1 00:00:01,639 --> 00:00:05,160 Speaker 1: You're listening to Draftings Network. 2 00:00:08,240 --> 00:00:12,840 Speaker 2: The John Nick and Kenny Florian podcast John Annik and 3 00:00:12,960 --> 00:00:13,880 Speaker 2: Kenny Florian. 4 00:00:14,040 --> 00:00:15,120 Speaker 3: I love him. 5 00:00:15,440 --> 00:00:16,599 Speaker 4: I can't get enough of it. 6 00:00:16,840 --> 00:00:17,840 Speaker 5: Let's hear that both. 7 00:00:18,160 --> 00:00:20,640 Speaker 4: Big job the Cooktopia precer. 8 00:00:25,239 --> 00:00:25,439 Speaker 3: Rock. 9 00:00:28,640 --> 00:00:32,360 Speaker 6: I believe there are a couple of absolutely self involved. 10 00:00:32,560 --> 00:00:35,880 Speaker 2: Here are your hosts, John Nick and Kenny Florian. 11 00:00:37,400 --> 00:00:37,920 Speaker 3: That's all. 12 00:00:40,040 --> 00:00:42,319 Speaker 1: It took me four hundred and fifty episodes to get 13 00:00:42,320 --> 00:00:45,840 Speaker 1: a proper studio, but here we are, Ken Flow. There's 14 00:00:45,880 --> 00:00:51,120 Speaker 1: some philosophical saying about the space you're in relative to 15 00:00:51,200 --> 00:00:56,120 Speaker 1: your production and your overall happiness for me. Asked me recently, man, 16 00:00:56,120 --> 00:00:57,760 Speaker 1: you and Ken Flow coming up on nine years of 17 00:00:57,800 --> 00:01:00,320 Speaker 1: the ankin Florian podcast presented by Draftings, to have you 18 00:01:00,400 --> 00:01:02,680 Speaker 1: with us today and always? But he said, how do 19 00:01:02,720 --> 00:01:05,000 Speaker 1: you guys come up with things to talk about? And 20 00:01:05,280 --> 00:01:06,640 Speaker 1: I said, this is the only time I would get 21 00:01:06,640 --> 00:01:08,760 Speaker 1: with Ken Flow. I gotta sort of like isolate this 22 00:01:08,800 --> 00:01:12,200 Speaker 1: guy and give him a podcast. But this new space 23 00:01:12,360 --> 00:01:15,480 Speaker 1: just feels so re energizing. And uh, I don't know 24 00:01:15,520 --> 00:01:17,000 Speaker 1: how it sounds, I don't know how it looks. But 25 00:01:17,120 --> 00:01:20,600 Speaker 1: thanks to Media Zone, Mike Jones can Flow first episode 26 00:01:20,600 --> 00:01:22,000 Speaker 1: in the new studio I got my can Flow T 27 00:01:22,080 --> 00:01:23,080 Speaker 1: shirt today. We're ready to go. 28 00:01:23,400 --> 00:01:28,839 Speaker 4: Who Mike Jones, Dude, it looks phenomenal, It sounds excellent. 29 00:01:29,640 --> 00:01:32,319 Speaker 4: You look great. I love the lighting that the camera 30 00:01:32,360 --> 00:01:35,039 Speaker 4: looks sharp. The only problem now now my setup looks 31 00:01:35,080 --> 00:01:38,119 Speaker 4: like crap. So I gotta step up. I gotta level 32 00:01:38,240 --> 00:01:40,240 Speaker 4: up along with you, my friend. 33 00:01:40,480 --> 00:01:44,120 Speaker 1: Well, it's all an evolution. Your shot looks great in 34 00:01:44,240 --> 00:01:48,640 Speaker 1: terms of whatever they call that stuff on your wall unit, what. 35 00:01:48,560 --> 00:01:50,920 Speaker 4: Do they call that stuff? My wife's like, it's too busy. 36 00:01:50,960 --> 00:01:53,320 Speaker 4: You got too much crap there. You gotta you gotta, 37 00:01:53,320 --> 00:01:56,080 Speaker 4: you gotta clean it up. So I got to rethink everything. 38 00:01:56,480 --> 00:01:58,560 Speaker 1: So we've been working hard to get this new studio 39 00:01:58,640 --> 00:02:01,160 Speaker 1: ready for the Anakin Florian podcas. We will also tape 40 00:02:01,200 --> 00:02:04,320 Speaker 1: other shows in here. Remember the show with Balao Muhammad 41 00:02:04,360 --> 00:02:07,040 Speaker 1: will originate out of this space in all likelihood, as 42 00:02:07,040 --> 00:02:10,400 Speaker 1: will Annix Squared, our seasonal NFL podcast. So we got 43 00:02:10,400 --> 00:02:13,000 Speaker 1: a three camera shot. We got nobody in seat number 44 00:02:13,000 --> 00:02:14,639 Speaker 1: two today. My daughter was going to join us, but 45 00:02:14,720 --> 00:02:17,359 Speaker 1: at last year is not here. If you're watching, I'm 46 00:02:17,360 --> 00:02:20,480 Speaker 1: switching cameras here now. Our executive producer, Cody Merrow is 47 00:02:20,520 --> 00:02:22,880 Speaker 1: probably gonna not be thrilled with me at the end 48 00:02:22,880 --> 00:02:25,040 Speaker 1: of today's episode. So here's our wide shot. Here is 49 00:02:25,080 --> 00:02:28,480 Speaker 1: our with me. So when Dean Thomas or anybody else 50 00:02:28,520 --> 00:02:32,079 Speaker 1: comes in studio here in South Florida, that'll be their 51 00:02:32,120 --> 00:02:34,600 Speaker 1: seat and this will be the shot that you see. 52 00:02:34,600 --> 00:02:36,400 Speaker 1: So I'll have to sort of clean up my my 53 00:02:36,560 --> 00:02:38,639 Speaker 1: unit in my area here Ken Flow. But this is 54 00:02:38,680 --> 00:02:39,239 Speaker 1: where we're at. 55 00:02:39,480 --> 00:02:39,679 Speaker 3: Well. 56 00:02:39,800 --> 00:02:42,080 Speaker 4: I like the fact that we have proof that John 57 00:02:42,120 --> 00:02:45,720 Speaker 4: Annick wears shorts. He's wearing stuff underneath the shot. You 58 00:02:45,720 --> 00:02:48,040 Speaker 4: can't quite see it for me, but so you don't 59 00:02:48,080 --> 00:02:50,240 Speaker 4: really know. But John Anick, he's got shorts on. He's 60 00:02:50,240 --> 00:02:51,120 Speaker 4: a professional. Come on. 61 00:02:51,360 --> 00:02:53,280 Speaker 1: So yeah, I got to be careful because you guys 62 00:02:53,360 --> 00:02:55,880 Speaker 1: can see everything down low, you know. Thankfully I'm not 63 00:02:56,040 --> 00:02:59,400 Speaker 1: just wearing, uh, wearing my undergarments. Today. We do have 64 00:02:59,440 --> 00:03:03,640 Speaker 1: the ken Flow T shirt on amazing Wolverine design and 65 00:03:03,720 --> 00:03:06,119 Speaker 1: you can get this right now at John Annick dot com. Incidentally, 66 00:03:06,280 --> 00:03:08,320 Speaker 1: the entire store. I don't know if there's a promo 67 00:03:08,400 --> 00:03:10,440 Speaker 1: code right now, but John Anick dot com. We have 68 00:03:10,600 --> 00:03:14,079 Speaker 1: all new designs by average Joe Art. Nothing average about him. 69 00:03:14,560 --> 00:03:18,240 Speaker 1: I love this design and that is one of many 70 00:03:18,280 --> 00:03:20,040 Speaker 1: others that you can access right now with John Annick 71 00:03:20,080 --> 00:03:23,000 Speaker 1: dot com. All proceeds, well, not all proceeds. Some go 72 00:03:23,040 --> 00:03:24,920 Speaker 1: to charity, Some go to fucking ray long go right, 73 00:03:25,000 --> 00:03:27,160 Speaker 1: Some go to support the ANAK and Floria and LLC team. 74 00:03:27,200 --> 00:03:30,880 Speaker 1: Cody Merribrian Petrie, our fine intern, Will Burger. Will Burger 75 00:03:30,919 --> 00:03:34,320 Speaker 1: needs a new title. So maybe production assistant isn't even 76 00:03:34,360 --> 00:03:35,960 Speaker 1: strong enough. But it's great to be with all you 77 00:03:36,000 --> 00:03:40,200 Speaker 1: find folks. I'm not technologically inclined, so I'm like recording 78 00:03:40,240 --> 00:03:42,320 Speaker 1: it on this end, which is very interesting. But yeah, 79 00:03:42,320 --> 00:03:44,080 Speaker 1: we're excited to go. Why if we want to fucking go, why, 80 00:03:44,160 --> 00:03:47,000 Speaker 1: we'll go wide, go back to the single shot can 81 00:03:47,080 --> 00:03:50,720 Speaker 1: flow and eventually, uh we'll have an in studio guess 82 00:03:50,760 --> 00:03:52,320 Speaker 1: maybe even Kenny Floorian in that seat. 83 00:03:52,600 --> 00:03:55,080 Speaker 4: I love I love John Anick with new toys. It's 84 00:03:55,080 --> 00:03:55,480 Speaker 4: the best. 85 00:03:56,000 --> 00:03:58,040 Speaker 1: I don't know if you should have put me at 86 00:03:58,080 --> 00:04:01,400 Speaker 1: the controls. I have no Anthony g Ordono, our great 87 00:04:01,640 --> 00:04:05,400 Speaker 1: longtime UFC director. All right, So it is Sunday, November nineteenth, 88 00:04:05,440 --> 00:04:08,240 Speaker 1: twenty twenty three. It is episode four fifty of the 89 00:04:08,240 --> 00:04:11,160 Speaker 1: anikin Floring Podcast presented by DraftKings. We are on the 90 00:04:11,240 --> 00:04:14,520 Speaker 1: DraftKings Network once this week because of the Thanksgiving holiday. 91 00:04:14,560 --> 00:04:16,640 Speaker 1: We are on the DraftKings YouTube channel, clips on the 92 00:04:16,640 --> 00:04:19,920 Speaker 1: Anikinploring podcast YouTube channel as well, and everything has been 93 00:04:20,400 --> 00:04:22,680 Speaker 1: compartmentalized at John Annak dot com. But we have a 94 00:04:22,720 --> 00:04:25,880 Speaker 1: lot to get into today UFC Fight Night Allen versus Craig. 95 00:04:25,920 --> 00:04:28,479 Speaker 1: We will recap that ken flow holiday week for the PFL. 96 00:04:28,480 --> 00:04:30,080 Speaker 1: I mean, what are you doing for Thanksgiving? You breaking 97 00:04:30,120 --> 00:04:33,000 Speaker 1: bread with George X? Is that what's going on in. 98 00:04:33,720 --> 00:04:37,080 Speaker 4: I'm gonna be probably looking at guys taking her clothes 99 00:04:37,160 --> 00:04:39,240 Speaker 4: off and getting on a scale. All right, we know 100 00:04:39,320 --> 00:04:41,440 Speaker 4: something like that, you know, So you know it's way 101 00:04:41,520 --> 00:04:45,000 Speaker 4: in day for me. Not that I'm weighing in thankfully, 102 00:04:45,320 --> 00:04:48,520 Speaker 4: but yeah, I'm at work, dude, I miss Thanksgiving. It's 103 00:04:48,560 --> 00:04:50,919 Speaker 4: funny because when I was fighting, I would always miss 104 00:04:50,920 --> 00:04:52,920 Speaker 4: Thanksgiving just so I wouldn't put on weight. I would 105 00:04:52,920 --> 00:04:55,520 Speaker 4: always go up to Canada where they don't celebrate Thanksgiving, 106 00:04:55,640 --> 00:04:58,679 Speaker 4: just so I wouldn't kept myself. But here we are again. 107 00:05:00,520 --> 00:05:04,039 Speaker 1: So the wigh in is on Thanksgiving Day? Is that 108 00:05:04,120 --> 00:05:05,040 Speaker 1: Thanksgiving morning? 109 00:05:06,440 --> 00:05:09,280 Speaker 4: Thanksgiving morning exactly? Then we have like a show later 110 00:05:09,320 --> 00:05:12,640 Speaker 4: on the night. It's like, yeah, Anyways, it's just it's 111 00:05:12,960 --> 00:05:15,280 Speaker 4: it's hilarious. It's like, well, I got to say I 112 00:05:15,320 --> 00:05:16,760 Speaker 4: got to give a shout out to my wife who 113 00:05:16,839 --> 00:05:20,840 Speaker 4: actually made a little mini Thanksgiving dinner for me and 114 00:05:21,520 --> 00:05:23,760 Speaker 4: last night, so that was very kind, Clark, thank you 115 00:05:23,880 --> 00:05:24,320 Speaker 4: very much. 116 00:05:24,560 --> 00:05:26,719 Speaker 1: All Right, Well, we will time permitting get into some 117 00:05:26,839 --> 00:05:29,839 Speaker 1: of those matchups. I was sort of thinking, right, and 118 00:05:29,920 --> 00:05:32,360 Speaker 1: I don't know contractually what my contract says. I don't 119 00:05:32,400 --> 00:05:34,120 Speaker 1: even know where the thing is right now, But can 120 00:05:34,160 --> 00:05:37,600 Speaker 1: I make predictions in the main event challenge on Olivia 121 00:05:37,839 --> 00:05:40,960 Speaker 1: ha Mercier versus Clay call it? Yeah, part of the 122 00:05:40,960 --> 00:05:43,920 Speaker 1: impetus for me stopping making picks. And by the way, 123 00:05:43,960 --> 00:05:45,880 Speaker 1: I haven't made a pick on the record for the 124 00:05:46,000 --> 00:05:48,960 Speaker 1: UFC since twenty sixteen. I think there was a two 125 00:05:49,000 --> 00:05:52,400 Speaker 1: Toho nine tattoo. I don't remember the exact circumstance, but 126 00:05:53,160 --> 00:05:55,080 Speaker 1: part of the impetus was, you know, you may call 127 00:05:55,080 --> 00:05:57,880 Speaker 1: a future fight involving Nate Diaz and Connor McGregor, even 128 00:05:57,880 --> 00:05:59,800 Speaker 1: if you don't go on the record and pick a fight. 129 00:06:00,040 --> 00:06:01,560 Speaker 1: And I guess it's not out of the realm of 130 00:06:01,560 --> 00:06:03,560 Speaker 1: possibility that Clay colleg would make his way back to 131 00:06:03,600 --> 00:06:05,919 Speaker 1: the UFC. So if I were to go on the 132 00:06:05,960 --> 00:06:09,880 Speaker 1: record picking Olivier obamaer SA, maybe that wouldn't be ideal, 133 00:06:09,880 --> 00:06:12,200 Speaker 1: And not for nothing, you fucking hate making picks. So 134 00:06:14,320 --> 00:06:16,680 Speaker 1: if I don't have to this is true, I think 135 00:06:16,680 --> 00:06:18,800 Speaker 1: it's just a gambler and me to want it for yourself. 136 00:06:19,000 --> 00:06:22,760 Speaker 1: On Josh Silvera and IMPA Hasan Ca and I Cody, 137 00:06:22,760 --> 00:06:24,960 Speaker 1: if you could chase some bedding lines and maybe populate 138 00:06:25,000 --> 00:06:28,159 Speaker 1: those into the chat, that would just be outstanding. But 139 00:06:28,240 --> 00:06:29,800 Speaker 1: we have a lot to get into UFC Fight Night 140 00:06:29,839 --> 00:06:32,640 Speaker 1: Allen versus Craig. We will talk to the pfl's Derek Brunston, 141 00:06:32,680 --> 00:06:35,120 Speaker 1: who is kite fighting Ray Cooper, the third coming up 142 00:06:35,160 --> 00:06:38,000 Speaker 1: this weekend, and we will talk to Ray Longo as well. 143 00:06:38,000 --> 00:06:40,480 Speaker 1: We'll also talk to Spencer Miller on the back end 144 00:06:40,520 --> 00:06:43,919 Speaker 1: of the program. But let us get into Brendan Allen 145 00:06:44,480 --> 00:06:47,280 Speaker 1: and man seems like a polarizing contender already, which I 146 00:06:47,279 --> 00:06:48,800 Speaker 1: think is a pretty good thing. You want people to 147 00:06:48,800 --> 00:06:51,320 Speaker 1: have an opinion. But this was a UFC Fight Night 148 00:06:51,360 --> 00:06:54,080 Speaker 1: built around the middlewaight division Brendan Allen and the relative 149 00:06:54,080 --> 00:06:57,400 Speaker 1: divisional newcomer Paul bar Juke Craig, and it goes to 150 00:06:57,520 --> 00:07:00,719 Speaker 1: Brendan Allen by submission. Rear Naked Show comes at the 151 00:07:00,760 --> 00:07:02,880 Speaker 1: thirty eight second mark of round three Ken Flow, and 152 00:07:03,240 --> 00:07:05,520 Speaker 1: it seems like one of your type of guys, Brendan Allen. 153 00:07:06,080 --> 00:07:09,119 Speaker 1: Five of the wins on this six fight winning streak 154 00:07:09,160 --> 00:07:10,720 Speaker 1: have come by rear naked shoke. We got a new 155 00:07:10,760 --> 00:07:12,960 Speaker 1: Middleway contender. If he was not that already going into 156 00:07:13,000 --> 00:07:14,320 Speaker 1: the weekend, he did so. 157 00:07:14,280 --> 00:07:17,000 Speaker 4: Many great things. I'll try to stay focused because so 158 00:07:17,120 --> 00:07:20,480 Speaker 4: much went on. There were so many great exchanges that 159 00:07:20,520 --> 00:07:23,360 Speaker 4: I'd love to talk about. But for me, I think 160 00:07:23,400 --> 00:07:29,040 Speaker 4: it's his consistency, his ability to not make any mistakes anymore. 161 00:07:29,600 --> 00:07:32,320 Speaker 4: I had to fight with a certain level of composure 162 00:07:32,400 --> 00:07:35,320 Speaker 4: and confidence that I'm not sure he had a couple 163 00:07:35,480 --> 00:07:38,600 Speaker 4: years ago. He always had the talent, he always had 164 00:07:39,160 --> 00:07:42,240 Speaker 4: the skills in various areas of mixed martial arts. But 165 00:07:42,320 --> 00:07:46,040 Speaker 4: now he's really putting it together. He believes in himself, 166 00:07:46,400 --> 00:07:49,600 Speaker 4: and he was just always two or three steps ahead 167 00:07:50,000 --> 00:07:52,920 Speaker 4: of Paul Craig. There was one close call on that 168 00:07:53,080 --> 00:07:57,000 Speaker 4: leg lock attempt that Paul Craig had, but besides that, 169 00:07:57,800 --> 00:08:00,680 Speaker 4: I don't see an area where Paul Craig had anything 170 00:08:00,800 --> 00:08:03,280 Speaker 4: on Brendan Allen. And you see a guy like Paul 171 00:08:03,320 --> 00:08:06,680 Speaker 4: Craig walk into that octagon, You're going, man, this guy 172 00:08:06,920 --> 00:08:10,600 Speaker 4: is absolutely massive. What is Brendan Allen going to do 173 00:08:10,640 --> 00:08:12,480 Speaker 4: with that reach? What is he going to do when 174 00:08:12,480 --> 00:08:14,440 Speaker 4: he locks up with a guy that big, Well, he's 175 00:08:14,480 --> 00:08:16,360 Speaker 4: going to throw him on his head, That's what he's 176 00:08:16,360 --> 00:08:18,520 Speaker 4: going to do. He's going to feign him from the outside, 177 00:08:18,600 --> 00:08:22,560 Speaker 4: use his speed, land shots whatever he wants, keep him guessing, 178 00:08:22,600 --> 00:08:25,160 Speaker 4: and just dominate the fight start to finish. So I 179 00:08:25,160 --> 00:08:30,160 Speaker 4: think that's what was so impressive, Extremely dominant and again 180 00:08:30,240 --> 00:08:32,520 Speaker 4: for a lot of jiu jitsu guys out there who 181 00:08:32,559 --> 00:08:38,320 Speaker 4: are watching someone like a Brendan Allen use that ground 182 00:08:38,320 --> 00:08:40,680 Speaker 4: and pound to advance her position. And that's what Brendan 183 00:08:40,720 --> 00:08:43,120 Speaker 4: Allen did so well. If he wasn't passing the guard, 184 00:08:43,280 --> 00:08:47,280 Speaker 4: he was smashing the guard with short elbows, hammerfists and punches. 185 00:08:47,600 --> 00:08:49,320 Speaker 4: It was just beautiful to watch. Man, This was a 186 00:08:49,480 --> 00:08:52,840 Speaker 4: complete performance from Brendan Allen. He did at the right 187 00:08:52,920 --> 00:08:54,800 Speaker 4: time in a big main event spot. 188 00:08:55,240 --> 00:08:58,640 Speaker 1: There was one compromising situation in the fight for Brendan 189 00:08:58,679 --> 00:09:00,440 Speaker 1: Allen on the ground. Could you talk us through that 190 00:09:00,520 --> 00:09:03,600 Speaker 1: a little bit? Obviously his submission defense held up in 191 00:09:03,640 --> 00:09:06,320 Speaker 1: that moment against a very dangerous guy who really only 192 00:09:06,360 --> 00:09:08,320 Speaker 1: needs one opening to finish the fight. 193 00:09:08,720 --> 00:09:12,040 Speaker 4: Yes, absolutely, Now you know, Dominic Cruz was talking about 194 00:09:12,520 --> 00:09:16,640 Speaker 4: that scorpion lock or that lockdown position from half guard 195 00:09:16,640 --> 00:09:19,040 Speaker 4: that Paul Craig was utilizing, and he has such long 196 00:09:19,160 --> 00:09:21,760 Speaker 4: levers with his legs that he was extending the leg 197 00:09:22,440 --> 00:09:25,560 Speaker 4: of Brendan Allen from that position and he started, he 198 00:09:25,679 --> 00:09:27,839 Speaker 4: picked up the legs, started torquing it, so there was 199 00:09:27,880 --> 00:09:29,600 Speaker 4: a little bit of torque on the knee. It then 200 00:09:29,679 --> 00:09:33,000 Speaker 4: became a calf slicer. And I thought Brendan Allen did 201 00:09:33,000 --> 00:09:36,520 Speaker 4: a great job of actually turning, giving his back which 202 00:09:36,600 --> 00:09:39,520 Speaker 4: was going to allow his other leg to get into 203 00:09:39,559 --> 00:09:42,720 Speaker 4: play so he can actually like pry his leg out 204 00:09:42,720 --> 00:09:45,640 Speaker 4: of that position. If he didn't do that, he would 205 00:09:45,679 --> 00:09:48,559 Speaker 4: have at the very least dealt with the bad knee injury. 206 00:09:48,600 --> 00:09:50,959 Speaker 4: Hopefully his leg is still okay, because it was a 207 00:09:51,000 --> 00:09:53,560 Speaker 4: little bit funky in there, But I thought it was 208 00:09:53,720 --> 00:09:57,320 Speaker 4: a great job by Brendan Allen to get his other 209 00:09:57,440 --> 00:09:59,480 Speaker 4: leg involved. It looked like he was giving up his 210 00:09:59,600 --> 00:10:03,000 Speaker 4: leg in the meantime, or giving up his Backstarry in 211 00:10:03,000 --> 00:10:06,040 Speaker 4: the meantime then attack the other leg of Paul Craig, 212 00:10:06,080 --> 00:10:09,120 Speaker 4: which got pelt Paul to actually play defensively. He was 213 00:10:09,160 --> 00:10:11,520 Speaker 4: able to get out of that and scrabble and get 214 00:10:11,600 --> 00:10:15,000 Speaker 4: superior position. But just excellent stuff there. But that was 215 00:10:15,040 --> 00:10:18,959 Speaker 4: the closest Paul Craig was in that fight. Yeah, and 216 00:10:19,400 --> 00:10:22,959 Speaker 4: it was tricky, but I think for Brendan Allen moving forward, 217 00:10:23,480 --> 00:10:26,240 Speaker 4: there's something he can do to really not let himself 218 00:10:26,240 --> 00:10:28,200 Speaker 4: in that position. When someone is using a lockdown, it 219 00:10:28,200 --> 00:10:31,000 Speaker 4: could be very frustrating because it stops you from really 220 00:10:31,040 --> 00:10:33,880 Speaker 4: advancing your position very well. And if he just takes 221 00:10:33,880 --> 00:10:36,679 Speaker 4: his other leg and kind of lifts up that bottom 222 00:10:36,720 --> 00:10:39,640 Speaker 4: leg of Paul Craig, he can then unwind his own leg. 223 00:10:39,679 --> 00:10:43,440 Speaker 4: But anyways, he did a great job regardless, and that 224 00:10:43,559 --> 00:10:45,080 Speaker 4: was an interesting scramble for sure. 225 00:10:45,720 --> 00:10:48,959 Speaker 1: I have so many good things to say about Brendan Allen. 226 00:10:49,040 --> 00:10:51,600 Speaker 1: He is a big game player. And we have talked 227 00:10:51,600 --> 00:10:54,600 Speaker 1: at times here on the Anakin Florian podcast about fighters 228 00:10:54,600 --> 00:10:57,959 Speaker 1: bringing their kids around. I think I mentioned Benilo dar 229 00:10:58,040 --> 00:11:01,079 Speaker 1: Yusch had children, young children stif in his hotel room, 230 00:11:01,120 --> 00:11:02,520 Speaker 1: and I sort of wonder aloud if that was a 231 00:11:02,559 --> 00:11:06,440 Speaker 1: great move Brendan Allen is so present, Kenny, that he 232 00:11:06,480 --> 00:11:09,880 Speaker 1: can do his fight or arrival for a UFC main event. Now, 233 00:11:09,880 --> 00:11:12,559 Speaker 1: maybe his daughter would not have been so omnipresent if 234 00:11:12,600 --> 00:11:14,440 Speaker 1: this was not at the UFC Apex and this was 235 00:11:14,480 --> 00:11:17,280 Speaker 1: some big arena, right, but what is she three years old? 236 00:11:17,640 --> 00:11:21,600 Speaker 1: He's doing his main event fighter arrival with his daughter, right, 237 00:11:21,679 --> 00:11:24,680 Speaker 1: She's there for his media scrum, and then when he 238 00:11:24,760 --> 00:11:28,040 Speaker 1: comes out into the octagon, he's like looking around for 239 00:11:28,200 --> 00:11:31,440 Speaker 1: where his daughter is in the crowd, right, And to me, 240 00:11:31,520 --> 00:11:34,600 Speaker 1: it just speaks to how locked in this guy is 241 00:11:34,840 --> 00:11:38,680 Speaker 1: and how fight night just is not too big for him. 242 00:11:38,679 --> 00:11:40,880 Speaker 1: And we talk so much about how guys may be 243 00:11:40,960 --> 00:11:42,960 Speaker 1: trained better than they fight, or vice versa. We talked 244 00:11:42,960 --> 00:11:45,160 Speaker 1: about it recently with Tom Aspinall. I don't know if 245 00:11:45,160 --> 00:11:47,360 Speaker 1: there's any question here more of a comment, Kenny. I 246 00:11:47,400 --> 00:11:50,560 Speaker 1: just think Brendan Allen is ready for prime time, capable 247 00:11:50,600 --> 00:11:53,360 Speaker 1: in prime time, and he's one of the few guys 248 00:11:53,400 --> 00:11:55,839 Speaker 1: I think maybe five percent of the roster who can 249 00:11:56,320 --> 00:11:59,080 Speaker 1: have his kids are out and once the bright lights 250 00:11:59,080 --> 00:12:01,320 Speaker 1: come on, he's absolutely locked in and ready to perform. 