For what reason? 0:01:10.200 --> 0:01:14.640 Because you're chosen and predestined. Because you're sealed, and because 0:01:14.680 --> 0:01:18.240 it is a deposit within your spirit. For this reason, 0:01:18.760 --> 0:01:21.280 ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord 0:01:21.280 --> 0:01:25.800 Jesus and your love for all the saints, I haven't 0:01:25.800 --> 0:01:30.280 stopped giving thanks for you. Now let me clarify two 0:01:30.280 --> 0:01:33.480 things one. When you have faith in the Lord Jesus, 0:01:33.480 --> 0:01:37.920 you're going to love the saints. You're not talking about Saint 0:01:43.959 --> 0:01:47.840 Jude and Saint Paul and Saint Peter. And I'm not 0:01:47.840 --> 0:01:52.040 talking about those saints. You know who are the saints 0:01:52.880 --> 0:01:57.000 we talked about last week? You're the saints. Anybody that's 0:01:57.000 --> 0:01:59.440 been washed and cleansed in the deposit of the Holy 0:01:59.440 --> 0:02:02.570 Spirit inside of them We are the saints of God. 0:02:04.250 --> 0:02:09.050 We are the saints. He's writing to the saints. The 0:02:09.050 --> 0:02:12.810 beginning of the of Ephesians. He says to the saints 0:02:12.810 --> 0:02:17.130 in Ephesus, to all the believers in Ephesus. We, friends, 0:02:17.130 --> 0:02:19.370 are the saints. Saints means to be set apart unto 0:02:19.410 --> 0:02:22.290 God called out ones. We are the called out ones. 0:02:22.290 --> 0:02:25.210 We are the people of God. When you have faith 0:02:25.210 --> 0:02:28.170 in God, you will love the people of God. We got a thing going on. 0:02:41.130 --> 0:02:43.330 But you know what? I don't like church. And I 0:02:43.330 --> 0:02:47.330 don't like organized religion. I always tell em, hey, don't worry, 0:02:47.370 --> 0:02:52.250 join us. We're disorganized religion. You may like us. But. 0:02:52.370 --> 0:02:55.850 But here's the point. You cannot love God and worship 0:02:55.850 --> 0:03:00.290 God and hate the church because God has put you 0:03:00.290 --> 0:03:03.410 in the. It's the family of God. It's the people 0:03:03.410 --> 0:03:06.329 of God. Oh, you can be aggravated with them. You 0:03:06.330 --> 0:03:09.450 can be irritated with them. But you cannot hate what 0:03:09.490 --> 0:03:12.450 God loves. You will be a part of the church. 0:03:12.450 --> 0:03:15.730 You will be integrated in it. You will grow in it. Why? 0:03:15.930 --> 0:03:18.490 Because as you have faith in God, you will also 0:03:18.490 --> 0:03:21.450 love the people of God, or the family of God, 0:03:21.650 --> 0:03:24.010 or the church of the Living God. To be honest with you, when I 0:04:00.450 --> 0:04:02.820 think of this church, when I think of Chicago, when 0:04:02.820 --> 0:04:04.900 I think of what God has called us to do 0:04:05.420 --> 0:04:09.220 more than anything, what comes to my mind is gratitude. 0:04:09.340 --> 0:04:12.940 I say, thank you, God, because my joy is to 0:04:12.980 --> 0:04:16.900 see you grow. And so Paul says, listen, because God 0:04:16.900 --> 0:04:19.220 has done all this for you. This is what I 0:04:19.220 --> 0:04:22.100 want to remind you of and I keep praying for you. 0:04:22.140 --> 0:04:24.100 Paul says, every time I think of you, I thank 0:04:24.100 --> 0:04:26.740 God for you. But I pray this for you because 0:04:26.740 --> 0:04:29.060 I don't want you to get stagnant. I don't want 0:04:29.060 --> 0:04:32.940 you to stop growing. Here's what I pray. Verse 17 0:04:33.060 --> 0:04:37.420 I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, 0:04:37.900 --> 0:04:44.020 the glorious father, may give you the spirit of wisdom 0:04:44.220 --> 0:04:50.900 and revelation. Why? One version says in the knowledge of him, 0:04:51.100 --> 0:04:53.339 and Ivy says, so that you may know him better. 