I want to say he's the first Oakland rapper. 22 00:01:30,120 --> 00:01:32,279 Speaker 1: I want to say he's the first person because because 23 00:01:32,440 --> 00:01:35,080 Speaker 1: when I when when I heard out, I found out 24 00:01:35,120 --> 00:01:37,200 Speaker 1: that he was actually from South Central first, but we 25 00:01:37,280 --> 00:01:42,280 Speaker 1: wanna get it into that later. But the first person. 26 00:01:42,360 --> 00:01:48,280 Speaker 1: He's the guy who's single handedly made beat what's my 27 00:01:48,480 --> 00:01:51,720 Speaker 1: favorite word? I don't know why. Every time I say 28 00:01:52,240 --> 00:01:54,520 Speaker 1: I grabbed my collar, I don't know why. Like that, 29 00:01:54,680 --> 00:01:58,200 Speaker 1: This is how much it is. The HiFi movement, everything 30 00:01:58,560 --> 00:02:03,360 Speaker 1: derived from this guy. He's the first. He's the on 31 00:02:03,440 --> 00:02:06,840 Speaker 1: the East Coast, especially in New York. He's the first 32 00:02:06,840 --> 00:02:10,000 Speaker 1: person that we saluted as the first pimp and rat, 33 00:02:10,560 --> 00:02:14,160 Speaker 1: the first person that made people bow down, the first 34 00:02:14,240 --> 00:02:19,840 Speaker 1: person that made bitch cool. Actually, and he's a motherfucking 35 00:02:19,919 --> 00:02:22,240 Speaker 1: legend that every promote I ever speak to, I ever 36 00:02:22,320 --> 00:02:25,200 Speaker 1: talked to, they say Short is the easiest person to 37 00:02:25,280 --> 00:02:28,040 Speaker 1: work with because he's just coming in there. He's just 38 00:02:28,160 --> 00:02:31,160 Speaker 1: fitting pimp and let's make a noise working too short. 39 00:02:34,320 --> 00:02:36,720 Speaker 1: Too Short. First off, let me just thank you man 40 00:02:36,760 --> 00:02:38,799 Speaker 1: for being a part of this man. You know what 41 00:02:38,880 --> 00:02:41,840 Speaker 1: I mean. We only interview on Legends. That's what we're 42 00:02:41,840 --> 00:02:44,680 Speaker 1: doing and too short. He was the first person to 43 00:02:44,800 --> 00:02:49,160 Speaker 1: make bitch famous. How did that happen? Well, you know, 44 00:02:49,880 --> 00:02:51,959 Speaker 1: like you mentioned a minute ago, I did really grow 45 00:02:52,040 --> 00:02:54,560 Speaker 1: up in the South Central Let's make a noise south. 46 00:02:58,320 --> 00:03:00,799 Speaker 1: So you know, I gotta get colorful childhood. I've seen 47 00:03:00,840 --> 00:03:03,000 Speaker 1: it all, you know. So you was gang banging and 48 00:03:04,280 --> 00:03:06,240 Speaker 1: little in the set. My older brother was banging. But 49 00:03:06,320 --> 00:03:08,640 Speaker 1: you know, you never keep you real close to it. 50 00:03:08,680 --> 00:03:10,720 Speaker 1: So I've been there. You know, all my cousins. We 51 00:03:10,720 --> 00:03:12,400 Speaker 1: live all over the city, you know, the hood and 52 00:03:12,960 --> 00:03:16,120 Speaker 1: real real colorful, you know, upbringing, just seeing what was 53 00:03:16,120 --> 00:03:17,960 Speaker 1: going on in the city, like l A in the 54 00:03:18,160 --> 00:03:22,320 Speaker 1: early mid seventies, like seventies. And I moved to Oakland 55 00:03:22,400 --> 00:03:25,600 Speaker 1: right after ninth grade. How was you? I was, I 56 00:03:25,639 --> 00:03:28,320 Speaker 1: was fourteen, and then you would um, you would think 57 00:03:28,360 --> 00:03:30,960 Speaker 1: of California, California, just just moving up the street. But 58 00:03:30,960 --> 00:03:33,400 Speaker 1: it's it's like it was a totally different It's probably 59 00:03:33,400 --> 00:03:35,280 Speaker 1: like a kid from New York moving the upstate or 60 00:03:35,280 --> 00:03:38,280 Speaker 1: something like the difference all moving like Philly or something like. 61 00:03:38,320 --> 00:03:41,280 Speaker 1: So I get to the Bay, it's a whole different world. 62 00:03:42,240 --> 00:03:45,080 Speaker 1: It's and it's like it's it's like even more colorful 63 00:03:45,120 --> 00:03:47,480 Speaker 1: and more out just out there in front of you 64 00:03:47,520 --> 00:03:50,760 Speaker 1: where you know you. It just got a little more 65 00:03:50,800 --> 00:03:52,839 Speaker 1: personal for me. I'm coming up, I'm coming to Let 66 00:03:52,920 --> 00:03:57,160 Speaker 1: you left South Central at fourteen, so you're like almost 67 00:03:57,160 --> 00:04:00,640 Speaker 1: almost a grown man, and didn't how you come to 68 00:04:00,720 --> 00:04:04,040 Speaker 1: the Champion because that's this is the end is like 69 00:04:04,080 --> 00:04:06,560 Speaker 1: real territorial l A. At that time. It's like, you know, 70 00:04:06,600 --> 00:04:09,360 Speaker 1: even to this day, it's like from in the inner city. 71 00:04:09,760 --> 00:04:12,960 Speaker 1: It's like from neighborhood, the neighborhood, the faces that you know, 72 00:04:13,000 --> 00:04:15,240 Speaker 1: who's running the ship and where you're supposed to be 73 00:04:15,240 --> 00:04:17,120 Speaker 1: and not supposed to be you hit the wrong block. 74 00:04:17,320 --> 00:04:19,160 Speaker 1: Now we're from in the l A. Was that I, 75 00:04:21,000 --> 00:04:24,800 Speaker 1: oh my god. And when my first cousins on eighty 76 00:04:24,880 --> 00:04:30,080 Speaker 1: four in Hoover, so just that's just that's but that's 77 00:04:30,120 --> 00:04:33,279 Speaker 1: not very fucking far away. But it was like it 78 00:04:33,360 --> 00:04:36,400 Speaker 1: was like two different to travel that there to there. 79 00:04:36,440 --> 00:04:38,960 Speaker 1: You got to know your motherfucking route because they're gonna 80 00:04:38,960 --> 00:04:40,840 Speaker 1: take your bike, They're gonna take something if you hit 81 00:04:40,880 --> 00:04:43,599 Speaker 1: the wrong block. So I get to Oakland and it's 82 00:04:43,600 --> 00:04:45,880 Speaker 1: not it's not really about the little packs of gangs. 83 00:04:45,920 --> 00:04:48,120 Speaker 1: And it's not about blue or red. It's not about 84 00:04:48,480 --> 00:04:51,480 Speaker 1: the neighborhood so much. It was just like who's getting money, 85 00:04:51,640 --> 00:04:54,760 Speaker 1: Who's who's However, so, now how far the Oakland was 86 00:04:54,800 --> 00:04:57,159 Speaker 1: Fillmore Street, because that's that's the first thing I heard 87 00:04:57,160 --> 00:05:02,400 Speaker 1: about Oakland, Filmore Street, Filmore under that's oakling um uh 88 00:05:02,560 --> 00:05:06,520 Speaker 1: is that is that when filber in west uh Fillmore is. 89 00:05:06,560 --> 00:05:09,440 Speaker 1: This is a neighborhood in San Francisco. To Okay, okay, okay, 90 00:05:09,839 --> 00:05:12,880 Speaker 1: freak that down. Yeah, the Fillmore is a very historical neighborhood. 91 00:05:12,880 --> 00:05:15,000 Speaker 1: To Okland has a lot of history. You know, you 92 00:05:15,080 --> 00:05:17,400 Speaker 1: got different parts of the Bay, the Bay. You look 93 00:05:17,440 --> 00:05:19,000 Speaker 1: at the Bay like you look at the Five Boroughs 94 00:05:19,000 --> 00:05:21,000 Speaker 1: in New York. It's different sides of the Bay. Eforting 95 00:05:21,120 --> 00:05:24,120 Speaker 1: him over there from Vallejo, it's a little town called 96 00:05:24,120 --> 00:05:26,680 Speaker 1: East pala Altoy got you know, a lot of backbone. 97 00:05:26,880 --> 00:05:29,080 Speaker 1: It's um. You know, San Francisco got a couple of 98 00:05:29,120 --> 00:05:33,279 Speaker 1: little neighborhoods over there, Hunter's Point in Filmo and southing Dale. 99 00:05:33,560 --> 00:05:36,000 Speaker 1: You know, they real reportable neighborhoods. But you know, I'm 100 00:05:36,000 --> 00:05:38,240 Speaker 1: from East Oakland. I got mine from the East side. 101 00:05:38,240 --> 00:05:41,240 Speaker 1: So I show up and I'm just being a sponge man. 102 00:05:41,240 --> 00:05:43,320 Speaker 1: It's a new place. I'm looking around, you know. I 103 00:05:43,360 --> 00:05:45,200 Speaker 1: go to Freemount of High School and Ship and it's 104 00:05:45,240 --> 00:05:48,640 Speaker 1: like I go to school and as a nigger named 105 00:05:48,720 --> 00:05:51,440 Speaker 1: Frank the Bank who's pimping. He's a twelth grader of pimping. 106 00:05:51,480 --> 00:05:57,880 Speaker 1: Hold on, let's make some freak. He's pimping and one 107 00:05:57,880 --> 00:06:00,160 Speaker 1: of his Yeah, one of his hosts go to the 108 00:06:00,200 --> 00:06:04,160 Speaker 1: school too. Okay, I'm in this city now, I'm like wow. 109 00:06:04,279 --> 00:06:06,560 Speaker 1: So it's like this. They got another hop come show 110 00:06:06,640 --> 00:06:08,359 Speaker 1: up after school every day and picking him and up 111 00:06:08,600 --> 00:06:10,719 Speaker 1: him and the young how up and they go to work. 112 00:06:10,800 --> 00:06:12,919 Speaker 1: So it's like it was that type of environment. Man, 113 00:06:13,000 --> 00:06:16,680 Speaker 1: you got cats riding around like limousines, niggers driving the limousine. 114 00:06:16,680 --> 00:06:18,039 Speaker 1: If he rolled the back wind of that, it's like 115 00:06:18,040 --> 00:06:20,640 Speaker 1: five homes back there and then his house and it's 116 00:06:20,680 --> 00:06:23,240 Speaker 1: not the driver. And that's the first time you're coming 117 00:06:23,279 --> 00:06:26,000 Speaker 1: from South Central and that's the first time you see 118 00:06:26,160 --> 00:06:28,400 Speaker 1: pimp in. And then at the same time, it's like 119 00:06:28,440 --> 00:06:31,320 Speaker 1: Oakland was a lot different. Man. It was like niggas 120 00:06:31,360 --> 00:06:36,680 Speaker 1: was doing like car bombs and ship and what do 121 00:06:36,760 --> 00:06:39,240 Speaker 1: you mean by car bombs, was blowing each other's cars. 122 00:06:39,800 --> 00:06:44,119 Speaker 1: Why they was at war. They blow car. They chopped 123 00:06:44,120 --> 00:06:45,840 Speaker 1: your body up and put you in the plastic bag 124 00:06:45,920 --> 00:06:46,960 Speaker 1: on the side of the right. It was. It was 125 00:06:47,000 --> 00:06:49,840 Speaker 1: going down. They was doing Mafia ship seventies early. It's 126 00:06:49,839 --> 00:06:52,120 Speaker 1: like Felix Mitch. You ever heard of Felix Mitchell. Yeah, 127 00:06:52,960 --> 00:06:55,320 Speaker 1: but this is not the Spanish gangs, right, No, no, no, 128 00:06:55,720 --> 00:06:59,440 Speaker 1: this is before us. Just black dudes. This is the mob. 129 00:06:59,520 --> 00:07:01,280 Speaker 1: They called him something mom too, but it was just 130 00:07:01,560 --> 00:07:03,640 Speaker 1: it was different than the gang. The Blue and Red 131 00:07:03,720 --> 00:07:06,520 Speaker 1: people don't know that. UM on the West coast to 132 00:07:06,640 --> 00:07:09,960 Speaker 1: this day, you got the l A Cats. They went 133 00:07:10,000 --> 00:07:20,560 Speaker 1: to UM San Diego, UH, Sacramento, Denver, every city, want 134 00:07:18,480 --> 00:07:24,560 Speaker 1: to Las Vegas, UM, Phoenix, Arizona. They went to all 135 00:07:24,560 --> 00:07:29,600 Speaker 1: these cities, Seattle, Washington, Portland, Oregon, and they converted motherfucker's 136 00:07:29,600 --> 00:07:31,720 Speaker 1: into being crypton bludds. It's all up and down the west. 137 00:07:32,000 --> 00:07:33,880 Speaker 1: You never found that ship in the bay. The bay 138 00:07:33,960 --> 00:07:35,720 Speaker 1: was like, we don't get it, we don't want it. 139 00:07:35,920 --> 00:07:38,480 Speaker 1: And you know, even though because even the Spanish gangs 140 00:07:38,520 --> 00:07:41,640 Speaker 1: they might like fly color, but they ain't bang. They 141 00:07:41,720 --> 00:07:44,000 Speaker 1: was doing the North and South Ship and it ain't 142 00:07:44,040 --> 00:07:46,680 Speaker 1: the same science as crypton bloods as l A. Like 143 00:07:46,720 --> 00:07:48,840 Speaker 1: a lot of cities are like You've got Chicago niggas 144 00:07:48,840 --> 00:07:50,760 Speaker 1: that go around the way for Chicago and niggas in 145 00:07:50,800 --> 00:07:52,840 Speaker 1: the Vike's Lords and g ds like thing. You know, 146 00:07:52,880 --> 00:07:55,840 Speaker 1: it just didn't take to the Bay, blue and Red 147 00:07:56,040 --> 00:07:58,200 Speaker 1: and all that ship. So I'm just taking this ship 148 00:07:58,280 --> 00:08:02,240 Speaker 1: in as this new catnic city. And I started rapping, 149 00:08:03,600 --> 00:08:05,920 Speaker 1: just working around on the my all, my all, my 150 00:08:06,040 --> 00:08:09,080 Speaker 1: early raps, like one my ship was like kind of 151 00:08:09,120 --> 00:08:11,880 Speaker 1: like whatever whatever I was getting from, like sugar Hill 152 00:08:11,920 --> 00:08:13,960 Speaker 1: Records or something, just that vibe about, you know, the 153 00:08:14,000 --> 00:08:16,320 Speaker 1: party and ship and all that ship. So I'm wrapping 154 00:08:16,320 --> 00:08:19,239 Speaker 1: at different people's instrumentals. And the one thing that changed 155 00:08:19,280 --> 00:08:22,160 Speaker 1: everything for me was when I first heard the message 156 00:08:22,920 --> 00:08:25,040 Speaker 1: and I sat there, I'm walking down the street. I 157 00:08:25,040 --> 00:08:28,880 Speaker 1: remember I had my radio and because I'm listening to 158 00:08:28,920 --> 00:08:31,360 Speaker 1: this record to I've been bumping hip hop for about 159 00:08:31,400 --> 00:08:33,280 Speaker 1: three years at the time, and I'm listening to this 160 00:08:33,320 --> 00:08:36,520 Speaker 1: record and I could clear his day picture New York 161 00:08:36,600 --> 00:08:39,679 Speaker 1: City because the nigga was described New York at that time, 162 00:08:39,800 --> 00:08:43,280 Speaker 1: never so I can see New York. We weren't doing 163 00:08:43,360 --> 00:08:45,680 Speaker 1: videos and Ship. But then you just listen to the music. 