251 00:12:01,559 --> 00:12:03,880 Speaker 4: I think it's an important point to make. I mean 252 00:12:03,920 --> 00:12:05,720 Speaker 4: it was something that I thought about as he was 253 00:12:05,800 --> 00:12:08,320 Speaker 4: walking out with his very cute daughter in that little 254 00:12:08,320 --> 00:12:11,240 Speaker 4: birdery dress. Is adorable, But I wouldn't be able to 255 00:12:11,280 --> 00:12:14,000 Speaker 4: do that. I definitely would have been able to do that. 256 00:12:14,760 --> 00:12:17,000 Speaker 4: I think that it's a difficult thing, you know, just 257 00:12:17,040 --> 00:12:20,400 Speaker 4: competing in any professional setting and having your children there 258 00:12:20,840 --> 00:12:23,640 Speaker 4: is difficult. When you're talking about going in there to 259 00:12:23,760 --> 00:12:27,920 Speaker 4: fight another human being in the UFC's octagon. There's a 260 00:12:27,960 --> 00:12:29,920 Speaker 4: lot on the line, and there's a lot you need 261 00:12:29,920 --> 00:12:32,200 Speaker 4: to think about because of course the child is, you know, 262 00:12:32,320 --> 00:12:35,840 Speaker 4: processing things. I think you know, if she is there watching, 263 00:12:36,880 --> 00:12:39,560 Speaker 4: you know, thinking about her dad in some very intense 264 00:12:39,600 --> 00:12:42,880 Speaker 4: situations can be disruptive and you know you're thinking about, 265 00:12:43,080 --> 00:12:45,400 Speaker 4: you know, your own kid, maybe how they're reacting that stuff. 266 00:12:45,400 --> 00:12:47,160 Speaker 4: But the fact that he was able to stay focused 267 00:12:47,240 --> 00:12:51,319 Speaker 4: like that is a testament to him as a professional 268 00:12:51,360 --> 00:12:54,160 Speaker 4: and how he is able to focus, be relaxed and 269 00:12:54,200 --> 00:12:57,400 Speaker 4: do his job. And also, you know, I'm sure he 270 00:12:57,520 --> 00:13:01,320 Speaker 4: found some motivation from that, you know, having his daughter there, 271 00:13:01,600 --> 00:13:05,520 Speaker 4: I'm sure that boomed him tremendously, and it's of course 272 00:13:05,559 --> 00:13:08,319 Speaker 4: a great reminder of why he's doing what he's doing. 273 00:13:09,480 --> 00:13:12,080 Speaker 1: So Cody's asking me to kill the audio from Mike 274 00:13:12,240 --> 00:13:15,240 Speaker 1: two on my board. I mean it's already killed, my man, 275 00:13:15,360 --> 00:13:18,839 Speaker 1: like it's potted down, So feel free to chat away 276 00:13:18,880 --> 00:13:21,319 Speaker 1: if there's something else that I could do. I also 277 00:13:21,360 --> 00:13:24,439 Speaker 1: would say of Brendan Allen, for those who are promoters 278 00:13:24,480 --> 00:13:27,600 Speaker 1: of cussing in front of children, we appreciated that with 279 00:13:27,679 --> 00:13:30,360 Speaker 1: him cussing away during the media scrump. All right, so 280 00:13:31,240 --> 00:13:34,679 Speaker 1: I have a huge defense to make of Brendan Allen 281 00:13:34,760 --> 00:13:37,480 Speaker 1: as like Middleway title contender here ken flow and these 282 00:13:37,520 --> 00:13:39,280 Speaker 1: are my notes here. I mean, maybe we go three 283 00:13:39,320 --> 00:13:41,240 Speaker 1: wide right now. So I've been taking notes on all 284 00:13:41,240 --> 00:13:45,160 Speaker 1: these Middleway contenders all morning, right, not handicapping the NFL, 285 00:13:45,240 --> 00:13:49,240 Speaker 1: but talking about these guys that potentially Brendan Allen could fight. 286 00:13:49,400 --> 00:13:52,120 Speaker 1: And first, before we get there, how about looking at 287 00:13:52,160 --> 00:13:54,720 Speaker 1: some of the recent challenges that Brendan Allen has accepted. 288 00:13:54,760 --> 00:13:56,079 Speaker 1: And by the way, this is a guy who is 289 00:13:56,200 --> 00:13:58,920 Speaker 1: very calculated about his career. I remember one point he 290 00:13:59,000 --> 00:14:01,640 Speaker 1: was saying, you know, February June October, right, and if 291 00:14:01,640 --> 00:14:05,000 Speaker 1: you look, Kenny, it's been February, June, October, February June, November, right, 292 00:14:05,000 --> 00:14:07,760 Speaker 1: But how many people were wanting to fight Andre Muoniz 293 00:14:07,840 --> 00:14:10,319 Speaker 1: when he submitted him, Right, not a whole lot. Bruno 294 00:14:10,440 --> 00:14:14,240 Speaker 1: Silva can be a real problem, super dangerous middleweight. 295 00:14:14,320 --> 00:14:14,440 Speaker 3: Right. 296 00:14:14,440 --> 00:14:16,679 Speaker 1: We saw what he did against Alex Padata and then 297 00:14:16,720 --> 00:14:20,280 Speaker 1: Paul baer ju Ki moving down from light heavyweight. Given 298 00:14:20,320 --> 00:14:22,720 Speaker 1: the way he looked in his UFC light heavyweight debut, 299 00:14:23,120 --> 00:14:26,240 Speaker 1: They're not giving Brendan Allen easy fights. They're giving him 300 00:14:26,280 --> 00:14:28,560 Speaker 1: tough fights. Dominica Cruz would say, this is the perfect 301 00:14:28,560 --> 00:14:33,280 Speaker 1: way to sort of methodically build contender, right, and I 302 00:14:33,320 --> 00:14:35,600 Speaker 1: think he has passed every test with flying colors. If 303 00:14:35,640 --> 00:14:38,080 Speaker 1: you want to go back to the most recent setback, 304 00:14:38,120 --> 00:14:40,080 Speaker 1: you go back all the way to December of twenty 305 00:14:40,160 --> 00:14:42,360 Speaker 1: twenty one against Chris Curtis. Then you have to go 306 00:14:42,400 --> 00:14:45,400 Speaker 1: back to the TKO loss to Sean Strickland Kenny Covid 307 00:14:45,400 --> 00:14:48,360 Speaker 1: climate November twenty twenty. It was at a catchweight of 308 00:14:48,400 --> 00:14:51,040 Speaker 1: one hundred and ninety five pounds. John Strickland was supposed 309 00:14:51,080 --> 00:14:53,480 Speaker 1: to fight the week prior. There was a COVID issue, 310 00:14:53,480 --> 00:14:56,600 Speaker 1: I think perhaps involving his opponent, so he sticks around 311 00:14:56,600 --> 00:14:58,480 Speaker 1: to compete, maybe to make the money or whatever. So 312 00:14:58,520 --> 00:15:01,160 Speaker 1: the Strickland fight I'm not saying there's an asterisk on it, 313 00:15:01,360 --> 00:15:04,480 Speaker 1: but those guys have history and there were circumstances surrounding it, right, 314 00:15:04,760 --> 00:15:10,600 Speaker 1: So Marvin Vettori, Robert Whittaker, how low Costa, Jared Cannoneer, 315 00:15:10,680 --> 00:15:13,640 Speaker 1: those are guys three through six. Kenny and I would 316 00:15:13,640 --> 00:15:16,280 Speaker 1: sit here and much more advocate for Brennan Allen fighting 317 00:15:16,360 --> 00:15:19,920 Speaker 1: one of those guys in a title eliminator than fighting 318 00:15:20,640 --> 00:15:22,920 Speaker 1: Jack Hermanson, for example, who's number nine in the world, 319 00:15:22,960 --> 00:15:26,400 Speaker 1: who he was previously booked against at this point in time, 320 00:15:27,000 --> 00:15:29,520 Speaker 1: given this six fight winning streak, given that there had 321 00:15:29,560 --> 00:15:31,880 Speaker 1: been five finishes before I get into the numbers on 322 00:15:31,960 --> 00:15:35,640 Speaker 1: some of these other contenders. What are your thoughts, knowing 323 00:15:35,640 --> 00:15:39,040 Speaker 1: Strickland's defending against Drakes du plus as to who you 324 00:15:39,080 --> 00:15:42,880 Speaker 1: would like to see next for the budding contender, Brendan Allen. 325 00:15:43,080 --> 00:15:47,200 Speaker 4: Yeah, I'll say that anytime there's any kind of regime change, 326 00:15:47,280 --> 00:15:50,080 Speaker 4: that is when the empire is most vulnerable. Right. So 327 00:15:50,120 --> 00:15:53,360 Speaker 4: we have this new champion and Sean Strickland, and you know, 328 00:15:53,440 --> 00:15:56,880 Speaker 4: Brendan Allen's no dummy. He understands what's at stake here. 329 00:15:56,960 --> 00:15:59,640 Speaker 4: He understands that, Hey, not everybody makes it to the 330 00:15:59,760 --> 00:16:02,040 Speaker 4: dam even when even when a fight his books. So 331 00:16:02,040 --> 00:16:05,560 Speaker 4: obviously Drikis Duplasse and Sean Strickland our schedule to go 332 00:16:05,600 --> 00:16:07,840 Speaker 4: at it at some point in Toronto next year. Was 333 00:16:07,880 --> 00:16:09,200 Speaker 4: it February or January? 334 00:16:09,520 --> 00:16:13,880 Speaker 1: Yeah, January twentieth, right, so you know he could step 335 00:16:13,920 --> 00:16:16,200 Speaker 1: in there for one of those guys who could potentially 336 00:16:16,200 --> 00:16:16,720 Speaker 1: get injured. 337 00:16:16,760 --> 00:16:18,920 Speaker 4: And of course he likes his chances against either of 338 00:16:18,960 --> 00:16:22,920 Speaker 4: those guys. And you know, for me, I wouldn't even 339 00:16:23,000 --> 00:16:25,560 Speaker 4: mention Jared cannon Ere. You know for him that it 340 00:16:25,680 --> 00:16:28,720 Speaker 4: just shows how confident he is that he's saying, I 341 00:16:28,760 --> 00:16:31,200 Speaker 4: want the best guys, I deserve a title shot. He 342 00:16:31,280 --> 00:16:33,560 Speaker 4: made his case. He won in a main event spot. 343 00:16:33,760 --> 00:16:35,560 Speaker 4: That's exactly what you do when they give you the 344 00:16:35,600 --> 00:16:37,640 Speaker 4: mic in a main event spot and you just not 345 00:16:37,840 --> 00:16:40,600 Speaker 4: just one but massacre at another dude in a fight. 346 00:16:40,840 --> 00:16:44,200 Speaker 4: So you know, Brennan Allen was firing on all cylinders, dude, 347 00:16:44,200 --> 00:16:45,560 Speaker 4: and he did it again. He did it on the 348 00:16:45,600 --> 00:16:48,480 Speaker 4: ground against Paul Craig, where he is most dangerous. Paul 349 00:16:48,520 --> 00:16:51,000 Speaker 4: Craig was submitting guys at two hundred and five pounds 350 00:16:51,120 --> 00:16:54,160 Speaker 4: and Brennan Allen made Paul Craig look like he wasn't 351 00:16:54,280 --> 00:16:56,320 Speaker 4: very good on the ground, Like that's how good Brennan 352 00:16:56,360 --> 00:16:59,640 Speaker 4: Allen looked. The kid has got skills, he knows it. 353 00:16:59,680 --> 00:17:03,640 Speaker 4: Now he's executing what he needs to. I thought everything 354 00:17:03,640 --> 00:17:10,199 Speaker 4: about that was perfectly. 355 00:17:13,359 --> 00:17:13,439 Speaker 3: So. 356 00:17:13,480 --> 00:17:14,920 Speaker 1: I have no control over that. I went a little 357 00:17:14,960 --> 00:17:16,919 Speaker 1: lonely for my face. I could probably pot at the 358 00:17:16,920 --> 00:17:19,119 Speaker 1: fuck down, but that's just bied me some time to 359 00:17:19,160 --> 00:17:22,120 Speaker 1: get my notes organized as we go through this middleway. 360 00:17:22,160 --> 00:17:25,679 Speaker 1: Top ten, So Sean Strickland is the champion. Israel lot 361 00:17:25,720 --> 00:17:28,760 Speaker 1: Asni is the number one contender, seemingly on some sort 362 00:17:28,760 --> 00:17:31,359 Speaker 1: of leave of absence. Drinkist du plus C is the 363 00:17:31,480 --> 00:17:34,120 Speaker 1: number two rank contender. Then you have Robert Whitaker, number three, 364 00:17:34,200 --> 00:17:37,920 Speaker 1: Jared cannoneer number four, he is injured, Marvin Vttori number five, 365 00:17:38,240 --> 00:17:41,840 Speaker 1: Plo Costa number six. On the men, Roman deletes A 366 00:17:42,000 --> 00:17:45,520 Speaker 1: number seven, Kamzaschimai have eight, and on and on it goes. 367 00:17:45,640 --> 00:17:48,120 Speaker 1: So let me just get to Jared cannoneer. I'll try 368 00:17:48,119 --> 00:17:50,520 Speaker 1: to do this as expeditiously as possible to try to 369 00:17:51,040 --> 00:17:52,679 Speaker 1: move through the rest of some of these winners from 370 00:17:52,800 --> 00:17:56,560 Speaker 1: UFC Fight Night. Michael Morales and the rest. So Jared 371 00:17:56,600 --> 00:17:59,160 Speaker 1: Cannoneer is number four in the world. He's thirty nine 372 00:17:59,240 --> 00:18:02,239 Speaker 1: years of age. Seven total midleweight wins, maybe not as 373 00:18:02,280 --> 00:18:06,000 Speaker 1: many as you would expect. One middleweight title shot. Best 374 00:18:06,040 --> 00:18:09,000 Speaker 1: win for Jared Kannonier at one hundred and eighty five 375 00:18:09,040 --> 00:18:12,280 Speaker 1: pounds a split decision over Sean Strickland. I love Jared Knnoneer, 376 00:18:12,320 --> 00:18:14,280 Speaker 1: but I did think he lost that fight. Three of 377 00:18:14,320 --> 00:18:16,560 Speaker 1: the last four wins for Jared Cannoneer have come by 378 00:18:16,600 --> 00:18:19,560 Speaker 1: way of decision. Right Number three Robert Whitaker, I think 379 00:18:19,600 --> 00:18:21,760 Speaker 1: this fight makes a shit ton of sense, albeit maybe 380 00:18:21,800 --> 00:18:24,359 Speaker 1: not as much for Robert Whitaker. He's lost two of 381 00:18:24,400 --> 00:18:27,120 Speaker 1: his last three. Last finished for Robert Whitaker. 382 00:18:27,240 --> 00:18:27,639 Speaker 4: Jacques D. 383 00:18:27,800 --> 00:18:32,119 Speaker 1: Shoza twenty seventeen Marvin Vctory, the number five rank contender, 384 00:18:32,160 --> 00:18:34,320 Speaker 1: has lost three of his last five. His last seven 385 00:18:34,359 --> 00:18:37,840 Speaker 1: fights have gone the distance. Number six rank contender Palo 386 00:18:37,920 --> 00:18:40,520 Speaker 1: Costa has lost two of his last three. Last finish 387 00:18:41,000 --> 00:18:44,520 Speaker 1: was in twenty eighteen against Rayah Hole the night DC 388 00:18:44,640 --> 00:18:46,280 Speaker 1: and Steep they fought for the first time. It was 389 00:18:46,359 --> 00:18:47,480 Speaker 1: UFC two to twenty six. 390 00:18:47,880 --> 00:18:48,080 Speaker 3: Right. 391 00:18:48,359 --> 00:18:50,720 Speaker 1: Then you have Kamzachimaya of number eight in the world 392 00:18:50,720 --> 00:18:53,919 Speaker 1: who is injured, and number seven Roman Dealedze, who is 393 00:18:53,960 --> 00:18:56,639 Speaker 1: coming off a loss to Marvin Vatory. Then you have 394 00:18:56,760 --> 00:19:00,680 Speaker 1: Brendan Allen Kenny, who I believe now has the division's 395 00:19:00,720 --> 00:19:04,320 Speaker 1: longest winning streak. He has won six consecutive fights, and 396 00:19:04,760 --> 00:19:07,040 Speaker 1: unlike most of the names I just mentioned, he put 397 00:19:07,080 --> 00:19:10,679 Speaker 1: away five of those guys. He hasn't been in a 398 00:19:10,720 --> 00:19:14,320 Speaker 1: boring fight. His style and theory would be a matchmaker's dream, 399 00:19:14,359 --> 00:19:16,919 Speaker 1: and he's a real effing problem for a lot of 400 00:19:16,960 --> 00:19:19,639 Speaker 1: these middleweight strikers. So I would turn it back to 401 00:19:19,680 --> 00:19:23,320 Speaker 1: you and say, who would you like to see Brendan 402 00:19:23,359 --> 00:19:26,359 Speaker 1: Allen fight next? And how many fights away is this 403 00:19:26,440 --> 00:19:29,640 Speaker 1: guy really to the championship? If I'm wrong to suggest 404 00:19:29,640 --> 00:19:32,000 Speaker 1: that the title eliminator is next, Yeah. 405 00:19:31,840 --> 00:19:34,920 Speaker 4: I listen. I think a fight against Robert Whitaker probably 406 00:19:35,000 --> 00:19:37,520 Speaker 4: makes sense. You beat someone like that who is a 407 00:19:37,560 --> 00:19:39,800 Speaker 4: true legend in the sport, a guy who has been 408 00:19:39,840 --> 00:19:43,439 Speaker 4: a champion in that division. That's the icing on the 409 00:19:43,480 --> 00:19:45,719 Speaker 4: cake for me. So I think that's the fight that 410 00:19:45,800 --> 00:19:47,120 Speaker 4: makes the most amount of sense. 411 00:19:47,920 --> 00:19:50,480 Speaker 1: So yeah, I mean, it's just difficult right to get 412 00:19:50,480 --> 00:19:52,840 Speaker 1: guys to sign on the dotted line and Brendan Allen, 413 00:19:52,880 --> 00:19:56,040 Speaker 1: I think, came in number ten in the world, and 414 00:19:56,760 --> 00:19:59,000 Speaker 1: I don't know if he can get that big fight. 415 00:19:59,040 --> 00:20:00,639 Speaker 1: But you know Marvin the two, he is not the 416 00:20:00,720 --> 00:20:02,959 Speaker 1: turning down type. And what's so interesting as I went 417 00:20:03,040 --> 00:20:05,879 Speaker 1: through this this morning, all of these guys have history 418 00:20:05,880 --> 00:20:08,520 Speaker 1: against each other. None of them really have fought Brendan Allen. Right, 419 00:20:08,560 --> 00:20:11,560 Speaker 1: he hasn't fought out Asana. He hasn't fought Duplus, he 420 00:20:11,600 --> 00:20:14,280 Speaker 1: hasn't fought Robert Whitaker. He hasn't fought Cannon here. He 421 00:20:14,320 --> 00:20:17,680 Speaker 1: hasn't fought for Tory, hasn't fought Paallo Costa, hasn't fought 422 00:20:17,680 --> 00:20:20,920 Speaker 1: the Leeds, A Kamzat, Jack Ermancy's fucking fought none of them. Right, 423 00:20:21,119 --> 00:20:24,080 Speaker 1: And as I'm wikipediaing all morning, very easy to bounce 424 00:20:24,119 --> 00:20:26,320 Speaker 1: around from midway contender to midway contender because they've all 425 00:20:26,320 --> 00:20:28,280 Speaker 1: fought each other. Brendan has fought none of them. All Right, 426 00:20:28,400 --> 00:20:31,800 Speaker 1: Hopefully that wasn't too long winded, But congratulations to Brendan Allen. 427 00:20:31,960 --> 00:20:34,840 Speaker 1: Looks absolutely outstanding in the purple Mark Russell suit. Right, 428 00:20:35,040 --> 00:20:37,600 Speaker 1: Let's get the man the purple shorts. And I even 429 00:20:37,600 --> 00:20:39,399 Speaker 1: thought when is he was the champion that this was 430 00:20:39,480 --> 00:20:43,840 Speaker 1: a particularly challenging stylistic matchup right, Brendan Allen puts guys away. 431 00:20:44,760 --> 00:20:47,000 Speaker 1: Fear is not a factor for him, and I think 432 00:20:47,000 --> 00:20:49,760 Speaker 1: for Paul Craig, right, I'm excited to see him moving 433 00:20:49,800 --> 00:20:52,040 Speaker 1: forward one hundred and eighty five pounds. It's always interesting 434 00:20:52,080 --> 00:20:55,280 Speaker 1: when the guy who is, you know, leads the league 435 00:20:55,320 --> 00:20:58,720 Speaker 1: in intensity, right, gets totally dominated, and then the other 436 00:20:58,760 --> 00:21:00,920 Speaker 1: guy just talks shit every step of the way after 437 00:21:00,960 --> 00:21:02,440 Speaker 1: the fight. But I do think Paul Craig will be 438 00:21:02,480 --> 00:21:03,000 Speaker 1: heard from them. 439 00:21:03,600 --> 00:21:07,040 Speaker 4: Yeah, Listen, I think that there's a major deficiency in 440 00:21:07,080 --> 00:21:11,120 Speaker 4: regards to athleticism with him. I thought he'd be way 441 00:21:11,240 --> 00:21:13,879 Speaker 4: stronger in some of those Clint situations, and it just 442 00:21:13,960 --> 00:21:16,399 Speaker 4: wasn't there. Now that's obviously a testament to Brendan Allen 443 00:21:16,440 --> 00:21:18,800 Speaker 4: as well. But if you're coming down from two hundred 444 00:21:18,800 --> 00:21:21,919 Speaker 4: and five pounds of getting man handled like that, you know, 445 00:21:22,040 --> 00:21:25,520 Speaker 4: certainly some technique could be improved. But even in some 446 00:21:25,880 --> 00:21:28,359 Speaker 4: of the like some of the exchanges on the feet, 447 00:21:28,400 --> 00:21:31,080 Speaker 4: he's just he's just a little bit too slow, a 448 00:21:31,119 --> 00:21:33,119 Speaker 4: little bit too weak in some of those some of 449 00:21:33,119 --> 00:21:36,080 Speaker 4: those areas, and he really is talented on the ground 450 00:21:36,080 --> 00:21:39,000 Speaker 4: that I thought he showed great improvements with his striking 451 00:21:39,520 --> 00:21:42,080 Speaker 4: in his last fight, his debut at one hundred and 452 00:21:42,119 --> 00:21:45,080 Speaker 4: eighty five pounds, but here we really never saw it 453 00:21:45,080 --> 00:21:48,520 Speaker 4: come to fruition. So yeah, I think he also kind 454 00:21:48,520 --> 00:21:50,760 Speaker 4: of suffers from a little bit of inconsistency. I don't 455 00:21:50,760 --> 00:21:53,919 Speaker 4: know if that's a mental thing or not. But you know, 456 00:21:53,960 --> 00:21:57,320 Speaker 4: Paul Craig definitely can contend with these guys. We just 457 00:21:57,440 --> 00:22:01,840 Speaker 4: haven't seen, you know, him put together performances back to 458 00:22:01,920 --> 00:22:04,920 Speaker 4: back to back, and I do think it's still new 459 00:22:04,960 --> 00:22:06,760 Speaker 4: for him being at one hundred and eighty five pounds. 460 00:22:06,800 --> 00:22:09,679 Speaker 4: Maybe there's a weight cut issue there, but I don't know. 461 00:22:09,880 --> 00:22:12,440 Speaker 4: I hope he's able to regroup because he really is 462 00:22:12,480 --> 00:22:13,920 Speaker 4: a nice guy with some good skills. 463 00:22:15,160 --> 00:22:18,040 Speaker 1: All Right, congratulations to Brennan Allen. I think a middleway 464 00:22:18,080 --> 00:22:20,080 Speaker 1: contender that's going to be heard from, and we'll see 465 00:22:20,080 --> 00:22:23,719 Speaker 1: what happens with Paul bar Jew Craig. All Right, comine 466 00:22:23,720 --> 00:22:26,240 Speaker 1: event goes to Michael Morales over Jake Matthews, and we 467 00:22:26,359 --> 00:22:29,680 Speaker 1: said of the Ecuadorian, Michael Morales just continuing to accrue 468 00:22:29,760 --> 00:22:33,240 Speaker 1: UFC experience, and gosh, I mean he just looks ready 469 00:22:33,280 --> 00:22:36,040 Speaker 1: to explode and concuss people. But again it's a unanimous 470 00:22:36,080 --> 00:22:38,840 Speaker 1: decision win for him thirty twenty seven and then twenty 471 00:22:38,920 --> 00:22:41,840 Speaker 1: nine to twenty eight times too against the UFC tried 472 00:22:41,880 --> 00:22:44,960 Speaker 1: and tested Jake Matthews. Your thoughts on the comain event, Kenflicker. 