So 0:09:30.360 --> 0:09:33.520 the value of an existing property, they want two thirds 0:09:33.559 --> 0:09:35.959 it to go up, but one third who want to 0:09:35.960 --> 0:09:39.040 get in of course, want it to continue to go down, 0:09:40.080 --> 0:09:43.600 which is where the Greens come in. It is 0:09:52.480 --> 0:09:56.800 incredible how many people support the Greens, or at least 0:09:56.920 --> 0:09:59.080 enough of them support the Greens to beat the Labor 0:09:59.120 --> 0:10:01.680 Party in seats, and once you put the preferences together, 0:10:01.720 --> 0:10:03.640 it's the Greens that end up coming out on top. 0:10:03.960 --> 0:10:08.240 And they think this issue delivers them more seats. Why 0:10:08.920 --> 0:10:12.280 because nationally they poll anywhere between ten and fifteen percent 0:10:12.320 --> 0:10:14.439 of the vote. But as I just showed you, thirty 0:10:14.559 --> 0:10:18.439 percent of the country rents. So the more rent is, 0:10:18.480 --> 0:10:23.040 the more potential Greens voters. That's why their entire housing 0:10:23.080 --> 0:10:27.360 plan is focused on those who rent. Because if they 0:10:27.440 --> 0:10:31.920 can even lift by five percent the amount of people 0:10:31.920 --> 0:10:34.160 who would vote for them who are renting will then 0:10:34.200 --> 0:10:36.160 they're a chance of being able to leap frog Labor 0:10:36.320 --> 0:10:39.680 and end up winning seats. This is why the Liberal Party, 0:10:39.720 --> 0:10:42.240 in my view, should have a system where they don't 0:10:42.280 --> 0:10:45.280 preference the Greens over Labor. Instead they preference Labor over 0:10:45.320 --> 0:10:48.200 the Greens, as it should be that the Labor Party 0:10:48.760 --> 0:10:50.800 does the same when it comes to the Liberal Party 0:10:50.880 --> 0:10:53.800 and the Teals. But maybe I'm living in fantasy land, 0:10:53.840 --> 0:10:57.120 but still the target. These are seats that they believe are vulnerable 0:11:04.280 --> 0:11:06.320 because of the number of people who are renting them, 0:11:07.000 --> 0:11:09.360 the Seat of Lily and the Seat of Morton. Now 0:11:09.400 --> 0:11:12.360 remember the national average is about thirty percent of people 0:11:12.400 --> 0:11:15.440 who are renting, but it's thirty five percent in the 0:11:15.440 --> 0:11:18.280 seat of Morton, it's thirty seven percent in the Seat 0:11:18.480 --> 0:11:22.640 of Lily. Therefore, they believe that they are able to 0:11:22.679 --> 0:11:25.880 win those seats by targeting the renters who will lift 0:11:25.920 --> 0:11:27.760 their vote get them above the Labor Party and the 0:11:27.760 --> 0:11:33.040 preferences all work their way, but Again, what's interesting about 0:11:33.040 --> 0:11:35.120 this politics is that while it works for a third 0:11:35.120 --> 0:11:37.360 of the electorate, it doesn't work for the other two 0:11:37.480 --> 0:11:41.600 thirds of the electorate.
