Inside this is the 0:08:46.840 --> 0:08:50.120 New York Times piece Inside a battle over race, class 0:08:50.160 --> 0:08:53.480 and power at Smith, a student said she was racially 0:08:53.520 --> 0:08:57.880 profiled while eating in a college dorm. An investigation found 0:08:58.120 --> 0:09:01.200 no evidence of bias, but the evidence, but the incident 0:09:01.240 --> 0:09:05.120 will not fade away. That headline gives you a pretty 0:09:05.120 --> 0:09:10.360 good overview of what happened at Smith College. But here's 0:09:10.400 --> 0:09:14.440 a shorter, better version of it. A black female student 0:09:14.480 --> 0:09:19.240 at Smith claimed there was racism when there was no racism, 0:09:19.360 --> 0:09:22.160 even went so far as to lie about who was 0:09:22.200 --> 0:09:27.720 even involved in the alleged incident. Ruined lives, got people threatened, 0:09:28.240 --> 0:09:36.240 people's people's livelihoods destroyed, and there was absolutely absolutely no 0:09:37.080 --> 0:09:40.920 consequences or punishment for her whatsoever. The only people who 0:09:40.960 --> 0:09:46.199 suffered were the innocent. The only people who had any 0:09:46.280 --> 0:09:49.960 downside in this whole situation were those who did nothing wrong, 0:09:50.320 --> 0:09:56.240 including thirty plus year employees of this college. Overrun by 0:09:56.360 --> 0:10:01.360 psycho libs, completely destroyed by wokeness. That's a whole 0:10:33.640 --> 0:10:36.240 other conversation. In fact, not hard at all, depending on 0:10:36.280 --> 0:10:39.760 who you are. But how did a completely innocent person 0:10:40.280 --> 0:10:45.080 get destroyed at Smith College? How did fake racism ruin lives? Here's the tale from the New York Times 0:10:57.600 --> 0:11:01.800 story by Michael Powell in the midsummer of twenty eighteen, 0:11:02.160 --> 0:11:09.080 Umu Kanuete, a black student at Smith College, recounted a 0:11:09.160 --> 0:11:12.640 distressing American tale. She was eating lunch and a dorm 0:11:12.679 --> 0:11:15.600 lounge when a janitor and a campus police officer walked 0:11:15.600 --> 0:11:18.720 over and asked her what she was doing there. The officer, 0:11:18.880 --> 0:11:22.439 who could have been carrying a lethal weapon, left her 0:11:22.679 --> 0:11:26.840 near meltdown. These are quotes from a Miss Kanawate wrote 0:11:26.880 --> 0:11:30.040 on her Facebook saying this encounter continued a year long 0:11:30.120 --> 0:11:35.520 pattern of harassment at Smith. All I did was b black. 0:11:35.679 --> 0:11:40.080 Kanoete wrote, It's outrageous that some people question my being 0:11:40.080 --> 0:11:43.960 at Smith College and my existence overall as a woman 0:11:44.080 --> 0:11:49.400 of color. The college's president, Kathleen McCartney, offered profuse apologies 0:11:49.400 --> 0:11:53.400 and put the janitor on paid leave. This painful incident 0:11:53.440 --> 0:11:56.240 reminds us of the ongoing legacy of racism and bias, 0:11:56.320 --> 0:11:59.640 the president wrote, in which people of color are targeted 0:11:59.640 --> 0:12:03.280 whilst simply going about the business of their ordinary lives. 