And then I saw the 0:02:28.360 --> 0:02:30.880 video and you have all of these students with their 0:02:30.919 --> 0:02:33.520 parents loading up as if it was moving day. This 0:02:33.600 --> 0:02:37.360 is the Tennessee Rehabilitation Center in Smyrna, and from my understanding, 0:02:37.600 --> 0:02:41.000 this is the only state run facility of its kind 0:02:41.040 --> 0:02:43.840 here in Tennessee. It's hard to tell from the video, 0:02:44.040 --> 0:02:47.360 but people who were there that day called and told 0:02:47.360 --> 0:02:49.480 me that some of these students were in tears. So 0:02:49.560 --> 0:02:51.640 think about that for a second. These are students with 0:02:51.760 --> 0:02:54.520 special needs. Some of them have a disability, some of 0:02:54.560 --> 0:02:58.680 them are visually impaired. This facility was intended to help 0:02:58.919 --> 0:03:02.560 students learn learn the vocational skills they need to get jobs. 0:03:02.639 --> 0:03:04.560 The skills they're learning is not just about how to 0:03:04.560 --> 0:03:07.880 work a register. Now, I don't know the exact numbers of 0:03:43.560 --> 0:03:46.520 how many students this is impacted, but I do know 0:03:46.600 --> 0:03:49.560 that as you're watching this right now, some of them 0:03:49.560 --> 0:03:52.480 are still moving out and their parents are trying to 0:03:52.520 --> 0:03:54.800 find answers. The students are trying to find answers. We're 0:03:54.800 --> 0:03:57.440 trying to find answers. I sent an email to DHS 0:03:57.480 --> 0:03:59.880 to ask them, like, how does a state run facility 0:04:00.120 --> 0:04:02.720 rely so much on federal funding that they have to 0:04:02.800 --> 0:04:06.280 force students off campus when the government shutdown. We're talking about kids with special needs who 0:04:52.400 --> 0:04:57.200 are being moved out of their housing facility learning particularized 0:04:57.240 --> 0:05:01.760 skills in Smyrna in Tennessee, and as the reporter said, 0:05:01.800 --> 0:05:05.320 the only state run facility of its kind in Tennessee. 0:05:06.040 --> 0:05:09.159 I want to go next to people who folks on 0:05:09.200 --> 0:05:14.320 the other side normally say they represent, they respect, they honor, 0:05:14.800 --> 0:05:18.920 they uphold. There's an influx of folks who 0:07:04.360 --> 0:07:08.960 need this type of support, and gratefully, citizens all over 0:07:09.000 --> 0:07:11.920 the country are filling the gap, But should they be 0:07:12.000 --> 0:07:15.160 filling the gap for the military too? Should that be 0:07:15.280 --> 0:07:18.600 what's required of us in this moment? Or should Congress 0:07:18.640 --> 0:07:20.600 do what it's supposed to do, and should the president 0:07:20.960 --> 0:07:24.920 require that the military families are taken care of. That's 0:07:24.920 --> 0:07:27.640 certainly what you would see in an ordinary democracy. But what 0:07:56.760 --> 0:07:57.600 about healthcare? 0:07:58.600 --> 0:08:02.120 So, folks, this is what the current fight is all about. 0:08:03.080 --> 0:08:06.200 Nobody wants to shut down, at least I don't. But what I also don't 0:08:09.080 --> 0:08:12.800 want is for people in Georgia that I represent to 0:08:12.920 --> 0:08:16.280 lose their health care because it's simply unaffordable. In twenty twenty five, this 0:08:19.800 --> 0:08:22.240 family of four in Chatham County, where I grew up, 0:08:23.040 --> 0:08:26.280 paid five hundred and fifty nine dollars and sixty nine 0:08:26.320 --> 0:08:31.720 cents per month for the lowest cost option. That's the 0:08:31.760 --> 0:08:35.400 lowest cost family for five hundred and fifty nine dollars 0:08:35.440 --> 0:08:37.920 sixty nine cents a month. Now look at this. After the House and Sidate passed it much 0:10:02.800 --> 0:10:05.560 objection in the House, but it was passed no less. 0:10:06.200 --> 0:10:09.439 And part of what happens in that bill is you're 0:10:09.600 --> 0:10:13.800 robbing Peter to pay Paul. You may 0:11:05.440 --> 0:11:08.240 not call it Obamacare, you may not call it the 0:11:08.280 --> 0:11:12.760 Affordable Care Act, but these are the state exchanges that 0:11:12.800 --> 0:11:18.160 we've relied upon that we're codified in the Affordable Care Act. Now, 0:11:18.240 --> 0:11:21.120 because they've worked so hard to try to dismantle a 0:11:21.240 --> 0:11:26.239 key piece of President Obama's legacy, a key piece of legislation, 0:11:26.559 --> 0:11:30.600 and a key law that has made healthcare access more 0:11:30.640 --> 0:11:34.400 attainable to American families and to the American people, they 0:11:34.559 --> 0:11:37.600 work so hard to dismantle that that they will put 0:11:37.640 --> 0:11:42.040 you in a position where you are directly in harm's way. I have a doctor, 0:11:55.320 --> 0:11:58.920 I have concierge medicine. It's because 0:12:38.120 --> 0:12:40.960 of the measure that was passed in July, and it 0:12:41.040 --> 0:12:47.079 needs to be funded through this particular continuing resolution.