164 00:08:45,720 --> 00:08:47,680 Speaker 1: So the nigga was giving me New York and I 165 00:08:47,760 --> 00:08:49,959 Speaker 1: just had the ideal of a lifetime about to give 166 00:08:50,000 --> 00:08:53,480 Speaker 1: these niggas Oakland. So so my upbringing in l A 167 00:08:53,840 --> 00:08:55,720 Speaker 1: and then moving to Oakland and taking it in like 168 00:08:55,760 --> 00:08:57,520 Speaker 1: a like a canvas or something like, you know, and 169 00:08:57,760 --> 00:09:01,360 Speaker 1: absorbing it. You know, something that I didn't receive from birth. 170 00:09:01,480 --> 00:09:04,400 Speaker 1: I just came into it. I started writing about it 171 00:09:04,400 --> 00:09:06,480 Speaker 1: was it became like my music the city of Oakland. 172 00:09:06,960 --> 00:09:10,719 Speaker 1: And even later in life, I could get stuck in 173 00:09:10,760 --> 00:09:13,560 Speaker 1: the studio and just think of some crazy shift I've 174 00:09:13,600 --> 00:09:15,480 Speaker 1: seen in Oakland, some shout I heard in Oakland, some 175 00:09:15,480 --> 00:09:17,800 Speaker 1: shift I think about Oakland and just start writing. And 176 00:09:17,840 --> 00:09:20,120 Speaker 1: Ship just made me write songs. So, so, what's the 177 00:09:20,160 --> 00:09:22,760 Speaker 1: name of their first album again out Don't Stop Rapping? 178 00:09:22,800 --> 00:09:24,880 Speaker 1: And I named it that for a reason And you 179 00:09:24,920 --> 00:09:35,800 Speaker 1: didn't stop wrapping by five? So so short, Yeah, that's crazy, 180 00:09:35,840 --> 00:09:40,920 Speaker 1: that is crazy. So and when what year did that drop? Five? 181 00:09:40,960 --> 00:09:43,840 Speaker 1: I was born in seventy seven, so you know, So 182 00:09:43,920 --> 00:09:46,080 Speaker 1: if I don't, if I know that, you know, I'm 183 00:09:46,120 --> 00:09:48,400 Speaker 1: a big fan. I always been a big fan of you. 184 00:09:48,520 --> 00:09:50,560 Speaker 1: U was raping job for a long time. Come on, 185 00:09:50,640 --> 00:09:56,640 Speaker 1: let's a salute to that rape job. You saw that 186 00:09:56,679 --> 00:10:02,679 Speaker 1: Planet Rock documentary. Yeah, the relationship between crack cocaine and 187 00:10:02,720 --> 00:10:07,000 Speaker 1: hip hop, let's not the city v H one. It 188 00:10:07,080 --> 00:10:10,839 Speaker 1: was either VIN one or B and then talking about 189 00:10:11,480 --> 00:10:13,920 Speaker 1: throughout the history of hip hop and how the cocaine 190 00:10:13,960 --> 00:10:18,079 Speaker 1: and the cracking. I'm from that ship because the way 191 00:10:18,120 --> 00:10:22,560 Speaker 1: that people say, uh and freeway Rick Ross. If they 192 00:10:22,640 --> 00:10:27,880 Speaker 1: said that crack cocaine invented in Oakland, it was l 193 00:10:27,960 --> 00:10:30,360 Speaker 1: a but then they they used cities like Oakland to 194 00:10:30,520 --> 00:10:34,319 Speaker 1: kind of like to stop. Yeah. Yeah, So how was 195 00:10:34,440 --> 00:10:38,040 Speaker 1: that like seeing the city coming from South Central going 196 00:10:38,120 --> 00:10:41,199 Speaker 1: to Oakland and then you seeing it not having crack 197 00:10:41,520 --> 00:10:44,160 Speaker 1: and then now crack has closed. So first and foremost, 198 00:10:44,200 --> 00:10:46,120 Speaker 1: I gotta say I never so dup in my life. 199 00:10:48,480 --> 00:10:52,679 Speaker 1: You know what's going to do? I sold a lot 200 00:10:52,720 --> 00:10:56,199 Speaker 1: of pussy. Yeah, oh my god. But that being said, 201 00:10:56,360 --> 00:11:01,160 Speaker 1: um so before eight five, before like you know, you 202 00:11:01,360 --> 00:11:04,640 Speaker 1: remember that ship, it was like I could be like 203 00:11:04,679 --> 00:11:06,720 Speaker 1: what I called Nigga rich Man. You might just your 204 00:11:06,760 --> 00:11:09,559 Speaker 1: hu hustle might only back then might have got you 205 00:11:09,720 --> 00:11:11,959 Speaker 1: like three five grand, but you had a car. You 206 00:11:12,040 --> 00:11:14,559 Speaker 1: always had a wide with a rubber band. He was 207 00:11:14,720 --> 00:11:19,400 Speaker 1: he was bawling. And the crack change that ship. I remember, 208 00:11:20,280 --> 00:11:22,240 Speaker 1: I remember the crack did a few things man because 209 00:11:22,320 --> 00:11:25,000 Speaker 1: her Oakland was like not Oakland, but I mean that 210 00:11:25,160 --> 00:11:29,000 Speaker 1: area was a great area. Like prior to the drugs, 211 00:11:29,360 --> 00:11:30,959 Speaker 1: you could you could move around a little bit. It 212 00:11:31,040 --> 00:11:33,560 Speaker 1: wasn't too fucking dangerous if you you do freeery red 213 00:11:33,600 --> 00:11:38,080 Speaker 1: Cross later on, later on continued, but it's the kind 214 00:11:38,120 --> 00:11:40,320 Speaker 1: of place where you could you had to get yourself 215 00:11:40,400 --> 00:11:42,920 Speaker 1: in some trouble if you did it, if you asked 216 00:11:42,960 --> 00:11:45,840 Speaker 1: for it, you was gonna get it to the front appropriately. 217 00:11:45,920 --> 00:11:48,760 Speaker 1: But after the crack, you would notice like and you 218 00:11:49,040 --> 00:11:51,680 Speaker 1: know this ship too, um, it would be like little niggas, 219 00:11:51,920 --> 00:11:53,839 Speaker 1: the little niggas that used to probably like couldn't fight 220 00:11:53,880 --> 00:11:56,000 Speaker 1: too good and ship and it wasn't like you know, 221 00:11:56,120 --> 00:11:58,280 Speaker 1: these little niggas was respected. Now they got that money, 222 00:11:58,320 --> 00:11:59,920 Speaker 1: that sack and they got a couple of soldiers and 223 00:12:00,080 --> 00:12:02,040 Speaker 1: like this little nigga is a boss now like too 224 00:12:02,160 --> 00:12:04,200 Speaker 1: three years into it, Like this nigga is a kingpin. 225 00:12:04,640 --> 00:12:07,200 Speaker 1: And it just changed that. You know, we didn't before 226 00:12:07,240 --> 00:12:10,120 Speaker 1: the crack, we didn't have a handguns that could shoot 227 00:12:10,160 --> 00:12:12,240 Speaker 1: seventeen bullets. You know what I'm saying that the motion 228 00:12:12,280 --> 00:12:14,959 Speaker 1: you might get shoot six shots and the motherfucking you know, 229 00:12:15,120 --> 00:12:17,400 Speaker 1: tell you why you got shot after the crap, you 230 00:12:17,400 --> 00:12:21,480 Speaker 1: don't know why you got shot seventeen And that's just 231 00:12:21,600 --> 00:12:24,559 Speaker 1: if it's a handgun. Do you believe the story that 232 00:12:24,679 --> 00:12:28,959 Speaker 1: the c i A actually that it started. That's a 233 00:12:29,040 --> 00:12:32,920 Speaker 1: good version that this is true. But the bigger version 234 00:12:32,960 --> 00:12:34,680 Speaker 1: now is the whole big story of the whole mass 235 00:12:34,720 --> 00:12:38,760 Speaker 1: incarceration thing, that the whole ship was a scam. So 236 00:12:39,160 --> 00:12:41,199 Speaker 1: that it's damn there, like we we all this ship 237 00:12:41,320 --> 00:12:43,559 Speaker 1: we called coke rap. We're damn there like we we 238 00:12:43,679 --> 00:12:46,200 Speaker 1: failed for the trap. You know they call what they 239 00:12:46,280 --> 00:12:49,040 Speaker 1: sell dope in the spot called the trap. That I 240 00:12:49,080 --> 00:12:51,880 Speaker 1: mean it says at all. So so so listen, I 241 00:12:51,960 --> 00:12:53,880 Speaker 1: want to get into the pymnt thing because you know 242 00:12:53,960 --> 00:12:55,959 Speaker 1: why I want to get into the Pippin thing because 243 00:12:55,960 --> 00:12:58,160 Speaker 1: I don't give a funk with any n y C nigga. 244 00:12:58,240 --> 00:13:01,960 Speaker 1: Tell you, we didn't know anything about no Pippen until 245 00:13:02,040 --> 00:13:04,280 Speaker 1: we heard you talking about it. When you heard you 246 00:13:04,360 --> 00:13:06,679 Speaker 1: talking about it, then we've seen Bishop don maam, we've 247 00:13:06,679 --> 00:13:10,199 Speaker 1: seen them. You know the players, uh, players ball, we've 248 00:13:10,200 --> 00:13:12,079 Speaker 1: seen all that. Come on, he stopped the phone boy, 249 00:13:13,280 --> 00:13:19,000 Speaker 1: that's because so so so so so so when was 250 00:13:19,080 --> 00:13:21,520 Speaker 1: the first time he was introduced to pimpen And then 251 00:13:21,600 --> 00:13:24,080 Speaker 1: how did you realize that that was that was gonna 252 00:13:24,080 --> 00:13:27,520 Speaker 1: be your life? All right? Well, my infatuation started with 253 00:13:28,080 --> 00:13:29,960 Speaker 1: the movies of the seventies because they put it in there. 254 00:13:30,880 --> 00:13:33,200 Speaker 1: And then, like I said, my cousins living on eighty 255 00:13:33,240 --> 00:13:34,680 Speaker 1: four ft hoover, if you go to the other end 256 00:13:34,679 --> 00:13:36,360 Speaker 1: of the block, you want to figure rower and that's 257 00:13:36,400 --> 00:13:39,840 Speaker 1: where it hover. That's in the l a. So then 258 00:13:39,880 --> 00:13:41,560 Speaker 1: when I get the Oakland, I see these niggs righting 259 00:13:41,600 --> 00:13:43,559 Speaker 1: around limousine, the hoses and then getting picked up in 260 00:13:43,640 --> 00:13:46,199 Speaker 1: school from his hose and limousines looking at back and 261 00:13:46,280 --> 00:13:48,280 Speaker 1: it was like they're made back back then. Yeah, and 262 00:13:48,320 --> 00:13:49,679 Speaker 1: then me and my little homie, we'll go down to 263 00:13:49,880 --> 00:13:52,520 Speaker 1: San Pablo where they used to see pussy and prior 264 00:13:52,600 --> 00:13:55,520 Speaker 1: to Crack, they looked like a fucking monel wing runaway 265 00:13:55,520 --> 00:14:01,440 Speaker 1: and ships were beautiful. Yeah. So because you know, Crack 266 00:14:01,520 --> 00:14:03,559 Speaker 1: gave pivot and home like this ugly s image. A 267 00:14:03,559 --> 00:14:05,120 Speaker 1: lot of pimps got smoked out a lot of holes 268 00:14:05,160 --> 00:14:06,880 Speaker 1: got smoked out, and then it was like then we 269 00:14:06,920 --> 00:14:09,240 Speaker 1: start saying it like crack horrors. Before that, your bitch 270 00:14:09,280 --> 00:14:12,440 Speaker 1: had to be a superstar. And even to this day, 271 00:14:12,520 --> 00:14:14,959 Speaker 1: I want to shout out some of my young pimping 272 00:14:15,040 --> 00:14:18,200 Speaker 1: homies right now that they're pimping on some dying pieces 273 00:14:18,240 --> 00:14:22,360 Speaker 1: that you would never think was bitches not making three 274 00:14:22,880 --> 00:14:25,400 Speaker 1: when she laid she's bringing in a thousands, she's bringing 275 00:14:25,440 --> 00:14:27,720 Speaker 1: in thousands. You know, I was out there on some 276 00:14:27,840 --> 00:14:30,720 Speaker 