Like, 0:00:32.960 --> 0:00:35.160 do you, are you asleep on me? Like, are you 0:00:35.200 --> 0:00:38.400 asleep right now? Are you asleep right now? Like I 0:00:38.460 --> 0:00:39.180 am dying. 0:00:39.960 --> 0:00:43.000 And I think that that's a normal emotion that we 0:00:43.040 --> 0:00:47.520 can feel. And I just want us to remember, 0:00:57.690 --> 0:01:00.170 like kind of have this thought in our minds as 0:01:00.230 --> 0:01:03.900 we look at the scripture together today, that 90% of 0:01:03.980 --> 0:01:08.620 warfare is perspective. That 90% of the warfare we go 0:01:08.700 --> 0:01:15.400 through is perspective. So Mark chapter 4, verse 35, it reads, 0:01:15.520 --> 0:01:18.850 and I'm in the New Living Translation. 0:01:20.510 --> 0:01:21.030 So here we go. 0:01:21.890 --> 0:01:25.720 As evening came, Jesus said to his disciples, let's cross 0:01:25.959 --> 0:01:28.759 over to the other side of the lake. 0:01:29.540 --> 0:01:30.560 So they took. 0:01:30.380 --> 0:01:33.580 Jesus in the boat and started out, leaving the crowds behind, 0:01:33.680 --> 0:01:37.930 although other boats did follow them. But as soon as 0:01:37.990 --> 0:01:41.309 soon a fierce storm came up, high waves were breaking 0:01:41.350 --> 0:01:43.890 into the boat and it began to fill with water. 0:01:44.530 --> 0:01:48.030 Jesus was asleep in the back of the boat with 0:01:48.070 --> 0:01:52.450 his head on a cushion. The disciples woke him up shouting, teacher, 0:01:52.720 --> 0:01:55.920 don't you care that we're going to drown? When Jesus 0:01:55.980 --> 0:01:59.700 woke up, he rebuked the wind and he said to 0:01:59.740 --> 0:02:05.380 the waves, silence, be still. Suddenly the wind stopped and 0:02:05.400 --> 0:02:09.270 there was great calm. Then he asked them, why are 0:02:09.310 --> 0:02:13.010 you afraid? Do you still have no faith? The disciples 0:02:13.070 --> 0:02:16.250 were absolutely terrified. Who is this man? They asked each other. 0:02:16.870 --> 0:02:21.340 Even the winds and the waves obey him. So let's 0:02:21.380 --> 0:02:24.840 talk about this today. Let's talk about 90% of the 0:02:24.919 --> 0:02:29.870 warfare we're experiencing is perspective. Here the disciples are and 0:02:29.910 --> 0:02:33.269 they're in the boat with Jesus. They have seen his authority, 0:02:33.350 --> 0:02:38.350 his miracle working power, and they are shouting at him 0:02:38.370 --> 0:02:41.109 to wake him up saying, don't you care that we're 0:02:41.130 --> 0:02:45.270 going to drown? And, you know, this is true that 0:02:45.370 --> 0:02:49.030 what we focus on, what we see is, becomes reality, 0:02:49.210 --> 0:02:52.390 that what we focus on is amplified in our lives. 0:02:52.990 --> 0:02:55.010 And it's true for our spiritual life as well. When 0:02:55.030 --> 0:02:59.960 we magnify what our fears are creating or what the 0:03:00.000 --> 0:03:04.399 devil is doing, we see him bigger than our God. 0:03:04.440 --> 0:03:07.940 And that's not the truth of the story. It's kind 0:03:07.980 --> 0:03:10.739 of like when you look in the rear view mirror, 0:03:10.760 --> 0:03:12.959 the side view mirror, and it has that little wording 0:03:13.040 --> 0:03:17.950 on there, right? Like things may not appear true, is 0:03:17.990 --> 0:03:21.290 what it's telling us. They were so consumed 0:04:33.880 --> 0:04:37.400 by the water crashing in, by the waves, by what 0:04:37.440 --> 0:04:40.719 was happening to the boat. Probably the Bible says that 0:04:40.800 --> 0:04:43.320 other boats followed them. So maybe they could no longer 0:04:43.380 --> 0:04:45.590 see the boats that were behind them. Maybe they were 0:04:45.610 --> 0:04:49.030 just looking at all of the crashing waves. But Jesus, 0:04:49.510 --> 0:04:55.470 he cares. He cares. Regardless of his silence in this moment, 0:04:55.950 --> 0:04:59.370 he cares for you with an incredible love, with an 0:04:59.589 --> 0:05:04.850 everlasting love. And so take note. This wasn't just any 0:05:04.930 --> 0:05:08.120 type of storm. This wasn't just bad weather. They had 0:05:09.150 --> 0:05:12.360 handled bad weather before. I don't know about you, but 0:05:12.440 --> 0:05:18.430 like these 2020s, child, listen, it's been crazy. And it's 0:05:18.470 --> 0:05:20.890 not like I haven't been through hard times before. It's 0:05:20.910 --> 0:05:23.430 not like I haven't been through challenges before. It's not 0:05:23.450 --> 0:05:26.740 like I haven't been overwhelmed in the past. And it's 0:05:26.779 --> 0:05:30.540 not like I've never felt outmatched by life circumstances. Is he still available? As soon as he woke up, 0:05:58.890 --> 0:06:03.870 he spoke, he rebuked the winds, And he told the 0:06:03.970 --> 0:06:05.190 waves to be quiet. 0:06:05.350 --> 0:06:06.529 He spoke to the waves. 