And so they make 0:11:32.920 --> 0:11:36.240 and naked or explicit image of someone and put it out. 0:11:36.440 --> 0:11:41.160 And the incidence of deep fakes last year increased three 0:11:41.720 --> 0:11:45.760 thousand percent, and over ninety percent of the victims of 0:11:46.080 --> 0:11:50.360 deep fake explicit imagery are women or teenage girls, and 0:11:50.679 --> 0:11:54.559 so it is growing massively. And so the Take It 0:11:54.640 --> 0:11:57.120 Down Act is legislation that I introduce that makes it 0:11:57.200 --> 0:12:01.640 a crime, a federal felony to post non consensual intimate images, 0:12:01.679 --> 0:12:06.960 either real pictures or deep fakes. And secondly, it puts 0:12:07.120 --> 0:12:11.280 a federal statutory obligation on tech platforms to take the 0:12:11.400 --> 0:12:14.959 pictures down, to take the videos down, because the platforms 0:12:15.000 --> 0:12:18.720 have been horrifable responding to victims. They ignore victims, they 0:12:18.880 --> 0:12:21.440 leave the images up, and so the victim ends up 0:12:21.559 --> 0:12:24.800 being being victimized over and over and over again by 0:12:24.840 --> 0:12:27.439 the images staying out there. And so To Take It 0:12:27.520 --> 0:12:30.440 Down Act puts a legal obligation that when the victim 0:12:30.559 --> 0:12:34.480 notifies them, hey, that's me, that's an explicit image of me, 0:12:34.600 --> 0:12:36.679 and you don't have my consent to put it up, 0:12:36.720 --> 0:12:40.719 they have to take it down. And very importantly, this includes for 0:13:29.960 --> 0:13:34.640 forgeries generated by artificial intelligence known as deep fakes. We've 0:13:34.640 --> 0:13:36.400 all heard about deep fakes.