1: major routes right now. So just to keep the pimpot alive, 277 00:14:30,760 --> 00:14:33,880 Speaker 1: don't don't, don't get it, I keep propping my call 278 00:14:34,000 --> 00:14:41,360 Speaker 1: like every time. I keep some times shoes they looked 279 00:14:41,360 --> 00:14:45,760 Speaker 1: like rappers morning. So so I, um, I've seen this ship, man. 280 00:14:45,840 --> 00:14:48,240 Speaker 1: I started. I started diving a little more into it. 281 00:14:48,360 --> 00:14:50,640 Speaker 1: My thing with rapping after I heard the message was 282 00:14:51,040 --> 00:14:54,560 Speaker 1: let's use the lingo of the streets, the new slang 283 00:14:54,600 --> 00:14:56,800 Speaker 1: words that come out the ship that's really happening, Like, 284 00:14:56,880 --> 00:14:59,680 Speaker 1: let's talk about these streets. And then it just he 285 00:15:00,000 --> 00:15:03,320 Speaker 1: off into you know, let's talk about this game, and 286 00:15:03,360 --> 00:15:06,280 Speaker 1: we just started like people just you would wrap about 287 00:15:06,280 --> 00:15:08,000 Speaker 1: ship and you would see what motherfucker was interested in. 288 00:15:08,200 --> 00:15:11,480 Speaker 1: They wanted to hear that real ship. So somewhere down 289 00:15:11,520 --> 00:15:12,880 Speaker 1: the line, I had a I had a line in 290 00:15:12,960 --> 00:15:15,080 Speaker 1: one of my songs, I don't know if you're smokeing, 291 00:15:15,160 --> 00:15:23,640 Speaker 1: Oh ship ship short. I was anna say that I 292 00:15:26,280 --> 00:15:29,440 Speaker 1: didn't know you smoke you About fifteen sixteen, I wrote 293 00:15:29,480 --> 00:15:31,640 Speaker 1: this this one line and said, um, it said I 294 00:15:31,760 --> 00:15:35,480 Speaker 1: had sixteen holes sucking tin toes and that you can 295 00:15:35,560 --> 00:15:37,960 Speaker 1: bet like it was just a line, and every time 296 00:15:38,000 --> 00:15:40,480 Speaker 1: I said that in the song, Motherfucker's laughed. So I 297 00:15:40,600 --> 00:15:45,360 Speaker 1: sat down by myself and said, let me write a 298 00:15:45,440 --> 00:15:47,360 Speaker 1: song about each of these sixteen holes and how I 299 00:15:47,440 --> 00:15:49,880 Speaker 1: met him. And that was the early version of my 300 00:15:49,960 --> 00:15:51,960 Speaker 1: song that came to be real popular, called Freaky Tales. 301 00:15:52,560 --> 00:15:54,760 Speaker 1: And I had a song about these sixteen holes how 302 00:15:54,800 --> 00:15:57,320 Speaker 1: I met him, I met this hole, you know, And 303 00:15:58,640 --> 00:16:00,320 Speaker 1: it just started being more and more himp and I 304 00:16:00,360 --> 00:16:04,320 Speaker 1: just started digging into the game. Some of those books got some 308 00:16:15,080 --> 00:16:17,320 Speaker 1: real game up in the real game. I read this 309 00:16:17,360 --> 00:16:19,440 Speaker 1: book called a broad Players. It's not very popular, but 310 00:16:19,520 --> 00:16:23,600 Speaker 1: that motherfucker. Just it's just big pimping. And I started 311 00:16:23,640 --> 00:16:25,200 Speaker 1: it just come to me, man, you get these ideas 312 00:16:25,240 --> 00:16:26,840 Speaker 1: as a writer, and I'm like, dn that hauld be 313 00:16:27,000 --> 00:16:30,320 Speaker 1: a cold as fun just like this. For a week, I was pimping, 317 00:16:40,920 --> 00:16:43,640 Speaker 1: like for just one week, just one week, right, just 318 00:16:43,800 --> 00:16:48,240 Speaker 1: one I swore I was pimping. Why 325 00:17:07,000 --> 00:17:08,920 Speaker 1: is this woman gonna sell her body and give you 326 00:17:09,040 --> 00:17:11,840 Speaker 1: the money? Right? And you know, you put yourself and 327 00:17:11,880 --> 00:17:14,120 Speaker 1: start of like a manager role. You kind of like um, 328 00:17:14,960 --> 00:17:18,359 Speaker 1: kind of like her fucking fucking therapists and ship. You know, 329 00:17:18,480 --> 00:17:20,600 Speaker 1: but this is gonna be crazy as hell. You gotta 330 00:17:20,640 --> 00:17:22,840 Speaker 1: you gotta bring it back around every night, because a 331 00:17:22,960 --> 00:17:26,800 Speaker 1: real pimp gotta be real smart. Let's the main The 332 00:17:26,960 --> 00:17:29,440 Speaker 1: main secret I think that I learned about pippin that one, 333 00:17:29,680 --> 00:17:31,639 Speaker 1: the one that lets you go home and kick your 334 00:17:31,680 --> 00:17:34,680 Speaker 1: ass back while she's out there working, is she gotta 335 00:17:34,680 --> 00:17:36,919 Speaker 1: be home for a purpose, and you've got to give 336 00:17:36,960 --> 00:17:42,200 Speaker 1: her a person, some noise for for a purpose. Start 337 00:17:42,200 --> 00:17:45,560 Speaker 1: giving that puss here away for no reason. So, I mean, 338 00:17:45,640 --> 00:17:47,560 Speaker 1: it's anything in life. Man, if you're not driven, if 339 00:17:47,600 --> 00:17:49,560 Speaker 1: you're you're wrapping and ship, and you're not wrapping for something, 340 00:17:49,600 --> 00:17:51,720 Speaker 1: you're not really you're not really going forward, just on 341 00:17:51,800 --> 00:17:54,440 Speaker 1: the corner freestyling and battling. I just always thought that 342 00:17:54,600 --> 00:17:58,280 Speaker 1: like the pimps that didn't hit the holes and didn't 343 00:17:58,320 --> 00:18:02,080 Speaker 1: do that, I thought there's the best ones, because in 344 00:18:02,240 --> 00:18:04,600 Speaker 1: order for you to control somebody with your mind and 345 00:18:04,760 --> 00:18:08,359 Speaker 1: just talk to them, that is the illest psychological therapist, 346 00:18:08,840 --> 00:18:11,680 Speaker 1: craziest ship. So how about those pips, Well, you know 347 00:18:11,800 --> 00:18:14,720 Speaker 1: the pimps who I call that like finesse pimpen where 348 00:18:14,760 --> 00:18:20,760 Speaker 1: you could just pep and then the other guy who 349 00:18:20,840 --> 00:18:22,639 Speaker 1: gotta beat the girl scared of shut out. They call 350 00:18:22,680 --> 00:18:25,200 Speaker 1: that guerrilla pimp. And I heard about and you know 351 00:18:25,280 --> 00:18:27,280 Speaker 1: the finesse pimps, they kind of laugh at the grilla pimps. 352 00:18:27,320 --> 00:18:29,159 Speaker 1: It's kind of like they look at it like the 353 00:18:29,280 --> 00:18:30,760 Speaker 1: nigga is not as smart as me and he don't 354 00:18:30,760 --> 00:18:33,520 Speaker 1: got much game as me. But it works both ways. 355 00:18:33,520 --> 00:18:34,760 Speaker 1: You want to you want to pimp the whole out 356 00:18:34,800 --> 00:18:37,680 Speaker 1: of fear. I personally don't think that that's even necessary, 357 00:18:37,720 --> 00:18:39,560 Speaker 1: but there's a lot of niggas. It's mean nature like 358 00:18:39,680 --> 00:18:42,359 Speaker 1: that to just dog the bitch out and just just 359 00:18:42,440 --> 00:18:44,720 Speaker 1: run round a house full of fear. But you know, 360 00:18:44,880 --> 00:18:48,679 Speaker 1: either way, you're getting the money man, because because your 361 00:18:48,720 --> 00:18:51,040 Speaker 1: record label was always you was you was signed a 362 00:18:51,160 --> 00:18:55,760 Speaker 1: job for like like well ship like like maybe twelve 363 00:18:58,000 --> 00:19:03,400 Speaker 1: the no it was me E forty spice one because 364 00:19:04,000 --> 00:19:06,200 Speaker 1: the tours was crazy back then. So but you was 365 00:19:06,280 --> 00:19:09,600 Speaker 1: the first like a fish rapper from Oakland, no doubt about, 366 00:19:09,640 --> 00:19:11,760 Speaker 1: from the whole fucking Bay area. Make some noise for that. 367 00:19:11,760 --> 00:19:16,920 Speaker 1: I got dad at no Ship And it has really 368 00:19:17,040 --> 00:19:20,680 Speaker 1: nothing to do with my l a upbringing either. This 369 00:19:20,840 --> 00:19:23,399 Speaker 1: that I just got to Oakland. It all just happened. 370 00:19:23,440 --> 00:19:25,560 Speaker 1: After I got there. I decided I could do this 371 00:19:25,680 --> 00:19:27,440 Speaker 1: rap ship and I just didn't it just you know, 372 00:19:27,880 --> 00:19:31,880 Speaker 1: it's even bigger than being the first rapper up out 373 00:19:31,880 --> 00:19:33,800 Speaker 1: of the bay. Bigger than that is is being a 374 00:19:33,920 --> 00:19:36,280 Speaker 1: pioneer of the whole music scene, because you could be 375 00:19:36,400 --> 00:19:39,800 Speaker 1: the first rapper and not pioneer ship. But we brought 376 00:19:39,880 --> 00:19:44,440 Speaker 1: in that independent put your mother records out, you know, 377 00:19:44,520 --> 00:19:47,000 Speaker 1: And like I said, it was because then job came 378 00:19:47,080 --> 00:19:49,360 Speaker 1: and got you. How did that happen when you first 379 00:19:49,440 --> 00:19:51,879 Speaker 1: got sign a job? I came in the game through uh, 380 00:19:52,200 --> 00:19:55,879 Speaker 1: through some some street guys, you know, okay, particularly a 381 00:19:55,920 --> 00:20:04,080 Speaker 1: guy named Dean Hodges. He seen you and this little 382 00:20:04,119 --> 00:20:06,560 Speaker 1: brother was was the homie. We still you know, smoke weed, 383 00:20:06,720 --> 00:20:08,000 Speaker 1: hang out the ship and he was just the homie. 384 00:20:08,200 --> 00:20:12,159 Speaker 1: We still funk around and like his little brother rapped, 385 00:20:12,440 --> 00:20:14,720 Speaker 1: but he wasn't. He wasn't really that quality where that 386 00:20:14,800 --> 00:20:16,240 Speaker 1: you ever thought he was gonna get on. He was 387 00:20:16,280 --> 00:20:17,639 Speaker 1: just like for the fun of every day. But then 388 00:20:17,680 --> 00:20:20,160 Speaker 1: the projects rapping and ship kicking out. So he was like, man, 389 00:20:20,520 --> 00:20:23,600 Speaker 1: my brother got a record label. I'm like, okay, you know, 390 00:20:23,880 --> 00:20:25,320 Speaker 1: He's like, take you up by his house. Now I 391 00:20:25,400 --> 00:20:27,639 Speaker 1: knew his brother not for having a record label. The 392 00:20:27,720 --> 00:20:30,119 Speaker 1: nigga he had the sack And if you want to 393 00:20:30,119 --> 00:20:31,840 Speaker 1: get a visual of Dean back then, Dean kind of 394 00:20:32,400 --> 00:20:34,159 Speaker 1: you know nigga with the with the curlers in his hair, 395 00:20:34,240 --> 00:20:38,119 Speaker 1: the cover green or whatever the East Coast. Every time 396 00:20:38,160 --> 00:20:40,679 Speaker 1: they had the curlers in the head, just kill us. 397 00:20:42,359 --> 00:20:44,359 Speaker 1: Picture that nigga and looking like he was kind of 398 00:20:44,440 --> 00:20:47,879 Speaker 1: like a Jimmy Hendricks, Rick James looking just like a 399 00:20:48,000 --> 00:20:52,280 Speaker 1: rock star. Him and man, I got so much game. 400 00:20:52,440 --> 00:20:54,080 Speaker 1: Dean taught me how to be a player. This nigga 401 00:20:54,280 --> 00:20:56,439 Speaker 1: was a player. He was a player for I mean 402 00:20:56,560 --> 00:20:58,600 Speaker 1: real player who was sitting in his house. I'm fresh 403 00:20:58,640 --> 00:21:00,640 Speaker 1: out of high school. This nigga run in and out 404 00:21:00,760 --> 00:21:03,080 Speaker 1: all day all day. Just he got the sack and 405 00:21:03,160 --> 00:21:04,840 Speaker 1: he's just rock star in the hood and he's just 406 00:21:04,920 --> 00:21:08,040 Speaker 1: a house on the hill bawling. And then then they 407 00:21:08,119 --> 00:21:10,520 Speaker 1: had a label. And the whole label consists of him 408 00:21:11,200 --> 00:21:15,720 Speaker 1: m having the money, having a drug. Everybody wanted to cocaine. 