My community has been here for 0:45:52.880 --> 0:45:55.080 less than thirty years, but. 0:45:55.080 --> 0:45:56.520 They have made Minnesota their home. 0:45:56.640 --> 0:45:59.239 They are not everywhere you go, whether you're coming out 0:45:59.239 --> 0:46:02.239 of the airport, you're the person who's checking you in 0:46:02.400 --> 0:46:05.200 or checking you out as a Somali person. That your 0:46:05.280 --> 0:46:07.359 Uber driver is a Somali person. When you take your 0:46:07.400 --> 0:46:11.040 mother to a nursing home or it's our final days, 0:46:11.120 --> 0:46:13.440 the person who's taking care of them is a Somali person. 0:46:16.000 --> 0:46:18.640 The thing I learned in the last five years from 0:46:18.719 --> 0:46:22.080 Minnesota since the murder of George Floyd is just how 0:46:22.120 --> 0:46:25.200 resilient Minnesotans are and how much we're a fabric of 0:46:25.239 --> 0:46:29.440 this community. So many of the people who are on 0:46:29.480 --> 0:46:32.080 the ground that are protesting what's happening are also speaking 0:46:32.280 --> 0:46:35.960 about the frustrations that they're feeling about what people are 0:46:35.960 --> 0:46:39.040 saying about their Somali neighbors.
