And 0:01:28.400 --> 0:01:31.560 so the Lord Jesus Christ, I mean, he left the 0:01:31.560 --> 0:01:35.040 suburbs of heaven, came to the inner city called Earth 0:01:35.520 --> 0:01:40.559 to redeem lost humanity, of which you and I are 0:01:40.640 --> 0:01:43.720 a full part of. And we're grateful for it. We 0:01:43.720 --> 0:01:47.160 thank God, uh, that he did come. So now that 0:01:47.160 --> 0:01:50.000 he came down, we can go up. And I trust 0:01:50.000 --> 0:01:54.000 that someone who's listening will understand what the Bible has 0:01:54.000 --> 0:01:56.600 to say. Here it is in a nutshell. It says that if thou 0:01:59.680 --> 0:02:02.960 shalt confess with thy mouth that Jesus is Lord, and 0:02:02.960 --> 0:02:05.160 believe in thy heart that God raised him from the dead, 0:02:05.200 --> 0:02:08.040 thou shalt be saved. Then verse ten says this for 0:02:08.040 --> 0:02:11.639 with the heart man believes unto righteousness, and with the 0:02:11.639 --> 0:02:16.960 mouth confession is made unto salvation. That word Lord is curious. 0:02:16.960 --> 0:02:21.000 It's the Old Testament equivalent of Yahweh. Do you believe 0:02:21.000 --> 0:02:25.239 that Jesus Christ of the New Testament is Yahweh of 0:02:25.240 --> 0:02:28.240 the Old Testament? Well, whether you believe it or not, 0:02:28.240 --> 0:02:31.160 he is. And the text that we're going to look 0:02:31.160 --> 0:02:34.520 at today gives us what is the gospel? People say, 0:02:34.560 --> 0:02:37.840 what's the good news? That's according to the scriptures, and that 0:02:44.480 --> 0:02:47.560 he was buried, and that he rose again the third 0:02:47.560 --> 0:02:51.200 day according to the scriptures. That's the good news. And 0:02:51.200 --> 0:02:53.800 all you have to do is believe it. Thank God 0:02:53.800 --> 0:02:56.160 he put the cookies on the lower table. It's called the resurrection chapter, and 0:05:13.150 --> 0:05:16.110 he's going to tell us about the resurrection of our 0:05:16.110 --> 0:05:19.549 Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. And basically, if you want 0:05:19.550 --> 0:05:21.790 to boil it down to what he's going to tell us, 0:05:21.790 --> 0:05:25.950 he's going to tell us that death proved that Jesus 0:05:25.950 --> 0:05:30.230 was a man, but the resurrection proved that Jesus was God. 0:05:30.830 --> 0:05:35.029 Uh huh. Yeah, he's the God man. He's God and 0:05:35.029 --> 0:05:40.630 man at the same time. Yeah. He's undiminished deity and 0:05:40.630 --> 0:05:46.950 undeniable humanity at the same time. He's 100% God, 100% 0:05:46.950 --> 0:05:50.349 man at the same time. What that means is this. 0:05:50.350 --> 0:05:53.550 He was born as a baby. Uh, but is the 0:05:53.589 --> 0:05:57.830 eternal God at the same time that he got thirsty? 0:05:57.870 --> 0:06:00.390 But he's the living water at the same. And he gave us 0:07:01.830 --> 0:07:05.349 evidences that Christ has risen from the dead. Let's walk 0:07:05.350 --> 0:07:06.990 through him. I'm going to drop him. Notice, first of all, the first evidence 0:07:09.630 --> 0:07:12.550 about Christ's resurrection from the dead is found in verses 0:07:12.550 --> 0:07:15.270 one and two. Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the 0:07:15.310 --> 0:07:19.750 gospel which I preached unto you, which also you have received, 0:07:19.750 --> 0:07:23.470 and wherein you stand, by which also you are saved. 0:07:23.590 --> 0:07:26.190 If you keep in memory what I have preached unto you, 0:07:26.350 --> 0:07:32.110 unless I have preached unto you in vain. Now notice 0:07:32.110 --> 0:07:36.630 what Paul was saying. He's talking about the transformation of 0:07:36.630 --> 0:07:40.270 the saints. He's saying the first proof that the resurrection 0:07:40.270 --> 0:07:44.350 of Jesus Christ is real is the transformation of the saints. 0:07:44.550 --> 0:07:48.150 He uses the word saved sozo. In other words, when 0:07:48.150 --> 0:07:50.950 you look at what Paul was trying to focus on, 0:07:51.110 --> 0:07:55.150 everybody has two births or everybody should have two births. 