473 00:22:45,400 --> 00:22:48,520 Speaker 4: If I am a welterweight contender, if I am a 474 00:22:48,560 --> 00:22:54,440 Speaker 4: welterweight champion, I am keeping a file on Morales, absolutely, 475 00:22:54,520 --> 00:22:57,040 Speaker 4: because he is a guy that you need to scout out. 476 00:22:57,080 --> 00:23:00,159 Speaker 4: He is a guy that is accruing that experience, as 477 00:23:00,160 --> 00:23:04,960 Speaker 4: you mentioned, and that could really be very difficult for 478 00:23:05,000 --> 00:23:08,840 Speaker 4: a lot of fighters as he moves forward, because he's 479 00:23:08,960 --> 00:23:12,720 Speaker 4: getting a very good understanding of how to put things together. 480 00:23:13,480 --> 00:23:17,040 Speaker 4: He's getting a great understanding of how to be slick 481 00:23:17,080 --> 00:23:19,800 Speaker 4: out there at a very young age with not so 482 00:23:19,880 --> 00:23:22,760 Speaker 4: much experience at this stage of the game, and that's 483 00:23:22,760 --> 00:23:27,080 Speaker 4: scary to me. Athletically he's there, he can absolutely be elite. 484 00:23:27,960 --> 00:23:29,960 Speaker 4: I think that I'd like to see more of him 485 00:23:30,040 --> 00:23:34,080 Speaker 4: on the ground. I think he had a few, you know, 486 00:23:35,240 --> 00:23:38,160 Speaker 4: shots where he was trying to take Jake Matthews down. 487 00:23:38,200 --> 00:23:40,119 Speaker 4: He was shooting from a little bit too far away. 488 00:23:40,160 --> 00:23:43,160 Speaker 4: But as far as his striking goes, his shot selection, 489 00:23:43,640 --> 00:23:47,600 Speaker 4: his countering, his ability to adapt, his ability to disrupt 490 00:23:47,680 --> 00:23:52,440 Speaker 4: the base of Matthews, his size as a welterweight. He's 491 00:23:52,480 --> 00:23:55,919 Speaker 4: going to be a problem. I guarantee it. And you know, 492 00:23:56,040 --> 00:23:59,280 Speaker 4: him getting more and more experienced is not good for 493 00:23:59,320 --> 00:24:01,240 Speaker 4: the rest of the guys in that division, of course, 494 00:24:01,400 --> 00:24:04,000 Speaker 4: is a stack division. There's a ton of talent in 495 00:24:04,040 --> 00:24:08,159 Speaker 4: that division. But watch for him in a couple of years. 496 00:24:08,280 --> 00:24:10,720 Speaker 4: Keep a close eye on this kid, because I do 497 00:24:10,760 --> 00:24:11,720 Speaker 4: think he's that good. 498 00:24:12,840 --> 00:24:16,040 Speaker 1: I just kept finding myself wondering how this fight would 499 00:24:16,080 --> 00:24:18,240 Speaker 1: have played out with a crowd, and I guess the 500 00:24:18,280 --> 00:24:21,520 Speaker 1: answer is similarly. But just some of those shots, man, 501 00:24:21,560 --> 00:24:23,160 Speaker 1: I don't know if it's that I'm watching it at 502 00:24:23,160 --> 00:24:25,879 Speaker 1: home and it's like quiet at my house, and I 503 00:24:25,880 --> 00:24:28,359 Speaker 1: don't know if I'm overreacting to these shots, you know, 504 00:24:28,440 --> 00:24:31,720 Speaker 1: But I don't know. I'm excited for these guys to 505 00:24:31,720 --> 00:24:33,359 Speaker 1: get back in front of a crowd as well. I 506 00:24:33,440 --> 00:24:36,480 Speaker 1: just felt like it maybe would have been an inspiring 507 00:24:36,880 --> 00:24:38,640 Speaker 1: backdrop to that particular fight. 508 00:24:38,960 --> 00:24:39,280 Speaker 4: All right. 509 00:24:39,320 --> 00:24:41,679 Speaker 1: So a lot of the handicappers had strong opinions on 510 00:24:41,760 --> 00:24:44,720 Speaker 1: Chase Hooper versus Jordan Levitt, and we were sort of 511 00:24:44,760 --> 00:24:47,399 Speaker 1: lotting Chase Hooper's overall body of work Kenny, and he 512 00:24:48,200 --> 00:24:51,040 Speaker 1: wins a fight that the odds makers at least suggested 513 00:24:51,040 --> 00:24:53,760 Speaker 1: he was supposed to win over. Jordan Levitt goes into 514 00:24:53,800 --> 00:24:55,560 Speaker 1: the books as a rear naked choke and it comes 515 00:24:55,640 --> 00:24:58,240 Speaker 1: quickly two fifty eight of round number one. Your thoughts 516 00:24:58,240 --> 00:25:00,840 Speaker 1: on Chase Hooper getting another UFC win, Yeah, I. 517 00:25:00,800 --> 00:25:03,080 Speaker 4: Think that if I had a choice of picking that 518 00:25:03,119 --> 00:25:04,960 Speaker 4: fight again, I would I still would have gone with 519 00:25:05,000 --> 00:25:08,720 Speaker 4: Jordan Levit. He had his opportunities in that fight. He 520 00:25:08,880 --> 00:25:12,639 Speaker 4: was letting Chase Hooper back into this fight. He was 521 00:25:12,720 --> 00:25:15,680 Speaker 4: almost putting himself into some of these submissions. Of course, 522 00:25:15,840 --> 00:25:18,240 Speaker 4: you have to give credit to Chase Hooper, but I 523 00:25:18,320 --> 00:25:20,600 Speaker 4: don't know. It seemed like Jordan Levitt would do something 524 00:25:20,680 --> 00:25:23,760 Speaker 4: awesome and then kind of put himself into trouble again, 525 00:25:24,040 --> 00:25:26,280 Speaker 4: and then it would just keep happening over and over, 526 00:25:26,320 --> 00:25:29,160 Speaker 4: and I go, you cannot give a guy like Chase Hooper, 527 00:25:29,160 --> 00:25:33,320 Speaker 4: who is an excellent finisher, these opportunities, yet he kept 528 00:25:33,359 --> 00:25:37,919 Speaker 4: doing it. So Jordan is an excellent grappler, but Chase 529 00:25:38,119 --> 00:25:40,520 Speaker 4: is a very good finisher. I think that was the 530 00:25:40,560 --> 00:25:43,440 Speaker 4: difference here when he had his opportunities. He was able 531 00:25:43,480 --> 00:25:47,080 Speaker 4: to take care of business here some interesting exchanges. I 532 00:25:47,080 --> 00:25:49,320 Speaker 4: think more of it was kind of mistakes back and forth, 533 00:25:49,359 --> 00:25:51,560 Speaker 4: but Chase is a guy who continues to get better. 534 00:25:51,560 --> 00:25:54,200 Speaker 4: And I think this was a case of two guys 535 00:25:54,240 --> 00:25:56,280 Speaker 4: who were trying to get to that next level. They 536 00:25:56,280 --> 00:25:59,800 Speaker 4: were kind of, in my eyes, guys that were kind 537 00:25:59,800 --> 00:26:01,280 Speaker 4: of right in the kind of the middle of the 538 00:26:01,320 --> 00:26:03,679 Speaker 4: division that we're trying to break through, and it was 539 00:26:04,520 --> 00:26:07,360 Speaker 4: Chase Hooper who who was ultimately able to do that. 540 00:26:08,400 --> 00:26:10,439 Speaker 4: And I thought this was kind of a failure for 541 00:26:10,520 --> 00:26:13,200 Speaker 4: Jordan Levitt, who's got some great potential, does some great 542 00:26:13,200 --> 00:26:17,760 Speaker 4: things out there, but just kind of kept making mistakes 543 00:26:17,760 --> 00:26:19,880 Speaker 4: and you can't do that against someone like Hooper who 544 00:26:20,200 --> 00:26:21,440 Speaker 4: is not going to forget. 545 00:26:21,840 --> 00:26:24,160 Speaker 1: A lot of submissions. On the night Peyton Talbot had 546 00:26:24,200 --> 00:26:27,400 Speaker 1: one over Nicko. Geary was game, but Peyton Talbot's sort 547 00:26:27,400 --> 00:26:30,399 Speaker 1: of just an intriguing package for me. I wanted to 548 00:26:30,440 --> 00:26:32,320 Speaker 1: ask you about Amanda Hebas. She gets it done over 549 00:26:32,400 --> 00:26:35,679 Speaker 1: Luena Pinero, but not without taking like six hematomas, but 550 00:26:35,720 --> 00:26:38,040 Speaker 1: it's a spinning wheel kick and punches at three point 551 00:26:38,000 --> 00:26:41,879 Speaker 1: fifty three around three is Amanda Hebas so when you 552 00:26:41,920 --> 00:26:44,640 Speaker 1: suggest that someone's like the action hero of the one 553 00:26:44,760 --> 00:26:47,879 Speaker 1: hundred and fifteen pound division, I think it's suggestive of 554 00:26:47,920 --> 00:26:51,400 Speaker 1: them not being a contender. So it's a roundabout way 555 00:26:51,440 --> 00:26:53,720 Speaker 1: of asking you where her ceiling is at. But I 556 00:26:53,760 --> 00:26:57,320 Speaker 1: think she sort of settled into this action role. The 557 00:26:57,400 --> 00:27:00,800 Speaker 1: Macy Barber fight was just pints of blood all over 558 00:27:00,920 --> 00:27:04,119 Speaker 1: Duval County, and now a pretty violent affair here with 559 00:27:04,200 --> 00:27:06,160 Speaker 1: Lwana Piero. She gets a bonus and a TKO. 560 00:27:06,400 --> 00:27:08,640 Speaker 4: Yeah, I think that's a solid observation. Now, I don't 561 00:27:08,640 --> 00:27:12,160 Speaker 4: think that's a long term goal that she should have, right, 562 00:27:12,200 --> 00:27:14,399 Speaker 4: You don't want to be known as someone who can 563 00:27:14,520 --> 00:27:18,440 Speaker 4: take a lot of damage. However, it's a good trait 564 00:27:18,520 --> 00:27:22,359 Speaker 4: to have just in case. She is durable. She is tough. 565 00:27:22,720 --> 00:27:25,520 Speaker 4: She should absolutely have that, but she should keep that 566 00:27:25,640 --> 00:27:28,960 Speaker 4: in her back pocket. She cannot lead with that because 567 00:27:29,320 --> 00:27:32,920 Speaker 4: having a first round like that is not the way 568 00:27:32,960 --> 00:27:34,880 Speaker 4: you want to start a fight. And I think that 569 00:27:35,160 --> 00:27:39,639 Speaker 4: she sometimes gets too excited, maybe too emotional, where she 570 00:27:39,720 --> 00:27:42,080 Speaker 4: doesn't loosen up. She was a little too tight. Her 571 00:27:42,119 --> 00:27:45,040 Speaker 4: body was a little too square in her stance, which 572 00:27:45,119 --> 00:27:48,879 Speaker 4: offers a much larger target to her opponent, and Pinero 573 00:27:49,280 --> 00:27:53,200 Speaker 4: was tagging her with shots. Pinero's got some crazy power 574 00:27:53,200 --> 00:27:55,760 Speaker 4: at one hundred and fifteen pounds, dude. And also, by 575 00:27:55,800 --> 00:28:00,840 Speaker 4: the way, her judo is absolutely beautiful. She puts it together. 576 00:28:00,920 --> 00:28:01,160 Speaker 3: Man. 577 00:28:01,440 --> 00:28:04,600 Speaker 4: She was throwing Hebos around, and Hebos is a high 578 00:28:04,640 --> 00:28:07,720 Speaker 4: level judoka, but Pinero was just at a different level. 579 00:28:07,760 --> 00:28:12,800 Speaker 4: So skill wise, I think she's she needs more skill, 580 00:28:12,920 --> 00:28:16,880 Speaker 4: She needs more she needs to be more comfortable in 581 00:28:16,920 --> 00:28:20,520 Speaker 4: there with people like Pinero, and I think that she 582 00:28:20,600 --> 00:28:22,960 Speaker 4: was a little too stiff. But once she actually got 583 00:28:23,000 --> 00:28:25,520 Speaker 4: through round one, I think she started to settle down, 584 00:28:25,600 --> 00:28:29,680 Speaker 4: She started to relax, started finding her range and landing 585 00:28:29,760 --> 00:28:33,240 Speaker 4: big shots herself. And I think Pinero also was thrown 586 00:28:33,280 --> 00:28:35,520 Speaker 4: off by the fact that hebas is so damn tough 587 00:28:35,520 --> 00:28:38,240 Speaker 4: and so durable that she started to lose heart. She 588 00:28:38,360 --> 00:28:41,160 Speaker 4: started to lose confidence, and that's what durability and a 589 00:28:41,240 --> 00:28:46,120 Speaker 4: great chin and heart will do. So again, huge credit 590 00:28:46,160 --> 00:28:49,320 Speaker 4: to Hebos. She is an absolute savage, an absolute beast, 591 00:28:49,680 --> 00:28:52,400 Speaker 4: but she needs to fix how she starts in fight. 592 00:28:52,520 --> 00:28:55,040 Speaker 4: She cannot get behind the eight ball like that in 593 00:28:55,080 --> 00:28:58,080 Speaker 4: other fights, especially as she starts to establish herself as 594 00:28:58,120 --> 00:29:00,400 Speaker 4: elite in that division, because those ladies are just too 595 00:29:00,440 --> 00:29:02,760 Speaker 4: dang good and they're not going to get tired later 596 00:29:02,760 --> 00:29:03,200 Speaker 4: in a fight. 597 00:29:04,880 --> 00:29:07,960 Speaker 1: Outstanding can flow out fucking standing if you can only 598 00:29:07,960 --> 00:29:13,400 Speaker 1: imagine how good it sounds in these new UH cans 599 00:29:13,440 --> 00:29:17,360 Speaker 1: and new equipment. No, all right, Joe Anderson Brito can flow. 600 00:29:17,400 --> 00:29:21,400 Speaker 1: I am such an asshole. And Britel, you texted the 601 00:29:21,400 --> 00:29:24,400 Speaker 1: group that you wanted UH max units or added units 602 00:29:24,400 --> 00:29:27,080 Speaker 1: on Joe Anderson Brito. He wins it with a ninja 603 00:29:27,200 --> 00:29:30,920 Speaker 1: choke over JSP Jonathan Pierce, who will be back, Make 604 00:29:31,000 --> 00:29:33,360 Speaker 1: no mistakes about it. But Joe Anderson Brito can flow, 605 00:29:33,960 --> 00:29:36,480 Speaker 1: a guy that everybody has marked now, and I think rightfully. 606 00:29:36,520 --> 00:29:38,640 Speaker 1: So you were bullish on him? How come? And your 607 00:29:38,640 --> 00:29:39,240 Speaker 1: thoughts on the fight. 608 00:29:39,520 --> 00:29:42,280 Speaker 4: Yeah, he's just dangerous man, and he is game. You know, 609 00:29:43,080 --> 00:29:45,000 Speaker 4: when I was looking at his fights, I went back. 610 00:29:45,040 --> 00:29:46,760 Speaker 4: I said, I'm going to look at these fights again. 611 00:29:46,840 --> 00:29:50,360 Speaker 4: I think there's some value here. I think Pierce is 612 00:29:50,440 --> 00:29:53,800 Speaker 4: probably more solid all the way around as far his 613 00:29:54,160 --> 00:29:58,640 Speaker 4: as far as his vulnerabilities, doesn't make as many mistakes 614 00:29:58,680 --> 00:30:04,000 Speaker 4: as Brito. But I thought it was worth like putting 615 00:30:04,040 --> 00:30:07,640 Speaker 4: more units on Brito just because he goes for it. Man, 616 00:30:07,760 --> 00:30:10,160 Speaker 4: he's not trying to hit you. He's trying to hurt you. 617 00:30:10,360 --> 00:30:12,840 Speaker 4: He's trying to finish you with every chance he gets. 618 00:30:13,080 --> 00:30:16,240 Speaker 4: Sometimes gets a little too aggressive, as we saw when 619 00:30:16,240 --> 00:30:18,120 Speaker 4: he tried to jump on the back of Pierce early. 620 00:30:18,160 --> 00:30:22,040 Speaker 4: He got lost position, but athletically he was superior, and 621 00:30:22,160 --> 00:30:26,080 Speaker 4: his finishing ability is what impressed me most. And dealing 622 00:30:26,080 --> 00:30:28,760 Speaker 4: with a guy like that who is trying to kill 623 00:30:28,800 --> 00:30:31,480 Speaker 4: you every single second in that fight, I thought there 624 00:30:31,520 --> 00:30:34,200 Speaker 4: was a lot of value there. Pierce did a great 625 00:30:34,280 --> 00:30:36,760 Speaker 4: job when he was getting that top position, but he 626 00:30:36,920 --> 00:30:40,720 Speaker 4: just wasn't able to control that honey badger in Brito, 627 00:30:41,240 --> 00:30:43,680 Speaker 4: and I'm glad I ended up putting on those units. 628 00:30:43,680 --> 00:30:47,160 Speaker 4: You know, it ended up paying off. But Brito is dangerous, dude. 629 00:30:47,200 --> 00:30:50,920 Speaker 4: He is extremely dangerous. And I think it was also 630 00:30:51,080 --> 00:30:53,200 Speaker 4: tough for Pierce. He was coming off of a long layoff. 631 00:30:53,240 --> 00:30:55,240 Speaker 4: You know, it's hard to get in that groove when 632 00:30:55,280 --> 00:30:57,000 Speaker 4: you've been away from the ocdad for that long for 633 00:30:57,040 --> 00:30:59,000 Speaker 4: most people, for most fighters, I think that's the case. 634 00:30:59,360 --> 00:31:02,280 Speaker 1: Also thought Ristion and Leroy Duncan just physically look to 635 00:31:02,480 --> 00:31:05,720 Speaker 1: have responded in the gym to his first professional loss. 636 00:31:05,720 --> 00:31:08,240 Speaker 1: I believe as he gets it done over Dennis Tulul 637 00:31:08,280 --> 00:31:11,080 Speaker 1: and by Tko Moore. Coming up on UFC Fight Night, 638 00:31:11,120 --> 00:31:14,040 Speaker 1: Allen versus Craig in the Ray Longo minute in about 639 00:31:14,040 --> 00:31:16,920 Speaker 1: twenty minutes or so. Just wanted to acknowledge a few 640 00:31:16,920 --> 00:31:19,080 Speaker 1: Bellatour winners over the weekend and then get Ken Flow's 641 00:31:19,120 --> 00:31:23,520 Speaker 1: thoughts real quick on PFL ten. Cody did populate some 642 00:31:24,520 --> 00:31:27,760 Speaker 1: betting lines in here incidentally on PFL ten, so I'm 643 00:31:27,760 --> 00:31:31,480 Speaker 1: going to get back to those. But Jason Jackson becomes 644 00:31:31,520 --> 00:31:35,680 Speaker 1: the Bellatour welterweight champion and Patchie Mix in a unification 645 00:31:35,760 --> 00:31:39,160 Speaker 1: about defeats Sergio Pettis by rear naked show Patchi Mix, 646 00:31:39,200 --> 00:31:40,960 Speaker 1: I think most people understand now is one of the 647 00:31:41,000 --> 00:31:43,520 Speaker 1: best thirty five ers in the world, and certainly Bellatoor's 648 00:31:43,560 --> 00:31:45,720 Speaker 1: future remains to be seen as to where these champions 649 00:31:45,720 --> 00:31:47,280 Speaker 1: are going to go. But I just want to get 650 00:31:47,320 --> 00:31:49,840 Speaker 1: to Jason Jackson a little bit because I have met 651 00:31:49,880 --> 00:31:52,200 Speaker 1: and gotten to sort of hang out with this dude 652 00:31:52,280 --> 00:31:55,520 Speaker 1: on buses right as he corners his Kilcliff teammates with 653 00:31:55,560 --> 00:31:58,480 Speaker 1: the UFC. So he tried out for the Ultimate Fighter 654 00:31:58,520 --> 00:32:00,880 Speaker 1: in twenty fifteen. He's now thirty three years of age, 655 00:32:00,920 --> 00:32:04,400 Speaker 1: then he is on Dana White's Contender Series. In twenty seventeen, 656 00:32:04,880 --> 00:32:08,200 Speaker 1: he suffered an ankle injury and a TKO loss. Right 657 00:32:08,200 --> 00:32:12,040 Speaker 1: then there was a twenty nineteen split decision loss to 658 00:32:12,240 --> 00:32:16,600 Speaker 1: Ed Ruth, former three time NCAAD one National Champion wrestler 659 00:32:16,640 --> 00:32:19,240 Speaker 1: Right and that has since that lost to ed Ruth 660 00:32:19,280 --> 00:32:22,800 Speaker 1: been followed up by a seven fight winning streak, capstone 661 00:32:22,880 --> 00:32:24,640 Speaker 1: by just beating a guy who was twenty seven to 662 00:32:24,720 --> 00:32:28,120 Speaker 1: zero to become the Belatore welterweight champion. And gosh, man, 663 00:32:28,160 --> 00:32:30,400 Speaker 1: it just makes me feel so good, you know, in 664 00:32:30,440 --> 00:32:32,680 Speaker 1: my heart for a guy like this, who you've seen 665 00:32:32,720 --> 00:32:35,440 Speaker 1: on these buses, maybe knowing how good he was Ken 666 00:32:35,520 --> 00:32:37,880 Speaker 1: Flow waiting for his moment. I didn't even know who 667 00:32:37,960 --> 00:32:39,760 Speaker 1: Jason Jackson was when I met him. I didn't know 668 00:32:39,800 --> 00:32:41,600 Speaker 1: that he had tried out for the Ultimate Fighter. I 669 00:32:41,600 --> 00:32:44,120 Speaker 1: don't ingest the Contender Series every Tuesday night because I 670 00:32:44,160 --> 00:32:46,640 Speaker 1: got kids, right, So I didn't even know his history 671 00:32:46,720 --> 00:32:50,640 Speaker 1: except I knew that he was really good and his 672 00:32:50,680 --> 00:32:53,080 Speaker 1: teammates liked him. He was a good teammate. And then 673 00:32:53,080 --> 00:32:54,720 Speaker 1: I started digging into him a little bit and seeing 674 00:32:54,720 --> 00:32:57,160 Speaker 1: a guy like that become a world champion man. It's 675 00:32:57,200 --> 00:33:00,880 Speaker 1: just super special man changes his life and otherwise just 676 00:33:00,920 --> 00:33:02,360 Speaker 1: really happy for Jason Jackson. 677 00:33:02,440 --> 00:33:04,520 Speaker 4: Yeah, no question about it. And he's a guy I 678 00:33:04,560 --> 00:33:07,240 Speaker 4: always see it at the PFL events as well. He's 679 00:33:07,280 --> 00:33:10,440 Speaker 4: cornering I think every fighter at the Kilcliff Jim. He's 680 00:33:10,480 --> 00:33:12,960 Speaker 4: always around, which you know tells you a lot when 681 00:33:13,200 --> 00:33:15,960 Speaker 4: you see fighters that choose to have him in there. 682 00:33:16,720 --> 00:33:20,240 Speaker 4: They must respect his training ability, his experience and his mind. 683 00:33:20,760 --> 00:33:22,760 Speaker 4: And I think that's the guy who's been grinding for 684 00:33:22,800 --> 00:33:25,120 Speaker 4: a long time. To see it all come together for 685 00:33:25,200 --> 00:33:29,520 Speaker 4: him is great news. Always friendly guy, always smiling and 686 00:33:29,960 --> 00:33:32,640 Speaker 4: uh that's a good side, dude. Good good news there. 687 00:33:32,840 --> 00:33:38,840 Speaker 1: Jason Jackson patching next on the World Championships. All right, 688 00:33:40,560 --> 00:33:42,080 Speaker 1: that's enough of that. See I can pop that ship 689 00:33:42,160 --> 00:33:44,440 Speaker 1: right down with a noise man. It's outstanding. Getting going 690 00:33:44,480 --> 00:33:46,600 Speaker 1: on the road caster a little bit scale of one 691 00:33:46,640 --> 00:33:48,760 Speaker 1: and ten. The comments, how annoyed are you by me today? 692 00:33:48,800 --> 00:33:50,960 Speaker 1: Just wait ti the way, I'm all right at PFL 693 00:33:51,080 --> 00:33:54,360 Speaker 1: ten Beckons this Friday night, November twenty fourth at the 694 00:33:54,400 --> 00:33:56,560 Speaker 1: Anthem in Washington, d C. You thought I was going 695 00:33:56,640 --> 00:33:59,440 Speaker 1: to say in New York City again, but no, we're 696 00:33:59,440 --> 00:34:01,480 Speaker 1: actually here on because I'm going to New York City 697 00:34:01,520 --> 00:34:07,200 Speaker 1: with my children. God bless me, help me, all right, 698 00:34:07,240 --> 00:34:09,160 Speaker 1: So I just want to do a little bit of 699 00:34:09,160 --> 00:34:11,640 Speaker 1: tree tops on this PFL stuff we got long ago. 700 00:34:11,680 --> 00:34:14,200 Speaker 1: Coming up here shortly Derek Runson in about five minutes. 