They were hoping that they could 0:01:41.080 --> 0:01:45.520 achieve to de escalate tensions with China. They wanted to 0:01:45.560 --> 0:01:48.680 create a level playing field. They wanted to rebuild their 0:01:48.720 --> 0:01:52.520 strategic industries that have been actually hollowed out in the past. 0:01:53.200 --> 0:01:55.240 Retrade not fair trade. There a whole bunch of things 0:01:55.280 --> 0:01:58.200 that they wanted to accomplish. President Trump today said the Chinese agreed to 0:02:19.160 --> 0:02:23.400 open their economy to American products. This is something that 0:02:23.480 --> 0:02:26.639 Americans have wanted for centuries, actually, and it's something we 0:02:26.760 --> 0:02:29.680 thought we'd get with China's accession to the World Trade 0:02:29.760 --> 0:02:33.800 Organization in two thousand and one. But China's continued the 0:02:33.919 --> 0:02:38.959 theft of US intellectual property and increasingly we see China's 0:02:39.160 --> 0:02:42.839 trade policy is becoming more and more predatory. So we're 0:02:42.840 --> 0:02:47.880 going to see if the Treasury Secretary can negotiate a 0:02:48.280 --> 0:02:52.040 larger trade deal. So at the moment, US tariffs have 0:02:52.120 --> 0:02:55.239 been dropped and the Chinese have dropped tariffs as well, 0:02:55.560 --> 0:02:57.920 and it's sort of like a temporary truce. 0:03:00.000 --> 0:03:01.360 Well, you know, and you touched. 0:03:01.120 --> 0:03:04.359 On something too, because we've had a massive trade deficit 0:03:04.400 --> 0:03:07.480 where China is concerned, and it concerns me too for 0:03:07.560 --> 0:03:11.839 our manufacturing sector because there's been a decline and all 0:03:11.840 --> 0:03:14.600 they do is really fuel the offshoring of American jobs. 0:03:15.040 --> 0:03:19.240 So my hope, and I'm not sure why do I 0:03:19.280 --> 0:03:20.760 feel a little like. 0:03:21.360 --> 0:03:24.680 Cautious going forward with this because I'm not sure I 0:03:24.760 --> 0:03:27.840 trust them. I mean, isn't it in their best interest 0:03:27.919 --> 0:03:30.720 as well? I'm talking about China. The reason is the Chinese 0:03:40.120 --> 0:03:45.480 economy is fundamentally unbalanced. Consumption accounts for something like thirty 0:03:45.520 --> 0:03:49.080 eight thirty nine percent of China's gross domestic product. That 0:03:49.360 --> 0:03:53.880 is low by global standards, perhaps maybe even the lowest contribution. Now, 0:03:53.960 --> 0:03:57.880 Sijan Pain is developing a wartime economy. He wants to 0:03:58.000 --> 0:04:00.760 export his way out of problems. Of fact, that's his 0:04:00.880 --> 0:04:04.480 only solution, which means he needs the US. These protests, actually, 0:05:15.880 --> 0:05:19.080 these protests have been occurring even before Trump took the 0:05:19.560 --> 0:05:22.400 oath of office for a second term, but they've gotten 0:05:22.440 --> 0:05:26.039 worse because the tariffs have slammed China's exports sector, which 0:05:26.040 --> 0:05:29.240 has been particularly hard hit for our last year and 0:05:29.279 --> 0:05:31.880 a half. Maybe we're seeing that a lot of these 0:05:31.920 --> 0:05:35.320 factories don't have orders, but these tariffs have pushed some 0:05:35.360 --> 0:05:37.800 of these factories to the point of closure, and there 0:05:37.839 --> 0:05:40.960 are closures across China, and they're more and more worker protests. 0:05:41.000 --> 0:05:43.839 As you point out, Yeah, I mean. 0:05:43.800 --> 0:05:45.360 When you think about it, I mean, yeah, we're talking 0:05:45.360 --> 0:05:48.240 about the Communist Chinese Party, but we're also talking about 0:05:48.400 --> 0:05:51.080 real people who are also being affected by it, not 0:05:51.160 --> 0:05:54.320 because of anything we've done, obviously, but because of the 0:05:54.360 --> 0:05:55.560 way their government is run. 0:05:55.640 --> 0:05:57.320 And that breaks my heart for them. 0:05:58.400 --> 0:06:01.760 It does because the biggest victims of the Communist Party, 0:06:02.640 --> 0:06:05.000 matter of fact, and most immediate victims are of course 0:06:05.080 --> 0:06:08.080 the Chinese people, but there are a lot of other 0:06:08.160 --> 0:06:12.520 victims of the Communist Party, including American workers, because through 0:06:12.600 --> 0:06:16.839 these predatory practices, through ip theft, China has robbed the 0:06:16.880 --> 0:06:21.120 future of many Americans. When you see fentanyl, there is death. 0:06:33.920 --> 0:06:37.679 China is responsible for the fentanyl gangs. And that's also 0:06:37.720 --> 0:06:40.839 a factor that President Trump is taken into account when 0:06:40.839 --> 0:06:44.200 he set the trade policy. Because twenty percent of our 0:06:44.360 --> 0:06:48.839 thirty percent terriffs are were imposed this year because of fentanyl. 0:06:50.440 --> 0:06:52.320 That's right, and one of the things and they have, 0:06:52.480 --> 0:06:55.240 but they didn't make anything. There's nothing conclusive that came 0:06:55.279 --> 0:06:58.200 out of these talks where fentanyl is concerned.
