For comparison, in twenty twenty two, 0:01:43.400 --> 0:01:46.440 which was the deadliest year in the West Bank in decades, 0:01:46.800 --> 0:01:51.400 forty eight Palestinians were killed in the combined months of January, February, 0:01:51.520 --> 0:01:56.120 March and April. The deaths are increasing day by day, 0:01:56.320 --> 0:01:57.880 and there is a scene to be a stop to 0:01:57.920 --> 0:02:01.160 them at all. These islands are under total or 0:03:20.280 --> 0:03:24.440 partial civil administration by the Palestinian National Authority or the 0:03:24.520 --> 0:03:28.160 PNA or PA. There are also two hundred and thirty 0:03:28.240 --> 0:03:32.920 Israeli settlements into which Israel law is being pipelined. And again that is because I am focusing 0:05:15.200 --> 0:05:18.359 particularly on the West Bank. I want to talk about 0:05:18.400 --> 0:05:21.359 Israel's twelve month crackdown that has been happening in the 0:05:21.400 --> 0:05:25.239 West Bank. Nearly twelve months ago, Israel begana has become 0:05:25.279 --> 0:05:29.000 a year long violent crackdown in the West Bank. Israel 0:05:29.120 --> 0:05:32.800 last year prompted a sweeping Israeli military campaign that they 0:05:32.880 --> 0:05:37.080 called Operation Breakwater beginning March of two and twenty two. 0:05:37.839 --> 0:05:41.760 It was created after attacks occurred by Palestinians against Israeli 0:05:41.760 --> 0:05:47.440 settlers Since then, Operation Breakwater has conducted nearly nightly IDF 0:05:47.520 --> 0:05:50.680 raids in the West Bank, which of course causes heightened 0:05:50.720 --> 0:05:54.800 friction between the IDF and the Palestinian population. So far, 0:05:55.040 --> 0:05:59.840 Israeli security forces have made over two thousand arrests, and 0:06:00.120 --> 0:06:02.720 that's way too big of a number, just to give 0:06:02.760 --> 0:06:05.520 you an idea of the terrifying scale of this operation. 0:06:05.880 --> 0:06:09.560 Operation Breakwater is the biggest IDF operation in the West 0:06:09.600 --> 0:06:12.919 Bank since the Second Instifaba that I mentioned earlier that 0:06:13.000 --> 0:06:16.720 lasted from two thousand to two thousand and five. Since 0:06:16.760 --> 0:06:20.120 the start of this operation last year, nearly every day 0:06:20.400 --> 0:06:23.159 Israel has conducted raids in the West Bank, which is 0:06:23.200 --> 0:06:27.000 part of the Palestinian territory which encompasses the Gothas Strip 0:06:27.040 --> 0:06:30.080 in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem. And this whole 0:06:30.200 --> 0:06:33.720 territory has been illegally occupied by Israel since nineteen sixty seven. 0:06:34.360 --> 0:06:37.600 In spite of this, because Israel does whatever the fuck 0:06:37.640 --> 0:06:40.719 it wants, because it's already founded upon existing illegally in 0:06:40.760 --> 0:06:44.320 the first place, thousands of Palestinians, many of them young, 0:06:44.520 --> 0:06:48.440 have been arrested, and nearly every week more Palestinians are 0:06:48.480 --> 0:06:52.360 being killed. Last year, this all resulted in the highest 0:06:52.440 --> 0:06:55.080 cumulative death toll in the West Bank since two thousand 0:06:55.080 --> 0:06:59.200 and four. Palestinian rights groups and UN experts have said 0:06:59.240 --> 0:07:01.800 that the bloodshed is due to Israel's excessive use of 0:07:01.839 --> 0:07:05.719 force and open fire rules during near daily military operations, 0:07:05.960 --> 0:07:08.680 as well as rising assaults by settlers in the West Bank, 0:07:09.000 --> 0:07:13.960 where again Palestinians are living under illegal Israeli occupation. Israel 0:07:14.080 --> 0:07:17.400 justified their intensifying violence because of the fatal attacks on 0:07:17.520 --> 0:07:21.920 Israelis by Palestinian militants, which also spiked last year, which 0:07:21.960 --> 0:07:25.200 is also very bad. But blaming the people you've been 0:07:25.200 --> 0:07:29.200 oppressing for nearly a century for being angry and fighting 0:07:29.240 --> 0:07:32.480 back people without an army faced against one of the 0:07:32.520 --> 0:07:35.600 most powerful armies in the world, it just does not 0:07:35.800 --> 0:07:39.600 sit right with me. In twenty twenty two, Israeli security 0:07:39.600 --> 0:07:43.119 forces killed at least one hundred and fifty two Palestinians 0:07:43.120 --> 0:07:47.400 in the West Bank and predominantly Palestinian East Jerusalem, compared 0:07:47.440 --> 0:07:50.920 with seventy five Palestinians in twenty twenty one. These are 0:07:50.920 --> 0:07:53.920 figures provided by the UN Office for the Coordination of 0:07:54.000 --> 0:07:58.360 Humanitarian Affairs or OTCHA. Four Palestinians in the West Bank 0:07:58.400 --> 0:08:03.920 were killed by Israeli settlers, not soldiers. Settlers, settlers that 0:08:03.960 --> 0:08:06.880 have been emboldened and even encouraged in their hate and 0:08:07.040 --> 0:08:10.760 violence by the Israeli far right, and the Israeli far 0:08:10.880 --> 0:08:14.400 right is basically the Israeli government at this point. Among those 0:08:52.720 --> 0:08:56.560 killed last year were also US citizens El Jazeero, journalists 0:08:56.559 --> 0:09:01.120 Sharina Buakle, and seventy eight year old Omaas and because 0:09:01.200 --> 0:09:05.400 of their US citizenship, their deaths gained rare worldwide attention 0:09:05.520 --> 0:09:10.120 and briefly sharpened international criticism of Israel.