701 00:34:14,239 --> 00:34:15,839 Speaker 1: But I just want to rifle through some of these 702 00:34:15,840 --> 00:34:18,840 Speaker 1: big fights and just get any sort of overreaching thoughts 703 00:34:18,880 --> 00:34:22,120 Speaker 1: you have before we move on. So Olivier Obama Mercier 704 00:34:22,239 --> 00:34:25,600 Speaker 1: versus Clay Collin collar plus two twenty one. Right now, 705 00:34:25,680 --> 00:34:29,160 Speaker 1: Ken Flow Oam is minus two seventy hen and Fajita 706 00:34:29,440 --> 00:34:33,640 Speaker 1: Dennis is at Goltsov and my pronouncing that Dennis Goltsov 707 00:34:33,840 --> 00:34:36,560 Speaker 1: in the heavyweight division. Larissa Pacheco, she got a shout 708 00:34:36,560 --> 00:34:39,000 Speaker 1: out on UFC broadcast by John Annack recently. By the way, 709 00:34:39,800 --> 00:34:43,120 Speaker 1: Mago med Maga mad Karamov taken on Sadabuc, Jos Silvera 710 00:34:43,160 --> 00:34:46,080 Speaker 1: and Implicasanganai have fight a particular interest for me, of course, 711 00:34:46,280 --> 00:34:49,000 Speaker 1: Conan Son taking on Impakasan Gai, who I run in 712 00:34:49,040 --> 00:34:51,640 Speaker 1: all over South Florida. And then Kayla Harrison is back 713 00:34:51,680 --> 00:34:54,280 Speaker 1: against the relatively short notice replacement. If I'm not mistaken 714 00:34:54,320 --> 00:34:56,920 Speaker 1: Aspen lad and our next guest, Derek Runson taking on 715 00:34:57,040 --> 00:34:58,960 Speaker 1: Ray Cooper. The third, on and on it goes. You 716 00:34:59,000 --> 00:35:02,440 Speaker 1: got Biagio, Ali, Chris Wade, Baba Jenkins. But your thoughts 717 00:35:02,440 --> 00:35:06,279 Speaker 1: initially can flow on the main card ESPN plus pay 718 00:35:06,280 --> 00:35:08,680 Speaker 1: per view, can flow with a hot microphone. I'll be 719 00:35:08,719 --> 00:35:10,879 Speaker 1: watching on November twenty fourth, can flow? 720 00:35:10,880 --> 00:35:12,759 Speaker 4: Talk to me right a man? Thank you? Yeah, No, 721 00:35:12,840 --> 00:35:15,719 Speaker 4: I'm really excited. Man. All the finals that I've been 722 00:35:15,760 --> 00:35:18,160 Speaker 4: a part of have always delivered. You know, you got 723 00:35:18,160 --> 00:35:20,719 Speaker 4: a million dollars on the line, So obviously both of 724 00:35:20,760 --> 00:35:23,880 Speaker 4: these fighters realized that, you know, this is an insane 725 00:35:23,920 --> 00:35:27,839 Speaker 4: opportunity to really and genuinely change your life. So they 726 00:35:27,840 --> 00:35:30,520 Speaker 4: always fight extremely hard. We always get a lot of finishes, 727 00:35:30,520 --> 00:35:32,800 Speaker 4: We always get a lot of excitement. We have Kayla 728 00:35:32,840 --> 00:35:38,279 Speaker 4: Harrison coming back, and yeah, I'm just I can't wait 729 00:35:38,320 --> 00:35:40,440 Speaker 4: to get out there and call these fights. And you know, 730 00:35:40,560 --> 00:35:44,799 Speaker 4: these guys have been working extremely hard. As you know, John, 731 00:35:45,040 --> 00:35:47,280 Speaker 4: you start to get close to a lot of these guys, 732 00:35:47,400 --> 00:35:49,920 Speaker 4: you know, you see how much they've gone through personally 733 00:35:50,000 --> 00:35:53,200 Speaker 4: and in the cage, and there's just so many great 734 00:35:53,200 --> 00:35:58,320 Speaker 4: matchups that I'm looking forward to. So yeah, November twenty fourth. 735 00:35:58,719 --> 00:36:01,160 Speaker 1: I mean large mpaships all the line. I don't know 736 00:36:01,200 --> 00:36:03,520 Speaker 1: if your bosses are listening. I will purchase this pay 737 00:36:03,520 --> 00:36:05,880 Speaker 1: per view because Kenny Florian is calling the fight and 738 00:36:05,920 --> 00:36:08,200 Speaker 1: I'm not trying to be funny. I'm wearing a Kenny 739 00:36:08,200 --> 00:36:11,640 Speaker 1: Florian shirt president of Team Florian. Fine, I'm just saying no, 740 00:36:11,800 --> 00:36:15,800 Speaker 1: I'm just talking in facts. You know, Brendan Allen appreciated 741 00:36:15,920 --> 00:36:18,600 Speaker 1: my tweet that said, you know, title eliminator has to 742 00:36:18,600 --> 00:36:21,040 Speaker 1: be next, and you know, ninety percent of people think 743 00:36:21,040 --> 00:36:24,000 Speaker 1: I'm a schill and a hyperbolic and it's not none 744 00:36:24,080 --> 00:36:26,839 Speaker 1: of those things. Right, Like, even when Brendan appreciates that, 745 00:36:26,880 --> 00:36:28,960 Speaker 1: it's like, hey, man, like we might be friends. But 746 00:36:29,239 --> 00:36:31,440 Speaker 1: I'm just speaking in facts, right. He's won six in 747 00:36:31,560 --> 00:36:33,120 Speaker 1: roz one hundred and eighty five pounds, five of those 748 00:36:33,120 --> 00:36:35,480 Speaker 1: by rear naked choke, Right, I'm just speaking in facts, right, 749 00:36:35,560 --> 00:36:38,799 Speaker 1: Like I love all these fighters. Kayla Harrison is my girl, 750 00:36:38,960 --> 00:36:41,000 Speaker 1: But why am I buying the pay per view? Can 751 00:36:41,080 --> 00:36:45,160 Speaker 1: flow on a hot fucking Micropomas. I'm honest. So Impakazanga 752 00:36:45,160 --> 00:36:47,960 Speaker 1: guys minus one sixty two and Josh Silvera is plus 753 00:36:47,960 --> 00:36:49,680 Speaker 1: one thirty six, And this kind of feels like the 754 00:36:49,760 --> 00:36:52,640 Speaker 1: ultimate win win for me because for Conan right to 755 00:36:52,680 --> 00:36:55,680 Speaker 1: see his son realize a million dollars right in this 756 00:36:55,719 --> 00:36:59,240 Speaker 1: particular format, and to realize some modicum of mixed martial 757 00:36:59,320 --> 00:37:03,240 Speaker 1: arts greatness becoming a world champion, and then for Impakasangan 758 00:37:03,239 --> 00:37:05,720 Speaker 1: and I on the wrong end of the Joaquin Buckley knockout, 759 00:37:05,800 --> 00:37:10,800 Speaker 1: on the wrong end of the most virally robust knockout 760 00:37:10,800 --> 00:37:13,280 Speaker 1: in UFC history, for in to respond in this way, 761 00:37:13,719 --> 00:37:16,600 Speaker 1: it's a tremendous fight, and hopefully there isn't like a 762 00:37:16,719 --> 00:37:20,080 Speaker 1: draw type circumstance, right, hopefully one of those wins a 763 00:37:20,120 --> 00:37:23,000 Speaker 1: million dollars. So 832 00:40:30,920 --> 00:40:33,000 Speaker 1: what would you say to a guy like Blow Muhammad 833 00:40:33,560 --> 00:40:36,760 Speaker 1: who is sort of idling and waiting for a title 834 00:40:36,800 --> 00:40:39,680 Speaker 1: fight that may or may not materialize It's funny. 835 00:40:39,719 --> 00:40:43,799 Speaker 5: Blalla is one of my friends, so I talked to him. 836 00:40:43,880 --> 00:40:46,000 Speaker 6: I just hit him up like randomly and like, hey, man, 837 00:40:46,120 --> 00:40:48,279 Speaker 6: like you're on a crazy streak, you know. 838 00:40:48,719 --> 00:40:48,919 Speaker 7: Now. 839 00:40:48,960 --> 00:40:51,319 Speaker 6: I think non fights in a row, like wait for 840 00:40:51,400 --> 00:40:53,920 Speaker 6: your title shot. 841 00:40:54,360 --> 00:40:56,520 Speaker 5: They don't come by often. They don't come by often. 842 00:40:56,560 --> 00:40:58,360 Speaker 6: You know, you can go out there and fight somebody, 843 00:40:58,760 --> 00:41:01,719 Speaker 6: lose a close decision, you can win a fight, lose 844 00:41:01,719 --> 00:41:04,400 Speaker 6: a split decision, and then you're pretty much back to 845 00:41:04,440 --> 00:41:07,279 Speaker 6: square one and it's going to be a long road back, 846 00:41:07,560 --> 00:41:07,759 Speaker 6: you know. 847 00:41:07,880 --> 00:41:10,239 Speaker 5: So I think everybody when they're in that position. 848 00:41:10,040 --> 00:41:12,120 Speaker 6: You definitely need to like wait it out, you know, 849 00:41:13,200 --> 00:41:15,480 Speaker 6: get the title shot, because you know, those things don't 850 00:41:15,480 --> 00:41:17,880 Speaker 6: come by every day. 851 00:41:20,239 --> 00:41:20,560 Speaker 5: Derek. 852 00:41:20,960 --> 00:41:23,520 Speaker 4: You know, as of right now, the PFL doesn't have 853 00:41:23,640 --> 00:41:26,640 Speaker 4: a middleweight division. I see this as a great sign 854 00:41:26,680 --> 00:41:28,680 Speaker 4: that they're opening up a fight here for you. Have 855 00:41:28,760 --> 00:41:32,480 Speaker 4: you heard anything from the PFL in regards to potentially 856 00:41:32,719 --> 00:41:34,640 Speaker 4: starting a middleway I haven't. 857 00:41:34,719 --> 00:41:36,480 Speaker 6: The plan as of right now is to fight this 858 00:41:36,520 --> 00:41:40,000 Speaker 6: fight and compete at two o five. So yeah, we're 859 00:41:40,040 --> 00:41:43,359 Speaker 6: gonna like play it by ear. The most important thing 860 00:41:43,440 --> 00:41:46,120 Speaker 6: is his first fight, and then yeah, we'll go from there. 861 00:41:48,520 --> 00:41:51,120 Speaker 4: And Derek, You're taking on Ray Bruna Cooper, a guy 862 00:41:51,160 --> 00:41:54,040 Speaker 4: who's a big time knockout artist. But some may argue 863 00:41:54,040 --> 00:41:56,279 Speaker 4: he's a little bit small even for welter weight, right 864 00:41:56,280 --> 00:41:58,239 Speaker 4: as far as height and all that stuff. You're a 865 00:41:58,360 --> 00:42:02,640 Speaker 4: massive middleweight. You know, tell me about this fight and 866 00:42:02,680 --> 00:42:03,200 Speaker 4: how you see this. 867 00:42:03,480 --> 00:42:06,799 Speaker 6: You know for sure, you know he's a shorter guy. 868 00:42:06,880 --> 00:42:10,480 Speaker 6: You know, got short reached. I heard a couple of interviews. 869 00:42:10,520 --> 00:42:12,640 Speaker 6: He's ready for the fight. He feels gonna get the knockout. 870 00:42:12,800 --> 00:42:14,839 Speaker 6: So like I'm ready for the fight. I feel I'm 871 00:42:14,840 --> 00:42:17,440 Speaker 6: gonna get the knockout. But I know some of the 872 00:42:17,440 --> 00:42:19,680 Speaker 6: mistakes I made in the past of you know, it's 873 00:42:19,719 --> 00:42:22,160 Speaker 6: not that I wasn't working hard. I always work hard, 874 00:42:22,400 --> 00:42:25,560 Speaker 6: but it's like small, little intricate details like running. Like 875 00:42:25,600 --> 00:42:28,160 Speaker 6: if a doctor say, hey, your knees from wrestling may 876 00:42:28,160 --> 00:42:32,960 Speaker 6: be a little you know, wear and tear, do strikething, conditioning, 877 00:42:33,080 --> 00:42:34,640 Speaker 6: but no, a guy like me, I need to run, 878 00:42:34,680 --> 00:42:36,880 Speaker 6: you know, especially when you compete in these high level fights, 879 00:42:37,280 --> 00:42:39,239 Speaker 6: you have to be able to keep that pace and 880 00:42:39,280 --> 00:42:41,719 Speaker 6: maintain that pace. So I've been running my ass off 881 00:42:41,760 --> 00:42:43,759 Speaker 6: for the last six weeks, putting about seven to ten 882 00:42:43,800 --> 00:42:48,040 Speaker 6: miles in a week. So if anybody's expecting me to 883 00:42:48,040 --> 00:42:50,320 Speaker 6: get tired, if I get tired, if I'm even breathing 884 00:42:51,560 --> 00:42:54,239 Speaker 6: hard at all, I will be pleasantly surprised. 885 00:42:54,280 --> 00:42:56,560 Speaker 5: Like I plan on going out there being a brand 886 00:42:56,600 --> 00:42:56,880 Speaker 5: new me. 887 00:42:57,280 --> 00:42:59,080 Speaker 6: I've been adding some new wrinkles to my camp at 888 00:42:59,120 --> 00:43:01,279 Speaker 6: age thirty nine, and I think that's going to be 889 00:43:01,280 --> 00:43:01,840 Speaker 6: like the best. 890 00:43:01,680 --> 00:43:02,440 Speaker 5: Version of myself. 891 00:43:02,680 --> 00:43:04,799 Speaker 1: That's great to hear, man, especially about the road work. 892 00:43:04,880 --> 00:43:06,640 Speaker 1: So can you peel back the curtain a little bit 893 00:43:06,640 --> 00:43:08,799 Speaker 1: as far as the training camp is concerned, and who 894 00:43:08,800 --> 00:43:11,000 Speaker 1: have been some of the primary bodies that you've been 895 00:43:11,000 --> 00:43:12,200 Speaker 1: working with on the day to day. 896 00:43:12,960 --> 00:43:14,359 Speaker 5: Yeah. So I went down to. 897 00:43:15,960 --> 00:43:18,960 Speaker 6: Florida for a little bit at Kill Cliff and I 898 00:43:19,000 --> 00:43:21,960 Speaker 6: was trained down there, you know, Brandon Allen, Gilbrick Burns, 899 00:43:21,960 --> 00:43:24,399 Speaker 6: There's a lot of guys down there for Sante Luke. 900 00:43:26,440 --> 00:43:28,760 Speaker 6: And now I'm actually finishing up my camp in Atlanta 901 00:43:28,840 --> 00:43:32,880 Speaker 6: with the guy that I worked with before, Maneu from 902 00:43:33,719 --> 00:43:34,640 Speaker 6: Manu Kickboxing. 903 00:43:34,680 --> 00:43:36,520 Speaker 5: He's a very good kickboxing coach. 904 00:43:37,920 --> 00:43:39,759 Speaker 6: And it's like I'm bringing back the oh, you know, 905 00:43:39,840 --> 00:43:42,399 Speaker 6: when I can just put together tactical strikes. So I'm 906 00:43:42,400 --> 00:43:45,680 Speaker 6: feeling really good where I'm at right now, finish up 907 00:43:45,680 --> 00:43:48,279 Speaker 6: camp there. I got some people coming in for like 908 00:43:48,360 --> 00:43:50,279 Speaker 6: bodies as far as spawning and grapple and stuff like that, 909 00:43:50,280 --> 00:43:52,479 Speaker 6: and it's kind of like centered around me a post 910 00:43:52,560 --> 00:43:56,120 Speaker 6: to my good camp at where I'm at right now. 911 00:43:56,200 --> 00:43:58,160 Speaker 6: I needed a whole bunch of reps and just get 912 00:43:58,200 --> 00:44:00,839 Speaker 6: back in my groove. And yeah, I'm starting to hit 913 00:44:00,880 --> 00:44:04,680 Speaker 6: that stride. Yeah, yeah, he's like he want to talk. 914 00:44:05,080 --> 00:44:07,440 Speaker 6: This man will talk your head off. I mean, I'll 915 00:44:07,440 --> 00:44:08,600 Speaker 6: be like, coach, let's get to work. 916 00:44:08,640 --> 00:44:09,960 Speaker 5: You know, I can't. I came to work, you know, 917 00:44:10,000 --> 00:44:11,840 Speaker 5: my hands and a round. I don't want to talk anymore, 918 00:44:11,880 --> 00:44:12,080 Speaker 5: you know. 919 00:44:12,520 --> 00:44:15,040 Speaker 6: But you know the thing about him, though, is that 920 00:44:15,440 --> 00:44:18,600 Speaker 6: sometimes you go to these bigger camps, it's so many guys, 921 00:44:19,920 --> 00:44:21,719 Speaker 6: so you kind of get lost in the shuffle in 922 00:44:21,800 --> 00:44:24,600 Speaker 6: terms of like let's say it's like four three or 923 00:44:24,600 --> 00:44:28,800 Speaker 6: four kickboxing coaches and it's like fifty sixty guys that 924 00:44:28,880 --> 00:44:30,840 Speaker 6: need passed. The coaches will try to, you know, do 925 00:44:31,000 --> 00:44:34,319 Speaker 6: pads with like fifteen guys at one time, and that's 926 00:44:34,320 --> 00:44:37,520 Speaker 6: not really conduced to somebody who really needed when Whereas 927 00:44:37,760 --> 00:44:39,960 Speaker 6: if I go to the news, the news gonna work 928 00:44:40,040 --> 00:44:42,400 Speaker 6: me for like an hour and a half straight, and 929 00:44:42,440 --> 00:44:44,360 Speaker 6: it's like I'm like, all right, coach, I'm ready to 930 00:44:44,360 --> 00:44:44,799 Speaker 6: do something else. 931 00:44:44,800 --> 00:44:47,040 Speaker 5: I'm ready to go get some food, you know. But 932 00:44:47,160 --> 00:44:48,920 Speaker 5: he's going to give you that personal work. 933 00:44:48,960 --> 00:44:51,359 Speaker 6: And I think that's very valuable, you know, for like 934 00:44:51,880 --> 00:44:54,759 Speaker 6: skill development and like really fund that groove because like 935 00:44:55,160 --> 00:44:57,880 Speaker 6: from like two weeks ago to now, I feel like, 936 00:44:58,120 --> 00:44:59,439 Speaker 6: you know, brand new man. 937 00:45:00,040 --> 00:45:03,400 Speaker 1: That's great to hear. Derek Brightson. We're listener on the 938 00:45:03,440 --> 00:45:05,640 Speaker 1: Anakin Flooring podcast. You can see him fight I believe 939 00:45:05,680 --> 00:45:08,719 Speaker 1: the pay per view open or November twenty fourth against. 940 00:45:09,719 --> 00:45:11,120 Speaker 5: You guys see my fighter last night? 941 00:45:12,400 --> 00:45:15,600 Speaker 4: No your guy? 942 00:45:16,040 --> 00:45:16,200 Speaker 3: Yeah? 943 00:45:16,280 --> 00:45:18,080 Speaker 6: Yeah, So I managed him. I started managing him when 944 00:45:18,080 --> 00:45:20,600 Speaker 6: he was three and oh and now he's ten and oh. 945 00:45:20,719 --> 00:45:22,799 Speaker 6: So I doubbled in the management little bit when I'm 946 00:45:22,840 --> 00:45:23,759 Speaker 6: super excited about that. 947 00:45:23,800 --> 00:45:25,240 Speaker 5: So I want to go ahead and let you guys. 948 00:45:25,040 --> 00:45:26,279 Speaker 4: Know, I want to hear that again. 949 00:45:26,360 --> 00:45:28,160 Speaker 1: You cut out. Maybe it was only on my end. 950 00:45:28,200 --> 00:45:30,800 Speaker 1: So V Tour is one of several fighters you now manage, 951 00:45:30,840 --> 00:45:31,279 Speaker 1: Is that right? 952 00:45:31,760 --> 00:45:32,400 Speaker 5: Right? Correct? 953 00:45:32,440 --> 00:45:35,960 Speaker 6: I got like, uh, I would say, like five or 954 00:45:36,000 --> 00:45:37,600 Speaker 6: six fighters that I managed. 955 00:45:37,640 --> 00:45:37,799 Speaker 3: Yeah. 956 00:45:37,880 --> 00:45:39,880 Speaker 5: Vchur is one of them. I started managing when he 957 00:45:39,920 --> 00:45:41,480 Speaker 5: was three and oh and now he's ten and. 958 00:45:41,680 --> 00:45:46,360 Speaker 1: Three and so well, congratulations, good for you, Derek Brunts. 959 00:45:46,400 --> 00:45:48,600 Speaker 1: His next fight November twenty fourth against Ray Cooper the 960 00:45:48,640 --> 00:45:50,600 Speaker 1: third and you know he's got momentum, right, He's won 961 00:45:50,680 --> 00:45:52,800 Speaker 1: seven of eight. I got to think you're you're excited 962 00:45:52,800 --> 00:45:54,440 Speaker 1: about that part of things. I want to sort of 963 00:45:54,440 --> 00:45:56,839 Speaker 1: reflect a little bit before we get you out of here. 964 00:45:57,040 --> 00:46:00,279 Speaker 1: In terms of your UFC career, I'm sure you get 965 00:46:00,320 --> 00:46:02,520 Speaker 1: asked a lot like what was your most memorable win? 966 00:46:02,640 --> 00:46:04,719 Speaker 1: I guess I would phrase it a different way, like 967 00:46:04,800 --> 00:46:08,560 Speaker 1: what's the best you ever felt the night following a 968 00:46:08,600 --> 00:46:10,560 Speaker 1: big win in the ufcity. 969 00:46:11,880 --> 00:46:12,959 Speaker 5: I would say. 970 00:46:12,640 --> 00:46:15,880 Speaker 6: The first like bigger contract that I got was whenever 971 00:46:15,920 --> 00:46:19,279 Speaker 6: I fought Machitah in Sapolo. I was able to go 972 00:46:19,280 --> 00:46:21,400 Speaker 6: out there and get a knockout in the first round, 973 00:46:21,680 --> 00:46:27,000 Speaker 6: you know, former UFC champion, super skilled fighter. Yeah, and 974 00:46:27,000 --> 00:46:29,360 Speaker 6: then you know after I knocked him out. I believe 975 00:46:29,400 --> 00:46:31,840 Speaker 6: he went on to win like three of his next four. 976 00:46:32,080 --> 00:46:35,400 Speaker 6: You know, he only lost. He went went and for 977 00:46:35,560 --> 00:46:38,000 Speaker 6: some tough guys and he lost like a title eliminator 978 00:46:38,360 --> 00:46:41,040 Speaker 6: or or for the title, maybe against Musasi. 979 00:46:40,719 --> 00:46:41,479 Speaker 5: Or something like that. 980 00:46:41,640 --> 00:46:43,879 Speaker 1: Yep, And it was a split decision or something like that. 981 00:46:43,960 --> 00:46:45,839 Speaker 6: But like, you know, I fought a pretty good guy there, 982 00:46:45,920 --> 00:46:48,839 Speaker 6: so I would say definitely felt good after that fight. 983 00:46:48,880 --> 00:46:54,000 Speaker 6: It was my first big, bigger contract right in Spoo. 984 00:46:54,480 --> 00:46:56,440 Speaker 5: You know, everything was like against me, and I went 985 00:46:56,440 --> 00:46:57,120 Speaker 5: out there and got. 986 00:46:56,960 --> 00:46:59,560 Speaker 1: A damn and then as a three time NC double 987 00:46:59,560 --> 00:47:01,680 Speaker 1: a d to All American at the University of North 988 00:47:01,680 --> 00:47:04,239 Speaker 1: Carolina at Pembrooke. You know, Dominic Cruz told me when 989 00:47:04,239 --> 00:47:06,359 Speaker 1: I started calling fis the most valuable thing I could 990 00:47:06,360 --> 00:47:09,320 Speaker 1: do for my commentary would be to watch college wrestling. 991 00:47:09,400 --> 00:47:13,040 Speaker 1: So anytime we talked to a collegiate wrestler, I have 992 00:47:13,080 --> 00:47:15,319 Speaker 1: to ask about your college wrestling career and what was 993 00:47:15,360 --> 00:47:18,440 Speaker 1: that either signature win or signature moment that you reflect 994 00:47:18,520 --> 00:47:19,319 Speaker 1: fondly upon. 995 00:47:21,680 --> 00:47:24,839 Speaker 6: Oh yeah, college wrestling, you know intense I love every 996 00:47:25,400 --> 00:47:27,600 Speaker 6: you know, portion of I think is shaped helped me 997 00:47:27,640 --> 00:47:29,720 Speaker 6: as who I am as a human being in life. 998 00:47:29,800 --> 00:47:33,960 Speaker 5: You know, that was the main reason why I went 999 00:47:34,000 --> 00:47:34,560 Speaker 5: to college. 1000 00:47:35,120 --> 00:47:37,200 Speaker 6: And my parents didn't go to college, so they didn't 1001 00:47:37,200 --> 00:47:38,520 Speaker 6: know a lot about how to get to college and 1002 00:47:38,560 --> 00:47:41,239 Speaker 6: stuff like that. So like my high school wrestling coach 1003 00:47:41,320 --> 00:47:43,840 Speaker 6: kind of helped me with that process, so definitely was 1004 00:47:43,880 --> 00:47:46,319 Speaker 6: a big shaping of who I am, you know, and 1005 00:47:46,440 --> 00:47:50,040 Speaker 6: you know wrestling in college, I was a three time 1006 00:47:50,080 --> 00:47:54,920 Speaker 6: All American, And probably my most memorable moment is the 1007 00:47:55,000 --> 00:47:58,320 Speaker 6: time I did not All American like me and the 1008 00:47:58,400 --> 00:48:02,120 Speaker 6: guy was. It was like and like triple overtime. It 1009 00:48:02,160 --> 00:48:04,200 Speaker 6: was the first year they made the like new rules, 1010 00:48:04,560 --> 00:48:06,640 Speaker 6: and I go, I stand up and I turn it 1011 00:48:06,640 --> 00:48:08,960 Speaker 6: to the guy and I unbreak his grip and the 1012 00:48:09,040 --> 00:48:12,080 Speaker 6: ref put me back down. So it was like, uh, 1013 00:48:12,760 --> 00:48:15,000 Speaker 6: the guy got an extra point for like ride out whatever, 1014 00:48:15,040 --> 00:48:16,680 Speaker 6: and I was a yeahda in All American, but I 1015 00:48:16,760 --> 00:48:19,680 Speaker 6: was like up and out, so yeah. 1016 00:48:19,080 --> 00:48:19,480 Speaker 3: All right. 