Two years earlier. 0:05:45.960 --> 0:05:49.160 Smollette was found guilty for faking a racist and homophobic 0:05:49.240 --> 0:05:52.200 attack he actually did it to himself, and then lying 0:05:52.240 --> 0:05:53.599 to police about how it happened. 0:05:54.040 --> 0:05:57.200 Initially the charges were first brought against him, the state's 0:05:57.279 --> 0:06:02.080 attorney agreed to dismiss the charges if Smollette paid a 0:06:02.160 --> 0:06:05.960 ten thousand dollars fine and did community service. That was 0:06:06.080 --> 0:06:08.680 the deal. Okay, this was supposed to be over.
