Thinking of resurrection 0:00:43.040 --> 0:00:46.040 power this week of Easter. But we're not actually going 0:00:46.080 --> 0:00:48.919 to be looking only at the resurrection of Jesus. In 0:00:48.920 --> 0:00:52.479 today's broadcast, we're also looking at Lazarus. Many of you 0:00:52.479 --> 0:00:56.880 know the story of Jesus resurrecting Lazarus from the dead. 0:00:57.280 --> 0:00:59.760 You're aware that Jesus did that. It was one of 0:00:59.760 --> 0:01:03.520 his biggest miracles. But have you ever thought about why 0:01:03.800 --> 0:01:06.640 Jesus waited as long as he did to do so? 0:01:07.200 --> 0:01:10.880 I mean, Jesus knew that Lazarus was sick. He knew 0:01:10.920 --> 0:01:14.600 that Lazarus was probably going to be dying days before 0:01:14.600 --> 0:01:17.240 he ever went to him. But, you know, the Jews 0:01:17.240 --> 0:01:20.399 believed that it took a number of days, four days, actually, 0:01:20.680 --> 0:01:23.160 for the spirit to leave your body. And so Jesus 0:01:23.200 --> 0:01:27.320 wanted to wait so that they knew for sure that 0:01:27.319 --> 0:01:30.440 Lazarus was dead, so that when he did raise him, 0:01:30.440 --> 0:01:34.240 that full resurrection power would be on display. He's struggling for about two hours 0:03:01.230 --> 0:03:04.710 to try to get out. But he's hollering. He said, now let's go 0:13:15.460 --> 0:13:18.300 to Lazarus. He sleeps. And then they misunderstood him. Okay, 0:13:18.300 --> 0:13:20.620 well then he can wake up. And Jesus said, no, no, 0:13:20.620 --> 0:13:23.700 he's dead. Wait a minute. Jesus, why would you tell 0:13:23.700 --> 0:13:27.100 them he's asleep and they don't understand it? It's a 0:13:27.140 --> 0:13:30.740 euphemism for a Christian dying because we don't die. We 0:13:30.740 --> 0:13:33.620 go to sleep. And anything, anybody that goes to sleep 0:13:33.620 --> 0:13:36.740 has the anticipation of waking up. So Jesus would say 0:13:36.740 --> 0:13:39.500 to them, look, look, I don't see situations the way 0:13:39.500 --> 0:13:44.500 you see situations you see, you know, he's dead. Jesus doesn't look at things the way 0:13:54.500 --> 0:13:58.980 we look at things, and sometimes he waits in his 0:13:58.980 --> 0:14:02.900 purposeful procrastination. Help me preach this. Look at your neighbor 0:14:02.900 --> 0:14:07.060 and say neighbor. Neighbor. How you see the problem is 0:14:07.059 --> 0:14:11.620 the problem. Yeah. And so we're saying, why doesn't he 0:14:11.620 --> 0:14:14.580 stop this? Why doesn't he step into this situation? Can 0:14:14.580 --> 0:14:16.700 I tell you something? Lean up close. Let me whisper 0:14:16.700 --> 0:14:21.100 it to you. God doesn't get glory out of what 0:14:21.140 --> 0:14:25.340 never happens. Alright. Did you get that?
