The plan is only for one professional sports 0:14:17.840 --> 0:14:20.440 team to be on that plot of land. So that's 0:14:20.480 --> 0:14:23.920 why efforts are starting to look across the river. Speaking 0:14:23.960 --> 0:14:27.440 to sources within the White Sox, Jerry Reinsdorf is warming 0:14:27.520 --> 0:14:30.600 up to this idea of the White Sox a new 0:14:30.600 --> 0:14:34.160 White Sox Stadium being part of this master plan that 0:14:34.280 --> 0:14:37.760 Justin Ishbia is trying to implement by having an agreement 0:14:37.840 --> 0:14:41.840 to buy the land from Antrak. That is the key phrasing. 0:14:42.360 --> 0:14:46.280 It's it's an agreement, but that purchase has not been 0:14:46.320 --> 0:14:49.680 finalized yet between Amtrak and Justin Ishbia. But the plan 0:14:49.840 --> 0:14:54.000 is since the reporting from Crane's Business journal in the 0:14:54.080 --> 0:14:58.360 Chicago area back in March that Ishbia is going to 0:14:58.400 --> 0:15:01.960 be buying this land and from Amtrak. That's why Amtrak 0:15:02.040 --> 0:15:03.840 needs to move to Bridgeport. They have to get out 0:15:03.840 --> 0:15:06.360 of the neighborhood. They have to move out. Ishbia's buying 0:15:06.400 --> 0:15:09.440 it and repurposing it. So for those that are watching 0:15:09.520 --> 0:15:12.880 on YouTube, that is the Navy blue section that Justin 0:15:13.000 --> 0:15:15.360 Ishbia is buying. It's the closest part of the land, 0:15:15.360 --> 0:15:20.320 about forty seven acres near the river. Amtrak also shares 0:15:20.480 --> 0:15:24.200 this square of Chicago land with BNSF, which is a 0:15:24.200 --> 0:15:29.760 completely different rail line, and according to Crane's reporting last week, 0:15:30.160 --> 0:15:34.120 Justin Ishbia and BNSF are negotiating for Ishbia to buy 0:15:34.720 --> 0:15:38.640 that part of the rail lot as well as BNSF 0:15:39.000 --> 0:15:42.400 can move out of that area, and that opens up 0:15:42.440 --> 0:15:45.560 another twenty acres for Justin Ishbia. So this could be 0:15:45.600 --> 0:15:50.000 about sixty seven acres of area that Ishbia and his 0:15:51.120 --> 0:15:53.560 many companies. It sounds like that he's going to be 0:15:53.640 --> 0:15:57.560 starting to help with this project Jim can build whatever 0:15:57.840 --> 0:16:01.680 entertainment district that he wants in this area. So that 0:16:01.960 --> 0:16:04.640 is the south Loop plan for the White Sox. That's 0:16:04.680 --> 0:16:08.080 why Amtrak needs to move to Bridgeport because they have 0:16:08.120 --> 0:16:12.440 to move somewhere. And that rail yard that Union Pacific 0:16:12.520 --> 0:16:15.360 currently owns but has an agreement with Amtrak to sell 0:16:15.400 --> 0:16:19.240 to Amtrak, they have not been using that near Raitefield 0:16:19.440 --> 0:16:23.960 and in the middle of Bridgeport since twenty nineteen. So 0:16:24.400 --> 0:16:27.240 Amtrak looks like this is a great opportunity for them 0:16:27.800 --> 0:16:34.640 to radically improve their maintenance capabilities, which they pitch benefits 0:16:34.720 --> 0:16:41.240 not only Chicago for commercial and business rail purposes, but 0:16:41.480 --> 0:16:46.320 also throughout the entire Midwest.
