Take a moment and shift your thinking. The Apostle Paul encouraged the Roman believers with these words. May the God of Hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Breathe in deeply as you consider how hopeful you are in your life. Joy and peace come when you trust in God. On a scale of one to ten, how well do you think you trust God in hard circumstances. Paul's story is the perfect example of the truth of these words. He was a persecutor of the church until he had a personal encounter with a risen Christ. From then on, he was a fervent follower. He preached the Gospel with passion, even when it meant that he experienced the same kind of persecution he had formerly dealt out to others. And yet he was filled with joy because he knew, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that he would be with Jesus forever in heaven. He had joy and peace in believing. How about you, instead of justifying your fears by wrongly believing that your worry will somehow control what will happen, truly put your faith in God. Replace your stress with the hopeful power of the Holy Spirit. Let's pray, Father God. There are times when things in my life seem hopeless. I fear that some circumstances are never going to change. 00:03:45 Speaker 1: But I don't. 00:03:45 Speaker 2: Want to feel hopeless, because my hope truly is in You. Help me to remember how vast you are, how nothing is beyond your reach, how you are always surrounding me with your love and your peace and hope. Whether I am a pessimist or an optimist by nature. I trust you in Jesus's name, I pray, Amen. Keep breathing deeply and close your eyes if you can. With each deep breath, picture God's hope filling you as air fills your lungs. Close your hands tightly around your faith so that you do not lose it. We can grow accustomed to not trusting God if we keep looking for ways to be in control ourselves. Confess to God your desire to control your own life and allow him to make you clean. Imagine a picture of the coolest, sweetest water you've ever tasted. Keep drinking and drinking from it, and it never runs dry. Instead, it keeps overflowing. Let that be hope in your life, Dear Lord, Because of you, I can be full of hope no matter what circumstances or outcomes lie ahead. I know that you see them, that they're already handled for my good and for your glory. Help me not to worry, but to hope, to expect that you will act in whatever way you deem best. I have the hope of glory, which is better than anything I will gain in this world. Thank you for your overflowing love. In Jesus' name, I pray Amen. Hope does not disappoint. Romans five point five says, trust in God to do what is best for you. Be patient, trust God. Be overflowing with hope until next time. May you abide in Christ
