I created the first 0:08:54.920 --> 0:08:57.640 conviction integrity unit in the entire state of Maryland where 0:08:57.640 --> 0:09:01.080 we did reinvestigations into claims of actual and I also 0:09:01.200 --> 0:09:05.280 had a sentencing review unit where we modified and reduced 0:09:05.280 --> 0:09:08.800 the sentences of juvenile lifers and the elderly prison population, 0:09:08.920 --> 0:09:13.440 where we released more than sixty individuals by modifying their sentence. 0:09:14.240 --> 0:09:18.400 I had an individual attorney that actually was a senior 0:09:18.440 --> 0:09:22.040 attorney at the Public Defender's Office, Becky Feldman, who came 0:09:22.120 --> 0:09:27.319 over and worked my sentencing review unit, and under her leadership, 0:09:27.760 --> 0:09:31.160 she actually reviewed the ad Non Sayid case. We investigated the case and ultimately made a 0:09:49.160 --> 0:09:54.000 recommendation to vacate the conviction of ad Non said and rightfully, 0:09:54.080 --> 0:09:57.840 so we would argue, as you are aware, prosecutors, we 0:09:57.880 --> 0:10:02.600 exercised our discretion every single day, right, and thousands of cases, 0:10:03.480 --> 0:10:06.520 and this particular case is a high profile case. Unfortunately, he took 0:10:36.000 --> 0:10:37.960 advantage of the of the fact that I had this 0:10:38.320 --> 0:10:43.600 bogus investigation and looming criminal case hanging over me. He 0:10:43.640 --> 0:10:46.360 had run against me before and lost, but this time around, 0:10:46.400 --> 0:10:50.240 he won, and he ran on a platform of pretty 0:10:50.320 --> 0:10:53.199 much reversing everything that I had done in my office, 0:10:53.280 --> 0:10:57.400 progressive related and he did just that. So, now, when 0:10:57.480 --> 0:11:00.240 you ask why would someone do something like that, well 0:11:00.280 --> 0:11:03.200 he was, you know of the Fox forty five who 0:11:03.280 --> 0:11:06.120 was a local sort of fox station put two hundred 0:11:06.160 --> 0:11:09.719 thousand dollars into my race to support him, right, And 0:11:09.760 --> 0:11:12.920 so why would he do that. He carries the weight 0:11:13.040 --> 0:11:16.880 of the status quo. And so unfortunately the people of 0:11:16.960 --> 0:11:20.760 Baltimore voted for this man, and just like Trump, they 0:11:20.840 --> 0:11:23.560 voted against their own self interest.
