490 01:11:56,160 --> 01:11:59,080 Speaker 4: our job, right They going to the bench, all right, boom, 1491 01:11:59,400 --> 01:12:01,160 Speaker 4: We're gonna come and we're gonna play the right way. 1492 01:12:01,439 --> 01:12:03,759 Speaker 4: We're gonna make sure we do all the little things, 1493 01:12:04,000 --> 01:12:06,920 Speaker 4: like defensively, we're gonna box out, you know, we're gonna 1494 01:12:06,960 --> 01:12:09,479 Speaker 4: get these loose balls, all the things that win games. 1495 01:12:09,800 --> 01:12:11,800 Speaker 4: We're gonna do the things in the margins, you know 1496 01:12:11,800 --> 01:12:13,280 Speaker 4: what I'm saying, Like we might not be able to 1497 01:12:13,320 --> 01:12:16,240 Speaker 4: get thirty you know, like every night like these guys, 1498 01:12:16,400 --> 01:12:18,760 Speaker 4: but we're gonna bring something to the team to where 1499 01:12:19,240 --> 01:12:21,519 Speaker 4: like we're gonna be stars in our role. And I 1500 01:12:21,640 --> 01:12:24,960 Speaker 4: think from that standpoint too, when you start having that mentality, 1501 01:12:25,400 --> 01:12:28,160 Speaker 4: like you said earlier, Q, it's hard when you don't 1502 01:12:28,160 --> 01:12:30,080 Speaker 4: have that mentality and you got guys coming off the 1503 01:12:30,120 --> 01:12:32,400 Speaker 4: bench like man, I should be playing, I should be 1504 01:12:32,479 --> 01:12:34,720 Speaker 4: doing this that that can mess up the chemistry of 1505 01:12:34,800 --> 01:12:37,120 Speaker 4: the team. But when you got guys that actually buy in, 1506 01:12:37,280 --> 01:12:40,080 Speaker 4: and it ain't easy, especially when you're young, because that's 1507 01:12:40,120 --> 01:12:42,200 Speaker 4: what you want to I'm trying to prove myself, and 1508 01:12:42,320 --> 01:12:44,040 Speaker 4: that's what you know, you try to tell coaches like 1509 01:12:44,560 --> 01:12:47,439 Speaker 4: these guys trying to establish theyselves and prove theyselves and. 1510 01:12:47,800 --> 01:12:49,599 Speaker 2: You know they got dreams to do things. So it's 1511 01:12:49,680 --> 01:12:50,960 Speaker 2: hard to just buy into that. 1512 01:12:51,560 --> 01:12:54,559 Speaker 4: But having a veteran I've been in the league ten years, 1513 01:12:54,800 --> 01:12:57,240 Speaker 4: look at where I came from. You know, you had 1514 01:12:57,800 --> 01:13:01,800 Speaker 4: Marie Speaks, you had bar Boat you know like that yeah, 1515 01:13:02,000 --> 01:13:04,400 Speaker 4: b b like he had been injured, you know what 1516 01:13:04,400 --> 01:13:06,920 Speaker 4: I'm saying. So like now we're on a team where 1517 01:13:06,920 --> 01:13:08,880 Speaker 4: we can win the championship, and this is what we 1518 01:13:08,960 --> 01:13:11,479 Speaker 4: gotta do in order to do that, which could extend 1519 01:13:11,560 --> 01:13:15,439 Speaker 4: our careers to everybody East, be like you know, we 1520 01:13:15,560 --> 01:13:18,280 Speaker 4: win everybody East. So that was when it was like, 1521 01:13:18,320 --> 01:13:20,200 Speaker 4: all right, you know we got a chance to do 1522 01:13:20,320 --> 01:13:21,000 Speaker 4: something special. 1523 01:13:21,760 --> 01:13:24,920 Speaker 1: I wasn't like you and iglea dollar, you know, to 1524 01:13:25,120 --> 01:13:29,840 Speaker 1: Illinois guys, y'all basically the core of that bench that's 1525 01:13:29,880 --> 01:13:33,519 Speaker 1: coming out, how did y'all bond kind of how y'all 1526 01:13:33,560 --> 01:13:36,559 Speaker 1: get closer and you know y'all bonded to even get 1527 01:13:36,640 --> 01:13:39,400 Speaker 1: that bench to a level the world was because you know, 1528 01:13:40,080 --> 01:13:44,519 Speaker 1: once you retired like dollars, became this ultimate veteran. Yeah, 1529 01:13:44,600 --> 01:13:45,920 Speaker 1: off the bench. 1530 01:13:46,040 --> 01:13:49,439 Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah. It wasn't like that in the beginning because 1531 01:13:49,479 --> 01:13:53,559 Speaker 2: he didn't want to know. No, he was not going 1532 01:13:53,680 --> 01:13:53,880 Speaker 2: for that. 1533 01:13:54,280 --> 01:13:57,000 Speaker 4: And you know it's it took time, and that's why 1534 01:13:57,040 --> 01:14:00,400 Speaker 4: I said. I think he came around after he saw 1535 01:14:00,600 --> 01:14:05,040 Speaker 4: how the team was taken off two with the buy in, 1536 01:14:05,479 --> 01:14:07,560 Speaker 4: you see what I'm saying. So it was easier for 1537 01:14:07,640 --> 01:14:10,839 Speaker 4: me because I came what I went through in Brooklyn. 1538 01:14:11,320 --> 01:14:13,479 Speaker 4: You know, I came off the bench, and then I 1539 01:14:13,640 --> 01:14:17,160 Speaker 4: was starting when Deve Will got hurt. So you know, again, 1540 01:14:17,240 --> 01:14:19,800 Speaker 4: it was easier for me to buy in being where 1541 01:14:19,840 --> 01:14:23,479 Speaker 4: I was at. He had started every single game for 1542 01:14:23,680 --> 01:14:26,439 Speaker 4: ten straight years in his career and that was the 1543 01:14:26,479 --> 01:14:28,760 Speaker 4: first time he was coming off the bench, and so 1544 01:14:29,000 --> 01:14:32,519 Speaker 4: for him it was more like, damn, man, you about 1545 01:14:32,520 --> 01:14:34,519 Speaker 4: to ruin my career. You see what I'm saying, Like 1546 01:14:34,600 --> 01:14:37,040 Speaker 4: they finna messed my career up. Like I'm about to 1547 01:14:37,040 --> 01:14:39,560 Speaker 4: get out of here. Like that was the mindset, you 1548 01:14:39,600 --> 01:14:42,400 Speaker 4: see what I'm saying. And we was winning though we 1549 01:14:42,560 --> 01:14:45,840 Speaker 4: was winning, that was the thing. So over time he 1550 01:14:46,240 --> 01:14:48,719 Speaker 4: kind of came around, but it took a long time 1551 01:14:48,840 --> 01:14:53,160 Speaker 4: for him, especially because he was still elite, you know, 1552 01:14:53,320 --> 01:14:53,920 Speaker 4: in his role. 1553 01:14:54,080 --> 01:14:54,960 Speaker 2: He was still a starter. 