Then you know, people 0:17:16.920 --> 0:17:19.439 who don't play along become risks, right the way that 0:17:19.520 --> 0:17:22.679 an open carry white guy in a Walmart is threatening 0:17:22.720 --> 0:17:25.440 to everybody else and that's where his quote unquote power 0:17:25.520 --> 0:17:28.480 comes from. It's the same thing with an anti masker, right, 0:17:28.520 --> 0:17:30.200 who gets on a plane and what we're a mask. 0:17:30.800 --> 0:17:36.840 That person derives quote unquote power from the threat they 0:17:37.000 --> 0:17:40.119 pose to everybody else. And so um, you know, in 0:17:40.160 --> 0:17:43.720 a way, people become vectors for an ideology, right, for 0:17:43.800 --> 0:17:48.920 this ideology of racial resentment. And I think, I think 0:17:48.960 --> 0:17:50.720 in a way that's where we're at, is that this 0:17:50.800 --> 0:17:54.280 pathogen really is the perfect storm. And it also of 0:17:54.320 --> 0:17:59.000 course enhances equity, structural racism, all these factors are all 0:17:59.080 --> 0:18:01.520 made worse by I mean, it's shining a light on 0:18:01.640 --> 0:18:05.280 us and it's also making things worse. Right. It 0:18:19.280 --> 0:18:23.200 told us that we're going to build public health infrastructure. 0:18:23.240 --> 0:18:25.200 We're going to keep people healthy, we're going to reduce 0:18:25.240 --> 0:18:29.280 the burden on ers. We're going to build community health 0:18:29.400 --> 0:18:33.480 centers and hospitals in rural underserved areas. So there was 0:18:33.520 --> 0:18:36.000 a whole blueprint, like it or not in the Affordable 0:18:36.080 --> 0:18:38.680 Care Act, and what the Affordable Character would have done 0:18:39.040 --> 0:18:42.760 that would have set us up so much better, so 0:18:42.880 --> 0:18:46.040 much better for this pandemic because we would have had 0:18:46.119 --> 0:18:50.880 not just health infrastructure, but prevent prevention public health infrastructure, 0:18:51.480 --> 0:18:57.000 and instead we kind of watched largely Republicans destroy this 0:18:57.080 --> 0:18:59.280 thing and chip away at it, and so not only 0:18:59.320 --> 0:19:00.600 did it not get to be what it was going 0:19:00.640 --> 0:19:04.040 to become, but it also made us so much more 0:19:04.160 --> 0:19:07.560 vulnerable for this moment. And so for me, I think, 0:19:07.840 --> 0:19:10.439 I don't I'm beyond trying to change anybody's mind, But 0:19:10.480 --> 0:19:14.439 how can we rebuild those kind of infrastructures that build, 0:19:14.800 --> 0:19:21.600 that build community health and prevention.