0:04:54.740 --> 0:04:59.500 The spirit of wisdom and revelation. Wisdom is applied knowledge. 0:04:59.779 --> 0:05:02.940 Revelation is the unveiling of things that you did not 0:05:02.940 --> 0:05:07.540 know before. I pray that God gives you the spirit 0:05:07.540 --> 0:05:10.339 of wisdom so that you can apply the knowledge that 0:05:10.339 --> 0:05:13.700 you know so that you can navigate the things of God, 0:05:13.740 --> 0:05:18.100 but also of revelation, because there are things right now 0:05:18.380 --> 0:05:21.740 that you do not know, that when God reveals them 0:05:21.740 --> 0:05:30.860 to you will change your life. Revelation. And I'm not 0:05:30.860 --> 0:05:34.980 talking simply about a new truth that you write in 0:05:34.980 --> 0:05:39.700 a notebook, but sometimes that revelation has to be spiritual revelation, 0:05:41.220 --> 0:05:44.260 that that your eyes have to be opened spiritually to 0:05:44.300 --> 0:05:46.980 see it, that you never saw it before. And suddenly 0:05:46.980 --> 0:05:50.859 the revelation of God comes forth and you realize something 0:05:50.860 --> 0:05:54.580 that you never knew before that literally changes the course 0:05:54.580 --> 0:06:00.460 and destiny of your life. Spiritual revelation. But listen, that 0:06:00.550 --> 0:06:03.510 spiritual revelation can come to you and maybe you cannot 0:06:03.550 --> 0:06:07.750 receive it. So Paul prays. The second thing he says 0:06:07.750 --> 0:06:10.830 in verse 18, I pray also that the eyes of 0:06:10.830 --> 0:06:14.909 your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know. 0:06:16.230 --> 0:06:19.270 Sometimes God can be giving wisdom and revelation, but if 0:06:19.270 --> 0:06:21.710 our heart is hard and darkened, then we will not 0:06:21.750 --> 0:06:26.310 receive what God is giving to us. Hello. Did you 0:06:26.310 --> 0:06:30.350 realize that your heart has eyes? It says that the 0:06:30.350 --> 0:06:36.030 eyes of your heart will be enlightened. Do you know 0:06:36.029 --> 0:06:38.510 you can be in the same service? And the Word 0:06:38.510 --> 0:06:41.229 of God comes. And someone, someone walks out of this 0:06:41.230 --> 0:06:43.950 place thinking, whoa, I got so much. God spoke to 0:06:43.950 --> 0:06:50.950 me so much. And you're like. Really? I felt like 0:06:50.990 --> 0:06:54.310 the seats were a little too hard. A little warm 0:06:54.310 --> 0:07:01.029 in there. Was it me or did he go long? Man, 0:07:01.029 --> 0:07:07.070 am I hungry? Where's Giordano's again? I mean, were you 0:07:07.070 --> 0:07:13.989 in the same service? Absolutely same service. The problem is 0:07:13.990 --> 0:07:19.070 that although wisdom and revelation was going out, one person's 0:07:19.070 --> 0:07:22.630 eyes or their heart were open and receptive and hungry 0:07:22.630 --> 0:07:29.230 and the other had was not. And so you get 0:07:29.230 --> 0:07:32.670 what you're willing to receive. You receive what you're willing 0:07:32.710 --> 0:07:35.270 to get and what expectation you come with. And when 0:07:35.270 --> 0:07:38.350 your heart is soft and sensitive to God, there is 0:07:38.350 --> 0:07:40.910 wisdom and revelation that will come your way more than 0:07:40.910 --> 0:07:44.430 you can handle. But when you harden your heart, then 0:07:44.470 --> 0:07:47.910 you receive less and less wisdom and revelation, less and 0:07:47.910 --> 0:07:51.550 less truth that can change your life. And after a while, 0:07:51.550 --> 0:07:55.990 it's just the humdrum of some talking head that doesn't 0:07:55.990 --> 0:07:58.870 make very much sense to you as your mind wanders 0:07:58.870 --> 0:08:05.800 in some other direction. That's an issue of the heart. 