1554 01:14:55,640 --> 01:14:58,200 Speaker 4: And then you know it came to fruition in the 1555 01:14:58,280 --> 01:15:02,960 Speaker 4: playoffs and in the finals especially, his reward came during 1556 01:15:03,040 --> 01:15:07,160 Speaker 4: that time. I felt like me and Barbosa most spakes, 1557 01:15:07,640 --> 01:15:09,280 Speaker 4: you know, we was brought in because that was kind 1558 01:15:09,280 --> 01:15:11,000 Speaker 4: of the role that we was brought in for, you 1559 01:15:11,080 --> 01:15:13,519 Speaker 4: know what I'm saying, and where he was brought into, 1560 01:15:14,160 --> 01:15:16,719 Speaker 4: you know, kind of start, even though they had Harrison Barnes. 1561 01:15:17,200 --> 01:15:19,799 Speaker 4: You know, it was like Dre was a starter period 1562 01:15:20,000 --> 01:15:20,200 Speaker 4: like that. 1563 01:15:20,439 --> 01:15:21,200 Speaker 2: That was his role. 1564 01:15:21,320 --> 01:15:23,080 Speaker 4: So it took a little bit longer for him. But 1565 01:15:23,160 --> 01:15:25,720 Speaker 4: once he did buy in, then it was like, all right, 1566 01:15:25,720 --> 01:15:28,719 Speaker 4: you got two vets and we you know, we locked 1567 01:15:28,760 --> 01:15:32,200 Speaker 4: in just from being from Illinois, y'all. We played at hoops. 1568 01:15:32,360 --> 01:15:34,479 Speaker 4: You know, like he know me, he know what I'm about. 1569 01:15:35,160 --> 01:15:37,880 Speaker 4: So it was easy and it was just once it 1570 01:15:38,000 --> 01:15:40,280 Speaker 4: was no ego like that, it was you know, it 1571 01:15:40,400 --> 01:15:40,840 Speaker 4: was easy. 1572 01:15:41,560 --> 01:15:47,000 Speaker 1: So when you finally won won a championship, FEddi coming down, 1573 01:15:47,640 --> 01:15:51,000 Speaker 1: y'all want it? The journey you done went through? Yeah yeah, 1574 01:15:51,360 --> 01:15:55,559 Speaker 1: and you get rewarded with a champ Now you ain't 1575 01:15:55,600 --> 01:15:58,360 Speaker 1: in no box you labeled a champion. When they mentioned 1576 01:15:58,360 --> 01:16:00,840 Speaker 1: Sean lives the name, they got to say champion either 1577 01:16:00,920 --> 01:16:03,720 Speaker 1: before or after your name. 1578 01:16:03,920 --> 01:16:05,479 Speaker 2: Right, How did that feel? Man? 1579 01:16:05,520 --> 01:16:08,240 Speaker 4: It's just like I knew I was a winner, you know, 1580 01:16:08,439 --> 01:16:11,360 Speaker 4: like I knew I wanted every single stage I played on. 1581 01:16:12,040 --> 01:16:16,040 Speaker 4: That's how I felt, like, you know, man, again, I 1582 01:16:16,200 --> 01:16:19,240 Speaker 4: deserved it all that I went through. I didn't cry. 1583 01:16:19,479 --> 01:16:22,000 Speaker 4: I was just smiling the whole time, like you know 1584 01:16:22,040 --> 01:16:25,479 Speaker 4: what I'm saying, Like I was just happy, like the joy. 1585 01:16:25,640 --> 01:16:28,280 Speaker 4: That's probably the word I would put it was just 1586 01:16:28,320 --> 01:16:31,120 Speaker 4: a lot of joy because you know, it was just 1587 01:16:31,200 --> 01:16:33,080 Speaker 4: a lot of sleepless nights, a lot of nights where 1588 01:16:33,080 --> 01:16:35,320 Speaker 4: you just you don't know, all the doubt, all the 1589 01:16:35,400 --> 01:16:38,880 Speaker 4: self doubt. But to get on the stage. I remember, like, damn, 1590 01:16:39,000 --> 01:16:41,720 Speaker 4: we were on the stage, right, you know had them. 1591 01:16:41,760 --> 01:16:44,519 Speaker 4: So you started seeing Bill Russell like walking up like damn, 1592 01:16:45,160 --> 01:16:48,439 Speaker 4: like and too if you know, in the playoffs, you 1593 01:16:48,680 --> 01:16:52,559 Speaker 4: so locked in. Like they was sorry like 1630 01:18:34,880 --> 01:18:37,200 Speaker 4: that for a long time. So when they had a 1631 01:18:37,280 --> 01:18:42,240 Speaker 4: little bit of success, you know, they really celebrate. Now 1632 01:18:42,600 --> 01:18:46,280 Speaker 4: we got forty in the stands now, it's really cracking 1633 01:18:46,360 --> 01:18:49,400 Speaker 4: people coming to the games and you know, really celebrating us. 1634 01:18:49,439 --> 01:18:52,600 Speaker 4: So when we won, just to have that love, it 1635 01:18:52,760 --> 01:18:56,240 Speaker 4: was different. And like you said, I'm quiet, so I'm like, damn, 1636 01:18:56,360 --> 01:18:59,760 Speaker 4: this is you know, yeah, it's real. I was for 1637 01:19:01,080 --> 01:19:04,720 Speaker 4: it was special through Oakland too, and Oakland like to me, 1638 01:19:04,840 --> 01:19:06,880 Speaker 4: it's a lot of love in Oakland because they always 1639 01:19:06,920 --> 01:19:09,880 Speaker 4: get the bad rap, know, like just to do it 1640 01:19:10,040 --> 01:19:11,960 Speaker 4: for that, you know what they call the town there. 1641 01:19:12,439 --> 01:19:15,040 Speaker 4: You know, the love that you get is genuine. It's real, 1642 01:19:15,200 --> 01:19:19,679 Speaker 4: genuine fans there been there going to games fifty plus years. 1643 01:19:19,840 --> 01:19:22,840 Speaker 4: You know season ticket holders, and then you know, having 1644 01:19:22,920 --> 01:19:26,120 Speaker 4: my family were riding through the buses, riding through. When 1645 01:19:26,160 --> 01:19:28,439 Speaker 4: I seen the amount of people that was at the parade, 1646 01:19:29,280 --> 01:19:31,280 Speaker 4: I was like, damn, I ain't never seen as many 1647 01:19:31,320 --> 01:19:33,519 Speaker 4: people before. But then also too, it brought me back 1648 01:19:33,520 --> 01:19:37,880 Speaker 4: to a kid watching Mike, watching MJ watching them Grand 1649 01:19:37,960 --> 01:19:41,280 Speaker 4: Park celebration. I'm like, damn, this's really us up here. 1650 01:19:41,439 --> 01:19:44,639 Speaker 4: Like you know, like that was that was a special moment. 1651 01:19:44,760 --> 01:19:47,040 Speaker 2: Going into the next season. Did y'all think that y'all 1652 01:19:47,080 --> 01:19:51,880 Speaker 2: can back to back? It? Absolutely? It just felt like 1653 01:19:51,960 --> 01:19:52,519 Speaker 2: everything that. 1654 01:19:54,200 --> 01:19:57,839 Speaker 4: That confidence that you got from that was unlike anything 1655 01:19:58,120 --> 01:20:02,960 Speaker 4: because watching stuff prepare watching him the jump that he 1656 01:20:03,160 --> 01:20:08,360 Speaker 4: made mentally, the human nature component is to let down 1657 01:20:08,479 --> 01:20:10,960 Speaker 4: your guard. You know what I'm saying, Like we didn't 1658 01:20:10,960 --> 01:20:12,400 Speaker 4: see a lot of that. We didn't see a lot 1659 01:20:12,439 --> 01:20:15,240 Speaker 4: of champs come back the next year and they you know, 1660 01:20:15,320 --> 01:20:19,639 Speaker 4: they still hung over, They still yeah, summer with a beast, 1661 01:20:19,840 --> 01:20:23,840 Speaker 4: like we enjoy this watching thirty the way that he 1662 01:20:24,000 --> 01:20:27,400 Speaker 4: came back that year. And then you know, go through 1663 01:20:27,479 --> 01:20:31,600 Speaker 4: training camp, but you know that first game, especially his 1664 01:20:31,840 --> 01:20:36,120 Speaker 4: mindset of like pushing the envelope and really being the leader. 