I can assume based on the crime numbers 0:01:17.737 --> 0:01:19.777 which I have seen and keep a pretty close eye 0:01:19.817 --> 0:01:23.537 on that things have not gotten markedly better there in 0:01:23.617 --> 0:01:27.657 recent years, but this one is fascinating. But right now our mayor, Mayor Brandon Scott, 0:02:07.177 --> 0:02:10.817 he's suing Kia and HONDEI because he says that their 0:02:10.857 --> 0:02:13.457 cars are too easy to steal. Just to give you 0:02:13.537 --> 0:02:16.217 kind of a background here, in the first seven days 0:02:16.217 --> 0:02:19.577 of May May first to May eighth, we've had one 0:02:19.657 --> 0:02:23.337 hundred and seventy four cars stolen in Baltimore City, and 0:02:23.377 --> 0:02:27.137 so we've got a problem with carjacking. There's apparently this 0:02:27.217 --> 0:02:29.897 new trend on TikTok where all the kids are doing it. 0:02:30.457 --> 0:02:32.897 But he believes instead of holding those kids accountable or 0:02:32.897 --> 0:02:36.297 even their parents, he believes the manufacturers of these cars 0:02:36.577 --> 0:02:39.737 they're the ones to blame because they're allowing these kids 0:02:39.777 --> 0:02:43.257 to easily hot wire their mobiles and then steal them. 0:02:44.297 --> 0:02:49.297 So this is amazing. His name was Ivan Bates. 0:04:25.777 --> 0:04:31.217 He recently just passed in the Annapolis the Annapolis House. 0:04:31.217 --> 0:04:33.897 Basically in the Senate, he passed a law for five 0:04:33.937 --> 0:04:37.177 year editory minimums on a legal possession of a firearm. 0:04:37.417 --> 0:04:40.657 And he got that through the very last minute. The 0:04:40.737 --> 0:04:43.337 unfortunate part is we now have a governor and governor 0:04:43.377 --> 0:04:46.897 Wes Moore who is very progressive and he is tied 0:04:47.057 --> 0:04:50.457 somewhat to Soros. So he just signed into law that 0:04:50.577 --> 0:04:54.377 law abiding citizens cannot carry their guns anywhere. If you 0:04:54.417 --> 0:04:57.017 have a carry permit, he wants you to at least 0:04:57.137 --> 0:05:00.457 leave the guns at home. He believes law abiding citizens 0:05:00.497 --> 0:05:03.657 are the problem. The issue there, Buck is when you're 0:05:03.697 --> 0:05:06.497 looking at the offenders in Baltimore City at a three 0:05:06.577 --> 0:05:10.057 hundred of people that have been arrested and offended with guns, 0:05:10.257 --> 0:05:12.857 only two of them were law abiding citizens at a 0:05:12.897 --> 0:05:15.497 three hundred. So it's not the law abiding citizens that 0:05:15.537 --> 0:05:19.057 are the problem. I was like, you got to 0:06:14.577 --> 0:06:18.057 you got to see these numbers where half of felon 0:06:18.217 --> 0:06:21.977 in possession cases, this is a Krasner, who's a Soros 0:06:21.977 --> 0:06:26.537 back DA there, right, half of felon possession cases were dismissed. 0:06:26.857 --> 0:06:29.457 Kim not not like oh, we're going to give somebody 0:06:29.457 --> 0:06:32.457 a low sentence or you know, put that dismissed. Nothing. 0:06:32.777 --> 0:06:35.017 So these are people who had a legal gun and 0:06:35.657 --> 0:06:38.537 we're violating the statute, the federal statute against being a 0:06:38.537 --> 0:06:40.897 felon in possession. But the local DA just said he's 0:06:40.937 --> 0:06:43.577 not going to do anything about it. What you know 0:06:43.777 --> 0:06:47.177 is that happening in Maryland as well, because on the 0:06:47.177 --> 0:06:49.457 one hand, they'll talk about assault rifles and making the 0:06:49.497 --> 0:06:54.017 penalties really stiff for having a pistol brace or you know, 0:06:54.097 --> 0:06:57.057 bumstock or whatever, but they've all these gang bangers who 0:06:57.057 --> 0:06:59.977 are running around with pistols illegally and they don't really 0:07:00.017 --> 0:07:02.337 get prosecuted. Like, how is it working in Baltimore. 