1017 00:48:19,760 --> 00:48:24,040 Speaker 1: So Dion Sanders, coach Prime, ranks his children now he 1018 00:48:24,080 --> 00:48:27,000 Speaker 1: does this publicly. I rank my children as well. I 1019 00:48:27,040 --> 00:48:30,680 Speaker 1: have three children. My daughters don't like this ranking system. 1020 00:48:30,719 --> 00:48:32,920 Speaker 1: My wife doesn't like it. I'm not always public about it. 1021 00:48:33,000 --> 00:48:35,080 Speaker 1: I tried to pivot off of it and say I'll 1022 00:48:35,160 --> 00:48:37,840 Speaker 1: just do like my toughest kid, like who is my 1023 00:48:37,920 --> 00:48:41,120 Speaker 1: toughest kid at present, because maybe that's a little bit 1024 00:48:41,120 --> 00:48:43,880 Speaker 1: more quantifiable than actually ranking your kids, like you're my 1025 00:48:44,080 --> 00:48:46,359 Speaker 1: number one. But it's crazy to watch Dion go through 1026 00:48:46,400 --> 00:48:49,080 Speaker 1: this process. So, as a father of several kids yourself, 1027 00:48:49,440 --> 00:48:50,879 Speaker 1: have you ever ranked your children there? 1028 00:48:52,040 --> 00:48:52,800 Speaker 5: I don't. 1029 00:48:52,920 --> 00:48:54,880 Speaker 6: I don't all of all kids all the same, but 1030 00:48:54,920 --> 00:48:57,120 Speaker 6: I would say I would defer to what you did, 1031 00:48:57,400 --> 00:48:59,759 Speaker 6: you know, I would say the most I ranked my 1032 00:48:59,840 --> 00:49:02,440 Speaker 6: kids about who has the most attitude? All right, I 1033 00:49:02,480 --> 00:49:05,560 Speaker 6: would say my oldest has the most attitudes. He's sixteen. 1034 00:49:07,040 --> 00:49:12,120 Speaker 6: Then the second is my my youngest, I mean, not my. 1035 00:49:12,080 --> 00:49:14,360 Speaker 5: Youngest, on my youngest daughter. She's fifteen. 1036 00:49:14,520 --> 00:49:16,880 Speaker 6: So I got a sixteen, fifteen and sixteen and got 1037 00:49:16,920 --> 00:49:18,920 Speaker 6: the same birthday, so it's super crazy already. 1038 00:49:19,040 --> 00:49:19,600 Speaker 4: Oh wow. 1039 00:49:20,120 --> 00:49:23,359 Speaker 5: And then the easiest is my five year old. 1040 00:49:23,360 --> 00:49:28,520 Speaker 6: And you know, I guess second or third most attitude 1041 00:49:28,600 --> 00:49:29,560 Speaker 6: is my eight year old. 1042 00:49:29,840 --> 00:49:31,360 Speaker 3: See how ready to go he is, Kenny. 1043 00:49:31,360 --> 00:49:32,480 Speaker 1: It's a great system ranking. 1044 00:49:32,680 --> 00:49:34,840 Speaker 4: I would think that as they get older, they realized 1045 00:49:34,880 --> 00:49:36,880 Speaker 4: that their dad is Derek Brunson, and they'd be like, 1046 00:49:36,920 --> 00:49:39,640 Speaker 4: they actually get quieter, you know what I mean, because 1047 00:49:39,640 --> 00:49:41,840 Speaker 4: then they realize percussions of what could have. 1048 00:49:42,440 --> 00:49:46,600 Speaker 6: But now you have daughters. Now when you have daughters, man, yeah, 1049 00:49:46,680 --> 00:49:47,920 Speaker 6: now we have daughters sons? 1050 00:49:48,000 --> 00:49:52,120 Speaker 1: Yes, yeah, yeah, all right, a few more minutes here 1051 00:49:52,120 --> 00:49:56,319 Speaker 1: with Derek Brunson. So, January fourth, twenty twenty four, you 1052 00:49:56,480 --> 00:50:00,600 Speaker 1: turn forty. Tremendous how much you've accomplished before birthday number forty. 1053 00:50:00,600 --> 00:50:04,320 Speaker 1: So congratulations on all of that, and i'd imagine because 1054 00:50:04,320 --> 00:50:06,920 Speaker 1: of your success in life, it'll be a good birthday. 1055 00:50:06,920 --> 00:50:08,360 Speaker 1: But I just wanted to tell you it was my 1056 00:50:08,480 --> 00:50:10,440 Speaker 1: worst birthday by far. Derek turning four. 1057 00:50:11,200 --> 00:50:11,719 Speaker 5: Over the hill. 1058 00:50:12,320 --> 00:50:12,839 Speaker 4: I don't know. 1059 00:50:12,880 --> 00:50:15,120 Speaker 1: I mean, I'm forty five right now, and forty five 1060 00:50:15,239 --> 00:50:17,680 Speaker 1: wasn't particularly fun either, but I guess yeah, I just 1061 00:50:17,719 --> 00:50:23,640 Speaker 1: felt like forty, Like fuck man, you know, it's. 1062 00:50:22,440 --> 00:50:28,520 Speaker 5: Crazy because Bob Knight just passed right, and I'm like, yo, 1063 00:50:28,760 --> 00:50:31,239 Speaker 5: Like they were showing some clips on ESPN. They were 1064 00:50:31,239 --> 00:50:32,360 Speaker 5: showing like his dcline. 1065 00:50:32,400 --> 00:50:34,359 Speaker 6: I was like, yo, this is about like the last 1066 00:50:34,400 --> 00:50:36,920 Speaker 6: memory of him was him throwing chairs, pushing players, like 1067 00:50:37,239 --> 00:50:40,959 Speaker 6: more like fired up, like I'm your father type figure coach. 1068 00:50:41,000 --> 00:50:41,160 Speaker 5: You know. 1069 00:50:41,160 --> 00:50:42,799 Speaker 6: I don't think he was like trying to be like 1070 00:50:42,880 --> 00:50:46,040 Speaker 6: super crazy malicious, but that's just that was his personality. Yeah, 1071 00:50:46,080 --> 00:50:48,520 Speaker 6: And then they showed clips for like the last two 1072 00:50:48,600 --> 00:50:50,399 Speaker 6: years where he was like kind of like Muhammad Ali 1073 00:50:50,520 --> 00:50:52,120 Speaker 6: when he was like hoos in, he was like kind 1074 00:50:52,120 --> 00:50:55,040 Speaker 6: of shaking and like, uh, kind of there but not there. 1075 00:50:55,080 --> 00:50:56,440 Speaker 6: And I was like, whoa, this is wild because I 1076 00:50:56,520 --> 00:50:59,000 Speaker 6: never seen this like version of Bob Knight. And then 1077 00:50:59,680 --> 00:51:02,080 Speaker 6: I was like so yeah. I mean the older you get, 1078 00:51:02,120 --> 00:51:03,759 Speaker 6: you're like, damn, like what's going on here? 1079 00:51:03,840 --> 00:51:04,720 Speaker 5: What are we doing here? 1080 00:51:05,239 --> 00:51:08,160 Speaker 1: Well, but you're sharpest attack and you're reinventing yourself as 1081 00:51:08,160 --> 00:51:10,080 Speaker 1: a professional athlete. So I will get you out of 1082 00:51:10,120 --> 00:51:13,560 Speaker 1: here on this right. Maybe at this stage of my career, 1083 00:51:13,600 --> 00:51:15,600 Speaker 1: like I'm sick of traveling the world, would rather be 1084 00:51:15,600 --> 00:51:17,319 Speaker 1: a little bit around my kids. I've talked to Eric 1085 00:51:17,360 --> 00:51:19,440 Speaker 1: Anders right about when his kids get to high school, 1086 00:51:19,520 --> 00:51:21,239 Speaker 1: kind of shutting it down at that point in time. 1087 00:51:21,239 --> 00:51:24,200 Speaker 1: I'd imagine you do think about life after fighting, but 1088 00:51:24,239 --> 00:51:28,000 Speaker 1: oftentimes for fighters, the biggest paydays come, you know, when 1089 00:51:28,000 --> 00:51:30,520 Speaker 1: you do get a little bit older. So you know, 1090 00:51:30,680 --> 00:51:32,839 Speaker 1: do you and your family think about or talk about 1091 00:51:32,880 --> 00:51:33,680 Speaker 1: life after fighting? 1092 00:51:34,320 --> 00:51:34,560 Speaker 5: Yeah? 1093 00:51:34,600 --> 00:51:36,880 Speaker 6: For sure, you know, I try to keep that balance 1094 00:51:37,840 --> 00:51:38,600 Speaker 6: most important. 1095 00:51:39,120 --> 00:51:44,640 Speaker 5: Like really I never really cared about theme or like athletics. 1096 00:51:44,840 --> 00:51:47,000 Speaker 6: Always been like a family guy, you know, So like 1097 00:51:48,200 --> 00:51:51,120 Speaker 6: my kids, they they will all tell you, they probably 1098 00:51:51,120 --> 00:51:53,040 Speaker 6: say I'm the best dad, like period, you know that 1099 00:51:53,040 --> 00:51:55,480 Speaker 6: they can have, you know, because I'm always there, always present. 1100 00:51:55,800 --> 00:51:59,160 Speaker 6: You know, I'll go and I'll fly fight and then 1101 00:51:59,200 --> 00:52:01,520 Speaker 6: I'm back home. Suddeny, I'm going to the game. You know, 1102 00:52:01,600 --> 00:52:03,400 Speaker 6: I'm coaching my science T ball team, you know, So 1103 00:52:03,480 --> 00:52:05,759 Speaker 6: like I just try to keep the most important things 1104 00:52:05,920 --> 00:52:10,680 Speaker 6: in intact your life, you know. So you know, you 1105 00:52:10,719 --> 00:52:12,840 Speaker 6: always got to stay busy, you always got to stay grinding, 1106 00:52:12,960 --> 00:52:14,840 Speaker 6: and I just kind of, you know, keep the important 1107 00:52:14,840 --> 00:52:15,439 Speaker 6: things with that. 1108 00:52:15,800 --> 00:52:17,759 Speaker 1: Well, You've done a great job at balancing it all. 1109 00:52:17,800 --> 00:52:19,440 Speaker 1: And we can't wait to watch live on pay per 1110 00:52:19,560 --> 00:52:22,240 Speaker 1: view in the PFL against Ray Cooper the IID November 1111 00:52:22,320 --> 00:52:24,200 Speaker 1: the twenty fourth. Hey, let's talk about in sports picks 1118 00:52:36,719 --> 00:52:37,880 Speaker 5: some times. 1119 00:52:38,040 --> 00:52:40,120 Speaker 1: Man, I would love to do it. There he is 1120 00:52:40,760 --> 00:52:45,560 Speaker 1: Derek with us on Iannic and Floring Podcast. My last 1121 00:52:45,640 --> 00:52:49,720 Speaker 1: question was going to be about the maintenance to be blonde. Brunson, 1122 00:52:49,840 --> 00:52:51,560 Speaker 1: you know, because when you do it right, I think 1123 00:52:51,600 --> 00:52:53,759 Speaker 1: sometimes you got to spend some time in the chair. 1124 00:52:53,800 --> 00:52:56,120 Speaker 1: But that's a really good man, and you know, it 1125 00:52:56,160 --> 00:52:59,719 Speaker 1: is interesting right to hear him say, you know, as 1126 00:53:00,239 --> 00:53:02,879 Speaker 1: he really has always been that UFC fighter dad who's 1127 00:53:02,920 --> 00:53:07,960 Speaker 1: always there and always present, sometimes sacrificing maybe the advancement 1128 00:53:08,000 --> 00:53:10,000 Speaker 1: of his own career, not aligning with a big gym 1129 00:53:10,080 --> 00:53:13,600 Speaker 1: until very later in the career, right to stay at home. 1130 00:53:13,840 --> 00:53:16,520 Speaker 1: And I think I can't help but think about my 1131 00:53:16,560 --> 00:53:18,800 Speaker 1: situation because I'm really not always there. Like I'm not 1132 00:53:18,840 --> 00:53:20,759 Speaker 1: sure Derek Brunson has ever been away one hundred, one 1133 00:53:20,800 --> 00:53:23,040 Speaker 1: hundred and twenty nights a year, you know. But he's 1134 00:53:23,080 --> 00:53:25,520 Speaker 1: really done a lot of things well. And he'll be 1135 00:53:25,520 --> 00:53:27,080 Speaker 1: in the bill to call in that fight against Ray 1136 00:53:27,120 --> 00:53:28,600 Speaker 1: Cooper the third, November twenty fourth. 1137 00:53:28,920 --> 00:53:31,319 Speaker 4: I'm looking forward to it, man, I'm excited for this 1138 00:53:31,360 --> 00:53:34,080 Speaker 4: new chapter in his career. He's a guy that is 1139 00:53:34,280 --> 00:53:37,080 Speaker 4: always dangerous. And 1168 00:55:07,080 --> 00:55:09,680 Speaker 1: sometimes I asked Ray Longo a question and he just 1169 00:55:09,760 --> 00:55:11,799 Speaker 1: stonewalls me, Ken Flow and sits there. He's like, what 1170 00:55:11,800 --> 00:55:14,120 Speaker 1: are you asking me? You know, so we got a 1171 00:55:14,120 --> 00:55:15,719 Speaker 1: cricket button now in case? There is a spot at the end 1197 00:56:34,920 --> 00:56:39,080 Speaker 3: where you're looking at Forrest. I think, uh, well, dom Cruise, 1198 00:56:39,120 --> 00:56:40,839 Speaker 3: I don't know whey he's looking we got I think 1199 00:56:40,880 --> 00:56:42,560 Speaker 3: you might have to change that cove. He's not looking 1200 00:56:42,600 --> 00:56:44,839 Speaker 3: at the guy. I mean you you you were spot on. 1201 00:56:45,120 --> 00:56:47,680 Speaker 1: Well, thank you. I don't know if I'm allowed to 1202 00:56:47,719 --> 00:56:50,000 Speaker 1: say this, but we actually have another Toyot tire shoot 1203 00:56:50,040 --> 00:56:50,720 Speaker 1: later this month. 1204 00:56:50,800 --> 00:56:51,280 Speaker 3: Wow. 1205 00:56:51,880 --> 00:56:55,560 Speaker 1: Wow, you want to know something for today? So what 1206 00:56:55,680 --> 00:56:57,680 Speaker 1: we have for today? I guess I'd like to start 1207 00:56:57,680 --> 00:57:00,400 Speaker 1: with Brendan Allen and then we can uh transition to 1208 00:57:00,440 --> 00:57:04,759 Speaker 1: a few different items. But gosh, man, this this looks 1209 00:57:04,800 --> 00:57:06,239 Speaker 1: to me like one of the best middleweights in the 1210 00:57:06,280 --> 00:57:08,720 Speaker 1: world right now, just waiting now for his shot against 1211 00:57:08,760 --> 00:57:11,680 Speaker 1: the top five guy. One of all these other middleweight 1212 00:57:11,719 --> 00:57:15,080 Speaker 1: contenders with respect who have had their myriad opportunities either 1213 00:57:15,160 --> 00:57:18,560 Speaker 1: in multiple main events or championship settings. So what were 1214 00:57:18,600 --> 00:57:21,200 Speaker 1: your thoughts on on Brendan Allen passing this latest test 1215 00:57:21,240 --> 00:57:23,040 Speaker 1: against Paul Bardew Craig. 1216 00:57:23,960 --> 00:57:26,760 Speaker 3: Beautiful test for Brendan Allen. Seems like his head's in 1217 00:57:26,800 --> 00:57:31,320 Speaker 3: the right spot. The kid deserves deserves the top five guy. 1218 00:57:31,800 --> 00:57:33,960 Speaker 3: Not only did he beat Pull Craig, he beat him 1219 00:57:34,000 --> 00:57:36,960 Speaker 3: at his own game, the only way that Craig had 1220 00:57:37,080 --> 00:57:39,680 Speaker 3: to beat him, you know, he got submitted. So I 1221 00:57:39,760 --> 00:57:42,360 Speaker 3: think it was a great, great fight. He seems very confident. 1222 00:57:43,720 --> 00:57:47,040 Speaker 3: I like the athorage you brought with him into the octagon. 1223 00:57:47,120 --> 00:57:49,880 Speaker 3: That was pretty cool. Yeah, it just seems like he's 1224 00:57:50,000 --> 00:57:52,760 Speaker 3: he's firing on old cylinders at the right time and 1225 00:57:53,400 --> 00:57:55,919 Speaker 3: still a young kid, and I wish him the best. 1226 00:57:56,000 --> 00:57:58,680 Speaker 3: He's really really I can't say I know him, but 1227 00:57:58,760 --> 00:58:01,120 Speaker 3: I think I cross paths with him a little bit. 1228 00:58:01,120 --> 00:58:03,160 Speaker 3: He seems like a super super nice kid. And I 1229 00:58:03,160 --> 00:58:05,840 Speaker 3: think that comes across on the microphone as well. So 1230 00:58:05,880 --> 00:58:07,400 Speaker 3: he's got it all. He's got a you know, he's 1231 00:58:07,440 --> 00:58:10,400 Speaker 3: got a good presence, nice presence on the microphone, and 1232 00:58:10,520 --> 00:58:13,320 Speaker 3: he and he's he's there to fight, and he's looked 1233 00:58:13,400 --> 00:58:15,520 Speaker 3: very technical to me on the ground. That was that 1234 00:58:15,560 --> 00:58:18,520 Speaker 3: was pretty cool. With the caff slice of stuff. Right, Yeah, 1235 00:58:18,560 --> 00:58:21,680 Speaker 3: that was that was good stuff, man, So not that 1236 00:58:21,680 --> 00:58:24,560 Speaker 3: that's my thing, but it was fun watching and I 1237 00:58:25,040 --> 00:58:27,640 Speaker 3: think it was a great step up. He passed the test. 1238 00:58:27,680 --> 00:58:29,640 Speaker 3: You got to you got to keep that kid moving. 1239 00:58:29,800 --> 00:58:31,600 Speaker 3: I think he's in the right spot at the right time. 1240 00:58:33,040 --> 00:58:35,320 Speaker 1: Grappling match Kenny Florid and Brendan Allen in the not 1241 00:58:35,320 --> 00:58:37,840 Speaker 1: too distant future. Hey, in terms of him having the 1242 00:58:37,960 --> 00:58:40,760 Speaker 1: kid around though, right, I was not the high school 1243 00:58:40,800 --> 00:58:44,040 Speaker 1: basketball player who you would describe as having ice water 1244 00:58:44,200 --> 00:58:46,360 Speaker 1: in his veins, right. I would more be the high 1245 00:58:46,360 --> 00:58:49,400 Speaker 1: school basketball player who was throwing up in the locker 1246 00:58:49,480 --> 00:58:51,160 Speaker 1: room because it was a night game and we had 1247 00:58:51,200 --> 00:58:55,400 Speaker 1: a music that I helped pick out. My head was 1248 00:58:55,400 --> 00:58:59,840 Speaker 1: in the wrong place, right, But like I was going 1249 00:58:59,880 --> 00:59:02,400 Speaker 1: to ask, Kenny, maybe the most nervous he's ever been 1250 00:59:02,440 --> 00:59:04,680 Speaker 1: for an athletic endeavor, whether it was a high profile 1251 00:59:04,720 --> 00:59:07,240 Speaker 1: Boston College soccer game or when he fought BJ Penn 1252 00:59:07,320 --> 00:59:09,760 Speaker 1: or something like that. But like this, Brendan Allen, Ray, 1253 00:59:10,520 --> 00:59:13,720 Speaker 1: he's so just that ice water in the veins type 1254 00:59:13,720 --> 00:59:15,960 Speaker 1: of athlete, at least in terms of my eye test, 1255 00:59:16,120 --> 00:59:18,640 Speaker 1: that when I see him with the kid, it doesn't 1256 00:59:18,640 --> 00:59:21,000 Speaker 1: even matter, you know, like he's looking for his daughter 1257 00:59:21,080 --> 00:59:25,520 Speaker 1: right before the fight. Well, Alex Padata is giving you 1258 00:59:25,600 --> 00:59:29,360 Speaker 1: a look that will be fatal, right, Like Brendan brought 1259 00:59:29,400 --> 00:59:31,760 Speaker 1: the apex for his daughter and then is able to 1260 00:59:31,800 --> 00:59:34,560 Speaker 1: perform like that. I just think, I don't know if 1261 00:59:34,600 --> 00:59:36,680 Speaker 1: he's able to just compartmentalize it the right way, but 1262 00:59:36,760 --> 00:59:40,000 Speaker 1: he's just he's just ready to perform when it matters 1263 00:59:40,120 --> 00:59:41,440 Speaker 1: all the time, seemingly. 1264 00:59:42,120 --> 00:59:43,800 Speaker 3: I get. The only thing I can say is good 1265 00:59:43,800 --> 00:59:49,800 Speaker 3: to be young. That's what I uh. I don't think. 1266 00:59:49,800 --> 00:59:51,320 Speaker 3: I don't know if this is the same thing, but 1267 00:59:51,360 --> 00:59:54,360 Speaker 3: I look, I had my kids when I was old. 1268 00:59:54,520 --> 00:59:56,880 Speaker 3: I was a paranoid not they couldn't even I didn't 1269 00:59:56,880 --> 00:59:59,000 Speaker 3: even want him going out on the front gris. You know, 1270 00:59:59,040 --> 01:00:01,560 Speaker 3: it was a little wacky. The older you get, I think, 1271 01:00:01,600 --> 01:00:04,160 Speaker 3: the more you're like that. But when I watch these 1272 01:00:04,200 --> 01:00:07,080 Speaker 3: young kids, like wid mean, when his kids kids falling 1273 01:00:07,160 --> 01:00:10,280 Speaker 3: off the treadmill on his head, nobody's even batan eye. 1274 01:00:10,280 --> 01:00:13,760 Speaker 3: It's like normal. It's it's a different, different vibe when 1275 01:00:13,760 --> 01:00:16,080 Speaker 3: you're that young. I think that's that's my only thing 1276 01:00:16,120 --> 01:00:18,000 Speaker 3: I have in my head right now. But that's it. 1277 01:00:18,040 --> 01:00:20,320 Speaker 3: When you get older, you know, it's like, you know, 1278 01:00:20,520 --> 01:00:22,120 Speaker 3: like your grandparents are going to tell you know, I 1279 01:00:22,160 --> 01:00:24,600 Speaker 3: don't do that, don't do that. But these young kids, 1280 01:00:24,600 --> 01:00:27,240 Speaker 3: when they they have kids that young, that just it's 1281 01:00:27,320 --> 01:00:29,640 Speaker 3: a different mindset. I think that's what I'm seeing. 1282 01:00:29,680 --> 01:00:32,480 Speaker 1: But yeah, no, that's fair. I thought we were just 1283 01:00:32,520 --> 01:00:35,760 Speaker 1: saying it was just sort of ignorance is bliss in 1284 01:00:35,840 --> 01:00:37,880 Speaker 1: terms of no editor But yeah, you're right. 1285 01:00:38,040 --> 01:00:40,640 Speaker 3: Yeah, no, no it's not. It's yeah, sorry, it's not 1286 01:00:40,680 --> 01:00:43,280 Speaker 3: ignorance is bliss. So when I watch it, I wish 1287 01:00:43,280 --> 01:00:45,080 Speaker 3: I was more like that, I'll be honest with you. 1288 01:00:45,440 --> 01:00:48,440 Speaker 3: That's why I say I think I like, again, we 1289 01:00:48,480 --> 01:00:50,840 Speaker 3: had kids when we were older, so it was a 1290 01:00:50,880 --> 01:00:54,080 Speaker 3: little different, and thirty five thirty six back then was 1291 01:00:54,120 --> 01:00:56,920 Speaker 3: like forty now I think forty two, so it's a 1292 01:00:57,000 --> 01:01:01,360 Speaker 3: different vibe. But I love watching me. It's that's the way. 1293 01:01:02,360 --> 01:01:04,680 Speaker 3: I think, that's the way kids should be raised, you know, 1294 01:01:04,920 --> 01:01:07,720 Speaker 3: I mean different generations. We like, my parents were young 1295 01:01:07,760 --> 01:01:09,680 Speaker 3: when they had you know, me and my brothers, so 1296 01:01:10,360 --> 01:01:11,120 Speaker 3: things were differently. 1297 01:01:11,960 --> 01:01:15,439 Speaker 1: Yeah, Kenny and I were basically dying when we chose 1298 01:01:15,520 --> 01:01:16,320 Speaker 1: to program. 1299 01:01:17,280 --> 01:01:18,360 Speaker 4: More than you. 1300 01:01:18,360 --> 01:01:20,760 Speaker 1: You know, how were you ray when you had your 1301 01:01:20,760 --> 01:01:22,680 Speaker 1: first kid. I think I was like thirty two, but 1302 01:01:22,760 --> 01:01:25,840 Speaker 1: my last one, my son, was born ten days before 1303 01:01:25,880 --> 01:01:26,840 Speaker 1: I turned forty. 1304 01:01:27,400 --> 01:01:29,840 Speaker 3: Wow, I'm going to say thirty six and thirty seven. 1305 01:01:29,880 --> 01:01:32,880 Speaker 3: I had Irish twins, so you know, it's but but 1306 01:01:32,960 --> 01:01:36,680 Speaker 3: again it was back that's twenty eight years ago, you 1307 01:01:36,760 --> 01:01:38,960 Speaker 3: know what I mean. So things change even with that. 1308 01:01:39,320 --> 01:01:42,000 Speaker 3: Back then, though, I was considered almost like a trend 1309 01:01:42,080 --> 01:01:45,040 Speaker 3: set of getting married at thirty five. You know, now, 1310 01:01:45,080 --> 01:01:48,000 Speaker 3: myce Now my advice is forty five minimal. 1311 01:01:50,040 --> 01:01:52,880 Speaker 4: That's what a real man matures finally around forty five. 1312 01:01:52,920 --> 01:01:56,800 Speaker 3: That's why, you know, Kenny, that's even it doesn't even 1313 01:01:56,800 --> 01:01:58,800 Speaker 3: happen then. But it's a good I agree with, you know. 1314 01:01:58,880 --> 01:02:01,240 Speaker 3: But it's it's it's a hope. It's a hope that 1315 01:02:01,320 --> 01:02:04,000 Speaker 3: you do. I mean, I'm still waiting for that aha 1316 01:02:04,120 --> 01:02:07,919 Speaker 3: moment where I go, oh wow, I'm actually an adult. Yeah, 1317 01:02:07,920 --> 01:02:11,080 Speaker 3: this is crazy, this is nuts. Oh, John, do we 1318 01:02:11,160 --> 01:02:11,600 Speaker 3: lose it? 1319 01:02:11,880 --> 01:02:15,320 Speaker 1: No, I'm just thinking in my head, I'm forty five, 1320 01:02:15,400 --> 01:02:18,320 Speaker 1: and I would not describe myself as particularly mature. 