1665 01:20:36,200 --> 01:20:38,280 Speaker 4: He quiet too, so he don't do the rob rod 1666 01:20:38,640 --> 01:20:41,639 Speaker 4: but it was like his game and his sense of urgency, 1667 01:20:42,160 --> 01:20:44,040 Speaker 4: you know, like he wanted to take it up a notch. 1668 01:20:44,400 --> 01:20:46,360 Speaker 4: We followed that lead, you know what I'm saying, Like 1669 01:20:46,439 --> 01:20:48,960 Speaker 4: we did, we followed that lead, and it was all 1670 01:20:49,080 --> 01:20:49,679 Speaker 4: in his game. 1671 01:20:49,840 --> 01:20:51,519 Speaker 2: The way that he was playing, the way that he 1672 01:20:51,680 --> 01:20:53,600 Speaker 2: was shooting, the way that he like the type of 1673 01:20:53,680 --> 01:20:56,800 Speaker 2: daggers that he was like he wanted to you know 1674 01:20:56,840 --> 01:20:57,320 Speaker 2: what I'm. 1675 01:20:57,120 --> 01:20:59,960 Speaker 3: Saying, Like that was that was like his I'm trying 1676 01:21:00,040 --> 01:21:02,080 Speaker 3: to tell people for years like he ain't as nice 1677 01:21:02,120 --> 01:21:02,639 Speaker 3: as everybody. 1678 01:21:02,720 --> 01:21:05,240 Speaker 2: God damn thing, Like I'm talking about he one of 1679 01:21:05,280 --> 01:21:07,080 Speaker 2: the best people. But like when he get on that court, 1680 01:21:07,240 --> 01:21:08,320 Speaker 2: like please. 1681 01:21:08,080 --> 01:21:11,240 Speaker 4: I'm talking about the way the way that he played, 1682 01:21:11,280 --> 01:21:13,640 Speaker 4: the way that he wanted you know, like score and 1683 01:21:14,120 --> 01:21:17,160 Speaker 4: like certain things like he really you know, he had 1684 01:21:17,320 --> 01:21:20,320 Speaker 4: that and that was something that I didn't know about 1685 01:21:20,439 --> 01:21:22,960 Speaker 4: him when I got to Golden State, like you know, 1686 01:21:23,120 --> 01:21:24,760 Speaker 4: like the type of shots that he had taken. The 1687 01:21:24,800 --> 01:21:27,280 Speaker 4: moment like damn, I thought we was gonna run something 1688 01:21:27,360 --> 01:21:29,559 Speaker 4: like he's finna come down though, like I'm finna pull 1689 01:21:29,760 --> 01:21:31,960 Speaker 4: like I'm about to, I'm about to put them away 1690 01:21:32,439 --> 01:21:35,920 Speaker 4: you know, and he came back with that his second year, 1691 01:21:36,120 --> 01:21:39,439 Speaker 4: and I think we all followed that momentum and it 1692 01:21:39,600 --> 01:21:41,479 Speaker 4: was just off to the races because we all had 1693 01:21:41,560 --> 01:21:44,439 Speaker 4: confidence from you know what we just came out of 1694 01:21:44,640 --> 01:21:47,600 Speaker 4: in the playoffs last year in the championship, like, you know, 1695 01:21:47,680 --> 01:21:48,840 Speaker 4: we battle tested. 1696 01:21:48,600 --> 01:21:49,679 Speaker 2: We went through some things. 1697 01:21:50,120 --> 01:21:53,360 Speaker 4: We just had that second year confidence of like, you know, 1698 01:21:53,520 --> 01:21:55,240 Speaker 4: we know we're supposed to win these games. 1699 01:21:55,840 --> 01:21:56,880 Speaker 2: And so that was the year. 1700 01:21:57,320 --> 01:21:59,960 Speaker 4: We won seventy three games, and honestly, we probably should 1701 01:22:00,160 --> 01:22:03,799 Speaker 4: only one about sixty because it was probably about thirteen 1702 01:22:03,880 --> 01:22:06,479 Speaker 4: games that we just won in the fourth quarter because 1703 01:22:06,520 --> 01:22:08,640 Speaker 4: we knew how to win, you know what I'm saying, like, 1704 01:22:08,760 --> 01:22:12,320 Speaker 4: and it was having a large everybody you know what 1705 01:22:12,360 --> 01:22:14,400 Speaker 4: I'm saying, and then getting to the fourth quarter. It 1706 01:22:14,520 --> 01:22:16,880 Speaker 4: was like certain teams with fold because they don't know, 1707 01:22:17,080 --> 01:22:18,880 Speaker 4: you know, how to run a set or who should 1708 01:22:18,920 --> 01:22:21,960 Speaker 4: get the shot. And we was just battle tested in 1709 01:22:22,080 --> 01:22:24,639 Speaker 4: that way to where we all knew what we had 1710 01:22:24,680 --> 01:22:27,519 Speaker 4: to do and the type of moments in the game 1711 01:22:27,600 --> 01:22:29,080 Speaker 4: where it was like, all right, we got to get 1712 01:22:29,120 --> 01:22:31,439 Speaker 4: a stop this time, you know, and we was in 1713 01:22:31,560 --> 01:22:33,320 Speaker 4: sync with it. We ain't really had to do too 1714 01:22:33,400 --> 01:22:36,040 Speaker 4: much talking. It was just kind of like five guys 1715 01:22:36,120 --> 01:22:37,519 Speaker 4: on a stream that was out there. 1716 01:22:38,080 --> 01:22:40,519 Speaker 1: So now what's the mindset? Like, oh shit, this ship 1717 01:22:41,640 --> 01:22:43,519 Speaker 1: it's getting crazy for a minute, Like I. 1718 01:22:43,640 --> 01:22:47,160 Speaker 4: Just got one, Like, right, well, we lost the next year, 1719 01:22:47,600 --> 01:22:50,040 Speaker 4: so we want we lost the clip that was the 1720 01:22:50,120 --> 01:22:52,200 Speaker 4: year of twenty sixteen. We lost to bron and them 1721 01:22:52,760 --> 01:22:56,640 Speaker 4: and then they lost lost lost the year, so that 1722 01:22:57,120 --> 01:22:58,960 Speaker 4: that was the year. That was the year we lost, 1723 01:22:59,280 --> 01:23:02,840 Speaker 4: And so tell me about Yeah, that was exactly. That 1724 01:23:03,000 --> 01:23:05,760 Speaker 4: was hard because then you go from all summer you 1725 01:23:05,960 --> 01:23:09,040 Speaker 4: outside to next summer you don't want to go outside, 1726 01:23:09,360 --> 