0:08:08.520 --> 0:08:10.600 So Paul prays, hey, I want you to grow in 0:08:10.600 --> 0:08:13.960 wisdom and revelation. And so he prays for three things 0:08:13.960 --> 0:08:19.440 in their life. I pray that the eyes of your 0:08:19.440 --> 0:08:22.040 heart may be enlightened in order that you may a 0:08:22.520 --> 0:08:29.360 no hope, no riches, and no power. Three things. I 0:08:29.360 --> 0:08:31.960 pray that you know the hope to which he has 0:08:31.960 --> 0:08:39.680 called you. Oh, if you if you're spirit could understand 0:08:40.200 --> 0:08:46.240 the hope that's in your calling. What is hope? Hope 0:08:46.240 --> 0:08:51.480 is the expectation of a better future. Hope is the 0:08:51.520 --> 0:08:56.800 knowledge that there is good coming to you from the future. 0:08:57.440 --> 0:08:59.600 The only way we can have hope is if we 0:08:59.600 --> 0:09:02.400 trust in the God who holds the future, whose sovereign 0:09:02.400 --> 0:09:06.160 and omnipotent, and because we know that he works all 0:09:06.160 --> 0:09:09.440 things together for his good purposes, we have hope. And 0:09:09.440 --> 0:09:12.920 because we know that he has written the final chapter 0:09:12.920 --> 0:09:16.360 of the story. We have hope. And because we know 0:09:16.360 --> 0:09:20.680 that what he started, he is faithful to continue. We 0:09:20.880 --> 0:09:27.760 have hope. We are a people of hope. Listen, one 0:09:27.760 --> 0:09:31.440 of the things that characterizes us is the sense of 0:09:31.440 --> 0:09:36.800 positive expectation about the future. Why? Not because we're engaged 0:09:36.800 --> 0:09:41.520 in some mindless, just positive thinking. But our positive thinking 0:09:41.520 --> 0:09:44.920 is rooted in the positive character of the God that 0:09:44.920 --> 0:09:48.760 we serve. So therefore, we have hope. Hope that God 0:09:48.760 --> 0:09:51.560 is in control. Hope that God is doing a work. 0:09:51.600 --> 0:09:54.600 Hope that he has begun what he's going to finish 0:09:54.600 --> 0:09:57.080 and that we have. We haven't seen the best days 0:09:57.080 --> 0:10:00.530 yet because God is taking us from glory to glory, 0:10:00.530 --> 0:10:04.490 to glory to glory, to glory to glory. Yes, dogs, cats, 0:12:04.500 --> 0:12:08.020 pets will be in heaven, so it doesn't say that. However, 0:12:09.020 --> 0:12:12.140 there's some things that are implicit a bit. You know, 0:12:12.179 --> 0:12:15.060 God created all of heaven and earth, and when he 0:12:15.059 --> 0:12:18.940 created animals, he said they were good. The Bible does 0:12:18.940 --> 0:12:22.340 say that in the Millennial Kingdom, which is not heaven, 0:12:22.340 --> 0:12:25.300 but it is God's reign here on earth. It does 0:12:25.300 --> 0:12:29.819 speak specifically about animals. It actually talks about them in 0:12:29.820 --> 0:12:33.140 an interesting way. The the lion and the lamb will 0:12:33.460 --> 0:12:36.940 be together. And in other words, the animals will get 0:12:36.940 --> 0:12:41.059 along that perhaps, uh, at other times we're eating each other. 0:12:41.100 --> 0:12:43.860 They will get along. So and the millennial is a 0:12:43.860 --> 0:12:47.020 reflection of the power and the glory of God. The word power there is 0:18:09.530 --> 0:18:12.649 the word dunamis, which is where we get the word 0:18:12.650 --> 0:18:19.449 dynamite from, and the incredible dynamite power at work within 0:18:19.450 --> 0:18:23.690 us who believe. What is this power? Oh, this is 0:18:23.690 --> 0:18:27.610 power that you already have. A power that is latent 0:18:27.609 --> 0:18:30.810 within you because the Holy Spirit lives inside of you, 0:18:30.810 --> 0:18:34.889 and this power is already in your being. You possess 0:18:34.890 --> 0:18:38.610 it already. Once in a while, you run into someone 0:18:38.609 --> 0:18:43.490 that just feels like they have no power.
