Comy faces charges of making false statements 0:08:42.600 --> 0:08:46.400 and obstruction of Congress. Comy has moved to dismiss the indictment, 0:08:46.520 --> 0:08:50.240 arguing that Halligan's appointment is unlawful. He also wants the 0:08:50.280 --> 0:08:55.880 indictment dismissed on grounds of vindictive prosecution. According to Comy, 0:08:55.920 --> 0:09:00.960 he's only facing charges because of President Trump's anti Comy animus, 0:09:00.960 --> 0:09:03.839 so Comy is trying to avail himself of this notion 0:09:04.880 --> 0:09:10.600 that the only reason, the only reason that he's in 0:09:10.679 --> 0:09:13.480 the jackpot that he's currently in is because Trump and 0:09:13.520 --> 0:09:21.040 his personal or political dislike of Comy. Comy's motion to dismiss, though, 0:09:21.080 --> 0:09:25.440 gave Halligan the opening to make public the overwhelming evidence 0:09:25.480 --> 0:09:30.840 of guilt against him. She did throw she did. She 0:09:30.920 --> 0:09:34.680 did so through her response, filing exhibits containing handwritten notes 0:09:34.720 --> 0:09:38.080 that Komy had written to himself and his friend, Professor 0:09:38.160 --> 0:09:42.800 Daniel Richmond of Columbia Law School, who was then a 0:09:42.840 --> 0:09:48.400 special government employee. Halligan also produced emails from Comy's Gmail 0:09:48.400 --> 0:09:59.800 account that used the alias Reinhold Kneebauer or Kneeber. What 0:10:00.000 --> 0:10:03.440 what is it with all these people in Washington who 0:10:03.520 --> 0:10:09.040 have all these online aliases? I mean, if you remember, 0:10:09.120 --> 0:10:14.840 during the the Joseph Robin at Biden administration, it was 0:10:15.400 --> 0:10:17.839 discovered that I get a guest during his time as 0:10:17.880 --> 0:10:21.720 vice president, he had dozens of aliases and dozens of 0:10:22.000 --> 0:10:27.920 different email accounts, not obviously to try and conceal the 0:10:28.440 --> 0:10:31.840 dealings with his son's businesses. 0:10:32.320 --> 0:10:33.359 But I digress. 0:10:34.240 --> 0:10:39.440 Most crucially, Comy's written statements make clear that he was 0:10:39.480 --> 0:10:41.960 collaborating with Richmond the leek stories to the New York 0:10:41.960 --> 0:10:47.800 Times reporter Michael Schmidt. The exhibits even reveal Richmond's pseudonym, 0:10:48.120 --> 0:10:53.880 Michael Garcia. So there's another another Washington, DC character that's 0:10:53.880 --> 0:10:59.960 got fake identities when they're using emails or online president. 0:11:04.080 --> 0:11:08.280 When the indictment came down, critics such as MSNBC legal 0:11:08.320 --> 0:11:14.440 anist analyst Joyce Vance scoffed at it. Halligan, these critics claimed, 0:11:14.480 --> 0:11:18.920 had no experience was in overhead career prosecutors had refused 0:11:18.960 --> 0:11:22.600 to pursue an indictment, and anti Trump forces within the 0:11:22.640 --> 0:11:25.840 Eastern District of Virginia began shamefully leaking to the media. 0:11:26.720 --> 0:11:35.240 This insubordination led to the justifile justifiable firing of several prosecutors. Halligan, however, 0:11:35.280 --> 0:11:38.080 has proved these critics wrong. Bondi also attested that she had ratified 0:13:05.760 --> 0:13:10.520 Halligan's actions related to the grand jury. This precaution should 0:13:10.520 --> 0:13:13.480 not be necessary, as Halligan's appointment was lawful. Bondi and 0:13:13.520 --> 0:13:17.320 Blanche are acting prudently, however, giving the radical inferior court 0:13:17.400 --> 0:13:25.560 judges who will decide these motions.