01:23:11,840 Speaker 4: if you know, Like we just gave up a three 1727 01:23:11,880 --> 01:23:15,479 Speaker 4: one lead. We to butter every joke and the hardest 1728 01:23:15,560 --> 01:23:19,120 Speaker 4: part of that they the champs, but we felt like 1729 01:23:19,240 --> 01:23:21,840 Speaker 4: we was the better team. Right, I'd rather lose by 1730 01:23:21,960 --> 01:23:24,160 Speaker 4: thirty than lose on the last second shot, you know 1731 01:23:24,200 --> 01:23:26,719 Speaker 4: what I'm saying? In Game seven, like those the hardest 1732 01:23:27,360 --> 01:23:30,640 Speaker 4: games and series to lose. We lost that year ended 1733 01:23:30,720 --> 01:23:33,600 Speaker 4: up Katie ended up coming that summer in that. 1734 01:23:33,720 --> 01:23:39,080 Speaker 2: Loss, Like what did you think happened that y'all dropped 1735 01:23:39,080 --> 01:23:39,800 Speaker 2: three in a row? 1736 01:23:40,600 --> 01:23:44,160 Speaker 4: A mix of a lot of things, the momentum, you know, 1737 01:23:45,280 --> 01:23:48,080 Speaker 4: and then Draymond got suspended, you know, and then again 1738 01:23:48,400 --> 01:23:51,960 Speaker 4: the momentum shifted to where it was almost like instead 1739 01:23:51,960 --> 01:23:53,960 Speaker 4: of playing to win, we was playing not to lose, 1740 01:23:54,439 --> 01:23:56,680 Speaker 4: you see what I'm saying. And that you came that 1741 01:23:56,920 --> 01:23:59,559 Speaker 4: you did, Dad, you gotta go take it. Ain't nobody 1742 01:23:59,600 --> 01:24:01,160 Speaker 4: gonna get you know, not going to give it to you. 1743 01:24:01,280 --> 01:24:05,639 Speaker 4: And and they just Kyrie and of course you know Lebron. 1744 01:24:05,720 --> 01:24:08,880 Speaker 4: But like those three games that they had that was 1745 01:24:09,160 --> 01:24:11,680 Speaker 4: that and Kobe, you know what I'm saying, like they 1746 01:24:11,840 --> 01:24:16,559 Speaker 4: really really really that's in their name and history because 1747 01:24:16,640 --> 01:24:19,559 Speaker 4: of that series. You know, Clay still to this day 1748 01:24:19,880 --> 01:24:23,240 Speaker 4: say it like he didn't want to switch with he 1749 01:24:23,240 --> 01:24:25,880 Speaker 4: didn't want to switch. That was another one. But with Kyrie, 1750 01:24:26,000 --> 01:24:30,560 Speaker 4: with what he did Game five, Game seven, like you know, 1751 01:24:30,760 --> 01:24:35,120 Speaker 4: Clay was a knockdown. If you remember during that time, 1752 01:24:35,240 --> 01:24:37,400 Speaker 4: two ways, like Clay was the name you would hear 1753 01:24:37,720 --> 01:24:40,360 Speaker 4: be the best two way guard, two guard in the league. 1754 01:24:40,680 --> 01:24:44,200 Speaker 4: But them, dudes, man, Kyrie was on a different level. 1755 01:24:44,400 --> 01:24:46,760 Speaker 4: Like the shots he was hitting, you know, them was 1756 01:24:46,840 --> 01:24:49,840 Speaker 4: Kobe type shots, like you know, shot making, you know 1757 01:24:49,920 --> 01:24:53,600 Speaker 4: what I'm saying, shot making. You know, I'm getting to 1758 01:24:53,720 --> 01:24:54,920 Speaker 4: my spot and it don't matter. 1759 01:24:55,000 --> 01:24:59,880 Speaker 3: I'm shooting for him to get the moment exactly every 1760 01:25:00,040 --> 01:25:02,799 Speaker 3: why you like expecting this about to beat Broun or whatever, 1761 01:25:02,840 --> 01:25:05,320 Speaker 3: and for him to get like not on the kickout, 1762 01:25:05,400 --> 01:25:07,439 Speaker 3: like nah, this is Joe show, you got the ball, 1763 01:25:07,600 --> 01:25:08,680 Speaker 3: get the fuck out the way. 1764 01:25:09,320 --> 01:25:11,360 Speaker 2: This is what he does. And he did it. 1765 01:25:11,479 --> 01:25:14,080 Speaker 4: And what's cold is I play with Kyrie and Cleveland 1766 01:25:14,120 --> 01:25:16,679 Speaker 4: and so I've seen him do it before. I've seen 1767 01:25:16,760 --> 01:25:18,600 Speaker 4: him hit game winners. You know what I'm saying. The 1768 01:25:18,680 --> 01:25:21,360 Speaker 4: one two has even off the right like you know 1769 01:25:21,360 --> 01:25:23,400 Speaker 4: what I'm saying, like step to the right like that, 1770 01:25:23,600 --> 01:25:26,519 Speaker 4: you know, right in the pocket. So I know he 1771 01:25:26,640 --> 01:25:29,000 Speaker 4: got that in him. It's that clutch, like he got 1772 01:25:29,080 --> 01:25:32,040 Speaker 4: that he wanted to like, you know, not only is 1773 01:25:32,040 --> 01:25:33,880 Speaker 4: it gonna make it, he gonna take it. And so 1774 01:25:34,680 --> 01:25:38,479 Speaker 4: it was hard watching that knowing that overall we felt 1775 01:25:38,520 --> 01:25:41,280 Speaker 4: like we was the better team, but in the moment, 1776 01:25:41,640 --> 01:25:44,479 Speaker 4: like they took those games from us and they beat us, 1777 01:25:45,040 --> 01:25:47,400 Speaker 4: and so you know that was you know, you got 1778 01:25:47,479 --> 01:25:48,720 Speaker 4: to give him their credit where it's due. 1779 01:25:48,880 --> 01:25:51,960 Speaker 1: So losing the championship and you know, you down down summer, 1780 01:25:52,400 --> 01:25:56,160 Speaker 1: all of a sudden you hear Kevin Durant, it's coming 1781 01:25:56,240 --> 01:25:57,519 Speaker 1: to Golden State won. 1782 01:25:58,680 --> 01:26:03,080 Speaker 2: Like, yeah, we wanted. They changed the mood from what 1783 01:26:03,240 --> 01:26:04,360 Speaker 2: we just were just having. 1784 01:26:04,479 --> 01:26:04,680 Speaker 3: It was. 1785 01:26:05,040 --> 01:26:07,120 Speaker 2: It was shot. It was the shock. 1786 01:26:07,360 --> 01:26:09,120 Speaker 4: It was like I'm sitting getting the cut, I'm in 1787 01:26:09,160 --> 01:26:12,840 Speaker 4: the barber seat and I remember, you know, just seeing 1788 01:26:12,880 --> 01:26:16,439 Speaker 4: on my phone like damn, like Katie to the Warriors 1789 01:26:17,360 --> 01:26:20,200 Speaker 4: show the barber, you know, and he like it was 1790 01:26:20,320 --> 01:26:23,840 Speaker 4: just shock, like man, this man really finn of come 1791 01:26:24,000 --> 01:26:26,160 Speaker 4: like who we you know, I'm thinking like who did 1792 01:26:26,200 --> 01:26:28,519 Speaker 4: I get traded? Like I'm mom on the team still, 1793 01:26:28,680 --> 01:26:31,479 Speaker 4: like you know, but yeah, it was a shock and 1794 01:26:31,560 --> 01:26:34,000 Speaker 4: it really hit home when he got in training camp. 1795 01:26:34,400 --> 01:26:35,400 Speaker 2: Bro walked through the door. 1796 01:26:35,479 --> 01:26:38,519 Speaker 4: Because I play again throughout all my stops, I played 1797 01:26:38,560 --> 01:26:40,200 Speaker 4: with a lot of these guys. I was in OK, 1798 01:26:40,400 --> 01:26:45,400 Speaker 4: see James Russell, Kevin Durant this day. First two years, 1799 01:26:45,439 --> 01:26:48,840 Speaker 4: they young guys, but by this time it's Katie right. 