0:12:04.400 --> 0:12:07.640 The New York Times, the Washington Post, and CNN picked 0:12:07.720 --> 0:12:10.960 up the story of a young black female student harassed 0:12:11.000 --> 0:12:14.640 by white workers the American Civil Liberties Union, which took 0:12:14.640 --> 0:12:17.840 the student's case that she was profiled for quote eating 0:12:18.320 --> 0:12:22.160 while black. Less attention was paid three months later, when 0:12:22.160 --> 0:12:24.760 a law firm hired by Smith College to investigate the 0:12:24.800 --> 0:12:30.000 episode found no persuasive evidence of bias. Miss Counterwetday was 0:12:30.000 --> 0:12:32.880 determined to have eaten in a deserted dorm that had 0:12:32.880 --> 0:12:36.520 been closed for the summer. The janitor had been encouraged 0:12:36.520 --> 0:12:40.360 to notify the security on campus if he saw unauthorized 0:12:40.400 --> 0:12:45.439 people there, and the officer, like all campus police, was unarmed. 0:12:46.240 --> 0:12:50.840 The whole thing was a lie. Very important that you 0:12:50.920 --> 0:12:52.720 know this right away. The whole thing was a lie. 0:12:53.600 --> 0:12:57.320 There was no profiling, there was no racism. Smith College officials were emphasizing reconciliation and healing 0:13:05.400 --> 0:13:08.200 after the incident, The New York Times rights. In the 0:13:08.240 --> 0:13:10.720 months to come, they announced a raft of anti bias 0:13:10.800 --> 0:13:14.400 training for all staff, a revamped and more sensitive campus 0:13:14.400 --> 0:13:18.640 police force, and the creation of dormitories set aside for 0:13:18.840 --> 0:13:22.719 black students and other students of color. That's 0:13:22.760 --> 0:13:25.679 a that's a thing that continues to happen in these campuses. 0:13:26.080 --> 0:13:31.240 There are dorms that are segregated at the request of, 0:13:31.480 --> 0:13:36.280 at the demand of minority students, and in some cases 0:13:36.320 --> 0:13:38.480 at my college, at Amherst College, which is right down 0:13:38.520 --> 0:13:40.640 the road from Smith, and they you can take all 0:13:40.720 --> 0:13:42.880 classes at one. You can take all the classes from 0:13:42.880 --> 0:13:44.720 one when you're at the other. So there is a 0:13:44.720 --> 0:13:48.320 lot a crossover at these schools. And Smith is an 0:13:48.360 --> 0:13:50.600 all women's college. Although I'm being serious, I don't know 0:13:50.640 --> 0:13:55.280 how they describe that now, because there are gender fluid 0:13:55.320 --> 0:13:58.280 people who attend Smith who are not biological females. So 0:13:58.679 --> 0:14:01.760 they've they've eliminated gender from the student constitution. I'm serious. 0:14:01.760 --> 0:14:04.679 So I didn't even know it's all women, except it's 0:14:04.760 --> 0:14:07.240 not all women. That's the best way I could put 0:14:07.240 --> 0:14:11.520 it to you. And that's just a biological fact. She docks a worker 0:14:44.200 --> 0:14:47.040 whom she thought, I mean, you really at again in 0:14:47.040 --> 0:14:49.240 the details of the story, she thought was the person 0:14:49.280 --> 0:14:53.240 who called the police or campus police, and she was wrong. 0:14:54.560 --> 0:14:58.360 She docks the wrong person. She thought a cafeteria worker 0:14:58.800 --> 0:15:01.200 was the one who said that she you know, who 0:15:01.440 --> 0:15:04.240 called security on her. The food services director called the next morning, Jackie, 0:27:19.080 --> 0:27:22.359 He said, you're on Facebook. She found that Miss Kennoeta 0:27:22.440 --> 0:27:27.399 had posted her photograph, name and email. This is the 0:27:27.600 --> 0:27:30.720 racist person, Miss Kannoeta wrote of Miss Blair, adding that 0:27:30.840 --> 0:27:34.760 Miss Patnade, mister Paternada, rat of the janitor, was also guilty. 0:27:35.480 --> 0:27:37.320 He in fact worked an early shift that day and 0:27:37.359 --> 0:27:39.800 had already gone home at the time of the incident. 0:27:40.640 --> 0:27:44.439 Miss Kennoeta also lashed out of the Smith administration, They're 0:27:44.520 --> 0:27:50.040 essentially enabling racist, cowardly acts. Miss Blair. You know, the deep state is there. 