1321 01:02:18,720 --> 01:02:21,360 Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I know. It's it's a. 1322 01:02:20,920 --> 01:02:24,560 Speaker 1: Parent or in certain parental situations, maturity would not be 1323 01:02:24,600 --> 01:02:26,640 Speaker 1: what I would Yeah, yeah. 1324 01:02:26,360 --> 01:02:27,920 Speaker 3: But we try. We do try. 1325 01:02:27,800 --> 01:02:31,560 Speaker 1: Though, yeah, yeah, yeah, sometimes, but no, I guess there's 1326 01:02:31,600 --> 01:02:34,080 Speaker 1: certain things and I hope my mother's not listening to 1327 01:02:34,080 --> 01:02:36,960 Speaker 1: this particular episode. But as I get older, I can't 1328 01:02:37,000 --> 01:02:40,120 Speaker 1: fake emoting or caring about certain things. I can't watch 1329 01:02:40,160 --> 01:02:43,360 Speaker 1: a movie with children involved without crying my eye out. 1330 01:02:43,720 --> 01:02:50,520 Speaker 1: But in terms of certain familial navigations, right, don't always care, right, 1331 01:02:50,560 --> 01:02:52,800 Speaker 1: and not always the best faking that I give a 1332 01:02:52,880 --> 01:02:54,200 Speaker 1: fuck either, all right, but. 1333 01:02:54,920 --> 01:02:57,280 Speaker 3: The fact that you're crying during the fact that you're 1334 01:02:57,320 --> 01:03:01,160 Speaker 3: crying during that those movies me there's a human element 1335 01:03:01,200 --> 01:03:03,840 Speaker 3: to you that. Yeah, that is very acceptable. Yeah, I 1336 01:03:03,840 --> 01:03:06,680 Speaker 3: mean that covers everything. You don't have to do anything 1337 01:03:06,720 --> 01:03:07,080 Speaker 3: after that. 1338 01:03:07,520 --> 01:03:10,480 Speaker 1: The UFC fan base that thinks I'm either do you 1339 01:03:10,600 --> 01:03:12,640 Speaker 1: a chill? I am actually a human being. 1340 01:03:12,880 --> 01:03:14,520 Speaker 3: Now do you cry in front of it? Do you 1341 01:03:14,560 --> 01:03:16,800 Speaker 3: cry in front of everybody? You try to sneak like, 1342 01:03:16,880 --> 01:03:19,120 Speaker 3: you know, you're wiping your eyes while the thing's going on, 1343 01:03:19,440 --> 01:03:21,520 Speaker 3: so nobody knows, because that's what I do. I make 1344 01:03:21,600 --> 01:03:25,360 Speaker 3: like I'm blowing my nose. Oh, my allergies, my allergies. 1345 01:03:25,400 --> 01:03:30,040 Speaker 3: All of a sudden eye, yeah, yeah, shoe, I got 1346 01:03:30,080 --> 01:03:31,120 Speaker 3: something in my eye. 1347 01:03:31,400 --> 01:03:33,760 Speaker 1: I try to hide it, Okay, I just want to 1348 01:03:33,760 --> 01:03:38,160 Speaker 1: make sure. So just one feel good thing before I 1349 01:03:38,200 --> 01:03:40,600 Speaker 1: get to one of our listeners who had a criticism 1350 01:03:40,640 --> 01:03:44,160 Speaker 1: of our last episode. So, Jason Jackson and PATCHI Mix. 1351 01:03:44,240 --> 01:03:47,200 Speaker 1: I'm not sure if you saw this bellatore ship, but yeah, 1352 01:03:47,240 --> 01:03:49,840 Speaker 1: I just think this sort of both of the winds 1353 01:03:49,920 --> 01:03:52,720 Speaker 1: speak to what makes MM a great right, just everything 1354 01:03:52,720 --> 01:03:54,480 Speaker 1: that PATCHI Mix has done, just in terms of the 1355 01:03:54,520 --> 01:03:56,600 Speaker 1: hard work to prove to the world that he's one 1356 01:03:56,640 --> 01:03:58,520 Speaker 1: of the best one hundred and thirty five pounders even 1357 01:03:58,560 --> 01:04:01,160 Speaker 1: though he hasn't had the stage nor the spotlight. And 1358 01:04:01,200 --> 01:04:03,240 Speaker 1: then Jason Jackson at thirty three years of age, I 1359 01:04:03,280 --> 01:04:05,480 Speaker 1: would hesitate to call him a journeyman, but he was 1360 01:04:05,520 --> 01:04:08,160 Speaker 1: always just you know, the teammate who maybe came up 1361 01:04:08,160 --> 01:04:10,480 Speaker 1: short in the big moment. And I don't know, man, 1362 01:04:10,520 --> 01:04:13,120 Speaker 1: it just makes me feel really good to see, you know, 1363 01:04:13,200 --> 01:04:15,640 Speaker 1: Jason Jackson in particular, realize the world title. That's all 1364 01:04:15,640 --> 01:04:16,439 Speaker 1: I got. 1365 01:04:16,520 --> 01:04:20,520 Speaker 3: Now, No listen, man, Pati Mix on another level at 1366 01:04:20,520 --> 01:04:24,480 Speaker 3: this point. He needs, he he deserves. I'm wall I'm 1367 01:04:24,520 --> 01:04:27,280 Speaker 3: not saying better competition that way, but he deserves to 1368 01:04:27,360 --> 01:04:31,440 Speaker 3: really get in the mix. Here's the problem, and it's 1369 01:04:31,480 --> 01:04:34,440 Speaker 3: a compliment. And Pati Mix is awesome. I know he's valued. 1370 01:04:34,520 --> 01:04:37,240 Speaker 3: I think he's pretty close with al Joe Morab. He 1371 01:04:37,320 --> 01:04:41,200 Speaker 3: seems like a nice guy, but he's the here's the problem, 1372 01:04:41,240 --> 01:04:42,600 Speaker 3: and is why I'd like to see the kid get 1373 01:04:42,640 --> 01:04:46,560 Speaker 3: some attention. In Boston. I think Matt runs into uh, 1374 01:04:46,600 --> 01:04:50,919 Speaker 3: who's his girlfriend, Tatiana Suarez? Yes, and he's there talk 1375 01:04:50,960 --> 01:04:53,600 Speaker 3: and then you know, Patchie's obviously her boyfriend. He goes, 1376 01:04:53,920 --> 01:04:56,640 Speaker 3: he goes. They felt like an asshole, but he said 1377 01:04:56,640 --> 01:05:01,920 Speaker 3: to him, do you fight the guys? That that's the issue, Like, 1378 01:05:01,960 --> 01:05:03,200 Speaker 3: you know what I mean, you got to get those 1379 01:05:03,240 --> 01:05:06,920 Speaker 3: eyeballs on you. So I think this kid deserves to 1380 01:05:06,960 --> 01:05:09,240 Speaker 3: be in the UFC just for the fact that he 1381 01:05:09,400 --> 01:05:14,200 Speaker 3: deserves like more recognition than then he's getting night And 1382 01:05:14,280 --> 01:05:16,680 Speaker 3: based on that, I'm just based on that, right, you 1383 01:05:16,720 --> 01:05:18,800 Speaker 3: don't even know who the guy is. The guy's one 1384 01:05:18,800 --> 01:05:20,880 Speaker 3: of the best in the world, you know what I mean, 1385 01:05:21,000 --> 01:05:23,880 Speaker 3: if not the best. So I'd love to see that 1386 01:05:23,960 --> 01:05:26,640 Speaker 3: kid get other competition because I think he deserves it, 1387 01:05:26,720 --> 01:05:29,520 Speaker 3: and he is coming into his own and he looks 1388 01:05:29,560 --> 01:05:31,560 Speaker 3: like a problem for anybody. 1389 01:05:31,840 --> 01:05:35,680 Speaker 1: Yeah, part of my prospect. Actually before my fighter meeting 1390 01:05:35,680 --> 01:05:38,000 Speaker 1: with Tatiana Suarez was to do a little bit of 1391 01:05:38,040 --> 01:05:40,280 Speaker 1: a deeper dive into patchy mix, you know, so that 1392 01:05:40,320 --> 01:05:42,400 Speaker 1: when he walks in the room, I knew what I 1393 01:05:42,440 --> 01:05:43,080 Speaker 1: was dealing with. 1394 01:05:43,000 --> 01:05:44,680 Speaker 3: And yeah, yeah, yeah yeah, make. 1395 01:05:44,560 --> 01:05:45,840 Speaker 1: That guy feel like a million bucks. 1396 01:05:45,840 --> 01:05:47,840 Speaker 3: All right, very nice, very nice. 1397 01:05:48,640 --> 01:05:52,040 Speaker 1: A YouTube comment from our UFC two ninety five recap 1398 01:05:52,080 --> 01:05:55,280 Speaker 1: from our great listener, Dixie Chan. This woman has listened 1399 01:05:55,280 --> 01:05:58,600 Speaker 1: to probably four hundred and twenty five of the four 1400 01:05:58,680 --> 01:06:02,120 Speaker 1: hundred and fifty episodes we have done. Longtime supporter of 1401 01:06:02,160 --> 01:06:04,200 Speaker 1: mine and the show. But she's also not afraid to 1402 01:06:04,200 --> 01:06:06,560 Speaker 1: be critical of me on a live broadcast or me 1403 01:06:06,640 --> 01:06:09,720 Speaker 1: on the Anak and Floran podcast. So look alive out there, 1404 01:06:09,760 --> 01:06:11,120 Speaker 1: ken fell I want you to hear this as well. 1405 01:06:11,120 --> 01:06:12,800 Speaker 1: All right, Raymond, here we go. So this is from 1406 01:06:12,840 --> 01:06:15,959 Speaker 1: Dixie Chan five days ago. Wasn't the best Ray long 1407 01:06:15,960 --> 01:06:18,200 Speaker 1: Go minute, to be honest, And this is no criticism 1408 01:06:18,280 --> 01:06:19,680 Speaker 1: of you, Ray by the way, it's all coming at 1409 01:06:19,680 --> 01:06:23,960 Speaker 1: the time. It's all good, you know, just like my family, right, 1410 01:06:23,960 --> 01:06:27,880 Speaker 1: I take all the fucking bullets, all right. Wasn't the 1411 01:06:27,920 --> 01:06:29,640 Speaker 1: best Ray long Go minute to be honest? When there's 1412 01:06:29,680 --> 01:06:32,080 Speaker 1: a pay per view with big fights, a card which 1413 01:06:32,160 --> 01:06:33,720 Speaker 1: is arguably the best of the year, it may not 1414 01:06:33,760 --> 01:06:36,440 Speaker 1: be the good idea to schedule schedule some other interview 1415 01:06:36,440 --> 01:06:38,720 Speaker 1: in the same show. It felt like such a hasty 1416 01:06:38,800 --> 01:06:42,040 Speaker 1: minute and not giving Ray the opportunity to go in depth. 1417 01:06:42,080 --> 01:06:45,080 Speaker 1: And there was no coverage on the Mackenzie during Jessica 1418 01:06:45,080 --> 01:06:47,320 Speaker 1: and Rage fight, nor the Diego Lopez fight. We did 1419 01:06:47,320 --> 01:06:50,360 Speaker 1: cover Diego Lopez, but I love you Dixie Chant would 1420 01:06:50,360 --> 01:06:52,360 Speaker 1: have loved to have Ray give his take from a 1421 01:06:52,360 --> 01:06:55,840 Speaker 1: coach's perspective on Durn's fight progression and the change of coaches. 1422 01:06:55,840 --> 01:06:58,680 Speaker 1: There was a similar incident on the show a few 1423 01:06:58,680 --> 01:07:00,760 Speaker 1: months ago when you scheduled Brian on the same show 1424 01:07:00,800 --> 01:07:02,840 Speaker 1: as Ray Longo and as a result had to rush 1425 01:07:02,920 --> 01:07:05,400 Speaker 1: Longo the same way you do on this show. Please 1426 01:07:05,440 --> 01:07:07,880 Speaker 1: don't cram interviews on a big paper like that. I 1427 01:07:08,080 --> 01:07:10,680 Speaker 1: was looking forward to this show all day on a 1428 01:07:10,880 --> 01:07:13,440 Speaker 1: historic fight card, and it didn't deliver. 1429 01:07:14,840 --> 01:07:20,200 Speaker 3: Damn. How dare you you? Yeah, thank you, Dixie Chan. 1430 01:07:20,480 --> 01:07:21,880 Speaker 3: That will be it. There'll be a T shirt and 1431 01:07:21,920 --> 01:07:24,200 Speaker 3: the mail to you, thank you whichever one you want 1432 01:07:24,320 --> 01:07:28,200 Speaker 3: saw me. Thank you very much. But holy crow, hey, 1433 01:07:28,240 --> 01:07:30,600 Speaker 3: how are those mugs going? Did you see that promo 1434 01:07:30,720 --> 01:07:34,439 Speaker 3: that Laura Sanko cut? Come on, good, guys, very good. 1435 01:07:34,560 --> 01:07:38,680 Speaker 3: You didn't see that? Oh my god? Very sensual, very 1436 01:07:38,840 --> 01:07:41,320 Speaker 3: very I mean, if if you don't buy a mug 1437 01:07:41,360 --> 01:07:45,040 Speaker 3: after that, he can we can? We can? We can? 1438 01:07:45,080 --> 01:07:48,240 Speaker 3: We have Laura Sanko drink out of every mug before 1439 01:07:48,280 --> 01:07:50,240 Speaker 3: they go out to people. I think that might help 1440 01:07:50,280 --> 01:07:50,880 Speaker 3: sell them. I don't know. 1441 01:07:54,320 --> 01:07:54,840 Speaker 4: Put it down. 1442 01:07:56,680 --> 01:07:58,680 Speaker 1: But can I just tell you guys, right, sometimes when 1443 01:07:58,720 --> 01:08:01,680 Speaker 1: you when you launch a website or you have some 1444 01:08:01,760 --> 01:08:05,480 Speaker 1: professional or personal initiative, sometimes it's a lens into who 1445 01:08:05,520 --> 01:08:07,760 Speaker 1: are your true supporters or I guess who are your 1446 01:08:07,840 --> 01:08:08,840 Speaker 1: hardcore supporters? 1447 01:08:08,920 --> 01:08:09,040 Speaker 3: Right? 1448 01:08:09,120 --> 01:08:11,800 Speaker 1: Like our producer Lappie and Laura Sanko were two of 1449 01:08:11,840 --> 01:08:13,400 Speaker 1: the first people to go to john Ant dot com 1450 01:08:13,480 --> 01:08:14,360 Speaker 1: and buy merchandise. 1451 01:08:14,440 --> 01:08:14,560 Speaker 3: Right. 1452 01:08:14,640 --> 01:08:17,920 Speaker 1: So Laura on her own went and bought merchandise. 1453 01:08:18,000 --> 01:08:18,080 Speaker 3: Right. 1454 01:08:18,120 --> 01:08:21,080 Speaker 1: It's not like Raymon Peter Long Wow. Right, So we 1455 01:08:21,160 --> 01:08:23,040 Speaker 1: sent her some other stuff, We sent her something for 1456 01:08:23,120 --> 01:08:25,679 Speaker 1: her husband, right, But it's like she went and bought 1457 01:08:25,720 --> 01:08:29,840 Speaker 1: something for herself. And uh obviously that uh, that touched 1458 01:08:29,880 --> 01:08:32,559 Speaker 1: me in my heart. But yeah, so can we get 1459 01:08:32,560 --> 01:08:33,599 Speaker 1: to this comment from Dixie. 1460 01:08:33,600 --> 01:08:36,759 Speaker 3: Please, yeh, let me let me, I'll let me start. Please. 1461 01:08:37,680 --> 01:08:43,680 Speaker 3: Mackenzie durn fight. Wow, that was I'm gonna tell you, 1462 01:08:43,720 --> 01:08:45,760 Speaker 3: I don't know. First off, you know it's funny. I look, 1463 01:08:45,840 --> 01:08:48,040 Speaker 3: I must have seen it. I didn't hear it. But 1464 01:08:48,080 --> 01:08:51,520 Speaker 3: I think Petriot did he have a lock on Androge 1465 01:08:51,560 --> 01:08:57,120 Speaker 3: in that fight? Like that was his? Uh, somebody died. 1466 01:08:56,680 --> 01:09:01,440 Speaker 4: I think I got to Petrie pick Mackenzie. 1467 01:09:02,000 --> 01:09:05,640 Speaker 3: Oh. I thought Mackenzie. Oh, that's good. I thought Mackenzie 1468 01:09:05,680 --> 01:09:09,640 Speaker 3: Dern was a lock in that fight, you know what 1469 01:09:09,680 --> 01:09:11,920 Speaker 3: I mean. I thought she was a lot. I don't 1470 01:09:11,960 --> 01:09:13,960 Speaker 3: know what I was looking at. That was a regression. 1471 01:09:14,520 --> 01:09:17,439 Speaker 3: That's not good. I thought Perillo was doing a great 1472 01:09:17,520 --> 01:09:21,760 Speaker 3: job with her. She looked comfortable, you know, in the 1473 01:09:21,800 --> 01:09:27,040 Speaker 3: pocket at times, with her striking. I saw a I didn't. 1474 01:09:27,360 --> 01:09:29,679 Speaker 3: I was kind of blown away in the opposite direction 1475 01:09:29,760 --> 01:09:34,760 Speaker 3: of what I saw. But ord through the grapevinders. You know, 1476 01:09:34,800 --> 01:09:37,479 Speaker 3: when you get a new boyfriend, things could change something 1477 01:09:37,560 --> 01:09:41,960 Speaker 3: like that. But Parillo I saw when I went out, well, 1478 01:09:42,000 --> 01:09:44,960 Speaker 3: I saw Perillo. Oh no, that was any other thing. 1479 01:09:45,040 --> 01:09:47,200 Speaker 3: But whatever, But he wasn't in the corner. Is what 1480 01:09:47,200 --> 01:09:49,400 Speaker 3: I'm trying to say, and I saw the whole team 1481 01:09:49,479 --> 01:09:52,080 Speaker 3: back backstage when I was with I think Na's getting 1482 01:09:52,080 --> 01:09:54,960 Speaker 3: stitched up. But yeah, I don't know, man, that was 1483 01:09:55,040 --> 01:09:56,880 Speaker 3: not She's got to go. I think she's got to 1484 01:09:56,920 --> 01:09:59,280 Speaker 3: get back to basics. And I thought she was on 1485 01:09:59,320 --> 01:10:01,920 Speaker 3: a really good rejectory upwards. I thought that was a 1486 01:10:01,920 --> 01:10:04,800 Speaker 3: big slide backwards. I don't know if that's what your 1487 01:10:04,840 --> 01:10:07,640 Speaker 3: take is, but I didn't like what I saw at all. 1488 01:10:07,760 --> 01:10:11,880 Speaker 1: Kenny. Sometimes I'm hesitant to get too technical, especially in 1489 01:10:11,920 --> 01:10:15,000 Speaker 1: your presence, right, because you're too nice a guy to 1490 01:10:15,080 --> 01:10:20,040 Speaker 1: like put me in my place, right. But Mackenzie Dern, right, 1491 01:10:20,160 --> 01:10:25,000 Speaker 1: hasn't developed her offensive wrestling the way maybe some expected 1492 01:10:25,040 --> 01:10:28,040 Speaker 1: to get the fight to that special area that is 1493 01:10:28,080 --> 01:10:32,439 Speaker 1: her jiu jitsu, right. But Francisco Grosso, to my eyes, 1494 01:10:32,600 --> 01:10:35,559 Speaker 1: has turned Diego Lopez, a Brazilian jiu jitsu black belt 1495 01:10:35,600 --> 01:10:38,759 Speaker 1: and the Team Lobo Grappling coach into like a really 1496 01:10:38,880 --> 01:10:41,799 Speaker 1: layered striker who knows how to faint and switch dances 1497 01:10:41,840 --> 01:10:44,599 Speaker 1: and do all of these things. So I'm not saying 1498 01:10:44,600 --> 01:10:48,520 Speaker 1: that Mackenzie Dern can't become this elite striker, but sometimes 1499 01:10:48,520 --> 01:10:51,639 Speaker 1: I feel like the energy isn't always channeled in that 1500 01:10:51,680 --> 01:10:54,639 Speaker 1: way of either, you know, becoming a great offensive wrestler 1501 01:10:54,760 --> 01:10:57,320 Speaker 1: or really becoming a great striker. And I don't know 1502 01:10:57,360 --> 01:10:59,960 Speaker 1: what your thoughts were on on Mackenzie Dern in defeat 1503 01:11:00,240 --> 01:11:00,880 Speaker 1: two weeks ago. 1504 01:11:01,040 --> 01:11:03,080 Speaker 4: Yeah, I think there's a lot to unpack there, and 1505 01:11:03,120 --> 01:11:05,080 Speaker 4: I certainly don't have all the answers as to what 1506 01:11:05,200 --> 01:11:09,479 Speaker 4: the issue is, but I do think that she's leaving 1507 01:11:09,520 --> 01:11:13,479 Speaker 4: a lot on the table by not focusing on her wrestling. Like, 1508 01:11:13,520 --> 01:11:16,800 Speaker 4: if jiu jitsu is the most dangerous thing that you 1509 01:11:16,840 --> 01:11:19,080 Speaker 4: bring to a fight, then you've got to get that 1510 01:11:19,120 --> 01:11:21,320 Speaker 4: fight to the ground. And I think that's where there's 1511 01:11:21,360 --> 01:11:26,000 Speaker 4: always been a deficiency there. You know, Listen, some grapplers 1512 01:11:26,600 --> 01:11:29,880 Speaker 4: will never be great strikers. Okay, I think that's pretty 1513 01:11:29,920 --> 01:11:32,679 Speaker 4: fair to stretch to say. From my experience, certain guys 1514 01:11:32,960 --> 01:11:35,280 Speaker 4: they just don't get it. The footwork, they're too stiff 1515 01:11:35,360 --> 01:11:37,400 Speaker 4: or whatever it is. You can make them dangerous, doesn't 1516 01:11:37,439 --> 01:11:41,040 Speaker 4: mean they can't be knockout artists or be dangerous, but 1517 01:11:41,320 --> 01:11:45,080 Speaker 4: to be great strikers, some grapplers just won't ever get there. Now, 1518 01:11:45,120 --> 01:11:47,599 Speaker 4: how do you bring their grappling more to the forefront, 1519 01:11:47,640 --> 01:11:50,479 Speaker 4: Like Habib Normaga MetOp was not the best striker in 1520 01:11:50,520 --> 01:11:53,599 Speaker 4: the world, but man, he did not get hit and 1521 01:11:53,800 --> 01:11:55,400 Speaker 4: he would get a hold of you and you'd be 1522 01:11:55,479 --> 01:11:58,120 Speaker 4: on your back shortly thereafter, and then you'd never get 1523 01:11:58,160 --> 01:12:01,000 Speaker 4: it back up again. Mackenzie, it is so dangerous for 1524 01:12:01,040 --> 01:12:04,000 Speaker 4: their submission game. I don't understand why there hasn't been 1525 01:12:04,040 --> 01:12:07,559 Speaker 4: a focus on her just being the best takedown artist 1526 01:12:07,560 --> 01:12:09,080 Speaker 4: that she could be at this at this stage of 1527 01:12:09,080 --> 01:12:11,800 Speaker 4: the game, Like, let's focus all our energy on that. 1528 01:12:12,120 --> 01:12:14,240 Speaker 4: How do you get to a clinch safely and how 1529 01:12:14,240 --> 01:12:17,280 Speaker 4: do you put someone on their back as efficiently as possible? 1530 01:12:17,439 --> 01:12:20,120 Speaker 4: And that's what she should have been focusing on. And 1531 01:12:20,280 --> 01:12:22,440 Speaker 4: I agree with Ray. I think there was a regression 1532 01:12:22,479 --> 01:12:24,800 Speaker 4: in her striking. You know, I don't know if it's 1533 01:12:25,439 --> 01:12:28,120 Speaker 4: fair to say, hey, because she went with someone else, 1534 01:12:28,200 --> 01:12:29,320 Speaker 4: that's what's happening here. 1535 01:12:29,560 --> 01:12:30,680 Speaker 3: Maybe right right. 1536 01:12:31,640 --> 01:12:35,000 Speaker 4: However, sometimes when you're in a certain group with a 1537 01:12:35,040 --> 01:12:37,680 Speaker 4: certain coach and you switch things up, even if that 1538 01:12:37,760 --> 01:12:40,400 Speaker 4: coach is even better in some regards, it takes you 1539 01:12:40,400 --> 01:12:44,840 Speaker 4: a little while with their methodology, with their training, all 1540 01:12:44,920 --> 01:12:49,439 Speaker 4: those things. So I think that you know, how you 1541 01:12:49,520 --> 01:12:52,479 Speaker 4: focus your energy and what you focus on in training 1542 01:12:52,720 --> 01:12:55,759 Speaker 4: really does matter, and I'm not sure that was really 1543 01:12:55,840 --> 01:12:59,240 Speaker 4: taken advantage of in a fight like time is the 1544 01:12:59,240 --> 01:13:02,400 Speaker 4: most important, the thing that we have for life and 1545 01:13:02,439 --> 01:13:06,600 Speaker 4: for training, and if you're not maximizing that that thing optimally, 1546 01:13:07,040 --> 01:13:08,800 Speaker 4: then you're doing yourself a disservice. 