Here's Mark Jobe with today's 0:01:11.920 --> 0:01:13.000 bold steps. 0:01:15.280 --> 0:01:19.920 Paul says, he says you were taught with regard to 0:01:19.920 --> 0:01:23.040 your former way of life, to put off the old self, 0:01:23.040 --> 0:01:27.559 which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires. Hey, there's 0:01:27.560 --> 0:01:29.440 a lot of stuff in your old life that you 0:01:29.440 --> 0:01:32.240 need to start taking off. There's a lot of stuff. 0:01:32.280 --> 0:01:34.520 There's a lot of old way of living that you 0:01:34.520 --> 0:01:37.480 know is wrong. That was the old you, and you 0:01:37.480 --> 0:01:39.639 could probably name it off the top of your head. 0:01:39.640 --> 0:01:42.360 The stuff that you used to do, the stuff that 0:01:42.360 --> 0:01:45.319 maybe sometimes you do now, but the stuff that was 0:01:45.319 --> 0:01:47.200 a part of your old life that shouldn't be a 0:01:47.200 --> 0:01:49.920 part of your new life, right? We all know that stuff. 0:01:51.040 --> 0:01:54.800 That stuff will corrupt you. That stuff is no longer 0:01:54.800 --> 0:01:57.639 a part of you. What Paul 0:02:30.370 --> 0:02:33.730 is saying is that you have to take off stuff. 0:02:35.010 --> 0:02:42.010 I take off lying, cheating, deceit, getting drunk. I take 0:02:42.010 --> 0:02:45.489 off a lot of that old junk I used to do. 0:02:46.050 --> 0:02:52.930 I take selfishness and anger and bitterness and hatred. I 0:02:52.970 --> 0:02:55.369 take off cheating, I take off, I take off all 0:02:55.410 --> 0:02:58.410 that old stuff I start taking. Those are dirty clothes. 0:02:59.210 --> 0:03:02.290 I take off that dirty clothes no longer belongs to you. 0:03:02.530 --> 0:03:08.210 That's not you anymore. Now I begin to renew my mind. 0:03:08.210 --> 0:03:10.370 And the second step, he tells us, is being made 0:03:10.370 --> 0:03:12.170 new in the attitude of your mind. So you start taking it off, 0:03:28.250 --> 0:03:31.570 and then you start renewing your mind, thinking a different way, 0:03:31.730 --> 0:03:35.210 learning how to live life a different way. Envisioning your 0:03:35.210 --> 0:03:39.570 life a different way. God's way. And then he says, 0:03:39.770 --> 0:03:44.850 and put on the new self, created to be like 0:03:44.850 --> 0:03:50.410 God in true righteousness and holiness. Listen, now you're putting 0:03:50.410 --> 0:03:54.490 on your new self. You've gotten rid of your old self. 0:03:54.970 --> 0:03:57.930 Now you're putting on your new self and your new self. 0:03:57.930 --> 0:04:01.340 Looks like who? It looks like your father. It looks 0:04:01.340 --> 0:04:05.460 like God. It has love and righteousness and peace and 0:04:05.460 --> 0:04:09.619 joy and the creativity of God, the faith of God. 0:04:09.660 --> 0:04:12.660 That's the new you. Here's what I see 0:04:26.300 --> 0:04:30.300 many of us do. We have the old and we 0:04:30.300 --> 0:04:34.260 say that kind of like the old. I've become accustomed 0:04:34.260 --> 0:04:39.339 to this old shoe. I've had fun with this old shoe. 0:04:40.620 --> 0:04:42.700 And so I'm going to try to keep my old 0:04:42.700 --> 0:04:45.859 shoe and put my old shoe into my new shoe. 0:04:46.700 --> 0:04:50.740 And you know what? It doesn't quite fit right. You 0:04:50.740 --> 0:04:54.380 can't keep your old shoe and put the new shoe on. 0:04:54.820 --> 0:04:59.740 You're going to walk funny. Because this is going to hit practical. 0:05:46.100 --> 0:05:47.980 This goes right to where you live, right to where 0:05:47.980 --> 0:05:50.500 you work, right to where you study. He's going to 0:05:50.540 --> 0:05:54.340 meddle with your life right now. Are you ready for that? Okay, 0:05:54.339 --> 0:05:59.500 here we go. He says in verse 25, stop lying 0:05:59.540 --> 0:06:04.029 and start telling the truth. Lying was part of your 0:06:04.029 --> 0:06:07.510 old life. You take it off. Truth is part of you. 0:06:07.910 --> 0:06:13.590 Your new life. You put it on. Now you say, well, pastor, 0:06:13.589 --> 0:06:19.070 I don't really lie. I just tell white lies. Hold 0:06:19.070 --> 0:06:25.190 on a second. Since when were lies color coded? Since 0:06:25.190 --> 0:06:27.230 when did we have a pink lie? A blue lie. 0:06:27.270 --> 0:06:30.270 A light blue lie. A maroon, a dark lie. A 0:06:30.270 --> 0:06:35.589 brown lie and a black lie. Who color coded lies. Listen, 0:06:35.910 --> 0:06:43.030 a lie is a lie. Period. There is no good lies. 0:06:43.790 --> 0:06:50.790 There's no white lies. There's no less bad lies. Lies 0:06:50.790 --> 0:06:54.510 are lies. Period. You know what the Bible says? That 0:06:54.510 --> 0:06:57.270 the devil is the father of lies. When we lie, we speak the native language 0:07:04.029 --> 0:07:07.789 of the devil because he's a liar. He lives with lies, love, lies. 0:07:07.790 --> 0:07:12.550 He loves lies. He dishes out lies. He's an accuser. 