1800 01:26:49,400 --> 01:26:51,800 Speaker 4: I remember watching him warm up, watching him go through 1801 01:26:51,880 --> 01:26:55,360 Speaker 4: his workout for the first time. I was just sitting 1802 01:26:55,400 --> 01:26:58,720 Speaker 4: there just like like a fan, you know what I'm saying, 1803 01:26:58,800 --> 01:27:00,639 Speaker 4: like you know, like we are do you want a chip? 1804 01:27:00,720 --> 01:27:02,880 Speaker 4: By this time, like we we feel like we made men. 1805 01:27:02,960 --> 01:27:05,360 Speaker 4: But we watching as a fan, like this dude seven 1806 01:27:05,439 --> 01:27:07,880 Speaker 4: foot out here. What he doing his work? His work, 1807 01:27:07,920 --> 01:27:10,400 Speaker 4: I think like watching him, you know, get to his spots, 1808 01:27:10,400 --> 01:27:13,120 Speaker 4: shooting trades. HEAs he's all the you know the one 1809 01:27:13,200 --> 01:27:15,040 Speaker 4: two's like footwork, the footwork. 1810 01:27:15,200 --> 01:27:16,160 Speaker 2: It's like, damn. 1811 01:27:17,439 --> 01:27:19,559 Speaker 4: Real, seven foot. I mean, he's sexy, six y nine, 1812 01:27:19,600 --> 01:27:22,519 Speaker 4: but foota. You know what I'm saying out here, all 1813 01:27:22,600 --> 01:27:25,000 Speaker 4: the guard work, guard work, you know what I'm saying 1814 01:27:25,320 --> 01:27:27,560 Speaker 4: with this, with that, with that gun, you know. 1815 01:27:28,200 --> 01:27:28,960 Speaker 2: And it was just like. 1816 01:27:30,800 --> 01:27:32,920 Speaker 4: He about to be on our team with what we got, 1817 01:27:34,439 --> 01:27:37,599 Speaker 4: like oh yeah, like let's I can't wait to get 1818 01:27:37,640 --> 01:27:39,920 Speaker 4: to the season, Like it's it's gonna be fun. 1819 01:27:40,280 --> 01:27:41,120 Speaker 2: It's gonna be fun. 1820 01:27:41,320 --> 01:27:43,280 Speaker 4: And it was because it changed the mood during it 1821 01:27:43,760 --> 01:27:45,600 Speaker 4: changed the move because we still it was me Dre 1822 01:27:45,800 --> 01:27:49,479 Speaker 4: still in the second team. So you know, obviously it 1823 01:27:49,760 --> 01:27:51,920 Speaker 4: just made us. It took us to a different level 1824 01:27:52,000 --> 01:27:55,080 Speaker 4: because we already had the culture in place. The culture 1825 01:27:55,200 --> 01:27:58,559 Speaker 4: was in place with Steph Clay, Dre Right, and then 1826 01:27:58,600 --> 01:28:01,920 Speaker 4: you had me and andre As the right go out. 1827 01:28:02,000 --> 01:28:04,519 Speaker 4: You get David West, bring in another vet. You know 1828 01:28:04,600 --> 01:28:06,240 Speaker 4: what I'm saying. He new to the team, but he 1829 01:28:06,320 --> 01:28:10,000 Speaker 4: a made man the West shoutout d West like you know, 1830 01:28:10,160 --> 01:28:13,560 Speaker 4: so now you got you know, a solid foundation, and 1831 01:28:13,640 --> 01:28:16,840 Speaker 4: then you just bring this killer to you know what 1832 01:28:16,840 --> 01:28:19,160 Speaker 4: I'm saying, You bring a unicorn to what we have. 1833 01:28:20,160 --> 01:28:23,080 Speaker 4: It was just telepathy, you know what I'm saying. Like 1834 01:28:23,200 --> 01:28:26,400 Speaker 4: we all just moving, It's like string music, you know 1835 01:28:26,439 --> 01:28:28,360 Speaker 4: what I'm saying. But then you got him in the 1836 01:28:28,479 --> 01:28:31,760 Speaker 4: fourth to like we just out here watching him like 1837 01:28:32,439 --> 01:28:33,880 Speaker 4: just get this man to rock, Like. 1838 01:28:34,680 --> 01:28:37,200 Speaker 1: Yeah, how did you look at Steph? Because I know 1839 01:28:37,240 --> 01:28:40,080 Speaker 1: you had a higher level of respect for Steph. But 1840 01:28:41,800 --> 01:28:45,240 Speaker 1: for Steph to have KD come in and I don't 1841 01:28:45,240 --> 01:28:49,439 Speaker 1: want to say take a step back, but understood, like yeah, 1842 01:28:50,240 --> 01:28:52,400 Speaker 1: KD might need to be the first option. I need 1843 01:28:52,479 --> 01:28:55,560 Speaker 1: to be second option and let's just roll like that. 1844 01:28:55,960 --> 01:28:58,240 Speaker 1: How did you look at Steph after You've seen him 1845 01:28:58,320 --> 01:29:02,639 Speaker 1: with no problem KD with open arms and was cool 1846 01:29:02,720 --> 01:29:05,760 Speaker 1: with him taking the most shots and doing all that. 1847 01:29:06,040 --> 01:29:07,960 Speaker 4: It was hard for Steph because it was an adjustment. 1848 01:29:08,080 --> 01:29:11,280 Speaker 4: He didn't make the adjustment until Christmas game and I 1849 01:29:11,280 --> 01:29:13,519 Speaker 4: remember we I think we lost to the Cavs that game. 1850 01:29:14,040 --> 01:29:18,560 Speaker 4: Kyrie again, last second shots. You know, Steph, that's the 1851 01:29:18,680 --> 01:29:21,160 Speaker 4: part where you say he's such a nice guy because 1852 01:29:21,520 --> 01:29:25,040 Speaker 4: he is the most humble superstar I ever been around. 1853 01:29:25,439 --> 01:29:28,400 Speaker 4: We didn't been around superstars, and the blueprint of what 1854 01:29:28,520 --> 01:29:30,800 Speaker 4: you've seen was Mike, where it's like, get out the 1855 01:29:30,880 --> 01:29:33,280 Speaker 4: way if you don't want to win my way, right, 1856 01:29:33,560 --> 01:29:36,200 Speaker 4: And you know you had to take that, And so 1857 01:29:36,720 --> 01:29:39,640 Speaker 4: everybody coming after Mike felt like you had to be 1858 01:29:39,880 --> 01:29:42,680 Speaker 4: a certain type of you know what I'm saying. Personality 1859 01:29:42,800 --> 01:29:45,320 Speaker 4: code was that way in a way, right, like it 1860 01:29:45,439 --> 01:29:48,240 Speaker 4: was the asshole type of personality. Steph wasn't that way. 1861 01:29:48,400 --> 01:29:51,880 Speaker 4: Steph was who he was all the way through. But 1862 01:29:52,000 --> 01:29:55,200 Speaker 4: he still had that competitive killer instinct on the court. 