She is now going 0:03:34.920 --> 0:03:38.920 to be the Democratic nominee in that race. In Wisconsin, 0:03:39.200 --> 0:03:42.000 things didn't work out for the DSA like they'd hoped 0:03:42.320 --> 0:03:46.640 they would, were their candidate for governor, who was expected 0:03:46.640 --> 0:03:50.000 to win by north of twenty points, ended up losing 0:03:50.040 --> 0:03:52.240 that race by less than a point. In a nail 0:03:52.280 --> 0:03:57.080 bider to just a traditional Democratic candidate. They've got 0:04:48.000 --> 0:04:54.000 six to eight right now strong members of Congress that 0:04:54.880 --> 0:04:57.479 they might slightly build on and that might have a 0:04:57.560 --> 0:05:05.760 significant outlier influence on Hakeem Jeffries as speaker. This happened 0:05:05.800 --> 0:05:09.960 with the Tea Party very successfully, where Mark Meadows took 0:05:10.000 --> 0:05:15.520 out John Bayner as the speaker in roughly twenty fourteen 0:05:15.560 --> 0:05:18.800 twenty fifteen, and then they struggled to find a more 0:05:18.839 --> 0:05:22.080 conservative person to put in as speaker and it ended 0:05:22.160 --> 0:05:24.320 up being Paul Ryan, so it wasn't a great success. 0:05:24.800 --> 0:05:27.600 And then you had the Freedom Alliance coming back and 0:05:27.720 --> 0:05:33.640 making McCarthy go through fifteen rounds of votes before they 0:05:33.640 --> 0:05:36.560 were able to settle on putting him in. And what 0:05:36.600 --> 0:05:40.640 they got in return was the you know, was the 0:05:40.640 --> 0:05:44.359 motion to vacate by one vote, which destroyed McCarthy's speakership 0:05:44.400 --> 0:05:47.880 a few months later. What I see happening is is 0:05:47.920 --> 0:05:49.880 that the DSA people are going to come into the 0:05:49.920 --> 0:05:53.440 Congress with this long list of things about defunding police, 0:05:55.200 --> 0:05:59.200 having you know, free medicare for all and so on 0:05:59.240 --> 0:06:02.080 and so forth, and what they'll end up agreeing on 0:06:02.200 --> 0:06:04.200 and what Jeffreys will give up in order to get 0:06:04.240 --> 0:06:08.240 the speakership is basically to defund Israel. And there's going 0:06:08.279 --> 0:06:12.120 to be blood on the hands of the US Congress 0:06:12.200 --> 0:06:16.240 should the Democrats take control of the House in the 0:06:16.279 --> 0:06:19.280 next election, as they likely do, as history will say, 0:06:19.600 --> 0:06:22.360 because that's going to be the negotiating point. The point 0:06:22.440 --> 0:06:24.400 that they're all going to be able to agree on, 0:06:24.800 --> 0:06:26.800 and that Jefferies is going to give up on is 0:06:26.839 --> 0:06:32.440 going to be stopping aid to Israel, particularly military aid. 0:06:32.560 --> 0:06:35.520 Let me mention one other thing about Wisconsin. I don't 0:06:35.520 --> 0:06:38.960 see this guy Crowley getting elected governor Wisconsin now. Is 0:06:39.040 --> 0:06:42.240 that as important as the Senate race in Minnesota? Know, 0:06:42.920 --> 0:06:48.120 But Wisconsin, if you go by the Democrats identity politics, 0:06:49.200 --> 0:06:53.720 although Crowley's been elected, Wisconsin is only about five percent black. 