So he's obviously a 0:03:50.400 --> 0:03:53.000 complete hypocrite. But you know, as we look at some 0:03:53.000 --> 0:03:56.880 of these mandates impacting companies with over huttered employees, federal 0:03:56.920 --> 0:04:01.240 workers and contractors as well as healthcare workers, are these 0:04:01.280 --> 0:04:03.880 actions legal? Well, first of all, you bring up a 0:04:03.920 --> 0:04:06.440 really good point that the fact that they are lecturing 0:04:06.600 --> 0:04:09.920 us and trying to force Americans take a vaccine he's 0:04:09.920 --> 0:04:12.560 been lecturing, the president been lecturing is about maths. How how much of do you think the 0:06:07.000 --> 0:06:10.560 state's problems fighting COVID are are because of open borders? 0:06:10.720 --> 0:06:13.760 You know what, I would say very likely significant because 0:06:13.800 --> 0:06:17.320 there's so many people coming across the border and it's 0:06:17.400 --> 0:06:20.120 uncontrollable for us because we don't know where the president 0:06:20.160 --> 0:06:22.440 is going to send these people. I was talking to 0:06:22.520 --> 0:06:24.919 some police officers in Dallas and they said they were, 0:06:25.040 --> 0:06:26.640 you know, out in their patrols and they could see 0:06:26.640 --> 0:06:29.120 these buses coming in at night. They let people out. 0:06:29.400 --> 0:06:33.120 They're not detained, they just disappear. And that's happening, you know, 0:06:33.240 --> 0:06:35.920 all of our state. I'm sure it's happening to Florida. UM. 0:06:36.040 --> 0:06:38.800 So we can't even know. That's how bad it is 0:06:38.800 --> 0:06:41.800 for us. The President doesn't help us, know, doesn't seem 0:06:41.800 --> 0:06:44.720 to really care, and so we're stuck with the consequences. 0:06:44.720 --> 0:06:46.800 I don't think we'll ever know exactly what percentage, but 0:06:46.839 --> 0:06:49.559 it certainly isn't helping well. And of course this all comes as we're importing, 0:07:38.800 --> 0:07:41.640 you know, untold numbers of Afghans as well to the 0:07:41.720 --> 0:07:44.400 United States, likely unvetted as well. So we not only 0:07:44.400 --> 0:07:47.760 have a wide open, poorest border, but we're also importing 0:07:47.840 --> 0:07:52.080 potential terrorists also some good people, but potential terrorists as well, uh, 0:07:52.160 --> 0:07:54.920 into the country, all unvetted, which you know, to your 0:07:54.960 --> 0:07:58.000 point is a is a huge, huge national security issue 0:07:58.440 --> 0:08:00.240 for our country, you know, sir, I want to get 0:08:00.280 --> 0:08:04.040 into you know, the new abortion law in this state. 0:08:04.440 --> 0:08:08.640 There was a doctor named Dr Allen Brain who has 0:08:08.680 --> 0:08:10.680 an O B G y N for San Antonio. He 0:08:10.720 --> 0:08:13.520 wrote an op ed in The Washington Post recently bragging 0:08:13.720 --> 0:08:18.320 about violating the law and performing an abortion. He says 0:08:18.600 --> 0:08:21.080 a woman has a fundamental right to receive this care. 0:08:21.320 --> 0:08:24.560 What's your response to this doctor and his violation of 0:08:24.600 --> 0:08:28.040 the state's law. Look, he's certainly opened himself up because 0:08:28.320 --> 0:08:31.160 it is an abolition state law, and now the enforcement 0:08:31.240 --> 0:08:34.800 isn't from the state. Any any individual can can sue, 0:08:35.320 --> 0:08:38.520 and so he can he can be sued civilly. And 0:08:39.040 --> 0:08:42.040 if if he's bragging about it, he's basically providing the 0:08:42.120 --> 0:08:44.040 evidence that someone would need to show at least that 0:08:44.120 --> 0:08:49.520 a harmless done and then open himself for for potential 0:08:49.880 --> 0:08:53.599 major damages. So no, I mean he's flaunting it, and 0:08:53.920 --> 0:08:55.840 maybe he's inviting the laws that he wants to be 0:08:55.880 --> 0:08:59.160 the first one suit. Well, and what makes this law 0:09:01.600 --> 0:09:03.320 different than some of the other states is what you 0:09:03.400 --> 0:09:06.720 just mentioned, is it relies on civil not criminal enforcement. 