1863 01:29:55,800 --> 01:29:59,840 Speaker 4: But he's quiet, good dude, well spoken, right, come from 1864 01:29:59,880 --> 01:30:03,320 Speaker 4: a good background, all the things where it was just different. 1865 01:30:03,640 --> 01:30:07,080 Speaker 4: And he allowed you to be comfortable on the court 1866 01:30:07,160 --> 01:30:09,600 Speaker 4: with him even though he was a superstar. And you 1867 01:30:09,720 --> 01:30:11,360 Speaker 4: didn't get that a lot, you know if you're playing 1868 01:30:11,400 --> 01:30:13,519 Speaker 4: with superstars, because that bar got a little bit more 1869 01:30:13,560 --> 01:30:15,000 Speaker 4: weight on it when he passed it to you, you 1870 01:30:15,040 --> 01:30:18,200 Speaker 4: know what I'm saying. But you know, Steph allowed you 1871 01:30:18,479 --> 01:30:21,680 Speaker 4: to still be yourself. He still wanted you to be 1872 01:30:21,760 --> 01:30:23,680 Speaker 4: a set. He never got on guys. He was never 1873 01:30:23,840 --> 01:30:26,479 Speaker 4: yelling at guys. That wasn't his type of energy. And 1874 01:30:26,640 --> 01:30:29,080 Speaker 4: so when KD got there, the fact that he went 1875 01:30:29,160 --> 01:30:31,600 Speaker 4: to go recruit, you know, like not recruit, but just 1876 01:30:31,680 --> 01:30:34,840 Speaker 4: talk to him, you know, and hey, man, like we 1877 01:30:34,920 --> 01:30:38,200 Speaker 4: got a chance to do something special. Most superstars like 1878 01:30:38,360 --> 01:30:40,840 Speaker 4: a team, you know, GM, you go do that right 1879 01:30:41,000 --> 01:30:42,880 Speaker 4: like you you know, I put a call in, but 1880 01:30:42,920 --> 01:30:46,200 Speaker 4: I'm not finna pull up Like that's the humility that 1881 01:30:46,320 --> 01:30:49,280 Speaker 4: Steph has. And that's the you know, his character, what 1882 01:30:49,439 --> 01:30:52,280 Speaker 4: goes into his character, like you know, I'll take a 1883 01:30:52,360 --> 01:30:54,479 Speaker 4: step back if this is for the best of the team. 1884 01:30:54,800 --> 01:30:56,360 Speaker 2: You don't see that with superstars. 1885 01:30:56,439 --> 01:30:59,000 Speaker 4: It's my narrative, you know what I'm saying, I'm gonna 1886 01:30:59,000 --> 01:31:01,519 Speaker 4: control it the way because that's what my talent dictate. 1887 01:31:02,120 --> 01:31:04,479 Speaker 4: He did it differently, so he took a step back 1888 01:31:04,640 --> 01:31:07,200 Speaker 4: and had to make the biggest adjustment. And I think 1889 01:31:07,280 --> 01:31:10,120 Speaker 4: that's what Katie was looking at, like, you know, is 1890 01:31:10,160 --> 01:31:13,000 Speaker 4: Steph going to take that step back? I never seen 1891 01:31:13,040 --> 01:31:17,240 Speaker 4: anybody score so efficiently as Katie thirty on like twelve 1892 01:31:17,320 --> 01:31:18,280 Speaker 4: shots shots? 1893 01:31:18,479 --> 01:31:19,479 Speaker 2: How right? 1894 01:31:20,000 --> 01:31:22,080 Speaker 4: You know what I'm saying, Like how and so like 1895 01:31:22,360 --> 01:31:24,720 Speaker 4: when he came, it wasn't really an adjustment for him 1896 01:31:24,760 --> 01:31:27,920 Speaker 4: because he could get his in the flow like no 1897 01:31:28,040 --> 01:31:31,120 Speaker 4: one else I've ever seen Steph. His was a little 1898 01:31:31,120 --> 01:31:33,760 Speaker 4: bit more value, right, like he needed a little bit 1899 01:31:33,800 --> 01:31:36,080 Speaker 4: more rhythm. And then after that Christmas game, I think 1900 01:31:36,120 --> 01:31:40,200 Speaker 4: you know there was internal conversation amongst them two what 1901 01:31:40,400 --> 01:31:43,360 Speaker 4: it had to be, right, like, look, I need you 1902 01:31:43,479 --> 01:31:47,000 Speaker 4: to be Steph Curry. And then on once Steph was like, 1903 01:31:47,000 --> 01:31:49,559 Speaker 4: all right, you know, Katie good, He's good with us. 1904 01:31:49,960 --> 01:31:50,840 Speaker 4: You know, like he's here. 1905 01:31:51,600 --> 01:31:54,160 Speaker 2: You know that's I think that's when we really it 1906 01:31:54,320 --> 01:31:55,800 Speaker 2: was like unstoppable from them. 1907 01:31:56,040 --> 01:31:57,840 Speaker 1: You grew up in Illinois, so I know you were 1908 01:31:57,960 --> 01:32:03,080 Speaker 1: big Bulls fans. You watched Mike win six championships. They 1909 01:32:03,160 --> 01:32:06,000 Speaker 1: say the team with you and k D is one 1910 01:32:06,040 --> 01:32:07,240 Speaker 1: of the best teams ever. 1911 01:32:08,080 --> 01:32:12,639 Speaker 2: Debatable if you match them Bulls team, that Bulls team 1912 01:32:12,720 --> 01:32:18,160 Speaker 2: that you've seen wins championship there with it. You can tell. 1913 01:32:19,560 --> 01:32:21,840 Speaker 1: That Bulls team that you've seen win three in a 1914 01:32:21,960 --> 01:32:25,599 Speaker 1: row to the team that you you play with with KD. 1915 01:32:27,000 --> 01:32:30,320 Speaker 4: What you think that matchup will look like? It's how 1916 01:32:30,400 --> 01:32:34,160 Speaker 4: can you really compare erarors? But like I'm I'm a 1917 01:32:34,280 --> 01:32:36,840 Speaker 4: Bulls fan. I grew up It's hard for me to 1918 01:32:36,920 --> 01:32:39,439 Speaker 4: ever put anybody over the bulls. I'm gonna just keep 1919 01:32:39,479 --> 01:32:42,080 Speaker 4: it a buck, you know, like I'm not for real, 1920 01:32:42,280 --> 01:32:45,000 Speaker 4: I'm gonna keep it a buck. Like it's like you know, 1921 01:32:45,240 --> 01:32:47,800 Speaker 4: like yeah, it's it's it's Mic over everything. But like 1922 01:32:49,160 --> 01:32:52,120 Speaker 4: our team, I will say this from a depth standpoint, 1923 01:32:52,320 --> 01:32:55,120 Speaker 4: and the amount of star power that you had on 1924 01:32:55,200 --> 01:32:59,360 Speaker 4: our team, you know, like throughout the especially throughout the 1925 01:32:59,439 --> 01:33:03,240 Speaker 4: course of of the game. Now nowadays with the way 1926 01:33:03,280 --> 01:33:06,320 Speaker 4: the three is being shot and you got three gun 