409 00:21:16,560 --> 00:21:18,080 Speaker 1: He sit out there. I went back until I had 583 00:30:02,080 --> 00:30:04,520 Speaker 1: a box. Well, I didn't have a rap book. I 584 00:30:04,560 --> 00:30:07,200 Speaker 1: had a box full of wraps I've been right in 585 00:30:07,680 --> 00:30:09,600 Speaker 1: for years and just little tapes in the street. I 586 00:30:09,600 --> 00:30:12,600 Speaker 1: wouldn't that box and recycle every motherfucking line in there, 587 00:30:12,800 --> 00:30:15,120 Speaker 1: but I would just scratch out the line if I 588 00:30:15,240 --> 00:30:18,000 Speaker 1: use it. I was using them old wraps for the 589 00:30:18,080 --> 00:30:20,800 Speaker 1: next eight years. Should I wrote for eight years prior, 590 00:30:20,840 --> 00:30:22,600 Speaker 1: I used for eight years. In my deal, I put 591 00:30:22,640 --> 00:30:25,200 Speaker 1: out an album probably every nine months. And now, what 592 00:30:25,480 --> 00:30:28,120 Speaker 1: would you getta see to yourself more of a wrapper 593 00:30:28,640 --> 00:30:32,600 Speaker 1: or more of a CEO and the hustler. Well, as 594 00:30:32,640 --> 00:30:36,360 Speaker 1: far as rap goes, I think I'm a real, real 595 00:30:36,560 --> 00:30:40,000 Speaker 1: major hip hop fan and I always put myself outside 596 00:30:40,120 --> 00:30:43,320 Speaker 1: the circle of what I'm calling hip hop niggas. Was like, oh, 597 00:30:43,400 --> 00:30:45,360 Speaker 1: they nigga spit them bars. You know that ship, Like 598 00:30:47,520 --> 00:30:51,640 Speaker 1: I was strictly just pounding in the trunk, talking ship. 599 00:30:52,480 --> 00:30:54,560 Speaker 1: And I could have taught a lot of niggas, no 600 00:30:54,720 --> 00:30:56,440 Speaker 1: matter what the integrity of you as a man, I 601 00:30:56,480 --> 00:30:58,840 Speaker 1: could have taught you how to talk that ship and 602 00:30:58,960 --> 00:31:00,720 Speaker 1: make that ship pound. You would have had a million 603 00:31:00,800 --> 00:31:03,080 Speaker 1: fans like me, like it just was you talk shit. 604 00:31:03,200 --> 00:31:08,600 Speaker 1: I listen, I'm saying ship talking versus spitting bars and 605 00:31:08,640 --> 00:31:12,200 Speaker 1: all this ship and being a rapper. But see, oh man, 606 00:31:12,280 --> 00:31:13,920 Speaker 1: I look at it like we hustlers, man, because we 607 00:31:14,280 --> 00:31:16,720 Speaker 1: we we started company, and we don't say you're my boss, 608 00:31:16,760 --> 00:31:19,800 Speaker 1: and that like were hustling to get this money doing something. 609 00:31:20,000 --> 00:31:22,800 Speaker 1: We didn't drop niggas off on the way. Because we're 610 00:31:22,840 --> 00:31:24,480 Speaker 1: hustling and getting money. It's a lot of money coming 611 00:31:24,480 --> 00:31:26,600 Speaker 1: in and niggas like call me when you're going to lunch, 612 00:31:27,080 --> 00:31:28,920 Speaker 1: you know, Like you know, we're up at seven in 613 00:31:28,960 --> 00:31:31,160 Speaker 1: the morning pressing up ship and picking up ship and 614 00:31:31,200 --> 00:31:33,640 Speaker 1: moving it around, you know, and we and we partied 615 00:31:33,680 --> 00:31:35,760 Speaker 1: all last night, but we're up in the morning grinding 616 00:31:35,800 --> 00:31:37,640 Speaker 1: getting the ship to where we can get these checks back. 617 00:31:38,680 --> 00:31:42,960 Speaker 1: I always thought about bank deposits. Yeah you need to 618 00:31:43,000 --> 00:31:46,440 Speaker 1: be you need to be making more money, and yeah, 619 00:31:46,440 --> 00:31:47,720 Speaker 1: you have took that in the bank. I need to 620 00:31:47,720 --> 00:31:49,760 Speaker 1: try to put that in the bank, so I'll put 621 00:31:49,880 --> 00:31:54,680 Speaker 1: that on my mattress. I'm a foul, don't. I'm like, 622 00:31:54,760 --> 00:31:56,680 Speaker 1: how the fund can we make get to the bank 623 00:31:56,720 --> 00:31:59,560 Speaker 1: and put money in? Uh? We? Really? Okay? The 632 00:32:34,760 --> 00:32:37,280 Speaker 1: Hughes brothers, this is what I think happened. The brothers 633 00:32:37,280 --> 00:32:39,920 Speaker 1: are a really real big Bay Area hip hop fans 634 00:32:40,880 --> 00:32:43,680 Speaker 1: and they from Pomona somewhere in l A. They love 635 00:32:43,800 --> 00:32:45,560 Speaker 1: Bay rapped there to say this is what they told me. 636 00:32:45,960 --> 00:32:51,360 Speaker 1: And Tupac had just funked off his partner movie by 637 00:32:51,560 --> 00:33:03,040 Speaker 1: beating one of the brothers. So, um so Park was 638 00:33:03,080 --> 00:33:05,280 Speaker 1: off the movie. And if you notice, it's not a 639 00:33:05,360 --> 00:33:07,320 Speaker 1: lot of star power. You got but Park didn't have 640 00:33:07,480 --> 00:33:10,920 Speaker 1: your role. No no, no, no, no, he didn't he 641 00:33:10,960 --> 00:33:16,360 Speaker 1: had You're supposed to be the it that was. So 642 00:33:16,440 --> 00:33:18,440 Speaker 1: they needed a little star power and they just uh 643 00:33:18,720 --> 00:33:20,760 Speaker 1: they strictly just brought me into that they could have 644 00:33:20,880 --> 00:33:23,600 Speaker 1: like somebody name branding that motherfuckering. Then they they just 645 00:33:23,680 --> 00:33:26,160 Speaker 1: happened to be major too short fans if you noticed, 646 00:33:26,200 --> 00:33:28,400 Speaker 1: they came and got me for their next little documentary movie. 647 00:33:28,560 --> 00:33:32,000 Speaker 1: Uh what was it called? American pamp Oh? Yes, and 648 00:33:32,480 --> 00:33:34,560 Speaker 1: let me set you though, you're supposed to be in there, 649 00:33:34,600 --> 00:33:36,520 Speaker 1: go ahead. So it was it was just a matter 650 00:33:36,600 --> 00:33:37,640 Speaker 1: that man, I came in there and work for a 651 00:33:37,680 --> 00:33:40,240 Speaker 1: few days and kicked it. That minister Society, the cold 652 00:33:40,320 --> 00:33:43,960 Speaker 1: ass movie. You had the coldest role in there. Yeah, 653 00:33:44,240 --> 00:33:46,880 Speaker 1: they learning you know, I'm not that was a cold world. 654 00:33:46,880 --> 00:33:49,040 Speaker 1: I'm not only pulled the trap on no dog, that's 655 00:33:49,440 --> 00:33:52,160 Speaker 1: the movie. Let's make some noise and put on trap 656 00:33:52,360 --> 00:33:58,479 Speaker 1: roll dog. That's a fact that that's I mean for us, 657 00:33:58,800 --> 00:34:02,480 Speaker 1: especially us from New York. Um. And for me everything was about buildings. Everything 665 00:34:26,320 --> 00:34:30,080 Speaker 1: was about like when I see in the face ye 666 00:34:30,200 --> 00:34:32,520 Speaker 1: and you chopped it up and this was the craziest 667 00:34:32,560 --> 00:34:36,520 Speaker 1: thing to see you guys in your element. You know 668 00:34:36,560 --> 00:34:40,120 Speaker 1: what I'm saying. Like, but but the crazy thing is 669 00:34:40,280 --> 00:34:44,680 Speaker 1: you was from South Central and then you went up 670 00:34:44,760 --> 00:34:47,759 Speaker 1: north North North Cow, so you called it up North 671 00:34:47,840 --> 00:34:54,360 Speaker 1: and North Yeah, north count Two different worlds, two different 672 00:34:55,520 --> 00:34:57,800 Speaker 1: The Mexican gangs they divide them, the slang words, the 673 00:34:57,920 --> 00:35:01,040 Speaker 1: dress come wow yeah makes you could adapt to both 674 00:35:01,080 --> 00:35:03,560 Speaker 1: worlds still. I mean to this day, to this day, 675 00:35:03,600 --> 00:35:05,560 Speaker 1: you can still love that. I an't gonna lie. I 676 00:35:05,640 --> 00:35:08,640 Speaker 1: had a promoter hit me one time and it was 677 00:35:08,719 --> 00:35:11,239 Speaker 1: a It was a lady. It was like, you want 678 00:35:11,280 --> 00:35:13,960 Speaker 1: too short at the easiest people to um handle, and 679 00:35:14,000 --> 00:35:15,920 Speaker 1: I was like, why is that? It was like, you 680 00:35:16,080 --> 00:35:18,160 Speaker 1: don't ask for here and make up. They just want 681 00:35:18,239 --> 00:35:23,960 Speaker 1: the land and we miss the diva ship. What's Yeah. 682 00:35:24,000 --> 00:35:27,400 Speaker 1: I'm like, I'm like, what's the pick up? You can 683 00:35:27,440 --> 00:35:31,320 Speaker 1: take that where did Mike at how it makes you 684 00:35:31,400 --> 00:35:35,160 Speaker 1: need one? So that but after minutes, how did your 685 00:35:35,239 --> 00:35:37,480 Speaker 1: life change? Because that had to be the biggest music 686 00:35:37,840 --> 00:35:40,440 Speaker 1: movie at that time. Man, I ain't gonna lie. Man, 687 00:35:40,920 --> 00:35:42,799 Speaker 1: what I had going on at that moment was bigger 688 00:35:42,800 --> 00:35:45,759 Speaker 1: than that movie. My Ship was platinum, platinum, platinum, that movie. 689 00:35:46,239 --> 00:35:48,560 Speaker 1: That movie like some side shout, I wouldn't there was 690 00:35:48,600 --> 00:35:50,520 Speaker 1: a side. It was a slot. I was already popping 691 00:35:50,560 --> 00:35:54,759 Speaker 1: so that the movie came out hit hard, but it was. 692 00:35:55,440 --> 00:35:56,480 Speaker 1: It was one of the ones that kind of like 693 00:35:56,600 --> 00:35:58,400 Speaker 1: Purple Rain kind of movie where kind of lasted and 694 00:35:58,520 --> 00:36:01,239 Speaker 1: lasted and lasting. We don't go still last. You watch 695 00:36:01,280 --> 00:36:04,719 Speaker 1: it right now on TV or you know, and edited 696 00:36:04,719 --> 00:36:07,080 Speaker 1: it's still it's the Ship movie. The boys made a 697 00:36:07,120 --> 00:36:10,799 Speaker 1: good movie. But you know, man, that whole New York 698 00:36:10,880 --> 00:36:13,279 Speaker 1: West Coast thing I used to I used to go 699 00:36:13,360 --> 00:36:15,040 Speaker 1: to New York. What you're telling me now? Like I 700 00:36:15,120 --> 00:36:16,440 Speaker 1: used to go to New York. And I know for 701 00:36:16,560 --> 00:36:19,719 Speaker 1: a fact it wasn't really about the music, because motherfucker's like, man, 702 00:36:19,719 --> 00:36:21,560 Speaker 1: I really needn't hear too much that you did. But 703 00:36:21,640 --> 00:36:24,000 Speaker 1: they'd be like man, respect some respect, kids like like 704 00:36:24,120 --> 00:36:26,800 Speaker 1: it would be it was the fact then it was 705 00:36:26,840 --> 00:36:29,800 Speaker 1: a nationalize just like if you're the man, you're the 706 00:36:29,880 --> 00:36:32,040 Speaker 1: man in your hood. So I asked my New Yorkers, 707 00:36:32,040 --> 00:36:33,680 Speaker 1: I'm like, what does that mean that they keep saying respect? 708 00:36:33,680 --> 00:36:35,520 Speaker 1: They like they're showing you love. Like it's just saying, 709 00:36:35,560 --> 00:36:37,680 Speaker 1: you know, ship, that's that's a big deal for New 710 00:36:37,760 --> 00:36:40,680 Speaker 1: Yorker says that you respect. So I was like, okay, cool, 711 00:36:40,960 --> 00:36:44,040 Speaker 1: but it wasn't about the music, and and you know, 712 00:36:44,160 --> 00:36:47,080 Speaker 1: I kind of um, I kind of uh, you know, 713 00:36:47,160 --> 00:36:48,640 Speaker 1: I started hanging out in New York a little bit. 714 00:36:48,680 --> 00:36:51,040 Speaker 1: Man after a WI they love you in New York. 715 00:36:51,040 --> 00:36:52,480 Speaker 1: I don't know if you know that, but you know, 716 00:36:52,640 --> 00:37:00,400 Speaker 1: the whistle blow, the whistle come on. Getting in the 717 00:37:00,520 --> 00:37:04,120 Speaker 1: studios though in New York moving around, I didn't. I 718 00:37:04,160 --> 00:37:06,520 Speaker 1: didn't been on I've been on three jay Z albums, 719 00:37:06,560 --> 00:37:11,360 Speaker 1: two big albums. Going in was it was going in? 720 00:37:12,000 --> 00:37:14,520 Speaker 1: How did that first feel? Like? You know, Jay wanted 721 00:37:14,560 --> 00:37:16,480 Speaker 1: to mess with you. You're all the way on the 722 00:37:16,600 --> 00:37:18,839 Speaker 1: other side of the coast and he wanted I got 723 00:37:19,080 --> 00:37:21,880 Speaker 1: I got the B I G blessing the I G. 724 00:37:22,080 --> 00:37:25,279 Speaker 1: Just he was what you worked your big before, JA, 725 00:37:25,560 --> 00:37:28,239 Speaker 1: or do you work with big first? And then he 726 00:37:28,320 --> 00:37:30,120 Speaker 1: told me this ship. Man, he told me this ship 727 00:37:30,520 --> 00:37:32,839 Speaker 1: the first time I met him. He can't. He called 728 00:37:32,880 --> 00:37:34,560 Speaker 1: me over to a limo where was at the outcast 729 00:37:34,600 --> 00:37:40,840 Speaker 1: picnic and Limos was popping back, nig a limo right now? 730 00:37:40,880 --> 00:37:43,399 Speaker 1: If you fucked up, you put up in a limo. 731 00:37:43,760 --> 00:37:48,080 Speaker 1: Ain't nobody niggas Like who who's sucking Bob Dylan up 732 00:37:48,160 --> 00:37:51,040 Speaker 1: right now? That's all he said. Yeah, Like 740 00:38:09,040 --> 00:38:11,560 Speaker 1: what's up? So then a couple of years later, Niga 741 00:38:11,600 --> 00:38:13,520 Speaker 1: is a super making stuff. Okay, so um he 747 00:38:27,320 --> 00:38:28,600 Speaker 1: told me that ship and then a couple of years 748 00:38:28,680 --> 00:38:30,480 Speaker 1: later we're sitting on the tour of us spoken some weed. 749 00:38:30,800 --> 00:38:32,680 Speaker 1: He was like, you remember that time you came on 750 00:38:32,760 --> 00:38:34,920 Speaker 1: to the limits like you gotta love in Brooklyn? He 751 00:38:34,960 --> 00:38:37,320 Speaker 1: said that was me. I'm like, damn, you know, like 752 00:38:37,400 --> 00:38:39,920 Speaker 1: you know, like, oh, so he wasn't biggie when he 753 00:38:40,040 --> 00:38:41,879 Speaker 1: told you that. He probably was already had his deal 754 00:38:41,960 --> 00:38:46,279 Speaker 1: and ship. We're making songs. We did that Out of 760 00:38:58,320 --> 00:39:03,520 Speaker 1: the World is field Hose so too short? You keep 761 00:39:03,520 --> 00:39:06,200 Speaker 1: making me pop my collar the whole episode of making 762 00:39:06,239 --> 00:39:11,440 Speaker 1: your Sight. He was plaming Ship 770 00:39:32,440 --> 00:39:34,600 Speaker 1: like he listened all down South Ship and he was like, 771 00:39:34,640 --> 00:39:36,560 Speaker 1: I like him. I like Ship. So so he was 772 00:39:36,640 --> 00:39:39,040 Speaker 1: one of them cats who was open without any kind 773 00:39:39,080 --> 00:39:42,800 Speaker 1: of bias, and he um he wanted to work, like, 774 00:39:42,880 --> 00:39:44,480 Speaker 1: let's do a song. And then the way I did 775 00:39:44,560 --> 00:39:46,759 Speaker 1: this song with him and he sent Puffy to come 776 00:39:46,840 --> 00:39:49,040 Speaker 1: get me. He's a bullet. 