0:06:54.320 --> 0:06:58.240 And certainly that doesn't mean that he can't get elected 0:06:58.320 --> 0:07:00.400 or won't get elected, or that there's not a lot 0:07:00.400 --> 0:07:04.239 of vote, but he doesn't have a real strong within 0:07:04.279 --> 0:07:07.880 the Democratic Party, doesn't have a real strong identity base. 0:07:07.920 --> 0:07:10.360 You know, they're all based on, you know, identity, you know, 0:07:10.400 --> 0:07:12.520 whether you check the boxes of being a woman or 0:07:12.600 --> 0:07:19.160 a gay, or some other ethnicity, or you know, religion 0:07:19.280 --> 0:07:24.920 Muslim or Christian or whatever. So I think I actually 0:07:24.960 --> 0:07:30.000 think that the situation in Wisconsin turned out good for 0:07:30.080 --> 0:07:34.000 the Republicans because there's a fractured Democratic Party with a 0:07:34.080 --> 0:07:36.480 candidate running that really doesn't have a very strong base. 0:07:36.480 --> 0:07:38.520 So I think that the Republicans will come back. It's 0:07:38.520 --> 0:07:43.240 going to be very mixed, But I do believe that 0:07:43.320 --> 0:07:46.280 the DSA is going to have a very negative impact 0:07:46.320 --> 0:07:48.520 in the US Congress going forward, and it's going to 0:07:48.600 --> 0:07:49.440 be all about Israel. 0:07:50.520 --> 0:07:54.679 What do you make of the Democratic strategy of taking 0:07:54.720 --> 0:07:58.760 on these DSA candidates in the primary, where so far, 0:07:58.960 --> 0:08:02.440 at least they've seen extremely hesitant outside of the woman 0:08:03.240 --> 0:08:07.920 in Michigan on taking them on on the issues where 0:08:08.120 --> 0:08:12.000 the DSA says that capitalism has failed, so we need socialism, 0:08:12.520 --> 0:08:16.800 and the Democratic candidates aren't making the case for capitalism. 0:08:17.280 --> 0:08:20.480 The DSA candidates say we should have no border. The 0:08:20.600 --> 0:08:24.520 Democratic candidates aren't making the case for a strong and 0:08:24.560 --> 0:08:27.960 secure border. The DSA candidates are saying we should get 0:08:28.040 --> 0:08:32.280 rid of prisons. The Democratic candidates aren't making the argument 0:08:32.400 --> 0:08:36.520 in favor of prisons to lock criminals up in It 0:08:36.640 --> 0:08:40.480 seems as if their line of attack is strictly related 0:08:40.520 --> 0:08:45.960 to electability, where they're going to their primary voters and 0:08:46.040 --> 0:08:49.480 they're saying, if you elect a DSA candidate, they will 0:08:49.600 --> 0:08:52.480 likely lose to a Republican in the general and that's 0:08:52.520 --> 0:08:55.640 why you shouldn't vote for him. Instead of saying you 0:08:55.679 --> 0:08:59.360 shouldn't vote for the DSA candidate because their ideas are bad, 0:08:59.440 --> 0:09:00.839 ind is are better. 0:09:04.360 --> 0:09:08.240 Yeah, I think that there's a couple points to be 0:09:08.360 --> 0:09:12.280 made here. First, of all, the positions that the DSA 0:09:12.440 --> 0:09:16.480 take that are so alarming, that have been listed again 0:09:16.520 --> 0:09:19.720 and again, and that we're familiar with about defunding the police, 0:09:19.800 --> 0:09:23.240 about not having any prisons, about medicare for all and 0:09:23.280 --> 0:09:26.760 so on and so forth. Are not that distant from 0:09:27.120 --> 0:09:30.559 the progressive from what we used to call progressive Democrats 0:09:30.920 --> 0:09:34.800 before the DSA came on the scene in the mainstream media. 0:09:35.280 --> 0:09:40.080 So I think that the one issue is that the 0:09:40.160 --> 0:09:43.599 people that were allowing the media to call moderate Democrats 0:09:43.720 --> 0:09:48.199 really aren't moderate Democrats. They're progressive Democrats who don't happen 0:09:48.200 --> 0:09:54.920 to necessarily accept all of the democratic socialist principles, largely 0:09:55.000 --> 0:09:59.280 because if they did, they wouldn't get reelected. They they'd 0:09:59.280 --> 0:10:01.920 probably be an enough people who in the independence and 0:10:01.960 --> 0:10:06.040 within the own Democratic Party that wouldn't that wouldn't accept that. So, 0:10:06.480 --> 0:10:08.600 you know, I think that that's one thing. The other 