0:09:06.800 --> 0:09:10.000 Talk about the significance of that and why that's the 0:09:10.040 --> 0:09:12.440 case and why it's different in some other states. Well, 0:09:12.440 --> 0:09:16.360 I mean this was uh put forth by our legislature 0:09:16.480 --> 0:09:19.280 in the last session, which was last spring. Um, I 0:09:19.280 --> 0:09:21.000 think they were trying to take it out of the 0:09:21.000 --> 0:09:23.520 states and and put it, you know, open the course 0:09:23.640 --> 0:09:26.640 up to to for lawsuits, just like they do with 0:09:26.679 --> 0:09:30.200 all other all different kinds of causes of action. So 0:09:30.240 --> 0:09:32.720 the courts can be open for any type of cause 0:09:32.760 --> 0:09:35.360 of that cause of actions of the legislature teams um 0:09:35.640 --> 0:09:39.520 worthy of allowing people to seek redress for a harm 0:09:39.559 --> 0:09:42.840 and so it just for some reason that that particular 0:09:42.960 --> 0:09:45.920 route had never really been opened up to individuals. I 0:09:45.960 --> 0:09:47.600 think it was a pretty creative way to handle it. 0:09:47.679 --> 0:09:50.640 And it takes the state out of having to having 0:09:50.640 --> 0:09:54.320 to deal with prosecutions because in some in our states 0:09:54.559 --> 0:09:58.400 the das wouldn't prosecute it anyway. So it is pretty 0:09:58.400 --> 0:09:59.719 smart move. It took it out of the the hands of 0:09:59.800 --> 0:10:01.720 the district attorneys and put it into the hands of 0:10:02.280 --> 0:10:06.840 individual citizens to bring their their own claim. Quick commercial 0:10:06.840 --> 0:10:09.200 break and then I have more questions for the Attorney 0:10:09.200 --> 0:10:20.760 General of Texas, Kent Paxxton. So you have taken on 0:10:21.120 --> 0:10:24.079 big tech, and there's also a law coming through the 0:10:24.120 --> 0:10:28.960 pipe in Texas that requires social media companies to disclose 0:10:29.040 --> 0:10:32.040 how and why they moderate content. It also give Texans 0:10:32.400 --> 0:10:35.040 the ability to sue it they're wrongfully censored. And you, 0:10:35.600 --> 0:10:38.160 as the attorney general the power to sue companies tech 0:10:38.240 --> 0:10:41.840 companies on behalf of groups of users. How would a 0:10:41.880 --> 0:10:46.120 law like this impact or fight against social media and 0:10:46.160 --> 0:10:48.400 some of the censorship we've seen. And how much impact 0:10:48.400 --> 0:10:50.840 can individual states have on this issue? You know what, 0:10:50.960 --> 0:10:54.480 I think big states really all states eventually can start 0:10:54.520 --> 0:10:56.800 having impact on this. I think big states in particular, 0:10:57.280 --> 0:11:00.520 especially the other states, see what we're doing. States like 0:11:00.559 --> 0:11:03.679 Florida have I think some good legislatures state passed relating 0:11:03.720 --> 0:11:07.560 to these social media tech companies. In addition, we have 0:11:08.160 --> 0:11:10.600 UH in Texas. We have a pretty major lawsuit against 0:11:10.600 --> 0:11:16.480 Google as a as a monopolistic UH company. We think 0:11:16.480 --> 0:11:20.559 we've got a very good chance of affecting how they operate. Um, 0:11:20.600 --> 0:11:22.440 it's just gonna take longer. And so I like the 0:11:22.440 --> 0:11:25.439 fact that the legislature is giving individuals an opportunity to 0:11:25.480 --> 0:11:28.400 protect themselves because these these companies have so much power 0:11:28.440 --> 0:11:32.000 and so much money. Um. And again, it gives individuals 0:11:32.000 --> 0:11:36.080 the opportunity to open the door UH to addressing their 0:11:36.120 --> 0:11:39.720 harm which before these tech companies were protected from. Well, 0:11:39.720 --> 0:11:41.959 and I think that's the broader concern, you know, as 0:11:42.000 --> 0:11:45.000 conservatives here as we see you know, companies have kind 0:11:45.000 --> 0:11:48.199 of shown their colors with going after uh. I mean, 0:11:48.520 --> 0:11:51.000 Texas has been a recipient of it, the ire of 0:11:51.040 --> 0:11:54.040 some of these woke corporations. So is Georgia with their 0:11:54.120 --> 0:11:57.640 election law as well. We've got you know, big tech companies. 