782 00:40:01,000 --> 00:40:03,239 Speaker 1: This this is a funny story that Big came to 783 00:40:03,360 --> 00:40:06,960 Speaker 1: the Oakland and I think somebody took his chain. What year did you move? 790 00:40:33,800 --> 00:40:36,640 Speaker 1: Is that why they got strip clubs in Atlanta. I 791 00:40:36,719 --> 00:40:39,879 Speaker 1: didn't move to Atlanta for the music industry. I moved 792 00:40:39,880 --> 00:40:42,360 Speaker 1: to that motherfucker for the for the property, the culture 793 00:40:42,719 --> 00:40:44,840 Speaker 1: that I was. I was down there. It was it 794 00:40:44,960 --> 00:40:48,239 Speaker 1: was like easy math. It was real estate was like 795 00:40:48,520 --> 00:40:53,640 Speaker 1: one fourth of what California ship table dances at the 796 00:40:53,680 --> 00:40:58,920 Speaker 1: strip of how much in California that the ratio of 797 00:40:58,960 --> 00:41:02,360 Speaker 1: women and men was like on even one it was 798 00:41:02,400 --> 00:41:04,000 Speaker 1: going down and it was just it was like you 799 00:41:04,160 --> 00:41:06,399 Speaker 1: was the first person to crack the outlets, some noise 800 00:41:06,440 --> 00:41:09,880 Speaker 1: for him to crack the out you know. Now you 801 00:41:09,960 --> 00:41:12,080 Speaker 1: know who beat me? There was some things that beat me. 802 00:41:12,200 --> 00:41:14,120 Speaker 1: Eric Simon showed up like a little bit before me. 803 00:41:14,920 --> 00:41:19,880 Speaker 1: Bobby Brown. Bobby Brown was acting brown. He was atron 804 00:41:20,000 --> 00:41:22,600 Speaker 1: was sucking everything he was in that motherfucker I got 805 00:41:22,680 --> 00:41:27,040 Speaker 1: sucking everything. It was his prerogative, it was his proa man. 806 00:41:27,120 --> 00:41:30,400 Speaker 1: He was sucking everything. L A Read was 812 00:41:43,880 --> 00:41:45,560 Speaker 1: already and then he had the glove one when you 813 00:41:45,640 --> 00:41:48,680 Speaker 1: met him, nothing good. I don't know he were in 814 00:41:48,760 --> 00:41:51,239 Speaker 1: gloves or spikes and ship. He's a little different. He 815 00:41:51,600 --> 00:41:54,200 Speaker 1: was rocking ron Dallas back. And 1144 00:58:46,800 --> 00:58:49,240 Speaker 1: then get the memo the pimp correctly, and then I 1145 00:58:49,440 --> 00:58:51,760 Speaker 1: wanted to pass off, but she really didn't want to 1146 00:58:51,800 --> 00:58:54,640 Speaker 1: be back. That nigga he got about. He always got 1147 00:58:54,680 --> 00:58:56,680 Speaker 1: about five or six holes. His bitches gotta stare at 1148 00:58:56,720 --> 00:58:59,360 Speaker 1: the ground and can't look up that he now was 1149 00:58:59,440 --> 00:59:02,160 Speaker 1: what about like breaking down. It's kind of funny though, 1150 00:59:02,160 --> 00:59:05,720 Speaker 1: because his bitches are sitting somewhere, even when they sit down, 1151 00:59:05,800 --> 00:59:08,000 Speaker 1: the whole Chinese. They can never look up. They have 1152 00:59:08,120 --> 00:59:09,960 Speaker 1: to look at the ground, and they'd be sitting there 1153 00:59:10,000 --> 00:59:12,640 Speaker 1: talking to each other. And then if you dare like, 1154 00:59:12,680 --> 00:59:17,280 Speaker 1: you know, I'm a little crazy guy. So I just 1155 00:59:17,320 --> 00:59:18,640 Speaker 1: try to funk with him and break a little bit, 1156 00:59:18,760 --> 00:59:21,800 Speaker 1: like how y'all doing. They can't speak to no outside 1157 00:59:21,840 --> 00:59:26,480 Speaker 1: man nothing. They can't crazy. That's him out. That's just 1158 00:59:26,560 --> 00:59:28,560 Speaker 1: like you wearing your jury. He's wearing. He's showing you 1159 00:59:28,600 --> 00:59:30,680 Speaker 1: his pimpen. He's like I could have told him, bitches 1160 00:59:30,760 --> 00:59:32,080 Speaker 1: to look straight at here. I could have told him 1161 00:59:32,280 --> 00:59:35,640 Speaker 1: just the circle down, look that, don't never look up, 1162 00:59:35,680 --> 00:59:38,280 Speaker 1: don't talk to anybody except me or each other. I 1163 00:59:38,320 --> 00:59:40,480 Speaker 1: ain't gonna lie. And that's just just how I knew 1164 00:59:40,520 --> 00:59:43,360 Speaker 1: I I wasn't ready for Pippen because my white bitch 1165 00:59:43,440 --> 00:59:48,440 Speaker 1: did that. My white bitches just like she wouldn't say 1166 00:59:49,160 --> 00:59:51,840 Speaker 1: I was prim jews ring pimpen kid and they both 1167 00:59:51,880 --> 00:59:53,880 Speaker 1: accept to me and said, he said, you play. You 1168 00:59:53,880 --> 00:59:56,200 Speaker 1: don't know what you're doing right now. I said, like God, 1169 00:59:56,200 --> 00:59:58,760 Speaker 1: I would't main leave alone, and she just kept looking. 1170 00:59:59,000 --> 01:00:01,479 Speaker 1: That's how I knew she was more spread. Nigga pimp 1171 01:00:01,600 --> 01:00:04,680 Speaker 1: and nig have pamp game and are of it. We're doing. 1172 01:00:04,920 --> 01:00:08,400 Speaker 1: It's a difference pimping and having pimp game because I 1173 01:00:08,480 --> 01:00:10,480 Speaker 1: like the way you broke that's. Having pamp game means 1174 01:00:10,520 --> 01:00:12,200 Speaker 1: that I probably could apply it. But I'm just I'm 1175 01:00:12,200 --> 01:00:16,200 Speaker 1: doing another ship. I don't don't even stressful, man, stressful, 1176 01:00:16,240 --> 01:00:19,280 Speaker 1: break that down it Then you tell you're telling the 1177 01:00:19,320 --> 01:00:21,520 Speaker 1: woman to do the stuff she's doing. There are fucking 1178 01:00:21,600 --> 01:00:25,160 Speaker 1: like repercussions to that ship. Man, mentally, like if its 1179 01:00:25,480 --> 01:00:27,160 Speaker 1: people's heads up. So you what doing with that ship 1180 01:00:27,200 --> 01:00:29,720 Speaker 1: because you're telling them to go on the call and 1181 01:00:29,760 --> 01:00:31,560 Speaker 1: you're saying, don't funk with nobody with me. So when 1182 01:00:31,600 --> 01:00:33,640 Speaker 1: every time every emotion she goes through is coming to you. 1183 01:00:34,120 --> 01:00:37,040 Speaker 1: So let me ask you something. After they do that 1184 01:00:37,280 --> 01:00:40,080 Speaker 1: they give you the money, do you have to make 1185 01:00:40,160 --> 01:00:43,560 Speaker 1: them feel like your girlfriend? Like they gotta feel up, 1186 01:00:43,640 --> 01:00:45,920 Speaker 1: you gotta do they go, You gotta do this ship. 1187 01:00:46,320 --> 01:00:48,360 Speaker 1: It's a lot of ship. Like if you want to 1188 01:00:48,440 --> 01:00:50,400 Speaker 1: really actually your chick, if you want to be a 1189 01:00:50,480 --> 01:00:52,320 Speaker 1: boss pam you have to be focused. That's what you do. 1190 01:00:52,720 --> 01:00:55,520 Speaker 1: I've never heard this term because you say boss pamp. Yeah, 1191 01:00:55,560 --> 01:00:57,280 Speaker 1: that means you're in control. You want to on a 1192 01:00:57,400 --> 01:00:59,440 Speaker 1: run for a while. You got you can go to 1193 01:00:59,480 --> 01:01:02,400 Speaker 1: another state. But she's still You're still the boss pimper. 1194 01:01:02,480 --> 01:01:05,240 Speaker 1: You know. They called that long range pamper her anywhere, 1195 01:01:05,480 --> 01:01:11,440 Speaker 1: hold on, hold on long range paper. I heard a 1196 01:01:11,520 --> 01:01:14,280 Speaker 1: long rage five your hold me over there be like 1197 01:01:14,360 --> 01:01:18,920 Speaker 1: long range in Hawaii. Bring it down for me short, 1204 01:01:36,640 --> 01:01:39,480 Speaker 1: because I'm gonna let just called it the lame miss. You 1208 01:01:47,720 --> 01:01:49,080 Speaker 1: just you got the game to just run a bunch 1209 01:01:49,120 --> 01:01:50,960 Speaker 1: of chicks, but you don't want any interest in their 1210 01:01:51,000 --> 01:01:54,000 Speaker 1: money or them selling that you're just a player. Okay, 1211 01:01:54,640 --> 01:01:58,960 Speaker 1: get money, you're getting You're getting salad. Holy sniggers, hit me, 1231 01:02:59,080 --> 01:03:02,560 Speaker 1: hit me up in a taxi, abs and and just 1232 01:03:02,840 --> 01:03:04,560 Speaker 1: they had like we had to strap in the car 1233 01:03:04,720 --> 01:03:06,960 Speaker 1: and we gotta like a little answer week. We used 1234 01:03:06,960 --> 01:03:08,440 Speaker 1: to go up to him. We used to go up 1235 01:03:08,440 --> 01:03:10,720 Speaker 1: to the candy shop in Harlem and you know get 1236 01:03:10,800 --> 01:03:17,600 Speaker 1: they got called it the candy shop. Eddie looked first off, let me 1240 01:03:28,880 --> 01:03:31,040 Speaker 1: just let me just stop too short right now. He 1241 01:03:31,120 --> 01:03:34,360 Speaker 1: just fossed onto everybody on a real New York and 1242 01:03:34,520 --> 01:03:37,480 Speaker 1: this is the in the real New York Times. That was my nigger continuous story. 1245 01:03:51,440 --> 01:03:53,840 Speaker 1: So you know, we we we're riding around the ship 1246 01:03:53,920 --> 01:03:56,920 Speaker 1: and the niggas pull us over and these sucking taxi cabs, 1247 01:03:58,080 --> 01:04:01,480 Speaker 1: none of them got on uniforms, sucking up, flashing badges 1248 01:04:01,520 --> 01:04:04,280 Speaker 1: and ship. They actually take us out, put us. It's 1249 01:04:04,320 --> 01:04:06,360 Speaker 1: four niggas in the truck. They put each of us 1250 01:04:06,720 --> 01:04:08,880 Speaker 1: in a different cab. And I get in there, like 1251 01:04:08,960 --> 01:04:12,360 Speaker 1: three niggas in each cab. They jumped in my truck. 1252 01:04:12,520 --> 01:04:14,680 Speaker 1: Drive the motherfucker and we go to like some thirty 1253 01:04:14,760 --> 01:04:17,800 Speaker 1: seven street precincts, some ship somewhere every six thirty seven 1254 01:04:17,880 --> 01:04:25,120 Speaker 1: and and uh and then and they get ended up basically, 1255 01:04:25,120 --> 01:04:26,960 Speaker 1: and they ended up at a center street that one 1256 01:04:27,320 --> 01:04:33,040 Speaker 1: street down there, and I passed by a you was 1257 01:04:33,080 --> 01:04:35,720 Speaker 1: in the reel. That's the first first off, right now, 1258 01:04:36,000 --> 01:04:37,920 Speaker 1: if they lock you up up there, they have a 1259 01:04:38,040 --> 01:04:40,240 Speaker 1: preaching that they bring you to. That means that back 1260 01:04:40,280 --> 01:04:42,000 Speaker 1: in the days, they had to lock you up up 1261 01:04:42,040 --> 01:04:46,080 Speaker 1: there and bring you own. So, yeah, we're in there. 