0:07:12.550 --> 0:07:17.070 And every time we lie, every time we bend the truth, deceive, 0:07:17.110 --> 0:07:19.870 tell a lie. What we are doing is we are 0:07:19.870 --> 0:07:24.310 speaking the native language of the enemy, of our souls. 0:07:24.310 --> 0:07:28.150 We are. It's like we're speaking jive. We're speaking the 0:07:28.150 --> 0:07:32.270 old neighborhood talk. And the enemy says, yeah, I understand 0:07:32.270 --> 0:07:34.590 this language. Hold on a second. No, no, no, no. 0:07:34.590 --> 0:07:37.910 When you speak lies, you are speaking the native tongue 0:07:37.950 --> 0:07:41.670 of the enemy. You are talking his language. You are 0:07:41.670 --> 0:07:45.390 introducing his culture. You are opening up the doors for 0:07:45.390 --> 0:07:48.470 the enemy to get into your life. And what the 0:07:48.470 --> 0:07:52.630 Bible says is when we speak lies, we are not 0:07:52.630 --> 0:07:57.070 speaking the language of God because the language of God 0:07:57.070 --> 0:08:04.040 is truth. Amen. So we don't lie and we speak 0:08:04.040 --> 0:08:06.440 the truth. That means you don't lie at your work 0:08:06.480 --> 0:08:08.400 about how many hours you've worked or haven't worked. You 0:08:08.400 --> 0:08:11.080 don't lie to your kids. You don't say, well, I'm 0:08:11.080 --> 0:08:12.480 just going to lie. I'm just going to tell them 0:08:12.480 --> 0:08:14.680 this little lie. No, no, you don't lie to your kids. 0:08:14.880 --> 0:08:17.760 You don't lie to your spouse. Listen, can I tell you this? 0:08:46.240 --> 0:08:48.360 When you start down the road of little white lies, 0:08:48.360 --> 0:08:50.080 I'm going to tell you. Little white lies turn into 0:08:50.120 --> 0:08:54.760 big black lies. Little light, little white lies begin to 0:08:54.960 --> 0:09:00.080 you begin to. So this, this, this little entanglement of 0:09:00.200 --> 0:09:03.600 lies as you begin to bend the truth and, and 0:09:03.600 --> 0:09:08.360 and begin to deceive. And half truths and half lies. Listen, 0:09:08.360 --> 0:09:11.199 that is the best way to begin to get your 0:09:11.200 --> 0:09:15.600 life down this road of deception and lack of integrity. 0:09:16.000 --> 0:09:19.400 I have seen it over and over. So many people 0:09:19.400 --> 0:09:22.199 that start with little lies and just their whole life 0:09:22.200 --> 0:09:25.960 becomes a lie. And so I am challenging you. Paul says, 0:09:25.960 --> 0:09:28.160 I want you to put offline, and I want you 0:09:28.160 --> 0:09:30.720 to put on the clothes of truth. That means you're 0:09:30.760 --> 0:09:33.920 honest with one another. Why? Because, he says, because we 0:09:33.920 --> 0:09:36.640 are all members of one body. In other words, you 0:09:36.640 --> 0:09:39.240 are connected to each other. And when you lie, you 0:09:39.280 --> 0:09:41.800 hurt other people. You hurt yourself. And God is the 0:09:41.800 --> 0:09:48.559 father of truth. All right. I'm just getting started here. Alright? 0:09:48.600 --> 0:09:51.080 And this is Paul. I 0:10:23.610 --> 0:10:28.089 think if you spent if you spent as much time studying, 0:10:28.090 --> 0:10:29.770 then you do trying to figure out how to cheat, 0:10:29.770 --> 0:10:35.730 you'd probably pass the exam with an A anyways. James says the wrath 0:11:38.370 --> 0:11:41.330 of man does not work the righteousness of God. Listen, 0:11:41.330 --> 0:11:44.370 when you're angry, you say things you wouldn't normally say. 0:11:44.450 --> 0:11:48.130 You do things you wouldn't normally do. Anger and lust 0:11:48.130 --> 0:11:51.850 are cousins. They go hand in hand. When people get angry, 0:11:51.850 --> 0:11:55.410 they overdrink. When people get angry, they get violent. When 0:11:55.410 --> 0:11:58.450 people get angry, they say things that hurt people. And what Paul says is 0:12:09.900 --> 0:12:14.380 you used to be angry a lot and it was accepted, 0:12:14.860 --> 0:12:19.340 but now that you're in God, you can become angry 0:12:19.340 --> 0:12:22.420 because anger, anger is not a sin. Anger is an emotion. 0:12:22.420 --> 0:12:25.220 But it's what you do with your anger that's a sin.
