Like if you murder 0:04:44.240 --> 0:04:47.359 a guy and then lead to another state, an arrest 0:04:47.360 --> 0:04:50.599 warrant will be issued that law enforcement in that state 0:04:50.720 --> 0:04:54.320 has to abide by. Right, because you murdered somebody, this 0:04:54.440 --> 0:04:56.840 is not a real crime. Most recently Texas Democratic 0:05:34.440 --> 0:05:37.680 lawmakers broke quorum in twenty twenty one. And I want 0:05:37.680 --> 0:05:40.880 to quote here from an article in ABC News, quote 0:05:40.920 --> 0:05:44.000 Texas state lawmakers left Brookquarman twenty twenty one when Democratic 0:05:44.000 --> 0:05:47.720 House representatives fled Texas to prevent measures restricting voting options. 0:05:47.880 --> 0:05:51.120 The measures eventually passed after internal democratic fissures led to 0:05:51.200 --> 0:05:55.560 enough representatives returning to form a quorum. And this is 0:05:55.600 --> 0:05:58.560 the kind of thing where Governor Abbott allowed the sergeant 0:05:58.600 --> 0:06:01.159 of Arms, or commanded this target of arms to arrest 0:06:01.160 --> 0:06:04.360 the members within Texas. Weirdly enough, a couple of them 0:06:04.400 --> 0:06:08.320 did return. The first was Philip Cortes, who like briefly 0:06:08.720 --> 0:06:11.600 came back to Austin to handle personal business and there 0:06:11.640 --> 0:06:13.880 was a civil arrest warrant signed, but then he fled 0:06:13.880 --> 0:06:17.280 the state again before he could be arrested. There were 0:06:17.440 --> 0:06:21.200 warrants signed for the fifty two remaining absent legislators, but 0:06:21.320 --> 0:06:25.760 law enforcement didn't arrest or detain anybody. Eventually, enough Democratic 0:06:25.839 --> 0:06:29.080 legislators came back into the state for like personal reasons. 0:06:29.120 --> 0:06:31.400 Some of them had like shit to handle, like in 0:06:31.440 --> 0:06:34.320 their own life. Some of them had other things they 0:06:34.360 --> 0:06:37.000 wanted to push through in terms of like legislature, and 0:06:37.240 --> 0:06:39.240 so they were like, I guess I'll come back and 0:06:39.360 --> 0:06:42.560 let this happen. And eventually the House reached quorum and 0:06:43.120 --> 0:06:46.119 this past Democrats did not face the five hundred dollars 0:06:46.160 --> 0:06:48.279 a day fine that they'd been threatened by the governor, 0:06:48.520 --> 0:06:52.320 and nobody was arrested. Now, I've been talking about Texas here, 0:06:52.400 --> 0:06:54.640 but this happens all over the place. In fact, when 0:06:54.640 --> 0:06:57.160 this story first broke, the immediate thing I thought back 0:06:57.200 --> 0:07:00.919 on was what happened very recently in the state of Oregon, 0:07:00.920 --> 0:07:03.039 and has happened a couple of times in the state 0:07:03.120 --> 0:07:03.679 of Oregon. 0:07:03.800 --> 0:07:05.599 You know mine too. They do this all the time, 0:07:05.800 --> 0:07:07.320 they do this a lot. 0:07:07.720 --> 0:07:12.480 But yes, this is a common thing in Oregon. As I stated, 0:08:43.800 --> 0:08:47.720 this is something that very rarely actually does anything. There's 0:08:47.880 --> 0:08:50.479 a twenty twenty one case in New Hampshire where Democrats 0:08:50.520 --> 0:08:53.800 walked out in protest of an anti abortion bill.