1:23:42.400 --> 1:23:44.519 I just give you one story from when I was there. 1:23:46.680 --> 1:23:49.760 I convinced the Bureau of Justice Statistics to try to 1:23:49.920 --> 1:23:56.000 get data on the false positives for the background checks. 1:23:56.040 --> 1:23:59.040 Because we will hear constantly about three and a half 1:23:59.080 --> 1:24:02.080 million dangerous inhibited people have been stopped from buying guns, 1:24:02.439 --> 1:24:04.519 and that's simply not true. What they should say is 1:24:04.520 --> 1:24:06.840 there have been three and a half million initial denials 1:24:07.280 --> 1:24:10.400 and something over ninety nine percent of those are false positives, 1:24:10.760 --> 1:24:14.960 and it's particularly minority mails that are being discriminated against. 1:24:15.280 --> 1:24:17.400 And so when I was in Washington, I tried to 1:24:17.560 --> 1:24:24.599 get data on the false positives that are there the FBI. 1:24:24.960 --> 1:24:27.120 We got the Bureau of Justice Statistics to ask the 1:24:27.200 --> 1:24:30.760 FBI for the data. The FBI first of all try 1:24:30.800 --> 1:24:34.400 to convince us that nobody would be interested in, you know, 1:24:34.479 --> 1:24:37.400 the rate that black mails and Hispanic mails are being 1:24:37.479 --> 1:24:41.479 discriminated against in the background check system. And then they 1:24:41.560 --> 1:24:44.640 went silent for about five weeks and then finally got 1:24:44.720 --> 1:24:48.600 back to us two days after the election and insisted 1:24:48.680 --> 1:24:53.240 that the that the Bureau of Justice Statistics had to 1:24:53.320 --> 1:24:57.040 do a foyer request from the FBI to go and 1:24:57.160 --> 1:25:00.320 get the data. And of course nobody you had ever 1:25:00.400 --> 1:25:02.720 heard of something like that. And then they told us 1:25:03.040 --> 1:25:04.680 that we weren't going to be able to get it 1:25:04.760 --> 1:25:08.240 anyway until after January twentieth, and they assured us that 1:25:08.320 --> 1:25:11.719 the Biden administration would not be interested in that type 1:25:11.720 --> 1:25:15.080 of data. So just one of many stories I can 1:25:15.120 --> 1:25:18.640 tell you from kind of uh, kind of the politicization 1:25:18.760 --> 1:25:21.360 of the FBI that's there, But I think that's probably 1:25:21.400 --> 1:25:24.200 the one. You got the Tomy mansion bill that's going 1:25:24.280 --> 1:25:26.680 to come up again, and I think that's one thing 1:25:26.800 --> 1:25:29.840 that's there. So are they are they going to come 1:25:29.880 --> 1:25:32.280 after people's guns? I mean, this is always the concern. 1:25:32.800 --> 1:25:36.280 Are there any realistic chances you think that they're going 1:25:36.360 --> 1:25:39.760 to try a mandatory buy back program through executive order 1:25:39.800 --> 1:25:42.520 to clare a you know, a gun violent state of emergency? 1:25:42.560 --> 1:25:45.520 I mean, what are people worried about? You know what that is is basically machine 1:25:57.520 --> 1:26:02.560 guns right now, but during the campaign, Biden wanting to 1:26:02.720 --> 1:26:07.160 classify semi automatic rifles as Class three and magazines that 1:26:07.320 --> 1:26:10.040 hold over ten rounds. So that would require a two 1:26:10.120 --> 1:26:12.760 hundred dollars fee for each of those items that you 1:26:12.800 --> 1:26:16.799 would have, and you'd have to register and license them. I assume if they expand it the 1:26:21.960 --> 1:26:27.760 way they would would dramatically increase that time.