1927 01:33:06,400 --> 01:33:10,840 Speaker 4: slingers out there, you know, like I'm talking about real snipers, 1928 01:33:11,840 --> 01:33:16,200 Speaker 4: real snipers like that you're not leaving, So that's the 1929 01:33:16,520 --> 01:33:21,000 Speaker 4: you know, like the amount of star power. Like obviously Mike, 1930 01:33:21,840 --> 01:33:24,280 Speaker 4: you know, the biggest star you know in my eyes, 1931 01:33:24,640 --> 01:33:27,240 Speaker 4: you know his will to win. But it's you can't 1932 01:33:27,280 --> 01:33:30,360 Speaker 4: compare errors for us, it's just being in the conversation 1933 01:33:30,720 --> 01:33:33,240 Speaker 4: or for me, I'm gonna speak for me being in 1934 01:33:33,360 --> 01:33:36,080 Speaker 4: the conversation, like you know, we did our job. 1935 01:33:36,800 --> 01:33:39,080 Speaker 3: Tell me this right, Like you talked about being a 1936 01:33:39,200 --> 01:33:42,479 Speaker 3: journeyman going from team to team after the LA situation, 1937 01:33:42,680 --> 01:33:44,880 Speaker 3: like did you And I've seen it and I was 1938 01:33:44,960 --> 01:33:48,960 Speaker 3: extremely stupid happy for you, Like did you ever think 1939 01:33:49,080 --> 01:33:51,400 Speaker 3: that you would be able to have a team where 1940 01:33:51,439 --> 01:33:55,160 Speaker 3: you got the fan base love like that and the 1941 01:33:55,240 --> 01:33:58,240 Speaker 3: respect in the city and like that's basically like as 1942 01:33:58,280 --> 01:34:00,960 Speaker 3: far as NBA teams go, that's home for you. Yeah, 1943 01:34:01,000 --> 01:34:02,320 Speaker 3: you know what I'm saying, You're gonna be more the 1944 01:34:02,439 --> 01:34:04,200 Speaker 3: last fevalue a championship favor. 1945 01:34:04,400 --> 01:34:07,280 Speaker 2: You ever think that you would get that at a point? 1946 01:34:07,600 --> 01:34:11,640 Speaker 4: No, I didn't. I'll just again for me. You know, 1947 01:34:11,760 --> 01:34:13,960 Speaker 4: can I play eighty two games? Can I play on 1948 01:34:14,040 --> 01:34:14,800 Speaker 4: the playoff team? 1949 01:34:15,000 --> 01:34:15,160 Speaker 3: You know? 1950 01:34:15,640 --> 01:34:17,479 Speaker 4: And then from there maybe we have a chance to 1951 01:34:17,560 --> 01:34:21,200 Speaker 4: win a championship. You know this Q you got man, 1952 01:34:21,280 --> 01:34:23,439 Speaker 4: you got so much talent that it came through the league. 1953 01:34:23,479 --> 01:34:26,599 Speaker 4: They ain't never sniffed the finals. Yeah, like how hard 1954 01:34:26,720 --> 01:34:28,920 Speaker 4: is it to make the finals? Like to win a 1955 01:34:29,040 --> 01:34:33,080 Speaker 4: championship alone? They take luck too, I will say that, 1956 01:34:33,400 --> 01:34:36,439 Speaker 4: like injuries, everything that goes into it. So I think 1957 01:34:36,520 --> 01:34:38,640 Speaker 4: once we won our first one, the shot and the 1958 01:34:38,760 --> 01:34:42,240 Speaker 4: surprise that came with that, we didn't expect to win it. 1959 01:34:42,360 --> 01:34:44,080 Speaker 4: When I first got there, we didn't know we were 1960 01:34:44,120 --> 01:34:46,280 Speaker 4: gonna win it. It was just like we might have 1961 01:34:46,400 --> 01:34:48,880 Speaker 4: a chance. But I think once we won it, it 1962 01:34:49,040 --> 01:34:52,280 Speaker 4: was like okay, like we can do it, Like, let's 1963 01:34:52,320 --> 01:34:55,280 Speaker 4: do it again if we can, Like we're young, young enough, 1964 01:34:55,439 --> 01:34:58,160 Speaker 4: guys in their prime, Like, let's go for it while 1965 01:34:58,160 --> 01:35:00,479 Speaker 4: we can. That's why we went for the seventy three games. 1966 01:35:01,160 --> 01:35:02,680 Speaker 4: When else are we going to have a shot to 1967 01:35:02,720 --> 01:35:05,200 Speaker 4: make history. Let's go for this, like, let's do it 1968 01:35:05,600 --> 01:35:08,000 Speaker 4: what we're waiting on, you know, even if it wasn't 1969 01:35:08,479 --> 01:35:11,120 Speaker 4: for the best outcome of probably the finals, but like 1970 01:35:11,960 --> 01:35:15,519 Speaker 4: going to the bay, being able to accomplish that, being 1971 01:35:15,600 --> 01:35:20,400 Speaker 4: able to be etched and stone and carve our names out, 1972 01:35:21,360 --> 01:35:22,559 Speaker 4: that's what we all. 1973 01:35:22,640 --> 01:35:23,439 Speaker 2: Aspire to do. 1974 01:35:23,920 --> 01:35:26,280 Speaker 4: And then I think what made it special is we 1975 01:35:26,520 --> 01:35:29,200 Speaker 4: was able to do it, you know, like put our 1976 01:35:29,320 --> 01:35:32,799 Speaker 4: own personal narratives in the back burner and say we're 1977 01:35:32,840 --> 01:35:35,680 Speaker 4: gonna do this as a team. Everybody's gonna eat. We 1978 01:35:35,760 --> 01:35:37,719 Speaker 4: got a chance to do something special as a team, 1979 01:35:38,320 --> 01:35:40,640 Speaker 4: Like we know who the star guys are. We know 1980 01:35:40,720 --> 01:35:43,439 Speaker 4: who the guys are, Like, you know, we ain't gotta 1981 01:35:43,560 --> 01:35:45,439 Speaker 4: argue with that. But like when you have that much 1982 01:35:45,600 --> 01:35:49,920 Speaker 4: buy in, especially with that much talent, that's where you 1983 01:35:50,040 --> 01:35:54,479 Speaker 4: start to see collectively special things being done. And then 1984 01:35:54,560 --> 01:35:57,679 Speaker 4: from there, you know, let everybody else argue and debate 1985 01:35:57,800 --> 01:35:59,639 Speaker 4: on you know, all the topics. 1986 01:36:00,080 --> 01:36:03,320 Speaker 3: Tell me this, bro, you got one of the cleanest, 1987 01:36:03,600 --> 01:36:05,519 Speaker 3: nastiest mid range games ever. 1988 01:36:05,720 --> 01:36:08,920 Speaker 2: Like that ain't what I used to remember. You know 1989 01:36:08,960 --> 01:36:12,559 Speaker 2: what I'm saying you would throw on you was getting 1990 01:36:12,600 --> 01:36:13,040 Speaker 2: to the bed. 1991 01:36:13,160 --> 01:36:16,080 Speaker 3: Like, so, do you feel like or correct me, I'm 1992 01:36:16,080 --> 01:36:18,320 Speaker 3: wrong that that happened over your journey when you was 1993 01:36:18,400 --> 01:36:20,920 Speaker 3: going through the injury. You trying to reinvent yourself and 1994 01:36:21,000 --> 01:36:23,519 Speaker 3: figure out how you're gonna be impactful and affect the game. 1995 01:36:23,680 --> 01:36:27,160 Speaker 3: Like when did you discover like, oh this this is it? 1996 01:36:27,240 --> 01:36:30,080 Speaker 3: Because it got to that point where we were like, god, damn. 1997 01:36:29,880 --> 01:36:32,439 Speaker 2: This boy deadly with that joint six seven? Say he 1998 01:36:32,640 --> 01:36:33,080 Speaker 2: raised up? 1999 01:36:33,160 --> 01:36:36,479 Speaker 4: Don't see him one? I mean Sam Coussel watching him. 2000 01:36:36,760 --> 01:36:40,599 Speaker 4: I say, starting there, young fella, Like you gotta start somewhere. 