1547 01:13:09,200 --> 01:13:10,960 Speaker 3: Yeah, let me let me touch on that A really 1548 01:13:10,960 --> 01:13:13,439 Speaker 3: really good what I meant with the striking too, But 1549 01:13:13,479 --> 01:13:16,200 Speaker 3: the wrestling is another issue. But I just thought she 1550 01:13:16,320 --> 01:13:18,920 Speaker 3: was coming along very nicely with the striking. I mean, 1551 01:13:18,920 --> 01:13:22,240 Speaker 3: she reverted back to swinging wild. Couldn't have put ahead 1552 01:13:22,280 --> 01:13:24,519 Speaker 3: more up in the air than it was. So I 1553 01:13:24,600 --> 01:13:26,960 Speaker 3: agree with you with the coaching because obviously I go 1554 01:13:27,040 --> 01:13:29,599 Speaker 3: through it. It takes time. People come to me. I'll spend 1555 01:13:29,640 --> 01:13:31,960 Speaker 3: three weeks with you. No, it doesn't work like that, right, 1556 01:13:32,000 --> 01:13:33,519 Speaker 3: you know, but you know what it is. You're ray 1557 01:13:33,560 --> 01:13:36,120 Speaker 3: long ago. You could deny that one hundred percent. I'm 1558 01:13:36,320 --> 01:13:39,240 Speaker 3: very one hundred percent. We're looking at a year, We're 1559 01:13:39,280 --> 01:13:41,280 Speaker 3: not looking at three weeks, buddy, you know what I mean. 1560 01:13:41,520 --> 01:13:44,639 Speaker 3: So I agree with that, But you still can't go 1561 01:13:44,720 --> 01:13:48,400 Speaker 3: from having somewhat of a structure to I mean, so 1562 01:13:48,479 --> 01:13:51,800 Speaker 3: to me, I think it's more psychological than physically. I 1563 01:13:51,800 --> 01:13:54,120 Speaker 3: don't think you could even lose that like that, you 1564 01:13:54,160 --> 01:13:57,240 Speaker 3: know what I mean. So I don't know as far 1565 01:13:57,280 --> 01:14:00,000 Speaker 3: as the wrestling, well, I'm gonna say, and I'm gonna 1566 01:13:59,920 --> 01:14:04,400 Speaker 3: speak probably at a line in a way, but getting 1567 01:14:04,439 --> 01:14:07,000 Speaker 3: a fight to the floor is way harder than keeping 1568 01:14:07,000 --> 01:14:10,320 Speaker 3: a fight standing up. I think. I think everybody's takedown 1569 01:14:10,400 --> 01:14:13,479 Speaker 3: defense is so squared away that if you are not 1570 01:14:14,120 --> 01:14:17,320 Speaker 3: bon Nickel and you got to expend energy that you 1571 01:14:17,360 --> 01:14:20,520 Speaker 3: don't want to expend, you're not doing it like it's 1572 01:14:20,320 --> 01:14:24,040 Speaker 3: it's everybody's got decent takedown defense. What we do in 1573 01:14:24,080 --> 01:14:26,800 Speaker 3: the gym, get up against the cage. I mean, it's 1574 01:14:26,880 --> 01:14:30,080 Speaker 3: not easy to get a guy down unless you're really 1575 01:14:30,120 --> 01:14:32,640 Speaker 3: at a high level. Like she wasn't a wrestler, so 1576 01:14:33,000 --> 01:14:35,080 Speaker 3: she has to learn wrestless. She's going to go up 1577 01:14:35,080 --> 01:14:39,240 Speaker 3: against like a Tatiana Suarez that's been wrestling. That's a 1578 01:14:39,280 --> 01:14:42,599 Speaker 3: hard ask man. Now on the floor, it's a different story. 1579 01:14:42,640 --> 01:14:45,200 Speaker 3: But I do agree that's where your time should be 1580 01:14:45,200 --> 01:14:48,240 Speaker 3: spent and you should be as crazy as getting that 1581 01:14:48,280 --> 01:14:50,720 Speaker 3: fight to the floor as the people that don't want 1582 01:14:50,720 --> 01:14:52,080 Speaker 3: to go to the floor, you know what I mean. 1583 01:14:52,120 --> 01:14:54,120 Speaker 3: That's the way it's got to be. But I see 1584 01:14:54,160 --> 01:14:56,360 Speaker 3: it in the gym, if you're expending a lot of 1585 01:14:56,439 --> 01:14:58,320 Speaker 3: energy and then you've got to come back up and strike. 1586 01:14:58,360 --> 01:15:00,400 Speaker 3: And that could have been even what happened. She got 1587 01:15:00,439 --> 01:15:02,360 Speaker 3: so tired trying to get the fight to the floor 1588 01:15:02,400 --> 01:15:07,639 Speaker 3: that it just discombobulates her striking altogether because now you're exhausted. Right, 1589 01:15:07,800 --> 01:15:12,640 Speaker 3: So that's a tricky one, man. I do agree with philosophically, 1590 01:15:12,680 --> 01:15:14,680 Speaker 3: it's right, but it's not easy getting the fight to 1591 01:15:14,720 --> 01:15:15,160 Speaker 3: the floor. 1592 01:15:15,400 --> 01:15:17,360 Speaker 4: Yeah, And I don't mean over the course of this 1593 01:15:17,600 --> 01:15:20,280 Speaker 4: training camp, right, that's not going to happen. Just the 1594 01:15:20,320 --> 01:15:24,120 Speaker 4: same way with striking. It takes so long to get 1595 01:15:24,120 --> 01:15:26,360 Speaker 4: your wrestling in order. It did for me anyway. But 1596 01:15:27,160 --> 01:15:29,559 Speaker 4: when she started her MMA career, when she found out 1597 01:15:29,600 --> 01:15:32,000 Speaker 4: she was going to go into the UFC, like that 1598 01:15:32,040 --> 01:15:34,760 Speaker 4: should have been the past, Yes, years ago. Your decisions 1599 01:15:34,760 --> 01:15:38,479 Speaker 4: that you make happened years years ahead. And I agree, 1600 01:15:38,479 --> 01:15:41,280 Speaker 4: I don't think she's she's doing that at this stage 1601 01:15:41,320 --> 01:15:44,000 Speaker 4: of the game. And and and we also have to 1602 01:15:44,240 --> 01:15:46,360 Speaker 4: have to say that was a tough stylistic matchup for 1603 01:15:46,439 --> 01:15:48,320 Speaker 4: it going to get someone like got Draj who is 1604 01:15:48,360 --> 01:15:51,040 Speaker 4: really strong on the feet. She's good with her takedown 1605 01:15:51,160 --> 01:15:54,960 Speaker 4: defense and wrestling and all that stuff, and she's so powerful. 1606 01:15:55,200 --> 01:15:58,280 Speaker 4: That was a tough matchup for you know, she took 1607 01:15:58,320 --> 01:16:00,960 Speaker 4: some big lumps in that fight. She she got knocked 1608 01:16:00,960 --> 01:16:03,200 Speaker 4: down a few times. She took some big shots. I'm 1609 01:16:03,240 --> 01:16:06,280 Speaker 4: just glad it wasn't one of those where you're like, ah, man, 1610 01:16:06,439 --> 01:16:08,479 Speaker 4: is she gonna be the same after that one. I 1611 01:16:08,479 --> 01:16:10,960 Speaker 4: don't think it was that bad, so I think she 1612 01:16:11,120 --> 01:16:14,679 Speaker 4: she can come back from it. But it was kind 1613 01:16:14,680 --> 01:16:16,439 Speaker 4: of close. You don't want to take a whole lot 1614 01:16:16,479 --> 01:16:18,840 Speaker 4: of damage when you're that small of a person. And 1615 01:16:20,160 --> 01:16:21,800 Speaker 4: I don't know. I hope she's able to regroup because 1616 01:16:21,840 --> 01:16:25,120 Speaker 4: Mackenzie is is she is so sweet and so nice. Yeah, 1617 01:16:25,240 --> 01:16:28,200 Speaker 4: she is so talented. So hopefully he's able to regroup 1618 01:16:28,240 --> 01:16:30,360 Speaker 4: and get things, get everything going. And she's dealing with 1619 01:16:30,400 --> 01:16:32,160 Speaker 4: a lot outside of the cages. 1620 01:16:32,240 --> 01:16:34,960 Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, get that all right. I think 1621 01:16:34,960 --> 01:16:37,000 Speaker 3: look when I was doing when I was doing accounting, 1622 01:16:37,360 --> 01:16:39,360 Speaker 3: like if a guy got divorced, the thing, don't even 1623 01:16:39,439 --> 01:16:41,160 Speaker 3: talk to the guy for six months, He's going to 1624 01:16:41,200 --> 01:16:44,160 Speaker 3: be useless. That was definitely the term you're gonna do. 1625 01:16:44,439 --> 01:16:47,559 Speaker 3: Anybody's been through a divorce or watch the people go 1626 01:16:47,680 --> 01:16:51,559 Speaker 3: through a divorce. It is. You can't do two things. 1627 01:16:51,880 --> 01:16:54,320 Speaker 3: There's no way you could go through a divorce and fight. 1628 01:16:54,800 --> 01:16:58,320 Speaker 3: I really don't unless you're a special person. Because that shit, 1629 01:16:58,560 --> 01:17:02,559 Speaker 3: especially her who you know, for I guess obvious reasons. 1630 01:17:03,040 --> 01:17:06,880 Speaker 3: She's the supporter. She's got to pay the other person. 1631 01:17:06,600 --> 01:17:09,120 Speaker 4: You know, domestic violence. Domestic violence, Yeah. 1632 01:17:09,000 --> 01:17:11,320 Speaker 3: Right, I mean think about it. I mean, yeah, we're 1633 01:17:11,320 --> 01:17:14,080 Speaker 3: bringing up we're going in another direction. But based on that, 1634 01:17:14,120 --> 01:17:16,680 Speaker 3: I don't even blame her performance. I really don't. I'm 1635 01:17:16,720 --> 01:17:19,800 Speaker 3: not even kidding. I think that's how psychologically messed up 1636 01:17:19,840 --> 01:17:22,000 Speaker 3: you get. Because Kenny, it almost looked like the old 1637 01:17:22,040 --> 01:17:24,080 Speaker 3: school jiu jitsu guys that didn't want to get off 1638 01:17:24,120 --> 01:17:25,960 Speaker 3: their ass, like when they got knocked down and they 1639 01:17:26,360 --> 01:17:29,320 Speaker 3: I mean, it was a regression to me. But now 1640 01:17:29,360 --> 01:17:32,000 Speaker 3: that we're talking about it, it makes more sense that 1641 01:17:32,080 --> 01:17:37,800 Speaker 3: I think mentally she just she I don't think she 1642 01:17:37,880 --> 01:17:41,400 Speaker 3: could be there. I've watched people get destroyed, and it 1643 01:17:41,560 --> 01:17:44,840 Speaker 3: takes a real special person to be able to do 1644 01:17:45,240 --> 01:17:47,960 Speaker 3: more than one thing when you're getting divorced, and that's 1645 01:17:48,320 --> 01:17:50,320 Speaker 3: that's going to take her a while. But you know, 1646 01:17:50,400 --> 01:17:52,400 Speaker 3: because again with the wrestling, you're right to look at 1647 01:17:52,800 --> 01:17:56,600 Speaker 3: Lanchfield made that fight look easy, and she can wrestle, 1648 01:17:56,960 --> 01:17:57,519 Speaker 3: you know what I mean. 1649 01:17:57,640 --> 01:17:59,280 Speaker 4: So I've just been dealing with that as well. We 1650 01:17:59,280 --> 01:18:00,680 Speaker 4: should say too, you know. 1651 01:18:00,760 --> 01:18:03,320 Speaker 3: A hundred I mean think about that, you know, I 1652 01:18:03,360 --> 01:18:06,439 Speaker 3: don't know if it's I don't. Yeah, that's about but 1653 01:18:06,520 --> 01:18:08,679 Speaker 3: that's crazy though. Yeah, but you're right though they both 1654 01:18:08,680 --> 01:18:10,920 Speaker 3: were dealing with it. I don't know. 1655 01:18:11,160 --> 01:18:13,519 Speaker 1: Dixie Chan wanted nine minutes on all of that stuff. 1656 01:18:14,880 --> 01:18:19,360 Speaker 1: We can't do it, Dixie. You have my email if 1657 01:18:19,400 --> 01:18:25,679 Speaker 1: you want to be an associate producer and normalized question. 1658 01:18:25,800 --> 01:18:28,000 Speaker 1: So if Dixie and Ray, maybe you guys could collaborate 1659 01:18:28,000 --> 01:18:29,920 Speaker 1: on what the fuck you want to ask you? If 1660 01:18:29,960 --> 01:18:33,960 Speaker 1: you would like to email me uh questions my email address, 1661 01:18:34,000 --> 01:18:36,040 Speaker 1: we can do that. I do think real quick in 1662 01:18:36,080 --> 01:18:41,839 Speaker 1: all seriousness fighting on jobs. Right, she was in desperation 1663 01:18:41,920 --> 01:18:44,400 Speaker 1: mode of her fifth fight of the year, right, lost 1664 01:18:44,400 --> 01:18:47,439 Speaker 1: three in a row, like total desperation time for her. 1665 01:18:47,680 --> 01:18:49,759 Speaker 1: And I would say, Mackenzie durn like she's not afraid 1666 01:18:49,800 --> 01:18:51,800 Speaker 1: to get hit, that's for damn sure. Right, she is tough. 1667 01:18:52,040 --> 01:18:54,880 Speaker 1: She has shown measures of heart at times in these fights, 1668 01:18:55,240 --> 01:18:57,759 Speaker 1: and you just have to wonder about about the pressure 1669 01:18:57,800 --> 01:19:00,840 Speaker 1: of expectations. When was it first presented to Kenzie, Like, hey, 1670 01:19:00,880 --> 01:19:03,439 Speaker 1: you know you just beat Gabby Garcia in a jiu 1671 01:19:03,520 --> 01:19:07,000 Speaker 1: jitsu match in which there was a one hundred pounds differential, Like, 1672 01:19:07,280 --> 01:19:09,439 Speaker 1: maybe you should try mixed martial arts. I feel like 1673 01:19:09,560 --> 01:19:12,040 Speaker 1: there's always been that pressure, and I've never peeled back 1674 01:19:12,080 --> 01:19:14,120 Speaker 1: the curtain with Mackenzie Durn to know how much she 1675 01:19:14,200 --> 01:19:16,920 Speaker 1: really wanted this career. I think she does want to 1676 01:19:16,920 --> 01:19:19,200 Speaker 1: be a fighter and be a world champion, but uh, 1677 01:19:19,640 --> 01:19:22,479 Speaker 1: you know everything has to align for for that to happen. 1678 01:19:22,520 --> 01:19:24,719 Speaker 1: Do you guys have anything else on McKenzie durn. 1679 01:19:27,040 --> 01:19:28,759 Speaker 3: It depends on squeeze. 1680 01:19:29,000 --> 01:19:30,000 Speaker 4: Waitit way good? 1681 01:19:30,040 --> 01:19:34,000 Speaker 3: Wait there? Does first off, your pass as Miss John 1682 01:19:34,120 --> 01:19:39,960 Speaker 3: is not appreciated on this show. Does Dixie Chan have 1683 01:19:40,040 --> 01:19:42,559 Speaker 3: anything else you would like us to discuss? We here 1684 01:19:42,600 --> 01:19:45,600 Speaker 3: to please the fans? We are? Are we not? 1685 01:19:45,800 --> 01:19:46,719 Speaker 1: Listener and viewer? 1686 01:19:46,800 --> 01:19:50,160 Speaker 3: First? Not about you. It's not about your new studio anymore. 1687 01:19:50,160 --> 01:19:51,280 Speaker 3: It's about the fans. 1688 01:19:52,640 --> 01:19:55,120 Speaker 1: That's right, all right? I have I have it with you. 1689 01:19:56,040 --> 01:19:58,920 Speaker 1: More things with Ray Longo before we go. You're the fucking man, Spencer. I 1804 01:26:06,680 --> 01:26:11,320 Speaker 1: didn't want to cuts that early. Now, longtime UFC fan 1805 01:26:11,840 --> 01:26:15,559 Speaker 1: friend of mine, supporting the Toronto Blue Jays and just 1806 01:26:15,720 --> 01:26:18,439 Speaker 1: looking like a million bucks as usual. What's up, my man? 1807 01:26:18,439 --> 01:26:21,920 Speaker 1: How are we doing? Hey doing guys, We are doing well. 1808 01:26:21,960 --> 01:26:25,160 Speaker 1: So this is a long time coming and we have 1809 01:26:25,280 --> 01:26:27,479 Speaker 1: been waiting to talk to you. You are a big 1810 01:26:27,560 --> 01:26:31,040 Speaker 1: NFL fan, obviously a UFC fan. You have been confided 1811 01:26:31,080 --> 01:26:33,880 Speaker 1: to a wheelchair for your entire life. You have gone 1812 01:26:33,960 --> 01:26:37,320 Speaker 1: on to realize great success professionally as a motivational speaker. 1813 01:26:37,400 --> 01:26:39,280 Speaker 1: I run through the list of guests that you have 1814 01:26:39,360 --> 01:26:41,519 Speaker 1: talked to on your own show and some of your 1815 01:26:41,560 --> 01:26:45,640 Speaker 1: professional endeavors, and I have so many different questions, but 1816 01:26:46,000 --> 01:26:47,559 Speaker 1: I guess I just would like to start with your 1817 01:26:47,640 --> 01:26:51,479 Speaker 1: UFC fanaticism, if I could call it that. So we're 1818 01:26:51,520 --> 01:26:54,160 Speaker 1: not all that many hours removed from Brendon Allen meeting 1819 01:26:54,160 --> 01:26:56,959 Speaker 1: Paul Craig and a UFC main event at the Apex. 1820 01:26:57,000 --> 01:26:59,760 Speaker 1: It's one of forty one UFC fights a year. I 1821 01:26:59,800 --> 01:27:02,880 Speaker 1: know you're supporting me with text messages and suggestive pay 1822 01:27:02,920 --> 01:27:06,120 Speaker 1: per view copy for me every week. Do you watch 1823 01:27:06,439 --> 01:27:08,519 Speaker 1: all forty one of these shows? And if not, how 1824 01:27:08,520 --> 01:27:10,360 Speaker 1: many of these live events are you actually ingested? 1825 01:27:11,120 --> 01:27:12,080 Speaker 3: Absolutely not. 1826 01:27:12,280 --> 01:27:16,240 Speaker 7: I don't watch all forty one because, quite frankly, I 1827 01:27:16,320 --> 01:27:18,599 Speaker 7: get too much mileage on my chair. You know, I'm 1828 01:27:18,640 --> 01:27:21,000 Speaker 7: going from one place to another all the damn time, 1829 01:27:21,120 --> 01:27:24,000 Speaker 7: So I watch as many as I can, but definitely 1830 01:27:24,040 --> 01:27:25,160 Speaker 7: not all forty one. 1831 01:27:25,600 --> 01:27:26,160 Speaker 3: Ken Flow. 1832 01:27:26,200 --> 01:27:28,400 Speaker 7: It's nice to see you, by the way, as well. 1833 01:27:28,680 --> 01:27:31,000 Speaker 7: I haven't seen you in a long, long time. The 1834 01:27:31,080 --> 01:27:35,200 Speaker 7: last time I saw you was at breakfast with one 1835 01:27:35,280 --> 01:27:41,720 Speaker 7: of our favorites, Mark Delagrotti, aka the individual who likes 1836 01:27:41,760 --> 01:27:44,800 Speaker 7: to be the bougiest person on the road in the 1837 01:27:44,960 --> 01:27:49,880 Speaker 7: entire UFC roster, because he likes to walk into hotel 1838 01:27:50,000 --> 01:27:54,520 Speaker 7: lobbies with his Guccie suitcases or his Louis Vaiton suitcases 1839 01:27:54,840 --> 01:27:57,559 Speaker 7: and different things like that. I have no idea what 1840 01:27:57,600 --> 01:28:00,320 Speaker 7: the hell's going on with that guy. The main reason 1841 01:28:00,360 --> 01:28:03,680 Speaker 7: I hang with it. The main reason I hang out 1842 01:28:03,720 --> 01:28:06,000 Speaker 7: with him is the same reason I hang out with 1843 01:28:06,080 --> 01:28:09,120 Speaker 7: John candidly, and that's because both of them are more 1844 01:28:09,120 --> 01:28:10,320 Speaker 7: handicapped than I am. 1845 01:28:10,439 --> 01:28:16,919 Speaker 1: So I knew that was Covin. So yeah, that's brilliant. 1846 01:28:17,240 --> 01:28:20,920 Speaker 1: So You've had the chance to talk to Dana White, 1847 01:28:20,960 --> 01:28:23,439 Speaker 1: to talk to George Saint Pierre, to work alongside Kee 1848 01:28:23,520 --> 01:28:27,040 Speaker 1: for Sutherland and Designated Survivor. But I would say you're 1849 01:28:27,160 --> 01:28:30,479 Speaker 1: probably probably your most important life's work would be speaking 1850 01:28:30,560 --> 01:28:34,720 Speaker 1: and sort of imparting you know, your knowledge and how 1851 01:28:34,760 --> 01:28:37,640 Speaker 1: you've dealt with your sort of given hand, right, I mean, 1852 01:28:37,680 --> 01:28:40,400 Speaker 1: wouldn't you say that that has been your greatest contribution, 1853 01:28:40,479 --> 01:28:43,360 Speaker 1: even though you've done obviously higher profile things than that. 1854 01:28:44,160 --> 01:28:48,960 Speaker 7: Well, I would say yes and no, because obviously I 1855 01:28:49,040 --> 01:28:51,360 Speaker 7: can't get away from the fact that I'm in a wheelchair. 1856 01:28:51,439 --> 01:28:55,280 Speaker 7: My disability is my disability. I've had it my entire life. 1857 01:28:55,320 --> 01:28:59,360 Speaker 7: But in the end, I don't think about my disability. 1858 01:28:59,400 --> 01:29:02,559 Speaker 7: But for five I have seconds on average throughout the 1859 01:29:02,600 --> 01:29:04,880 Speaker 7: course of the day when I open my eyes first 1860 01:29:04,920 --> 01:29:08,040 Speaker 7: thing in the morning and say, oh shit, I can't 1861 01:29:08,080 --> 01:29:11,640 Speaker 7: walk still? All right, great, And that's about it, you know, 1862 01:29:12,600 --> 01:29:17,519 Speaker 7: so do it like supporting the handicapped community and being 1863 01:29:17,520 --> 01:29:21,320 Speaker 7: a voice for the handicapped community. Absolutely, But it hasn't 1864 01:29:21,400 --> 01:29:24,479 Speaker 7: defined my career who I am as an individual. It 1865 01:29:24,640 --> 01:29:27,920 Speaker 7: just happens to be part and parcel with what I do. 1866 01:29:28,479 --> 01:29:33,400 Speaker 7: And also, in full disclosure for those who don't know 1867 01:29:33,760 --> 01:29:36,520 Speaker 7: who are watching this or listening to this right now, 1868 01:29:36,960 --> 01:29:40,439 Speaker 7: the UFC has had an individual with them for a 1869 01:29:40,520 --> 01:29:44,200 Speaker 7: long long time by the name of Stephen Quinn as well. 1870 01:29:44,800 --> 01:29:49,160 Speaker 7: And Stephen Quinn is also in a wheelchair. And for 1871 01:29:49,400 --> 01:29:51,800 Speaker 7: years and years and years when I was on the 1872 01:29:51,920 --> 01:29:56,519 Speaker 7: road with the UFC, almost every week Steven would annoy 1873 01:29:56,640 --> 01:29:59,760 Speaker 7: the living shit out of me and come up to 1874 01:29:59,840 --> 01:30:04,400 Speaker 7: me every week and say, Spence, we need the race, 1875 01:30:04,720 --> 01:30:07,320 Speaker 7: we need the race. And I would always and I 1876 01:30:07,320 --> 01:30:11,360 Speaker 7: would always say to him, No, I'm not fucking racing you. 1877 01:30:11,800 --> 01:30:15,559 Speaker 3: This is not happening, okay. And then and. 1878 01:30:15,479 --> 01:30:20,240 Speaker 7: Then we had a UFC event here in Toronto. 1879 01:30:20,360 --> 01:30:23,000 Speaker 3: It was Gustafson versus. 1880 01:30:22,680 --> 01:30:26,680 Speaker 7: Jones, and we were at the hotel and I was 1881 01:30:26,720 --> 01:30:33,599 Speaker 7: having food with Dan Murgliana and my assistant slash friend Sean, 1882 01:30:33,680 --> 01:30:37,360 Speaker 7: who you both met a couple of different times. And 1883 01:30:37,479 --> 01:30:40,960 Speaker 7: once again he came up to me and he said, Spence, 1884 01:30:41,000 --> 01:30:43,559 Speaker 7: we need the race, and I said, fine, fuck it, 1885 01:30:43,640 --> 01:30:47,160 Speaker 7: We're in my hometown. I want to finally shut you up. 1886 01:30:47,439 --> 01:30:50,599 Speaker 7: We're gonna do it right now. So we did it 1887 01:30:50,800 --> 01:30:55,960 Speaker 7: in the lobby of the Weston Harbor Castle Hotel. I 1888 01:30:56,040 --> 01:31:00,920 Speaker 7: started with Stephen Quinn at one end of the lobby. 1889 01:31:01,200 --> 01:31:05,160 Speaker 7: Murgleiotta and Sean went to the other end of the 1890 01:31:05,200 --> 01:31:09,920 Speaker 7: lobby to refit, and needless to say, it was like 1891 01:31:10,080 --> 01:31:12,960 Speaker 7: fast and the furious. I smoked his ass right off 1892 01:31:13,000 --> 01:31:18,360 Speaker 7: the line. And he never asked me to race ever again. 1893 01:31:20,160 --> 01:31:22,960 Speaker 1: I'm going to have to corroborate that with Steven Spencer. 1894 01:31:23,560 --> 01:31:26,280 Speaker 3: Okay, great, I love it. 1895 01:31:26,400 --> 01:31:31,040 Speaker 4: That's hilarious. So, Spencer, when did you become a UFC fan? 1896 01:31:32,080 --> 01:31:37,439 Speaker 7: So, in two thousand and nine, a gentleman by the 1897 01:31:37,520 --> 01:31:42,559 Speaker 7: name of Tom Wright was appointed as the president of 1898 01:31:42,840 --> 01:31:46,160 Speaker 7: UFC Canada when they were opening up the new big 1899 01:31:46,320 --> 01:31:50,960 Speaker 7: UFC Canada office. And right before that he was the 1900 01:31:51,000 --> 01:31:55,200 Speaker 7: commissioner of the Canadian Football League. And I was working 1901 01:31:55,280 --> 01:31:59,160 Speaker 7: with the Toronto Argonauts at the time and we had 1902 01:31:59,200 --> 01:32:04,000 Speaker 7: become friends, and then I had stopped working with the Argonauts, 1903 01:32:04,000 --> 01:32:07,080 Speaker 7: but still remain friends with Tom Wright, so at his 1904 01:32:07,240 --> 01:32:09,519 Speaker 7: introductory press conference. 