0:06:06.970 --> 0:06:11.110 And so Jesus is showing us, even as believers, as disciples, 0:06:11.560 --> 0:06:15.020 how to move in our authority when he was awakened, 0:06:15.060 --> 0:06:17.860 when he came to attention. And so today, right now, 0:06:18.060 --> 0:06:20.220 I believe this is a wake up call for you 0:06:21.640 --> 0:06:24.040 not to be consumed. with the things that are going 0:06:24.060 --> 0:06:26.120 to be taking you out, the things that you think 0:06:26.170 --> 0:06:29.789 that are formed against you that will succeed and cause demise. And everything responded to the 0:06:49.290 --> 0:06:54.500 authority of God. And Jesus asked them, why are you afraid? 0:06:54.520 --> 0:06:59.570 Do you still have no faith? And I wonder here, 0:06:59.850 --> 0:07:04.640 like what the fear was rooted in, because they were afraid, 0:07:04.760 --> 0:07:08.400 but they had a deep awe and reverence. that the 0:07:08.520 --> 0:07:11.620 Lord God Almighty, the Son of God was with them. 0:07:12.140 --> 0:07:18.240 And they were captivated by his authority. Even the winds 0:07:18.300 --> 0:07:22.320 and the waves obey him. Well, maybe in this storm 0:07:22.360 --> 0:07:24.900 that you're in right now, you're about to have a 0:07:24.960 --> 0:07:29.050 power perspective. You're going to have a shift in perspective 0:07:29.130 --> 0:07:32.790 that what you thought was going to take you out, 0:07:32.990 --> 0:07:37.960 actually God has authority over you. And that you're going 0:07:38.000 --> 0:07:42.420 to see him with fresh eyes and fresh perspective, just 0:07:42.480 --> 0:07:45.260 as the disciples did in this moment. That even, I 0:07:45.500 --> 0:07:48.780 don't know what you're struggling with today, but that the 0:07:48.840 --> 0:07:52.500 name of Jesus has authority over it. That even what's 0:07:52.560 --> 0:07:56.730 come against you, what's sought harm, even... all of the 0:07:56.790 --> 0:08:00.510 things that come as accusations against us, that even the 0:08:00.590 --> 0:08:03.880 name of Jesus, that these things must bow, they must 0:08:03.940 --> 0:08:06.480 come to nothing, that the attack of the enemy must 0:08:06.580 --> 0:08:11.440 fall because we stand in the authority of Jesus Christ. 0:08:11.460 --> 0:08:12.720 This is so powerful. 0:08:13.320 --> 0:08:15.220 And so I want to talk to you a little 0:08:15.240 --> 0:08:19.090 bit more about the fact that not only can Jesus 0:08:19.150 --> 0:08:21.110 see you in the storm that you're facing today, he 0:08:21.150 --> 0:08:24.810 can also call you into a deeper place through this storm. 0:08:24.880 --> 0:08:27.489 And that's what happened for them, right? Maybe they thought, okay, we're with the Lord. 0:08:40.400 --> 0:08:42.500 It's no big deal. I don't know how they felt 0:08:42.580 --> 0:08:49.790 that day. But trials have a way in life. And oftentimes, I believe that the Lord will 0:09:15.700 --> 0:09:18.140 use storms and challenges in our life to call forth 0:09:18.220 --> 0:09:20.850 things that we don't need, that don't serve us, but 0:09:20.910 --> 0:09:24.570 he'll also infuse us with things that we need. And 0:09:24.630 --> 0:09:27.370 I believe in this story, we're able to see the 0:09:27.490 --> 0:09:31.130 power of the spoken word of God, the command of God, 0:09:31.170 --> 0:09:35.609 but also the rebuke of God, that the enemy has 0:09:35.650 --> 0:09:40.060 to back off when the Lord rebukes him. When the 0:09:40.140 --> 0:09:44.260 Lord rebukes him saying, get back, fall away, step back, 0:09:45.130 --> 0:09:48.210 get out of here, that he has to respond to 0:09:48.250 --> 0:09:51.620 the authority of Christ, that he has to respond to 0:09:51.640 --> 0:09:55.300 the authority of Jesus Christ. David in Psalm 42, 5, 0:10:35.970 --> 0:10:44.089 he found strength by encouraging himself. And so oftentimes, you know, 0:10:44.210 --> 0:10:48.790 now the Father has given us the Holy Spirit. And 0:10:48.850 --> 0:10:53.640 so the Holy Spirit, will hover over us and we 0:10:53.820 --> 0:10:59.199 brood over us, cause us to remember things, teach us truths. 0:10:59.920 --> 0:11:03.179 And David, this is what I love about David. He 0:11:03.220 --> 0:11:05.600 just poured out his soul to the Lord. And so 0:11:05.660 --> 0:11:09.340 Psalm 42 verse five says, why are you downcast? Oh 0:11:09.400 --> 0:11:14.080 my soul, why are you disquieted within me? Hope in 0:11:14.160 --> 0:11:19.059 God for I will yet praise him for the help 0:11:19.670 --> 0:11:22.610 of his countenance. And so I just want to encourage 0:11:22.650 --> 0:11:27.430 you today that you are not forgotten. But God knows he has manifold wisdom and 0:14:23.480 --> 0:14:27.440 power and we must worship him for both, right? Let's look at Psalm 0:17:27.960 --> 0:17:31.800 121 verse 1 really quick, because this is just a 0:17:31.859 --> 0:17:35.100 time of affirmation. I feel like the Father is just 0:17:35.200 --> 0:17:39.710 affirming you today in his love for you. And it says, 0:17:39.910 --> 0:17:42.770 I will lift my eyes to the hills. From where 0:17:43.350 --> 0:17:46.109 comes my help? My help comes from the Lord who 0:17:46.150 --> 0:17:49.800 made the heaven and earth. And so the psalmist's question is, 0:17:49.830 --> 0:17:52.820 where does my help come from? And we know that 0:17:52.859 --> 0:17:56.360 the help that we need comes from the Lord.