2001 01:36:40,920 --> 01:36:43,120 Speaker 4: Couldn't throw it in the ocean, Like all right, you 2002 01:36:43,240 --> 01:36:46,200 Speaker 4: gotta be a threat. They gonna ignore you and like 2003 01:36:46,439 --> 01:36:47,680 Speaker 4: you know, as soon as you get the ball, you 2004 01:36:47,920 --> 01:36:50,320 Speaker 4: act like you was gonna shoot you know much, and 2005 01:36:50,400 --> 01:36:52,479 Speaker 4: just turn around and start boxing out Like that's how 2006 01:36:52,520 --> 01:36:55,040 Speaker 4: they'll do you, Like, you know, take your confidence from you. 2007 01:36:55,520 --> 01:36:56,920 Speaker 2: You know that you don't even want to shoot. 2008 01:36:57,000 --> 01:37:00,800 Speaker 4: So like for me just being a threat, couldn't move 2009 01:37:00,840 --> 01:37:03,840 Speaker 4: the same way after my injury. Okay, how am I 2010 01:37:03,880 --> 01:37:05,040 Speaker 4: gonna get to my spots? 2011 01:37:05,360 --> 01:37:05,720 Speaker 2: All right? 2012 01:37:06,240 --> 01:37:09,240 Speaker 4: You know, pick and roll, they're going under, you know, okay, repick, 2013 01:37:09,400 --> 01:37:11,880 Speaker 4: get to the spot right, like certain things like that. 2014 01:37:12,720 --> 01:37:14,840 Speaker 4: Over the course of time, then it was it's just 2015 01:37:14,960 --> 01:37:17,720 Speaker 4: like anything. You was a shooter, you know, reps, repetition, 2016 01:37:18,240 --> 01:37:20,919 Speaker 4: now putting it up in the game, getting that confidence, 2017 01:37:21,000 --> 01:37:23,800 Speaker 4: getting the confidence, and then from there, you know, the 2018 01:37:23,880 --> 01:37:27,000 Speaker 4: better teams I played on and started to get more 2019 01:37:27,000 --> 01:37:31,080 Speaker 4: and more confidence with better players, better teams. When you go back to the season, 2128 01:43:15,640 --> 01:43:17,800 Speaker 1: your confidence and everything is ready to go. 2129 01:43:17,960 --> 01:43:19,320 Speaker 2: Because of who was already there. 2130 01:43:21,240 --> 01:43:23,320 Speaker 4: Are you playing against all the All Stars, d Wade 2131 01:43:23,400 --> 01:43:26,240 Speaker 4: coming back like everybody, you know. I think bron might 2132 01:43:26,320 --> 01:43:29,240 Speaker 4: have came back one time. But it was just, you know, 2133 01:43:29,360 --> 01:43:33,560 Speaker 4: outside of those guys, you had fifty NBA guys and 2134 01:43:33,760 --> 01:43:35,720 Speaker 4: that could be in the gym at any time. I 2135 01:43:35,840 --> 01:43:37,679 Speaker 4: know guys that rode the bench and I know guys 2136 01:43:37,760 --> 01:43:40,640 Speaker 4: I'm saying about real hoopers, real guys. That was you know, 2137 01:43:40,880 --> 01:43:46,000 Speaker 4: rotation starters, All stars, you know. Like so that that 2138 01:43:46,200 --> 01:43:48,439 Speaker 4: to me got you know, gave me my confidence. But 2139 01:43:48,640 --> 01:43:51,720 Speaker 4: just the vibing to be around that energy again, you 2140 01:43:51,800 --> 01:43:54,880 Speaker 4: couldn't run from nothing. And all the young guys coming 2141 01:43:54,960 --> 01:43:57,160 Speaker 4: up me, Tony Allen, all the you know two thousand 2142 01:43:57,200 --> 01:43:59,479 Speaker 4: and four guys, Andre will Bonner was in there. It 2143 01:43:59,640 --> 01:44:01,920 Speaker 4: was like we used to go at each other based 2144 01:44:01,960 --> 01:44:04,519 Speaker 4: off that energy, watching the old heads go off each other, 2145 01:44:04,640 --> 01:44:07,040 Speaker 4: so we only might get one or two possessions out 2146 01:44:07,080 --> 01:44:09,840 Speaker 4: of a seven game. So we had a man give 2147 01:44:09,880 --> 01:44:12,599 Speaker 4: me the ball, man, like you know, like I remember 2148 01:44:12,680 --> 01:44:14,920 Speaker 4: Tony Allen looking at me like, man, man, give me 2149 01:44:15,000 --> 01:44:17,560 Speaker 4: the rock, man, you know, and that just made me 2150 01:44:17,760 --> 01:44:19,960 Speaker 4: mad where I'm like, Okay, I want the rock because 2151 01:44:20,240 --> 01:44:22,800 Speaker 4: you ain't finished. Like that's just that type of energy 2152 01:44:23,160 --> 01:44:25,000 Speaker 4: that was special and you just you had to be 2153 01:44:25,160 --> 01:44:27,320 Speaker 4: in the gym to really feel it, and you might 2154 01:44:27,400 --> 01:44:29,679 Speaker 4: not get on the court if you a college guy. 2155 01:44:30,560 --> 01:44:34,000 Speaker 4: You know, like it was just that that level oversee 2156 01:44:34,040 --> 01:44:36,559 Speaker 4: you guys you got to set out guys to come 2157 01:44:36,800 --> 01:44:40,360 Speaker 4: with their shoes, be sitting on the side waiting, mad leader, 2158 01:44:40,520 --> 01:44:41,040 Speaker 4: you know, like. 2159 01:44:41,240 --> 01:44:45,600 Speaker 3: The courts going it's court. I think I already know 2160 01:44:45,680 --> 01:44:48,960 Speaker 3: the answer to this, but you know, we all come 2161 01:44:49,000 --> 01:44:53,439 Speaker 3: from home beginnings. When you first got some bread, right, 2162 01:44:53,960 --> 01:44:55,800 Speaker 3: I don't know if it was the baby blue joint 2163 01:44:55,840 --> 01:44:58,240 Speaker 3: we just formed, but what what what was the what 2164 01:44:58,479 --> 01:44:59,559 Speaker 3: was the purchase you made? 2165 01:44:59,720 --> 01:45:01,040 Speaker 2: Was it the hood. 2166 01:45:03,600 --> 01:45:05,719 Speaker 3: That's would make it hurt even worse? And I knew 2167 01:45:05,800 --> 01:45:08,479 Speaker 3: this when it happened, but that was just like like 2168 01:45:08,560 --> 01:45:10,680 Speaker 3: we always mad for him.