0:07:55.150 --> 0:07:58.590 The first birth, your mother tells you about the second 0:07:58.590 --> 0:08:01.550 birth you ought to tell your mother about. And that's 0:08:01.550 --> 0:08:04.750 what Paul was talking about. This second birth. Why? Born once. 0:08:04.750 --> 0:08:10.070 Died twice. Born twice. Die once. Maybe. And so he's saying, listen. 0:08:10.070 --> 0:08:13.430 In verse one, he talks about the proclamation that led 0:08:13.430 --> 0:08:16.550 to your transformation in verse two. He's talking about the 0:08:16.550 --> 0:08:22.350 product of your transformation. He says, you receive the message 0:08:22.510 --> 0:08:26.230 and that message saves you. And it was not in vain. 0:08:26.230 --> 0:08:29.310 It means empty. That is, you heard the message and 0:08:29.310 --> 0:08:33.230 you responded to it. And the problem today in many 0:08:33.230 --> 0:08:36.510 churches is that a whole lot of people have been 0:08:36.910 --> 0:08:42.390 starched and ironed, but they ain't never been washed. Aha. Yeah. See? 0:08:42.429 --> 0:08:45.190 Not in vain. What he means is this it wasn't 0:08:45.190 --> 0:08:49.030 because of the Eightfold path of Buddhism that you got saved. 0:08:49.030 --> 0:08:52.070 It wasn't because of the five pillars of Islam that 0:08:52.070 --> 0:08:54.990 you got saved. It wasn't because of the Ten Commandments 0:08:54.990 --> 0:08:57.590 of the Jews that you got saved. It wasn't because 0:08:57.590 --> 0:09:01.020 of a 12 step program of AA or Na that 0:09:01.020 --> 0:09:03.540 you got saved. But he said it was one step 0:09:03.540 --> 0:09:06.059 that you believed in the finished work of our Lord 0:09:06.059 --> 0:09:10.220 and Savior Jesus Christ. And because of that, you got 0:09:10.220 --> 0:09:13.620 saved because the Son of God became the Son of man, 0:09:13.620 --> 0:09:16.700 that the sons of men may become the sons of God. 0:09:16.700 --> 0:09:21.059 And somebody ought to be grateful that God has saved. 0:09:21.340 --> 0:09:25.819 I wish I had some saved folk in the house. That's what he's saying. 0:10:00.020 --> 0:10:03.260 And when I thought about our salvation, as Paul talks 0:10:03.260 --> 0:10:07.060 about it in verses one and verse two, he says, listen, 0:10:07.059 --> 0:10:11.300 there's only one form of payment for sin, and that's 0:10:11.300 --> 0:10:15.660 the blood of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The 0:10:15.700 --> 0:10:20.380 songwriter said, what can wash away my sin? Nothing but 0:10:20.380 --> 0:10:23.660 the blood of Jesus. What can make me whole again? 0:10:23.700 --> 0:10:27.140 Nothing but the blood of Jesus. Oh precious is the 0:10:27.140 --> 0:10:30.940 flow that makes me white as snow. That is, I remember, uh, back 0:12:25.220 --> 0:12:29.420 in the old sanctuary, major Matthew was an elder, and, uh, Dino, uh, 0:12:29.420 --> 0:12:32.300 was on the drums. And a lady looked up at 0:12:32.300 --> 0:12:34.540 the service and she laughed. And I wanted to know 0:12:34.540 --> 0:12:36.820 what was so funny from the pulpit. What should 0:15:37.810 --> 0:15:41.250 we run and tell? It is the death, burial, and 0:15:41.250 --> 0:15:45.890 resurrection of Jesus Christ that God became. A man, came 0:15:45.890 --> 0:15:49.330 down here, hung, bled and died on an old rugged cross, 0:15:49.650 --> 0:15:52.890 was buried in a borrowed tomb. So he went from 0:15:52.890 --> 0:15:56.490 a borrowed womb to a borrowed tomb. But then, as 0:15:56.490 --> 0:16:01.850 everybody has said early Sunday morning he got up. And 0:16:01.850 --> 0:16:05.210 so the three men on the cross in John 1918. 0:16:05.370 --> 0:16:08.730 And there were three crosses. Well, wait 0:22:43.400 --> 0:22:48.080 a minute. This is at least 400 years before Rome 0:22:48.080 --> 0:22:53.080 ever started using crucifixion as a means of execution. So 0:22:53.080 --> 0:22:55.800 God said, I done already set this thing up.
