We also saw in 0:01:06.120 --> 0:01:14.720 twenty twenty our own president at that time, Donald Trump, 0:01:16.640 --> 0:01:22.840 use the Asian community as his battering ram, referring to 0:01:23.000 --> 0:01:27.360 COVID nineteen as an ethnic slur as a way to 0:01:27.480 --> 0:01:32.840 defer responsibility for his ineptitude in taking action against COVID 0:01:32.920 --> 0:01:37.120 nineteen when at first set its sights on the United 0:01:37.200 --> 0:01:43.760 States and instead would blame Asian Americans for the fact 0:01:43.800 --> 0:01:48.840 that COVID nineteen would reach our shores. During this time, 0:01:48.880 --> 0:01:55.720 we would see an absolute and intense rise in hate 0:01:55.800 --> 0:02:01.160 crimes against the Asian population here so much so that 0:02:01.280 --> 0:02:08.600 there was a hashtag created Stop Asian Hate, so much 0:02:08.680 --> 0:02:15.560 so that legislation was created to acknowledge the rise in 0:02:15.680 --> 0:02:23.959 Asian hate. Then we would experience in twenty twenty one, 0:02:24.040 --> 0:02:28.919 a continuation of the violence against Black Americans which we 0:02:28.960 --> 0:02:33.040 have been experiencing since we were shackled and brought to 0:02:33.120 --> 0:02:40.400 this country. We would continue to see the hatred lauded 0:02:40.480 --> 0:02:46.959 against the Latin X community, against undocumented immigrants, against Asians, 0:02:47.000 --> 0:02:50.720 and then once again we were to return to ye 0:02:50.840 --> 0:02:58.880 old faithful, which is using Muslims as a pinata in 0:02:58.919 --> 0:03:07.360 this country, particularly by Republican members of Congress, threatening the 0:03:07.560 --> 0:03:14.440 lives of their own colleagues. You know, there was a 0:03:14.480 --> 0:03:21.799 report that was buried a decade ago that talked about 0:03:21.840 --> 0:03:26.520 the rise in white supremacy in America and the rise 0:03:27.080 --> 0:03:32.880 in hate and hate groups. It was buried because, of course, 0:03:32.960 --> 0:03:37.400 anything that mentions the word white. You know, law enforcement 0:03:37.880 --> 0:03:43.080 intelligence agencies don't like to pay attention to They'd much 0:03:43.200 --> 0:03:46.720 rather focus their people on the perceived enemy, right, which 0:03:46.760 --> 0:03:49.480 has always been people of color.
