WEBVTT - Hero Pilot Breaks Silence

0:00:04.210 --> 0:00:08.729
<v Speaker 1>Welcome to The Update. Hello, I'm Eleanor Quirk. The Indian

0:00:08.910 --> 0:00:12.510
<v Speaker 1>airline captain who was stabbed on a fly-to-buy flight to

0:00:12.590 --> 0:00:16.150
<v Speaker 1>Israel has spoken of the ordeal. In a video call

0:00:16.190 --> 0:00:20.090
<v Speaker 1>with the Indian Prime Minister, Captain Smit Mishra recounted the

0:00:20.150 --> 0:00:22.950
<v Speaker 1>moment he was lying on the floor of the cockpit

0:00:23.270 --> 0:00:25.310
<v Speaker 1>knowing he had to save lives.

0:00:25.650 --> 0:00:27.840
<v Speaker 2>I could feel that the aircraft was plunging and I

0:00:27.880 --> 0:00:30.300
<v Speaker 2>said to myself, this is the last push, Smit. Do it.

0:00:30.320 --> 0:00:31.320
<v Speaker 2>The door is right there.

0:00:31.890 --> 0:00:35.870
<v Speaker 1>A powerful earthquake has sent shockwaves across much of Victoria,

0:00:36.010 --> 0:00:40.470
<v Speaker 1>including parts of Melbourne. The 4.8 magnitude quake struck around

0:00:40.470 --> 0:00:44.390
<v Speaker 1>2 this morning at a depth of 10km with a

0:00:44.390 --> 0:00:47.090
<v Speaker 1>3.1 aftershock recorded around an hour later.

0:00:47.260 --> 0:00:50.460
<v Speaker 2>The bed moved sideways, back and forth, almost blamed a

0:00:50.500 --> 0:00:54.260
<v Speaker 2>couple upstairs. The shaking of the room in my bedroom,

0:00:54.380 --> 0:00:56.440
<v Speaker 2>the lamp nearly fell on my head. I could not

0:00:56.480 --> 0:00:59.080
<v Speaker 2>believe it was the most frightening thing I've ever experienced.

0:00:59.500 --> 0:01:04.810
<v Speaker 1>A rogue OpenAI agent has hacked into another Australian government agency.

0:01:05.190 --> 0:01:08.369
<v Speaker 1>The tech giant confirming the site of NSW National Parks

0:01:08.430 --> 0:01:11.990
<v Speaker 1>and Wildlife Service was breached back in June, the same

0:01:12.050 --> 0:01:17.589
<v Speaker 1>month that OpenAI accessed federal government sites, including Medicare. And

0:01:17.670 --> 0:01:20.690
<v Speaker 1>a leading Catholic school in Sydney has launched an investigation

0:01:20.890 --> 0:01:25.470
<v Speaker 1>after AI images of a teacher appeared on adult site OnlyFans.

0:01:26.020 --> 0:01:29.880
<v Speaker 1>The images of the female staff member have reportedly been

0:01:30.000 --> 0:01:35.020
<v Speaker 1>circulated among students at Sutherland St Patrick's College. Sport and

0:01:35.120 --> 0:01:39.930
<v Speaker 1>entertainment are next. To sport and nights, coach Justin Holbrook's

0:01:39.990 --> 0:01:44.390
<v Speaker 1>warning Newcastle's incredible crowd support won't be enough alone to

0:01:44.430 --> 0:01:48.570
<v Speaker 1>secure premiership glory. The Fairytale Knights team are expected to

0:01:48.640 --> 0:01:52.040
<v Speaker 1>have the majority of support in tomorrow's grand final against

0:01:52.060 --> 0:01:55.770
<v Speaker 1>the Roosters. But Holbrook says the Chooks won't be intimidated.

0:01:55.970 --> 0:01:58.030
<v Speaker 2>The weekend was enormous. We went to 12 men and

0:01:58.050 --> 0:02:00.890
<v Speaker 2>just the roar of the crowd had a huge benefit

0:02:00.910 --> 0:02:03.810
<v Speaker 2>for us. But I also, and the group, are well

0:02:03.850 --> 0:02:06.390
<v Speaker 2>aware that it's not going to faze the opposition.

0:02:07.230 --> 0:02:10.590
<v Speaker 1>And Nick Dacos has won his second Copeland Trophy for

0:02:10.690 --> 0:02:14.940
<v Speaker 1>Collingwood's Best and Fairest. To entertainment, a host of Aussie

0:02:14.970 --> 0:02:18.180
<v Speaker 1>music stars are preparing to take part in tomorrow's NRL

0:02:18.200 --> 0:02:21.429
<v Speaker 1>Grand Final Entertainment Awards. As part of a special tribute

0:02:21.490 --> 0:02:25.270
<v Speaker 1>for South Sydney, M & D suffered Jai Arrow, Amy Shark,

0:02:25.330 --> 0:02:28.889
<v Speaker 1>The Screaming Jets, Grinspoon and Peaking Duck among those taking

0:02:28.950 --> 0:02:31.910
<v Speaker 1>centre stage before the game. They're set to perform a

0:02:32.070 --> 0:02:36.090
<v Speaker 1>number of covers, including You'll Never Walk Alone. And Olivia

0:02:36.160 --> 0:02:39.579
<v Speaker 1>Deen is facing a legal battle, accused of copying a

0:02:39.760 --> 0:02:43.760
<v Speaker 1>classic 1981 hit. The lawsuit's been filed against the British

0:02:43.820 --> 0:02:46.840
<v Speaker 1>pop star's record label and the writers of her song

0:02:46.940 --> 0:02:51.500
<v Speaker 1>I've Seen It, With accusations it contains striking similarities to

0:02:51.540 --> 0:02:55.230
<v Speaker 1>Bill Withers' soul classic, Just the Two of Us. And

0:02:55.270 --> 0:02:58.049
<v Speaker 1>that's the latest from the Nova podcast team. We'll see

0:02:58.070 --> 0:03:01.180
<v Speaker 1>you again soon for another episode of The Update.