0:11:57.679 --> 0:12:00.160 I mean, it seems like, how do we sit in 0:12:00.760 --> 0:12:03.520 you know, we're broadly protect ourselves from some of these 0:12:03.559 --> 0:12:07.280 companies that are essentially doing the Democrat Party's bidding. Well, 0:12:07.720 --> 0:12:11.000 for one, you can stop using their products, um and 0:12:11.679 --> 0:12:14.080 I think that that will slowly but surely send a 0:12:14.120 --> 0:12:17.719 message there as their stock price goes down. Part of 0:12:17.720 --> 0:12:20.319 the problem of these tech companies, though, is that there's 0:12:20.360 --> 0:12:24.079 no other choice their monopolies, and they've they've enforced their 0:12:24.080 --> 0:12:29.199 monopoly with anti competitive behavior and predatory you know, purchases 0:12:29.240 --> 0:12:32.120 of other companies. And so those are the ones that 0:12:32.160 --> 0:12:34.440 we're trying to focus on the ones that we can't 0:12:34.480 --> 0:12:38.400 just go to another choice like coke. You can pick 0:12:38.400 --> 0:12:41.839 another product that there's certainly a probably the largest, and 0:12:42.559 --> 0:12:45.800 but there's still other choices, um that you can make 0:12:45.840 --> 0:12:47.560 it a consumer. You can drink water if you want to. 0:12:47.720 --> 0:12:50.280 So I would I would encourage people if if you 0:12:50.320 --> 0:12:53.040 see companies acting that way to stop purchasing their products. 0:12:53.120 --> 0:12:55.120 But should the fight be bigger than that? I mean, 0:12:55.240 --> 0:12:59.240 you know, our corporations and the enemy of conservatives these days. Well, yeah, 0:12:59.840 --> 0:13:02.920 it's it's a great question. I mean, I think individual companies, 0:13:03.600 --> 0:13:07.080 I mean, they it's it's harder to to say what 0:13:07.080 --> 0:13:08.960 what they should do, what they should do. It's one 0:13:08.960 --> 0:13:12.960 thing when the government is limiting our speech and imposing 0:13:13.679 --> 0:13:17.079 restrictions on people's speech and their ability to communicate. When 0:13:17.080 --> 0:13:21.559 it's an individual company, if they're not ballistic, Uh, there's competition. 0:13:21.600 --> 0:13:23.560 I think the best choice really is for consumers to 0:13:23.720 --> 0:13:25.880 organize and say, look, we're not going to use you. 0:13:25.920 --> 0:13:28.360 It's when they're monopolistic and we don't have a choice 0:13:28.600 --> 0:13:31.000 that I think governments have to step in and give 0:13:31.040 --> 0:13:33.480 people that option. You know. You know, all of our 0:13:43.840 --> 0:13:46.679 freedoms are under attack. We look at you know, censorship 0:13:46.920 --> 0:13:51.200 is rampant. Uh, the Second Amendment is under attack. People 0:13:51.240 --> 0:13:54.920 were not allowed to worship in certain parts of the country. 0:13:55.080 --> 0:13:58.800 We've seen a great centralization of power in Washington, d C. 0:13:59.400 --> 0:14:02.880 Are we still a constitutional republic? They made 0:14:08.240 --> 0:14:10.959 a crisis that is this, and they they certainly not 0:14:11.080 --> 0:14:13.680 let it go to waste. The left is certainly pushed 0:14:13.679 --> 0:14:18.120 towards less freedom, less constitutional government, and I would say, yes, 0:14:18.240 --> 0:14:20.960 we are risk if we're on the verge right now 0:14:20.960 --> 0:14:25.000 of losing our representative constitutional government with the checks and 0:14:25.040 --> 0:14:29.000 balances on power that our founders put in place. And what the Biden administration 0:14:34.760 --> 0:14:37.600 is doing is trying to silence those differences. They're trying 0:14:37.640 --> 0:14:43.040 to uh place power, centralized power with the president in Washington, 0:14:43.080 --> 0:14:45.320 away from the states, trying to limit our abilities of 0:14:45.400 --> 0:14:47.760 states to operate, even suing us of our own. It's 0:14:47.800 --> 0:14:50.320 one thing for the federal government to follow federal law, 0:14:50.320 --> 0:14:52.040 which is what Biden does every day.