1262 01:04:46,560 --> 01:04:48,040 Speaker 1: Listen about a day and a half on the day. 1263 01:04:48,080 --> 01:04:51,240 Speaker 1: Then they got built out little later. But I walked 1264 01:04:51,280 --> 01:04:56,160 Speaker 1: by this one holding tank and I've seen these jet 1265 01:04:56,400 --> 01:04:59,760 Speaker 1: jet black ass niggers, like black ass nappy head niggas 1266 01:04:59,800 --> 01:05:03,920 Speaker 1: in and they're all speaking Spanish. And now this was 1267 01:05:04,040 --> 01:05:05,600 Speaker 1: like that ship weird to me, the funk out I 1268 01:05:06,040 --> 01:05:10,360 Speaker 1: didn't know. I thought they was black. I didn't, I didn't. Yeah, 1269 01:05:11,560 --> 01:05:13,640 Speaker 1: on the West coast, on the West coast, we got 1270 01:05:13,680 --> 01:05:18,080 Speaker 1: no nappy heads, don't have many. You don't see much yesterday, 1271 01:05:18,120 --> 01:05:20,560 Speaker 1: but yesterday's black under me. I'm saying, we don't have 1272 01:05:20,720 --> 01:05:24,640 Speaker 1: nappy head niggass, right, So I get back up, I 1273 01:05:24,720 --> 01:05:26,360 Speaker 1: get out of jail, I go up to drive records. 1274 01:05:26,360 --> 01:05:28,160 Speaker 1: I was like, I've seen the weirdest ship in jail. 1275 01:05:30,520 --> 01:05:38,960 Speaker 1: Speak Spanish here the Dominicans. That's too short, making goddamn 1276 01:05:40,840 --> 01:05:45,760 Speaker 1: hold on. After that, after that, I made a point, 1277 01:05:45,760 --> 01:05:47,520 Speaker 1: I said, I'm gonna meet some of these Spanish niggas, 1278 01:05:47,560 --> 01:05:51,120 Speaker 1: like for real. I meant that the Dominican niggas right 1279 01:05:51,680 --> 01:05:53,920 Speaker 1: at the gas chation and they popped at me. He was like, 1460 01:16:15,400 --> 01:16:17,840 Speaker 1: you know, actually a cool dude that he was being. 1461 01:16:18,360 --> 01:16:19,920 Speaker 1: I could see it that it was like a push 1462 01:16:20,000 --> 01:16:21,760 Speaker 1: kind of because then I actually kind of probably put 1463 01:16:21,800 --> 01:16:23,800 Speaker 1: a little weight, like you know, he didn't didn't. It 1464 01:16:23,920 --> 01:16:25,640 Speaker 1: wasn't no kind of threat, but he kind of like 1465 01:16:25,800 --> 01:16:27,439 Speaker 1: I felt a little weight. But I think it was 1466 01:16:27,520 --> 01:16:30,479 Speaker 1: like at the time he said it, so it's kind 1467 01:16:30,479 --> 01:16:32,320 Speaker 1: of pushing up on me a little bit, but in 1468 01:16:32,400 --> 01:16:35,880 Speaker 1: a friendly kind of way. And I just said, I 1469 01:16:36,040 --> 01:16:38,600 Speaker 1: was like, man, I ain't trying. I ain't trying to 1470 01:16:38,600 --> 01:16:40,439 Speaker 1: wrap no more. Man, I'm starting to leg what about 1471 01:16:40,439 --> 01:16:42,200 Speaker 1: to do my labor. That's where I'm at right now. 1472 01:16:42,200 --> 01:16:44,240 Speaker 1: I ain't trying to wrap no more. But you know, 1473 01:16:44,400 --> 01:16:47,519 Speaker 1: it was like nineteen nineties five or some ship. It's 1474 01:16:49,760 --> 01:16:52,439 Speaker 1: because I also heard jay Z try to sign you too. 1475 01:16:53,080 --> 01:16:55,080 Speaker 1: Now that Jay never tried to sign j J just 1476 01:16:55,200 --> 01:16:56,640 Speaker 1: was I was coming to do some work with him. 1477 01:16:56,760 --> 01:16:59,439 Speaker 1: Oh yeah, so that that room was false. He never 1478 01:16:59,479 --> 01:17:02,800 Speaker 1: tried to sign I probably would have probably probably would 1479 01:17:02,800 --> 01:17:04,160 Speaker 1: have went that route because just you know, just to 1480 01:17:04,200 --> 01:17:09,120 Speaker 1: be around. They respect you like a mother. Everybody respect you. Short. 1481 01:17:09,200 --> 01:17:11,200 Speaker 1: Just in case you don't know, let me let me 1482 01:17:11,280 --> 01:17:14,040 Speaker 1: just let me just tell you you are well respected, 1483 01:17:14,960 --> 01:17:19,240 Speaker 1: well connected. We love you. On the East coast to 1484 01:17:19,320 --> 01:17:24,360 Speaker 1: the West coast round man down south. You are a 1485 01:17:24,560 --> 01:17:28,720 Speaker 1: guy who laid out the platform for all of us 1486 01:17:28,800 --> 01:17:30,920 Speaker 1: to do it. You're still as cool as hell. I 1487 01:17:31,000 --> 01:17:33,320 Speaker 1: can't believe how cool you are. It was a motherfucker. 1488 01:17:33,720 --> 01:17:36,040 Speaker 1: I'm gonna be honest. When the interview is over, I'm 1489 01:17:36,080 --> 01:17:37,720 Speaker 1: just gonna ask you how can I be as cool 1490 01:17:37,800 --> 01:17:39,640 Speaker 1: as you? That's all I want to do, Like I 1491 01:17:39,720 --> 01:17:43,120 Speaker 1: want to ask you because you're the coolest guy. You're 1492 01:17:43,200 --> 01:17:47,840 Speaker 1: like how you do that? And you still love the game. 1493 01:17:48,200 --> 01:17:51,599 Speaker 1: I gotta keep asking you in different ways, like why 1494 01:17:51,640 --> 01:17:55,120 Speaker 1: would you were the guy to say selling? Man? I 1495 01:17:55,240 --> 01:17:56,800 Speaker 1: told you. I used to be in the studio with 1496 01:17:56,840 --> 01:17:59,120 Speaker 1: the o G my first studio experience with some old 1497 01:17:59,479 --> 01:18:02,439 Speaker 1: professional niggas. And these niggas had some of them, you know, 1498 01:18:02,640 --> 01:18:04,800 Speaker 1: was in it, some of them that came and went 1499 01:18:04,920 --> 01:18:06,400 Speaker 1: and you know that they talked about the days and 1500 01:18:06,439 --> 01:18:07,840 Speaker 1: they toured the world and it was in the band 1501 01:18:07,920 --> 01:18:10,680 Speaker 1: or whatever, and the niggas said, um. One of the 1502 01:18:10,760 --> 01:18:12,800 Speaker 1: niggas was one of the members of the Dramatics. He 1503 01:18:12,880 --> 01:18:14,560 Speaker 1: was one of the niggas, but he was one of 1504 01:18:14,560 --> 01:18:16,880 Speaker 1: the niggas that got kicked out the group. And he 1505 01:18:17,479 --> 01:18:20,120 Speaker 1: experienced a few hit records and and you know, the 1506 01:18:20,200 --> 01:18:22,000 Speaker 1: nigga tour and then and then the ship left him 1507 01:18:22,760 --> 01:18:26,240 Speaker 1: and he was like, man, he was like, dude, whatever 1508 01:18:26,320 --> 01:18:27,680 Speaker 1: you do. He was like, he said, I feel like 1509 01:18:27,720 --> 01:18:30,160 Speaker 1: you're gonna be somebody. And I kind of like took that 1512 01:18:35,560 --> 01:18:37,720 Speaker 1: ship life. I just kind of like took that ship 1513 01:18:37,800 --> 01:18:40,960 Speaker 1: and kind of adapted it in my own way that Okay, 1514 01:18:41,040 --> 01:18:43,360 Speaker 1: we're going on our first tour. Yeah, we did this 1619 01:24:01,120 --> 01:24:03,640 Speaker 1: day this day. I'm a father nigger like that. They 1620 01:24:03,840 --> 01:24:05,840 Speaker 1: asked me how many that guy be? Like four? And 1621 01:24:05,920 --> 01:24:08,560 Speaker 1: then when I show up it would be like like 1622 01:24:08,680 --> 01:24:13,320 Speaker 1: I said for I said for four hunters, like yeah, 1623 01:24:13,360 --> 01:24:15,680 Speaker 1: but too short, man. I can't thank you enough. So 1624 01:24:15,760 --> 01:24:18,599 Speaker 1: I'm coming out sitting down, you know, being a great 1625 01:24:18,640 --> 01:24:21,360 Speaker 1: sport about it. All this is about is just hip 1626 01:24:21,400 --> 01:24:24,519 Speaker 1: hop fans getting to understand and and and and hear 1627 01:24:24,600 --> 01:24:28,000 Speaker 1: these stories. But before you go, I want to say, 1628 01:24:28,040 --> 01:24:30,840 Speaker 1: how did you and eat forty? Everhead ook up because 1629 01:24:30,920 --> 01:24:38,320 Speaker 1: he's another yeah forty and because that's that's still your 1630 01:24:38,360 --> 01:24:40,519 Speaker 1: younger Homi. Yeah, I a little I got about a 1631 01:24:40,520 --> 01:24:45,800 Speaker 1: couple forty and his brother d Shot was in the game. 1632 01:24:45,840 --> 01:24:49,800 Speaker 1: They were treat niggas and you know, they dabbled, they 1633 01:24:50,080 --> 01:24:52,519 Speaker 1: they moved some way around. So that that's what that 1634 01:24:52,640 --> 01:24:56,799 Speaker 1: will mean. Learned something today. Let's makes ar something today, 1635 01:24:57,600 --> 01:25:00,639 Speaker 1: goddamn it. But I probably did a little more than Land. 1636 01:25:00,680 --> 01:25:04,559 Speaker 1: That was just damage, just playing. I was just trying 1637 01:25:04,560 --> 01:25:09,120 Speaker 1: to be a PC alright, ok. So um, they actually 1638 01:25:09,240 --> 01:25:11,639 Speaker 1: used to do business with my niggas who I wrote 1639 01:25:11,640 --> 01:25:13,400 Speaker 1: with to this day. My nigga niga is my niggas. 1640 01:25:13,760 --> 01:25:17,160 Speaker 1: They was they was Yxta's getting money together. So there's 1641 01:25:17,160 --> 01:25:19,640 Speaker 1: a thing in the bay where you kind of um, 1642 01:25:20,720 --> 01:25:22,960 Speaker 1: you know, we we're over here in Oakland, thirty miles 1643 01:25:23,040 --> 01:25:25,920 Speaker 1: over in Valetoff these Valetot niggas and these Oakland niggas 1644 01:25:25,960 --> 01:25:28,200 Speaker 1: is like, all right, we're gonna get down together. Then 1645 01:25:28,200 --> 01:25:32,240 Speaker 1: you got a city like Richmond, and yeah, so Richmond 1646 01:25:32,280 --> 01:25:34,840 Speaker 1: Nigga and Oakland nigs is like really funk with each other. 1647 01:25:35,160 --> 01:25:37,479 Speaker 1: No gangship, but it's just like we're just a little 1648 01:25:37,520 --> 01:25:39,360 Speaker 1: too wild to be friends because it never it never 1649 01:25:39,439 --> 01:25:41,439 Speaker 1: turns out good y'all too wild to be friends with us. 1650 01:25:41,439 --> 01:25:43,840 Speaker 1: We two out, so we kind of try to either 1651 01:25:43,880 --> 01:25:46,600 Speaker 1: avoid each other or it's just it's just it's just 1652 01:25:46,840 --> 01:25:50,719 Speaker 1: mani mani actions. So um. So valleto Nigga and Oakland 1653 01:25:50,760 --> 01:25:52,880 Speaker 1: nig has always been like kind of like sister city 1654 01:25:52,920 --> 01:25:55,560 Speaker 1: type ship. So we niggas fun with us, and E 1655 01:25:55,720 --> 01:25:57,880 Speaker 1: forty was my homie forever and ever and ever and ever. 1656 01:25:58,200 --> 01:25:59,960 Speaker 1: But we never made songs together. We just we were 1657 01:26:00,040 --> 01:26:02,280 Speaker 1: just homies. We're the same. We see each other, the clicks, 1658 01:26:02,360 --> 01:26:04,800 Speaker 1: everybody know each other, all these little brothers. I know 1659 01:26:04,880 --> 01:26:06,560 Speaker 1: his sister, I know the whole ship. Before we have 1660 01:26:06,640 --> 01:26:09,680 Speaker 1: made a song. And we did a concert one of 1661 01:26:09,720 --> 01:26:14,560 Speaker 1: those radio stations, Summer Jams, Summer Jam, Summer Jam, and 1662 01:26:14,640 --> 01:26:20,080 Speaker 1: the niggas. Um they had, uh you ever heard the loonies. Okay, 1663 01:26:20,160 --> 01:26:26,800 Speaker 1: so the loonies had, of course, loonies, my homies, my 1664 01:26:26,920 --> 01:26:30,960 Speaker 1: young homies. They come from the cloth man, they come 1665 01:26:31,040 --> 01:26:33,200 Speaker 1: from what I'm what I'm from the trinkle Down. The 1666 01:26:33,280 --> 01:26:35,439 Speaker 1: game the niggas put out their records was my homies, 1667 01:26:35,479 --> 01:26:37,519 Speaker 1: they love flag, he said to trinkle Down that was. 1668 01:26:38,360 --> 01:26:39,920 Speaker 1: I don't know what that means, but I'm gonna take it. 1669 01:26:43,800 --> 01:26:46,840 Speaker 1: They come from that. So um. So the Loonies had 1670 01:26:46,840 --> 01:26:48,760 Speaker 1: this song. I was called player hater, and they say 1671 01:26:48,840 --> 01:26:51,080 Speaker 1: they was mad at me about this whole story. I 1672 01:26:51,120 --> 01:26:52,560 Speaker 1: can't tell you. They was mad at me on some 1673 01:26:52,840 --> 01:26:56,120 Speaker 1: on some inside ship, and they said some ship about me. 1674 01:26:56,200 --> 01:26:58,680 Speaker 1: The song. They said, that's why the town got rid 1675 01:26:58,720 --> 01:27:00,880 Speaker 1: of short And they said it a year after I 1676 01:27:00,960 --> 01:27:03,599 Speaker 1: moved to Atlanta. So they insinuated and started this little 1677 01:27:03,640 --> 01:27:05,920 Speaker 1: buzz that maybe the Loonies was like, nigga, you gotta 1678 01:27:05,960 --> 01:27:07,679 Speaker 1: move out of town. Nigga, you can't be in Oakland 1679 01:27:07,720 --> 01:27:10,040 Speaker 1: no more. There's some ship. So I'm in Atlanta, having 1680 01:27:10,080 --> 01:27:12,759 Speaker 1: the time of my life, still mad as fucking this bullshit. 