Yeah, I was released 0:00:45.479 --> 0:00:48.400 in June. Um. But yeah, I had this false memory 0:00:48.400 --> 0:00:50.280 in my head that this too was a Christmas movie. 0:00:50.560 --> 0:00:53.040 And evidently I'm not alone. But that's just half the story. Yeah, They're like, we don't have 0:08:25.680 --> 0:08:27.720 time for this. No. Gremlins one is also 0:09:33.800 --> 0:09:38.560 supposed to be funny, but G two goes to heights 0:09:38.640 --> 0:09:41.679 unimagined by the first film. It's kind of hard to say who it's for, Like, 0:09:45.040 --> 0:09:47.520 is this an R rated horror movie or a cute 0:09:47.600 --> 0:09:51.400 Christmas movie for kids? It's kind of both. Gremlins are a twentieth 0:11:46.720 --> 0:11:50.079 century creation. They're part of the culture of aeronautics and 0:11:50.080 --> 0:11:53.760 and piloting, I believe particularly the British r A F 0:11:54.040 --> 0:11:58.720 who made reference to gremlins as these devilish little saboteurs 0:11:58.800 --> 0:12:02.240 and mischief makers who would walk around inside the engine 0:12:02.240 --> 0:12:04.720 with a big pair of scissors and cut the wires 0:12:04.760 --> 0:12:08.360 while you were in midflight for a deadly prank. Sometimes those things will be bizarre scenes like 0:13:35.480 --> 0:13:39.200 the the talk show interview where the brainy gremlin explains 0:13:39.240 --> 0:13:41.280 what the Gremlins want and it turns out what they 0:13:41.280 --> 0:13:44.680 want is civilization, or the part where there's like a 0:13:44.800 --> 0:13:48.559 chorus of gremlin singing New York, New York. Sometimes it's 0:13:48.600 --> 0:13:51.760 gonna be visual gags, like where the gremlin with bat 0:13:51.840 --> 0:13:54.680 wings flies through a wall and leaves a hole that 0:13:54.880 --> 0:13:58.920 is the Tim Burton Batman symbol, or just sometimes it's 0:13:58.920 --> 0:14:02.320 gonna be out of nowhere fourth wall breaking gags like 0:14:02.440 --> 0:14:04.960 when Hulk Hogan yells at us, or when we see 0:14:05.000 --> 0:14:07.760 the film critic Leonard Malton show up to give a 0:14:07.800 --> 0:14:10.920 one star review of Gremlins one only to then be 0:14:11.120 --> 0:14:14.600 murdered by Gremlins. Oh it's there are many layers to it.