0:07:03.737 --> 0:07:06.377 Yeah, so, like I said, luckily we got rid of 0:07:05.817 --> 0:07:09.897 our Soros back DA in November twenty twenty two. But 0:07:10.097 --> 0:07:12.097 at the same time, you have a mayor that is 0:07:12.177 --> 0:07:14.657 very focused on ghost guns. And but I don't know 0:07:14.657 --> 0:07:16.457 if you know, but these are the guns I guess 0:07:16.497 --> 0:07:20.897 they're making. Yeah, they're making at home. And so there's 0:07:20.937 --> 0:07:23.497 a lot of laws now in place for the ghost guns. 0:07:24.457 --> 0:07:26.137 But of course, you know, when you're looking at the 0:07:26.137 --> 0:07:28.817 guns used on the streets of Baltimore, they are regular 0:07:28.937 --> 0:07:32.577 handguns that have been stolen from either law abiding citizens 0:07:32.777 --> 0:07:35.217 or they're coming in from out of state. So in twenty twenty one, according to our police commissioner, 0:08:14.137 --> 0:08:18.457 they obtained thirty six ghost guns from who they believe 0:08:18.697 --> 0:08:21.977 allegedly used them, whether they were in the shooting perhaps 0:08:21.977 --> 0:08:24.777 they didn't hit somebody, but also a murder. So thirty 0:08:24.817 --> 0:08:26.777 six ghost guns. But you have to remember, Buck, we 0:08:26.897 --> 0:08:30.177 have over one thousand shootings per year. So if you're 0:08:30.177 --> 0:08:33.457 looking at thirty six compared to a thousand, and this 0:08:33.617 --> 0:08:36.377 is one thousand plus sometimes twelve hundred, thirteen hundred shootings 0:08:36.377 --> 0:08:39.097 per year. I mean that thirty six means absolutely nothing. 0:08:39.457 --> 0:08:43.537 It's it's remarkable. I watched this and I just wonder, 0:08:44.017 --> 0:08:46.497 actually I want to ask you about this. You know, a lot of them 0:08:51.017 --> 0:08:53.417 are Democrats a Democrat city, right, I want to know 0:08:53.457 --> 0:08:57.737 what they say at this point, and I'm talking about 0:08:57.897 --> 0:09:00.097 Democrat voters, right. Put aside the I'm sure you are 0:09:00.097 --> 0:09:02.017 friends who are Republicans, lots of them, you know, in 0:09:02.057 --> 0:09:05.297 and around Baltimore. But I want to know what people, 0:09:05.377 --> 0:09:07.297 the residents are saying about the people who were in 0:09:07.377 --> 0:09:08.897 charge and what's going on. What do they say, do they think it's 0:10:43.657 --> 0:10:46.137 really going to get better supporting the same party? When I ran in twenty twenty, 0:11:15.817 --> 0:11:20.097 we actually flip fourteen thousand Democrats to vote Republican, which 0:11:20.137 --> 0:11:23.537 was great ride. But I think people have to remember 0:11:23.857 --> 0:11:26.217 when it comes to Baltimore City and so many of 0:11:26.257 --> 0:11:29.097 these cities, they're very small cities. You know, when it 0:11:29.097 --> 0:11:32.617 comes to population size. And then also, like our mayor, 0:11:32.777 --> 0:11:35.457 he got the American Rescue Plan Fund and you probably 0:11:35.497 --> 0:11:39.777 remember Buck, this is a handout from the federal government. Well, anyways, 0:11:39.817 --> 0:11:42.337 we got six hundred and forty one million dollars, and 0:11:42.377 --> 0:11:44.377 that six hundred and forty one million dollars will go 0:11:44.457 --> 0:11:46.697 to nonprofits. And this is what they do. They get 0:11:46.737 --> 0:11:49.537 money from the federal level, they fund the nonprofits, and 0:11:49.577 --> 0:11:52.457 then those that work for the nonprofits they usually vote 0:11:52.497 --> 0:11:57.017 for them. Again because their paychecks depends on who's an office, 0:11:57.137 --> 0:11:59.377 and so that's how they get many of these votes. 