1681 01:27:13,400 --> 01:27:16,240 Speaker 1: So the radio station is holding what would be the 1682 01:27:16,320 --> 01:27:19,200 Speaker 1: hot ninety seven Summer Jazz. It's one of those, one 1683 01:27:19,200 --> 01:27:22,040 Speaker 1: of those six in Atlanta and in uh In in Oakland, 1684 01:27:22,280 --> 01:27:25,000 Speaker 1: in the Bay it's it's a K one on six 1685 01:27:25,320 --> 01:27:28,320 Speaker 1: summer Jam. And I'm I'm the nigga who the radio 1686 01:27:28,400 --> 01:27:31,200 Speaker 1: station came to when they first started doing summer Jam 1687 01:27:31,280 --> 01:27:33,360 Speaker 1: and said, hey, we need to like get some urban support. 1688 01:27:33,400 --> 01:27:35,120 Speaker 1: Can you be on the show. And I'm like, coo, 1689 01:27:35,160 --> 01:27:37,840 Speaker 1: I'm with you. So I'm like feeling like this kind 1690 01:27:37,840 --> 01:27:39,880 Speaker 1: of the supposed to be my friends. I helped these niggas. 1691 01:27:39,960 --> 01:27:43,599 Speaker 1: But there's a rock station turned into an urban station, 1692 01:27:43,720 --> 01:27:45,320 Speaker 1: and they asked niggas like me, can you come and 1693 01:27:45,400 --> 01:27:47,360 Speaker 1: help us? Went over the community. So I'm like that 1694 01:27:47,360 --> 01:27:49,840 Speaker 1: should means something. And they played this record and put 1695 01:27:49,880 --> 01:27:51,920 Speaker 1: in the rotation where it said that's why the town 1696 01:27:52,000 --> 01:27:56,360 Speaker 1: got rid of short one line and yeah, and I'm like, 1697 01:27:56,680 --> 01:27:58,519 Speaker 1: I'm like a nigga like this. I'm like, nigga, you 1698 01:27:58,560 --> 01:28:01,080 Speaker 1: don't it's not it's not it's zero disrespect. It's not 1699 01:28:01,120 --> 01:28:03,400 Speaker 1: gonna happen. It's just not. We don't walk away from 1700 01:28:03,439 --> 01:28:06,320 Speaker 1: this ship. I'm not gonna rap about you. So, nigga, 1701 01:28:06,439 --> 01:28:08,960 Speaker 1: something's gonna happen. So I called the radio station. I 1702 01:28:09,040 --> 01:28:11,280 Speaker 1: was like, yeah, I'm coming to the concert. They didn't 1703 01:28:11,280 --> 01:28:13,280 Speaker 1: want me on the show. Of course. They told me, 1704 01:28:13,800 --> 01:28:15,479 Speaker 1: you know, I moved to Atlanta. We kind of like 1705 01:28:15,560 --> 01:28:17,840 Speaker 1: supporting the local artists and ship you moved away. So 1706 01:28:17,920 --> 01:28:19,679 Speaker 1: I'm like, I just want to come to see the show. 1707 01:28:20,120 --> 01:28:25,160 Speaker 1: They gave me four sticker passes. Nigga. We rolled up 1708 01:28:25,200 --> 01:28:29,880 Speaker 1: there about sixty niggas, four niggas in, one nigga out, 1709 01:28:30,200 --> 01:28:32,680 Speaker 1: four more niggas in, one nigga out. He came up 1710 01:28:32,720 --> 01:28:44,760 Speaker 1: with three passes. Three yeah. Side. Before they realize what 1711 01:28:44,840 --> 01:28:47,639 Speaker 1: had happened, we sixty East Oakland niggas in the concert. 1712 01:28:47,760 --> 01:28:50,120 Speaker 1: No othensation. Were just in there, nigga, and we've been 1713 01:28:50,320 --> 01:28:53,439 Speaker 1: we're being real cool. We ain't got no problem, but 1714 01:28:53,479 --> 01:28:57,000 Speaker 1: it's sixty niggas, sixty grimey niggas, and I'm requesting ship. 1715 01:28:57,439 --> 01:28:59,720 Speaker 1: I'm like, Nigga, I need for y'all to walk me 1716 01:28:59,800 --> 01:29:02,200 Speaker 1: out on the stage and tell the crowd. Me and 1717 01:29:02,200 --> 01:29:04,200 Speaker 1: the Looney's gonna tell the crowd it ain't nune but loved, 1718 01:29:04,439 --> 01:29:06,640 Speaker 1: and we just it just had to happen. And they 1719 01:29:06,760 --> 01:29:08,040 Speaker 1: was like, oh, we're gonna do this and this and 1720 01:29:08,120 --> 01:29:10,080 Speaker 1: this and that, and they wouldn't do it. And I'm 1721 01:29:10,120 --> 01:29:13,240 Speaker 1: like the loonies was with it. They have the little homies. 1722 01:29:13,280 --> 01:29:16,080 Speaker 1: They they talked to your mouth. They walked up to 1723 01:29:16,160 --> 01:29:17,840 Speaker 1: us and they was like, man, what we gotta do whatever? 1724 01:29:17,920 --> 01:29:20,240 Speaker 1: The concert people wouldn't wouldn't let it happen. I'm like, 1725 01:29:21,360 --> 01:29:23,519 Speaker 1: we gotta kill this motherucking ship. Ain't nobody tell him 1726 01:29:23,520 --> 01:29:25,679 Speaker 1: what The Loonies is my enemies and we've running away 1727 01:29:25,680 --> 01:29:27,479 Speaker 1: and we're gonna just walk out and just say it's 1728 01:29:27,600 --> 01:29:30,000 Speaker 1: just love. That's all I wanted to tell the people. 1729 01:29:30,760 --> 01:29:32,120 Speaker 1: And it was like, no, I wouldn't do it. So 1730 01:29:33,840 --> 01:29:36,599 Speaker 1: we we said that let me let us how the manager, 1731 01:29:36,720 --> 01:29:39,679 Speaker 1: the manager nigga, my nigga sees my nigga is my homie, 1732 01:29:40,360 --> 01:29:42,240 Speaker 1: and we went in this back room were supposed to 1733 01:29:42,240 --> 01:29:45,080 Speaker 1: be hollering, and one of the concert promoters, we're back there, 1734 01:29:45,120 --> 01:29:48,639 Speaker 1: and then the ship get out of hand. Thinks lumped 1735 01:29:48,720 --> 01:29:52,200 Speaker 1: up the Looney's manager a little bit, and we didn't 1736 01:29:52,200 --> 01:29:54,760 Speaker 1: know this is what was going through. So then they 1737 01:29:54,880 --> 01:29:56,800 Speaker 1: got lumped up and curled all up and ship and 1738 01:29:56,840 --> 01:29:58,560 Speaker 1: all this ship and it wasn't even really asked for. 1739 01:29:58,560 --> 01:30:03,240 Speaker 1: It was just like a blue blue blue Mr bullshit. 1740 01:30:04,240 --> 01:30:05,920 Speaker 1: So we walked out. Now we got the mob. The 1741 01:30:06,000 --> 01:30:08,640 Speaker 1: mob is not satisfied. They like kind of hungry. And 1742 01:30:08,680 --> 01:30:10,160 Speaker 1: then we walked through the crowd and we're just like, 1743 01:30:10,240 --> 01:30:13,240 Speaker 1: we're not doing nothing to nobody, but we're just not 1744 01:30:13,520 --> 01:30:16,400 Speaker 1: happy and we're kind of moving around. And then just 1745 01:30:16,680 --> 01:30:18,759 Speaker 1: we went and we went and took a little section 1746 01:30:18,800 --> 01:30:20,400 Speaker 1: and then you know, you could make niggas like to 1747 01:30:20,560 --> 01:30:22,800 Speaker 1: take their ship. We took a little section. We're gonna 1748 01:30:22,800 --> 01:30:24,960 Speaker 1: watch the next act. Somebody come on the scene. And 1749 01:30:25,040 --> 01:30:27,600 Speaker 1: then everybody that was just the powers that be just 1750 01:30:27,760 --> 01:30:30,160 Speaker 1: didn't like what they saw. They just didn't like it 1751 01:30:30,240 --> 01:30:32,799 Speaker 1: that they just it was just nervousness, and they canceled 1752 01:30:32,800 --> 01:30:35,240 Speaker 1: the show. They canceled. And 1759 01:30:56,920 --> 01:30:58,880 Speaker 1: they went and totally, nigger, we canceled you because it's 1760 01:30:58,880 --> 01:31:02,920 Speaker 1: too short. The show was probably like Saturday or Sunday. 1775 01:31:46,479 --> 01:31:50,719 Speaker 1: Monday morning comes the radio station does a fake caller 1776 01:31:51,240 --> 01:31:54,519 Speaker 1: pretended to be too short, and the nigga calls up. 1777 01:31:54,560 --> 01:31:56,960 Speaker 1: It's like, nig nigga, niggas didn't want to let me 1778 01:31:57,000 --> 01:31:59,840 Speaker 1: on stage. Nigga, I don't given it was forty one 1779 01:32:00,000 --> 01:32:01,640 Speaker 1: house and short, don't get on stay no way. The 1780 01:32:01,760 --> 01:32:05,000 Speaker 1: niggas calling talking ship on the morning show phone start 1781 01:32:06,280 --> 01:32:09,280 Speaker 1: this way was probably going by then, Okay, cool, and 1782 01:32:09,400 --> 01:32:12,280 Speaker 1: they're doing this joke. But at the same time, it's 1783 01:32:12,280 --> 01:32:15,120 Speaker 1: a bit down there. That's the program director or something. 1784 01:32:15,200 --> 01:32:17,960 Speaker 1: This bitch is sending out factors and emails saying too 1785 01:32:18,040 --> 01:32:21,519 Speaker 1: short is violent Bannon nigga from Wrap and don't ever 1786 01:32:21,600 --> 01:32:24,160 Speaker 1: play his music, all kinds of ships. So I'm like 1787 01:32:24,720 --> 01:32:27,519 Speaker 1: trying to blackball. So I'm like, I'm taking this ship personal. 1788 01:32:27,600 --> 01:32:29,560 Speaker 1: Then then the fucking phone rings. I don't even know 1789 01:32:29,600 --> 01:32:30,920 Speaker 1: the ship was on the air. I don't even know. 1790 01:32:31,400 --> 01:32:33,720 Speaker 1: E forty called me. He was like, Nigga, was you 1791 01:32:33,760 --> 01:32:36,320 Speaker 1: on the radio? This morning. I'm like, no, nigga. He's like, Nigga, 1792 01:32:36,320 --> 01:32:38,439 Speaker 1: you didn't do to say such something. I'm like no, man. 1793 01:32:38,880 --> 01:32:41,840 Speaker 1: So the niggas like we stand up niggas. Nigga said, 1794 01:32:41,920 --> 01:32:43,880 Speaker 1: so you're telling me you didn't all the radio sing 1795 01:32:43,920 --> 01:32:46,759 Speaker 1: and say, I said, Nigga, I don't know. He said, okay, 1796 01:32:47,040 --> 01:32:48,760 Speaker 1: and then he started spending the game to theft. He's 1797 01:32:48,800 --> 01:32:50,760 Speaker 1: a real game, that nigga. So he started spending like 1798 01:32:50,840 --> 01:32:53,320 Speaker 1: the radio stations trying to play games with us, blah blah, 1799 01:32:53,360 --> 01:32:55,439 Speaker 1: this and that. He's like, man, these folks, you know, 1800 01:32:55,600 --> 01:32:57,519 Speaker 1: we start talking about how much money he spent on 1801 01:32:57,640 --> 01:32:59,559 Speaker 1: his set. They didn't get into the show, and they 1802 01:32:59,640 --> 01:33:01,920 Speaker 1: personally told him it's too short fall. He was like, man, 1803 01:33:01,960 --> 01:33:03,680 Speaker 1: we're not finn turnus in the name because we know 1804 01:33:03,760 --> 01:33:06,200 Speaker 1: who we are. Your niggas mind niggas. We know we're 1805 01:33:06,240 --> 01:33:08,160 Speaker 1: not gonna do that. He said, let's get in the 1806 01:33:08,160 --> 01:33:10,240 Speaker 1: studio and make some music. We made a song called 1807 01:33:10,320 --> 01:33:13,160 Speaker 1: rappers Ball, and it's like it was like a big 1808 01:33:13,200 --> 01:33:15,479 Speaker 1: record for that's the first record we ever made, and 1809 01:33:15,760 --> 01:33:18,720 Speaker 1: big city, big record for the Bay. Yeah, it was. 1810 01:33:18,800 --> 01:33:21,679 Speaker 1: It was huge and it went everywhere and and basically 1811 01:33:22,080 --> 01:33:25,200 Speaker 1: the ship of of of you know, corporate type structure 1812 01:33:25,200 --> 01:33:27,280 Speaker 1: of motherfucker's in the office room. Trying to play some 1813 01:33:27,360 --> 01:33:29,599 Speaker 1: real niggas against each other kind of made us tighter 1814 01:33:29,640 --> 01:33:31,800 Speaker 1: than we've ever been, and we kind of we were 1815 01:33:31,840 --> 01:33:34,160 Speaker 1: we were cool as fun. But after that, we made 1816 01:33:34,240 --> 01:33:36,800 Speaker 1: record after record after record. We started talking on the 1817 01:33:36,840 --> 01:33:39,120 Speaker 1: phone every other day. Were kind of like walking each 1818 01:33:39,160 --> 01:33:41,439 Speaker 1: other through each other's albums and ship. Niggers don't know, 1819 01:33:42,479 --> 01:33:44,280 Speaker 1: we was on drive and we never really dropped in 1820 01:33:44,320 --> 01:33:49,559 Speaker 1: the same quarter. So we would be like both we'd 1821 01:33:49,600 --> 01:33:52,840 Speaker 1: be critiquing each other's albums while we're making them. I'm like, yeah, 1822 01:33:52,840 --> 01:33:55,600 Speaker 1: you're feeling hit him hard and hell yeah, like and 1823 01:33:55,680 --> 01:33:57,920 Speaker 1: then I'm listening to him going, shoot, I gotta get 1824 01:33:57,920 --> 01:34:00,720 Speaker 1: there and go hard because about to knock me off, 1825 01:34:00,800 --> 01:34:04,160 Speaker 1: you know. So we kind of being friends and competitors, 1826 01:34:04,200 --> 01:34:07,280 Speaker 1: we kind of held each other down on keeping it 1827 01:34:07,439 --> 01:34:10,960 Speaker 1: keeping that ship hardcore, Like like wow, real, So before 1828 01:34:11,000 --> 01:34:12,800 Speaker 1: we get up out of here, was you in the 1829 01:34:12,920 --> 01:34:16,720 Speaker 1: session with Big when you made the record? When the 1830 01:34:16,800 --> 01:34:19,760 Speaker 1: Rimmys in my system, ain't no telling that I was 1831 01:34:19,800 --> 01:34:22,000 Speaker 1: in the room. I was in the room, and it 1832 01:34:22,160 --> 01:34:25,000 Speaker 1: was in the room. Yeah, that's when the legs was hurting. 