0:10:08.640 --> 0:10:14.080 thing is is that you're seeing the savvy democrat socialist 0:10:14.200 --> 0:10:18.040 candidates like l say ed back away from some of 0:10:18.080 --> 0:10:23.320 the issues. So he's now telling voters in Michigan, well, 0:10:23.360 --> 0:10:26.200 I'm not I'm not really a socialist. Well why is 0:10:26.200 --> 0:10:29.439 he saying he's not? And it's not exactly it's a 0:10:29.440 --> 0:10:32.520 little bit more substantive than saying I'm now in favor 0:10:32.559 --> 0:10:35.960 of Thanksgiving, because I don't necessarily think he's been out 0:10:35.960 --> 0:10:40.200 there saying that he's against Christmas or Thanksgiving, but you 0:10:40.280 --> 0:10:42.920 do see him backing away, and I and I think 0:10:42.960 --> 0:10:45.760 that that what they're looking for in doing that is 0:10:45.800 --> 0:10:50.080 all political, is just plausible deniability. The bottom line is 0:10:50.080 --> 0:10:52.479 is that I do think that there are very significant 0:10:52.520 --> 0:10:57.800 parallels to the challenges to the establishment Republicans that the 0:10:57.880 --> 0:11:00.720 Tea Party and that the as I said said earlier, 0:11:00.880 --> 0:11:04.120 the risk of repeating myself, and that the Freedom Caucus presented. 0:11:04.679 --> 0:11:08.160 It's just that what these democratic socialists are talking about 0:11:08.160 --> 0:11:11.440 are things that are actually dangerous. They're immature, they're not 0:11:11.559 --> 0:11:20.600 well thought out, the childish, and in this danger we 0:11:20.720 --> 0:11:26.559 see that the establishment Democrats, who in my opinion, are 0:11:26.559 --> 0:11:32.479 not moderates, the establishment progressive, they don't have spine. Their 0:11:32.600 --> 0:11:38.839 whole strategy of election in the last three cycles has 0:11:38.920 --> 0:11:42.800 been to simply attack Trump, and in that process they've 0:11:42.840 --> 0:11:47.040 lost their ability to come forward with important policy issues 0:11:47.480 --> 0:11:49.760 and pass them. You know, don't tell me that the 0:11:49.880 --> 0:11:53.280 Inflation Reduction Act or that the Chips Act during the 0:11:53.280 --> 0:11:58.319 Biden administration were some great, wonderful you know, Franklin Delan 0:11:58.440 --> 0:12:03.200 or Roosevelt type legislative achievements. They absolutely work. The Inflation 0:12:03.320 --> 0:12:06.640 Reduction Act of Biden resulted in nine percent inflation, the 0:12:06.720 --> 0:12:11.480 highest inflation that we've had in decades. So they're devoid 0:12:11.520 --> 0:12:18.760 of policy. There's probably a strong anti Trump base out there, 0:12:19.040 --> 0:12:21.560 we know it because of the favorability and so on 0:12:21.600 --> 0:12:25.680 and so forth. It's probably not necessarily large enough for 0:12:25.720 --> 0:12:30.200 them to completely totally take over the House or to 0:12:30.320 --> 0:12:35.480 win a presidential election right right now, even with Trump's 0:12:35.640 --> 0:12:42.800 favorabilities going down somewhat. But they're just vapid. The mainstream 0:12:42.840 --> 0:12:46.040 Democrats just lack policy, and that's why the DSA is 0:12:46.520 --> 0:12:47.360 doing so well. 0:12:48.280 --> 0:12:53.119 Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi just participated in a Politico 0:12:53.600 --> 0:12:57.200 forum where she talked about how she got Joe Biden 0:12:57.360 --> 0:13:00.520 out of the race, and she said what she did 0:13:00.720 --> 0:13:03.040 was she called him up. I guess they met. They 0:13:03.120 --> 0:13:07.160 brought the rosary each of them, and she said, what 0:13:07.200 --> 0:13:12.040 you're doing isn't working. And look what they've done.