1905 01:32:10,520 --> 01:32:12,320 Speaker 3: At the Rogers. 1906 01:32:11,960 --> 01:32:15,640 Speaker 7: Center aka SkyDome, it will always be the SkyDome for 1907 01:32:15,720 --> 01:32:21,240 Speaker 7: me personally speaking. I went down there and you know, 1908 01:32:22,080 --> 01:32:25,880 Speaker 7: Lorenzo was there, and Dana was there, and everybody was there, 1909 01:32:26,320 --> 01:32:29,960 Speaker 7: and as I do in most situations, I left an 1910 01:32:29,960 --> 01:32:38,040 Speaker 7: impression and quickly became friends with everybody, and that led 1911 01:32:38,120 --> 01:32:43,240 Speaker 7: me to go to over ninety three fights I believe 1912 01:32:43,240 --> 01:32:47,160 Speaker 7: it was in different cities and things like that. And 1913 01:32:47,520 --> 01:32:52,280 Speaker 7: I always sat right next to Joe Silva and Rogan 1914 01:32:52,840 --> 01:32:55,879 Speaker 7: and all of those guys, so I was right there. 1915 01:32:56,080 --> 01:33:00,519 Speaker 7: There was actually a drinking game that was creating on 1916 01:33:00,600 --> 01:33:04,640 Speaker 7: the internet because every time people saw me on a 1917 01:33:04,680 --> 01:33:06,839 Speaker 7: pay per view they would take a shot. 1918 01:33:07,200 --> 01:33:09,360 Speaker 3: So a lot of people got drunk. 1919 01:33:09,120 --> 01:33:15,000 Speaker 7: Because of me, essentially, and I just I just loved it. 1920 01:33:15,080 --> 01:33:18,840 Speaker 7: And you know, back then especially, it was thought of 1921 01:33:19,360 --> 01:33:25,360 Speaker 7: as quite the family within the organization, and wonderful people 1922 01:33:25,560 --> 01:33:30,200 Speaker 7: like Michelle Watkins did my travel a lot of the time, 1923 01:33:30,320 --> 01:33:34,639 Speaker 7: and Liz Hedges and Dona Marcalini and all these people 1924 01:33:34,680 --> 01:33:36,760 Speaker 7: on and on and on down the list, and of 1925 01:33:36,800 --> 01:33:40,000 Speaker 7: course are beloved Susie who would come up and give 1926 01:33:40,040 --> 01:33:44,160 Speaker 7: me a bear hug cage side multiple times and scared 1927 01:33:44,200 --> 01:33:46,000 Speaker 7: the living shit out of me because I didn't know 1928 01:33:46,080 --> 01:33:48,040 Speaker 7: that she was coming, you know. 1929 01:33:50,000 --> 01:33:52,360 Speaker 1: Yeah right. I mean, Kenny knows a lot of those people. Obviously, 1930 01:33:52,360 --> 01:33:56,400 Speaker 1: Dona Michelle Walkins still in the travel department. She's outstanding. 1931 01:33:56,680 --> 01:34:00,040 Speaker 4: He's not this MMA Nuke ninety three live events. So 1932 01:34:00,400 --> 01:34:03,479 Speaker 4: what is your most memorable event out of all those? 1933 01:34:04,960 --> 01:34:08,240 Speaker 7: John knows the answer to this because I talk about 1934 01:34:08,280 --> 01:34:12,920 Speaker 7: it all the time. It was the heavy weight card 1935 01:34:13,360 --> 01:34:16,559 Speaker 7: that we had a number of years ago in Vegas, 1936 01:34:16,920 --> 01:34:20,200 Speaker 7: and only for the simple reason that it was all 1937 01:34:20,240 --> 01:34:21,360 Speaker 7: finishes that night. 1938 01:34:21,760 --> 01:34:23,280 Speaker 3: So we got out of. 1939 01:34:23,200 --> 01:34:27,040 Speaker 7: The arena and done the press conference by nine o'clock, 1940 01:34:27,439 --> 01:34:30,559 Speaker 7: which never happens, and I was like, oh my god, 1941 01:34:30,640 --> 01:34:33,720 Speaker 7: I can actually get a few ers of sleep before we. 1942 01:34:33,840 --> 01:34:35,920 Speaker 3: Have to hop on the shuttle and go back to 1943 01:34:36,000 --> 01:34:36,599 Speaker 3: the airport. 1944 01:34:37,600 --> 01:34:37,800 Speaker 4: Right. 1945 01:34:38,479 --> 01:34:41,200 Speaker 1: So, Spencer Miller with us here on the Anakin Floran podcast. 1946 01:34:41,240 --> 01:34:43,960 Speaker 1: I have to ask you about Keifer Sutherland and your 1947 01:34:43,960 --> 01:34:47,200 Speaker 1: experience on Designated Survivor. I would encourage people to check 1948 01:34:47,240 --> 01:34:49,840 Speaker 1: it out if you have not seen Spencer's appearance. But 1949 01:34:50,479 --> 01:34:53,680 Speaker 1: you talk about leaving an impression, and I don't know 1950 01:34:53,720 --> 01:34:57,000 Speaker 1: if you were always comedically inclined, but certainly the jumping 1951 01:34:57,000 --> 01:34:59,840 Speaker 1: off point to our relationship was like you just making 1952 01:34:59,880 --> 01:35:03,720 Speaker 1: me laugh out loud within thirty seconds of me meeting you, 1953 01:35:03,840 --> 01:35:08,000 Speaker 1: not unlike the way you probably had our audience grasped 1954 01:35:08,040 --> 01:35:10,000 Speaker 1: by just the way you sort of enter a room 1955 01:35:10,080 --> 01:35:15,280 Speaker 1: with a presence. So how did that acting opportunity come about? 1956 01:35:15,360 --> 01:35:18,360 Speaker 1: And how much credit do you deserve as an individual 1957 01:35:18,400 --> 01:35:20,720 Speaker 1: for your ability with your personality and your disposition to 1958 01:35:20,720 --> 01:35:21,599 Speaker 1: break down those stores. 1959 01:35:24,200 --> 01:35:28,520 Speaker 7: I've always been in the entertainment business with my motivational 1960 01:35:28,560 --> 01:35:31,599 Speaker 7: speaking and been fortunate enough to work with some great people. 1961 01:35:32,520 --> 01:35:34,880 Speaker 7: You know, we can go down the list, but I 1962 01:35:34,920 --> 01:35:38,040 Speaker 7: don't really want to pump my own tires, even though 1963 01:35:38,080 --> 01:35:39,840 Speaker 7: out of the three of us right now, I'm the 1964 01:35:39,840 --> 01:35:42,080 Speaker 7: only one that can pump tires because I'm always in 1965 01:35:42,120 --> 01:35:42,479 Speaker 7: a chair. 1966 01:35:42,560 --> 01:35:43,599 Speaker 3: But I digress. 1967 01:35:45,360 --> 01:35:48,800 Speaker 1: But we get some Toyot tires on your wheelchair? Is 1968 01:35:48,800 --> 01:35:49,400 Speaker 1: that possible? 1969 01:35:50,000 --> 01:35:54,400 Speaker 7: Yes, we can get some Toio tires on my But 1970 01:35:55,240 --> 01:35:59,400 Speaker 7: the way that the designated survivor thing happened was when 1971 01:36:00,040 --> 01:36:04,840 Speaker 7: Kist started doing twenty four. He said to me, He's like, 1972 01:36:05,439 --> 01:36:08,920 Speaker 7: if I ever do a show in Toronto, I want 1973 01:36:08,960 --> 01:36:12,120 Speaker 7: you to be a fucking part of it, to which 1974 01:36:12,200 --> 01:36:16,000 Speaker 7: I said, yeah, yeah, whatever, and I just brushed it off. 1975 01:36:16,600 --> 01:36:17,400 Speaker 3: And then I. 1976 01:36:17,400 --> 01:36:23,240 Speaker 7: Get a call in twenty seventeen early saying, Hey, Spence, 1977 01:36:23,600 --> 01:36:27,519 Speaker 7: I'm fucking coming to Toronto doing a new political thriller 1978 01:36:27,640 --> 01:36:32,640 Speaker 7: kind of like twenty four meets the West Wing, and 1979 01:36:32,680 --> 01:36:34,759 Speaker 7: I want you to be a part of it, and 1980 01:36:35,280 --> 01:36:42,560 Speaker 7: I want you to come and meet with the showrunner 1981 01:36:43,600 --> 01:36:46,719 Speaker 7: of the show and the person who created the show, 1982 01:36:46,880 --> 01:36:51,639 Speaker 7: David Gougenheim. And so we sat down and we talked 1983 01:36:51,680 --> 01:36:55,880 Speaker 7: about what my character would be over beer and chicken wings, 1984 01:36:56,320 --> 01:36:59,960 Speaker 7: and three hours later I was part of the show. 1985 01:37:00,000 --> 01:37:04,800 Speaker 1: Well that's amazing. So you talk to George San Pierre, 1986 01:37:04,840 --> 01:37:09,160 Speaker 1: you talked to Dana White, what's the most memorable guest 1987 01:37:09,320 --> 01:37:12,519 Speaker 1: or interview that you've ever done on your podcast? Where 1988 01:37:12,560 --> 01:37:15,479 Speaker 1: you may be like, hang, hang up the headset or 1989 01:37:15,560 --> 01:37:17,760 Speaker 1: put down the headset, and you're just like, man, you 1990 01:37:17,800 --> 01:37:19,360 Speaker 1: know that one's going to be hard to talk. 1991 01:37:21,640 --> 01:37:24,320 Speaker 7: This may be an obscure one for your audience. But 1992 01:37:24,400 --> 01:37:27,479 Speaker 7: there's a gentleman by the name of Sean Foley who 1993 01:37:27,520 --> 01:37:31,480 Speaker 7: is also a fellow Canadian. He is a very successful 1994 01:37:31,520 --> 01:37:34,280 Speaker 7: swing coach used to be Tiger Woods as swing coach 1995 01:37:34,680 --> 01:37:37,920 Speaker 7: at one time and worked with Justin Rose and a 1996 01:37:37,960 --> 01:37:41,400 Speaker 7: whole bunch of PGA golfers right now. And the reason 1997 01:37:41,439 --> 01:37:44,920 Speaker 7: why that one is most memorable for me is because 1998 01:37:44,960 --> 01:37:47,920 Speaker 7: he's the one who taught me how to initially golf 1999 01:37:48,280 --> 01:37:50,519 Speaker 7: from my wheelchair while he was still here in the 2000 01:37:50,560 --> 01:37:56,360 Speaker 7: Toronto area, and he said to me that because of 2001 01:37:56,400 --> 01:37:59,200 Speaker 7: his interactions with me and hanging out with me and 2002 01:37:59,240 --> 01:38:02,200 Speaker 7: his friendship with me, he was able to come to 2003 01:38:02,280 --> 01:38:05,559 Speaker 7: grips with the fact that his son might have been 2004 01:38:05,600 --> 01:38:09,439 Speaker 7: born with cerebral palsy due to a defect that was happening, 2005 01:38:10,400 --> 01:38:13,439 Speaker 7: and they had to come up with a decision in 2006 01:38:13,479 --> 01:38:16,160 Speaker 7: a very short period of time as to whether or 2007 01:38:16,200 --> 01:38:18,519 Speaker 7: not to keep the baby or get rid of the baby. 2008 01:38:18,720 --> 01:38:22,599 Speaker 7: They ultimately kept the baby because of his interactions with 2009 01:38:22,680 --> 01:38:27,439 Speaker 7: me and seeing that I could do everything that I do, 2010 01:38:28,160 --> 01:38:32,360 Speaker 7: and luckily his kid was able to overcome that and 2011 01:38:32,400 --> 01:38:37,000 Speaker 7: he's perfectly fine now and he's a teenager. But that one, 2012 01:38:37,040 --> 01:38:39,120 Speaker 7: for me has always stuck out to me because he 2013 01:38:39,200 --> 01:38:43,040 Speaker 7: never told me that story until he was on the 2014 01:38:43,120 --> 01:38:47,280 Speaker 7: podcast and he started literally crying on the podcast while 2015 01:38:47,320 --> 01:38:50,400 Speaker 7: telling me, And it has always stuck with me because 2016 01:38:50,439 --> 01:38:50,640 Speaker 7: of that. 2017 01:38:51,960 --> 01:38:55,360 Speaker 1: Wow, that's incredible. On Instagram you can find him at 2018 01:38:55,479 --> 01:38:58,720 Speaker 1: the Spencer Miller And you know, there's nothing worse for me, 2019 01:38:58,800 --> 01:39:01,280 Speaker 1: Kenfull than when I finished my pay per view open copy. 2020 01:39:01,320 --> 01:39:03,160 Speaker 1: And sometimes I'll put it out there to the masses 2021 01:39:03,200 --> 01:39:05,799 Speaker 1: on Instagram and then Spencer will text me something better 2022 01:39:06,240 --> 01:39:09,280 Speaker 1: as actually happened I think in UFC two ninety five, 2023 01:39:09,680 --> 01:39:12,720 Speaker 1: and I'm already too deep into the memorization part of 2024 01:39:12,720 --> 01:39:16,200 Speaker 1: it to circle back. But Spence, you know, keep those 2025 01:39:16,240 --> 01:39:19,400 Speaker 1: texts coming. I will see you in Toronto in January. 2026 01:39:19,400 --> 01:39:22,519 Speaker 1: We appreciate your supporting the show in the UFC and Dude, 2027 01:39:22,600 --> 01:39:24,760 Speaker 1: keep making us laugh, keep being the fucking soldier and 2028 01:39:24,800 --> 01:39:25,559 Speaker 1: good egg that you are. 2029 01:39:25,600 --> 01:39:29,639 Speaker 7: Brother, absolutely and can Ken. This is the least amount 2030 01:39:29,720 --> 01:39:33,559 Speaker 7: of time ever in all of our interactions that you've talked. 2031 01:39:33,920 --> 01:39:37,440 Speaker 7: So next time I'm on the show, actually step actually, 2032 01:39:37,640 --> 01:39:40,519 Speaker 7: actually step up a little bit because I can't step 2033 01:39:40,600 --> 01:39:44,080 Speaker 7: anywhere and actually talk a little bit. Shelly, you're giving 2034 01:39:44,800 --> 01:39:47,559 Speaker 7: Della Groddi way too much credit here with his Doucci 2035 01:39:47,680 --> 01:39:49,960 Speaker 7: bags and his Louis Baton bags here, you. 2036 01:39:49,960 --> 01:39:54,080 Speaker 4: Know, oh man, that is gold. Dude, great to see 2037 01:39:54,080 --> 01:39:54,639 Speaker 4: you man. 2038 01:39:55,040 --> 01:39:58,880 Speaker 1: Hey, thank You's week eleven. Handicap on the board, Go 2039 01:39:58,920 --> 01:40:01,320 Speaker 1: Blue Jays, Go Beefs. We'll talk to you soon. 2040 01:40:01,400 --> 01:40:04,920 Speaker 7: Broke, you say handicap on the board when I'm on 2041 01:40:04,960 --> 01:40:08,040 Speaker 7: the show, just putting it out there. 2042 01:40:08,720 --> 01:40:11,200 Speaker 1: Urb choice could have been a little better, Hey, cap 2043 01:40:11,200 --> 01:40:14,040 Speaker 1: in the board betting the board? Are you betting today? 2044 01:40:14,360 --> 01:40:15,320 Speaker 1: Betting today? 2045 01:40:15,560 --> 01:40:16,280 Speaker 3: Yes, I am. 2046 01:40:16,560 --> 01:40:19,400 Speaker 7: And just as my last point because I know that 2047 01:40:19,479 --> 01:40:21,400 Speaker 7: you wanted to talk to me about this but we 2048 01:40:21,439 --> 01:40:25,640 Speaker 7: didn't get to it. I believe that the Niners obviously 2049 01:40:25,720 --> 01:40:28,240 Speaker 7: hit their bump in the road. They were able to 2050 01:40:28,280 --> 01:40:31,400 Speaker 7: get back on track last week, and I believe that 2051 01:40:31,400 --> 01:40:31,920 Speaker 7: that is. 2052 01:40:31,840 --> 01:40:33,160 Speaker 3: Going to continue. 2053 01:40:33,600 --> 01:40:36,240 Speaker 7: I also think that it is unfair a little bit 2054 01:40:37,080 --> 01:40:41,000 Speaker 7: that Brock Purdy got ultimately thrown under the bus as 2055 01:40:41,040 --> 01:40:45,080 Speaker 7: heavily as he did during that three game losing streak, 2056 01:40:45,200 --> 01:40:48,840 Speaker 7: because you know that something like that was inevitably going 2057 01:40:48,880 --> 01:40:51,720 Speaker 7: to happen for him. So I believe that they are 2058 01:40:51,840 --> 01:40:55,799 Speaker 7: back on the right track. Their defense is absolutely stacked, 2059 01:40:55,920 --> 01:41:01,000 Speaker 7: especially matching up the old Ohio State inmates and Chase 2060 01:41:01,040 --> 01:41:03,479 Speaker 7: Young and Nick Bosa and have looked out from my 2061 01:41:03,600 --> 01:41:07,200 Speaker 7: Niners at super Bowl fifty eight. In just a couple 2062 01:41:07,280 --> 01:41:08,000 Speaker 7: months here. 2063 01:41:09,320 --> 01:41:11,439 Speaker 1: Dude, I had San Francisco forty nine Ers in my 2064 01:41:11,520 --> 01:41:13,320 Speaker 1: notes to ask you about the Niners, but I think 2065 01:41:13,320 --> 01:41:15,800 Speaker 1: it was so distracted by the aesthetic with your cool 2066 01:41:15,840 --> 01:41:20,080 Speaker 1: blue shades fucking gangster look on a Sunday morning that 2067 01:41:19,720 --> 01:41:21,519 Speaker 1: I that I didn't get to it. But I think 2068 01:41:21,560 --> 01:41:24,320 Speaker 1: your your analysis is spot on as usual, and we'll 2069 01:41:24,360 --> 01:41:26,479 Speaker 1: see if the forty nine Ers make me rip up 2070 01:41:26,520 --> 01:41:29,320 Speaker 1: my Philadelphia Eagles to win the NFC ticket. Hey, Spencer, 2071 01:41:29,320 --> 01:41:31,000 Speaker 1: we appreciate the time, brother. I will see you in 2072 01:41:31,080 --> 01:41:33,639 Speaker 1: a actually like two months from tomorrow. Brother, but thanks 2073 01:41:33,680 --> 01:41:34,120 Speaker 1: for coming on. 2074 01:41:34,920 --> 01:41:37,800 Speaker 3: Absolutely always pleasure. Looking forward to doing it again soon. 2075 01:41:38,120 --> 01:41:41,080 Speaker 7: And Ken Flow, We're going to keep in touch so 2076 01:41:41,120 --> 01:41:44,679 Speaker 7: I can continue to bust your balls from Afar as well. 2077 01:41:44,680 --> 01:41:45,120 Speaker 3: My friend. 2078 01:41:45,320 --> 01:41:47,080 Speaker 1: Please do Yeah, I'm going to give you his number. 2079 01:41:47,080 --> 01:41:50,479 Speaker 1: It's five oh eight. I'll text you that later. Thanks Ben, 2080 01:41:51,360 --> 01:41:54,360 Speaker 1: good bye. There he is Spencer Miller with us here 2081 01:41:54,400 --> 01:41:57,360 Speaker 1: on the Anakin Florian podcast. Always just right there. I mean, 2082 01:41:57,400 --> 01:42:01,360 Speaker 1: this dude will call me and within ten seconds just 2083 01:42:01,439 --> 01:42:04,920 Speaker 1: takes a shot and I'm crying right, you know, because 2084 01:42:04,920 --> 01:42:06,720 Speaker 1: I take a lot of shots, right. I love when 2085 01:42:06,760 --> 01:42:09,960 Speaker 1: people take shots in me. So this last thing sort 2086 01:42:09,960 --> 01:42:11,880 Speaker 1: of in closing today is a little bit self serving, 2087 01:42:11,920 --> 01:42:14,519 Speaker 1: but for the first time in thirteen years of doing this, 2088 01:42:15,040 --> 01:42:17,360 Speaker 1: after a UFC champion won a fight, he sent me 2089 01:42:17,680 --> 01:42:20,439 Speaker 1: I got a private message from somebody who won a championship. Now, 2090 01:42:20,439 --> 01:42:22,320 Speaker 1: I have had a lot of communication with fighters over 2091 01:42:22,360 --> 01:42:24,439 Speaker 1: the years, but I can never call an instance where 2092 01:42:24,479 --> 01:42:27,360 Speaker 1: I get a message from somebody who won a championship. 2093 01:42:27,400 --> 01:42:30,840 Speaker 1: So this is Tom Aspinall on Wednesday after the pay 2094 01:42:30,920 --> 01:42:32,920 Speaker 1: per view, Hey, John, just want to say thanks for 2095 01:42:32,960 --> 01:42:34,960 Speaker 1: the great work this weekend and representing US fighters in 2096 01:42:35,000 --> 01:42:37,559 Speaker 1: the correct light. Your commentary work and reaction to my 2097 01:42:37,640 --> 01:42:40,519 Speaker 1: win was simply incredible. Keep doing your thing, brother speaks soon. 2098 01:42:40,920 --> 01:42:44,240 Speaker 1: Now that text for me, I'm only sharing it with 2099 01:42:44,240 --> 01:42:47,439 Speaker 1: the Anaconflorman podcast audience because candidly it's a smaller audience 2100 01:42:47,479 --> 01:42:49,559 Speaker 1: than on Instagram, are out there on social media. I'm 2101 01:42:49,600 --> 01:42:52,040 Speaker 1: sharing it here, Kenny, because like, that's all I'm trying 2102 01:42:52,080 --> 01:42:54,160 Speaker 1: to do. Right, Like that's worth more than one hundred 2103 01:42:54,200 --> 01:42:57,200 Speaker 1: thousand dollars for me. Right is that a champion goes home, 2104 01:42:57,560 --> 01:42:59,680 Speaker 1: and even that champion who maybe didn't like that, I 2105 01:42:59,760 --> 01:43:02,720 Speaker 1: can coined him the honey badger or had gotten to 2106 01:43:02,720 --> 01:43:05,720 Speaker 1: that point, right, like that overall when he's looking back 2107 01:43:05,720 --> 01:43:07,960 Speaker 1: at the totality of that week, that the commentators are 2108 01:43:07,960 --> 01:43:10,040 Speaker 1: trying to put him forward in the best possible light. 2109 01:43:10,080 --> 01:43:12,640 Speaker 1: And I'd imagine my broadcast partner's got a similar message, right, 2110 01:43:12,640 --> 01:43:15,120 Speaker 1: But like that is all we're trying to do. And 2111 01:43:15,680 --> 01:43:18,560 Speaker 1: you know, because we're so embedded, we were able to 2112 01:43:18,600 --> 01:43:20,600 Speaker 1: get Andy Aspinall's name in the fight, even though the 2113 01:43:20,640 --> 01:43:22,680 Speaker 1: fight was only sixty nine seconds, because we knew that 2114 01:43:22,760 --> 01:43:24,360 Speaker 1: was the rub and that was the most important thing 2115 01:43:24,400 --> 01:43:26,479 Speaker 1: for Tom. And I think maybe he's sending that message 2116 01:43:26,479 --> 01:43:29,080 Speaker 1: because we were able to, you know, put some shine 2117 01:43:29,120 --> 01:43:30,920 Speaker 1: on his father. But I just wanted to thank Tom 2118 01:43:30,960 --> 01:43:33,000 Speaker 1: for that publicly because for me, Kenny, it's like there's 2119 01:43:33,040 --> 01:43:36,200 Speaker 1: nothing like that, right, Like we're trying so hard, almost 2120 01:43:36,200 --> 01:43:38,759 Speaker 1: too hard. Right, You're in the same boat to provide 2121 01:43:38,800 --> 01:43:41,920 Speaker 1: the great soundtrack for these historical moments of their lives, 2122 01:43:41,920 --> 01:43:44,959 Speaker 1: and it doesn't always go as planned, it never goes perfectly. 2123 01:43:45,040 --> 01:43:47,760 Speaker 1: But I don't know, Man, getting that message like was 2124 01:43:47,800 --> 01:43:48,920 Speaker 1: super overwhelming for me. 2125 01:43:49,000 --> 01:43:51,120 Speaker 4: That's also no question about it, dude. I Mean, these 2126 01:43:51,200 --> 01:43:53,680 Speaker 4: guys work so hard, These are the the most some 2127 01:43:53,680 --> 01:43:56,840 Speaker 4: of the most important moments of their life and to 2128 01:43:56,920 --> 01:44:00,120 Speaker 4: get that level of feedback and to feel, you know, 2129 01:44:00,200 --> 01:44:03,559 Speaker 4: fulfilled by someone who is giving the narrative of their 2130 01:44:03,600 --> 01:44:06,800 Speaker 4: fights and giving the people who are watching that level 2131 01:44:06,800 --> 01:44:10,320 Speaker 4: of information and that background, that context. All that stuff 2132 01:44:10,400 --> 01:44:13,240 Speaker 4: is so important, dude. But yeah, man, that's that's why 2133 01:44:13,240 --> 01:44:13,880 Speaker 4: you're the best. 2134 01:44:14,200 --> 01:44:17,160 Speaker 1: That's why Tommy Aspinall's a world champion because he's a 2135 01:44:17,240 --> 01:44:19,000 Speaker 1: total package. All right, that's going to do it for 2136 01:44:19,000 --> 01:44:23,040 Speaker 1: this four hundred and fiftieth edition of the Anakin Florian Podcast. 2137 01:44:23,080 --> 01:44:25,800 Speaker 1: Don't forget to check out ken Flow PFL live on 2138 01:44:26,000 --> 01:44:28,600 Speaker 1: ESPN plus pay per view, that is this Friday night, 2139 01:44:28,680 --> 01:44:31,640 Speaker 1: November twenty fourth, from The Anthem in Washington, d C. 2140 01:44:31,800 --> 01:44:34,800 Speaker 1: Kenny doesn't like photos though, so I don't know how 2141 01:44:34,840 --> 01:44:37,599 Speaker 1: you guys want to navigate that.