1833 01:34:25,000 --> 01:34:28,280 Speaker 1: Should he be sitting down and wrapping and ship? Hell? Yeah? 1834 01:34:28,479 --> 01:34:31,360 Speaker 1: And then how about with Jay did y'all sitting up session? 1835 01:34:31,840 --> 01:34:34,320 Speaker 1: I did that session with Jay. It was all good. 1836 01:34:34,439 --> 01:34:37,680 Speaker 1: Just a week ago I did that ship Um, I 1837 01:34:37,800 --> 01:34:40,439 Speaker 1: did the other song I re member. And I don't know if you felt 1901 01:38:00,560 --> 01:38:02,040 Speaker 1: it when he was on the phone, but I kept 1902 01:38:02,080 --> 01:38:07,280 Speaker 1: going like this heard it? You know, 2013 01:43:35,520 --> 01:43:37,640 Speaker 1: just like anything you do, you become an expert. You know, 2014 01:43:37,880 --> 01:43:41,160 Speaker 1: it's just it's in you. It's in you, ye right now. 2015 01:43:41,360 --> 01:43:43,000 Speaker 1: I love the art of it. But it's not in me. 2016 01:43:43,040 --> 01:43:45,920 Speaker 1: I don't have the pimp powers passion that you see 2017 01:43:46,000 --> 01:43:48,360 Speaker 1: me for hip hop the music in the last show, 2018 01:43:48,720 --> 01:43:52,320 Speaker 1: and I don't have that passion for pimping. But you 2019 01:43:52,439 --> 01:43:54,800 Speaker 1: had the passion more for hip hop than pimper. I 2020 01:43:54,880 --> 01:43:57,680 Speaker 1: love the art of the pimp game. It's a beautiful thing. 2021 01:43:57,760 --> 01:44:02,719 Speaker 1: If you you know what is the best profession after pimping, 2022 01:44:03,280 --> 01:44:07,320 Speaker 1: if you've been a pimp? Rapping? No? Hell no, what 2023 01:44:07,640 --> 01:44:13,439 Speaker 1: what I'm saying, thank you? That's what most pimps they start. Yeah. Now, 2031 01:44:45,920 --> 01:44:49,000 Speaker 1: Let's say, throughout your life, the way you learned how 2032 01:44:49,040 --> 01:44:51,320 Speaker 1: to be a pimp was that you figured I have 2033 01:44:51,439 --> 01:44:53,720 Speaker 1: the gift the gap. You told that to yourself. The 2034 01:44:53,760 --> 01:44:56,759 Speaker 1: gift to Gap is your main weapon, and pimping, unless 2035 01:44:56,760 --> 01:44:59,760 Speaker 1: you're grill with him, sounds like is the punch of 2036 01:45:00,040 --> 01:45:03,000 Speaker 1: facing the big as you as you stare in the 2037 01:45:03,200 --> 01:45:05,960 Speaker 1: ugly face of pimping you see a fucking hole die 2038 01:45:06,040 --> 01:45:10,040 Speaker 1: on the job or some ship murdered or junkie hole overdose, 2039 01:45:10,120 --> 01:45:11,880 Speaker 1: is just the bitch life get sucked off and she 2040 01:45:12,000 --> 01:45:14,160 Speaker 1: ended up in prison you never see again, like you know, 2041 01:45:14,320 --> 01:45:16,679 Speaker 1: just the the ugly side of the ship, the ship 2042 01:45:16,840 --> 01:45:18,519 Speaker 1: that the ship that sucks you up in the head 2043 01:45:18,600 --> 01:45:20,800 Speaker 1: because you've seen how you took this little innocent girl 2044 01:45:20,840 --> 01:45:24,080 Speaker 1: who was a waitress, and you see what she ended 2045 01:45:24,120 --> 01:45:25,560 Speaker 1: up being, and you're like, damn, how am I in 2046 01:45:25,640 --> 01:45:28,040 Speaker 1: the eyes of God if I did this to her? 2047 01:45:28,320 --> 01:45:30,200 Speaker 1: And you start feeling like a sucking monster, like it 2048 01:45:30,240 --> 01:45:33,280 Speaker 1: ain't for everybody in the long run. So what do 2049 01:45:33,400 --> 01:45:36,080 Speaker 1: you do? You you fucking step to the light and 2050 01:45:36,160 --> 01:45:39,280 Speaker 1: you go to the church and you start really realizing 2051 01:45:39,320 --> 01:45:41,519 Speaker 1: that damn, I've been walking the wrong path. And then 2052 01:45:41,520 --> 01:45:45,360 Speaker 1: you end up being a fucking preacher later. But the 2053 01:45:45,479 --> 01:45:47,360 Speaker 1: main thing is why are you a good preacher? Because 2054 01:45:47,400 --> 01:45:53,519 Speaker 1: from day one you had to give the gap. It 2055 01:45:53,560 --> 01:45:55,760 Speaker 1: ain't like if if a pimp turn preacher, he's not 2056 01:45:55,960 --> 01:45:58,160 Speaker 1: he's not being wicked, or he's not. He might just 2057 01:45:58,280 --> 01:46:00,479 Speaker 1: really had went that path where he looked at that 2058 01:46:00,640 --> 01:46:04,680 Speaker 1: ugly ship and he went the other way. Some of 2059 01:46:04,720 --> 01:46:06,599 Speaker 1: them might be wicked. Yeah, it might be, but I'm 2060 01:46:06,640 --> 01:46:08,600 Speaker 1: just saying that this money, I don't want to be 2061 01:46:08,680 --> 01:46:11,080 Speaker 1: just a ship where it real ship, though that ship 2062 01:46:11,160 --> 01:46:13,080 Speaker 1: gets uggly. I I know a church boy right now 2063 01:46:13,400 --> 01:46:15,160 Speaker 1: that pimped his ass off. And the only reason he's 2064 01:46:15,160 --> 01:46:17,040 Speaker 1: a church boy because it's because when he saw Pivin 2065 01:46:17,640 --> 01:46:20,439 Speaker 1: fucked him up. Let's make some noise for the ship 2066 01:46:20,520 --> 01:46:29,160 Speaker 1: that sucked him up. I was playing the wrong game 2092 01:47:51,080 --> 01:47:56,519 Speaker 1: for a long time. Yeah you're sure. Thank you so 2093 01:47:56,640 --> 01:47:58,639 Speaker 1: much for being a great sport and going down here 2094 01:47:59,439 --> 01:48:03,000 Speaker 1: having us. Man look a little I'm just saying, it 2095 01:48:03,080 --> 01:48:05,000 Speaker 1: look like I had Carroson right there. It looked like 2096 01:48:05,040 --> 01:48:09,200 Speaker 1: you're drinking on my tie. It's not it looks like Yo, sure, 2097 01:48:09,400 --> 01:48:13,080 Speaker 1: thank you so much, my brother. Easy on the pimping, y'all, 2098 01:48:13,120 --> 01:48:16,920 Speaker 1: easy on the No, you're gonna responsibility like I want to. 2099 01:48:17,680 --> 01:48:20,760 Speaker 1: I'm gonna pimp. I'm gonna pimp, like pip your dogs 2100 01:48:20,840 --> 01:48:23,240 Speaker 1: first before you go up. After that, I'm gonna I'm 2101 01:48:23,240 --> 01:48:25,240 Speaker 1: gonna pimp like in my mind. I'm gonna have Short 2102 01:48:26,280 --> 01:48:28,560 Speaker 1: run me through it in my mind and then maybe no, 2103 01:48:28,720 --> 01:48:31,880 Speaker 1: I'm never gonna try. I'm never gonna try. But at 2104 01:48:31,920 --> 01:48:34,280 Speaker 1: least at least Short taught me tak you Short, man. 2105 01:48:34,320 --> 01:48:37,799 Speaker 1: I really appreciate it. Man. Every time my person say bitch, 2106 01:48:38,479 --> 01:48:43,200 Speaker 1: how did that happen? Before we get out of her word, 2107 01:48:44,600 --> 01:48:46,880 Speaker 1: I showed you. I had a rap partner, Freddie b. 2108 01:48:47,880 --> 01:48:49,960 Speaker 1: So we tried to do everything that the streets do, 2109 01:48:50,720 --> 01:48:54,120 Speaker 1: and the streets was doing a lot of drugs. So 2110 01:48:54,240 --> 01:48:56,160 Speaker 1: we used to do these little skits before the songs 2111 01:48:56,200 --> 01:48:59,040 Speaker 1: are just like either acting like gangsters or just slick 2112 01:48:59,120 --> 01:49:00,960 Speaker 1: talking things. And one of the skids we used to 2113 01:49:01,000 --> 01:49:04,760 Speaker 1: do was, uh was about to say this chick um 2114 01:49:06,160 --> 01:49:08,960 Speaker 1: she was a be So we pretended like like we're 2115 01:49:09,000 --> 01:49:12,000 Speaker 1: smoking crack cocaine. But wait, wait, but this was not 2116 01:49:12,120 --> 01:49:14,560 Speaker 1: crack back but the crack cocaine at one point that 2117 01:49:14,720 --> 01:49:17,280 Speaker 1: was not crack. We sprinkled a little bit in the joints. 2118 01:49:17,320 --> 01:49:19,120 Speaker 1: But now we're not gonna hit the point you did 2119 01:49:19,280 --> 01:49:21,439 Speaker 1: hit the huge Did that should tastes good? It was? 2120 01:49:21,560 --> 01:49:24,439 Speaker 1: It was crazy. Don't let it take you down. But 2121 01:49:24,560 --> 01:49:27,880 Speaker 1: look at that stuff so dirties back then, it wasn't 2122 01:49:28,000 --> 01:49:30,719 Speaker 1: When we was wrapping it the early eighties, it wasn't crack. 2123 01:49:31,120 --> 01:49:33,600 Speaker 1: It was called freebasing, and it was only it was 2124 01:49:33,640 --> 01:49:36,360 Speaker 1: only fly people did that. He was if he was 2125 01:49:36,760 --> 01:49:39,880 Speaker 1: showing off rich, motherfucking you free base. That was the 2126 01:49:39,880 --> 01:49:42,600 Speaker 1: ship that burned rich and that that was that was 2127 01:49:42,680 --> 01:49:44,519 Speaker 1: in the pipe, or that was that It was the 2128 01:49:44,560 --> 01:49:46,679 Speaker 1: same thing. It was the same thing as a crackhead. 2129 01:49:46,680 --> 01:49:48,800 Speaker 1: It was smoking the pipe. But when it first came out, 2130 01:49:48,880 --> 01:49:51,280 Speaker 1: it came out as an elegant thing that only rich 2131 01:49:51,320 --> 01:49:53,360 Speaker 1: people did. Hey we're about to go smoke. It was like, 2132 01:49:53,680 --> 01:49:58,360 Speaker 1: this is the upgrade from cocaine rich people. Free basing 2133 01:49:58,800 --> 01:50:02,679 Speaker 1: was something that people openly said, we're freebasing, but cracking 2134 01:50:02,760 --> 01:50:04,320 Speaker 1: something when you turn to a crackhead. That was the 2135 01:50:04,600 --> 01:50:07,559 Speaker 1: same fucking ship. But it just had a different, different 2136 01:50:07,560 --> 01:50:11,000 Speaker 1: time and era. So we used to mimic Freemason. So 2137 01:50:11,200 --> 01:50:12,519 Speaker 1: we would sit there and be like, you know, the 2138 01:50:12,560 --> 01:50:14,960 Speaker 1: bitchry like hit, I hit this baby, like you know 2139 01:50:15,120 --> 01:50:16,600 Speaker 1: the tape is about to come on, the music coming on. 2140 01:50:16,640 --> 01:50:18,400 Speaker 1: We're doing the skip for it. Come on like this, 2141 01:50:18,560 --> 01:50:21,599 Speaker 1: hit and hit and say like I wannafuck choking ship 2142 01:50:21,760 --> 01:50:24,559 Speaker 1: and then uh, like, bitch, you're hitting, you're smoking too much. 2143 01:50:24,920 --> 01:50:27,920 Speaker 1: And then uh and then my man like somebody being 2144 01:50:27,960 --> 01:50:30,320 Speaker 1: there doing the girls waste or whatever, and then and 2145 01:50:30,360 --> 01:50:34,920 Speaker 1: then it shouldn't be like like like bits like that's 2146 01:50:34,960 --> 01:50:37,920 Speaker 1: where the god we did that skits for crack making 2147 01:50:38,160 --> 01:50:44,840 Speaker 1: making up the bed, crack, cocaine gets something world get 2148 01:50:44,920 --> 01:50:46,800 Speaker 1: so many times that the bitch just keep getting longer 2149 01:50:46,880 --> 01:50:49,280 Speaker 1: and longer and longer until it was just like bit 2150 01:50:49,840 --> 01:50:52,759 Speaker 1: and is that your favorite word? It really is my favorite. 2151 01:50:55,160 --> 01:50:56,840 Speaker 1: Look at this, they're got a rude awaken it up, 2152 01:50:56,840 --> 01:50:59,120 Speaker 1: because I wouldn't looked at some old dollar miite movies 2153 01:51:02,520 --> 01:51:06,800 Speaker 1: wait for you, but you're doing a hip hop.