0:11:59.377 --> 0:12:02.977 It's people that are working in these nonprofits or government positions, 0:12:03.177 --> 0:12:06.017 and so they want to continue to fund let's say 0:12:06.017 --> 0:12:08.417 a progressive mayor or so because they know that they're 0:12:08.417 --> 0:12:10.897 going to continue to fund their non of profits. So 0:12:11.377 --> 0:12:15.977 literally it is the minority that's voting based on not 0:12:16.097 --> 0:12:18.497 being a part of the government. And so if they 0:12:18.617 --> 0:12:22.497 vote for something different, say a Republican, unfortunately in that situation, 0:12:22.577 --> 0:12:23.777 their vote doesn't really matter. 0:12:25.377 --> 0:12:28.537 Interesting, so there's a patronage network that plays a big 0:12:28.577 --> 0:12:30.457 role in this. I mean, we see this, right, We 0:12:30.497 --> 0:12:32.417 see this with the teachers unions for example, a lot 0:12:32.417 --> 0:12:35.417 of teachers unions vote Democrat because they know the Democrats 0:12:35.417 --> 0:12:37.737 are going to do anything the teachers' union wants when 0:12:37.737 --> 0:12:39.897 they're in power, and so it's just one hand washes 0:12:39.937 --> 0:12:42.777 the other. Right, But when you see, as I think 0:12:42.817 --> 0:12:45.297 it's so much the case right now, Kim. You see 0:12:45.497 --> 0:12:48.057 and a lot of cities that I think should be 0:12:48.097 --> 0:12:51.777 great American cities that are blessed by you know, history 0:12:51.817 --> 0:12:55.337 and geography, and you know a lot of things going 0:12:55.337 --> 0:12:58.137 in architecture, et cetera, a lot of things going for them. 0:12:58.217 --> 0:13:00.617 I mean, San Francisco is in the process of being 0:13:00.697 --> 0:13:03.577 ruined as a city. Right. Portland, which I think is 0:13:03.617 --> 0:13:07.137 a great little town city, also in the process of 0:13:07.177 --> 0:13:10.537 being ruined. It's on the west coast, by on the 0:13:10.577 --> 0:13:12.697 East coast. If there is a city that I think 0:13:12.737 --> 0:13:16.577 is underperforming what it should be as a place to 0:13:16.657 --> 0:13:19.937 live and to work and to raise a family, Baltimore 0:13:20.017 --> 0:13:22.897 is high on that list, right. It should be a 0:13:22.937 --> 0:13:27.137 place that people are flocking to, and instead it's got 0:13:27.177 --> 0:13:31.537 the reputation being very high crime, incredibly corrupt. How do 0:13:31.577 --> 0:13:34.297 you fix it? Like what would have to happen? Like 0:13:34.497 --> 0:13:36.457 I feel like, would I know how to fix New 0:13:36.537 --> 0:13:38.257 York City because I grew up in New York City, 0:13:38.257 --> 0:13:40.857 I'm assuming there's some similarities to Baltimore. But how do 0:13:40.897 --> 0:13:44.217 you fix the crime, the corruption, the decay in your 0:13:44.257 --> 0:13:44.817 home city. 0:13:46.417 --> 0:13:49.697 Yeah, so you would definitely have to really enforce the law, 0:13:50.017 --> 0:13:52.417 right and so right now we have people that are 0:13:52.497 --> 0:13:55.137 very soft in crime. So some police officers feel that they can't 0:14:11.057 --> 0:14:14.097 really do their job. They're under a microscope.
